It's ok to be honest, not normally a place I'd visit and I probably won't go again unless I need to attend a function/party etc; however, that's not a reflection on the pub, it's just not my kind of place. We didn't eat; however, the food smelt and looked pretty nice, the staff were all friendly, polite and helpful, which is always a good thing. The beer was disappointingly average, having said that it's a Marston's pub so it was never going to be able to compete with Derby's best. Overall it's actually pretty decent, just not really the type of place I'd visit.

Love this pub! Louise and team ensure we are looked after every visit. Food is superb; piping hot and tastes great... what more would you want?! A nice drink to wash it all down and that is something they can certainly offer. Will be back again soon.

We went today for dinner, was reasonable priced, £70 for 6 of us (2 kids and 4 adults) inc. Round of drinks. Only thing we was disappointed about was the hour wait for food. When we booked was told could be upto 30 mins, but 60 mins when you have 2 kids seems to take a long time. The Sunday roasts were beautiful, could prob do with more BBQ sauce on the Hunters Chicken

Firstly there was a singer on who excellent which enhanced the atmosphere. There were plenty off staff, the service was quick and efficient. I didn't like the look of my first pint they changed it without quibble. The food was good and the 30% off mains made it taste even better! All in all a cracking evening.

Plenty of room inside and a good atmosphere from the locals. Moved here for uni and felt right at home immediately, and has remained a staple for the future. Food is reasonable for the price and there is a wide selection of drinks. Pub quiz with Harry is always a livley night. Good job 👍🏼

Crikey that was good! Had the fish and chips and I can honestly say they were the best I’ve had in years! Batter amazing, all freshly cooked and hot. Served with bread, tartar sauce and lemon 🍋…….super. And at a great price. The staff are friendly and welcoming. My family and friends were celebrating my mothers life, just after her funeral we were there for her wake. The staff at the Jonty were fantastic, nothing was to much trouble. Jenny, Rachel, Glenda and Adi were so kind and thoughtful to us all, they made what was a sad occasion into a very happy and memory for the entire group. We are two adults with two grandchildren, 11 and 7. Wanted a quick meal on the way home after a day out. Found a table and ordered a meal from the set menu at 17.32. Asked for a jug of water at the same time and took it back to the table, spilling a small amount as I put it down. At the same time a waiter was giving us cutlery and serviettes and saw what had happened. He did not say, " just a moment, I will get a cloth to mop it up", he just walked off. I signalled to a waitress who mopped it up. We then had to wait for 45 minutes before the food came. Restaurant was not overly busy at the time. My wife went to the counter after 40 minutes and we were told the food was being platted up. The original waiter apologised for the delay but gave no explanation. The food was good but I did feel the attitude of the staff was not helpful and I was disappointed with the experience, which was not up to the standard we have enjoyed there in the past.

Ate on a busy Sunday afternoon. Accidentally gave the incorrect table number when ordering, got moaned at when trying to serve, if the table number didn't exist in the first place why take it when we ordered. Even though it was busy, burger I had was good value for the money paid, and well cooked.

We had a fantastic night at The Jonty Farmer, we had the Christmas menu as it was for a Christmas night out. The food was delicious, piping hot, well presented and plenty of it. The service was excellent even though it was very busy got served at the bar quickly. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed it and we will be coming back.

The best Xmas Meal I have had for a few years.....good sized portions of delicious hot and cold food...it is so easy for customers to get ripped off with overpriced, underwhelming Xmas food but that is certainly not the case at the Jonty Farmer. Only two female members of staff serving the meals to all the parties seated, but they went about their job with a permanent smile and made it look effortless. A big thank you to the unseen kitchen crew for providing such tasty food and to the lovely lady behind the bar.Having been involved in the restaurant trade for nearly 20 years, it was one of the nicest meals I have had in a long time, and a very reasonable price too....Well done evetyone

I had vegetarian bangers and mash. The mash was an odd rubbery consistency, and one part of it was very hard - it almost felt like it had a bone in it, which potatoes don't usually have! The gravy was also a strange gelatinous gloop. My husband had chilli, which he said was good, but the proportion of rice to chilli was unbalanced - loads of rice, but hardly any chilli. No one came back to ask if we were happy with our food, and the waitress was dressed in jeans, which seemed unprofessional. Doubt I would go back.

Nice pub near to Derby University. Visited on a Saturday afternoon and not too crowded. Asked to perform a Covid check-in. Offer to use an app to make food order or have table service. Will definitely visit again.

Arrived and stood to be seated for five minutes. No one ever came to we sat down. It took 10-15 minutes to receive drinks after ordering from the app! They close at 10, and by 8:45 they had stopped serving draught products - presumably to make sure people are gone by 10pm. The staff were pleasant enough, but a bit understaffed considering the slow service.

