d. j.We visited this place today, 04/02/2022, to try out the carvery. This time, we booked ahead. The service was great with lots of staff around. The carvery itself was very morish. 3x meats , gammon , beef and turkey. I always pay the extra for the large, which gave us an extra Yorkshire pudding. Absolutely lovely place to visit and eat.
N. S.It is a great bar/restaurant with great value menu and decent drinks. The new Marston's 61 Deep on tap is 3.8% and a really nice pale ale. Very refreshing and easy to drink. Sunday carvery is really good value and the portions are huge, with an option to pay more for extra meat. Good selection of vegetables. Very tasty and filling are a long walk. Serving staff very welcoming and friendly. Good social distancing measures in place.

M. F.This was the first time we had visited here. Everything was clean and the staff were very friendly. We both had dinner from the Carvery and we were very happy with our meals. All three of the choice of meats were beautifully cooked and an excellent and plentiful choice of vegetables. Would have no qualms about returning in the future.
E. R.Carvery was nice, has a good array of tables and plenty of room for disabled customers. Ramps for wheelchairs and accessible toilets and seating areas. Food was good, staff behind the counter seemed to be arguing on both occasions we visited however which made the carvery line go a lot slower and the customers a lot grumpier.
A. J.Food was great and good value for money. Staff were helpful and friendly. Only small criticism we had was the food service times weren't very clear.
We booked a table for 7pm with booking slots available still for 8pm so we thought wed ha e ample time but after we'd been up 2 the carvery they cleared everything away so we couldn't go back for more veg, gravy etc The children wanted dessert so we had to order it when we realised they were clearing up and had to have it served just after sitting down with our dinner. Wouldn't have minded if the times were made clear but with online bookings available an hr after ours we thought we'd have plenty of time..
Will def eat there again tho but will double check service times before we go..
M. “. P.Great value for money on all roasts, they also do other menu items such as burgers and pizzas. The children's menu is very diverse and also has an all you can eat ice cream machine. Walking ins are available but always busy so good idea to book ahead.
R. G.I want to share firstly our service was friendly even before we arrived on the phone when we wanted to up our booking numbers.
But the rating is really based on food quality and ambiance - just not my thing.
The children's play park was great for the little ones.
J. N.Probably the nicest breakfast buffet we've ever been to. Everything was good. The food was hot and cooked to perfection. Good range of food and the unlimited coffee was perfect!! The service was also on point.and all of the staff were very friendly and helpful.

i. e.Disappointed with my visit..we have recently moved into spondon, had heat good things about there carvery.. The meat on the carvery was tough. We were not warned about the plates being hot, the lady serving the food said that the heat laps had been on since breakfast. all the staff bye one were miserable to say the least.. we won't be coming back.. Extremely disappointing experience!!!

D. G.1st time at Bartlewood Lodge for a few years. What a lovely atmosphere. Good customer service and definitely value for money. We enjoyed a satisfying carvery and homemade apple pie and cherry steamed pudding respectively. All for £9.99 each for the 2 courses!! Definitely worth a second and third visit soon. Everywhere was clean and hygienic as well. Well done to all the staff and owners.

K. T.Pre booked a table and had a carvery here. Took ages to be served and then the bar man was not the friendliest.
Food was ok but not the best, we were both disappointed. Had no beef despite only being 5.20pm the roast potatoes were hard and dry, the veg was unseasoned and there's not a massive choice of traditional vegetables.
The meat portions are also quite small also considering price. We have always come here but the last two times have been underwhelming so not sure we will be returning which is a shame because this place has the potential to be special.

G. O.Came a couple of weeks ago for all you can eat breakfast and it was so lovely that we decided to come back today for a carvery.
We were greeted very quickly by Victoria who was lovely, and showed us to our table quickly and efficiently. We were then served at the bar by Oliver, who I assume was in training as he had Hayley assisting him. Both of these staff members were also very friendly and very patient with us when we needed to set up a tab and couldn't find our gift card on our emails. Didn't catch the Carver's name but he wore glasses and had blond ish brown hair, and again was so friendly! The food was amazing and the desserts were beautiful. We got 2 full works carverys, 2 desserts and 2 soft drinks all for £33! Great value for money, amazing service and will definitely be back! 😁

B.We arrived last night the gentleman that greeted us at the door was lovely and very helpful, we sat outside as it was my husband's birthday, however there was an assistant called Victoria, on three separate occasions she was very abbrubt and rude to us, couldnt complain about the food, just her!! We were made to feel very uncomfortable by her, my opinion is if she she hasn't got people skills then she's in the wrong job!! We left quite upset!

