Reviews of Panda & Sons
B. S.
This is a great cocktail bar, and ticks all the boxes. The drinks taste unbelievable and don’t leave a nasty taste in your throat. All the staff are friendly and happy to help you, and guide you through the menu, or find what you will like. The atmosphere was great, and I got to sit at the bar and watch the staff make the amazing drinks. The panda theme throughout the bar is great. I would recommend this place to anyone visiting Edinburgh, and will return to see what cocktails they have in the future. I am also a lover of whisky cocktails due to this place.
K. W.
A brilliant start to a perfect evening, celebrating our engagement, staff were attentive and service totally flawless. Cocktails delicious and creative as always, been several times in the past and I will continue to be a loyal and satisfied customer, and the extra touch of two celebratory shots on the house was certainly a special touch. Thank you again for a wonderful time

An absolutely outstanding gem. The theme and ambiance of the bar was unique and fun. The menu with the indepth panda family stories kept us so engrossed we had to spend more time than normal choosing our first drinks. Staff were excellent on table service with showstopping cocktails to match. The taste of each unique drink was exciting and delicious.
R. L.
Fantastic place for cocktails and a nice relaxing atmosphere. A really interesting take on some of the classic cocktails and the best old fashioned I've ever had. I'd definitely recommend it for anyone looking to have a good chat with a good atmosphere, good music and friendly staff.
C. G.
This is a high end prohibition experience, we loved all the little touches. They even fit us in without a reservation! We also loved our drinks! So delicious and unique! Ollie was a great server and gave great recommendations. A must do for a night out with a date or friends.
S. P.
Absolutely top drawer bar. One of the hidden gems of Edinburgh. A truly unique experience, and extremely well presented, with attentive staff, impeccable surroundings. It's like being taken back in time. One suggestion is make sure you book as it does get busy, but honestly it's worth searching out. Enjoy!
P. K.
Great experience. Expensive prices, but top gimmick and GREAT cocktails. people always call this a "hidden gem" - its not. Its on every must do list in Edinburgh and for good reason too! Get a booking and get some drinks!
A. J.
Walked straight past thinking it was a barbers (duh) and got a laugh from the lovely host from Leeds. The guys behind the bar and serving were fantastic, really knew the menu and when we weren't sure what to order they picked based on what flavours we felt like. Big thumbs up from us. Picture: award winning cocktail by Sean 😂

I was in the hunt for a good speakeasy after my time in NYC. Panda & Sons can definitely compete with the best out there in NYC.
I didn’t have a reservation but luckily found a spot!
I had their smoky old fashioned type cocktail (I forget the name). It was really good. Also had some of the roasted almonds.
Overall I had a good experience and would definitely recommend it as one of the good cocktail places to visit in Edinburgh.
T. L.
I love this place so much, its the best speakeasy. Excellent vibes inside and such a hidden gem. The staff were amazing and recommended delicious cocktails. We had quite a few and they were all great. I'm glad we booked a table as I'm not sure we would have gotten in otherwise.
M. C.
From the outside it's disguised as a barber shop, then through a library-door a sensory journey starts: with your eyes the quirky environment and how the cocktails are presented, with your nose the scent of their preparations and the smoke floating around, with your taste their amazing cocktails. Amazing staff too. Defenitely worth a visit!
L. S.
This is a great bar!!! Very clever concept and created a brilliant memory for us. The cocktails are next level and the atmosphere is amazing! It makes you feel like being part of an exclusive club or something! :)
A great experience, thank you!
B. L.
Ok what a fun cool experience. Who doesn’t love a martini with an eggplant and all the innuendos! They played disco music. The staff was great and I ordered a drink with vodka and gin worried I don’t drink gin and it was amazing. Worth the visit and fun time. Book a table to make sure you get in behind the fake bookcase wall!
B.
This place is a world class establishment
Service was amazing - attentive and knowledgeable waiters, everyone was friendly but not overly on your case (i.e. checking every 5 mins if you are ok) and the whole vibe and decor of the place was quirky, entertaining, fun and super cosy.
Cocktails aren’t expensive - expect between £9-£11 per cocktail. High quality ingredients, premium booze and beautiful presentation are definitely worth every penny.
Overall an amazing experience- highly recommended.
They accept cards, light bar snacks are available and please book a table - they are really busy (deservedly)
B. S.
my new favourite cocktail bar! such a wide variety to choose from and innovative menu! will definitely recommend to anyone visiting Edinburgh!
r. d.
Great cocktails and fabulous venue. Staff and music was good too..... classic 80s hit list was on!
C. S.
Really enjoyable hiur at the bar.
My wife and I tried 6 cocktails and enjoyed them all.
We were seated at the bar and were able to ask the bar staff for recommendations and ask any questions about the drinks.
The bar is meant to be a speak easy and the style comes through really well. Atmosphere is very relaxed.
We managed to get in without a booking but we did arrive before 5. Would recommend booking any time after 5.
Prices were typical Edinburgh prices and cocktails were 10 - 12 pounds. Individual shots of premium whisky 5 - 8 pounds.
Beer and standard spirits also available but you won't be going to Panda for standard drinks, that would spoil the experience.
G. F.
We watched a video recommendation on youtube talking about this place, despite being the new year we found a table available. Was incredible! 🎆Magic! Our waitress an outgoing person made our stay Magnifique
A. W.
A must visit in Edinburgh! We were able to get a walk in table on a Saturday night by chance as the place was packed. We were seated next to quite a loud group(not an issue at all as they looked like they were having a great time) however my other half struggles with her hearing so we asked to move. They cleared a spot at the bar for us and it was spot on. The staff were really welcoming and had good banter too. Service was great as we were never left with an empty glass, this seemed the same for everyone not just because we were sat at the bar. The cocktails were lovely and there were some really strange & interesting combos, I'd reccommend the birdcage for rum lovers. They had a DJ on which gave the atmosphere a nice 'Saturday Night' vibe without ruining the relaxed atmosphere you'd expect from a cool cocktail bar. We'll probably go back tonight and sample a few more!
F. A.
Amazing bar! Made a great impression from the entrance, as the door looks like a bookshelf! Lovely place for a date – so cosy and really interesting drinks. I didn’t get the waitress’ name but she was super accommodating and even gave me a portable charger to borrow because my phone was about to die! She was able to recommend drinks as well. The drinks were very tasty as well.
C. J.
Great hidden gem! Don't want to many others to know about it!! Excellent cocktails and good whiskey menu! Another good feature is the very reasonable pricing, especially compared to Londons crazy pricing!
M. D. (.
This is a really cool venue with a great vibe. Recommend booking in a advance to not miss out. The drinks were delicious and the service was excellent. Joseph was an entertaining and knowledgeable host and really made our evening.
L. P.
Wow where do I start? Nicky and the AMAZING team at Panda and sons looked after us so wonderfully during our trip to Edinburgh for Hogmanay. We spent both of our nights in here, including New Years Eve. The hospitality, the bar, the DJ’s and of course the amazing cocktails made our trip. We were originally booked to do the Hogmanay celebrations outdoor but have to say looking back, there is nowhere else we would have rather spent it!
We have been lucky enough to travel extensively and visit bars across the world and Panda and Sons, in particular the staff and the management is the best place we’ve ever been to; hands down! Never change, and thank you again 🖤
L. H.
What an amazing bar! Make sure you book a table, otherwise you might not get one. They offer a huge variety of drinks and they are so tasty.
D. M.
Delicious cocktails in a cool and unique environment, fast service and friendly staff. Highly recommend!
H.
Very cool little bar, it's the same owners as Hoots the Redeemer not far from it and has equally as chilled a vibe, if not more. We went for our honeymoon and my husband's birthday and the staff were lovely and really accommodating. You get an hour and half per booking which is plenty and it's in a really nice, calm area of town too. Highly reccommend a visit, and definitley book in as it got busy while we were there.
R. M.
I absolutely adore this place, really amazing atmosphere and sit by the bar if you can as the staff are incredibly knowledgeable about the drinks and can recommend based on your taste. Worth going just to see the smoked cocktail reveals!
N. W.
What an amazing find!! Absolutely loved this little speak easy and the cocktails were lush. Staff were amazing and the atmosphere was lovely. It felt very covid secure as well.
J. W.
Amazing experience and even better drinks. Highly recommended
K. M.
Very cool place with excellent background music and a relaxed atmosphere. The staff were incredibly helpful and nice and able to make recommendations based on customer likes etc. The drinks are expensive though which I'd say is the only downside as the drinks were great and the snacks/nibbles were delicious, but I'd say this is an excellent place to go for a special occasion or if you just feel like freating yourself.
R. H.
Good cocktails (little pricey), cool decor & fast service! I'd recommend :)
F. C.
A fine candidate to sit amongst Britain's best bars. I was truly impressed by how inventive the cocktail menu at Panda & Sons was, with each menu having a certain theme and guest ingredients from other top bars. The fact that it's a speakeasy style bar hidden behind a bookcase, inside a fake barber's makes every feel quite an adventure too!
s. g.
A gem of a place. It's undescribable. You must visit!! The cocktails are of exceptional quality and the service is amazing!! We had a lovely time and made some new memories
R. C.
Great entrance and decor. Loads of original and unique cocktails. Good friendly service.
Book to get a space at the weekends!
G. O.
Extremely disappointed with this place.
The place its self Is extremely cool, however the cocktails were very over rated I think.
The price for these cocktails were expensive
I had a big hopes for this place, just didn't deliver.
C. M.
We loved it. Nice vibe and really good cocktails. Will 100% visit again.
It gets busy so booking in advance is probably a good idea.
J. B.
Amazing little cocktail bar, with quirky interiors. The smell is fantastic from the smoking of the cocktails. Talented cocktail masters!
S. R.
A great cocktail experience. If you are in Edinburgh it's a must visit.
J. G.
Cocktails are fantastic. But you're paying for the experience rather than the product. Wouldn't stay for more than 1 drink.
