The separate areas indoors and out doors, spacious, great for kids, big restaurant, smaller bar area if you want to watch sport on tele, large undercover area with festoon lighting, massive garden, kids chalkboards, climbing frame, mud kitchen, even a little scooter track! And the food was absolutely delicious, and I thought it was VERY reasonably priced. I will return with the family, well worth the travel time.

Met up with friends in pleasant surroundings. Enjoyed drinks from a wide selection of beers and lagers, served by friendly staff. Ordered "communal" food (chicken wings, fries etc). This arrived in a timely manner and was delicious. Sport was on a silent TV so the blokes could keep up to date with the footy/rugby. Great afternoon. What's not to like!

On every occasion (5) the kitchen has had missing menu items.... More than 1, generally half a dozen or more. Food we did have was ok, fairly average for this kind of venue. Iceland quality, Hilton price. All in all fairly inoffensive as a family tea but little else. Outdoor area is pleasant.

Absolutely the best meal my family have had for as long as I can remember. The best service! Welcoming and lovely lady ensured my elderly grandparents were taken care of. Quick and efficient service. The food was amazing, the steak and lamb was out of this world and presented with love. Beautiful desserts and to top it off such good value for money. My daughter loved the kids meal.... and for £3.99! This will be our new favourite and will visit everytime we come up north. Thank you and cannot fault. Above and beyond the best place by far.

Visited The Chase tonight for my dad’s 80th birthday. There was thirteen of us in total and I could not fault anything. The staff set out a table with tablecloth, candles and Happy Birthday banners, the service was excellent, and to say how many meals were being made was in good time and all very hot. The food as usual was beautiful and the total bill was pleasantly surprising. Thank you to everybody.

Can't believe we've only just discovered this place! Passed it loads of times not realising how good it is. Nice environment, pleasant staff but best of all is the food which is great! Lots of it, very tasty and won't break the bank. Really good menu for a gastro pub. Also they are dog friendly so our pooches can go out to dinner with us. And round the corner it appears they have Sky Sports. Something for everyone.

We used to visit here quite regularly as staff were always friendly and attentive and the food always good. Visited twice recently - late October and around Christmas. Both times were so disappointing. When we visited in October my daughter noticed a lot of glass around the play area, reported it to the staff who ignored it and didn't do anything until the pile of glass had been picked up by some older children and brought to the bar area. Second time around Christmas booked around 3 weeks in advance for festive afternoon tea. The booking was a mess in itself and paying the deposit took 15 minutes. When we arrived on the day everything was delayed - drinks pre-ordered had to be asked for, the actual meal had to be asked for, then no plates arrived, then no cutlery, paying for the meal took 15 minutes again and 4 members of staff. The other reserved tables were dressed up for Christmas apart from ours, which would have been nice as we were catching up with family members. The actual afternoon tea was beautiful and the chef is lovely but sadly the rest of the organisation lets it down. If you are wanting a stress free meal don't bother.

We came to Hatfield Chace for lunch and they went above and beyond to help us give our complex residents a covid safe hot meal. Fantastic staff and fantastic food. Looking after 6 residents with profound learning disabilities we unfortunately found ourselves without electric for over 24 hrs due to recent storm. Our residents are very vulnerable and has not been advisable to eat out due to risk of covid infection but today we were desperate to get our clients to somewhere warm and a hot meal inside them. We stopped at Hatfield Chace and asked if they could help to accommodate our clients to eat somewhere safe. Without hesitation they offered us use of their function room so our clients could be totally safe. The food was lovely and the service even better. A massive shout out to the owners and staff for helping in our hour of need. They made us feel like special guests, I can not thank them enough. Highly recommended this lovely caring place.

Excellent food at reasonable cost in a well run pub with friendly staff and excellent decor throughout. A superb beer garden is to the rear with ample tables and chairs to enjoy the sunshine when it's out. Highly recommended and children friendly. Dogs allowed in garden area.

Beautiful place, staff are excellent, so friendly and welcoming, 5* service always provide. Food is lovely, reasonably priced and they do a £5 lunch menu which is excellent value for money and good sized portions. Lovely outside eating area for the summer months that has a roof, so no chance of burning whilst enjoying your day. Lovely large grassed area and play area for the kids, good disabled access and facilities. Would highly recommend this place.

Had our meal here today and was disappointed. All veg was frozen veg just heated up, the steak was of a poor quality, not cooked through, fatty and unappetising. Staff were good and offered compensation in way of a free drink, but when food not good it spoils the ambiance of the occasion. Also the area set aside to eat lacked atmosphere but the bar was very full and buzzed. Not many people eating today. The lunchtime menu I have tried a few times and been satisfied. Perhaps getting rid of frozen veg and getting better quality products would be helpful

We recently moved to this area from rural Spain and have been delighted to discover the Chace. Jayne and her colleagues have made us and our two dogs really welcome. Since we don't have a working oven at the moment we booked for Boxing Day lunch for 4 of us and we were very glad we did. They are within walking distance and we will certainly be going again.

After 20 years living abroad we decided to visit the hatfield chase last week. It was a bitter sweet experience for us in reality. The pub is now nothing like what we remember and has a very modern open feel about it. a nice atmosphere in truth. The bar staff were lovely and the drinks were a fair price. We sadly couldnt stay too long as they had a female singer on and she sounded awful, most of the songs were out of tune and she was screaming rather than singing which really did hurt the ears. We are going to try the entertainment nights again in the run up to Christmas, hopefully the venue will host something a little better quality.

Great time at the pub quiz here last night. The quiz mistress was really friendly and included us in all the banter, and the online kwizzbit quiz was really fun and interactive. It was free to take part so a great night out with our friends. Sure we will be back!
