Absolutely lovely, friendly & welcoming staff. Great meals and good variety for everyone Inc vegetarian and vegan. Don't know whether there is a kids menu as I didn't ask but if not there is still plenty of choice from the main & extras menu. Dog friendly area in back room and staff are just as welcoming to them too. 100% recommend.

Lovely Sunday lunch. Beef brisket and pie of the day with all the trimmings, gorgeous. My husband very impressed because he got a Yorkshire with his pie. All staff brilliant too, very on the ball. We will definitely be going back. Highly recommend booking especially on a Sunday

What a fantastic pub, full of atmosphere with great staff. It's great to walk into somewhere were everyone's happy and keen to help. Don't lose the chef guys the roast beef dinner I have just eaten was fantastic. The beef melted in my mouth and the vegetables were fresh as if they had just been picked. I have allergies, but honestly nothing was to much trouble All I can say on closing is I'll see you guys again soon and thank you

I have to admit that my meal of lamb was excellent, although my wife had beef and was not impressed. We were there for Sunday lunch. This is one of the hotels that is more interested in profit and numbers rather than quality of food or service. This demonstrated by packing as many tables as possible in the space they have, which is not for us. We will not be back.

Two of the 3 meals were excellent, I had the pie which, the 2 pieces of meat that were in it was good but it had like a dark brown jelly substance which wasn't nice which put me off eating the rest of the pie, the crust was very nice and the chips were excellent. The lady took the price of the pie off our bill which was good of her.

Bar staff where welcoming and chatty, ambiance good unfortunately the chilli was so hot my wife couldn't it and my Fillet steak would have better as a sole for my shoes it was that well done. I asked for medium rare and sent it back. The poor waitress returned with and said that it continues to cook and it was medium, what an insult. I sent it back. My next fillet was cut into three apparently to help it cook absolute joke!!!

Customer service was good. Steak pie was pretty good, would have preferred a little bit more pastry and a little bit more gravy but I haven't give 4 starts for this as it was homemade and was lovely. Atmosphere was homely. Would visit again. Thanks for a lovely evening 🙂

What a gem of a find this pub was. A traditional pub which was bright clean and welcoming. staff really friendly and Attentive. Menu choice really good for the size of the pub. We all had trouble deciding what to have as the choices all sounded delicious, and the food didn’t disappoint. All starters mains and pudding were cooked and presented at a high level. Been going for a few years. Last experience was terrible but this time back to usual high standard. The Sunday lunch has changed back to dishes of veg to help yourself. I think prices might have increased but this is inevitable. Lovely dinner. Took our niece for her first visit as she loves a roast. Lamb Henry was enormous. Loved the veggie option. The staff love our dog and we Sue is fab. Sorry for posting a negative comment previously but I was in shock. Staff are always friendly and helpful. Came here for Sunday lunch with my 2 daughters, Staff were polite and helpful as it was busy and we had not booked a table prior and they did there best to accommodate us which was much appreciated. The roast beef brisket was delicious and my daughters had no complaints about the turkey dinner and they can be fussy with there food!! The desserts were beautiful and reasonably priced. The bonus was the lovely pint of birra morreti. Will definitely be coming back more regularly. Highly recommended.

Went here one one of the hottest days for our first visit. What can I say , very hospitable staff , friendly quick service. Lovely food and drink and was a nice place to spend Sunday afternoon. Went today for an evening meal with my partner and didn't have a reservation yet they managed to squeeze us in, I do recommend booking as it can get busy here. We both ordered the rib eye steak with Diane sauce, the meal not only looked good but also tasted amazing. The staff were very friendly and asked several times if our meals were ok and if there was anything else they could get us. The reason I have given 4 out of 5 stars is because my partners steak had a large amount of fat in it compared to normal and she was not happy, this was brought to the attention of two members of staff who apologised but did no more. I would still recommend this place as other than my partners steak the food is great, staff are nice and friendly and they have a lovely outdoor seating area.

This is a very welcoming pub, good car parking, outside beer garden and dog friendly, a real good menu selection with a few favourites and homemade selections but please take an appertite because although there is a lite bite menu, the mains are quite large, we foolishly had a starter before ordering the mixed grills and the only thing missing was an egg but i fear thats only because the wasnt anywhere to put it, the plate was brimming with meat and was starting to pile to a second level, all supurbly cooked washed down with a real good bar selection of ales and spirits and welcoming staff and host, there is no doubt we will return, a brilliant evening thankyou

Been for a family Xmas meal tonight, always hard going out as elderly family are not great with hearing, we have thoroughly enjoyed it and found the place lovely, not crowded and also not loud so everyone could hear everyone. Only thing I would comment on is I added someone on later then when I booked and paid deposit of £5 and this was not deducted off the bill. Overall good night

We ordered the take away Christmas Dinner and it was amazing. We always go to the ship over Christmas for a meal after seeing the lights in bawtry, obviously this year we couldn't but the food was still as good the staff were brilliant they altered our pudding choice as we didn't like what was on the menu. Our food was still piping hot once we got home despite traveling 20 mins. Was well worth it can't wait to come and visit again when everything is open again!