No physical menus, meaning it took us 5-10mins to finally get the menu as the pub is underground (no phone signal) and the provided WiFi is dire.
Staff were friendly, and had a good sense of humour.
£48 for 4 small cocktails is very steep.
P. L.
WOW. Great place and feel so lucky we managed to get in here. Was so good we stayed much longer than planned. Pricey (for Edinburgh) but worth it.
R. F.
Amazing experience overall, the atmosphere is really good, place is incredible and drinks were just to die for and every details count like the panda on the ice cube
M. R.
Good cocktail place, the Panda and Sons team was very kind. Good level of service.
V. D.
This place was recommended by a friend for when I first came to Edinburgh. I couldn't agree more with him, this place is really good. The front is so peculiar that if I didn't know, I wouldn't guess this was a pub. The door to the actual pub is also very funny, I'm glad I was advised I would have to enter through a bookshelf. The barmen were very nice and helpful, they sat us by the counter and recommend two great pints. We were given a basket with popcorns that I found to be too salty, but it did makes us buy one more pint, so it worked for them :)
I have told about this pub to more people visiting the city, it's worth the visit here!
R. G. K.
Unbelievable experience. Charismatic staff. I completely understand the hype. The cocktails are unique, tasty and interesting!
B. M.
The tastiest cocktails and the most unbelievable service. Panda and Sons knows how to put the customer first with cocktails arriving at your table within a couple of minutes. Friendly, quirky and delicious 😁
J. H.
Fabian went out of his way to make our experience amazing. Very knowledgeable about whiskey and cocktails, and gave us some excellent insight as to what we would like based on what we are drinking in Canada. Super cool experience, loved every second!
S. R.
Unique selection of cocktails, friendly staff & great classic tunes. Shame we only had the table for 90 minutes!
L. S.
"Amazing cocktails" was all I needed to hear to make a visit to this somewhat of an incognito cocktail lounge. It is afterall, based on a Speakeasy from days of past. It doesn't look like a cocktail lounge from the outside (barbershop signage), and it's not really "centrally" located but Edinburgh isn't an enormous city. I would tell you it's worth the hunt. The cocktails were amazingly refreshing, unique, flavorful and the presentation of the cocktails were exceptional. This is the kind of place to take a date. It has a "classic" cocktail lounge feeling to it with vintage cocktail lounge music playing in the background (yes, you can carry on a conversation), cozy seating and warm lighting. I sat at the bar, alone, and felt the "behind the bar" staff forgot about me which is the only reason I'm giving them a 4 Star review. When I had their attention they were knowledgeable, helpful, asked a lot of questions to steer me in the right direction because there are a great many cocktails to choose from. Panda & Sons would be a great start to a night out with friends or loved ones. I highly recommend it! They do have a "sister" bar too. Hoots. No recommendation as I haven't tried it.
A. P.
A bit of a queue to get in but once you are it's really one of the best cocktail bars. The atmosphere ia just genuine and there was no background music which I found quite refreshing. Drinks are amazing
L. M.
Absolutely wicked spot recommended to us by a bartender in a different bar. The switched negroni was the best negroni I’ve had in years! We had whiskey sours also which were fantastic. The service was top notch too! Would definitely revisit🙂
M. F.
Super cool vibe. One of the best speakeasy concepts!!
G. C.
Great atmosphere, friendly staff and amazing cocktails. Highly recommend a visit.
J. T.
Nicest gin bar I've ever been to. It's underground, and disguised as a barber shop - so you wouldn't find it unless you know about it. Even the door to get in is painted as a bookcase, giving it a real feel of a 'hidden gem'. The seating is very comfortable, and there's even a table where the seats are old barber shop chairs. Otherwise, it's chairs and sofas, with really cool interior decoration. I would definitely recommend. They also bring free popcorn and water when you arrive, which adds a nice touch.
K. H.
This cocktail bar is so worth a visit. The drinks are amazing and the staff are so warm and friendly. This is perfect for couples out for a romantic drink or even just worth a visit while your in Edinburgh. The prices are about £7-10 a cocktail but you get your money's worth.
M. t.
Very good and extraordinary cocktails. Very friendly staff. On the door outside it says hairdresser, but don't get confused about it, it really is a bar! ;)
W. “. W.
Escape to the world of Panda and Sons, behind a book case disguised as a barbers. The hustle and bustle is filled with excitement as you enter, the bar was busy and on form. These guys know exactly what they are doing and service was seamless. The Cocktails were exceptional served with knowledge and recommendations. You receive complimentary popcorn laced with Tabasco. The menu is fairly extensive with lots of options, you will be spoilt for choice and will have to return if you want to explore the menu more extensively. Discerning and professional. The panda approns make it quite delightful. See you soon.
L. L.
Fabulous cocktails and amazing service. A great place to visit for a bar that's far from ordinary.
B. C.
Wow! A lot of wow! Amazing knowledge of the cocktails, had tried so many of them. Nice service and music.Very nice atmosphere.
Highly recommending this place!!!
V. K.
Overall I was a bit underwhelmed with my experience at the bar as the cocktails were odd and unfortunately weren't working well as mixes. The balance was definitely off. The feel of the place was equally underwhelming something that you wouldn't expect judging from the exterior of the bar. I think bars like these one try is enough to experience.
D. 8.
Place looked intresting. Staff was friendly. 😊 coctail choice was big but mostly with gin or whiskey. Not much to choose if you not a fan of whiskey/gin.
M. M.
What an amazing night out at this lovely hidden away gem! Cocktails & atmosphere were amazing. For a Monday night, it was so busy, so get there early for a table. Highly recommended for a chilled night out in Edinburgh.
a. v.
Great little cocktails bar set in a unique environment, amazing drinks and outstanding service. Highly recommended.
L. O.
Excellent bar with creative cocktails and a speakeasy vibe. The menu was entertaining and the selection contains a cocktail for every taste. It was difficult to narrow it down to only a few! Definitely worth a visit.
I. R.
Great speakesy bar great cocktails and hidden away great deals playing funky music really enjoyed it thanks
N.
Awesome hidden bar disguised as a barber shop. Inventive cocktails and fantastic service and atmosphere. It can get busy but the waitress lets you know when a seat is about to become available which I though was a lovely touch. I recommend the Bananaman cocktail.
S. P.
WOW! What a place this is. After a brief queue to get in (table booking recommended, they'll take groups of up to 15), the welcome was warm and friendly. The cocktails were excellent and tabasco popcorn brought to the table was a real treat. You really have to go!
L.
Speakeasy style underground cocktail bar. Had to wait quite a while to get in, but it was worth it! Some of the tastiest cocktails I've had, and the free popcorn was definitely a bonus.
A. L.
Easily in my top 3 cocktail bars ever, and I've been to a fair few. The secret entrance is easy to find if you know what you're looking for, and opens up into a surprisingly roomy space with tables and a few squishy couches.
They do table service, and our server was both great and super knowledgeable about the menu. He didn't even have to look at it to know what my partner meant when he said "I think there was one with cocoa in it, maybe?".
I could've put back several of these, especially the one that looks like a grapefruit soda and tastes like coffee. Incredible.
I'm going here every time I'm in Edinburgh.
M. L.
Great selection of cocktails, excellent service, what's not to love 😀
N. H.
Really good cocktail bar in Edinburgh New Town, on the corner under an old barbers, not hard to find. Excellent vibe, great cocktails, the lemon curd tea (with biscuit) is superb. Very good service, lovely people.
S.
Fantastic hidden bar. Great service and very cool bar. Drinks are varied and really interesting menu.. if you have enough time to read it. Quite expensive but worth it for the experience and table service. Only reason I give it 4 stars is because of the over use of plastic straws. Metal straws could be a sustainable alternative.
K.
Great cocktail bar, about 25-30min walk from the centre of town. Great table service too. Has a very 1940s feels to it. You also get free popcorn!
a. k.
Absolutely loved the experience! The waiteress knew her drinks really well. I have read all the previous reviews and thought 'surely, cant be this good' but believe me, it is ! The drinks are priced on a tiny bit expensive side, but worth it!
The drinks we had were sunseekers - makers mark bourbon based (one u see in images) and mexican (something) gin based with savoury notes but lovely refreshing drink .. both were absolutely lovely!
As soon as you go in, the stairs lead you downstairs to a bookshelf and a sewing machine... Open the book shelf and voila, a new world ! The theme of panda and barber shop was carried throughout the whole pub and found so many tiny quirky details in their decor!
We have been loads of places with cocktails but this one is by far our favourite. We are at Edinburgh only for a couple of days and discovered this on the last day. We will definitely be back here the next time we come to Edinburgh!
See you soon for a new haircut and shave Panda and sons ! Keep doing what you're doing !
Z. R.
Great cocktails, such a great atmosphere and friendly staff, felt very covid safe and really wished I could get their panda face masks
W. L.
Very friendly folks, drinks were good but not world-class. I got the Bamboo Cocktail, which was a pretty standard sherry/vermouth cocktail, and the beer/whisky combo with very good whisky. I have every intention of coming back, however, and trying everything on the menu. Hope to bump this up to 5 stars!
EDIT: went again—EXCELLENT Bloody Mary (AKA The Red Panda). Best I’ve ever had.
G. S.
Fantastic speak easy with a great selection of cocktails from Panda & Sons as well as mixologist from all over the world. Great staff and beautiful place.
A. B.
A great cocktail bar near the centre of Edinburgh. Unusual means of entry adds to experience as does the “barber” themed menu and bar. Large selection of unusual cocktails available and served quickly by the friendly staff who took time to explain details of the options available.
E. B. (.
What's an amazing place. The atmosphere is very nice and cocktails are super good with beautiful presentation. We loved the aprons 🐼❤️
R. K.
Place was lovely, and the beer was amazing, actually best pint I've had in Edinburgh, but and big BUT the covid rules are you are only allowed in the pace for 2 hours at a time.alough we spent around 200 pound on drinks we were still asked to leave,I find this bizarre when we are spending good money in the place, other than the covid nonsense I loved the place
N. R.
World class cocktail bar which does consistent trade all through the week.. I visited on a Wednesday and the place was humming! Friendly, knowledgeable bartenders who are happy to give you advice if you're struggling to make a decision.. Highly recommend!
o. t. i. e.
