Great place to have a bite to eat. Small amount of parking around to the rear. This place always appears to be busy but do ask as they can usually squeeze you in. The food served here is always of good quality. The servers are always polite, prompt and well presented. It does have a sports bar feel to it but if you choose a table to the rear of the building it feels more comfy. The toilets were spotless. A nice touch was getting a five pound voucher for our next visit.

Hadn't been in for a while but the food, as always, was excellent. Had the Scampi. My wife and our family friend had the Fish. Novelty idea serving it in a wooden box !!! Staff were great to. Recommended.

We arrived on Thursday 29th December at 2pm. We requested the lunch deal advertised , only to be told by our lovely server that this was unfortunately not an option. We ordered drinks which took an age to come as did the food. I needed another drink so went up my self rather than wait on the server. It was only then that I realised there was only one girl behind the bar and one girl serving the meals. The girls were brilliant and very polite. Considering they were under so much pressure. Girls were great as was the food but would have been a better experience if the girls had help. Well done girls under difficult circumstances.

Although our family Christmas Eve meal was spoiled by extreme disorganization problems, the food itself was good. It was very busy and we had pre-ordered our meals as requested, but that didn't seem to help avoid the very lengthy wait to be served our starters and then in between every course following. Their Prawn Cocktail could do with improving the quality of the prawns and the Mare Rose sauce and providing butter with the bread and one of our family member's soup was cold, but the main Turkey Dinner course made up for those shortfalls. It was hot and tasty and well presented. I would go back to the Elizabethan because I feel our Christmas Eve experience was not a true reflection of what is obviously a very popular bar and restaurant. The Manager also dealt with our situation very well by refunding the cost of our meals. So top marks for Customer Service alone.

Meal was a meal if two halfs with the starters being beautiful and tasty and the mains below par. I had gammon steak. Sadly wasnt a gammon steak it was the end of a piece of roast gammon which is not the same. Starter was haggis spring rolls which were beautiful and homemade. The really dissapointing part for me was the state of the toilets. They were in disrepair but absolutely filthy. Toilets havent been properly cleaned for months by the look of them. Not acceptable.

What a friendly and welcoming pub,we were recommended with place from the B&B we were staying at .. from the minute we walked in they found us a table on a very busy Saturday evening our server was very polite and took our drink order.. very simple menu but very good choice.. as our food came out I forgot to take photo because I just wanted to try it.. wow wow wow .. overall outstanding food ..100% recommend.. Next time we are back in the area we will be eating here ..thank you

Our first visit to the Elizabeth and it was pleasant for the most part. The interior was well-decorated, tables separated with screens for privacy and the waiter who served us was welcoming and really friendly. Burger was great, salad was a bit bland and desserts were a bit disappointing as the sticky toffee pudding was dense, stale and sauce sickly sweet but portion was huge. Would visit again but probably not for desert.

OK place, food was mid range, the fries were swimming in grease and it took a long time for the food to arrive. The oddest thing is that there seems to be a lack of Elizabeth's theme for the restaurant. More a scaled-down Weatherspoons.

Great pub, great helpful waitress. Meal was fine. Unfortunately a fund raising band was on when we visited on Sunday 12th Dec. Which wasn't explained when we booked. Great music and singer but way too loud for people trying to have a meal. We all had to put in ear plugs and grandson sitting with ear defenders on. Asked waitress if could be turned down a little, she checked with the manager and he's said no it couldn't be turned down. Honestly when staff are having to wear masks it's difficult enough to hear one another. Just cannot understand why music could not have gone down even one notch. You could hear clearly what was being sang outside! I don't even think the singer was approached to be honest. The waiting staff were absolutely fantastic and did all she could, but I feel the manager should have approached ourselves and the singer, I'm quite sure they would have obliged. Will definitely think twice about returning which is a shame as its our local pub.

Visited recently on a Thursday evening as a party of 6 for a family birthday having passed the place many times. The atmosphere was cosy and appealing. We were sat in a booth which was lovely. Our questions were answered and adjustments to meals made with no issues. Food was very tasty and all 6 of us enjoyed our meals, no complaints. Toilets were very clean. Lost one star as service was a bit slow. Sat for 6pm and at 6:40pm we were still waiting to place our food orders. Birthday person received their mail for free which was lovely, and that included all courses, not just their main course. We hadn't known about this when we booked it but noticed a sign as we went in. Would definitely visit again.

Wow Elizabethan you pulled out all the stops. Staff could not have been more helpful, and efficient. It was our Abbeyview outdoor ladies night. 16 of us, and every single meal was faultless. We are a fussy bunch, and their was never a quibble. You did everything that had been requested, and on behalf of the ladies, who then went onto a show. A very big Thank You. Not only did you make a great start to our night. You have earnt more new customers, and voted another booking for next year. Please pass this onto your staff, at Halbeath. You can be very proud on a night when they where fully booked. We thank you.please to say been back again this year, and can only congratulate the staff again. Brilliant 18 of us this time and only great comments. Thankyou

Bit disappointed this time. Have been before and had delicious fish and chips. This time I had the Balmoral Chicken which was seriously overcooked and tough. However, the manager and chef were receptive to the criticism and took it off the bill. I understand this is a fairly new team so will try again at a later date.

Decent prices for drinks and there food is really good quality although the burger I got was a bit under seasoned I did not hold it against them as it must have been an in house hand made burger rather than an over processed over seasoned bought in burger. Have been to a couple of work parties here and they cater for larger numbers of guests very well. Staff are great, really friendly and helpful.

