I was served by a very polite and forthcoming gentleman called Jamie. An absolute credit. I came in by myself and didn’t know what to eat or drink and he went out of his way to go through the menu with you and the meal was worth every penny. The cider was brilliant as well. I had a Mexican styled burger with nachos and a draught Thatchers Gold. I had a chocolate sundae for dessert. Really happy, thankyou again Jamie. You know what it’s nice to have someone that smiles and wants to work hard. If I had a business I would employ Jamie right away. I’ll definitely be back. I came here to celebrate and I haven’t felt lonely at all.

8 of us went here for lunch on the recommendation of our hotel, glad we took their advice. Food was fantastic, even the kids loved it. The staff were extremely friendly, very efficient and all round very nice people. Loved it so much going back later for our evening meal, oh and a great selection of beers.

Would definitely recommend. The service was so nice and attentive. Smiley and happy to serve. The chicken strippers were beautiful and I had some of my boyfriends steak which was melt in your mouth steak. Dessert was also 5/5. I had an Eaton mess sundae which didn’t work as well as if it was in a bowl so I had some of my boyfriends chocolate fudge cake. Decided it was so nice that I went and ordered one 30 seconds later.

A really excellent pub. The cask ale selection is excellent, along with other kegged beers, gins and cocktails. The food is fresh and comes in generous portion sizes. Plenty of huge TV screens for watching sport. Plus a really nice atmosphere. I think I’ll be here a lot!

Stopped off for lunch whilst my parents were visiting, lovely pub and atmosphere. We ordered 4 meals, sides and drinks, we had x2 Gammon, x1 Sirloin Steak and x1 Signature Stack Burger. Gammon and the Steak came out on sizzling hot plates, Burger looked amazing, great portion sizes, all stuffed. Great service with a smile and fantastic food.

We were a bit worried because there had been a few bad reviews recently, but we had a lovely evening here. The food was delicious and well cooked, there was a good selection of drinks and the whole feel of the place was good. We'll be back.

We took my partner's Mum to the Nags last night. It was a busy Friday night with lots of atmosphere. Initially there was no suitable table for us as Mum in law is in a wheelchair. However, the landlady/manager asked a guy if he would move tables to a table that was in the raised area of the pub, and he very kindly obliged. We ordered three gammons, two with mushy peas and one with a jacket potato. How grateful we are to the guy who moved tables as we enjoyed such delicious meals. We have eaten in the Nags, many times, and always enjoy the gammon, but somehow, it was extra special last night. I must also compliment the staff who were cery friendly and efficient, even in that busy environment.

Had a lovely meal with friends and family. Was a little concerned regarding how restrictions would affect our visit, but everything was fantastic. We felt so safe I completely forgot that there were restrictions in place. The staff looked after us really well, nothing was too much for them. The food was really tasty and amazing value for money. Went to the nags head with my son for food and a few drinks. I have to say the food was excellent. The staff were friendly and very accommodating. Especially the blonde haired lady. who went out of her way to make sure everything was okay. Really impressed with everybody there. Would highly recommend going.

Popped in for a quick pint on the way home from work, the staff were very friendly and the selection of ales was fantastic. I thoroughly enjoyed the beer, so I returned home and told the wife I'd take her out for dinner. We had a fantastic meal with great advice. Great pub, it's always our go to if we want a drink or a cheap meal. Great portion sizes good deals on food, and alcohol is reasonably priced too. There's also lots of seating inside and out, I particularly like the out door terrace which is a non smoking area. That's a really good idea, it means non smokers, such as myself, can enjoy sitting outside without being surrounded by fumes. I wish every pub did that!

Came here yesterday for a meal with my family. An absolute amazing pub in such a good area, we were looked after a blonde girl called Lilly who was very friendly and very accommodating. we had the 16 oz ribeye which was cooked perfectly. There is a wide range of Guest Ales on at a very reasonable price. The staff are so friendly and very nice. We will definitely be returning very soon as we had an amazing visit. We had the 2 for £9.99 menu and it was beautiful. I had Hunter's Chicken but I don't like BBQ sauce so they very kindly offered me a selection of other sauces I could have. I chose peppercorn and it was all delicious. The chicken was lovely and moist. My friends had gammon, which was thick and juicy, and chicken and bacon salad. The chicken was warm which we thought was nicer than cold chicken on salad. All our meals were really lovely. Plenty of free parking and comfy outside seating. Lots of shops next door including Birds, Tesco, charity shops. It's a lovely little area to shop and have a meal.

