Reviews of The Red Lion Inn
O. V.
Came here on the last day of the year 2022 and what a brilliant way to finish the last lunch of the year! Delicious delicacies and very filling. The portions are pretty filling and don't miss their desserts! I can come back to Culross just for its amazing food.
The toilets are clean and maintenance is very good.
The place is Ambient. And the staff are very patient and courteous. Thank you for making our visit so fulfilling.
H. M.
Loved it. We just walked in but was extremely lucky to get a table inside, although there is a large marquee in the car park as it's such a popular place. They had a three courses option on the menu including steak for £29 so we went for that.
J. D. V.
The food was amazing but portions were quite large. Was quite full after so don’t worry about starvation lol. Also the staff was very nice!
G. S.
Really good food and friendly service. Nice painted ceilings and real fire give a warm feeling to the place.
M. R.
Absolutely delicious food! I had the special of the day lamb casserole and my husband had the chicken, ham and leek pie. It was the best pie we ever had! We also had fresh orange juice. The village is beautiful! The pub is very busy so book in advance. We were lucky to get a place. Great job managing the pub for sooooo many years :)
K.
Lovely characterful pub, friendly staff and good food in picturesque village.

Visited as part of a large family group, and on a night when the restaurant was particularly busy service was exceptional as was attitude of all waiters. Food was wonderful and with no delays considering the size of our party and workload on the chefs. Great value for money and a great experience!
K. S.
Cannot recommend this place highly enough. Visited on a super-busy Sunday afternoon; despite that, the waiting staff were BRILLIANT- really helpful, attentive and cheery. Food was excellent too.
Seldom have we visited somewhere where all the staff were completely across their jobs and had such a positive attitude with each other and the customers- no sullen faces. An absolute joy to eat in. Well done everyone!

So it's the first day we are allowed into restaurants this year and we decided to try the Red Lion Inn since it had been a long time since we were last there. The service was good, and the food was excellent. Walking into the Inn you could smell food and it's was good to smell food we weren't cooking ourselves for a change. We didn't have to wait long for food which was good as we were hungry. The portions are really good. I ordered the gammon steak and I kid you not it was nearly the same size as the plate. We really enjoyed the food. The only thing I would say (and this is not something to deter you from going there, it was their first day back at work in months so there are going to be a few teething issues on reopening night) was that the draught cola was a bit on the weak side, forgot to give us a new set of cutlery for out main course and when we wanted to pay our bill there was no one around to take our money. All in all it was an enjoyable meal and we will be back.

Great Hogmanay at the Red Lion. Food and drink. We chose classics: prawn cocktail, steak and chips and ice cream sundaes. All well prepared and cooked- steak a proper ‘blue’. Nice and friendly place to eat and celebrate. Thanks to the land lord/land lady for a fantastic evening!
C. K.
We booked a table for 8 people at The Red Lion for our friends 80th Birthday . & We had a fantastic experience 👏 . The menu was varied and offered very good value for money. The quality of the food and the staff and service was excellent, especially our waitress Scarlet was friendly attentive & efficient and overall she went above and beyond to ensure our celebration 🍾 meal was everything we hoped it would be.👍 🍰🥂 .

Next time your around the area pop in and give it a go .

Had my perants from South Africa visiting and was looking for a warm cosy place to eat. The Red lion Inn came highly recommended and it did not disappoint. The food was absolutely brilliant the servers were friendly and it was well priced. I can highly recommend it.
w. m.
Good food and doing well with friendly approach from staff in these Covid times. Half chicken excellent, kids meal good value, burgers OK but nothing special
K. G.
Excellent food and service, very friendly staff, it is such a lovely, warm and cosy pub with a great bar & atmosphere.
I would highly recommend booking into the Red Lion for lunch or dinner, wonderful place.
Culross is such a gorgeous village with great walks and places to visit.
s. a.
My absolute favourite place to eat. The food is incredible, the location is superb. You have to try the smoked sausage and curry sauce
M. B.
What a stupendous and amazing place to eat.
The service was excellent across the whole of our visit. Staff were lovely and very helpful. We were never left too long between courses. We were asked regularly if we needed more drinks, which is excellent as that's something that really frustrates me when you have to fight to get more than one.
Despite how busy it was, the service was very quick and we got our drinks, 2 courses and paid all within an hour.
The food was some of the best "pub grub" I've had the pleasure of eating. Everything was fresh and cooked to perfection. So much flavour and the portions were more than generous.
Highly recommended their pies, it melted in your mouth and left you wanting more.
It has a cosy and homely atmosphere and is very inviting.
Honestly can't recommend it enough and we'll definitely be back.
Definitely book in advance as the demand is high and I can see why.
Thank you Red Lion, you've earned a loyal customer.
J. T.
Lovely little pub in a very nice location.
Cosy and welcoming. Great food.
Plenty parking on and off site.
B. W.
Absolutely loved it . Attentive staff, great food, great ales , lovely atmosphere . quintessential Scottish experience . Exactly what we were looking for. Wouldn’t change a thing