Brilliant little spot. The atmosphere was lively and the downstairs space is great. The menu was packed with interesting creations, seemingly drawing inspiration from bars all across the world. The staff were friendly and helped with recommendations based on taste. I especially enjoyed the calvados and plum wine concoction. Will be returning as soon as possible.
E. L.
Such an amazing bar. Ali was such an attentive server! Ended our trip in Scotland nicely, thank you <3
E. W.
Loved Panda and sons!!!! Such a really cool vibe!! The cocktails were just FAB!!!
Really good service and a lovely atmosphere.
S. C.
Nice open room hidden away behind a secret bookshelf. Interesting drinks with some wacky containers. Staff were nice but not always looking up so could be difficult to get their attention. Free popcorn when you go (not great) but the pork scratchings were good!
m. b.
Very nice speakeasy, as much by the ambiance, the cool vibe but the concept behind the name - take a special attention to the cocktails menu which is quite special. I had 2 drinks and really enjoyed both. Not too pricy for the quality and attention they put in the drinks. Would definitely recommend it for a cosy evening or night with friends or just for as a couple.
A. A.
Such a neat speakeasy style bar in Edinburgh! The drinks are well made, unique and the atmosphere really makes it worth it. Don't be fooled by the exterior.. just go through the bookcase!
k. d.
Welcoming atmosphere...Great customer service...excellent cocktails....what else??? Just Panda &Sons....thank you guys you are so brilliant 👏
L. M.
Great cocktails. Fantastic taste... too bad the glasses are so small 😁
J. S.
Hidden gems! Should not missed!!!
Various types of cocktails with the story behind. You might think it is the strange barber shop if you walk pass by. After stepping in, walk down the stairs, pull the secret door...You will find a wonderful theme bar!
Must go! Highly recommend!
T. S.
The perfect place to go with friends or family to have a great experience!
The place is very cosy and the staff very friendly! And the drinks, the starts of the place, are just fabulous!
Is very difficult choose the first one because all of them looks fantastic!
D.
What a lovely find
Loved the bars outside themeing, to the entrance and the entire atmosphere of the bar
The drinks are reasonably priced for the service, craftsmanship and story behind each cocktail
a. h.
Great experience cocktails were lonely and a great variety of them highly recommend
D. H.
Very cool speakeasy-style bar. We went on a recommendation from a friend. It's a fun experience. (For a very unique drink, try The Birdcage cocktail.) The cocktails are fantastic, the menu is hilarious, and the staff are friendly and attentive. The entrance is camouflaged as a barbershop and the door to the bar is a bookcase. (Food is bar snacks only, they don't serve meals.) This bar was definitely a highlight of our visit to Edinburgh!
(Note: bar is in the basement and dimly lit. Access could be challenging for those with mobility issues or low vision.)
Images: Amor Joven cocktail, front page of menu.
K. S.
Great little cocktail bar, has some class cocktails to try with a good amount of variety. Love the theme too, well executed. Staff are excellent, really on top of their game!
L. K.
Speakeasy set up, and stunning cocktails. Prices are reasonable for the amazing quality and showmanship! Definitely recommend for a special drink experience
J. S.
Great drinks in a fab Speakeasy.
Its hard to get a booking for a reason, so book early.
The cocktail menu is surprisingly large for a quality cocktail bar
L. C.
Love love love!!! Such a cool cocktail bar. Great atmosphere and amazing cocktails!
A. H.
Cozy vibe, really efficient and friendly staff, great drinks. Can get quite busy and there's live music on weekends but doesn't feel crowded.
M. T. M. L.
Visited this speakeasy cocktail bar with my partner and was very happy with the atmosphere, service & drinks. Panda & Sons is on the world’s Top 50 bars and we were very impressed with an array of interesting cocktails. Our servers were very attentive and recommended drinks based on our preferences. We had the Birdcage (most popular drink), Alloway Grove (sweet & refreshing), Stonewaller (beautiful, refreshing, fragrant). Would definitely come back next time!
K. H.
Loved the atmosphere and the whole speakeasy vibe of this pub. It was hard to choose which cocktails we wanted as we saw many uniquely presented cocktails passing us by, that we just wanted to try them all! Nice service, great cocktails!
N. R.
Fantastic cocktails! Fantastic service! Fantastic decor! Totally deserve the spot in worlds best 50.
L.
Brilliant little hidden gem. Delicious cocktails and staff are lovely.
A. L.
Our guide recommended this place and it was really worth it! Peculiar cocktails, nice and attentive staff. Perfect for a date or a party with friends.
T. T.
Best cocktail experience ever!? Lovely staff always laughing, friendly and with good knowledge of each cocktail to help decide which one to try. And the cocktails are unreal! Shout out to the Birdcage and the remix of the Negroni. Amazing ambience, lowkey 'dark corners' vibe with no blaring house music to put you off, just straight speakeasy atmosphere. 100% class all night. Big win x
A. B.
Great selection of unique cocktails with fabulous service
B. H.
From a long time this is my favoutite cocktail bar!! Twice a year Im coming here with my friends who came to visit me and Im always bringing them to this amazing place!! Never been disapponted!!!
Please note dear review readers, that if you want to drink G&T its not your place!! Here is the most special cocktails what I’ve ever had! Always will be back!!! Thank you Guys, you are ALL amazing!!
M. P.
Speakeasy style good old fun with a very creative cocktail menu to go through. The experience is rather tarnished with the covid restrictions (queue lines outside, the bookshelf door having to stay open, etc), but nevertheless probably the best cocktail bar in Edinburgh.
D. W.
Great cocktails, very atmospheric. Recommended.
J. N.
Very accommodating and great drinks.
D. K.
Great cocktails, interesting decor and good vibes 👌🏻
M. H.
Great atmosphere and fun drinks. Experienced bar tenders that can make what you'd like, although I ordered plenty off their menu and so should you.
B. D.
Awesome mega top, great atmosphere fab cocktails, highly recommended. Think you need to book ahead 🐼🐼🐼🐼🐼👍👍
G. S.
If you go to any bar of Edinburgh, make sure you visit Panda or Hoot! A girl at a nearby bubble tea shop told us about Panda & Sons and their sister bar Hoot the Redeemer. If you love cocktails this is your place. However if you love beers/mixers go to Hoot the Redeemer. Regardless, atmosphere was incredible and I wish I had one back in the USA to go to!
S. K.
Ok.... this guys take the cocktails to another level. Amazing place, atmosphere, drinks and hey you get popcorn!! The service was great, specially Alice!
A. S.
Loads of cocktails, but none you recognise. For a speakeasy, it was a bit to easy to find with a que outside
M. K.
Absolutly wonderful place with great cocktails and a superb Service. Nice music from the seventies and the interior a very nice combination. Just like a travel back in Time.
D. W.
Whilst visiting Edinburgh, we met up with some friends who are local. We wanted to go somewhere a bit different. This place is great with a quirky twist . Not the cheapest place but great for something alternative.
J. L.
Really cool cocktail bar. Cocktails were very nice and service was great. Awesome concept!
H. S.
Decor and vibe was amazing and unique, genuinely thought this place was a barbers when passing in the street! 😳 Menu a little confusing at times and wasn’t a huge fan of the cocktails, our waiter was brilliant and really knew his stuff- very helpful.
A. G.
Very interesting cocktails. A little expensive but it’s got great vibes. You don’t have food as such. Just 3 off-the-menu starters. About £9 for a cocktails
S. Z.
Lives up to the hype! We had the Birdcage cocktail which was great.
N. H.
Great interesting cocktails, friendly staff.
J. G.
The best cocktail bar in Edinburgh.
Expensive but still good
P. M.
Go for the bird house cocktail, you will not be disappointed. Very friendly staff!
J. T.
Great cocktails, high quality and selection of spirits and liquors. It's a must to do in Edinburgh!
A. G.
This has to be up there with one of the best, if not THE best, cocktail bars I've ever visited.
Every member of staff, from the doorman to the waiters and bar staff were exceptionally friendly. My partner and I were made to feel welcome from the moment we entered the venue til the moment we left. As for the service, it was fantastic; staff were attentive without over-doing it.
The venue itself is very impressive. Enter behind a subtle bookcase door into an underground Aladdin's cave of drinking and music. Great touch. There was plenty of seating and the rows of small bar tables and proximity to other patrons makes for an intimate experience.
Now we come to the cocktails - Panda & Sons' bread and butter. They were mindblowing. The menu is built up of a few cocktails they have come up with themselves, and a variety of drinks that other cocktail bars around the world have devised. You can take yourself to Paris, New York, Melbourne or Oslo, amongst many others. I went for a Red Panda and it was like a Bloody Mary laced with a secret ingredient designed to get me hooked. Out of this world.
If you are on the fence about visiting this place, and you like cocktails, DO NOT MISS OUT ON THE OPPORTUNITY. It is so worth it - even if there's a queue to get in.
M. T.
Quirky pub, disguised as a barber shop. Quirky decor.
Fabulous and unique cocktails and presentation.
Excellent service.
D. S.
OK, I booked a timeslot, on line, not long before we were due to pay our visit...beware of the app..it seems to default to a random date...probably a week ahead..i didn't take notice, so rocked up at the time, so with no reservation. The girl on the door was really understanding and accomodating and managed to fit us in then and there. Had to cancel the reservation, the week or so hence. The place itself is really quirky, with cocktails "off piste", but really nice, as are the beers. Loved it 👍
A. T.
Stunning list of original cocktails with unique twists that you are unlikely to find without a lot of trying (and flying). Definitely worth a visit, even if you find cocktails a bit iffy!
