Nice place to chill after an active afternoon. Inventive cocktails in a beautiful space. Quieter than some of the pubs if you want to talk. Old wooden bar takes center stage. The Dragonfly comfortable seating at the bar and lower and upper loft area. Friendly, knowledgeable staff.

Fabulous time at this bar. We had a superb barman called Sam who threw together a mix of 5 cocktails to suit our usual palate and he also introduced a couple of wee very pleasant surprises from the Specials list. The background knowledge of the staff is quite amazing and their attentiveness to customers most refreshing. Book a table, book 2 tables, bring friends and have a great time in the city.

On a 3-day trip to Edinburgh from London, we stumbled upon this cute little 1920s style bar, with exquisite cocktails and very attentive bar staff. Very Covid-conscious and eager to please. We went off-menu for the majority of both visits and were introduced to some wonderful cocktails. The staff here are fantastic, and highly attentive. I would recommend to anyone that appreciates cocktails beyond the boring passion fruit martini. A spectacular bar with staff that really know their classics and will take the time to recommend drinks that will suit your palette and tastes. Thank you so much. We’ll be sure to return on our next Edinburgh visit - it’s been the highlight of my first time in visiting the city.

My partner and I visited the Dragonfly last night, and we had an excellent time! I started off by having Xanté’s inferno, a VERY spicy drink that left my lips on fire for quite some time after, but the taste was like nothing I’ve had before cocktail wise and was worth every second of mild discomfort! The drinks were all unique and made so perfectly but also in record time! Hardly had to wait for another drink and the staff were really fun to chat to, friendly and informative! Would definitely recommend to anyone visiting Edinburgh who likes a good cocktail 🍹 👍🏼

A great selection of excellent cocktails that are well thought out and delicious as well as being sustainably sourced (having grown/sourced a decent number of their own ingredients) and slightly cheaper than other cocktail bars in the area. Best seat in the house is at the bar; the staff are happy to answer questions about their drinks selection and gave great suggestions (makes the 10% service charge acceptable) Personal favourite cocktail: Heaven is a Half Pint Others we tried: Xante's Inferno Limon Cheesecake Peach Please V.S. Stumbled into this cocktail bar on a whim as we wanted something a bit closer to our accommodation. We were always looked after attentively and although we were the last ones in we didn't feel like we were rushed out. The drink list isn't massive, but what they do they do extremely well. I could knock back the peach old fashioneds all night if given the chance again. The layout and look of the venue was exactly what I like in a cocktail bar.

Delicious and interesting cocktails, a cozy and elegant atmosphere, and amazing service. I would recommend this bar to anyone around the grass market looking for a fabulous cocktail. The Raspberry Nipple is everything, trust me. It was practically dessert in an alcoholic beverage. The bartender was also great with drink recommendations and was quite happy to make specialty drinks based on what you like. I will definitely be back to this establishment.

Cool little bar, possibly a little too brightly lit for a place aiming for this market, although it IS in the student area of Edinburgh, so probably struggling with a mix of mature clientele for the cocktails & young students looking for cheap beer & shots, who probably would be put off by a more atmospheric looking bar. The two cocktails we had were ok..... I seem to be cursed with ordering 'girlie' looking cocktails this evening as mine came decorated with a small pansy with violet coloured hearts in the foam which was kind of a cool effect, but taste wise not so good, my wife ordered a very different one and they both tasted very similar. Nice friendly lady bar tender/server and the bearded bar tender/server looked the part. Ok for a quick stop in on the way somewhere else.