First time back since new owners took over. Great food , great atmosphere even happy to alter the menu slightly . Thanks for a great Saturday afternoon we will be back . Folks we were a party of 5 remember still as busy so book !!!!
R. B.
Friendly helpful staff, First class local beer. park at the west end of the village and walk the sea side path and step into the backyard of the pub.
R. M.
Quite busy. Lunch outside under canvas because we had the dog. Meal was good. Disabled access and parking.
R. G.
Lovely wee pub/restaurant, lovely atmosphere, good menu lovely specials board! Everything freshly cooked and well presented! Really enjoyed!
D. W.
Great to be back at the Red Lion - now community owned. Friendly staff, lots of seating outside and menu suitable for allergies. Great they still have the surprise in the ladies.
B. S.
A great selection of fabulous food and the quality is excellent. Also a relaxed atmosphere with very friendly staff. We had a fantastic 2nd visit.
J. R.
Good food, great atmosphere. Very friendly and efficient staff. Very popular traditional Scottish pub. Amazing decor. Well worth a visit as is Culross. A real gem on the Fife coast. Had to park in the main village car park a little bit of a walk away from the pub but easy to drop people off.
p. c.
We stopped in to this charming restaurant in this picturesque village after our first time driving on the opposite side of the road and the steering wheel on the opposite side of the car. We were really stressed, though it got easier eventually.
The staff and customers were very friendly and nice to us, and I had their very excellent ham and lentil soup, and a ploughmans meal. My only regret was that I didn't ask for the soup recipe, though I plan to write and ask for it.
If you're looking for a good meal in a charming place with friendly service, I highly recommend the Red Lion.
I. M.
Good Scottish food, very local and one of the best inns around Culross.
S. M. G.
The food and service was perfect the menu is just the job, we had Steak and Haggis pie and a Trucker's Supper and Sticky Toffee pudding with custard, if you go into the Ladies Loo watch out for the guy with the Kilt Ladies!!! 😂
G. G.
Had an excellent lunch, can recommend the Chicken, Ham and Leek Pie. Extremely popular venue. We were in the marquee which has been erected in the car park. Lovely in hot weather but staff need to check the benches and tent flaps for rainwater that can enter when the breeze arrives unexpectedly.
Z. B.
A friend took me here for a birthday meal whilst visiting him from Leeds. From the second i saw the pub i was impressed, so quaint. We walked in and we're greeted by a smiley bar maid, a friendly gent took us to our table and served us water without having to ask for it (very nice little touch!). It took me a while to decide what to eat as everything on the menu looked incredible, after much debate i settled on chicken ham and leak pie. After a short wait the food arrived, it smelt amazing and tasted even better. Everyone around the table were happy with their meals. Even managed to stuff in a pudding too! Perfect end to my birthday. Friendly staff, amazing food and lovely atmosphere. I would definitely recommend. However just be careful ladies as if you go to the toilet there's a wooden lifesized Scottish man who scared the hell out of me! Ha
s. i.
Very recommended! Delicious ,good service.
R. J.
Lovely pub in a beautiful village. Great menu and the food was excellent. Would recommend steak znd ale pie the flavour was all there. Staff were very pleasant and friendly. Service was 100% would return and recommend.
D. F.
This is a very popular place to eat and you need to book in advance to get a table. We went for Sunday lunch, 4 adults 1 child 1 toddler. The food was good and plentiful, but did take a while to reach us. Very cosy inside - the one side had a fake fire going as it was quite a windy and cool day outside. There is a small bar area then through to another small area near the kitchen entrance and bathroom facilities which lead out to an outdoor area, with covers that can be pulled down in case of bad weather.
All in all, a good experience. Price wise- my half chicken with chips and salad was £13.95 as was my husband's large chicken schnitzel with chips and salad - very large portions.
A fun and silly note -
Ladies - take a look at the paintings on the walls and ceilings in the bathrooms....quite entertaining!!
M. B.
Nice pub restaurant in a lovely setting. Friendly & keen staff and fairly priced. One can see why it's crowded.
M. Y.
The Red Lion is fab. It's been a while since we ate there only because we haven't been out that way in a while. However they never fail to please. The food was as always, delicious. We were greeted by a pleasant smiling girl and although we didn't book ahead, we were seated quickly. We both chose chicken salsa wraps, which came with chips and side salad. These were good portions. We were asked if we required anything extra ie sauces etc and revisted during our meal to make sure everything was OK. The cost was very reasonable and a testament to the good food, was one of the waitresses took her break and was eating one of the specials of the day, Beef and wild mushroom Stroganoff which looked yummy. I would highly recommend eating in The Red Lion. They also have outside tables in a large gazebo.
K. M.
As a regular customer for food I could not recommend a better place to dine. The food is always supberb with a great choice at great prices. It's very quaint and cozy atmosphere, perfect for families couples and group meets. You will always be greeted with a warm welcome from the staff. If you prefer to you can sit outside with you're dog and take in the fresh sea air from the forth and the views. Highly recommend for tourists as well. Culross is a historic Scottish village steeped in history. Some well known movies and series have been shot there.
J. A.
Just back from have a late lunch and it was amazing. Staff are very helpful and friendly. Great choice of food and it's a nice cosy pub restaurant.
J. B.
This is a fab place to grab a meal. The food is always hot and delicious. The pub itself is quaint and cosy which just adds to the experience! The food is always reasonably priced. They also have a great mixture of different specials of the day which adds to their already jam packed menu! I got the banana split (pictured below) for dessert and it was amazing, hands down the best banana split I've ever had! I wish I could have one right now!
S. G.
First time visitor to the Red Lion and wasnt disappointed. Great service and delicious food. Highly recommend the Steak & Haggis Pie 😋😀
F. P.
The best sizzling steak ever, amazing! Book a table in the small restaurant room to the left of the front entrance for historical ambience.

