Had a delightful meal, staff were kind enough to let us have a late meal due a bad experience from a previous restaurant. Sweet chestnut had made everything amazing. Couldn't fault not one part of it. Fantastic guys! Absolutely amazing. My food was excellent, cooked to perfection.

Taken to a table, drinks order taken quickly then the food order. I misheard the staff saying extra when asking about onion rings. The Hunters Chicken dish comes with onion rings, I thought she said Would I like onion rings? The food was hot, tasty . I also ordered a dessert, a comfortable wait in between courses.I paid the bill leaving a tip, noticed the charge for extra onion rings which I didn't receive. I pointed this out to a female staff member who was not in uniform, assuming she was the Manager. I was offered £1.45 refund but I declined as it was such a small amount. I was assured the error would be pointed out to the kitchen staff.

Great food, excellent service, friendly staff. We all had burgers, and we loved both the burgers and the chips (thin and crispy). We then had desserts - 2 x Lemon cheesecakes and one Rock Road sundae - and we thoroughly enjoyed these dishes. Our server was Jodilee, who was lovely - she didn't rush us to order, but was also quick to spot when we were ready to order. Jodilee was great.

Stayed here 3 nights room very clean, bed really comfy. The pub/restaurant side food good great atmosphere and the staff never seen such a friendly, cheerful bunch of people. Defo will recommend here and hopefully will be able to stay again next year.

Excellent service by waiting staff and fast delivery of food to one of our tables. Unfortunately the kids were at the other table and bythe time the sausages arrived they were very much overcooked and not palatable to an autistic sausage eater. The veggie chilli was fabulous!!!

Disappointed. We booked for breakfast, but on arrival were told they were only taking hotel guests but we could go in as booked. The menu did not reflect the choice. There was only 7 eggs so we couldn't have omelette or scrambled eggs. Coffee out a flask was luke warm. No pain au chocolate as they couldn't find them, but when they did, we couldn't have them as they were frozen. Offered sauce for breakfast sandwich, left an empty bottle on table. Been here a few times for meals in the past, but will now find another place to meet up with friends and family. Shame as used to be a nice place to go to.

I have had enjoyable visits to here before, but had a horrible experience last week. Unfortunately our server couldnt get our drinks order right (2 of the same soft drink) even after asking us twice for our drinks order. Had to wait for 5 mins after getting our food before someone brought us cutlery. The table beside us appeared to have the same problems as us, despite a simple drinks order as well. A lot of the staff were very unapologetic for everything happening and didnt acknowledged their mistakes. The food itself was average, the roast beef quite chewy. Person on the carvery however was lovely, cut good portions and delivered our yorkies straight to our table promptly as they had just ran out when we got up to the counter. The woman who took over serving our table just as we were leaving was on it as well, too bad our experience had been ruined before hand.

Great service, and good meal times. My only issue was that passing 1 or 2 members of staff looked quite bored and tired. I appreciate that it was quiet, but seeing someone look bored and leaning on their service point was a bit off putting.

Good choice of reasonably priced food and drinks with excellent deserts. Also have a vegetarian option available for the carvery lunch. Visited here on a Sunday lunchtime for the carvery and managed to get a table without any problems. Combined our lunch with a takeaway of two of the fantastic cakes on offer to eat later.

Stayed overnight at the accommodation, very clean. Went to the pub for dinner and breakfast. Dinner was nice, slightly slow between courses but not a problem for us. Staff working hard with reduced staff in the kitchen due to social distancing. Breakfast was good although no continental options due to social distancing. Had a lovely tasty breakfast. I had the omelette and really enjoyed it. Plenty of tea, coffee, fruit juice and toast. I normally have peppermint tea, which I couldn't find. But not a problem, had plenty of orange juice. The young girl serving was lovely and helpful, very attentive and polite. The manager was very friendly and knowledgeable when we asked some questions. We stopped coming here a while ago. Heard it was under a different management, so decided to try again. We are now booking for the carvery. Thank you for a great experience

Budget friendly Dinners, you get what you pay for but the staff have a sense of humour and seem happy to help . Slightly stingy portions for the prawn cocktail starter, most of the glass was filled with wilting lettuce. Huge portions for the main which made up for it. No problems using the voucher for our free pudding either.

So if you are looking for somewhere to stay in Dunfermline that is nice comfortable and very reasonably priced look no further. The rooms are large beds very comfortable and good air con. Nice touch with the biscuits 😜 .very handy for airport what is just 20 mins drive or get the bus from nearby park and ride. Loads of restaurants and entertainment nearby. Is on the main bus route if you want to explore fife and further afield. I didn't eat in the attached restaurant but was busy so must be popular. Would have given 5 stars only let down was the keys to the rooms blinking out but everything else amazing

