Lovely spoons! Ordered via the app on a busy day after Derby’s half marathon and the orders arrived nice and quickly. Very spacious with lots of seats and a nice large area out the back with benches!

I was very impressed with the indoor architecture. The inside is similar to The Old Joint Stock in Birmingham.
Good service on my visit yesterday (24/10/21). I had fish, chips and peas for 3.99. For a drink I had a Queen of hearts which is one of the ales on during the Wetherspoons Real Ale Festival.
Located close to the cathedral and next door to Lloyds Wetherspoons

Huge building quick friendly service and value for money. We had a large mixed grill. Really enjoyed it. Have to say I don't usually eat at wetherspoons but I was pleasantly surprised here.
J. J.
My favourite spoons in derby city Centre ter, all staff are pleasant and helpful, service is quick food is decent here and all the deals they have on. Deffo good prices for alcohol better than other spoons and yh a nice spoons in the centre.
Really big inside high ceilings, I like standing order
S. I.
Come here very often for pre drinks, and they serve good quality cheap food. Easy to order on the app.
D. H.
It is a nice pub, the building is by far the best feature. Outstandingly breath taking. However the staff are not so impressive. Spaulding around on large tables in their uniforms whilst on their break, making the paying costumers stand in the isles and be shoved by the working staff to be told that you are in the way. Eventually managed to get a table only to be told that that table doesn't exist in their system and not being able to order anything via the app. Poorly managed on costumer services.

Not been into here in a while very busy but good atmosphere. I did many years ago help to make the bar area and I also made the large Oak doors to the right of the central main entrance which was good to see all still there 😀. Met up with work colleagues for a retirement drink. 👍

Good place to start your night out or if you fancy some brunch. Plenty of space and food is nice, only downfall as with all wetherspoons the toilets are up several stairs. Will return
P. L.
Great place to eat and drink often crowed; why because it's such value. Unbelievable selection of beer and at £2.10 a pint it's all good. Regular place. Publish this review.
T. B.
Venue was temperature cool as far as we are concerned. Service from the app was slow at times, tables were cleared quickly but not cleaned. Food was a good Wetherspoons standard.
K. B.
Been there multiple times, food is lovely and all staff (Bar, Kitchen and floor) are lovely and so are the managers, recommended 5 stars as they have good choices in drinks.
J. W.
Great range of new beers all at £1.99 that's nuts. Busy at late afternoon and not surprised at those prices. One of the best wetherspoons I've been in. Great architecture as it was originally a Bank.
S. H.
Popped in for a quick drink , unusually quite for a Saturday afternoon so decided to eat aswell , very easy using the wetherspoon app didn't have to leave our seat as food and drinks ordered via the app , drinks and food on our table within 20 minutes , lovely portion size and piping hot , only downside is you do have to get your own condiments from the service tables in various positions in the pub , would highly recommend for a cheap afternoon meal