I recently needed a venue in Mickleover to hold a Wake for my Auntie that had passed away. I contacted Sally at The Nags who guided me through arranging a buffet etc., and was completely relieved to feel confident I was choosing the right place even though I had never met her. I continued having contact with Sally up to the event, even allowing us to invite a dog who was travelling with a relative. Used glasses and dishes stayed too long on the tables after guests already left and prevented new guests from taking a seat outside, so they went back inside. A very nice pub that's clearly had a lot spent on it however our experience was that on a busy Sunday they struggled to keep up with food orders. Even having acknowledged a 30 min delay when we ordered, in our group of 10 my wife had finished her meal by the time mine arrived. Also, for a grill-based menu it was clear that to catch up on orders the chicken fillet of my mixed grill had been boiled so was soggy and spongey. Dessert orders had to be chased up and overall we were there three and a half hours. Perhaps the kitchen needs greater grilling capacity but they certainly need more staff on busy days.

This is a cracking pub to have as a local. The food is fairly standard pub fayre but always served fresh and hot. The staff are always friendly and endeavour to provide a warm and inviting atmosphere. It is heavily stacked as a sports pub which means it can get a little loud at times but that is the nature of this kind of venue. My only gripe is that sometimes the bar is woefully understaffed (especially when a sporting event is on) which can lead to frustratingly long waits at the bar.

Oh so slow! Eventually got drinks - only one guy serving for most of the time until joined by a young lady who had to keep going to clear tables. A regular had been dominating him a bit and didn;t know her table number (Tee Hee - hang on I will go and look)! Got the drinks, decided on food - and joined the queue again. Heard it was going to be a 45 min wait and I hadn't even got to the front of the queue - Drank up and went elsewhere. Very un-impressed. Needs to be slicker. Good beer choice - nice place but realising the person who you need to be serving a drink is clearing tables is very frustrating. Shame as the beer selection was good and we had a good seat - but I can't bear waiting at a bar.

The Nag's Head used to have a fairly poor reputation initially, with its microwave style menu. Now recently revamped by Greene King Pubs it's definitely worth a revisit. The menu has changed to flame grilled items, mainly steaks, wings and burgers, but it also comes with some traditional pub grub for those seeking more familiar territory. There are various offers up for grabs through the week; classic pub meals are two for £9.99, Wednesday is wings Wednesday with 16 wings for £5, and on Thursday, burgers are BOGOF! My girlfriend and I managed two burgers, two pints and two sides for £18 but despite this, honestly, you get what you pay for. Meat quality is where you would expect it for what is essentially £4.50 a burger (on the BOGOF) and that is really where it should be. If you can make use of the deals they have then the Nag's Head is definitely worth the trip, but if your heading for the main menu without a bargain then prepare to be disappointed. Alongside all of this let's not forget the atmosphere and service at a pub. The staff are very friendly and helpful, but bar service can be slow at times although food appears quite quick. The atmosphere remains somewhat similar to what it used to be with a more family feel, but I still wouldn't take very young ones there of an evening beyond 7pm. Overall the price is fair on offers, but throw caution to the wind when paying full price. You'll enjoy it but not nearly as much as if it's a fraction of the cost!

It's ok, typical chain pub, the food is variable, I had a burger today, which was a bit dry, my grandson had a childs pasta mix, which actually is good, there are always some good beers on, I had an excellent pint of BG Tips from the Blue Monkey Brewery, kept very well. It's quite a sports orinated put, which again is ok, if you don't want big screens around you, then it's not for you, the pub is looking a bit tired as well

The atmosphere was somewhat bland, wasnt much greeting either at the door or at the bar. We seated ourselves, and still didnt get much greeting from the barman or waiteresses. We ordered at the bar. It did take a while for the food to come to the table. The portion size of food appropriate. Chips can be changed into crisscross chips. There are alternatives to size dishes from salads to beans. However, some of the food seemed to have gotten cold and was served lukewarm. Overall, the experience was nothing special, it didnt wow us or leave that much of an impression.

It's just a mediocre pub with the ubiquitous greasy grilled and fried food. I was surprised how dark and dingy it is inside considering it was refurbished fairly recently, it should have a much brighter interior with cleaner lines. And talking of clean, it isn't particularly, the walls and ledges on the panelling in the ladies for instance were filthy. And I know accidents happen but the chilli sauce I asked for was served splattered across my back and across the floor, the young lady was very apologetic and brought me some kitchen towel to clean myself up! I don't think we'll be going back.

I didn't eat just came for a drink. The bar staff seemed unable to cope. I was kept waiting for my change while one barman fussed over two girls blocking the till. The other barman had to wait until he finished despite other tills being available.

Local pub to me,hit and miss on food mostly good though. busy so best to book a table. I have done that twice both online and both times they hadn't got the booking disappointing.