Friendly staff in this very busy pub restarunt serving huge portions.
It's very busy so best to book in advance as you might not be able to get a table of you walk in.
I had the Haggis creggans (which taste like stake and kidney pudding, if you never had hagis) and cheese burger with chips, calslaw and side salad.
All huge portion and all very nice and filling.
Even after 5 hours, I'm still stuff.
C. M.
Great pub, very busy but they managed to seat and feed us very quickly indeed. Good quality good and good portions too. Shame it's a bit far otherwise we'd be there far more often!
C. M.
Only popped in for a drink, very disappointed to see the draft cider was Magners so had a lager instead. The staff are very friendly giving the place a relaxed and inviting vibe. I've eaten hear before and the food was excellent.
P. C.
Deliciously tasty food, great service and amazing decor in a lovely and super quaint local pub. After eating there I can see why Culross locals love this place. Order the fish and chips and don't leave without trying one of their desserts (their cheesecakes are scrumptious). You'll thank me later.
V. F.
Great place to eat food is very nice staff are friendly and attentive.
Great portion sizes also.
o. a.
Food was great every last bit was eaten. highly recommend the Peppered steak pie! Really enjoyed the outdoor seating area aswell.
Only small problem was the service time as you have to go upto the busy bar to get a food order in but is well worth the wait!
Will definitely be back!
C. H.

Loved this quirky pub in a very attractive village. Parking was difficult but what do you expect? There weren't any cars or buses when it was built.
Loved reading the legends on the ceilings.
B. M. E.
Loved this pub the only one in historic Culross. Excellent menu well prepared and great value for money. Staff extremely helpful and attentive. I'll be back.
D. S.
Stopped here with a tour bus to get lunch. It was a short walk from the packing area in town along the river path. I would highly recommend a reservation beforehand. We had the fish and chips (recommend the small for lunch) and the heardsmans lunch. Soup was spicy parsnip.
c. s.

Nice wee pub in the lovely village of Culross, staff very welcoming, service quick and efficient, food came quickly and was all good, though my wife was a bit disappointed with the Ploughmans lunch and have too say it did look very exciting lacking the all important pickle.

The atmosphere alone was worth it with the waitresses dancing attention on everyone accompanied by a warm smile, what more could anyone want !
The girls never stopped, and disinfected everything after every guest. I swear to god if you had put your hands on your head you would have been wiped down as well !!

