G. G.what an absolutely amazing day we had for our small intimate wedding. The food was perfect. The staff were extremely helpful. the layout of the venue was fabulous, like something from a magazine. everyone had a positive experience.

K. S.We went here for my mams birthday. 8 of us. It was very clean and looked lovely. We had a roast dinner which was delicious. A couple of us wanted it slightly different from what was on the menu and the person serving us was really helpful. After the meal he brought the cake out and even gave us some tubs to take the cake home after we cut it. He was so nice and helpful I gave him a piece. Makes a big difference when the staff are so nice. It wasn't a cheap meal but it was buy one get one free so it worked out okay. I would definitely recommend

I. S.Hired the function room for my daughter's 18th. Nothing was too much trouble, they helped us set up and prepare the room, staff were very friendly and lots of fun. The room was clean and tidy, would definitely hire again. 😊
n. w.2nd disappointing visit.
The specials board was very limited to just 3 items, none was steak.
We ordered from the standard menu which is typical pub grub. Table of 4, so we ordered a mixture of food, 3 was OK including my rump steak which was cooked just right (rare) the fish and chips was pants. Batter was soggy but the fish was rock hard, hard to explain but that's how it was.
They missed an opportunity as we only got asked for drinks once during the whole time we was there (1.5hrs)
When my other half complained, to Hatfields credit they gave us 20% off the whole bill, because of that we are more than willing to give Hatfields another try, especially as a new menu is due next week.

Our wedding co ordinator Mandy was amazing with us even to help me calm my nerves on day , music perfect thanks to Mandy and the lovely lad Liam who sorted it out for us both . Big thankyou to all the staff at hatfields this place will hold forever memories for us both and our families .

The food is of excellent value, and is always freshly prepared and hot.
Together with a well-stocked bar, what is there not to like?

I.Hi my name is David Ingram, we called at this location to see if we could get a table as we had not booked, yes we could get in the staff were polite and helpful. we had a short wait until our drinks were brought to us, the food was piping hot and really enjoyable all in all, we had an excellent meal in a warm friendly environment.

t. ..Brilliant, went for my great nieces christening party, had a fantastic time. Only gripe wa prices very expensive for there drinks especially a glass of coke. Made my coffee and glasses of cokes last me a long time lol.

J.Went for lunch on Tuesday 9/6/21. We did book before hand, but it wasn't busy on arrival. Met by a nice lady at door who said we could sit anywhere. It was table service, but there is the option to order via app. Full menu & specials board with 2 for 1 deals. Food was served quickly. Prawn & salmon salads were large & delicious. Staff wore masks, but they didn't keep shoving covid track n trace in your face like other places. Very nice experience, great staff, food & service. Well worth a visit 😊👍
C.Food was lovely but I didn't see the point of having what I see as very expensive meals then giving the cheaper meal free. Why not put ur meals at say £9 or £10 or so... £20 seems awfully dear when you see it written down. I had the smoky cheese beef steak which was lovely! Staff were pretty good too!

A. E.Hatfileds is a great place to visit, all main meals are 2 for 1 which makes this a fab offer. They have a fantastic team and your always greeted with a smile. The food is fantastic and have a very wide range of meals to choose from, everything always arrives very hot and the food is stunning, they definately have great chefs on board too. We travel a fair way to go to hatfields as we believe it's one of the best marstons around that we have tried. They do fantastic themed events in their function rooms which are brilliant to attend, booking is required as all events come with a 3 course meal. All over a fantastic place, we love it.

We had starters- prawn cocktail and jumbo shrimp which were both lovely.
Mains - large hunters chicken which was too much for my husband to eat but he enjoyed it very much. I had the apricot pork belly which isn't something I usually order but sounded lovely and I wasn't disappointed when it came.
We did order some more drinks with a waitress who brought us our meals but unfortunately we had finished our meals and they didn't arrive and we also asked the waitress who took our plates away about the drinks. We then had to wave for the waitor to come over to reorder these drinks.
However, this didn't dampen our evening.
I then had the lemon muffin cheesecake and really enjoyed it, again I had liked the sound of it and again I wasn't disappointed by this.
My husband was shocked that we had to pay as we ordered but we understand that this is to protect the pub/company from experiencing any losses from people not paying. It does however put alot on the waiting staff as they have any trips to and from the bar to pay for people's orders and then return the money back to the customer.
We tipped the waitor generously for all the running around he seemed to be doing (sorry cannot recall his name) we hoped he kept this for himself but feel it will go in the pot to share.