I visited the Sweet chestnut with my mother in law who has cancer and has limited mobility. This is our second trip there. We booked in for two nights. Despite being short staffed due to covid isolation rules the staff on shift were excellent! They were friendly, polite and nothing was an issue for them, they made our stay fabulous and kept up updated with opening times and updates. The restaurant could not serve from main menu however they kept the carvery open and this was delicious and fresh with fresh desserts available too. There were around 3 or 4 staff in all and also chamber maids for hotel/inn. Andrew in the restaurant and Ashley were fantastic and my mother in law loved her time there as did I. there were also two other staff one of which served carvery on Sunday who was pleasant and cheery and the other staff member was on shift on Monday night was the same and made sure we had everything we needed including lovely fresh roast potatoes!. They all had smiles and were welcoming to customers coming in including us. We will back to visit again in Spring time and I hope those staff are on! They would be an asset so any staff team! A busy Mother’s Day and tables were full inside and out due to good weather, we’d booked and got our table no bother, The manager apologised about how busy it was but he really didn’t need to but nice gesture. The young girl serving us ( Gemma? ) took our order quickly as we’d said we just wanted Carvery as my husband was heading to work, she took our drinks orders and then explained there was an issue with the drinks machine but she be as quick as possible. She then brought our Carvery vouchers right away and put cutlery etc down whilst we went up to get our food. She asked if we were ok, did we need anything g else? All in all great service considering how busy it was for food, and people outside constantly ordering drinks. Manager thanked us for coming when we left, me spologisec again, but we had no complaints we’ve used the restaurant a few times and skyways had good food and good service. A really well organised team who seemed to all worth together and manager was assertive and observant when he saw people waiting etc. 10/10 for everything.

My Husband enjoyed the full breakfast and it was well presented. I would recommend the poached eggs. When you order any of the hot breakfast food you are entitled to help yourself to the continental breakfast items. As much hot drinks as you want. I will be coming back.

Fantastic place, the service is one off the of the best around. Our meal which was the carvery and kids meals were great. The gravy especially seems alot better since I haven't been since lockdown. Ross and Brooke attended to my wife and elderly mother in law when they visited last Friday evening. The menu was limited as the fryers were down - mum was disappointed as she was looking forward to fish and chips - Both Ross and Brooke were very patient and took time to discuss other options - they were both very pleased with their food choices _ large portions / well presented and very tasty - both members of staff were polite and friendly throughout despute working under difficult circumstances which were totally out of their control- their can do attitude and naturally pleasant demeanour are a credit to the establishment.

Service was great. Really could not fault the staff Its a nice place to eat, warm and inviting. Outside is beautiful playing music, seating area with nice lights. We found it very expensive though £71 for 2 starters, 2 sides (which was mains for 2 teenagers), 3 main meals especially as its all premade and heated up. 2 pints tennant, 4 cokes and an appetiser. Worked out to be £15 each which doesnt sound bad but teenager had water with her starter and side (chips) as a "main meal" so feels very expensive. Carvery was freshly prepared and good. Went to McDonald's for a mcflurry to save a few pennies!

I walk into the Sweet Chestnut and straight away i could tell someone else was in charge. Big guy with glasses with a Newcastle accent think the power had gone to his head. Told me i need to track and trace every time i come in. I've been to the Sweet Chestnut many times and have only been asked to do it the once. The rest of the staff were friendly and helpful food and drink were good too.

Below normal standards, had run out most items on the menu - no pie, no fish, no pigs in blankets, so had to opt for the carvery, only to find no roast potatoes , the yorkshire puddings and vegetables on offer were lukewarm at best. Was offered chips instead of roasties, they weren't crisp, were lukewarm and like cardboard. Really disappointed and will have to think twice now about returning. Used to be a really nice place to go to, sadly times have changed.

We've been to this place countless times. So it's not a surprise I've rated it 4 stars. Staff are always pleasant and helpful but service was a bit slow( quite a long wait between courses)this time. The biggest disappointment had to be dessert. A few of our favourite desserts were out of stock. Come on guys...you shouldn't run out of the classic dishes!!

Came with a scoop of ice cream on the side. 3/5 as the portion was huge. Too big. Will I be back? Maybe. No tip for the not so interested staff. Quite hefty guy who looks a lot like the guy who used to work at brewers fayre (now harvester).

Ok, so the price for full breakfast went up from £5.95 to £6.95 recently, but it's still good value. All you can eat from the continental selection (including yoghurts, croissants, Danish pastries, toast etc) as well as fruit juices, plus a coffee (or tea) and a plate of cooked Scottish. Helpful staff, nice place, but if you're a skinflint like me, be prepared to spend a while getting your money's worth! It'll see you though the day, alright!

Really nice place. I went for the carvery- wasn’t sure how it would be as the selection changes daily. Turned out to be amazing (the pigs in blankets were 👌). Went with a very large group for a birthday and the staff were very accommodating and helpful. My only issue was with ordering times. If some people pick the carvery and others order from the menu then you can end up eating at different times, but other than that it was very good.

Stayed at the Marston's Inn next door that is part of the Sweet Chestnut, as part of a large party. Room was spacious and clean, bed was very comfortable!! Corridors smelled of fresh paint and carpet and seemed as though the place was very well kept. Would certainly recommend staying here rather than somewhere else that may be double the price.