We've tried and failed to get in before, so we were in early todY and weren't disappointed. Great food and friendly staff 👌👌👌
I. G.
Decent staff, decent food today served under a sort of vinyl marquee thing lest rain spoilt our parade.
As aye, food was fine if not perhaps quite as good as on previous times here but that's only a subjective observation, not a complaint. Courteous and efficient table-service staff and overall The Red Lion is recommended.
C. T.
Nice food, not more than average though. Service a bit slow, but very pleasant staff. Price reasonable.
M. H.
Absolutely love it food is great staff are very friendly I definitely would recommend this lovely pub restaurant my family come from England every year and just love going

A. H.
Great food and lovely atmosphere
M. C. V.
I was so awestruck by their delicious steak pie that I went there two nights in a row to have it one last time before I left Culross!! All the staff was super caring and loving, so much so that they would deserve even a 6th star! If you are traveling by yourself (like I am) you can just enjoy a good book with your meal or, even better, have a good chat with the most welcoming locals!
S. S. (. S.
Have been here many times... always a delicious meal, huge portions, and relaxed atmosphere. It's our family's go to place for birthdays and where we take out of town visitors. Would recommend making a reservation as it's often quite busy.
D. M.
Lovely community pub and a really nice meal. I had the haddock and chips and the fish was really well cooked which, in the case of pub food, is not, in my experience, by any means guaranteed. Well worth a visit.
S. W.
Had seen many images of the town Culross on Instagram, we decided to visit late afternoon on Friday 24th Sept. We had a walk around the town and decided to visit the local Pub.
We walked through the front door and were welcomed straight away, asked if we had a booking to which we replied no. They looked at gear Diary and said they could give us a table for an Hour, which suited us fine.
We were taken in and given a table for 2.
Service was quick and the Food was absolutely lovely. Fresh hot and well presented. Staff were lovely and put no pressure on us.
Stunning little Pub, lovely staff, would highly recommend, and well definitely be back. Thanks very much folks.
M. E.
The Red Lion is an excellent place to visit for the location alone but tied in with the fact that it also does very tasty and satisfying food, it's doubly worth the visit.
The staff are friendly and helpful and the adherence to current COVID guidelines is carried out effectively.
We were a table of 4 and had Chicken pie, steak pie, fish and sirloin steak. All the food was tasty, well presented and a good portion.
There's not a massive menu but what there is would cover any diet I could imagine. The same could be said of the drinks menu but again every palate should find something to their taste.
Prices are reasonable for the quality of the service and food.
The car park is limited on space due to the expansion of the outdoor seating to cater for social distance but there's plenty of parking nearby that allows the chance to see a bit more of the historic town.
s. w.
My wife and i went for a meal last night for our anniversary we both had the sirloin steak and its without doubt one of the best steaks ive ever eaten it was delicious my wife also agrees and we will certainly be back, also the young lady who waited on us was very pleasant and nothing was a bother for her as were all the staff.

A. A.
Lovely lunch time meal. Food and service was excellent as usual. The red lion never disappoints. 😊
S. R.
Great pub, friendly staff and lovely food. Always a good range of choice on the menu and always a specials board. I would recommend booking as it gets busy and full pretty quick. If timing and weather suits, always nice to go for a walk through or around the village after eating. The set menu including the steak is a personal fav including the special apron to protect from the sizzle from the cast iron. I’ve been many times over the years, and every time come away happy and full.
K. R.
Great food. I'll be back!

I had one of the best vegetarian dishes I have ever tasted, hubby loved his fish and the boy enjoyed his burger. Service was warm, friendly and welcoming. The girls all done amazing keeping with the new regulations.
G. S.
Basic pub grub could do with a better quality of chips

K. M.
Great service great food lovely environment stunning views and very reasonably priced. Highly recommend whether you are a local especially recommend for tourist's. It's a hidden gem 💎
A. M.
What a place Service excellent and first-class staff.
Very attentive and could not fault the food apart from too generous portions. Were not Americans🤣😂🤣🐶Dog Friendly too.
But sit in the beer garden that's ok such as a bellter swellter day in July.
We don't get much sun at the best of time.🥴
M. G.
Went for a family meal. The staff were very friendly ,chatty and attentive. Great menu and the food was fantastic. Great atmospheric, quirkily decorated, homely Inn & pub. They have an outside eating area too. Will definitely be back. Thank you The Red Lion 🦁 Culross x
D. M.
Friendly, comfy atmosphere. Staff were excellent. Group of 8 people never left wanting or needing for drinks etc. All food was delicious and cooked to perfection. Service was fast and prompt. Highly recommended. Will be back and will recommend to friends and family at any opportunity.