The place was a former bank, turned into a very spacious "Wetherspoons Pub, &, Beer Garden", situated in "Derbys, Cathedral Quarter", in the city centre. As with all of their pubs, they have local artwork about the areas past, which most of us find intriguing, as well as interesting. I like this place however, i have given it 4 stars for a reason. The toilets are not maintained, &, checked regularly, the sinks are very small (especially in the disabled toilets so, water goes all over the floor, they do not have enough bar / on floor staff to keep up the smooth running of this very busy pub, tables are not checked on, &, cleared / cleaned regularly enough, that one has to often ask them if they'd kindly do it, &, i have found on numerous occasions when having meals their, that one has to hunt down condiments, &, sauces, as they do not keep them stocked up, or, they just leave them on the table/s that have used them. It is also disappointing that their meals are mainly made up with "CHIPS, CHIPS", &, even more "CHIPS", that people are fed up with, &, they only have 2 boring types of salad on their menu. Even the pasta dishes are limited, &, boring, &, cost a fortune if you were to add anything to it. We would like to see "Chilli Con Carne", &, "Spaghetti Bolognese, Cottage / Shepherds Pie", etc on the mene "Wetherspoons", something other than ruddy chips with everything, as well as your prices reduced back to a reasonable, justifiable level as they once were, as we can find meals cheaper elsewhere nowadays, compared to your prices.
J. M.
Always a good atmosphere, food came quickly and was great but the drink offer usually always arrives after you've finished eating. We had to clear our own table before sitting.
It's no fault of the staff, they have too much placed on their shoulders and 'spoons are too tight to fix the issue. Not to mention the atrocious way that the CEO handled the pandemic.
k. s.
Pop in for a quick drink. more younger clientele these days, which is ok but not really for me. Ordered food which came cold so sent it back and quickly replaced.
R. H.
Wetherspoons have always been consistently average with there food, portion sizes are on the smaller side for me but that's preference.
Inside was impressive, the whole layout was good and the décor of the bar & lighting was luxurious for the 90s but definitely needs a modern day revamp.
There didn't seem to be many staff around unless you went to the bar, possibly COVID related, could be the way things are ran.
E. B.
Although ordering through the app was amazing, I was extremely disappointed with my meal choice small fish n chips with mushy peas, more like a child portion, literally 8 chips and the smallest fish which was just batter at one end. Did have to ask for ghe table to be wiped down too.
M. R.
Not much to add here, aside from how big this 'Spoons is. It's like what you are used to, only bigger 😁. Very large selection of drinks as you would expect in this sized venue.
J. B.
While visiting this pub I witnessed the staff help a young woman in severe distress with mental health difficulties. They were all kind and helpful and Harry and Taz really excelled. I can't say how positive i feel towards the Standing Order now. Helping people isn't really part of any job but what a way to show that you care for your customers. Well done guys, I'd give you a medal if I could.
R. H.
Very nice place.
Friendly staffs and great service.
Highly recommended place for a drink and food.
One of the best Wetherspoons we've ever been.
S. O.
Decent breakfast, ordered on the app- service was quick. Nice building!
B. B.
Lovely building and friendly staff, obviously cheap menu and alot of guest ales on for a wetherspoon. However I did find one to be off so they may want to keep a closer eye on how the ale is kept? It was also hot in there but didn't affect the visit too much as it was a quick stop off.
P. S.
Typical 'spoons retaining much of the features of the original bank. Booths were available for a more intimate environment for a drink and a meal. Food and drinks were good.
J. E.
Typical clean and tidy Wetherspoons. Good selection of beer and food service was fast.
A. S.
Just as you would expect from Wetherspoons, can't complain really food not bad at all and discounted drinks so as things go cheap and cheerful.
Great for breakfast.
S. S.
Visited for breakfast on a Wednesday morning at 10am. Was very quiet and we were able to find a booth for our party of 5 straight away. Tried to place our order using the Weatherspoons app however unfortunately it doesn't allow you to add all of the extra items that appear on the menu or make any substitutions of items so we had to resort to ordering at the bar. Service was quick and the food delivered to our table within about 5 mins. The meals are great value for money, with the only criticism being that the breakfasts were only luke warm which prevented this being a 4* review.
J. S.
Lovely building, service was excellent and I really enjoyed my meal and pint. Usually not a wetherspoons fan food wise but this one changed my mind.
G. J.
Great pub, can't go wrong! Been here a few times now. It can get quite noisy but it's a busy pub. Like all wetherspoons decent prices decent food too.
B.
It's a Spoons, it's cheap, so maybe some people need to curb their expectations. Ales are £2.10 and well-kept. Staff are friendly and chatty. Lovely building.
k. h.
Not a lover of this wetherspoons. Just nipped in for a drink after a visit to another for a meal. Run out of my Leffe that i drink. It seems as it was just ticking over until the wetherspoons next door was refurbished.
R. K.
Huge Spoons in the center of Derby, good food, fantastic loge seatings, staff friendly but very busy. Crowdy and little bit loud but still good atmosphere
S. H.
Best value breakfast and coffee around. Would have given it 5 stars if the plates and coffee cups were warm.
H. D.
Great! Good atmosphere, food wasn't really up to much but was OK.
B. B.
Lovely place. Food good and quickly served. Staff friendly and helpful. Well done.
l. h.
As far as Spoons go this is a good one nice layout and a very good selection of beer
And the food was not bad to
C. J.
We've been coming here for decades and for better or worse it hasn't changed much in that time. You know where you stand with wetherspoons: good selection of reasonably priced beers and ok food for the money. Anywhere you can feed the whole family for £20 on a Saturday lunchtime without resorting to fast food places is ok by me.
w. g.
Nice place great atmosphere good food for the family or just to go chill, have a beer with friends
S. M.
Friendly staff and warm approachable locals.
i. R.
Everything was great, but didn't bring our complete order. Had to wait for a salad. Beer was good, customers friendly. We were there at lunchtime.
L. H.
Have enjoyed visiting here for 20 odd yrs...one of the only pubs in Derby that has Angry Orchard cider...staff always give a good service so def on the visit list.
A. H.
This is a great weatherspoon and has many, many great ales/ beers on tap!! I had a pint from a local brewer in Bakewell Derbyshire... Thornbridge Jaipur 😉😉😋 yum yum, and at a very reasonable price too!! The food is the same as any other pub in the chain and you get what you pay for...anyways, after 5-6 pints who cares, lol
C. S.
Large high ceilinged former NatWest bank with central bar 360 degree layout surrounded by snugs on the right hand side and tables plus snugs on the left hand side as you walk into the entrance hall of this foremost Spoons in Derby.
D. H.
Always enjoys this weatherspoons, old courthouse lots of history
c.
Food was nice but not very clean. Good atmosphere
P. C.
Great place , ideal for meets or dates as no music is played here so its perfect for a good conversation and has a wide choice of different drinks / cocktails and foods available , outdoor seating with shelter provided, good service times n happy staff
R. R.
Previously rated 5*, but after a couple of visits this weekend, I feel I need to pull it down a bit. One of our servers on Saturday bent right down in front of my face to talk to me, which felt very uncomfortable. On Sunday evening, having used the app to order, the server brought over all of the drinks and an empty pint glass. After 10 minutes and my drink not appearing, was informed that the beer I had ordered had run out, hence the empty glass! It then took a further 10 minutes back and forth to get a drink, as the bar staff didn't seem to know which beers they had on. Bit of a shambles really. Shame, as the food was good.
C. J.
A typical witherspoon location. Food is reasonably price and being able to order food and drink from the app saves trying to get served at the often busy bar. The building was lovely.
J. W.
Excellent pub good food
Only downside
It's like going up to heaven for the gents toilet 😏
M. B.
Typical Wetherspoons, cheap and cheerful. - Bar staff aren't the fastest and don't recognise the order of customers and serve friends before anybody else.
T. P. T. B. D.
Food and service was to the standard I would expect for a weatherspoons. Decent enough considering how busy it was!
P. J.
Sat down at a table order drinks staffs are helpful nice size pub .
r. w.
Amazing decor and enjoyable food. Pleasant staff and prompt service today.
M. P.
good food & drink at keen prices & has several food & drink deals on offer, well worth a return visit.
S. N.
Our standing building. Good food well presented. Best waitress is Hollie.
M. P.
Good beer at reasonable price always busy good atmosphere and service
N. H.
Lovely valentines day lunch in the Standing order. Great service and food. Well worth a visit.
c. s.
Eggs Benedict breakfast,at wetherspoons in Derby, another excellent meal.
R. B. $. r.
Go every two weeks on a Friday, had two steaks and a drink deal. very fatty steak will not have again. special beer selection on pick from menu mostly all gone. Table and menu's sticky,it's ok to spray the tables to go through the motions of cleaning, but nothing beats clean hot and soapy water.
S. B.
Very busy, vibrant atmosphere, great value
J. R.
Went for Robbie burns day .
Coeliac so need gluten free
Had jacket potatoe
Would be nice to see more gluten free food
T. F.
A nice friendly and interesting pub and the food was good as well i would recomend it to people
J. S.
Fast service. Good food.
That's an old review. Google just asked me to update it.
Where to start. Fabulous waiter lovely guy couldn't do enough for us, not his fault that the peas were stone cold also undercooked, the creamy peppercorn sauce was luke warm and still had bits of ice in the bottom of the jug, chips were passable, about a quarter of my steak was inedible grissly hard fat. Mushroom and tomato were nice though!
A. O.
Superior to the Branch on Babington Lane.
Usually quite fast service for drinks and food. Servers are efficient and nice and the decor of the pub is really beautiful and I was told the architecture and art were retained from when it used to be a bank
C. H.
It's ok, sticky tables, bit tatty looking overall.Had to ask for a glass for a bottled beer, handed wet glass, not great. Most wetherspoons try to serve beer in correct glass. My Shipyard came in a fosters glass. I felt like the staff didn't really care. Food very nice, just lack of condiments let's it down.
A. R.
Great spoons, great prices for drinks and great place to go out with your friends and family drinking and a good selection of food to eat
F.
Great atmostphere, lots of seating option (massive place), reasonable parking nearby and very friendly staff. You do get the normal Weatherspoons menu - lots of variety.
T. J.
Nice spacious pub good food lovely helpful staff
P. W.
You know what you're getting here. Typical 'spoons - cheap drinks, no frills.
S. C.
Busy place, no music, people just sitting at tables or bar, having drink or food, basically place for family and friends to come around and talk about how is life.
M. S.
Busy but very nice, food was still very fast even though it was a full house
N. L.
A very good place for meeting friends. Beer with good price
m. c.
Good menu, distance between seating groups, efficient delivery of food and competitive prices. Highly recommend.
g. t.
One of nicest 'spoons' I've walked into. Shame that there were glasses and cutlery strewn out on almost every surface. End of day though it's cheap booze in a central city setting open till late!
N. H.
Standard Wetherspoons. Busy, and no John Smiths or Doom Bar, but still a Derby classic
D. H.
having ordered 2 mains, my order burger came out luke warm, took it back to bar service, told them it was warm. waited for 20mins no replacement. spoke to manager, within seconds replacement meal arrived. over cooked and very dry burger but hey. offered another pint in goodwill but refused. nevertheless replacement pint turned up. would I order again? need to think twice.
K. B.
Better than most spoons I've been in Alfreton n Ripley food is disgusting here I enjoy the food and the building its in
A.
Good size pub with quite a lot of outdoor sitting. Table service through the app. We only had drinks which were quite slow. Good price and we did them. Good range of drinks available.
S. H.
Typical 'Spoons. Good selection of inexpensive beers an lagers.
A. R. (. D.
Stake Tuesday is a grate time to be here cooked how I asked service is cheerful and helpful =) been a couple of times
S. H.
Very busy, as you may expect for a city centre. Staff were well mannered and served in a timely fashion despite this.