We visited this place last night. The decor was truly beautiful and chic. We tried 5 different cocktails and all of them were great. They are not your typical cocktails as the creativity is certainly a level up than the standard and some alcohol products they use we hadn't even heard of before which was a nice surprise. I have to say though that the best thing about the place was the service! Polite and attentive from the start till the end of our visit (even though I got the booking date wrong 🙈). Just A+++

The hotspot of good vibes in Edinburgh is specifically at this cocktail bar. My partner and I were on a trip from Manchester and headed out for some drinks on a Sunday evening and stumbled across this gem and oh boy, were we glad fate brought us this way. The staff are super attentive, friendly and full of personality, there are a great range of different cocktails and the decor surrounding you is just *chef's kiss*. I wish there were more places like this in Manchester, it's the perfect mixture of a good time, great cocktails, memorable customer service and eccentricity without making you feel alienated.

If you want great cocktails in a friendly chilled atmosphere, then you can't go wrong with dragonfly. The house cocktails are uniformly great. They're inventive and varied. You won't be getting an overly sweet concoction designed to get you drunk, you get a well thought out cocktail with a great depth of flavour and complexity. All this and you can get any classic cocktail you can think of, made with the same level of care and attention. The staff are friendly and attentive without being pushy. There are a range of seating options from small tables for one or two to a large backroom with plenty of space.

The staff and the decor would make you think you've just found one of the best cocktail bars in town, and that atmosphere feels like what you're paying for. The drinks themselves were rather lackluster - four of us tried two rounds of cocktails (so eight different drinks in total) and we all eventually settled on only liking one of those and ordering a final round solely of them. Disappointing for such a promising place.

I have always been intrigued by this venue and finally had to pleasure of visiting last night. The staff were perfectly attentive and caring, yet professional. They found the perfect balance between managing coronavirus restrictions and creating a suitable and relaxing atmosphere. Every surface was spotless, and the bathroom in particular was exceptionally clean and modern. The drinks themselves were outstanding, remarkably unique and beautifully presented. I have already recommended this venue to many of my friends, and I hope to return very soon.

This was once my favourite bar in Edinburgh, but now it seems to have taken a few turns for the worse. They change the menu every so often, which is great; I encourage this wholeheartedly and think it's a fantastic idea. However, the drinks on the current menu leave so much to be desired. My small party sampled around three quarters of the cocktail menu, and I can honestly say that some of the drinks were very unpleasant. This is a crying shame as I know what the showrunners and staff are capable of here. A very sarcastic bartender/waiter made the experience a little awkward, and we were left wondering what we did to annoy him. Aside from these complaints, the biggest grievance I have with the place is the clientele. Very loud and boisterous guests almost ruined it for me, so if I'm going to go back in the future, I'll make sure it isn't during a busy period, and I sincerely hope they come up with some tastier drinks.

Just popped in here after visiting the cat cafe while we decided what to do next and I'm very glad we did. Came here during the Fringe festival for evening cocktails. I was surprised to find a bar so close to Grassmarket which was quiet and chilled inside. I've never seen bar staff work as fast, or as hard as I have in here. It's not the biggest place, but fills up pretty quick when busy. Not only that, but everyone is drinking cocktails - which means the staff have to work twice as hard, mixing, spinning, twisting and shaving all sorts of ingredients together to make some of the coolest looking(and tasting) cocktails I've ever had. Really nice during the day or after work for a quick drink or two - or as a stopover when heading into town for the evening.

I hired the back room for a private birthday party and cannot recommend the venue enough. We had access to a private bar and bartenders and they were incredibly friendly and helpful. Everyone had a fantastic time and the space itself was perfect for 30-40 people with plenty of space to sit or stand. The cocktails were of course a hit, but that's expected at Dragonfly. Thank you so much for helping to make it such a wonderful evneing.