Staff are really friendly and helpful. Table had been cleaned but was sticky. Food not brilliant. We all opted for Sunday roasts. Chicken seemed really nice. The roast beef was grey in colour. Our stuffing balls were inedible. Went to put mine on my fork and it shot off the plate. Not sure how these are cooked but didn't appear fresh. Certainly couldn't bite into them. Puddings were great and good value. Unlikely to choose to eat here again.

I recently visited the jonty farmer on a Friday night to meet friends. On arrival we received a friendly welcome from the staff. Had my Son's surprise meal, for his 21st at the Jonty last night. The place was set up brilliantly for when we arrived 🎉The staff that were looking after us, throughout the night, were fantastic & the food was delicious, thanks very much Matthew & all served with great help from super helpful Matt & a lovely young lady, so so sorry I've forgotten her name yet again 😣 So if you live in the area & ever need a venue then I would highly recommend here & if you are just looking for somewhere to eat then I would also recommend try here. I very family friendly pub. It has a great selection of food and drink. I have never been disappointed in the mains. It's got a nice pub atmosphere with many weekly events on. It has a playground in the back, and lots of outdoor seating for those warm summer nights. As well as all this, the prices are very fair!

This was a random stop on a day out for a meal. No need to book but there are Covid rules in place so follow the one way system and distancing notices. Staff were ok, a little preoccupied with talking to the regulars, and allowing them to Vape inside where people were eating, there was a big sign stating the sound system would be on low (I guess to reduce the need to be be too close to each other, but there were 2 separate system on and quite loud so the staff couldn't hear the food orders so people were leaning round the plastic screens to talk tot them. But the food was good, the Pizza looked made fresh which is a bonus. This is a chain type gastro-pub which looks like it must have plenty of regular locals visiting from the surrounding housing estates, which in the current times is great to see it thriving. Keep up the good work but don't let the standards slip for attracting new customers.

I grew up just down the road and remember this being an actual farm I've seen many different Landlords/Ladies come and go. I love it here it's great for my passion of football as there's 5 screens. The staff are really great and very attentive. I would recommend this place for everyone it's good for children with a great play area in the enclosed garden.

I didn't expect much coming here, I thought it'd be another generic chain type Marston pub, but the customer service was very friendly and the food was top notch, tasted hot and fresh, and there were different and interesting food choices to that of other places. Nice, clean environment and would definitely come again.

The Jonty has gone a bit downhill recently. Used to visit a lot but food portions have got smaller and prices gone up. Had fish and chips last week and had about 6 chips and the fish was dry and overcooked. There is a variety of food to choose from though, and they have a pizza oven to cook a fresh pizza for you if you want one. Overall a bit Meh. Nowt special.

It's decent, it's close to the uni, it's ok price wise. It's a bit above spoons in terms of food and the staff are nice. Menu is a bit limited really but you can't complain. Pub quiz Tuesdays.

I regularly go to the Jonty for a pizza with my partner, but have recently noticed some issues which have put me off recently. 1. The elderly lady who works behind the bar has no business being there. Each time she has taken my order on each individual visit, she complains about not being able to understand the till and therefore my order comes to the table wrong. A couple of visits ago, I asked for a bowl of plain nachos and I had to send them back 3 times before they stopped putting dip and cheese on them. My partner doesn't eat meat or dairy so am careful about what we order, but we do have to send things back regularly. The waiting staff are fantastic though and always sort the food out without complaint and are very polite. Please Jonty, replace your bar staff, it lets your pub down. 2. On my last visit, I ordered a pizza (which is fantastic here if you haven't had one) and you can watch them prepare it from the pizza oven at the front of the pub. I noticed that the chef preparing my pizza had decent length hair and a beard, but did not wear any hair coverings while preparing the food. Usually they do cover their hair and all is well, but I did notice this time non was used. There were no hairs in my meal, but it just stuck me as a bit lacking in hygiene. 3. Please Jonty, either ban young children or designate a specific area for families. Too many times I come into your pub to enjoy a meal and a drink with friends and family only to have it ruined by loud children running around while their parents don't seem to give a crap what their children are doing. The last time we came in for a meal, a young girl (approx 5 or 6) was sat at a table screaming and shouting while her mum (I assume it was her mum) sat on her phone with a pint. On other occasions children run about the pub while people are trying to eat. It ruins the atmosphere and makes people want to leave. 4. Lastly, smokers. During the summer time, we could not sit outside and enjoy the sunshine because every other table had someone puffing away on it. It smelled horrible and ruins nice sunny days for us non smokers. Again, designate a specific area outside during the summer for smokers and non smokers. On more than one occasion I came to the Jonty with friends only to go elsewhere because we wanted to sit outside in the sun but couldn't due to smokers. Some even stand right outside the main entrance next to the no smoking sign. If you could enforce a no smoking in the outside seating area and have a smoking area somewhere else, I think this would sort the problem out. I do love coming here but there's a lot that needs improving. I hope you make some important and necessary changes to bring it back to being a 5 star joint. Cheers.