My only gripe was nothing to do with the running of the place, it is very efficient and friendly.
D. E.
Great for cheap beer and with camra discount, but the mens toilet was filthy
E. A.
Nice pub with quick table service and friendly staff
D. P.
Lovely food and drinks, staff friendly and helpful
A. A.
Great place to have a pint good atmosphere and staff
J. D.
Another spoons. Cheap and cheerful. Traditional venue for fire service retirements.
T. M.
The Standing Order is the classiest of several J.D. Wetherspoon pubs in Derby (another one, The Thomas Leaper, is right next door - which is kind of peculiar), housed in a former bank - indeed several Spoons called The Standing Order are in former bank buildings, like the one in Edinburgh). The décor is more stylish than the one you will find in other Spoons, though still easily recognizable.
The food of course is the same that you will find in other JDW pubs, with very minor variations (e.g. the selection of small plates is smaller here than e.g at The Babington Arms, also in Derby). The drinks selection is huge and the prices competitive (try and find a real ale from UKP 2,75 at any pub that isn't a Spoon!), and that of course attracts a certain clientèle, especially on weekend nights. If you can accept that, it's a highly recommendable place for inexpensive drinks and (usually reliable) food.
G. D.
Cleanliness is not good, but better than next door Thomas Leaper. Slow with drinks when it was not busy. Obviously expectation was not high due to it being spoons so I guess it was OK.
M. S.
Good service good food value for money friendly welcome
C. H.
Fabulous decor, good service and atmosphere.
Z. W.
Lovely place and right next door to a wetherspoons with music
M. L.
This is what spoons do really well, turn old majestic buildings into good pubs. I have to say whilst the staff are excellent, the food is...well to be expected...not really something you'd be proud of tbh
G. B.
Excellent choice of beers and plenty of helpful staff.
j. c.
I enjoyed the breakfast 😋 but had trouble getting the coffee out of the machine.
N. G.
Nice beer, decent food, extremely convenient!
J. G.
Good food, Good service, lovely Staff. Made our visit back to Derby and down memory lane even more enjoyable
Thank you
J. M.
Good food, very busy with loud chatter. I definitely picked the worse day to visit (mad Friday).
G. B.
Typically great setting for a Wetherspoons
M. O.
The Standing Order is big place (an old bank) everybody is catered for young or old every day of the week. The meal was lovely my drink was superb on a hot day with plenty of ice..
s. h.
Fantastic Pub and food was excellent value for money
G. W.
Lovely, clean place with amazing inside architecture. A huge place with great service and staff. My favourite Wetherspoons above all the others i've visited
P. D.
This has got to be the best spoons in the world....went on a Friday night....it was a lovely friendly place....food and service was good....a very good pub .....you must visit it if you are in derby...
k. f.
Food was reasonably priced, good value and delicious. Only gave 3 starts cause I waited 40 minutes for my drink to arrive after speaking to 4 members of staff.
T. T.
Less than £15 for two lovely steaks - you just can't argue with that. It was very busy but the table service was very quick. Friendly staff too
G. H.
A Wetherspoons know what you are getting excellent selection of beverages
P. S.
Good breakfast, you can order via app now which is good for those alone who may lose their table whilst ordering at bar!
A. W.
Popped in with my daughter around 7 o' clock. Meal and drinks were fine but Wetherspoons are poor at making sure tables are cleaned after people have left. Our table had an empty Tesco's sandwich box and disposable menu's still there when we sat. I have been to three different Wetherspoons since they reopened, a total of five times, and not once had the table been cleaned. Been to Hungry Horse twice and very impressed with there Covid precautions and cleaning
H. P.
Normally good but a 55 minute wait for drinks ordered at the table, after we had finished eating, isn't great. Food was good though I suppose
M. R.
Went on a Sunday afternoon very quiet, many different drinks to choose from beers, ciders food lovely piping hot plenty to choose from staff very nice and busy all the time
R. P.
Very nice place, food was typical witherspoon, cheap and not very warm.
A. S.
Food and service were excellent. The place was clean.
R. C.
Very good beer range - among the best among Wetherspoons pubs. Pleasant outdoor area. Amazing old banking hall
C. M.
Often very busy with long waiting times for drinks, but when it's not packed, a great place.
B. B.
Good selection of beers at good prices , food is great for a pub not restaurant standard but great quality and price if you want a quick bite
S. H.
Good food at an excellent price, staff were great. I'm not usually a Wetherspoons fan but this place is very good..
S. C.
First visit and very impressed. Good beers and gins. We enjoyed a really good fish and chips meal and a curry both lovely. The pub was spacious with lots of tables and good spaces to walk through. A beautiful old building. Toilets both in good clean condition with lots of cubicles.
L. B.
Had a lovely meal friendly staff we had a great time for my granddaughters 17th birthday
p. m.
Food was nice, reasonably priced, ladies toilets were dirty the floor was sticky the radiator underneath 1 hand drier was filthy.
A. D.
Big pub, good service and fun place.
C. L.
As always brilliant value and quick excellent food. Good menu, something for everyone. Vegan burger is great.
J. A.
Pleasant expansive room. Busy when we visited at mid week lunch time. Nice level of background noise. Fast service. Good food for all four of our party. Excellent value for money. Good choice of casque ales, reasonably priced which was important for me.
Toilets were clean and serviceable bit a bit of a track upstairs. Not sure if there were ground floor facilities for those not sufficiently mobile for stairs. Staff at table were efficiently pleasant.
J. L. B.
Awsome building and quick service even though it was packed.
S. R.
Great experience in the standing order in Derby. Good food, good service and a great atmosphere.
W. W.
A bargain using rishi's eat out scheme.
Easy using the app for all food and drink.
Food was all as expected and delivered to the table quickly and politely. No complaints. The sirloin steak was very tasty and well cooked.
w. S.
Seemed to have changed bread supplier for their toast. Still yummy but the seedy crusts from before are missed!
W. T.
Visited on 04/03/2020: Based on one experience, the building is very nice, well furnished and looking good. However when the food came out the unenthusiastic staff member handed me some cutlery that was filthy, and this is unacceptable, they should be checked before they come out and not in front of the customer. The issue was sorted quickly enough, and the food was nice, but I can't rate it higher than 3 stars, I will visit again to see if this was just a one off experience, but I hope this is looked into.
D. S.
Great beer great prices good food
T. “. S. C.
Not the best Wetherspoons I have been to, hundreds of dirty glasses surrounding the bar and not even busy.
S. C.
The pub's features, left behind from it's former bank status, gives a certain edge to the place. That, I found particularly pleasing. And, of course, it was great to enjoy the very reasonably priced drink. I didn't eat this time. I don't like to give negative feedback, but there was a vomit smell in the air which was off putting.
K. M.
Architectural gem with excellent choice of beers. Food reasonably priced
M. B.
Typical Wetherspoon pub great value for money. Curry and a pint of Pedigree was delicious.
D. N.
Always enjoy this pub when I'm in Derby. Beautiful building and cheap beer. The staff are always nice.
C. L.
Lovely old building...part of Derby history.. lovely high ceilings.. very well run by welcoming and friendly team.. always a good choice of beers..App is a breeze to use an efficient. Food is tasty and well presented.
M. N.
Very crowded, food was served quickly. The app was a bit slow and not everyone was getting their food on time
C. S.
Good quality Wetherspoons. Staff were great. Food was definitely the best I have had from any of the spoons I have been too.
G.
It's a weather spoons pub so you know that means cheap food and drinks. I regular in here around 1-2 times every 2 weeks. Food has always been decent and quick to come out. Drinks get served quickly both at the bar and via the app. Saturday nights do get quite busy and it can be hard to find a seat, match days and local events fill the Standing Order to near capacity.
The Standing Order was originally erected in the 1870s for Crompton and Evans Union Bank. The pub still holds a lot of the original 'old timely' charm. Comes with a large open area with a full 360 degrees bar and high ceilings to match.
J. B.
Great interior, used to be an old bank and is a clash of traditional pub carpets and grand historical building. Bar is very accessible with big square bar. Quick table service even if busy. Decent, as-you-would-expect weatherspoons food. Toilets kept relatively clean. Can usually get a table, though some can be a bit sticky and unclean due to the popularity of the pub. My favourite spoons for its location and bar set-up.
S. T.
Very nice meal but menu not as good as it used to be, in my opinion of course. My favourite Hunters Chicken not on the menu.
C. B.
The chicken burger was dry and hard. Didn't like the clientele swearing. The disabled toilet was disgusting. Wee on the floor and all over the floor very dirty. Staff were friendly and helpful. But 1st time to use wetherspoons in 4 months.
B. W.
Great food cheap price on drinks, and food and drink deals 🍾🥂💚
C. C.
37 minute wait for two drinks, my friends got their food before I got my kopparberg; other than that it is a nice building.
N. C.
A really great pub with a good prices & atmosphere. I think their chicken wraps are the best ever.
T. B.
Great place to take kids. Standed pub food. Free refills on hot drinks.
A. P.
Nice pub with an interesting interior. Same as most other Weatherspoons in terms of the range of drinks and food. Not enough seating at most times of day and if you are lucky enough to find a table, chances of glasses/plates from the previous occupants is 99%. It also takes some time to get served at the bar.
Overall it's alright, but would recommend elsewhere if you are just going for a nice drink.
C. C.
I remember this place when it first opened as a pub. It still maintains a lively atmosphere despite its old bank sky high ceiling.
I'm old school but downloaded the app to order beer and food.
Amazing service.
I have no idea why I was so excited to see my pint being brought propmptly to me with a smile from a friendly member of staff.
D. L.
Lovely food and very friendly staff. Typically good Wetherspoons pricing too
C. S.
Not a bad place to go for food and drink by any means. Although, I would say that sometimes there seems to be a staff shortage during the daytime.
A. M.
Standard pub like vibe. Caters to all ages. Service a little confusing. Alot of waiters bringing us different meals we didn't order. Some were a little rude to be honest. Others really nice and helpful. Decent prices
P. S.
Great service. Nice & clean. Great selection of beers at reasonable prices.
S. T.
good pub great value food and drink
I. H.
Big wetherspoons in derby City centre. Very good
C. P.
Not bad for a wetherspoon. Nice space, friendly waiters and usually good ambient.
T. B.
I had 3 pizzas and 3 Pepsi and it came to just around £15. The pizzas are really nice and tasted like they were freshly baked. Service was quick as I orderes of the app at 20 past and it came to me at 25 to. Lovely place.
G. C. S.
Huge selection of beer, wines and spirits, some lovely craft ales, a great dining menu and all very reasonably priced, always busy but always has a bustling friendly atmosphere. If you can drag yourself away from intu centre it's worth a walk up here for a drink and lunch.
D.
Great interior inside an old bank. High ceilings above a large open space with the bar in the middle. Reasonable prices as you’d expect from a Wetherspoons. Loads of seating and usually a good atmosphere. Good place to start a night out.
B. B.
This is a very, very big Wetherspoons pub. It may well be the largest one you've ever been in. But it's still a Spoons so you know what you're getting here. However, the size of the tavern adds a few cheeky bonuses to the experience that you can't get elsewhere.
The large island bar has space for more booze than your average Spoons and this place takes full advantage of that, providing an insane 18 different ale pumps, as well as a large variety of weird and wonderful craft beers.
The floor space is massive and during the day, everything from huge groups of 18 or 20 people to quiet couples wanting an intimate meal can easily be catered for. At night, particularly at weekends and especially in the winter, this place gets absolutely packed. Some people get upset about having to wait a couple of minutes to get served but that's simply the sacrifice you make for the atmosphere of a huge, busy bar like this one.
The staff are always friendly and you can always find one or two ale fanatics working the bar, happy to advise on the guest ales. This is a great place to start your night before moving into the hub of the city. It's also a great place for cheap and cheerful family meals.

