9/11/21 Great food and service today, I would say today is the best food I’ve ever had in mallard and all staff are great best line up of staff what mallard as yet as todays staff know what there doing without just walking around like headless chickens. David should be proud of the staff he’s had today, the girls behind the bar work amazing definitely Chloe, I’ve seen staff interact with the deaf community even though the staff don’t know any sign language. Good food, good ambiance and really good service. This pub is just outside Doncaster railway station inside a mall. Very convenient if you want to grab a meal before heading to station. They have everyday special offers. We went for lunch before catching our train back to London. Food was really good and service was quick. Taking all required precautions for COVID-19.

What a great experience at the Mallard. It began by being warmly greeted at the door and being told to help ourselves to any table that was comfortable for us. The young lady behind the bar (Eloise) was so pleasant and welcoming, she was also so helpful and had a great knowledge on what was available. We didn’t have to wait long for our meals and the food was delicious. We will definitely be back again soon.

We'd come to Doncaster using northern rail £1 tickets for a few beers. We called in the Mallard as our last port of call before catching the train home. The John Smith's was £3 40 considerably dearer than the £2 we'd paid elsewhere however it was a lovely pint and the young man who served us had a great sense of humour. The place was bright and airy and overall a most pleasant experience. It's great advantage was its situated near the station which was a big plus for us

Wow what a great experience at the Mallard today. It began when I was at the bar ordering our meals. The young lady (Eloise) was so pleasant and welcoming, she was also so helpful. We didn’t have to wait long for our meals and the food was delicious. We will definitely be going back again.

Good small English breakfast for only 3.49. I saw the sign outside for English breakfast for 5.49 so I decided to give it a try. On the table menus it said 6.49. I asked at the bar and they said 5.49. I asked if they did a smaller version. She said yes and I paid 3.49. It was very good and also very filling. there's free cloud wifi

This place has some amazing meals with delicious flavours, I had their Wednesday special "Jalcrazy" and it was certainly that, it blew my head off! The flavours themselves were delicious making it impossible to stop eating, although your tongue would be burning by the 10th bite, they have meals to enjoy for everyone with a massive varied menu.

Came in on a thursday evening, cold outside and yet soo comfortably warm inside. Heat and atmosphere. The staff were lovely and welcoming. I always feel at ease in this place. Special mention for Dan; our server for his exceptional service and for being so lovely and interactive i felt he was more a friend than a worker. Absolutely love the lad. Conveniently located above Doncaster Interchange in Frenchgate, but that doesn't forgive the fact that as a result it is outrageously overpriced for drinks. Even though the service and drinks were good, I would only ever use here as a meeting point before a night out if I visited again

We came in here for a last-minute meal and were not disappointed. We came on curry night and really enjoyed them. Great tasting curries with good portion sizes. The jalfrezi is VERY spicy which suited myself wonderfully. Mixed with pleasant surroundings a nice meal out.

Clean facilities, nice food, brilliant staff, only knock backs are the fact that in our cutlery tin, we had a Ford with food still on it, and the chicken was crispy on the edges and you really had to chew it. Apart from that I would highly recommend coming here.

I came in to bring my wife for a meal on our 5 year anniversary before we went away and it was very busy and spoke to a young gentleman called Jules and he was impeccable at his customer service and professionalism and the experience was the most experienced I have ever seen, we eat out all the time but that service was unbelievable. Sat down instantly, orded on the app with three friends and within about 3minutes we had drinks brought to the table. Only a five or ten minute wait for food! Really nice staff and really clean. Need to have more vegan friendly food for the friends I think (although there is a legit green burger which apparently tasted delicious) but the meat platters are lovely Will be going again

Fantastic staff, great food and a decent place to eat but the air con could do with turning up, or down, whichever way you look at it, it was a little too warm in there... They used to do steak on a pie, which was a steak pie with another steak on top but sadly they stopped doing that but the roast beef Yorkshire pudding burrito is a close second... Worth a trip, not extortionate and good food...

Came here with some good friends as we came up to visit them. Food was nice and staff were nice. Only thing that puts off the 5* is that there was food and a dirty fork on the floor next to our table which we noticed as we were leaving. I hope whoever cleans the tables checks the floor in the future.

I had a chicken kebab which came with lots of coriander and red chiles and tsatziki. I thought this was an odd combo but it was absolutely delicious and was only £9! with chips. The kids said their burgers were delicious and everyone else in our party rated their food highly.

No fault with the food at all, very quick with the service. Just the waitress who was very snobby when I accidentally ordered the incorrect coke as I ordered a dash instead of a pint. Also she was a bit rude when clearing our table away as we was trying to help her by stacking our plates and my son was about to pass the plates to her and she was rude to him. Not sure if she needs some customer service training or retraining. I am happy to say that all the male waiters were fantastic.

Not as nice as it used to be. Meals no longer come with chips only salad (can purchase chips separately). I ordered hunters chickens, there were barely any bbq sauce and cheese. Although the meal was enjoyable and the dressing on the salad was very nice.