Great meal with my mum and dad and my wife
S. M.
Three of us had a delicious and decadent lunch of smoked haddock and chips for two of us, and roast lamb and mash for the other. We had an excellent attentive waitress in a lovely pub with good beer. Looking forward to visiting again. Thank you!
J. H.
Absolutely lovely food.
Favourite food on menu is the peppered steak pie. Truly delicious.
Nice warm cosy atmosphere,, good amount of seating although close to the table next to you.
Small car park which is easily missed behind the pub. Very tight entrance to get in.
Outdoor benching and nice service
E. W.
Nice pub atmosohere. Staff were very friendly. We were served really quickly. We did the steak deal with starter, main and dessert. Food was excellent and portions are massive. You won't go hungry with just a main. Good value for money. The steak being served on a skillet is cute, i like it but it does mean your steak is well cooked by the time you get to the end
d. c.
Different cook was not the same dinner was burnt and not great x use to go alot think new place in order
L. H.
This place is so lovely. Book early as it gets busy fast. The smoke sausage curry is really a favourite of ours. The atmosphere is really fantastic and easy parking too. The great Thomas Cochrane has a statue here, if you visit the red lion, check it out. 10/10 :)
S. S.
Beautiful olde pub, delicious food, huuuuuuge portions. Would highly recommend.
D. C.
Decent pub grub at a decent price. Good beers to go with it. Staff very helpful and cheerful. Quite a scenic location, worth the effort. Tip, take the longer route by the waterside if using sat nav. Easier driving, short route takes you down steep narrow streets with tight corners.
J. P.
Great little inn in a quaint little seaside town, the service was excellent, the Ale was crisp and delightful, and the food. The lamb rump with red wine sauce, mash and vegetables were the best of it's kind I've ever had. 5 stars easy
R. W.
Lovely quaint old fashioned pub. Has a interesting interior, very friendly atmosphere. The staff are very efficient, the food is out of this world! I would go back again
D. D.
A wonderful pub restaurant in the heart of Culross, fabulous food and very helpful staff, easily and happily accommodated our family of four (a toddler and a baby), very reasonably priced and highly recommended.
Visited again today, same high standards and fantastic meals. 3 adults and 2 children cleared all plates.
A. E.
Delicious, well presented, reasonably priced food. The staff are so pleasant, helpful and friendly. All covid rules followed, a pleasure to have a nice family birthday celebration early evening there.
B. D. C.
Good food and the staff are friendly and accommodating

Z. H.
Takes a lot for me to invest time in leaving a review but this place thoroughly deserves it. Outstanding. Quality of food amazing, menu variety is great and such a cosy little place. Best food we have had in a long long time.
T. F.
Well organised fast service.
Social distancing for table allocation maintained and cleaning practices well organised, you could hear staff continually checking with each other that tables had been sanitised between allocations.
Staff very welcoming and food was delicious will definately be back.
C. M.
Amazing food would highly recommend
J. J.
Wonderful food, drinks and atmosphere. Try the haggis burrito- really tasty!
n. b.
Great little pub,we did not eat but food looked great staff very friendly
C. A.
Fast service and good food! Used outside seating area as with a friend and her dog. Arrive early as we did or phone to book as it's very popular! 😊
A. P.
Friendly pub with great food and service. It also has a covered outdoor seating area.
A.
Food is brilliant, great wee place and always great prices too. Staff are super friendly