Good food, big portions. It is dog friendly and staff make pets very welcome. Large, airy dining area with lovely patio and marquee for outdoor dining. Car park gets full quickly and can, at times, be difficult to manoeuvre.

We had a meal here on Sunday . There was a wee issue with our starter, however the staff were fantastic , one waiter in particular called Alex was amazing, really fantastic at his job, he assured the rest of our meals and desserts were beautiful. Great service! Thank you Alex !

Really friendly staff and good food Just been back today (1/5/22) and the above still stands. The food was excellent and the staff were very helpful over little mix ups with steak sauces and resolved the problem very quickly. We had 2 roast dinners, 2 steaks and a miso pork. All were done exactly as desired and each was delicious. Not the cheapest you could find but definitely not overpriced considering the quality.

Service and staff interaction was excellent. Was the first time of being back since lockdown and some frustration due to the limited menu. But understandable. But overall, a bit disappointed with the standard of the food. Steak pie had some dry meat/overcooked, wings were tiny, onion rings were awesome, chicken Balmoral had a poor sauce and churros were overdone. Still nice to spend time with family and had a lovely time but we were trying to showcase the Elizabethan for the food especially and it let us down on that front sadly. But staff were incredible at the table.

Staff were excellent but table a little sticky. Waited for 20 mins to gets drinks and food order so meal came 1 hour after our arrival. That said the meal was beautiful. Steak absolutely melted in my mouth with a fab BBQ fire flavour. Only real complaint is himself felt the peppercorn sauce was bland and said he couldn't taste pepper. It was very m8ld but delicious. Recommend checking it out

Really good food, nice atmosphere was very busy but food times were great had the soup of the day which was very good and the hunters chicken, tried to order fish and chips as it looked very good but unfortunately they had no fish left by the time we came to order. We asked to split the bill and for receipts and took the guy fifteen minutes to do so, so maybe a little bit more training needed for the use of the tills.

Lovely food and great service and all covid related measures were in place, but the restaurant was freezing cold. Had to keep our coats on whilst eating so not a great dining experience. Staff were apologetic and advised had to keep temp down in a bid to stop virus spreading, which I understand, but I have eaten in other establishments recently without having to wear a coat!! This experience won't stop me visiting The Elizabethan in future, but not till the weather is warmer!

For me... was seeking some typical pub restaurant food so had the garlic bread with cheese for starter which was really nice then Haddock Pal which was a big portion: two fillets of fish + scampi with gourmet thick chips, some salad, tartare sauce and garden pea. Sat inside but also has some.tables / beer garden outside too.

The food was fine but it was so slow in coming we had to leave without desert. We were given a discount, a voucher and my desert in a box as an apology. I would say that you need to allow 2 hours for lunch then all would be good.

Went for lunch and arrived about 2pm, we were promptly seated and found It a nice place to sit and staff are friendly (although a little disorganised). There's were a couple of dishes that my wife wanted to order but both were off the menu because they'd ran out so she opted for the soup which she said was delicious. They have a good allergy/ intolerance awareness and provided a chart which had been ticked in house so choosing a dish for myself was very easy (lactose/ soya) I had the fajita wrap which was delicious and came with salad and tortilla chips, was a decent sized portion. Parking was easy, they have a car park at the rear of the building next to the entrance. No interesting views unless you're a train spotter but they do have TV screens throughout the premises. The cutlery could have been polished better but the wait time wasn't bad and the staff were nice.

Top notch food for reasonable prices, atmosphere is very pleasant. The pub section was popular and busy yet me and my partner had a lovely meal aside a fancy mini firelike feature in peace. Service very friendly and fast left us to enjoy our meal unless there was an empty glass or finished plate at our table to which was collected quickly. Highly recommended for your bar lunch or dinner in the area.

Went the day before to book a booth for my mums birthday to be told that they couldn't guarantee a booth My reply was can I not reserve a booth to be given some spiel about well um we don't book them Then to be asked how many for once I said six it was OK to reserve a booth She the wrote it in her book Arrived today to find the booths were all occupied I said I had booked but the incompetent waitress had wrote the booking on the wrong day too busy telling me how sick they are of people phoning booking booths and only two people turning up,!!!! Carry on with her attitude and I should think no one will turn up!!!!!! Ps the same person couldn't even get the drinks order right Visit was rescued by another very polite and pleasent waitress well done to her she is the reason for the stars otherwise you would have been lucky to get a star

Atmosphere is warm and friendly. The food is great, a bit expensive for lunch but you get lots on your plate. A good menue. Off road parking and good access for anyone using a wheelchair. It was busier than I have seen the resteraunt before and the staff looked stretched but managed to keep everything moving smoothly. These guys earned their tips today. The food was excellent again and presented very nicely. The atmosphere was really nice aswell. There is a nice cocktail menue and a gin menue which was interesting. The bar is very clean and apealing, also well stocked and a very busy young barman today. Thanks Elizabethan.

Good food at decent price however each time we have been the service has been extremely slow. Waitresses themselves have been great but feel the place is a little understaffed and this is where the issue comes from. Apart from that great wee place and would recommend as long as your not in a hurry.

We use the lizzy regularly as the food is excellent the staff cannot do enough to make you feel comfortable, my husband and myself went along last night to have the free birthday dinner and despite being very busy the staff were run off there feet they still got crayons for the kids and cleaned up a juice spill ,kept asking if we needed anything etc they are a lovely bunch .
