Delightful friendly staff and atmosphere. We were made welcome with our Golden Retriever Bertie. Good ale and honest food, good selection on the specials board. Recommended for a good night.

Had a delicious home cooked Sunday lunch here. Great portion size. Big Yorkshire pud. Good selection of veg & fab roast potatoes. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Would definitely recommend.

Set in a back lane of Aston on Trent, is this lovely pub and restaurant. Dogs are made very welcome, the garden is compact with covered seating. Staff are incredibly helpful and welcoming. We went on a Sunday afternoon, for a quick drink and the food looked really appetising .

We were lucky to get a table with it being Mothers Day but the set menu did not disappoint! Chicken liver pate to start, followed by roast rolled leg of lamb. So full couldn’t manage a desert. Well worth the money. Will definitely go back.

Been enjoying take aways over lockdown, absolutely amazing food every time, comes so well packaged and presented too, it is well worth it. And actually great value for money. Looking forward to when they reopen so that we can visit properly!

A brilliant dining experience. The 8oz rump steak was cooked and served to perfection. The Doombar ale - a personal favourite - accompanied the meal perfectly. Staff were efficient, polite and a fount of knowledge about their beautiful location. Can't wait for our return visit to this hidden gem of a pub-restaurant in such a delightful village.

Great food, friendly service and some very good guest ales. Normally I avoid pubs with Sky Sports advertised but the volume was muted and the focus is on good food and drinks. Worth visiting. M

I'm really annoyed that I've not eaten here before. The food was excellent, not just pub level excellent but I would have been more than happy with this quality at a posh restaurant. Absolutely lovely. The bar staff were really nice too. We'll be back soon.

Visited The Malt for lunch as we were in the area for a funeral. It was a lovely pub, quiet but it was Thursday lunch. The barmaid was very quick and polite, she brought menus outside for us and took our order at the table. The food arrived quickly and was delicious. I ate the goats cheese and beetroot burger which was so filling I couldn't finish the chunky chips. I would recommend this pub.

Lovely old place, staff are fabulous, so kind. Food beautifully cooked and so tasty. We did leave you a tip on Saturday lunchtime... £11+ but one of our guests was last to pay on card and only paid what was left☹️ we didn't know this till later, so sorry about that.