Don't judge a book by it's cover, as they say - I passed this place by for ages until a wiser pal brought me in. It looks a bit unassuming from the outside but the inside is cavernous, incredibly interesting, and offers plenty of very cool places to enjoy a chat. The guys at Dragonfly hit all the right notes, and I cannot recommend this place highly enough. A warm atmosphere with eclectic but inviting decor, the drinks are incentive, artfully crafted and tasty and the clientele are reasonable and mostly locals. But the real stars here are the staff. On the night we went (a Thursday) the place was busy but the three bartenders gave each customer loads of attention, whole ensuring that the line flowed smoothly. Watching them work on sometimes very complex cocktails was how I imagined it would be to watch Leonardo da Vinci painting his masterpieces. Their attention to detail, intensity and knowledge pays off in the form of delicious cocktails. I had one from the menu (whiskey with lemon and rhubarb bitters). When I afterwards asked if the bartender could make me a scotch cocktail, he didn't hesitate to suggest a few different options, describing each with their pros, cons and why I might or might not like them. When we settled on a Whiskey Sour made with Scotch and a chili paste they make in house, he was clear that if I didn't like it, they'd make me a new one on the house. Needless to say, it was delicious and I didn't take him up on the offer. My partner had a Raspberry Ripple, which was equally well made and tasty. Prices are what you'd expect, and while higher than a basic cocktail at a regular bar, you get what you pay for, and we felt that it was money well spent. I highly recommend this cocktail bar and only regret that I won't be in Edinburgh longer to visit again!

I went back in November. My fiance and I were visiting family, and it was my first time in the UK (and out of the US). I went late at night when we had just gotten off the train and into our hotel. It was amazing seeing the city as quiet and still as it was. I actually went into the Dragonfly just on a whim. It was just me, 2 bartenders, and a bartender off duty and his girlfriend both eating McDonalds. It may sound boring and uninteresting to you, but I sat in that bar for hours just talking to them, and it was an amazing experience. Nicest folks you'll ever meet. I wish I could remember their names. We're going back this November. Hope to see them again.

There aren't many cocktail bars in the Grassmarket, so this is a refreshing change from the surrounding pubs. They make fun cocktails, and the bar has a chilled vibe to it. Not particularly cheap, but a more calm atmosphere than bustling George Street cocktail bars.

Dragonfly was a feature of the Edinburgh cocktail bar scene long before other drinking establishments across the city started offering liquor served in Martini glasses. Its menu is innovative and has a good range of both short and long drinks. The staff are also happy to make you any of the good old fashioned classics too, if you're in more of a Tom Collins kind of mood. The venue is small and at your typically busy times, it can be hard to get a seat, but if you’re happy to stand the cocktails are worth it.

The best result of a delayed flight, possibly ever. 3 of us ploughed through the entire cocktail menu, delightfully accompanied by 2 cracking cheeseboards. This place knows how to do cocktails! But bear in mind that because of this knowledge, the price shoots right up. I base ever bar by how they can do a mojito and they've yet to let me down. Don't be put off by the staff though - they can be a little 'meh I don't care that you're standing there' or 'I see you there but I'm talking' but they'll get to you eventually.

If you're after quality cocktails, a relaxed atmosphere and a great night, then Dragonfly is definitely the place to go. The cocktails combine lots of interesting flavours and most of the drinks on the menu have been dreamed up by the Dragonfly staff, so you're sure to get something a little bit unique. If you've got a sweet tooth the Raspberry Ripple is a must, it's basically an alcoholic milkshake complete with hundreds and thousands! The seating can be a bit limited, so I like to come to the Dragonfly for early evening pre-dinner cocktails when it's a bit quieter. Grab a sofa up on the mezzanine level and enjoy the view of the sparkly chandeliers as your cocktail is mixed at the bar down below. Perfection!

Cocktails, oh so lovely cocktails! The mixologists at Dragonfly know how to shake up a very fine tipple. For a Movember event I was at, they created a Pistachio Espresso cocktail, which might possibly be my new favourite way to drink coffee! Cocktails aside, the decor here is a blend of street art and British Empire decadence – another surprising concoction but again one that works. And with an eclectic soundtrack and a relaxed vibe, it's a great place to hang out and get tipsy in. They also have free wifi for those of us who feel compelled to share photos of our drinks – bonus!