Ordered small meals but did expect more than a few scraps of turkey - when I asked for a little more - felt like Olivia Twist as was told this was all you could have with a small meal portion. Even one tiny 'pig in a blanket' was extra! Veg was tasteless and most plentiful and enjoyable bit was the Cranberry Sauce! This meal was £4.99 each and not really worth the money - prior to COVID, a full size meal was less than this!

K. S.I booked online for myself and 3 family members. When booking for some reason it gave me two references so I cancelled one. When we arrived I was told the booking was cancelled. After explaining what had happened to the gentleman at front of house (Peter) and showing that I had cancelled one but the other was not cancelled he did everything he could to accommodate us. We were shown to our table and ordered on the app. A waitress checked we were ok with the app and to ask did if any problems. We all had the Carvery and it was so nice, the servers dish everything out for you and give a genourous portion. Once all served you go back to your table and the meal is brought over for you. All the staff were so friendly and helpful, especially Peter. We will definitely be back but next time I will call to make reservationas don't trust the online booking.

The beef was amazingly tender and served by a lady who actually talked to you and had a smile and the roast potatoes were really nice. The kids loved the profiterole sundae and rocky road which I have to admit I wouldn't mind one myself next time. Been going for over 10 years when we are near there and do miss the play area they used to have. Been to breakfast years ago too and that was fantastic even then. All in all you can't go wrong eating here...

No more pagers, they come and tell you when food is ready (all alternatives to carvery) so you can all go up for carvery and vegetables together and they bring cutlery etc to you instead of already being on the table. R. H.The first impression I had was being ignored. There were two members of staff pressing buttons on the cash register right in front of me and my girlfriend. Would have been a nice gesture for one of them to acknowledge our existence by simply saying 'with you in a minute' though we were served by a friendly chap at a different till behind the bar.
Me and my girlfriend had a nut roast carvery as we're both veggies and it was so delicious! Was very impressed
Another good point I'd like to raise is that a large group of people were at the bar while I was waiting around the side on my own. Although the large group was a priority, as they were there first, a member of the bar staff still took my order while her colleague was serving the large group.
So after bit of a disappointing first impression the evening we spent there was really great. Would recommend the nut roast to my fellow veggies. The veg tasted so fresh and cooked to perfection. Well done 😁

R. S.Just been for a carvery, oh my goodness they had the best mashed potatoes of my life! I got the last bit of beef which I believe is the best bit. I can't fault the food at all and the staff were pleasant enough. My only gripe would be with the accessible toilet, you're fighting for space on the toilet with the sink, the toilet is not raised and there isn't any grab handles. It's difficult to use the sink and water ends up all over the toilet seat. I will be back for more mashed potatoes.

M. E.Why has the beef joint been changed to tough, fatty meat- the manageress told me it was company policy- I suggest you have a rethink as we and many of our friends are looking to go elsewhere.
On one occasion recently the server told the waiting diners"I wouldn,t have the beef it's not fit to feed to a dog but I just have to serve it- it's not my fault". No-one in the queue risked it!
This was once the best carvery in this area but not now.
E. S.10 of us went for lunch. We all had the cavery. The food was very good, especially the large selection of vegetables. It was hot & plenty of sauces to go with it. The slight disappointment was no pigs in blanket on your plate with the turkey!!. They were sitting there, but was told not included. Other than that it was very good experience

No sports tv - it’s a pub restaurant- not a sports club with a bar.
Chef provide a (free) little bowl for the baby to put a bit of veg in - this is really thoughtful as baby can’t have gravy.
Things to note
Some of the high chairs didn’t have working straps / restraints - (although there were loads)
Someone had obviously nicked a plug socket cover in the toddler play area which needs replacing.
It gets really really busy on Sundays
Overall delighted with our visit - we do call in regularly- but midweek.