D. O. D.
Fun night out. Great venue with some very quirky drinks. Would definitely be back

"Not Just a Bar, an Experience"
A must try if your in Edinburgh, Great Atmosphere and Music
J. C.
Exactly what I want in a cocktail bar. The bartenders are wizards and are super nice. Atmosphere is on point. Ru Paul was delightful. True romance was great. Red panda is great, but I made the mistake of insisting on 10 for the heat. 7-8 and you can taste how good this drink is. To hell with bloody Marys
k. g.
Best bar I've done so far !
Incredible cocktail list, affordable, very good and friendly staff
D. P.
Very quaint, well-hidden bar in the centre of Edinburgh. The cocktail offering is incredible - they have something for everyone! The way they’re named is very original and it’s fun picking what you’d like to have. The service is excellent and you can get a great recommendation based on your preference.
P. J.
Never been to a speakeasy before.
Great night good service and good cocktails.
Will visit again.
C. M.
One of Edinburgh's best cocktail bars, it is truly amazing with its selection of drinks. It serves lovely bar snacks and has a truly unique interior design. I would tell everyone to try this place as it really is a fantastic venue.
N. D.
A little too formal for my liking but worth the visit staff really nice nd so professional
N. S.
Cocktails here are next level. The switched old fashioned and the Birdcard were fire!
E. C.
Such a lovely experience every time! The staff are helpful and friendly, it is a super cosy atmosphere and the drinks are delicious. Worth branching out from your usual choices to get something amazing but they do the classic cocktails so well. A favourite spot every time we visit Edinburgh.
J. J.
Really fun venue! I love panda and sons, this place came heavily recommended, but really lived up to everything I had heard. The venue is so well designed creating a brilliant atmosphere inside. The menus are fantastically well designed so much so that everyone at the table practically read them cover to cover, its quirky and fun. The cocktails are good, well designed and all with some thing to make them unique. The staff are very willing to help with recommendation which can help with such an extensive menu
I. H.
Great cocktails and lovely staff
S. C.
Not my mind of place but seemed nice if you like cocktails
M. G.
This is a great bar to come with friends or a date. The cocktails are original and the setting is really cool, done up like a classic barber shop. They have a DJ playing on the weekends which ands to the atmosphere. The only caution is be prepared to wait or even be turned away if it’s busy. This place fils up fast so get there early!
D. W.
Great wee place but cocktails are expensive for the size of them
H. D. K.
Always up to high standards. Great cocktails, amazing service. One of the best places in Edinburgh to have your cocktail. I would recommend the birdcage, as you get one of the finest presentations I've seen. Keep up the good work! Truly a place with a strong authentic character!!
J. D.
Very Quirky tucked away cocktail bar. Fun environment and very tasty cocktails with unusual ingredients.
C.
Inventive cocktail menu. As an Asian, I gotta try the “tikka takeaway” it was an interesting experience... worth the try.
H. D.
Really interesting and tasty cocktails, none like I'd ever tasted!
V. Á. P.
Best haircut in the city.
J. S.
If you've read a couple of my reviews, you know that I am not a drinker. I have yet to develop the taste for alcohol, warm beverages, most juices, and soda. But that's another story.
Anyway! My friend told me about this place and said that even if I don't drink, this place is worth visiting. She was RIGHT!
This place is awesome, unlike any bar I've been to in my life or heard about in my life. It mascarades as a barber shop on the outside but once you find the secret library door, it unlocks a SPEAKEASY (it's not illegal though, it's just the theme)
It's so cool! You feel all fancy and old timey. They have an awesome extensive menu of cocktails and alcohols, and FREE POPCORN. My friend and I had like 6 bowls.
I ordered one of their ''interactive'' cocktails, a long island ice tea that turns black when they add their special syrup. It was super fun to watch and I did enjoy sipping it for the time we were there.
I absolutely recommend this place!
E.
Excellent cocktails worthy of 5 stars! A speakeasy bar disguised with a barber shop front. Down the stairs you will be greeted with a spacious bar. Minimal snack selection. -1 on the stale & chewy complimentary pop corn. Maybe I got there in the wrong tone :/ but I would go back in a heart beat just to try out other cocktails!
C. D.
Worth a stop on your trip to Edinburgh, try a Moscow Mule w/Reyka, or their wide selection of custom made cocktails
T. W.
If in Edinburgh, please treat yourself and visit this gem of a cocktail bar. The birdcage is amazing as is the staff.
N. W.
What a wonderful cocktail bar. Loved the way it was set out. Service was brilliant and the waiter recommended a fantastic cocktail after I'd said what I liked and disliked. Don't go to many cocktail bars so can't say if the prices were the norm, paid £9 per cocktail and would definitely go back.
m. l.
Brilliant atmosphere, the staff were fantastic and knowledgeable. The cocktails were original and tasted great. Can't wait to go again. Would recommend reserving a table if you plan to go after 8pm as quickly fills up.
E. V.
An amazing selection of cocktails in an amazing setting.
g. m.
Met friends for a mid-week drink. After wondering if I was at the right place (front entrance looks like an old barber shop) I descended the stairs and was confronted by a filled bookcase... On pulling one of the projecting books the bookcase swing open to reveal the bar. Wasn't overly busy for mid-week but still a pleasant buzz with about 2/3 of the 30 or so tables occupied. Had a browse through the fairly comprehensive cocktail menu. Full table service which is a nice touch these days. Not sure how or even if that works on a busy weekend night. Enjoyed a couple of delicious cocktails whilst some friends tried some of the good beers on tap. Complimentary water and spicy popcorn to keep you going and no doubt whet your appetite for that next cocktail... A nice experience. Something a little out of the ordinary. Recommended.
A. B.
Went here with my boyfriend after work after a friend recommended it! I was a little surprised we were walking into a barber shop (although the bouncer outside does give it away a little....) and it was fun finding the secret way in (I won't ruin the surprise!)
We were quickly seated by a friendly waitress and had some water and even popcorn on our table in no time, which was awesome.
The menu is a little hard to chose from, and it isn't easy to work out what all the fancy drinks others are having are. Despite this we managed to make a good choice, definitely impressed with the birdcage being served in a mist of smoke. And the drinks were lovely as you would expect.
Only stayed for one, and it is maybe on the slightly expensive end (as a student). Really cool atmosphere, live DJ, friendly staff, interesting drinks. Worth a visit!
a. p.
Lovely atmosphere and beautifully presented drinks, and all but one member of staff were friendly
One of the waitresses had a terrible attitude and almost ruined our night, she was rude and unfriendly and seemed unwilling to help us with any questions.
G. T.
Great cocktails, expected a bit more from the atmosphere though
E. M.
brilliant idea. hidden inside the barbershop. go through the book case and voila! a hidden cocktail bar.
W.
I went hear a few years ago and the place really stuck in my memory. It was a great little find and a bit of a secret location. Such an atmospheric place with great vibes and friendly staff. Quite pricy cocktails but worth every penny for the quality and the atmosphere. She. I next go to Edinburgh this place will be on top of my lists of places to revisit!
L. G.
Amazing what they do with drinks
E. L.
Fake-underground bar with a barbershop front. Decor inside is made to match the setting perfectly, with displays full of vintage barbershop stuff. Big selection of intriguing cocktails with unique presentations and punny names. And great taste too. A generous serving of complimentary popcorn. Awesome.
M. G.
What a great cocktail bar.
Staff extremely knowledgeable and friendly
K. C.
Love this speakeasy. You enter through a bookcase into a intimate but lively bar. I wasn't sure I wanted anything on the menu so I asked for a surprise based on what I like and they made me probably the most delicious cocktail I've ever had! Really friendly staff.
J. S.
We went for one cocktail just to try it out, I had a beer and my SO had some cocktail. It was £8 for the cocktail but was the smallest serving I have ever seen, but it was very nice and made is stay a little longer.
We had another couple of beers which were all craft rather than generic mass produced, and 2 more cocktails, with beers costing around £4.50, and cocktails around £8. The beer was surprisingly cheap considering the venue and its popularity.
Overall the place is a little pretentious but the drinks were good, if a little pricey, and music and service was good (especially with it being so busy). We would definitely go again.
j. b.
Awesome hidden cocktail bar (a speakeasy specifically). Its cocktail menu is very creative and very tasty. Its atmosphere is excellent, with the right mix of calm and excited intrigue. The cocktails themselves are very well presented with very inventive serving methods that are a real spectacle. It is a great part of the Edinburgh cocktail scene and is definitely worth a nosey around if you can find it.
M. D.
This is a pretty fun, cool place: there is a really large and interesting set of cocktails available (both of the ones I had were perfect).
We were seated pretty much instantly despite it being busy and the staff were attentive and quick to get and bring our orders.
Some large groups were getting pretty rowdy and taking flash photography in the smaller area we were in so that was a bit annoying so that is in the end what led us to leave. Despite this, I would absolutely recommend this place!
C. W.
Brilliant 'secret' bar. From the front the place looks like a traditional barber's shops, with prices for a shave etc on the window, walk through the door and down the stairs and you're presented with a door hidden in a bookcase. Walk through and you find a very large basement bar with a lot of seating including booths and even traditional barber's chairs. The decor here is first class and in keeping with the theme. There is a short but good beer menu, (you'll pay around £4.50 for a pint), and a very substantial cocktail menu. Table service is standard and we got a little bowl of popcorn between the three of us as we waited for our drinks. They give you tumblers of water too as standard which is always a nice touch. We got a little cold under the air conditioning and the staff were very accommodating in moving us. Great service and great drinks.
E. A.
Wonderful bar, excellent service. Well worth a visit, and we'll certainly be back!
A. P.
Great place following the speakeasy concept, with amazing coctails and super friendly staff.
D. O.
A fun place to spend a night with a good choice of cocktails and some really friendly staff. It is normally very busy at weekends and quite tricky to get a seat but the staff are accommodating and make sure that as people leave, the people that have been waiting the longest get to take their seats. The whole idea of this bar is very cool but you are not disappointed once you enter as there are still a lot of cool quirks such as the phone box or the wig templates on the bathroom mirrors!
