Lovely meal at Marr Lodge today...the carvery is huge, and my husband said it was delightful. I had salmon and Diane sauce which was beautiful, one of my mates had the mixed grill. The meals from the main menu came quickly so we could all eat together. Great value for delicious food.

Sunday carvery is busy and pre-booking is essential. You will have 1hr 30 mins for your meal which is probably enough for a table size of 8 or less. Queues can be a bit lengthy at the carvery itself but service by all the staff is generally friendly. Would definitely return.

So we popped in on our way home from a long walk and it was packed. Went to the lovely lady at the reception who said we could be squeezed in for an hour which we accepted and was promptly led to a table. We all had the carvery and hand on heart it was the best we've had in a long time. Everyone was so friendly which is important to my eldest son who has anxiety issues but he was calmed down by the way he was spoken to. The food was simply amazing and cooked perfectly. I had all 3 meats which were spot on. My Mrs had a pie and beef and she really enjoyed it. Lots of veg and condiments. We will definitely come back but will prebook so we can enjoy a dessert.

Only booked on Saturday evening for 8 people. Told when booking could only have table for one and a half hours, but it was about right length of time. 4 had regular carvery, 3 had mixed grill 1 had turf & surf with chicken. All meals were great. Also as it was a nice day we could have stayed and had a drink outside if necessary.

Given a warm welcome with a smile. The service was great. Plates not warm and the food could have been hotter. Had roast and veg, all very tasty and cooked ok. Will go again. The tables were cleaned soon after the diners left.

Called in on the way back from shopping in Wakefield on a Sunday and managed to get a table for 4 this was my first visit the carvery meal was beautiful only thing I didn't enjoy was the cabbage it tasted like it had been finely chopped and forgotten to cook it at all. The staff were very helpful and the bar staff were very friendly I will definitely go again.

Very friendly welcome from the front of house staff, easy to order.. the food was delivered quickly and cooked as required.. Good portion sizes and very reasonable prices.. The pleasant atmosphere was very relaxed, kitchen staff were happy in their work as all you could hear when you past was singing. Was a real pleasure to see.. will definitely return.

Lovely pub and carvery. Only there for a couple of hours for the carvery but really enjoyed the food and atmosphere. Would recommend. The carvery has 3 portion sizes, I had the largest and was comfortably full without a dessert, the regular was more than enough for my partner and her daughter who also didn't feel the need for a dessert. Plenty of drinks selection.

Pub restaurant featuring a carvery too, fair menu and fair drinks range... reasonable prices... not really geared up for large parties ( as ours was ) and that was reflected in the dishes served being warm and not hot and a number of items missing from plates ... ribs were good despite only being warm and items missing as mentioned earlier..

Visited Marr Lodge to meet friends for some lunch. It was quiet when we arrived but became quite busy before we left. We opted for the carvery and were served almost immediately. Standard fayre was on offer, although tasty and hot. We did attempt to reserve a table on line ahead of the visit but this option was not available. I did notice several tables were already reserved when we arrived which I thought odd. We were also instructed to wear face coverings whilst moving around which we and all the other customers did too. However I also thought it odd that none of the staff were wearing masks like we had been instructed to. If you are looking for standard pub grub, then this place is for you. It's not high end dining. However, all the staff were polite and courteous.

I took my step father to Marr Lodge for his birthday meal yesterday. It was our first visit. We've been talking about going for a few years but obviously "you know what" got in the way! From the road the Lodge doesn't look very big but it actually goes back quite a way. There's a large well maintained beer garden out the back with a covered smoking area. Inside its very bright and airy, it's lovely and clean, the decor is modern and pleasant. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The food we ordered was brought to us hot and within 30mins. It was delicious and way too much for us to finish. Great value for money. Overall the prices seemed fair. They had a good selection of beers and wines. All in all we really enjoyed our meal and will most definitely be visiting again. I'd recommend Marr Lodge to everyone.

Lovely place that's always clean and tidy and the food is always amazing. The staff are sooo friendly and the lady who runs it is sooooo thorough! You can tell she runs a really tight ship but by being the way she is it makes everything run like clockwork!! I like that when she's got a minute she will come and talk too. It's a nice little personal touch. I'd highly recommend

When to Marr Lodge on Saturday for my husband birthday and we was not disappointed the food was fantastic as always and the staff was amazing, very friendly and very polite they are a credit to the owners. Would recommend going there for something to eat. 😁

Wen for Sunday lunch... Gorgeous.... Had the softest pork and roast beef proper veg and proper gravy even the roasters wernt of the frozen variety 😁 well worth it around £10 for carvery I think... and they kiddies portions too! Friendly staff.. And chickens!..... They have chickens round the back in the garden area a lovely Sunday afternoon... Thankyou... We will be back

Really lovely. Celebrated with family and friends a 21st birthday recently. The section we had was laid out really nice with attention to detail. The meals were really lovely and tasty, as was the desserts several of us had. The staff on duty that Tuesday evening were fab. Nothing was any trouble and we were looked after splendidly. Hats off to them. I would recommend you try Marr Lodge, I'm sure you won't be disappointed.