S. S.I've had two very different experiences here. First one was a couple of months ago and everything was great: speedy service and tasty food. My latest visit was the exact opposite and we were actually shocked by how poorly some staff treated us and at the quality of a couple of the meals (chicken burgers). The manager however was very professional and sincere when he came to resolve everything and immediately offered us a partial refund. I'd be hesitant about going back.

M. J.Bartlewood Lodge has changed significantly since our last visit. It has introduced pizzas and burgers. My wife had pizza (which I tried) and I had burger. They had also introduced a salad bar. The burger meal at £7.99 on s Wednesday including a drink was good value. Other offers available on other days. Previously we had only ever had carvery meals or Christmas meals. I fear that introducing pizzas and burgers will reduce the turnover in the carvery. Certainly the chips I had yesterday from the carvery to go with my burger were cold and not very appetizing. The 61 Deep beer was better than I had expected. The burger was average much the same as the Hawaiian pizza. The salad was 4/5, the beetroot would be better without vinegar. Next time, if there is one I will have a carvery meal but with potatoes, definitely not chips.

We waited about ten minutes to order at the bar for three carverys. They accept cash, card or Apple/Android Pay.
We went to get our food and were waiting in a queue again for another ten minutes. The gentleman serving was polite and friendly.
I had beef and gammon. The beef was excellent; not fatty, nicely done, the gammon was a fatty mess.
It is not as nice as a I remember it from a couple of years ago. It's is alright if you live nearby and have a car. I wouldn't bother otherwise.

The food is about the same as always, with staff struggling to be happy let alone offer any real form of customer service. Some minor changes this could be so much more. Food can be hot n miss, today's wasn't to bad, a little cold and beef was dried out, crispy! Would come back, but never cease with high expectations.

j. S.Forget its remote location, this pub is worth the trip. From a selection of tasty handcrafted stone baked pizzas to a succulent carvery bartlewood caters for most appetites. In this visit I went for a meat feast pizza which was cooked to perfection and had ample toppings, this was washed down with an old mout cider, that being bottled I can't really comment on but the barman was extremely friendly and welcoming. All in all I could go on about my experience but the bottom line is that the food is good and well priced and the staff are friendly, everything you'd want during your experience really.

The ideal place to dine for a family meal at a sensible price that most people can afford, plus a good selection of mainstream marque beers and wines plus a good selection of spirits all at sensible prices . The bartlewood also has good WC facilities for the less able and they are cleaned to a good standard . The pub also has a huge car park with plenty of spaces . Highly recommended for that family meal or a cosy night in an intimate corner for the more romantic of people .

We were sat near the doorway to the playpark as it was the only table available with enough seats. Whenever the door would open a cold gust would sweep in, and the kids were in and out like yo-yos! Some of the food had a bit of an odd earthy taste, but the meat was spot on as usual! Sadly I think our dessert order had been forgotten about and I had to ask if it was coming after waiting 20mins, the desserts were brought out with no apology. I know this pub can do better so I'm guessing they were just having a bad day!

C.I came here with my 9 month old little boy today and ordered a drink and food the barman carried my drink over to my table then got me a highchair then when I got my carvery the chef said would u like a baby bowl I was very happy with the service I was receiving and how helpful everyone was as I was alone. Until I asked a member of staff if they could get me a glass of coke as me and my little boy was in the middle of our dinner and I didn't want to disturb my little boy the lady said no sorry I can't get you a drink and walked off. Luckily thier was a nice gentleman that offered to get me a drink not very helpful when that lady couldn't get me a drink if tho she could see I was on my own.

I was quite shocked to see the lady who was serving the food continually coughing onto her sleeve, not what you want to see when you are going to eat. She kept apologising and taking a drink but at no time did she leave the carvery station to wash her hands.
I shall not be returning until the cold and flu season is over.

N. C.This place can be really good but sometimes the food is just too cold or hard or the mash is too lumpy. But it can be a lovely night out and there are also pizzas there if you don't like carveries.

A. R.We had the carvery. We had turkey and was extremely surprised that I had to pay £1.00 extra for pigs in blankets !!! This was not clear on the menu and the menu wasn’t clear about offers.

Decent meal, not overpriced, bar staff are very friendly, nice for a family night out. 7 of us with drinks £80.
