First time at a Slug & Lettuce and what an amazing visit. Mark and Jess were just fabulous, we didn't want to leave. The food was wonderful and the cocktails were the best I have ever had. Can't wait to go back. Thank you so much, we will be recommending to everyone. :)

Visited for lunch on a weekdays. The pub was quiet with plenty of space. The food was good and reasonably priced. There was obviously a good selection of draft larger. I will definitely visit again.

Had Bottomless Brunch on Friday and paid for the upgraded menu, the waitress serving us was absolutely fantastic. Extremely attentive, literally never had an empty glass. The food was really good, we had a beef burger and chicken burger, both well cooked and tasty. Two of our originally booked party couldn't make it but they still took their deposit off the bill for the two of us. Great service, would definitely book again.

Lovely place and a great venue, love the music and atmosphere. However was disappointed the booth we had booked for our wedding guests had been given to another party. We were given another booth but not the flowery one which I had asked for and had my heart set on. We were given a tree of cocktails which was a nice touch, but still felt let down for our special day

Wow! We booked a cocktail making class for a hen do yesterday and it was BRILLIANT! Tyrone was absolutely fantastic, made us laugh from start to finish, gave us lots of facts about the cocktails we were making which was really interesting and made us feel so welcome. The cocktails were delish! He'd set the bar up lovely with all of the garnishes and glasses were at the ready for some fizz. I've been to these classes before at other bars and this was by far the best one. We had so much fun, he absolutely made the hen do for us! We even booked a table to come back later in the evening because we'd been so impressed with how our afternoon went! We were greeted by amazing decorations, it truly was beautiful place to walk into. The food and drinks were very speedily prepared and delivered to us, and the waitress was very interactive with us, however, the service was nonexistent for the first 20 minutes. Admittedly there was a very large party that they were presumably occupied by, but it was still disappointing to not be greeted upon entry, having to sit ourselves down and wait 20 minutes to be noticed.

Great service and timely attendance, Holly was brilliant, excellent server, she didn't hover too much she checked in at the right times. We came for the bottomless brunch and never had to wait too long after our drink was empty and another was on its way. Would highly recommend, if you do go and Holly is working ask for her, brilliant service.

Was there yesterday (bank holiday Sunday) the staff do an awesome job, pleasant and helpful especially the table servers. Very fast service, they all work flat out. The staff collecting glasses never stop. A big thank you to Jordon who was at our table immediately after I accidentally spilt my drink. This was at the end of the night and after a long shift nothing was a bother for him. Extremely polite, what a lovely guy. Thanks for a good day & night out in Durham guys. I would recommend the S&L Durham to anyone. 🤩😁

Really nice place to go when the weathers good. We ordered drinks on the app though and they took 25 minutes to come. Going straight to the bar was quicker. Was middle of the day too so wasn't full. Recommend it but go to bar yourself

I spent 20mins waiting at the bar for drinks, and then couldn't sit at a table as they were all reserved for diners. Spent another 20 minutes standing, and none of the 10 or so tables that were reserved ever became occupied. Needs more bar staff to speed up service at busy times. Eventually went next door to the bishop's mill and was served in around 3mins. And was able to find a table

Really like it here, looks amazing inside! Staff are very nice and polite which is the (key) to a 5 star rating. We had 2 for 1 on the cocktails which included all cocktails on the menu. I highly recommend calling here:-)

We were out with son and his girlfriend. First round was £23, but my son bought the next identical round and was charged £39. We subsequently spoke with the floor manager (I think her name was Regs) and she checked the tills and came back after a couple of minutes with the £16 difference in cash. The bar person had mistakenly charged for a full bottle of wine instead of a glass. Brilliant customer service and resolution by Regs, very polite and understanding, no issues over the incident, well done. Also we had a great time and despite it being quite busy, bar service was good.

Visited here on the 10th Feb. We walked in, all the tables were clean and the whole bar looked so beautiful. We fancied some small plates so went for the chicken gyoza's, chorizo bites, nachos, sweet potato fries & the shawarma tacos. Every item we had was sooo tasty! What stood out for us was the service! We were served by Danielle, who couldn't do enough for us. Smiley service at the till then warm check backs, running back and forward to get us extra sauces etc! We only live in Newcastle so we will definitely be making a return to this slug and lettuce asap!

Been here a few times now on a Saturday night, so much better than it used to be years ago! Beautiful, luxurious decor (feels like you’re at a wedding). Great variety of drinks and plenty places to sit including a outside area. It does get very packed on a Saturday night so you do sometimes have to wait a bit but the bar queues do go down relatively fast. Great tunes and lively atmosphere👍🏽💃🏽🍾.

Lovely place. Huge . So it felt very empty. Staff were helpful and welcoming. It's very clear where antibacterial stations are. Entry and exit points. I felt very safe, the staff have clearly taken the COVID19 healthband safety elements very seriously. However are still really lovely and welcoming despite the extra pressure.

We booked a table for food and drinks on Saturday 24th April. I have given the 5 stars based on the fact that our waitress Alexandra was the best, making sure our first post Covid Lockdown afternoon out was enjoyable. The food and drinks were served promptly and she always took the time to chat. We were impressed by her reaction when we spoke to her about a sensitive situation one of her colleagues had and were also impressed that the manager took the time to thank us. The only thing I want to mention is the issue of smoking, I understand that it is not against the law to smoke outdoors but as this is the only option available then I do feel there should be a smoking section or even asking smoker to leave their table and go to a smoking area in the same way they would have to if indoor dining/drinking was allowed. Having smokers at the next table when you are eating is not pleasant !

Fabulous from start to finish, have to mention Ruth who was so helpful she brought our cocktails to the table, which were buy one get one free and tasted marvelous. Also thanks to Alex who was a fabulous friendly and very helpful waitress helped us choose our desserts which were divine and great value at three for £7.Also have to say the interior is gorgeous and the lights are beautiful, staff went out of their way to give great service, my complements also to the chef can't wait to return. What an outstanding place to eat and drink. Great staff and attentive service complimented the colourful interior of this spacious establishment. Flower decorated 'Birdcage' booths (you'll know what I mean when you go!) give a great variety to the accommodation over two levels, and the al fresco dining option just add to the experience. Wish we lived closer because this would definitely be our go-to place.

Visited Durham to meet up with old friends from different part of UK. Found ourselves visiting Slug and Lettuce twice over couple days. Have to say service was excellent. Waitresses really friendly, smiley, attentive and professional. Good value food and drink. Would certainly consider revisiting.

Food was good, but at 8:30pm there was a load of drunks inside, social distancing was out of the window, no one queuing wore a mask and no staff wore masks or even a face shield either (I know not a legal requirement but unpleasant when people are dealing with your food). Enjoyed it but wouldn't go back