It's a nice place to come with friends and chill and chat over a drink because there's no loud music playing. It's a but louder when football is on but you just stay away if you're not into that sort of thing.
The food, however, is touch and go. Quite a few times over the past year now my food has always come charcoal black and even one time, my food was a bit cold and the woman took it away, microwaved it and plonked it down in front of me. I made sure management got involved and it was sorted and I know that you don't pay for top notch food, but I expect it to be consumable and in that case, not just thrown in the microwave when they served it me cold. So when I do order food there now, I am doing so half expecting something to go wrong and it's not a nice feeling so I only go for drinks mostly these days.

Ran out of lots of things on the menu and it was only 1pm. We wanted turkey and stuffing...a christmas staple, and nothing was available. A few orders were given out wrong with foods missing or replaced with alternatives without us being consulted so we complained. No children's cutlery available for the children's meal. The disabled/baby change loo's were awfully smelly and the floor was awful. Apart from that the food is lovely and the pub is great
C. P.
Always go here on a Friday for fish and chips. Good size portion and lovely crunchy batter. Great value for money at £7.60 with large glass of piano. Can't go wrong.
P. B.
Spacious and covid friendly. Our first meal out since the pandemic started. Felt very safe here
M. W.
Lovely atmosphere, good beer and reasonably priced food. Only got three stars because Wetherspoons has stopped its gluten free menu and now has very few gluten free options. When you have cealiacs disease and can't eat any gluten this really is annoying.
陳.
As a first timer but i felt quite comfortable in there. I ordered small fish and chips and a draught beer for dinner, it's good that you can taste all of them before you buy i like it. Will come again next time for sure.
X. H.
Cheap drinks as always and a good atmosphere, drinks were kinda slow though, Some poor bloke chucked a tray of glasses behind the counter and then got shouted at by his manager, hope the lad's OK.
B. E.
Fairly typical Wetherspoons, with the exception that it's massive.
It's size makes it good for large groups as it will easily swallow a group of 20 or more.
The bar is a large island in the centre and has a huge range of drinks available.
Food is available, although nice and well priced don't expect anything too fancy.
Generally nice although it can get incredibly busy especially around the bar.
J. G.
What a find. Most places didn't give us just ordinary food but with lots of variety and the found this one. Whats more its in a beautiful old building
C. Y.
Only had one bad experience here when I had pulled chicken with pasta which smelled really awful like the chicken was off. This place is good for drinks and usually good for food but that chicken was not good. My friend had a chicken burger but that was perfectly fine. To top it off my chicken was dry as well as smelling bad. So, top tip, if you're given the option of having extra chicken just don't do it to yourself
L. C.
Attended on Wednesday at 6pm
Food arrived before drinks which wasn't great. Staff not particularly friendly but that wasn't too much of a bother for me, I very much like to wine and dine in peace as long as they aren't rude I'm fine!
Food itself was particularly good, however not impressed that my garlic naan was put on top of my poppadoms which meant the poppadoms were soggy and greasy with ghee! Curry itself was great with spice, partner had a bbq chicken pizza which he was enamoured with.
Overall, not a bad experience but much preferred The Booking Office despite it being such a faff to get a table between 5-7pm for two people!
M. 0.
Lovely atmosphere. Cheap drinks and loads of different ales and beers on tap. Guest ales rotate a lot and is great during certain periods so look out for events! Food is basic but decent grilled / microwaved pub food. Beautiful venue
s. w.
The best Witherspoon pub in Derby, so drinks are cheap. However! Drink selection nowhere near as good or substantial as it used to be. Therefore! There are better places for drinking in Derby, such as (and in no particular order) Flowerpot, Alex and Brunswick.
T. A.
Plenty of seating, cheap drinks, good menu.
No music which makes it an excellent venue if you want to talk.
Good for groups or reunion type meetings with friends.
It's in the City Centre so there's no parking outside but metered parking and car parks are plentiful and closeby.
Difficult to get served at busy times but the bar is huge with lots of staff so be patient.
The toilets are the main bugbear. They are upstairs.
There are 2 disabled toilets on the ground floor though.
S. A. B.
Beautiful building with plenty of tables. Usual Wetherspoons menu tasty and good value for money. I had the sirloin steak managers special at £5.00 which was cooked to perfection and served with chips or jacker potato. Very busy bank holiday weekend and service was good. As usual 10 mile hike to the toilet as per usual.
S. W.
Nice looking pub both on the outside and inside so we went in for a breakfast. On finding a uncleaned but empty booth we tried to find the breakfast menu as it was not yet 12pm we knew we could get a breakfast. I had to ask an the barman went to look. In my experience a big no no don't remove menus till after the allotted time. Anyway another barman came to serve and ordered our food great prices. We sat down my friends said his hot chocolate was a disappointment. But we didn't have to wait long so I was initially impressed. On tasting the sausage had flavour probably a Lincoln sausage how ever the beans tasted as if went from the tin to plate an the mushroom an bacon was certainly not up to regulation temperatures.
If we go back I think we will try other food items as it did not put us completely off.
M. R.
40 minutes for 4 cans of Mojito to arrive but only 15 minutes for 3 meals to come at same time... Be careful of busy times and order drinks in advance.
C. G.
Beer served in full pints but I've noticed the level of beer drops significantly once you've taken your drink away from the bar. Be warned. These things look great, but they have a very short lifespan. Pretty much forcing you to replace it after only a few minutes :(
V. S.
Nice, good customer service when you get served, as there wasn't very many staff serving behind the bar.
E. A.
Great place for a get-together.
C. R.
Great to be back in the pub again, queued for 20 minutes to get in , then had to wait 25 minutes for my drink to arrive. I'm really glad I ordered 2 pints 😀
P. V.
It's a Wetherspoons pub what do you expect very large good service great staff good food will go again
L.
Service and food were okay but the coffee machine ran out, causing a long queue for the coffee. The food was okay - the chips were a bit bland but the lamb shank was really nice. I wouldn't recommend this place as there are other places nearby that are probably better than this restaurant.
a. b.
Food was very nice and the service was very quick. The tables outside are spread apart enough for social distancing. Staff were friendly.
M. S.
It's good of you want a drink without music in the background. Cannot give it 4 stats because it always takes too long to get served. Prices not a cheap as they used to be which is bad because the beer isn't kept as well as other pubs.
T. L.
For a whetherspoons it’s exactly what is says on the tin. However the standing order use to be a old bank and is very spacious with impressively high ceilings. The food is what you’d expect. But it’s cheap is good for a few drinks with friends.
A. S.
Large pub with interesting history. With friendly helpful staff and nice customers who will chat. A Wetherspoons so you know what you are getting and what you will pay. I like the calorie counts on the food menu and I am glad that you can exchange some high calorie items for healthier options such as poached eggs instead of fried.
A. T.
Good food, great value
X.
Love this place, there's just something about the high ceilings and the way it's lit. Obviously it's a Wetherspoon's, the beer and cider selection is always large and varied. Food isn't bad here.
As with all the Wetherspoon's pubs, the toilets are always a mile up or down stairs
j. h.
Beautiful building with typical Wetherspoons fare
H. S.
The interior inside is amazing and the pub itself is very open. Theres a fair bit of history to go along with the building like with most wetherspoon pubs around. Even when the pub is packed on a busy night service is still fast and efficient. Food is cooked to right level and drinks are served refreshingly cool.
M. T.
Standing order lives up to all expectations of a weatherpersons. Have had many family meals here where staff have been very accommodating in arranging tables as well as a nice place to have a drink before going out on the weekend. The app is very useful and can be faster service than visiting the bar.
N. F. F.
Great meeting place for a start of the night in Derby or to sample the great food that is served through out the day.
Reasonable prices and a good selection of food, various Ales, Wines and Cocktails.
Toilets are on the upper level but disabled toilet on the ground floor.
If you found this review helpful please give it the thumbs up to help others who view.
Thank You.
D. N.
Standard 'spoons really. The service was OK, not great, not awful, the food was warm (just) and edible (if you're intoxicated)... which I was, and hungry!
The building is lovely, extremely high ceilings of what must be a period building. Ruined somewhat by being inhabited by mentally inhibited folk. I was threatened by one group for asking the simple question of 'do you gents know where the toilet is?'
R.
The place is crowded and pretty dirty. The tables are always sticky, but if you can get past that, the food is cheap and it's served promptly.
J. R.
Wetherspoons is never a let down always good food and cheep drinks served fast. The App that allows you to order to your table is great if it's busy. Staff are friendly dispite being very busy, my waitress Shannon was happy to help and was very polite
F.
Always busy it seems, no matter the time of day, old men drinking in there from like 6am, crazy. Food is good, prices cheap, the building its in is an old bank and its quite fabulous. Some right bokkers in there at times but it is what it is. Doesn't detract from the good food and drink.
M. H.
Love the place. Atmosphere great. Price excellent. Staff great. Are they underpaid? They don't show it. Why pay more down the road for the same product. I don't buy into Mr weatherspoons ethics , but I love his product