S. C.
A fantastically quirky bar with a wealth of cocktails you won't find in your standard bar. Classics and requests are usually also available.
The bar staff are always friendly and attentive. There is generally music playing in the background and the atmosphere is such that you can have an easy conversation if with other people.
Each 'sitting' comes with a tasty basket of popcorn! Sometimes it's salty, sometimes spicy, a perfect excuse to order more drinks! Also, sometimes your drink is served in a Panda!
F. R.
Hands down the best cocktail bar I've been to in my life. The decor is exquisite, complete a fake barbershop entrance to the bar to confirm it's classic speakeasy vibe. The level of attention and creativity given to each drink was quite impressive, such as the "Bird Cage" cocktail I ordered which arrived in a smoke-filled glass bird cage that emanated toasted cinnamon vapor when lifted to reveal my drink. Every drink I tasted was fantastic, both on the menu and off. This is a can't-miss spot for anyone spending time in Edinburgh.
A. W.
Brilliant staff, excellent cocktails.
L. M.
A lot of fun! Difficult to get a seat so if you see a spot grab it!! Great variety on the menu, would definitely recommend! Been coming for nearly 2 years now since my wedding, and my husband and I just love it, every time.
A. G.
Really good quality cocktails and quirky choices. Reasonably priced and the staff were so friendly and helpful. Would definitely come back and recommend - especially to try more of the whisky based cocktails that aren’t to be missed in Edinburgh.
B.
A hidden speakeasy-style joint disguised at street level as a barber shop. Everyone behind the bar had an impressive grasp of the cocktails they were making. They knew their menu very well, and were happy to improvise phenomenal cocktails based on just a few questions your pallet and preferences.
T. S.
Coolest bar I've ever been to! Staff were so friendly and the cocktails were amazing
M. T.
Lovely little bar with an amazing variety of drinks and fancy cocktails! Great atmosphere, with low ceilings and very romantic lighting! Always buzzing with people on the fancier side as this isn't a place to get trashed, not that anybody forbids it lol! I'd recommend for a night out with close friends or even a date as it's an ideal blend of social and quiet enough to hold a conversation over great drinks, atmosphere and music!
S. C.
First time going, and absolutely loved it. The cocktails were tasty, each with it's own flair, and the staff were so nice. We ended up paying by card just so we could leave a bigger tip! Definitely going back soon :)
V. L.
Great little spot that is semi hidden - the location is given away by the bouncer and smokers outside. Downstairs it is surprisingly spacious, which is great.
We had a Tiki Takeaway and Emperor's New Clothes, which were both excellent. Service was smooth, polite and helpful.
Highly recommended.
M. D.
I don't usually drink cocktails, but when I do its at Panda & Sons! ;-) I LOVE this place - they have such an incredible cocktail menu, and they're always presented so inventively that I think I must have taken a photo of almost every cocktail I've had here! Definitely recommend!!!
M. F.
Great, unique cocktails in this underground bar. Would recommend the Buzzin AF - tasted like a whiskey based espresso martini.
Don't expect to find a pina colada here!
I. M.
Hip, cool & quirky bar, which has got a "speak-easy" feel about it from the walk down the stairs and into the bookcase door to get into the bar. They've got a good range of cocktails on the menu, with staff able to service any that aren't there. Floor staff walk around when it's busy and try and get people standing tables that become free, which is a great touch.
Decor is simple wood throughout but really warm and inviting. Young, cool, fresh vibe about the place, great place to come for a cocktail or two.
D. P.
Hidden underground bar in Edinburgh’s New Town. From the street the entrance looks like an old style barber. You have to take the stairs downstairs to be face to face with a bookshelf. If you manage to open it, you will arrive in a darkish, low-ceiling room with old fashion seats and sofa. You sit down and can choose one of the yummy cocktails or season beers on the menu. The place isn’t too loud (with is great!)
K.
Nice hidden speakeasy bar!
I heard a lot before i go there!
The Place is nice, hidden behind a library.
We sat in the bar for some cocktails and its a shame for a Cocktail bar regarding as one of the Best to serve cocktails like this.. I've been to countless bars in europe, with less reputation, but the cocktails we had at Panda are among the worst. Seruously its not a bad Place, i Will love to go back again, but expept of advertaising the techniques you use for the cocktails, Just improve them.
Staff was good and attentive, definetely need a superstar behind the bar though.

If you've ever been to a speakeasy, you'll feel right at home here. You walk into a barbershop to walk downstairs to a library and a hidden door to the bar. Inside the bar, it's cozy and casual atmosphere with tons of cocktails with fun and silly names. They can make just about anything or let the bartender create something new and special. They make their own special popcorn which is incredibly yummy while you sip on fun concoctions.
L. G.
Very lovely has a cheeky proabition vibe which makes you feel like your doing something bad (and therefore more fun!). Also pandas every where and the staff are very friendly and helpful. Cocktails were delicious with a huge selection, something to please everyone. For the centre of Edinburgh the prices are not too bad. Will be back!
S. W.
I've only been for afternoon drinks, but it's a cool quirky bar with a great interior. Cocktails were nice and came with a glass of water and little bowl of peppery/spicy popcorn which was a nice touch. Staff were great and friendly. Only downside is as it is underground there's no natural light, so I wouldn't go again in the afternoon. I'd definitely go back in the evening though!
Q. Z.
Great cocktail menu. I ordered 3 cocktails. They were all very tasty. Nice atmosphere. Very friendly and professional staff. Would love to go back and try different cocktails!
G. B.
What a great find, a really unusual setup. You enter through the barbers shop entrance, go down the stairs and pull the book in the bookcase to enter the bar. It's a nice light, airy space with quirky interior touches. We were seated at a table for two and sat in comfy leather barbers shop chairs!
The staff were really friendly and the drinks menu is extensive with a great range of unique cocktails. The wine list is great with a nice big selection of wine by the glass if everyone in the group wants something different.
We tried the small sized cheese and meat boards, and the only downside was they were very small sized. So think of the food there as a nibble to go with drinks rather than a light meal.
D. N. A.
Interesting faux speak-easy cocktail bar.
Have been here a couple of times. While the quirkiness of the venue and décor wears off after a few minutes, what you're left with is a pretty solid cocktail bar.
Service can be painfully slow on a busy night (which is down to the care they take with their menu) so be prepared for a long wait on occasion and, as befitting a cocktail bar in that area, prices can be on the high side.
Still, staff are nice and it's got a good atmosphere. It's definitely preferable to heading somewhere on George Street.
C. G.
The bar looks like a barber shop from the outside. You have to take the stairs down and walk through the "bookshelf", which is actually the door to the bar. The coktails were reasonable priced and they served us free spicy popcorn and water. I really enjoyed the atmosphere and interior!
M. K.
Creative cocktails housed in a prohibition style barbershop. The friendly informed staff will happily talk you through the menu to find a cocktail to suit. One of the best things here is the complimentary popcorn with hotsauce.
t.
Seen this on a YouTube blog video, Edinburgh food marathon, and so glad I sought it out. The barber shop theme is clever, free popcorn gets you in the mood for drink, an extensive cocktail menu and some great local beers. Peter who served us was a real good guy who was attentive, good craic and had great knowledge of the local area. Try this bar, you wont be disappointed!!
E. T.
I love the speakeasy concept of a hidden bar and it was loads of fun taking my mum here and watching her face as we went through the bookcase! Overall the cocktails were nice but super strong so I wouldn't recommend having too many! Very cute feel to the place and friendly staff.
K. I.
Absolutely love this bar! Fantastic ambience, feels like an adventure into a different era. The decor is fabulous and I adored the theatrics and presentation of the drinks. I expected it to be more expensive than it was, so was pleasantly surprised there.
C. T.
A stylish bar to go for sneaky cocktails, "hidden" at in the basement of a fake barber shop always gets a laugh from first time visitors, as do some of the cocktails. Creatively served in unique glasses / bell jars / clouds of smoke they are all interesting and unique.
Even if it can sometimes be a bit to hip for its own good, if a cocktail bar's only fault is being too trendy then it must be doing something right :)
B. M.
We were given a snack menu by our waiter once seating us. By the time someone came to tale pur order aparantly the kitchen had closed. Cocktails weren't the best. Nice place for a quiet drink not much of at atmosphere
G. H.
Another seriously cool bar.
The place has a 1920's speak easy prohibition era theme right down to entering through the door hidden behind a book case at the back of a barbers shop.
The bar is very well stocked and the cocktail list is good,
From memory its not expensive by Edinburgh bar standards but as with all good places it gets very busy very quickly.
L. B.
So cool! Hidden behind a barber shop front, down some stairs and behind a bookcase you will find Panda and Sons. Great service, quirky and incentive cocktails that taste great and will make a good Instagram photo. You get water and popcorn too which is great as the cocktails can be quite strong! The bar is also deceptively big so should be plenty of room for everyone to experience!
M. O.
How doesn't love a hidden bar? Tucked away behind a bookshelf in the basement of a "barbers shop". Absolutely gem of a find. On-top of that, all their cocktails are unique and exquisite. Especially enjoyed the Tian Tian; a sweet pea cocktail that gives all of the flavours listed and surprises you with how much you love it.
B. G.
Great bar. Attentive staff. Please please please try the bread and dips. That pesto is fantastic.
T. L.
Panda & Sons is a fun place to try. It is quirky and has a nice feel to it walking down the barber shop's stairs, through the bookcase door, and into another world downstairs. I like that there are various rooms off the main central room. That said, it just gets way too packed and too loud.
The cocktail menu is extensive , and the bartenders are all experts and can make you anything off-menu that you want as well. In fact, that's what I'd recommend doing because I really didn't like any of their cocktails that I tried. They're just too boozy and aren't all that pleasant. It's a fun place to go for the novelty factor, but it's not my favourite.
L. O.
Very swanky and stylish hidden bar. From the outside it is a barbers shop and if you didn't know better you would never know what was behind the façade.
I have had some great cocktails here, especially the smoked coconut water one.