Great in there you can eat in there great if you have children too as they have TV with children's channel on so you can be assured you child is entertained so you can enjoy you meal and drinks in peace also have an outdoor balcony that you can going outside and have your food or drinks ideal if you are a smoker they cater for everyone highly recommended

The place is perfect, the food is amazing the dish I had was super tasty, there's a sign what says 'Please feel free to find a table' I love that, I know to sit down straight away, they do Coke Cherry too, I love it! I had a fantastic birthday meal today with my family. The staff were friendly and helpful. The food was done to perfection and the chocolate fudge cake was to die for. I cannot thank the staff enough for such a pleasant day.

We ended up eating here after both our first and second choices for a meal didn't work out but we were pleasantly surprised. Burgers are buy one get one free on Fridays, we ordered two route 66 burgers which were huge and delicious. The kids meals were also good quality and came with a massive ice cream sundae. Altogether meals for two adults and two children with drinks came to £33 which was great value for the food that we got.

Myself and my friends have started coming here on a regular weekly basis. Lots of choices on the menu, food is always well presented and tastes delicious but the best thing about this place is the staff. Always a werm welcome, very friendly and proficient. I would highly recommend the mallard to families, friends, couples and singles.

Almost identical to a Wetherspoons. So reasonable prices and standard fare. Right next to Doncaster Railway Station as the name of the famous steam engine suggests. Friendly staff and quick service. Extremely busy when we attended, but in fairness this was Friday lunchtime just prior to a bank holiday weekend. A very well oiled machine, with a pager style system in place to be notified when a table was available. A wait was therefore involved, but we were free to get drinks from the bar in the meantime. Good quality, well priced food and very attentive, friendly staff. For a Wetherspoons style experience, this alternative comes recommended.

The gammon wasnt very good to be honest, the pineapple burnt on one side and tasted like it was genuinely burnt to much. The chips was amazing! Egg was over done, staff was good and friendly.

This place is a pretty cozy pub that I usually visit for a drink, however I have had food from here and it was quite nice. You get your usual pub food here but it seems the place doubles up as a restaurant. As usual in pubs, you order from the bar, collect your drinks there and then and then go to your table and wait to be served your food. Not five stars only because this place is typically very busy and can often have a few loud people while the football game is shown on the TVs.

was great but really hit and miss what service we get one time we ordered a 2 curry's waited 40 min turned out they thought they already served us but didn't so we had to ask for a refund, yesterday we went was race day and the lady at the bar asked us to stand at the other side where it was extremely loud couldn't hear what she was saying due to the roudines of the bar side. but generally been good just recently been going down hill could be a one off :-(

We come to eat at the mallard quite often and normally I couldn't fault them with great customer service and amazing food. I'm here today and my partner got a pie with crust that was so hard I had to really press down using my body weight to cut through it. The sunny stacker burger had 2 rediculously dry burgers topped with the worst fried egg I have ever seen. I had the hellraiser burger which had a bun that almost disintrigated when I picked it up. A place this popular should never be handing out food as bad as the food we were served today. I am quite frankly discussed with the quality they thought was good enough to serve.

The staff are friendly, helpful and accommodating. Lovely decor, soft lighting and choice of window seating for those who prefer natural light. Food is nice, the servings are very generous and choice is good. Food intolerances are also catered for. There is disability access and a toilet accessible to wheelchair users. The location is perfect for those choosing to have their dinner / tea, after a day of shopping or walking around town and also for visitors to Doncaster. Train station is literally just 'right outside', so to speak and bus station just 2 minutes walk away, under cover. Only one downside, which is - no heating. Although, it must be said that it's often hardly noticeable due to enjoyable atmosphere, the heat of the kitchen and all the warm bodies, especially at busy times.🙂

been in a few times latley and theres 2 members of staff who are always polite and welcoming. one is a man behind bar called adam soon as i walk in he says hello how are you is there anything you need. always polite and welcoming even when you can hear hes rushed off his feet. other one is either dan or danielle i cant remember which he said his name was. hes so polite too always comes over asks if my guide dog would like any water or anything else. if he sees me going to loo he comes and unlocks door to disabled to save me struggling even if he was busy taking plates away you can hear him quick putting them down, hes such a lovley person both these 2 are assets to the pub and make the place seem so much nicer. when these 2 are in the place atmosphere seems so much happier and welcoming even when they get drunks shouting at them.

The fact I could order my 6m old a Heinz puree that came in a little dish was quality! 😂 I usually feel so bad when I'm eating and she's sat there watching me and there nothing she could really have other than a chip, so that was definitely a highlight for me which is quite sad. When this place first opened they had an American platter for £14 . It was well worth it. Plate was full and there was I believe 5 different meats. Some sort of beans. Coleslaw. Arrived with 2 young kids at what seemed to be rush hour, so expected an uncomfortable time. However, staff were efficient as could be and 2 seperate ones apologised for delays which was marvellous. Food wise, 8 & 4yr olds stuffed every last baked bean, always a rarity. I'm vegan & pub food can be a nightmare but ordered the vegan 'fish' & chips which was bloody lovely. Throw in a colouring competition for the kids & all in all a mighty experience. Decent beer too. Definitely be back.

This not the original Mallard pub in Donny as this is on my estate - Scawsby, however this does have better views of the railway station. Which is presently being turned into a grass lawn, with water fountains - just like Wakefield station. It has a small terrace for all you vapours & is ideal situated for trains, taxis or buses. But it will never have the atmosphere of the real Mallard as this hosts regular live bands / quiz nights.