r. g.
Would of given 5 but sadley the menu hasnt got much choice when i was last here they had more choice of food but great staff and good value
C. T.
Great pub with its setting of an old bank and then couple that with a weatherspoons and you are definitely onto a winner!
I would give 5 stars but I have yet to find the perfect pub and the standing order may be close but it isn't perfect unfortunately. I have had bad food come out of here once or twice in my time when I've been in Derby but I still fully recommend it as its an extremely rare occasion for this to happen
J. A.
Former bank, this Witherspoon pub has lots of room and good beers. The coffee is self service from a top of the range coffee machine which serves anything from flat white to latte, cappuccino and other. It's £1.25 and as many refills as you want in a mug. Lots of people meet here just for the coffee. Good low price food.
T. P.
Good for quick grub and cheap drinks, do be aware children are not welcome after 7pm on Friday and Saturday nights which is understandable, but a manager was quite brash and rude to me over this. My friend and I were just leaving at about 18:45 had all our things together drinks drunk, when my baby decided she wanted some milk (takes 5 mins usually) when she comes over and is like you need to leave and I was trying to explain we were trying but my bubs wanted milk, so was just going to feed her and go, but she kept cutting me off and repeating children aren't allowed after 7 in the end she said finish feeding her and leave. I understand the policy but she didn't need to be rude and we were out before 7. I'll make sure to not be there after 6pm in future to make sure I don't get any unnecessary attitude.
T. L.
As a Wetherspoon's lover I must admit that place is great. A lot of tables corned of bookshelfs allowing having a quiet conversation. Also large square bar is nice to having a walk-in pint without servicing. Highly recommended
R. D.
Very busy at weekends. Waited ages at the bar to get a drink and order some food. That's why I took off 1 star. Food was exelent for the price and came quick. Ordered another round of drinks from the Wetherspoons app as it still was busy at the bar and the drinks came straight away.
A. P.
It's a fairly typical example of a spoons pub. Eaten there many times and the food has been a bit of a mixed bag to be honest. Some food has been good other times food has been luke warm at best.
Wait times for food seems to vary wildly depending on what time you order and this isn't even at peek times, never understood why.
J. Z.
Good food. Good beer. We have a nice time there.
M. B.
The food was good and staff were friendly, the toilet were not very good not clean and some of the doors had no lokes on them.
S. T.
Former bank close to Derby Cathedral, this Wetherspoon pub ticks quite a few boxes.
Comfortably busy on a Friday lunchtime with a good buzz about the place. Food standard for 'Spoons, service good and real ales in good nick. Good value for money as usual.
s. s.
Food good I had the empire state burger, deceiving how small it looks on the plate but how filling it is. My partner had the cottage pie option which is only advisable if you enjoy small portions. Overall good food, at busy times staff dont have time to clear or wipe down tables from last customers which is why only four stars
C. S.
Great breakfast friendly staff
W. F.
Big main room, very airy. Strangely next door to another Witherspoon's as I understand it, but this one feels more accommodating.
Need to vacuum more often because the "dust bunnies" on the carpets were extraordinarily huge!
M. B.
Fast friendly service, a wide selection of drinks, the food here tastes and looks great. There is food offers like 2 for 1 and the portions are incredible for the price, you feel like you're robbing the place. In the evenings and the weekends this place can become very crowded, but don't let that put you off as the service is still swift and friendly. The decor is something to be viewed, pictures which hang on the walls a little pieces of Derby's history, also if you come here look up the height of the ceiling is just incredible.
J. H.
Extremely low price, decent quality food. Preserved the old building well in Derby. Part of Wetherspoons chain so if you are familiar you know what to expect. Nice for a quick dinner or some drinks.
K. B.
Best pub I've ever been too
S. H.
Wonderful Pub! Lovely place to stay. Good beer.
M. R.
Reliable, tasty, hearty pub grub!
You can always rely on a wetherspoons, and The Standing Order doesnt disappoint. Yes, you can see its a victim of its own success, by the number of plates/glasses still waiting to be cleared away, as the staff juggle getting food out with clearing away, but you know the food will be tasty and the service quick. I know this because I use the app, table service without leaving the table - the dream of the socially anxious.
I had the veggie lasagne which was very nice, though it came with a strange accompaniment, I'm informed was a salad. My companion had the all day breakfast, received positive reviews. It was tasty and hearty with the addition of black pudding. At around £15 with drinks, it was also good value, in a great pub atmosphere with the standards you expect from a wetherspoons.
F. H.
This place was very good has guest beers the staff are very good. I would recommend this place.
C. M.
I really liked this wetherspoon pub. The ceilings are incredibly high so you can't really hear conversations going on around you. I was able to read a book in here and not be bothered! Cheap prices, friendly staff and awesome screens for the footy.
N. R.
Very busy love atmosphere ❤️
B. R.
Was busy so ensure to allow extra time. Food came before drinks, which let the place down but also expected for an evening
I. M. G. J.
It's a nicely decorated Spoons I'll give you that, but it's often short staffed and service is slow. Went and had chicken bites the other night and have been really ill with food poisoning since, something I've never experienced in a Spoons before. A bit disappointed.
D. M.
We ordered 4 meals, 2 were the brunch breakfast, one was cajun chicken wrap and one was a baked potato with tuna. Non of the meals were very hot and the potato was sent back to be heated up. This came back allot better but all in all although all the meals were edible and eaten we were slightly dissapointed but not enough to never return, i put this down to a bad day in the kitchen.
I. C.
Good beers, nice prices.... and you can hear yourself think.
R. B.
Nice pub friendly people. Okay food. Needs a refurbishment. They bought a couple of tables and fixed the toilets. It's not enough. Update 28 may 2017 enjoyed a 5 bean chilli. Pity as I ordered chilli Con carney but it was lovely. Followed by Apple crumble and ice cream lovely on a bit Sunday afternoon. Then visited the gents again. Last inspection 4pm it's now 6pm. Toilet roll all over the floor....
M. F.
Speaking from a real ale perspective, this place has definitely had it's ups and downs over the years, but during 2016 the management have got their act together and are trying to offer a much wider range than before. The condition is usually good, only letting themselves down once in a while now and the ever changing selection of craft bottled beers is impressive at these prices.
Still one of the best landmark pubs to meet up, with the usual good value JDW food menu. A bit too busy for my taste on a Saturday with the famous long wait to get served, but generally recommended.
S. T.
Beautiful pub . Friendly staff who give great customer service.lots of hot coffee.
You must have a face mask to enter
T. D.
Always start the nights out at this place. Nicely located in the centre of the city and the drinks are reasonably priced.
Rarely struggle to find a table no matter the size of our group.
Food is great quality and always served promptly after ordering.
P. H.
The table we sat at had not be cleared so I had to do it myself. Luckily I had hand sanitiser in my bag and used this to clean/disinfect the table. When the food arrived no condiments offered. The redeeming feature with Weatherspoons is it's cheap.
K. L.
Great selection of beers and real ales at a very reasonable price. I've also never had a bad pint in a Wetherspoons so all good on the drinks front.
On my visit quite a few tables hadn't been cleared and the food was ok, but on the other hand very reasonable so cannot expect too much really. The service was very good and I was met by friendly staff.
c. r.
It’s got good collection of beers. Place to start pub crawl, centrally located with many options to move to on a drinks day out.
Being part of wetherspoons chain, prices are economical.
K. J.
Good food, quick service and value for money.
B.
Very busy they took.a while to serve. Asked for tables to be cleaned but no one did. Food arrived and I had to ask for table to be wiped they put our food down on another used table whilst cleaning. Nice chaps but I'm not sure serving food in a dirty table is acceptable. Needs to employ pots collector. Approx five tables remained unleaded during our meal. They were understaffed and busy! Mr Wetherspoon can't fault some of your food for the price but come on ......
Ps finally got my fork 3/4 of the way through my meal.
E. N. B.
Nice burgers. Lovely staff.☺
M. H.
Early breakfast on a lovely sunny morning seated outside, breakfast was very good with lots of coffee, altogether excellent.
M. H.
The pinnacle of a Derby pub, at least that's what my younger self thought. It is of course a wetherspoons so you don't visit expecting a quality traditional pub, but the setting is rather nice inside an old bank. You'll be impressed at how high the ceiling is. 4 stars as I've loved the fun nights that begin here, but it's still a wetherspoons and I've experienced disgusting acts such as public urination here.
C. W.
Service is very slow, price are very good on food and beverages its definitely recommended if your on a budget
M. W.
Good beer, however the decor is getting very tired and needs sorting out.
W. E.
I went to this Wetherspoon's pub which is near to Derby Cathedral to meet a family member who contacted me out of the blue to say that he was there. Inside it is very large with lots of tables, so many that I couldn't find the one I was looking for. The pub was absolutely packed on a Wednesday lunchtime. A friendly member of staff pointed me in the right direction. My cousin and his partner had ordered a meal but I had already eaten. The food looked like the normal Wetherspoon's fare.
N. W.