D. M.
Food is fantastic, massive portions you won't go hungry. Staff are lovely. Decor is beautiful real homely feel nice and clean. Just a Fab place.
G. S.
Good and staff were excellent.value for money
P. E.
Great food at great prices. Been a regular customer for some time now and it is always a pleasure to go there. It is better to book in advance because they are always busy. The service is fast and the staff is nice and helpful. There is private free parking, and there is a balcony where you can enjoy drinks and smoke.
E. M.
Went here for lunch with my family. Really good food and staff were very helpful and welcoming.
B. M. (.
I stopped in here for a snack after a long wander about this amazing village. It's an incredibly friendly place and the food was good. There was a lot of hand-painted mural art on the ceiling, which was great. Before I left, I went to the Ladies, and as I closed the cubicle door, this is what greeted me. How hilarious, and how original. This guy was life-sized and was wearing a made up kilt. I've never taken a photo in a ladies loo before, but when I stopped laughing, I did so. Thanks for a great meal, Red Lion and a very good laugh.
S. S.
This place must be a contender for the best place to eat in Fife/Central Scotland. The choice on the menu is wide, food is terrific and the staff genuinely friendly. The setting feels like an 18 century tavern in the great wee town of Culross. The missus and me drive from Stirling 2 or 3 times a month to eat there. Love it!
D. M.
Having been here before on several occasions for dinner I had no hesitation in stopping for lunch while out cycling. As per usual staff are friendly, very welcoming and attentive, had a chicken Cesar wrap which was very tasty and well presented, all washed down with a much needed cappuccino. As it was a beautiful day I sat outside to enjoy some much needed sun, there were a few chatty American tourists which helped spend the time while waiting on my lunch being prepared. Inside there was a decent crowd having a good bit of banter.
No doubt on my next venture along the Fife Coastal Path I'll be popping in to refuel.
T. H.
History, good food, cold beer; is there anything else?
D. M.
Brilliant meal, took my girlfriend out for 2nd anniversary, although busy still felt relaxed and not pestered every 2 minutes asking how your meal is. Very enjoyable. Would say book in advance as a few people got turned away when walking in without booking. Service adequate aswell
M. M.
The staff were so helpful. We went on a wet day and had the dogs with us. The girls came out and dried off all the chairs and tables and even got us an umbrella. The food was amazing and the coffee was great.
s. m.
Some delicious meals here. Haut fish and chips, then a walk along the Forth. Can't get better. Try the Budvar to wash it all down. All set in a quaint and pretty village.
A. P.
Boyfriend and I ate here tonight per the recommendation of a family member and it is safe to say we weren't disappointed. Instantly were welcomed by the lovely lady working and served drinks. Ordered a portion of nachos each to start which were served inside a crispy tortilla bowl and were possibly the best nachos we've had. However I would recommend sharing or having as a main as it is a VERY large portion (we weren't complaining!). My boyfriend then went on to have a very large fish and chips, which he said was delicious and I had the 'Truckers Supper' which consisted of some yummy sausages, fried eggs, a mound of chips and beans and again was delicious. Quick and friendly service, very decently priced, fantastic food and a lovely cosy atmosphere. Would recommend visiting the area too! Lovely.
R. C.
Really disappointed with our visit tonight.
Service was slow even though there appeared to be plenty staff about and the food was average to be honest.
We've been a few times and it's usually a great place and money well spent. Hopefully this was a one off and not a sign of "high turnover, lower quality" which seems to be the norm at the moment.
😒
J. K.
In for a cup of tea and a tasty sticky toffee pudding. Will be back to try dinner.
J. A.
Our lunch was great! My friend had the fish and I had the Herdsmans' lunch. The only complaint I had was the portion was too much for me. It would be great if they could offer half portions.
L. W.
Had a lovely Gluten Free Menu as well as table Menu. Food was delicious, good presentation & varied choices. We all had a lovely evening & staff were very attentive. Good atmosphere & conversation with others was enjoyable. Will be back!
M. M.
Food was fantastic as always .
M. S.
Great food and fantastic service in historic building. Recommended.
M. N.
We visit the Red Lion frequently for early evening bar meals. Good sized portions and reasonably priced.
Very small bar area so mainly a place to eat rather than drink. Usually one real ale on tap.
F.
Food was good, staff were great. Nice place, clean and comfortable. Will return.
D. C.
Looks like any other Red Lion pub at first, but the menu is definitely a clear step up from regular pub fare. Robust gluten free menu, fresh ingredients, delicious local meats. Very friendly service and fun decor. The vaked goat cheese with chili jam and oatcakes was fantastic. Gluten free dime cake. Yum!
S. H.
Fabulous 👌 great food and very attentive staff. Can't wait to go back
J. H.
Great food, great beer, great staff, pity they can't spell whisky.
W. A.
Lovely staff, their feta/olives salad is the best I have tasted this year. The bar is so dog friendly
M. “. d. T.
Warm, friendly, very welcoming experience. Excellent food, served in a delightful atmosphere. Some history to go with your meal and drinks. A firm favourite of ours when we have visitors to Fife. A visit to the Red Lion is a must.
D. R.
Cosy and welcoming. Food great at reasonable prices and the staff were brilliant considering the restrictions at the time. Will go back just to look around more of the nooks and crannies for the decor.
D. Y.
Delicious food, reasonable priced drinks and a lovely atmosphere.
You may need to book, as it's a busy little place.
The Red Lion will always have a special place in my heart as that's where my husband proposed... Next to their beautiful coal fire.
Try their steak! It's the best I've tasted. It comes still sizzling on the metal griddle.
L. G.
Lovely little local pub. Meals looked massive and smelled amazing, definitely going back for lunch
B. L.
Lovely place, very traditional. Hadn't booked a table but staff were friendly and got us seated straight away. Food was very good and service was excellent. Will definitely return
S.
Nice wee inn. We just happened to pop in to get out the rain and the staff were really friendly, didn't pressure us to buy more than the couple of drinks we ordered. The art was lovely too.
c. s.
The steak here is phenomenal always comes to order still sizzling and 3 courses for £30 ... amazing
W. G.
Excellent quality home cooking!
A. D.