K. K.
Greatest secret of Edinburgh. Unsuspecting trendy cocktail bar in the guise of a barbershop. I've visited Edinburgh twice and each time I've gone here I wasn't dissapointed. The same level of enthusiasm from the staff as they tell you a little info on each drink you order. Presentaion is excellent and the taste is unbeliveable. I've almost finished tasting the entire menu and I'm excited for my next visit.
J. T. M.
Great place, a must visit if you're in Edinburgh.
S. M.
Been here 3 or 4 times now. Initially for a friend's birthday party. Nice little place, though a bit on the steep side price wise. Its a dark speakeasy-esque bar, I've had good chats with some of the staff about whisky and they are very knowledgeable in this regard.
It can get really busy in the weekends though so I'd recommend booking an area if you're coming with a big group as there isn't much standing space.
P. C.
Amazing Hidden Gem, Staff are so friendly and make you feel at ease. Definitely a Place to start your night. Cocktails are delicious and if you can't find anything you like they will look after you !!!
J. B.
Really cool speakeasy kind of place. You enter through what looks like the entrance to an old-fashioned barbershop, pass through a "secret" door, and suddenly you find yourself in a really cosy bar! The cocktail list was a bit too advanced for me, but I've heard they're good so I'll have to have a closer look next time. I'll definitely be bringing visitors here in the future!
T. M.
The ideal hidden bar. The waiters and cocktails makers were extremely well trained and knew their drinks from the classics to modern twists. Loved the speakeasg style and atmosphere and had to be dragged out by my friends in the end!!
R. K.
The free popcorn is divine and the cocktails are delicious. Hard pushed for a table on a busy night with larger groups but the staff are great at always trying to find you a table, if you're willing to stand at the bar for a bit on arrival.
S. M.
Pandas and Sons definitively offers the wow factor from the entrance! If you think you are entering a barber shop you are correct but hidden behind the bookshelves, you will discover more than that: Pandas and son cocktail bar! The atmosphere is relax, the music is enjoyable and you will find a great table service. The cocktail menu is so extensive that you will need 10 minutes to find your cocktail. They are all very extravagant but I think I have never quite chosen the perfect one. I have lost myself into cocktails that were not right for me. If you are hungry, order some charcuterie and cheese plates. They are very good. Prices are very reasonable between 6.5 and 9 pounds for cocktails.

Such a different but cool atmosphere, very dark with us being underground but very safe given the current situation, cocktails are average price but not your average cocktail, you’ll walk in sober and come out wondering where you are 😂
S. M.
A great concept, a speakeasy style bar with a disguised barbershop entrance and entrance through a bookcase. Inside the interior is nice, but did n't blow me away - I felt like I could have been in any hotel bar.
The cocktail menu is extensive and interesting and staff were friendly, but with table service, it sometimes meant that getting drinks could be a bit of a slow process when it gets busy.
S. B.
This is the coolest bar I have ever been to in my life. So much character. If you are ever in Edinburgh, Scotland you have to go here. If you can find it.
Everyone needs visit the barbershop and don't be afraid to look behind the bookcase!
S. H.
Excellent cocktails and music. Pity the door wasn't opened for us as we had been led to believe as a portal into the hidden speak easy but lovely staff. Highly recommend.
L. G.
Just the experience of finding the bar makes this a worthwhile visit. Drinks are pricey, but totally worth the splurge. Cheese board was good value, unsure what we were supposed to do with that volume of chutney though....
C. R.
Really fun place for a cocktail or 2. Sometimes you get one served in a takeaway container or a tin can, but they're all tasty. I really enjoyed the wasabi nuts, I'll have to see if more bars offer those too.
H. P.
Great place! Interesting cocktail list, well made and presented drinks. It was quite busy on a Friday night but the staff managed it very well
L. D.
Wonderful. Cool as f... this bar is a hidden gem. Cracking drinks and bartenders with oozes of personality. What you waiting for?
J. H.
It's a really cool entrance, through a faux barber shop. The room is larger than it seems, dark and candle lit. They do table service which is a nice touch, takes the stress out of queuing, and for a bar they do table service VERY well (water glasses always full etc.). The cocktails are as you'd imagine, small and tasty and about £8. I went there on a Friday and managed to get a table. It was very loud though and the decor/ toilets didn't live up to the hype.
J. C.
Panda & Sons is the best fun for cocktails and atmosphere in the New Town. Located through the front of a vintage barbers shop and through a secret door you take some steps down to a comfortable and stylish bar with lots of quaint and cosy areas to experience the different cocktail creations offered by the Panda family.
The staff are friendly, knowledgeable and always on hand when you want them to be. Niki, our waitress gave us excellent advice on drinks and made a show of bringing the fancy cocktails to the table.
The decor and the furniture all fit the theme started upstairs in the barber shop front which adds to the fun of a place already doing a great job on comfort, style and the drinks on offer. This is a great place to meet a date and if you get in early there should be plenty of space. You would need to make a booking for a weekend night and should try a couple days in advance to make sure you can be accommodated.
V. N.
Being sunday night we were not expecting rush hour however after being seated we waited 10 minutes for the menus. After recommendation we received our drinks without instructions that we missed since one of the coctails came in two glasses. Overall vibe is mediocre. Recommend Nightcap instead, open till 3am.
J.
Our favorite cocktail bar in Edinburgh.
A great quirky cocktail bar serving absolutely incredible craft cocktails. There's just the right amount of pomp and theatrics that places like this thrive on but underneath that the drinks and barmanship are second to none. Can't rate it highly enough. And as for the popcorn....

Great speakeasy bar. Genuinely an ordinary barber's from the outside, but once you're downstairs there's a great vibrant atmosphere and excellent drinks. Bit dark, but wouldn't be much of a speakeasy if it wasn't!
P. G.
Impossible question - which is better: the speak-easy entrance and barber shop chairs, or their award-winning cocktails? Great atmosphere, great staff, and nice spicy popcorn when it's quieter. Arguably the hottest cocktail bar in Edinburgh right now.
M. L.
Me and my girlfriend have been here a few times and we love it. This bar is so quirky and we love how you have to go through the bookcase. There are so many choices of drinks and they are all lovely.
L. P.
Panda & Sons is on Queen's St but you might not know its there. Disguised as a barber shop you would walk past it without realising. Styled like an old fashioned speakeasy you walk downstairs to be confronted by a bookcase, behind which is an amazing cocktail bar. These guys really know their cocktails and I think the menu offers something a little different from your standard cocktail list. A lot of the cocktails are whisky based, but even if you're not a big fan a whisky I would definitely try one of the cocktails as the combination of flavours really work. We went early one evening and thought the staff were helpful and were happy to recommended something.
T. A.
Enter the mysterious barber shop and doen the stairs to a book case. Open up that bookcase door and your into cocktail quality. Attentive service even when busy... they'll do their best to look after you.
F. Z. N.
Hands down one of my favorite bars in Europe. Must go every time my wife and I are In Edinburgh
E. A.
Really cool place. Great speakeasy type feel, away from the touristy areas and not overrun with people. The drinks were awesome and great presentation. Had a very nice time and would recommend to anyone looking for something different than touristy areas.
D. S.
Nice atmosphere but very pricey for the size of cocktails you get.
A. K.
I love the bookcase door and the barbershop entry. Interesting cocktail menu and really nice staff. Very nice place to go for drinks with friends but can often be busy and hard to get a table.
M. B.
Great speakeasy bar and staff are very friendly
k. d.
Fabulous hidden gem of a cocktail bar. Lovely atmosphere and great tasting cocktails a real winner and a must try when visiting Edinburgh.
C. Y.
Nice venue going through the secret door but there was an unpleasant smell in the actual bar. Good table service and range of drinks. Complimentary popcorn was nicely spiced but sadly stale.
K. P.
Such an interesting quirky hidden bar. Cocktails were a little strong but well presented. Also nice they make sure that everyone has a seat by restricting entrance and free popcorn.
R. A.
Amazing cocktail menu here, one we had came in a tea cup with shortbread biscuits. Another was in a Chinese takeaway box! So many cocktails to choose from and they are well explained on the menu. Free popcorn to snack on while you enjoy your drinks
K. A.
A cool bar with varied cocktail menu. They've really got their marketing working well for them, I found out about this place through word of mouth and made my way there within a week. You're rewarded for finding the place within it's secret facade with a highly stylised interior, friendly staff and a cool vibe.
S. P.
One of the best bars I've been in Edinburgh and why not in Europe.
The cocktails menu is huge and with amazing options.
Definitely a must go if you enjoy nice bars.
M. D.
Professional friendly and skilled stylist.
Keilan listened, offered his views and did what I wanted.
Very pleased 😀😊
R. W.
Gorgeous original cocktails in the most wonderful setting. Staff so helpful
L. C.
Panda & Sons is the new kid on the scene, and one you could almost forget exists, given its sneakily disguised frontage as a barber shop. But, skip past that facade, go through the bookcase (!!), and inside awaits a cool prohibition-era Speakeasy inspired bar with an even cooler cocktail menu. One for the cocktail connoisseurs, craft beer enthusiasts & bright young things. Besides.. half the fun is trying to get in! Very popular with those in-the-know.. However, one thing that I feel lets this bar down is the sliiiightly too out-there cocktail choices. Me and many of my friends have found it difficult to find a cocktail we actually enjoyed drinking, but I guess the excitement is in the theatrical presentation (e.g. presented in a smoking birdcage!). Take it for what it is - a unique experience!
M. G.
If you're looking for a Speakeasy themed cocktail bar (and who isn't) stop what you're doing and go here now. Great cocktails, fun theme/decor and first rate staff. Will be taking all visitors to fair Edinburgh here, possibly as soon as they arrive.
T. W.
This place is a lot of fun! Tucked downstairs from a faux barber-shop, it's all barber-and-panda themed. The drinks are really great, and served with a lot of flair (and smoke!)
There's plenty of seating, and cosy corners, and the staff are really friendly and attentive, with an endless supply of popcorn to nibble on with drinks.
