Reviews of The Red Cow
R. D.
Been here here a few times over the years. Never had a bad meal. Last time I was very impressed with the quality of the meal. The Sea Bass was very tasty. Have they got a new chef or is he just getting better. Well done.
A. I.
Unbeatable value. For £45 you or I can have a starter plus a main course from the small plates menu. Thats around the same price as a lunch at other local pubs. Except...this is £45 for a whole week, 5 starters and 5 main courses from the small plates menu (basically a business lunch menu). So thats why i am back again today. Cant beat it. And im not being paid to write this, just feel it needs to be put out there as it is fantastic value. Yesterday was liver and bacon, today was chicken breast in cream sauce.both lovely and served by attentive staff. Pate starter both days. absolutely superb both days.

Quality food, excellent
service. Staff very friendly,
and food at reasonable
price's. We will be going
again soon, looking
forward to it.

Food was good. Not sure who served us as the lady was a bit coy. We don't go here very often but we never get asked where we are from or if we live locally. It could be so much better.
M. W.
Enjoyed an evening meal here. Attentive service. Good value for money. The shared fish platter starter was a hit.

Great pub. Food looks great although never eaten there yet. Staff friendly and inviting. Never too busy and great selection of beers.
H. F.
Just had lunch with all the family to celebrate husband's birthday. Everything was really good they went to a lot of trouble to cater for vegetarian an gluten free.Would recommend.Well done.

Al last, the red cow gives us owners who can produce a meal. Great pie with big juicey hot chips and a cheesecake that may well have been homemade.
D. H.
Cracking pub with excellent food, friendly atmosphere and the team could do enough for you. Can definitely recommend the Sunday lunch and it’s also dog friendly.
D. B.
Really lovely friendly pub. Booked for a family meet up and brought along our dogs. Couldn't have asked for more. Nice food, great service 👌

Lovely Sunday lunch with friends in our walking group. They ran out of one the craft ales that I wanted to try, but I swapped drinks with one of my friends so I didn't miss out after all. Staff were friendly and obliging.
D. H.
7 of us ate here, midweek. We were all very impressed with the quality of the food, the friendly welcome and the care taken with our order and service. We would definitely visit again, and would recommend the Red Cow without hesitation.
D. W.
Lovely local. Would recommend. Came in with my wife for a date night. Atmosphere was great. The locals were very friendly in the bar area with good banter all night. Belly laughs. Food was reasonably priced and exceeded expectation. Will return.
A. W.

Lovely food and great service.

My wife and I have just enjoyed another excellent Takeaway Sunday lunch from The Red Cow. Extremely generous portion sizes, well-cooked and delicious, well priced. My wife had gammon and I had beef. My beef came with two large Yorkshire puddings, mashed and roast potatoes, cauliflower cheese, broccoli, parsnips, carrots and a pot of gravy. It was all ready to eat as soon as I got home. We just warmed up plates whilst I was collecting the meal. My wife decided she wouldn't be able to manage a dessert as well. I just about had room for a delicious slice of lemon drizzle cake and custard.Thank you Diane and Mark. We'll be back.

I had a wonderful 60th birthday bash here. Great food great beer and lots of friends to make the night so memorable.

Lovely pub. Had quite a few drinks in here over the last few weeks. Good selection of Gins. Guinness is lovely and cold just how I like it. Need to try the food though..... update.... now tried the food and had an excellent meal with great service. Proper home cooked food and good portions.
J. B.
Welcoming pub with friendly and helpful staff. Comfortable atmosphere. Great local pub.
N. J.
New Years Day. Limited food menu. Four adults, two teens. Everyone enjoyed their food. Reasonably priced. Well cooked food. Good table service. Food has improved vastly compared to a few years back. Great choice for a pub meal without breaking the bank.
M. L.
Excellent food and service. Well worth frequenting

Brilliant local village pub! Food amazing in tbe lounge plus great bar menu! 10/10

Whilst I have only been to this pub once I have seen enough to know I will definitely be returning. It has a bit of something for everyone, the bar has a TV in with presumably sport on most of the time and then as you venture a little further into the pub a dining area. Absolutely no signs of any tired decor and what is there looks as though it belongs not mix and match to replace things that have gone beyond their intended life. The food we had was reasonably priced and for what you pay the quality is definitely value for money, and is well presented which is a bonus. It may not be the case but there is a definite home cooked feel to the food which is a draw to return. I am already looking forward to a second visit.

The Red Cow is a classic pub. Been visiting this pub for xx years on and off and it's a great pub. Good food esp the gammon and eggs! They catered for a wake back in September and did a really great job. Oh and the beers good too!
A. W.
Great pub. Excellent food, good atmosphere and polite friendly staff.
i. m.
Good garden outside. Menu good but a little more pricey than some places... depends what you are after. Good beer with a guest real ale. Traditional bar with pool table. Cozy lounge and also does small private fu ctions separately in function room.
L. H.
Excellent food, service and prices. Lovely atmosphere. Can,t fault it.
S. W.
Lovely Sunday roast, friendly staff and great kids portions. I'd recommend.
M. R.
Having read other reviews about the Red Cow we were not expecting much, however we were very surprised with the service and the quality of the food. There is a good selection of real ales and decent wines at around £8 a bottle. Will definitely return.
A. F.
Great food, service was excellent. Waitress with short hair and glasses was incredible polite and knowledgeable of the menu, a real credit to the pub!
T. W.
Well organised with covid changes: one way, designated tables given to you, orders brought to tables.
Only given 4stars though as with all of these good measures, I saw not one person - customer or staff (about 7 customers in a small space, different groups) - wearing a mask inside whilst waiting to be assigned a table & place order, very little social distancing observed.
5stars if masks encouraged inside as otherwise was great to be able to go back there post lockdown!
T. D.
Very good food and drinks and excellent, friendly staff.
K. L.
Great little place with fab food.
K. C.
Went here for a function and what we saw looked very nice and all the staff were attentive.
s. c.
Very nice relaxing place . Would recommend
S. S.
Looks good and is comfortable unfortunately our meals were poor. My duck was well overcooked, so dry. My Hubby's food was overpowered by the sauce. Disapointed.
L. S.
Oh dear, what went wrong here! Perhaps we were unlucky but both of our meals were disappointing. We decided not to stop for desert. I did have a nice pint of IPA though!
X. S.
Excellent food served here. Would like to give particular credit to a young boy named hue for outstanding service, polite staff can really make or break an experience!
P. P. T.
Enjoyed a lovely meal and a fee drinks at this quaint little pub. Staff were helpful. The prices are decent for food and the drink. There is a nice selection of food and real ale.
D. L.

Had a really lovely meal here. Food was superb with good service. Can't wait to try the new menu.
T. B.
Strangest chicken supreme ever come across, came with a sauce called Chorizo! Garlic flew past this dish very quickly. There were errors on the orders.
G. C.
First time we have been here, food was very good, staff were brill. Lovely pub warm atmosphere
J. S.
Ok, we usually come when things are quiet, but the service, staff and food quality have been first rate. For price, the pub takes some beating. Would be happy if it was my local !