S. b. t.
Food was good with some interesting choices and combinations. I was in a large party spread over two rables but service was efficient.
H. D.
We found the staff in the Red Lion very friendly and helpful. The food we ordered was very generous portions and the prices very reasonable. Definitely heading back there the next time we visit Culross a very interesting, historic and beautiful little place.
w. c.
Lovely place and friendly staff....would definately phone for a reservation though as it's very popular. We were lucky to walk in off the street but we only had about 1and a quarter hours as the table had been booked by someone, which was fine...it was enough time. Will definately be back..food was lovely and well presented and price was average.
C. G.
Great food and lovely atmosphere! The stilton, mushroom and leek pie was to die for!
d. h.
Hospitable / friendly; great choice of meals and apart from the chips (not hot) the vegetables were cooked perfectly (and a great mix of veg). Beer good, coffee too
e. c.
Lovely meal. Nice surroundings. Great staff who were polite and served the meal and made sure during that we were satisfied with food. We will be back.
B. H.
A nice wee inn with a very unique interior. The food is always tasty, it has been busy every time I have been so we always book in advance.
The village is always very busy at weekends and in the summer but they have a private car park for customers.
M. M.
Great atmosphere!
Excellent food and good service.
S. A.
Excellent bar lunch . Quick and friendly service, menu that is wee bit different to standard choices. Huge very tasty portions. All in all a very enjoyable experience. Highly recommended.
D. F.
Was there today at lunch time with my mate and my dog Fergus the food was absolutely fantastic and great service it's the first time I've been in the red lion but I will definitely be back
E. C.
Wonderful painted ceilings in two separate rooms. Cosy and quaint in old building. Food excelllent and served speedily. We had special requests which were met with no trouble. Staff friendly and efficient. Great place. I've been three times and delighted on each visit.
B. S.
Only had a quick drink and limited range of draught beers. Seemed popular for eating. Handy parking tucked in the rear, but not highlighted. Good location in pretty historic village.
N. P.
Fantastic pub/restaurant. Excellent food and waiting staff. Can feel a bit small and dark at times but that has never caused any visit to not be very enjoyable.
C.
The food and the service are both outstanding. Veggie and carnie options. Staff is friendly with a good sense of humour. Portions are not stingy, and the bill won't break your wallet.
G. F.
Located on Culross, a colorful town right out of the 19th century. We ate dinner there, and although the fare is about average for Scotland the atmosphere and the staff are incomparable. Park in the rear and when you're finished with dinner walk along the river or through town. You won't regret it.
N. W.
Food good with decent menu
Good location in Culross close to town center and with a car park backing onto the costal path. Stopped for lunch. All tables supplied with glasses and water. Food was good and enough of it. Service was attentive.
J. B.

Swiss tourists, landed at EDI at 12:30 and by 13:30 were seated in the fireplace room of the Red Lion in Culross. What a splendid introduction to tasty Scottish cuisine and warm hospitality! (Of course we had researched it and reserved; worth all the preparation). A highlight of our 3-day trip to central Scotland.
J. L.

Beautiful meal only thing we could complain about was where we sat having our meal...it was in the bar area quite small space sqeezed in between other people having their meal it was very loud no privacy at all..
As we heard a lot of great reviews on The Red Lion we thought we'd try it out it was our Wedding Anniversary and were looking forward to our meal which was superb but totally disappointed in the seating arrangements..