There's a lot to try, and prices are mostly around £8.
S. R.
Such a quirky place, love the entire atmosphere. Feels just like you've stepped back into 1920's prohibition. So many great drinks to choose from aswell. The Emperor's New Clothes is my favourite.
C. C.
Had a great time here, it's a very cozy place to have a drink
S. C.
I love that google has listed it as a hairdresser - might be a bit confusing if you called up to make an appointment for a cut and blow dry....Really would reccomend this bar if you're in the mood for a cocktail, for the lovely surroundings the prices were actually alright, with cocktails a comparable price to other places. However the difference is the attention to detail, the making of the drinks being a bit of a show in itself, the table service and the decor. First visit was on a really busy Saturday night but we were acknowledged quickly and a table found for us within about ten minutes. Will definitely be back soon.
E. B.
One of the best cocktail bars I have been to in a long, long time. Great atmosphere, friendly and attentive staff, superb drinks. Highly recommended!
D. M.
Great staff but the cocktails were undrinkable, won't be going back, but if you like cocktails that taste like vegetables and other weird combinations, feel free, its £9.50 for a cherry glass sized drink.
J. G.
The cocktail menu is a novella of drink descriptions. You basically need to order something to drink while you read through the menu to decide what you want to drink. My Shanghai Paloma came in a plastic lemon with a big bendy straw - clever presentation in theory, but in practice the strong smell of the plastic took away from my enjoyment of the drink (which was otherwise very good). My second cocktail, whose name I have forgotten, came in a regular old glass and was delicious. There were some good beers available as well, for those not delighted by cocktails.
I am not sure what to make of the elaborate panda barbershop speakeasy theme yet, but at least it is amusing.
R. M.
Panda & Sons is a really cool bar in Edinburgh, tucked away in Edinburgh's new town a short walk from Princes Street. Straight from the moment you enter the venue it espouses hipster cool - From the outside it looks like a hairdressers, and after heading down the stairs you need to open a bookcase to enter! Inside the decor is very lounge (If you've ever visited Edinburgh's The Place Under The Stairs you'll be right at home). Old style furniture, with leather chairs, dimly lit - shabby chic at it's finest. On offer on the menu is a range of cocktails, craft beers/ales and wine so if you like your alcohol a little less mainstream or want to let your tastebuds explore something a little different to the usual pub fare you'll be right at home. There is table service, though I found that we had to walk to the bar a couple of times to order and at one point an order I had made was forgotten - However the staff were very friendly and apologetic about this, discounting my bill without my even asking. At weekends it can get very busy so you'll need to book in advance as it's seating only. If you want to visit a bar in Edinburgh with a really comfortable, quirky atmosphere Panda & Sons comes highly recommended.
J.
Interesting selection of cocktails and a cool speak easy style entrance. Good value drinks and informal feel to the place.
Had: Harry Belafonte & Robinson Crusoe
K. C.
It's a boom time for the Edinburgh cocktail scene but comparative newcomers Panda & Sons really are a cut above. Alongside an easy mastery of old staples (old fashioneds, martinis, margaritas, and daiquiris were all ordered and declared exemplary) the speakeasy inflected boozer boasts a lengthy selection of newly designed drinks which are both inventive and perfectly pitched. Whether it's a thick, smoky whisky wallop or a delicate tropical rum tipple you're after, desires will be satisfied. The surroundings - which feature leather stuffed sofas, antiquated bookshelves, and honey-hued lighting - are both stylish and inviting, with just the right level of quirk. Head there on a weeknight if you want to avoid crowds, though - unfortunately, it's The Place To Be at the weekends.
R. G.
This place has been on our list since it opened. Great staff, great atmosphere, we couldn't fault! We went with a group of four, but couples or larger group would be equally welcomed and looked after. An enjoyable experience from start to finish!
F.
This is incredible! I have been so many times, speakeasys are the best. My favourite cocktail is Birdcage - if you like whisky and a cocktail presented in a smoky belljar, this is the one for you! The staff are really cool as well. I just wish that 1950s pay phone in the back actually worked!
R. D.
The latest trend in bars is to make them Speakeasy like, hidden behind a facade of another business. Panda & Sons uses a barbers frontage to meet the brief although the existence of a hi-viz clad bouncer on the door kind of gives the game away. Once descending the steps you are faced with a bookcase in front of you and a tug on one of the books open the door to a prohibition styled bar.
It has a pretty wide collection of cocktails and each table is kept stocked with glasses of popcorn as you drink. Some of the cocktails come with a display, particular the one that comes served with a smoking demijohn.
A fun place to spend an evening drinking good quality cocktails.
C. C.
Took my girlfriend here as a surprise, she loved it. Cocktails were great and staff were even better. Recommend you book in advance, it fills up quickly!!
A. T.
Amazing drinks in a really cool setting, only let down by a rude waitress.
G. x.
Fun bar hidden behind a book shelf. This place is purposefully quirky with a good selection of cocktails. Prices are not cheap but not scarily expensive either and the staff are helpful and not pushy.
P. T.
Hidden gem. The place to go. Each drink has a twist, or a few..
N. B.
One of the most hipster joints in town, but that's pretty much classic cocktail bar, innit? The drinks are gorgeous, no denying that, but the decor is a bit too tryhard. I enjoy a bookcase-door and dentists' chairs as much as the next man, but when you chuck it altogether and give it the most sickeningly twee bar name in the city? Use sparingly.
J. D.
Such a fantastic concept and execution. Never had a drink here that wasn't amazing. Service can be a bit slow when they get busy which means they lose a little business from us when we have to leave by a certain time but they are usually pretty good.
L. G.
Thought this place was gonna be all ponce and perfume when I heard about a new take on the style bar (yawn) but this is a much more subtle smoke and mirrors affair, with a real hard grafting bar at it's core. Yes you can have a little adventure finding this speakeasy with the faux shop front and prohibition bookcase entry but this is a true gem. Great for chilling in the quiet of a late afternoon munching on their spicy complimentary popcorn sipping an old fashioned or having a bigger get together. Be warned this is no longer the new kid in the block but a popular regular go to so always busy. In fact sometimes a little too busy and can feel a bit claustrophobic for those less frequent drinkers due to the low ceilings. Staff are great, table service is provided as standard which really helps when it's rammed, and the cocktail list is really out there - fancy a smoke filled cloche delivered to your table? So why not 5 stars? Well I'd say it's 5 stars if you plan ahead and book a table or swing by early doors and get the place to yourself otherwise 4 stars when it's heaving just cause it's inevitable that getting served will take longer, but still worth the wait.
F.
Not really a secret bar but really nice. Drinks were lovely.
S. J.
What a lovely genuine experience! Love it and will be back.
A. S.
Excellent hidden gem! Great cocktails with table service. Popcorn was fab with a chilli oil. Loved the birdcage cocktail and the Maverick and Goose.
R. P. V.
First time here and loved the décor, friendly staff, and their concept in general. Drinks were also good and they have a quirky selection of cocktails. Cannot wait to come back.
M. M.
Amazing experience! you wouldn't know without walking past; Amazing cocktails and service!
G. J.
I met some friends in here for an after work drink, and pretty much fell in love from the moment I opened the door slash bookcase.
We’d managed to nab a small table, but I’d suggest reserving one – by 6pm on a Friday it was full and we would have struggled to squish in otherwise. After being presented with a drinks list which baffled me (cocktails are categorised by the bartender who created them, rather than the spirit base or style) I panicked and ordered a classic Aviation which wasn’t on the menu – no confused face from the waitress, she knew her stuff. Or at least she knew that the bar staff did. They did – it was perfect. My friend isn’t a drinker and asked if they’d do her a mocktail, again, happily provided. The soft drinks list includes rather lovely Fentimans offerings, which is always a nice change from a slightly flat cola if you’re the designated driver.
Loved it. Perfect for drinks with friends, but would be great for a date night.
M. F.
Great little bar, don't be fooled it's not a barber's shop! Cocktails were amazing, and table service good. Highly recommended.
P. B.
Great place to visit, fantastic atmosphere friendly staff. Will definitely re-visit.
S. B.
Nice setting with delicious cocktails. Nothing beats their popcorn and pork crackling
N. S.
Nice cocktails with a good atmosphere
A.
Very nice place. Very private and personal. Strange cocktails
P. H.
Great pub for anyone looking a fun, relaxed atmosphere. Drink prices were average and loved the unique theme. Must visit if staying in Edinburgh for a couple nights
f. r.
Cozy, underground (literally) and trendy. Staff were cool and welcoming. Cocktails are pretty unique, with a menu that has the heart of the bar at its core!
E. T.
"Hidden" as a barber shop, this is a cracking cocktail bar! Good selection with nicely categorised menu, easy to spend hours here trying new cocktails and working your way through the menu!
A. R.
Be confident on approach to this bar as you have to walk through a bookshelf to enter, once your in, it's a lads pad with a homely touch and free popcorn...what more do you want! The cocktails are a tad pricy but worth it as there not your average cocktail with added Panda and sons twists.
S. C.
From walking in through the "hidden" doorway to the bar Panda and Sons immediately creates an experience. I loved the nods to this being hidden in a barber shop like tealights in hair wax tins and the menus, though some drinks were a bit hard to find in it.
The atmosphere is great with a mixture of booths and tables, and the place was buzzy for a Friday evening post work. I am keen to go back again to try the food platters and work my way through more of the cocktail menu too.
M. M.
Cozy & classy bar with great ambience at reasonable prices, the bar is candlelit and intimate. Ideal for a romantic date or small groups. The entrance from the street is like an old time barber shop which adds an element of surprise when you enter the bar.
W. J.
Panda & Sons could be painted with the 'too cool for school' and 'style over substance' brush however this drinking establishment is truly top notch. The drinks are all reasonably priced with an array of cocktails, draught and bottled beers to choose from matched with incredible service and a comfortable and familiar atmosphere you cannot look any further than Panda & Sons to spend your evenings with.