A very good Wetherspoons that's also in CAMRA's Good Beer Guide, usual food but that's the only thing I found that's usual, wonderful setting, it's in an old bank and well worth a visit for the architecture alone, friendly, helpful and quick staff, very unusual to get quick staff in my experience in a 'spoons. Eight or so well kept, interesting real ales (with 50p of a pint with CAMRA vouchers).
L. M.
Had breakfast here after struggling to find anywhere else open at that time! But you can always rely on a Wetherspoons. The food and coffees were great and the usual amazing value. Would recommend and would like to return!
c. m.
Good beer but short staffed. Wonderful building.
J. B.
Well, it's a pup and nothing for a dinner date. But if you fancy a beer an a quick bite I can recommend Tuesday's steak deal (steak 8 or 14oz and a beer for £7.85 or £9.85). But noisy but the high ceilings help a bit.
C.
I've always enjoyed coming here for steak and chip's but due to being pregnant I had to have my steak very well done and I have found that every time I asked for my steak well done it comes out pink and my partner will be eating his while I am waiting for my well done steak to be re done and it means I get cold chips. I have found its the same at most whether spoons pubs. It's not fair as if you ask for something and pay for it. Why doesn't it come like that.
S. C.
Nice pub and friendly staff.
R. E.
A little too crowded and noisy, but hey what do I expect on Friday night? Great choice of beers at fantastic prices. Very busy but pleasant bar staff.
j. h.
It is a nice friendly pub with a great atmosphere, and few things let it down though, things missing off the menu , because of the lack of stock and when the food order arrived. It was wrong, ordered salad got chips, I didn't complain because I was too hungry. There is a great celection of drinks though.
S. S.
🍺 were at reasonable price.
Vodka and lime was aswell
D. C.
One of the primo starting pubs for a night out. Great atmosphere and friendly staff. The food is of a basic quality and most likely not made fresh, however it comes out within 10 minutes in most cases and is inexpensive, generally tasting nice.
V. S.
Huge place with a great ale collection if you like one. Looking for a quick burger or a drink before or after shopping? Just walk in!
O. S.
Cosy yet spacious, always manages to be filled to max capacity at peak times, good for locals, students and travellers. Food is consistently average for a Wetherspoons but is always prompt in getting to you.
Staff are sub-satisfactory even at busy times, however have their moments during non peak hours. Just your average local spoons.
a. n.
I enjoy my meal and drinks with friends today,.yes staff are friendly got track and trace hand sanitizer .
R. B.
I always have the Sex On The Beach cocktails or pitchers when I go here and there fairly priced and tasty too! Also the halloumi fries are cheap and to die for! Nice atmosphere in an oldy worldy place, used to be the old bank hall back in the day!
T.
This was an OK vist used the app to order our food and drink. Surprisingly the food came before the drink and when the drink did come it was wrong. They refused to listen so we ended up with you completely different drinks to what we ordered with them not caring that it was wrong.
The food was good just got disappointed about the drinks.
R. E.
Wetherspoon Pub and usual Wetherspoon experience - with a couple of twists. It's worth a visit just to spy the interior of the building - an impressive conversion and a joy to see. Also the staff were very friendly and warm, not something I've found to be a 'spoons trademark.
Great place and well worth seeking out if visiting the city.
L. O. (. J.
Regular visit with friends for coffee. Reasonably good atmosphere, coffee and tea is cheap and you can chat without being disturbed. Food average, usual pub grub but I don't eat there out of choice
A. A.
Standard wetherspoons (friendly staff, quick service etc) but the building is outstanding. It used to be a former bank but it's really been spruced up and converted really well! Whenever I take anyone they're always amazed. A must see if in Derby.
H. G.
Great place to go for a drink or a meal. I recently went here for with 12-13 colleagues from work for lunch and the food was great. The service was very good and were quick to serve. The best part was the construction.
A. D.
I love standing order, I like the food, great to place to meet your friends and it’s a great place for pre-drinks.
Can be noisy on some days of the week though, but other than that I can’t say a bad word about the place.
J. B.
Great steak. Crowd different, there are those who have just finished work and having wind down drink. Or like me a rep having a meal, or those who have been here since breakfast. Diverse to say the least; but again steak great and good value.
A. P.
Clean place with prompt service. Food is exactly what you would expect at a weatherspoons
P. H.
Really busy on a Friday night but still managed to get a table and served in less than 12 minutes. Great value, good food great venue. Well done.
M. B.
As good as it always has been - a busy but fantastic Spoons which I love because of the fact it used to be a bank and has high ornate walls. Staff and service are second to none. Go on, if you're in Derby try it!
G. M.
Classic Weatherspoons - fine selection of beers and stomachable food at low prices. I also like how it attracts pretty much every section of society. Set in an old bank building with very high roof, which is nice.
H. B.
Much bigger than the Thomas Leaper next door but shares it's menu and drinks. There are occasionally different drinks when an event/festival is running, but they're generally equal.
Booths, tables and high chairs can be found throughout, with table service bring available to any table through the app.
Toilets are positioned up a rather lengthy flight of stairs, but disabled toilets are of course situated on ground level.
All together, a prime example of the Nation's favourite pub chain.
M. B.
Great place., great atmosphere- covid compliant
A. O.
It's got all the selection of food and drink as a standard Spoons but set in a old bank with a very high ceiling and a decor which sets it apart from the standard. Bar staff are always friendly. Highly recommended.
V. M.
I like the Standing Order, the building is pretty and old, the staff were pleasant and the prices, low! Typical Wetherspoons, toilets are 6 miles away but good value considering it is in the midd6of town.
R. A.
Very reasonable with a great choice of beers, nice atmosphere but can be noisy at times. Food available although we didn’t get chance to have any. Will be back
M. S.
Standard spoons really, everything you expect. Used to be a Bank so a really big area.
c. f.
Nice Wetherspoons, always lovely, sometimes hard to get a seat but there are plenty of tables so you should be able to get one quickly, fast bar service, good prices. Located at the centre of the drinks and food area in Derby city centre. There’s also a Wetherspoons next door, which helps spread the crowds and gives you multiple options, for a cheap and reliable option.
b. b.
Adequate spoons typical offering with toilets a short walk away through a lot of doors and stairs
A. C.
Beautiful building and good service..
D. S.
I came with a lady who was in an electric wheelchair, the extent of the lady's disability means she has to stay in her wheelchair. We struggled with the tables as there were no tables high enough for the lady to get her knees under, it would be handy if you invested in table leg extensions just to accommodate this kind of situation. The lady had to sit with a tray on her knees whilst she ate her lunch. Other than this the food was lovely and the service of the staff was excellent, they really was as helpful as they could be.
p. h.
Great place excellent staff happy to help out just seen manageress help a blind man to a table most welcoming and found it quite moving to go to that length busy place hope that they are appreciated by ranks higher up
E. M.
Very busy. Staff not very friendly
K. R.
Not a good experience today foodcnot really hot and had to send a dinner back
M.
3 of us had the small plate fish & chips which were all delicious & great value for money. It's a fabulous building with lots of character too & the staff were great.
w. t.
What a place like a palace. Huge space for big parties or gatherings. A lot of variety in cask & draughts. Food is great as wel as service. Staff is efficient n helpful. Visit from London but made me feel so happy. Love to visit it again
S. F.
Wether Spoons that's always busy from opening time onwards. You don't need to know any more.
G. B.
Typical Wetherspoons.........excellent selection of quality but cheap beers.... food average for the price.....pub very noisy.. always worth the visit whilst out shopping though. Always like Wetherspoons for the fact you can sit without having a speaker blaring music into your earholes.
H. W.
Felt very safe - this may have been due to it being lunchtime. The food was good and the service was efficient and friendly. Thank you.
K. B.
Even though a busy Friday evening food and service reasonable. Dependable
W. S.
Stop stressing have a pint. Maybe more. The Standing Order has private spaces for individuals and groups. Nobody is judging. Disabled toilet downstairs.
A. C.
We had a few drinks and dinner, good food and service in an old historic building
K. “. W.
Beautiful decor, obviously an old bank with extremely high ceilings. A large island bar dominates the centre of the building.
Large selection and good range of real ales.
Standard Wetherspoons fayre.
G. H.
Good value, food and drink. Table service was very slow though.
J.
Nice location. Plenty of tables - not always clean and empties free - As with ALL Wetherspoons there are not enough staff. Please, find the right mix, 10p on a pint and another staff member....?????
T. s. a. m.
Typical wetherspoons but what a building! I dread to think what the hearing bills must be like. This place is very popular with the drinking crowd but is still one of the better wetherspoons for food. Not many places to park nearby, but you can park at st.Mary's and enjoy a short walk across the bridge, past the cathedral and down to the pup. Makes me laugh how they have two doormen at the front and 3 entrances! Still a safer place to be in town which is a rarity nowadays. Food price is a little more expensive than the other wetherspoons in town but worth it for atmosphere.
J. T.
This is a lovely interesting building inside. We've eaten here a few times, food always seems good up to normal Wetherspoons standards. This one is certainly better than the neighboring pub.