This was the first time we ever visited this place. It was a Sunday and the carvery was fantastic. Meat portions were definitely bigger than you get at a Toby Carvery or similar. There were 4 of us and we all really enjoyed our food. One slight improvement would be to have roasted parsnips, but you can't have everything!

Called in Marr Lodge for a meal at tea time. It wasn't packed and although we hadn't booked we were shown to a table. My friend had a carvery dinner and I had a carvery bap. My friend enjoyed her meal and so did I. My 'bap' was a baguette full of several layers of roast beef with 4 or 5 roast potatoes and a jug of really thick lovely gravy just for me. Only critical thing slightly was that I only had a choice of beef or pork but I would have probably chosen beef anyway. We will definitely call again

I'm a vegetarian so the only downfall was that I wasn't made aware of all the vegetarian options available on paying. No vegertairian gravy to hand, had to request & wait for this once I was sat down with my food & felt I would've been forgot about if I hadn't reminded the waitress staff! They were extremely busy though. Also I don't think the vegetables were fresh as they tasted like frozen. Apart from this we enjoyed our meal out 😊

Went here for a bit of lunch. Generally the pub is clean and pleasant atmosphere plenty of parking to the rear. Had fish and chips. Which everything was fine maybe the fish was a little bit greasy. But the batter was perfect so I guess it was just the fish on the day.

Popped in on the off chance and wasn't disappointed! Lovely chatty staff, nice food, good service and a nice atmosphere. We missed the 2 for £12 deal but the main menu was good. I had lasagne salad & garlic bread.....beautiful! Hubby had a chilli burger & enjoyed it thoroughly, very meaty he said. Reasonably priced £8.25 & £7 respectively (approx). They do a wine & steak night on Thursday, 2 8 oz steaks & a bottle of wine £20. Will be having a try at that very soon!

Went for Sunday dinner with a pre-booked table. Prices are average. The food was nice, I had mince meat pie as the choices of meat on Sunday carvery weren't great. Here's the problem, we waited nearly 30 minutes in line to get the food. Obviously not just us, everyone. It was a half hour wait for carvery, one guy serving meat, not very fast as you can imagine. That's really the only thing putting us off going back here, never anywhere else have I ever had to wait in a carvery line half an hour. Not else I can mark it down for, staff were really nice and the place is clean.

An excellent Sunday carvery to finish the day off after being at the local swimming centre. Probably the best Sunday carvery I've had in a long time, well worth the 25 minute wait as we hadn't booked with a party of 8. A well presented restaurant and very pleasant team of staff, reasonable prices depending on the size of your plate. We've never been before but we'd certainly travel the distance from Scunthorpe again, well worth the distance and time.

Nice Carvary, conveniently near the A1 (about 1 mile) to pause for lunch. Order and pay at the Bar, then take the token to be served. I had the medium sized portion, next time I’ll be going for small. Really good home made Yorkshire Puddings, which are offered as a light meal with gravy.

Came by this place by chance. The decor is great and we enjoyed the choice of music quietly playing during our meal. The food arrived quickly and was fantastic value. I had the Cajun chicken and rack of ribs and me wife had the plain chicken. The meals came with lovely chips, beer battered onion rings and peas - which I swapped out for beans (which was not a problem for the staff). The woman showing us to the table was very competent and professional. Only issue: when food is ready there's a mildly annoying doorbell sound but that is all. Will definitely go back as it's worth the journey.

Ordering at the bar and staff having a conversation with each other. Bad customer service. Coleslaw did not look or taste homemade as stated on menu. I did enjoy my food though. My husband ordered fish gougons in a baguette but got one undercooked gougon on half a baguette. He was very disappointed. When leaving there were several staff circulating around the exit and not one thanked us or said goodbye. I manage a catering business and know what company's expect from staff. There was plenty, if Not, too many staff. So they were under no stress at all. We won't be returning.

This place is just 5min from junction 37 on the A1 it does a carvery with 3 different plate sizes to suit the smaller or larger appetite. There is also a extensive menu available including steaks and burgers, it also has a range of lagers and beers and I found the staff polite and helpful. When you come off the A1 you take the road towards Barnsley to a little village called Mars

We sometimes visit Marr Lodge on a Sunday for the carvery and we are very rarely let down at all the food is very nice and have a consistently high quality the staff are quite friendly and the service is quick and efficient the only issues really I like sometimes it can be quite busy and you can be waiting a little bit to be seated or served but that is just Testament to the popularity it has and I am glad it's there I am a regular customer and will continue to be so

Fab!!!was very busy day due to being Easter stupid me didn't prebook. A lady (I believe in charge) saved the day sorted a table out for us saved us waiting around an hour with two kids.