J. v. z.
Hidden away bar posing as a hair salon. When you walk down you go through a bookcase and you are in. The waiters are cool, the menu is like a story book. Loved it.
A. T.
A fun speakeasy bar with a great atmosphere, a great staff and some free popcorn! However, the drinks were not as good as I had hoped.
K. P.
Very unusual setting from the exterior but had a great passage to the main hall which is designed to look very discreet. The selection of spirits is quite good and is good to get friends.
N. M.
Hidden gem. Good selection of strong cocktails. Attention to detail is awesome. Go here if you want to feel like you're in a prohibition era speakeasy.
E. A.
Loved it here! We don't have anything like this at home so was good fun going through a bookcase! Delish cocktails and prompt friendly service!
A. T.
Querky place set up to imitate a prohibition era speakeasy. Vast range of cocktails. Good service and if it's not on the cocktail menu ask for it to be made.
E. O.
What a gem! I was worried that as a "speakeasy"-style bar it'd be more on the pretentious side, but staff were welcoming and friendly and drinks were delicious and fancy (and not too pricey for what they were). I'm sure it fills up on weekends but on the weeknight it was a lovely, chill place to hang out.
J. G.
Cool little underground speakeasy. Impress your friends and dates with this hidden gem, masquerading as a barber shop with a bouncer. They'll be too charmed by the novelty and jazzy decor to mind the price.
J. m. o. T. d. s.
For us due to the recent trying times it lost its niche feel
Drinks maybe on the beer side need to be a little more varied.
Still got 4 star but imagine it could've got 5
S. B.
I've been to Panda and Sons a number of times and it's always amazing. The staff can talk you through their cool menu or they can make something classic with no problems at all. Their DJs at a weekend are really great too!
R. B.
A relaxed bar with knowledgeable bar staff. The cheese board is a must.
F. C.
Been there twice. Good selection of gins. Not overly pretentious like so many bars in Edinburgh. Also good selection of craft beers. And quiet.
D. O.
What I thought to be a quiet and quirky bar ended up being just like many other in the area, but far more expensive. They pump the music up and give you chilli (and very stale) pop corn which seems to be recycled from other tables just to make you more thirsty.
M. R.
Hidden gem. Best ever cocktails ❤️. Just too good! Interestingly preserved prohibition time ambience. Lovely staff.
J. H.
Interesting drinks and fun atmosphere. The best drinks were the most unusual ones because the bartenders really know how mix ingredients.
L. W.
Quite liked it - the unsignposted entrance and decor is well chosen and fun. Arriving for the table we had booked, the floor was covered in trodden popcorn. When I asked politely if it could be swept, the response was less than pleasant - an impatient and unsmiling 'give me a minute' - and really soured my initial and lasting impression. When it was swept, it wasn't done thoroughly. Get rid of the popcorn, or keep the floor clean.
The drinks were ok. The smoke filled bell jar of the birdcage cocktail was good fun, but I can't say the flavour or quality of anything I ordered (5 different cocktails) was particularly excellent, and everything arrived suspiciously quickly to have been made fresh - not quite what I want from drinks priced at £7-8.The waitress attending our table was quick to take orders and refill water glasses, which I appreciate.
S. J.
Awesome speak easy style cocktail bar. Apart from the louder than normal music, everything is perfect. Awesome cocktails and ambiance. Do definitely try the bridge cage cocktail
D. C.
Always fantastic, amazing drinks, amazing setting, amazing staff.
S. E.
What a find. A gin cocktaill bar behind a bookcase below a 'barbers shop'
T. C.
Cute cozy cocktail bar. Great for a date night or a group of friends. Very unique cocktails with bartenders that are very helpful when you don't know what you want
C. O.
Truly an amazing experience. Well crafted cocktails and a great atmosphere. This is a must go to if you're in Edinburgh!
M. S.
Try the Red Panda, it is likely the best take on a Bloody Mary I have ever had. Great atmosphere, informative/friendly staff, and delicious drinks. Tell Leon he's a legend.
C. N.
Fantastic speakeasy style bar hidden away as a barber shop! Brilliant service and brilliant theatre on the cocktails. Do not miss out. Visit this bar.
D.
Quirky place with lots of cocktails to choose from! It's a hidden gem of Edinburgh. I really enjoyed my visit.
K. H.
Panda & Sons is a new gem hidden away at the end of Queens Street. Not obviously a bar, it looks like an old fashioned barber shop from the outside, but if you venture down the stairs you'll find a stylish and quirky bar with a confusing but delicious cocktail menu and really good service. Look out for the new hairstyles in the bathroom too!
K. H.
LOVE it. Always. Mega spot - for an impressing-date/ chilled-drink/ family-catch-up. Beautiful place and charming and dapper bar men. Woof!
T. W.
Panda and sons specialises in cocktails but you can also grab a beer here if you fancy. Table service with friendly staff. Good atmosphere.
B. H.
Cracking cocktail joint with an extensive, well crafted menu.
N. S.
Lovely evening our waitress Rose was AWESOME she already knows the cocktail list after 1week of service ! Incredible. Go for it !!
G.
This place has a great atmosphere and service yoy don't expect. It feels classic and quirky without the added pretention and great cocktails. Usually lovely and quiet for great chat.
G. P.
Really good atmosphere! Wonderful drinks
E. P.
Excellent cocktail bar, with a nice theme throughout. Very trendy with a excellent vibe and dj.
Not the most disguised speakeasy however.
L. S.
Excellent drinks and the staff was super nice.
O. P.
Amazing drinking, outstanding drinks and staff that genuinely care about your experience! Would have given it 10/10 but Google only allows a maximum of 5 stars 🤷🏻♂️
S. G.
Amazing atmosphere, drinks were lovely and the staff were really nice and helpful. Will be coming again when we visit Edinburgh again.
J. B.
Not just cocktails.
Liquid art.
This place has panache. There's craft in their cocktails and presentation.
Book to avoid disappointment.
This place is amazing.
M. S.
Good atmosphere. Friendly, knowledgeable staff and table service was great with free popcorn for the tables that was topped up frequently.
Guy on the door was great too.
E. M.
Cool and interesting bar - you enter through a 'barbers shop', speakeasy style. Some really interesting (and yummy!) cocktails on offer.
D. C.
Some of the best cocktails I've ever had, great service, a great atmosphere and a singularly adorable theme.
E. B.
Absolutely outstanding service and a secret bookcase entrance makes this amazing bar the best place to drink in Edinburgh, there is simply no competition
D. T.
Very nice secret bar. Lovely creative drinks
G. W.
Excellent experience, make sure and book as if not you may be turned away as this place is very popular. Luckily we did and had superb evening.
B. B.
It's an experience, the staff where lovely, the drinks not so much, and they where also really expensive.
Maybe my expectations where too high. Just a disappointing experience tbh
S. S.
Lovely little snug cocktail bar. Really relaxed atmosphere. Lovely choice of cocktails. Nice for a wee treat.
T. N.
Hidden Gem. Pre book if you are a big group. Gets very busy at the weekends. Drinks were delicious, and served to your table.
T. M.
Make sure to make you're way to Panda & Sons for a cocktail or two. Hidden behind a quaint barber shop façade, you'll feel like walking into a hidden speak easy behind the bookcase.
N. G.
Awesome atmosphere. Quirky knowledgeable staff . Brilliant interior design . Mix that with absolutely tasty as they come cocktails and it's a winner !!!
A. G.
A quirky speakeasy bar, serving tasty delicious cocktails. Extremely attentive and friendly table service.

G. S.
Amazing cocktails (delicious and cleverly presented). Amazing experience. Go here. It's so worth it.
M. v.
a literal speakeasy treasure. barber shop facade on the outside, cocktail paradise on the inside. very decent tunes playing and friendly staff. best wee surprise on Queen Street.
T. M.
This place is brilliant, the cocktails are an experience and the atmosphere is a nice one. Definitely worth a visit!
R. J.
Really quirky bar hiding behind the facade of a old-fashioned barber shop. Interesting architecture and decor coupled with bizarre drinks make it definitely worth a visit.
R. B.
Expensive but worth it for one or two. The baskets the popcorn came in (free) where greasy with dust attached. They should clean them more often. Other than that, amazing.
S. D.
Excellent bar with fantastic cocktails and really attentive staff. Great atmosphere and vibe, would definitely recommend!
D. C.
Amazing atmosphere great cocktails.
S. R.
Awesome spot, a hidden gem. Excellent beer and cocktail selection, super hip but relaxed atmosphere, and free popcorn, which is regularly refilled!
E. S.
Cool, authentic and quiet place with a great range of cocktails. The door is the best door in Edinburgh. A must.
T. J.
Tucked away in the New Town, under the guise of a barber shop, Panda & Sons is unarguably cool. And they serve drinks in bell jars full of rosemary smoke. Definitely one to visit.
L. P.
It looks like a Barbers shop but it is not! It is an awesome cocktail bar, a bit dark with a great atmosphere. They have really nice cocktails 👍
M. A.
Best service we've had at any bar in the city. Staff couldn't be more helpful and cocktails great as well
C. V.
Amazing, absolutely 💯

Great original cocktails. Friendly staff. One of the best places to drink in Edinburgh.
M. d. J.
Fantastic cocktails in a amazing atmosphere. Absolutely one of Edinburgh's most "must visit" places.

Decent staff, cool atmosphere, good place, drinks aren't great and are expensive, staff seem stressed but still worth checking it out.

Great cocktails. Amazing presentation. Menu worth reading from end to end. Lovely team. Cheers!

Completely bizarre place. The cocktails are that strong, that after having one and going home you're not sure if that ever happened. Love it.
J. W.
Great hidden bar, great selection of quirky cocktails and local ales.
Glass of water and popcorn while you order too.
D. T.
Great decor, friendly and helpful staff, great selection of cocktails. I'll definitely be back.
A. M.
I loved live music on Friday night and closed booths. You also may play games or read books available on shelfs. Highly recommended.