Having been coming to the standing order for many years. I feel the place is going down Are they deliberately trying to close the place or is it just bad management. People constantly walking out because of having to wait too long to be served. I myself come here very infrequently now. Shame really I really used to like this pub
S. M.
It's friendly and standard weatherspoon standards. It's a big place with interesting features like high ceilings and statues which are original to the old bank features. Given a 4 stars rating because it's very slightly worn inside.
S. B.
Great great place. The only issue is, if you use the app it tends to be slightly dearer than going to the bar but on the plus side when it's busy you get served straight away as long as you've got a table.

The Standing Order has an interior that is rich in local history, containing artefacts of the city's more respectable past. 18th century portraits of fops and nobleman peer down on modern versions of peasants they would have employed or owned. The grandiose interior of a much more ornate past is possibly lost on the patrons of this Wetherspoons, however what is not lost is the good quality ales at reasonable prices. Food at Wetherspoons has steadily become more expensive, and therefore is less value for money. It's almost £8 for a burger and beer, which isn't a travesty, but it isn't as competitive a price when compared to other places where food has a less pre-packed bent to it. Like many other Wetherspoons pubs, the Standing Order has reached its dreary and dingy phase, where even the high ceilings cannot offset the gloom of somewhere that represents the end of British culture and it's moribund relationship with morals and values.

