This place was my first home when i came in Edinburgh. I didn’t expect it to be what the vibe is all day long. I planned to stay there for 6 days but i loved the environment so much that i extended it to 12 days. Honestly I used to wake up in the morning, explored the city center and after a tiring day, i was served best beers with best snacks. The best exposure that i have gotten for any city is for Edinburgh and the credit goes to Bar 50. It’s a full fledged students bar with affordable drinks and cocktails and snacks too. The taste is authentic and they will provide sauces as per your wish, any sauce or sides you want is there for you. The staff is so humble and well behaved, that they have been really helpful to me in so so so many ways. I would give 30% credit to their helping hands for an amazing time i had there. Highly appreciated. I would recommend this place to every student out there in Edinburgh to come party and have a great great time with your friends. Whether it’s your birthday, weekends, freshers, fair-well or bachelorette just come and party hard at bar50. Cheers

Great bar with delicious burgers. Very friendly staff and perfect service. Great deals on Groupon for Bar 50 but really good value for money all the time. Forget the Royal mile get down to Cowgate!

Can honestly put every star of our 5 star review down to Noel! He was absolutely spot on the whole night being an absolute legend. We were only planning on staying for one drink but loved his service so much that we stayed the whole night. We Would definitely come back again, only if served by Noel. Deserves a pay rise or managerial role.

My group booked the meal for 3 off Groupon. We got loads of food which was awesome… except the food wasn’t very good. The burgers were super dry. The small plates were luke warm at best. The inside of the bar and the beer garden were really nice though. I would definitely come back for drinks.

Great place, the drinks menu was super varied and all of the cocktails I tried were amazing. They also offer good bar food so you can stay for hours just chatting and having fun They have a section with really comfy couches and an outdoor terrace so you can go no matter the weather. The staff were friendly and quick with all the orders ( even after we ordered A TON of food and drinks) I highly recommend this place to hang out with a group

We spent a few hours here for our wedding anniversary and they were fantastic! Booking a table for a few hours was easy through the app, and the staff were lovely, food was excellent and we had a good range of drinks. We sat outdoors in 25°C temperatures (luckily just out of the sun, or I would have melted) enjoying the fresh air and a drink without masks. All in all, a brilliant bar. Definitely book a few hours there!

Food is cheap and decent. It is a student bar so the drinks are cheap. Very good for large groups as its quite big. They have free WiFi so ask at the bar. Recommended for after uni drinks and cheap food. Staff are really nice

Had booked a table as we wanted to watch the euros. Staff from start to finish were so accommodating and drink service was swift considering they were busy. We had sat at a table a little away from the screen where the football was showing and the manager(I believe Alex was her name) soon sorted us out no drama onto a different closer table. We then were asked at the end of the match if we would like to move inside as the outside was closing, again great customer service. We were all very well accommodated and I’d recommend Bar Fifty to all. Thanks To the management and the bar team for being so lovely

Visited this place for dinner, I enjoyed the burger and the chilli nachos. Nice selection of beers and atmosphere. Would recommend it and come back!

My girlfriend and I got a voucher for a burger, small plate and a drink. We had issues getting there from our travels the day we got the voucher as well as issues trying to use the link from the voucher to book. I rang up to dicuss the issue and they were very helpful in getting this sorted even though we did come the next day. When we did arrive, the journey was nice and easy. They had us booked inside but since there was a spare table outside, we were able to hop on it if we chose, which we did. We were handed menus in case we struggled with the online menu via the QR code and when we did order everything, we were also offered to either have the main and sides come out together or separately - nice touch (may have been because it was quiet that this was possible though). The food came out in takeaway packaging and went down quite nicely. The food was lovely. Then attempting to pay with the voucher we'd had issues with the day before went smooth as well. The staff have been very accommodating throughout. Would come back again :)

Went here for the fringe festival. Its a small bar and has a nice outdoors area. They had small time comedy acts but all were quite funny. We had a good night.

The place is lovely. We were sat outside due to the regulations. It was raining but they provided ponchos if we wanted them. The drinks are a little expensive but are overall really nice. The chips were good, but the chips with chilli were soggy and not very nice. The only thing i would say to never get is the crisps, they are £2.50 and only a small packet

Used to always come here on nights out and been recently with some groupon deals. Staff gave us a free found of drinks when our food took a while (it was only 15 mins) so it was really nice service

Nice place, little beer garden tucked away under gazebos/canopies. Draught beer was decent but couldn't give it 5 stars as the Steiner's came in plastic, bad for the taste and bad for the environment.

Bar 50 doesn't disappoint in terms of food and drinks however the ambience can be a bit questionable sometimes with the stag do's especially eg. the a-hole in a dress and wig that threw beer at my jacket as he aimed it towards his mate and thought it was ok to say an unapologetic sorry and be done with it!

I loved Bar50. I went there yesterday with other people of our CS Society. Student discounts are awesome (I bought a beer for 2.20£). I couldn't try food because the kitchen was too busy at that time, but others say that it's really good. I will definitely next time. They also have their own card: 20% off on everything. Sounds great. Atmosphere is fantastic and you can book tables too ( do it if you're a lot. It's better). 5 star and a happy customer, here.

Found this by chance. It's kinda like a hostel place with this bar. Very spacious and plenty of seating. Staff were nice and friendly. I had some food which did not take long to come. There was a lot of it to 🤣. Alt in all a good experience.

This is a hostel and bar in one. Don't expect the finest of luxury but pray for cheap prices, good deals and an awesome crowd. Regular meetings are held here in my social circles. The grub is good to eat and rarely has issues but don't expect restaurant quality.

I like Bar 50. I go in there often, it has reasonably priced drinks and food, free wifi and as it's a hostel bar you can end up meeting really interesting people. You can also be mobbed by loads of school kids so it can be a bit of a gamble. I like the atmosphere there and occasionally they play live music and this year they had a free comedy venue during the Fringe. It's clean, polite and good natured. Only thing it lacks is a bit of character it can sometimes look a bit sterile.

Bar 50 is a big, busy bar that is used by the lodgers using the hostel upstairs. The bar is very reasonably priced and is even cheaper if you manage to acquire one of their loyalty cards. The food is also very reasonably priced, but is of pretty average quality. The bar is a hive of young people from all over the world and is great for meeting people. Ideal for a few drinks before heading out to a club.

This is really nice place. I visit this bar when I was in Edinburg and I stayed in Smart City Hostel (this bar is part of this hostel). In bar worked nice barman and barmaid they are friendly, helpful. Prices food and dring are very good, food is lovely. If you will be in Edinburgh, you must visit this bar.

My absolute favourite bar in Edinburgh. The service is great, the prices are good (they also do student discounts and loyalty cards) and the food is yummy. Tends to be a bit empty during weekday nights so if you want a good place to chat where you know you'll get a seat, this is it. Chock-a-block on the weekends though.

Bar 50 is a large space nice and bright with comfy leather sofas, chairs and more intimate booths for dining at the menu had a veggie option for pizza burger or panini menus the food was tasty and the drinks prices were reasonable there are pool tables to pass the time while ordering and seating outside its part of the safe stay hostel chain, my review of which will be coming soon this is a cool place to being friends but it's a shame there was no gf vegan food
