Rang to see if they were open for food and our call was answered by a lovely young lady saying the kitchen was open until 8pm. When we arrived we were greeted by the same young lady, we sat down and perused the menu which had a really good variety and selection of different dishes all at a reasonable price.The lady took our order and we didn't have to wait long before our food was brought out.Both our starters and main course were cooked fresh and to perfection and were really tasty, The staff were lovely and came a few times to check everything was ok with the food,it's been a few years since I was last at Burghwallis but will be venturing back very soon

We visited last night for the first time and stopped overnight in the car park in our motorhome. The Burghwallis is a really lovely pub with great hosts, very nice reasonably priced food and laid out brilliantly for social distancing, while still keeping the atmosphere of a pub. Felt very safe both inside and overnight in the car park. We'll definitely go back there

Went for Sunday lunch ,£9.95 for a two course pensioners !couldn't fault it ,carvery style ,choice of meats and very good choice of veg all well cooked !staff are also very polite and helpful, all in all a lovely experience!

New to motorhoming and this pub was recommended to us by others on Facebook. Owner was really nice, he's got EHC ready to set up if needed but we didn't need. Really easy to get to from the A1, 2 minutes drive if that! Food was beautiful. We'd already started eating before I snapped a photo, portion sizes were huge. REAL CHIPS! Would definitely recommend, if you're a motorhomer just give them a call!

First time there was really nice food nothing was too much trouble for staff, they even made a log fire as it was a bit cold, it soon warmed up. Also had a lovely atmosphere, will definitely go again.

Three stars is being generous because the front of house staff were very nice but the experience after that went downhill with surly carvery staff and a meal reminiscent of a school dinner in the 1960’s. We won’t be wasting our money on this place again despite it being only a mile from our home.

Went for Sunday lunch a few weeks ago.. Well worth it, true home cooked food. We hadn't booked so was just on the off chance but fortunately they accommodated us. I would recommend to book though beforehand. A great selection of meats on the carvery and plenty of varied veg plus proper mash both that instant get smashed stuff I've experienced at other venues!

We have been coming to The Burghwallis for a number of years now and absolutely love the place. The staff are extremely friendly and the ambience is very relaxing. The food is great, with varying theme nights and a Sunday carvery. There is a pool room, darts area, large dining area with a log fire; and bar area. The pub also has a large venue room which has ample space for all types of event. We have had quite a few family parties here and have been very well looked after.

Staff were lovely and polite. We ate outside as it was such a lovely sunny day but the outside view wasn't very nice looking onto the car park...shame! The food was ok but not amazing as the sign said the food was. The chips were soggy and greasy, although home made. As rhough the oil needed changing.I left mine but my husband had them as he was so hungry. The cheese and onion sarnie came without onions but the waitress quickly brought us all some onions on a plate. I can't make my mind up about this pub as to whether I would return if in the area again. Really lovely staff though as I said before.

We went on a Sunday and place was filled with families having what looked like a good Sunday dinner. I was there for a drink which I could not get as there was no seating left in the place and the bar was propped up by regulars. It might be different on any other day but just for a drink it doesn't seem the right place

Fabulous friendly pub that let us stay overnight in our campervan through Search For Sites! We would of never visited this place if it wasn't for them being on this site!! 😀 We had such a laugh in there with the great staff and locals (especially when I fell backwards in my chair!! 🤣🤣🤣) Fortunately I was ok!! 😀 Next time we are travelling north we will stay over again!! The landlord was really friendly, he couldn't do enough to make us feel welcome, BUT the food was very disappointing to say the least, we had 4 mixed grills in our party of 6, the meat was well over cooked, some was nearly cold, other bits were hot, the sausages were the cheapest you could buy, sorry but for the price they were it was a joke, if it hadn't been for the fact I didn't want to spoil the night I would have sent them all back, the lamb shank was quite nice but not very minty, I am sorry because the pub looked really nice and was very welcoming but they should sack the chef or stick to serving just drinks

Sunday roast is spot on but make sure you book for 12 any later and food runs out and doesn't get topped back up so lack of vegetables and Yorkshire puddings are always burnt outside and not cooked inside Thu k they need a new oven