Prices increased alot from where they were. Food not bad, typical pub grub. Customer service is poor though staff are busy and aren't really interested if there's a problem.

Had a breakfast made to order. Re-fillable drinks.
Breakfast was a bit small as a portion
M. C.
casual drinking and social. Good place to start the night. Good food
J. S.
Social distancing well organised, even at busy times. Ordering via Wetherspoons app can be a lot slower than queuing at the bar.

Love it in here. Great choice of ales and lagers. Good atmosphere, fab building and great pub food. I like wetherspoons but this is by far my favourite.

Well worth a visit just to look at the architecture. Really enjoyed our visit, friendly staff very welcoming had a big breakfast was delicious. Good selection of beers. Spotless.

It was a bit noisy but it was Saturday night so you have to expect that, the service at the bar was very good & quick which was excellent considering how busy it was.

The single best meal I have ever had, and the quickest serving, accompanied by the easiest ordering. I myself ordered a crispy chicken burger with salad, a hot chocolate, and a small cookie dough.

I have visited the standing order in Derby and it's very large, nice and historical, serves tasty food and drink.
I have been a few times for breakfast with university friends and with my dad for coffee and I had a good time.

Lots of seating. Greet food and very reasonably priced. Lots of choice on the menu and food extremely tasty. Staff friendly and great service. Definitely worth a visit.

Large comfortable spoons which was a bank has some interesting fixtures it has plenty of room so you usually can find a nice spot to relax and enjoy something to eat and drink good selection of food and drink at very good prices good service from pleasent staff
A. W.
Great place for meeting friends or family, foods always decent and drinks prices are just right, not like the rest of the bars in city centre that rip you off. Place is clean as well.
S. G.
Warm, friendly staff.Noisy atmosphere . Food average but not as good as have had in other Weather spoons pubs in London, Nottingham, Birmingham., Devon and Bournemouth. More of a large group meeting place
P. G.
It was Great, the Kraken black spiced rum drinks taste amazing
D. D.
The staff, the meal and the cleanliness of the Standing order were really great, just one niggle the toilet is up three flights, it didn't bother me at all but anyone less able to use stairs may find it hard. All in all I will certainly pay them a visit when I'm in Derby next time.

Was in Monday food was great but today chips were nasty as if they had been siting a wile
G. T.
Good range of drinks, bottomless hot drink, and breakfast for £3.50, can't complain
J. G.
It’s in an impressive building and the service is good. The whole place just felt a bit tired in areas and like it needs work doing to it and new furniture. Just had drinks so can’t comment on food.
B. H.
Lovely atmosphere, food luke warm, fryers need changing as can taste on hash browns, and griddle taste on bacon...beans had seen better days...other than that fantastic value for money.

Great time, the waiter with green and pink hair was great.
b. k.
Food was good and staff were nice and friendly. All good.

Nothing particularly special about the beer, a normal Weatherspoons offering, but the interior of the building is spectacular. You must go in for a look around, even if you don't fancy a drink.

Been to a few "Spoons" over the last few years, have to say, this is one of the best. Good food and very consistant. Big place, lots of space
A. P.
Well what can I say. Wetherspoons Derby, you are excellent. Staff, food and service excellent. The food was really hot and tasty and staff very attentive and courteous. Prices brilliant. Keep it up.

Shopping day lunch. Despite being packed with people, food served promptly
R. G.
A very large, and nicely renovated pub, - in the Wetherspoon brand, - in an old bank. I had a good experience, with great service from the staff. I visited several times when in the area.
J. W.
Had a really nice lunch here yesterday. All day brunch,, plenty of it and reasonably priced. Good selection of drinks too.
C. M.
Took ages to get served at bar but was kinda busy but staff were really friendly af so 7/10 Just needed a better rum & gin selection, apart from that would deffinatly recomend! ✌
S. W.
Part of the Wetherspoon chain. Real ales available. Food served. Not a dressy place. Good value. Very popular. If it's too busy for you, go to the Thomas leaper next door which is also Wetherspoon.
J. C.
Been there yesterday 26th and again today 27th June with my best friend nice food and friendly xx
T. B.
Fairly standard for spoons. Bacon was undercooked and had never seen a grill, pub was very busy and felt under staffed.

Coming back from Download festival after sleeping pretty rough in the back of our car wanted to make a pit stop before the long journey back to London. The staff were very welcoming, especially one of the ladies called Kathy, who went out of her way to help one of our ladies. Generally most people don't go out of their way above or beyond and definitely would say this weatherspoons team has an asset, with such caring member of staff - who go above and beyond their required duty. So thanks Kathy. :)
A. S.
Love this place, beautiful building inside and nice food and drink at reasonable prices. Would of gave it 5 stars but getting served can be a slow process at times.
S.
Atmospheric old building. Excellent weatherspoons, friendly staff. Pop in for a really good beer, refillable coffee or good meal, or all of the above.
S. H.
The service wasn't too bad, food was good and so was the beer.
L. H.
The standing order is a typical Wetherspoons pub. It's located in a old bank which is a spectacular building. It also has lots of local photos and memorabilia. However, it is in desperate need of a refurb. The seats are scruffy and torn. Everything could do with a clear. It's best to sit in the back area and not near the front. With all Wetherspoons it has a good selection of beer and ok pub grub.
A. L.
Nice here...went in for a coffee & they do refillables at no extra cost...which for the caffeine addict is amazing...bar staff are a bit hit and miss 1 in particular was not polite...but the lady that served us 10/10
K. C.
It was a nice atmosphere and the beer is always good enjoyed it
J. F.
Set inside a cavernous old bank, the Standing Order is a Wetherspoons pub located in the heart of Derby. Offering a decent selection of beer at reasonable prices, you probably already know what to expect from a Wetherspoons. I went during the world cup (not during an England game) and it was very busy, however, I don't know what it's like the rest of the time.
S. S.
Good use of an old bank. Nice naturally lit open room with various dinning areas and usual Wetherspoons menus good value for money
P. C.
Lovely atmosphere. Very friendly efficient staff. Food and drink very good value for money. Will definitely go there again.