G. G.We held a 90th birthday celebration in the function suite. The staff could not do enough for us. Mandy went over and above to ensure everything went well. The buffet was delicious.
S. H.Good friendly staff. The main issue is the long wait times after ordering. It's not a one off either, been 3 times, each time 50+ mins everytime from ordering to meal arriving. Had my kids with me each time I've been and this is a major issue as they get really bored! Also the meal prices are over valued to take into consideration the 'two for ones', so you're not really getting two for the price of one. Nice environment, handy parking (with EV charge points).

I had chicken pie which had been nuked in a microwave so it was soggy and nuclear hot. My husband had belly por which came on a pile of microwaved mash. No gravy. As we walked in a member of staff asked if we'd used the hand sanitiser which was not in the most prominent place. Thats fine but we were then given a table which had been used and not cleaned afterwards . Hygiene works both ways

K. k.Wow 2 meals including very tasty chicken breast burgers, chips and onion rings £11 each but on two for one offer and because they were from the chefs specials you get to choose any dessert off the menu for FREE! They even boxed our desserts up to take home. So it cost us £5.50 each for a 2 course meal, amazing value for money.
B. R.Have been here a few times over the years. However it seems to be going downhill. I haven't been for a while due to my husband getting a bad pint and they wanted to replace it with another pint from the same barrel! This time tried to order a Pint of normal Pepsi to be told we don't do draft full sugar Pepsi. We only do Pepsi Max. If you want a pint you will need to buy two bottles! I can't drink diet or Pepsi max due to sweetners as I am allergic to them. The cost of two bottles of Pepsi £5. Which is a very expensive non alcoholic drink!! Also found the prices have gone up a lot as well. Fair enough it is buy a main meal get the cheapest free. However when you are on your own you can get a pudding for free. When you look at the prices they are nearly double what other pubs are charging. So in effect your not actually getting your 2nd meal free you are being charged for it. The meal was nice but it was not worth the price they were charging. So will definitely not be going back. If you do go for a meal make sure you have plenty of money on you. £19.25 for a trio of chops! Have had this somewhere else for £11 and you got a lot more on your plate.

A.Always come for my food here if there ever a birthday in the family or family friends, always impressed with the food, cheap and cheerful, however although most of the staff are friendly when there is a large group they often get orders wrong and don’t know how to deal with large groups. There is also a member of staff who is female and she is so mardy and rude, love to give 5 stars but can’t.

It's table service.good menu, with an additional menu on the wall at the end of the bar, all main meals are two for one,the steak was cooked perfectly!!, will definitely go again, Thursday and Friday is two speaks and a bottle of wine for £20.

S. S.Brilliant atmosphere at this friendly pub. The staff are always willing to help with a smile and even go out of their way to ensure you get the best deal available for the meal you want. All the mains on the menu as well as the specials board are 2 for £10 offering great prices for amazing meals every day of the week. Any designated drivers, don't worry, it's only around £2 for a refillable pint glass of most options of soft drinks.
P. B.Ordered a mixed grill and the lamb chop was actually raw and the staff took it back cooked it and kept my other food warm so I ended up with a fresh lamb chop and dried out mixed grill! Other times I've been and been happy enough with the food, rather small Sunday lunch though.

G. I.UPDATE to ORIGINAL - Visited again for family get together yesterday. With respect to the food a considerably different experience. All the food was perfectly cooked with no under or over cooking. I ordered a steak from the specials board, which I requested 'blue' and it was as close to 'blue' as I would expect from most places, although slightly overcooked, perfectly acceptable and a nice piece of quality meat. Soft drinks (cola) are either Diet Pepsi or Pepsi Max (both are artificailly sweetened) so not options of Cola if you don't like sweetners; they do however offer refillable glasses for a slight premium (80p extra on standard size) which means drivers etc, are not paying through the nose for soft drinks (unlimited refils) . Other comments below remain the same.
Original Review - Service was OK, Food was OK, Value for money OK. A fairly typical pub offering the common pub food and Sunday specials (visited on an Sunday). Menu could be found the same in almost any syndicated pub in the UK. Food I would say was probably overcooked and actually fairly bland. In my ratings 3 star is average quality. Nothing about the food or service here stood out. Prices were again as to be expected for this type of establishment. Obviously being Sunday was very busy especially with families. It would be nice to have an adults only seating area exclusive of children. And was kind of disconcerting to be behind a 'queue' of 9-12 year olds asking for crayons at the bar before getting served. (Apart from being illegal allowing children to a licenced bar!).
Would I go again? Probably not, i'd go to the Canal Tavern in Thorne where at least a good amount of the food is prepared in house not syndicated packet food.

I think it needs looking into for next year.