Had a family lunch for my daughter in laws birthday last Friday. Food was awesome, service good and hand pulled beer excellent. Get the feeling that the kitchen is capable of even better things. Watch out for the specials, we will all be going back again as it was a real treat. I want to try some of the more unusual things on that menu as the food that came out for other people made my mouth water. Very reasonable cost too.

2 of us had lunch on Mon 5th Oct & we were both delighted with our meals & the great service. I had lasagne, chips & salad which was delicious but I couldn't manage it all so they kindly offered to box the rest up for me to takeaway. My friend had venison which was also delicious & plentiful. Sadly we had no room for puddings so just had coffee after. After I got home I realised I'd lost my poppy brooch so rang the Ship & they looked round & found it. Very impressed with the meals & the friendly service. I will definitely be back.

Popped in on a Wednesday afternoon. Very pleased with the track and trace sign in and the clearly signed one way system, everything felt extremely well organised. We both had a 'light bite' of filled ciabatta with chips and homemade coleslaw. All very tasty and a substantial 'light' lunch. The coleslaw was exceptional for it's fresh delicious taste. Highly recommended!

Good food poor hospitality!! Four friends and myself wanted some easy food post racing session at Doncaster. Table reserved we were eased. Upon arrival a tall unpleasant woman took one look at us and said other side as we walked into a room full of diners. This is a common theme for this member of of staff. Once in the other bar the second lady, equally unpleasant couldn't even get 5 pints of lager correct. The third lady that took our order was equally as rude this is what we have these are the specials now order! Great food awful staff. Bawtry is such a rude place!!!!

Just moved to the village next door to The Ship so decided to try there recommended Sunday Lunch and my was we impressed. We hadn't booked a table (which is advisable) but we managed to be seated and the food and drink is amazing the place was packed to the point that the Sunday Dinner menu sold out while we were there. Food was good. Barnsley chop looked very good. Fish and chips were a bit overpriced and i think the oil the fish was fried was a little old as the batter was dark and had a slight burnt flavour. But a very good range menu, wished i had the barnsley chop instead of the fish and chips.

Loved it, definitely call again. We called in on our way to York today on the off chance we could eat lunch. We were met by a lovely lady who quickly found us a table number 2, even though they were really busy, we ordered drinks at the bar and sat down, we both chose the roast, my husband had the mixed meats, I had the OAP portion of the brisket, it arrived and oh my goodness I thought mine was a large portion, my husband's was enormous, he remarked that ALL the meat was moist and tasty, my brisket was as tender as possible, I will be honest I do prefer my meat much rarer BUT that is my own personal opinion, not everyone is the same are they, the vegetables were cooked to perfection and the large Yorkshire Pudding really tasty, the gravy was to die for, all in all excellent value for money, we will be back, the little blonde barmaid was so lovely, very helpful and made us feel welcome, the staff have been well trained and everyone seemed happy, many thanks to each and every one of you, we had a lovely Sunday Lunch. For me it was more about allowing me and my family the opportunity to reunite after the death of my dad. There were 9 of us, and everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meal, with a great range of quality food, even desert, I was both shocked and happy to pay a £175 food bill. It was on my dad, although I wished he could have been there.

Turned up to grab some amazing food and it didn't dispointed coming here - the food was fast and so nice, you have some great option even on a Sunday with it only being a 'Lunch' menu. I had heard lots of good things about the ship inn so gave it a try with a friend...don't know if they were having an off day but we waited forever for our food..nearly an hour..there was only us in...my friend had fish and chips and they were over cooked and the fish had gone really dry... I had something off the specials board that was so special that it was tasteless and boring....sorry ship inn but we do need to be honest.

A very welcoming pub after going to several other's on a Sunday and being told that food stops being served at 4pm or 6pm for a Sunday menu only, yet hey take a leaf out of the ship's book cause not only do they do a Sunday dinner menu but also you can have anything off the main menu aswell and a child's menu was offered for my daughter which was great cause she can be very fussy, they looked after us very well, so will be back in the future 😁
