If you've never been before you may be intimidated by the location, but it's well worth a visit for a great selection of cask and keg beers.

The Furnace is a great pub, 10 minute walk from Derby city centre with fantastic staff, great clientele and a good selection of drinks. They host different themes nights (cheese night, pub quiz night etc) have pretty tasty pizza and pork pies. Looking forward to my next visit!

If you remember this being an old fashioned, slightly outdated pub think again, It's undergone a big change for the better in my opinion. Refurbished with a brighter more contemporary feel, it's still a traditional pub not a ultra modern bar though. It also has a nice beer garden, although be warned it can get insanely hot in the summer. They still have a good selection of cask beers; however, they have an emphasis on craft cans/bottles and keg. They probably have the best range of UK brewed craft beer in Derby with some seriously good beers on every single time. The range of cans is excellent with some limited editions and special releases in stock. They also have a wide variety of non beer drinks and non alcoholic drinks. Worth keeping an eye out for events happening, regular tap takeovers from the likes of Buxton, Northern Monk & Cloudwater etc, meet the brewer, Wednesday cheese night, open Mic, beer festivals and summer bbqs. 12" fresh cooked pizza is available for around £9, Pepperoni, Margarita, and a couple of specials, as are cobs, pork pies, scotch eggs, crisps, peanuts, sweets etc. All the staff are friendly, as are the customers, it's also dog and child friendly especially on a lazy Sunday afternoon.

First class pub. Old school with plenty of beer choice both draft and canned/bottled. Well worth a visit. Relax and drink. Good prices and a very impressive range. Also shows major sporting events on a big screen. They have some food also offering rolls, pork pies and freshly made pizza.

Dropped in again at the Furnace Inn for a few pints: As usual, the range of hand-pumped ales was very good indeed, and the staff were friendly and helpful. It may not be the most atmospheric pub in Derby, but a nice and comfortable one. And then there's all the beer .... Recommended!

The Furnace is a lovely real ale pub with a huge range of ales on pumps and also tins. The staff are lovely and friendly as are the locals that frequent the pub. They serve Pizza all day every day and have other snacks, fresh cobs and lovely locally made scotch eggs.

Fantastic range of keg and cask ales, almost spoilt for choice. Friendly bar staff who were patient whilst we were choosing what to have. This was the first visit in a while and the pub appears to have been refurbished. It was comfortable and some great chill out music was playing. What's not to love?

Best real ale house in Derby in my opinion, ( The Alexandra a close second). It's all about ale, with a bit of darts and board games thrown in. A few theme nights during the week, cheese night, poker and chess clubs, nice garden and very good pork pies. Well worth the detour from the City Centre bars. The Charity Meat and Beer Raffles at the weekend are a must.

They always have at least one Stout/Mild on, and they have their own beers as well as guests. Friendly staff, board games, darts and a card table are available. Close enough to town, without being being surrounded by noise and bustle.
