Great traditional pub, almost a country pub atmosphere on the edge of town. Good selection of beers. Staff always welcoming. A rare thing these days when although very busy the staff seem to remember your order ( we were a group of 4) . Keep up the good work .

A small, very old pub (established "circa 1680") on the edge of Derby city centre. It's certainly one of the prettiest and coziest public houses in Derby, but the real ale selection - considering that the town prizes itself as the real ale capital of Britain, and rightly so - is rather small indeed. Do come for the great, historic decor and the smell of times past. Staff are friendly.

Friendly historic pub with wonderful beer garden. Despite numerous attempts by the local council to destroy it due to its location between two arterial roads,it survives. Friendly atmosphere, good choice of drinks. M

Great pub.. near town, has beer garden and car park, good choice of well kept beers, prices are reasonable too. Staff are friendly and attentive as well, and the loos are kept clean! What more could you ask for.

Been coming here for 48 years and it's still a lovely welcoming pub. The staff and landlady are always very welcoming. Just been to a very dear friend's wake here today and the buffet was amazing. We had to leave early to travel back to Lichfield and the kindly landlady let us take some food with us. It was yummy.

Nice pub both indoors and outside. It's a shame there isn't a non smoking zone. Good choice of cask ales and lagers. The only thing that really let's it down, is the constant puddle in the gents toilet. Other than that o would recommend Athens Seven stars for a night out.

Went here with my boyfriend and his friends. Service was lovely and toilets were clean, although it was freezing cold and the gas heater in the middle of the courtyard didn’t work. However, the inexpensive drinks and friendly atmosphere provided more than enough warmth for us! Gorgeous overall, and looking forward to my next visit!

I've recently moved to a new flat, had the first Friday Bank holiday off in god knows how long so thought I would try my new local. Last time I was here I was most probably a student. Honestly it's fantastic! Especially with COVID restrictions, they are all on it, incredibly friendly, the service is fantastic, the ale is sublime and the atmosphere with customers and music in the background really sets the tone. If you have never been here and would rather avoid the monstrosity of Trying to get in somewhere In the city center give it a go!

I love this place. Although quite small it's very quaint which isn't surprising considering it dates back to 1680. Have a good selection of gins.. Live sports for those who like it. Free jukebox and nice friendly bar staff. There's also a well you can look down as your waiting for your pint to be pulled. A small snug room with a dartboard and a raised outdoor patio and a shelter for those that smoke.

Offers a fun pub quiz on a Wednesday nights. Drinks are well priced. It's a small pub though with limited seating so you have to get in quick to grab one, especially on quiz night.

Historic building, which I like, but potentially hazardous for the taller gent, especially after a few of the guest ales. It's got an old well you can look down, which is nice. The outside isn't ideally placed between two roads, but they've done it up recently and it's pretty quiet and relaxed now. Also shows various sports on the telly. A good option.

When your at the bar. DONT LOOK DOWN! At part of the bar there is an extremely old water well wich is as deep as the eye can see. But you won't see it untill you see it at its not that obvious where it is.
