We love this place never had a bad meal there so when we finally had a chance to go kid free we decided to go for the steak ... had great expectations but unfortunately we were disappointed. They were gristly tasteless tough and overcooked. It cost £59.10 for 2 steaks 2 cokes and a sticky toffee pudding (Scrumy). We will go back but not for the steak....

Heard a lot of great things about this place so we came and I’m so glad we did as we have now been a good few time’s and I’ve got something different nearly everytime because the menu is just amazing with so much to chose from, everything I’ve had has all been delicious with great portion sizes and also very reasonably priced. I also came here for the Sunday carvery which was also gorgeous, demolished every scrap. Lovely warm atmosphere and very clean. The staff are very welcoming and pleasant. Couldn’t recommend this place enough😍🍗🥘.

This was my first time visiting here, meal choices were somewhat limited but there seemed to be something for everyone in our group. Booking only due to covid limitations. Wait times for food wasn't bad as it wasn't too busy. Food was nice, although would say a little overpriced. Staff were friendly, helpful and attentive.

Lovely food and impeccable service. I went with a large group of friends for a celebration and everything was perfect. I ordered a chicken breast and king prawn dish with came with sweet potato fries and it was delicious. Service was prompt and servers where so friendly. It's a while since we've been to The Board Inn we have always had lovely meals today was no different my husband and myself both had a Turkey dinner which was beautiful .Service was fantastic and staff all very pleasant would highly recommend and we will definitely be back .

Been here a good few times for lunch and one Sunday dinner, food is really good and the portions are huge and well priced. Staff are friendly and the menu has a good selection. The pub also has a fantastic view.

Really enjoyed the meal, but apart from the initial drinks order, we had to ask for everything else. The staff were friendly and polite, but we had to ask them for drinks, ask for desserts, ask for the bill etc. The only time they took the initiative was to tell us it was last orders. We would still visit again as perhaps it was the first shift for some of the staff, but surely it would be beneficial for the pub to ask if we were interested in desserts when they cleared the table after our main courses.

10 of us went on a Sunday afternoon to celebrate a birthday. The staff were very pleasant and we were seated straight away.We all had different meals and everyone said there's was delicious and there was plenty of it. We didn't order a sweet as we had birthday cake to eat but seen some being brought out and they looked delicious also.We hadn't been here before it was a recommendation but sure will return.

We visit here regular and are yet to have a bad meal. Everything is always fresh, hot and plenty food per serving. Both main menu and Sunday lunch is fantastic and they have something for everyone! We couldn't recommend this place enough and have done so with all our friends. They view is also to die for!! Looking out from the window, on the top of the hill! 10/10 all round for the food and the service and atmosphere is also great and friendly. You won't be disappointed if go and give this place a try, and will most likely make it your go to place like we have.

Delicious food. Incredible vista from the picture window. We got there rather late for Sunday lunch so the restaurant was pretty empty - shame, not inn's fault of course. Went here as party of 3, got seated and orders taken in good time. Doesn't have the best beer selection but does have something for everyone. The food menu had good choice, hanging kebab was lovely, steak was also decent, not the most amazing food ever but was alright, however there was quite a wait. The only thing that would stop me going regularly is the price, everything was on the expensive side, and the food was quite up to the cost.

The pub has got beautiful modern and rustic interior. Very friendly staff and oversized portions which would rival for what you'd see on 'Man Vs Food' but at extremely low and very reasonable prices. If you're just passing or live in the local area, thoroughly recommend this place for a bite to eat.

A very large pub with beautiful views. Most of the staff are friendly and helpful. Food is of decent quality but far too much in terms of quantity. They seem to be confused by the current situation and once sat us next to a family of 4 in an otherwise empty pub ... it didn't bother us too much until we went back for a drink a week or so later and we were literally the only people in the pub with the exception of some people in the garden. When we went to pay we were told to stand 2m from the bar ... in a square. I asked why and some snotty nosed girl told us it was in case someone wanted to get past us ... I said, but it's empty in here. We then HAD to approach the damn bar to tap the card machine. Like, make your mind up please!!

Went for tea tonight for father's day. Not particularly busy when we arrived. Placed order for some.starters. After what felt like an exceptionally long time for a starter to arrive Waitress called our surname as we were seated outside. She put 2 plates of food down then walked off. Firstly she never said what the food was and secondly she did not present with any cuttlery. Before we had chance to even say that's not the food we ordered she was gone. I had to take the plates back inside myself and tell another waitress what had happened. She kindly apologised and said I will get yours out prompt. After Another wait, our starters arrived. 10/10 for starters for quality and taste. We finished our starters and I went to place an order at the bar for some more drinks. I felt I had to tell the barmaid we had finished our starters as I was not hopeful of a prompt return to check we had finished. Our mains arrived. I ordered the duck pancakes as my main with a portion of chips. On arrival the duck was stone cold and pancakes were a bit hard round the edges. I asked the waitress " is this dish normally served cold?" Her response was " not sure, I have never served it before". Not really reassuring or helpful. I asked if she could take back as am pretty sure it's meant to be hot. With no hesitation she kindly took the dish away and returned with a warmer duck. I had ordered a portion if chips whuch never arrived. Fotunately there were some spare chips from the kids plates so i asked the waitress to remove the ordered portion of our bill as we never got them. On completion of our meal we went to order the kids ice cream as was part of children's meal. A young man came out to the table approximately 5 minutes after ordering only to tell us that ice cream is not available as the freezers were too high and the ice cream was mush. There seemed to be alot of children in so if this was the case why weren't we informed when we ordered meals? When asked what's the alternative the response was " nothing". X 2 very dissapointed children. Normally I don't bother with reviews but despite the food being lovely it was let down massively by the poor service we received in what seemed a reasonably quiet time of the day. I will not be rushing back in a hurry. Sorry.

Had the oven roasted cod with asparagus, new potatoes and a buerre blanc sauce. It was absolutely delish, the cod was fresh and meaty, the asparagus was perfectly cooked with a little crunch as opposed to a soggy pile. All in all I'd definitely recommend The Board Inn and we will most certainly be back very soon.

Very popular pub tasty meals good selection of drinks lovely views has to be my favourite local pub huge portions even my dad couldn't eat though if you don't have a car it's quite a walk from nearest bus stops it is pretty isolated which does add to it's charmsadly a little known Durham gem tourists tend to miss out on
