Used a voucher for cocktails and nachos. Went just after opening at 4.30 pm. We were alone but the bar was being set up for a themed beach party.The music was 70s so we enjoyed the nostalgia as well as the lovely cocktails .The staff were friendly and attentive.

Nice atmosphere and quirky decor makes it a really fun place to have hang out. We bought the Groupon promotion that serves cocktails and nachos. Friendly service staff and the drinks is well presented and very nice. They also run promotions for students and members! Would recommend visiting if around Cowgate area!

After being in tonight as a first time customer i must say that this place truly surprised me beyond what i had expected. I found the prices to be really good for Edinburgh. The staff all seemed to go out of their way to do everything possible to make sure i had a great experience. I thought the whole atmosphere was great loved the burger i had and really enjoyed myself. I would highly recommend this bar to everyone the staff where amazing and i have to say i will become a regular in this bar happily. Everyone should come to this amazing bar and have a great time. Visited on the 24th October, really nice looking venue with a good positive atmosphere. We took advantage of a Groupon offer of cocktails which were great. The bar was quiet when we visited, and we found the staff to be attentive and very helpful. Would recommend a visit!

The drinks were pretty decent, though thus felt like an awkward mix between club and pub.. There was no real dance floor and we were seated at a table yet they were playing nonstop dance music at an insane volume. Very strange experience! Drinks also took ages to get to us and several times we struggled to get the attention of staff to make our orders.

Quite a cool place to drop in for a local pub experience. Seats are unique though a bit old. Cocktails are fine, not the better ones though. The nachos come served with just melted hot cheese which makes it nice to begin with.

The staff were lovely and attentive. Problems It was very over crowded to the point even when sat down you couldn't move, the stools and tables were wobbly, the toilets were very very run down some of them not flushing and just appeared dirty(don't think this was actually the case it just appeared that way due to ageing) the outside also looked very rundown. The bar its slef was very funky and modern. So very mixed hence the 3 star review.

Quite a good bar/pub to visit with friends. Enjoyed the atmosphere, music and cheap drinks. Staff are friendly and attentive and it’s always been easy to get a table. The pub quiz on a Sunday is great fun with a bar tab as the prize. The food is good in general, and again reasonably priced. However the fries are weirdly expensive and quite poor quality. Not sure what happened there!

Very nice Bar to have one or two Beer or ten. Enough plase for large groups to stand and even get a seat with a little luck. Staff is friendly and fast. The decoration for halloween was also really cool. Only 4 stars because you can order steins but get a plastic mug. If you sell steins then serve them in real steins, because every time is steintime!

I'd still go back despite three stars. The cocktails are great and super cheap, but the staff were slow and little rude, meaning I ended up carrying a bunch of martinis over to my table to help get our drinks sooner. Seating is comfortable if you get a sofa, dire if you don't. My back hurts thinking about those stools still.

Very aesthetically pleasing venue, nicely decorated, and friendly bar staff and bouncer the night I was there wih a pub crawl. A bit pricey but nothing out of what is ordinary in the area, and they have a great variety of drinks on the menu to suit everyone's taste. However, the space is small and there is not that much room spare to dance, so great to begin your night with, to have a couple of nice cocktails, but not so much for dancing (Three Sisters or Stramash in the area are more spacious for instance)

Definitely recommend for their quiz nights every Tuesday. It's usually themed and packed but also a ton of fun. Make sure to book in advance at least two weeks for the more popular ones or you definitely won't get a spot. The drinks are mid range £4-£5 and the food is pretty decent. Also mid price. Definitely a bar to check out of you're near cowgate at the beginning of your night

I love this pub, it has got very interesting food menu and the Chef is fantastic. good atmosphere and they have got good selection of drinks. the staff are very welcoming and attentive to peoples needs. On a busy day, I recommend booking a table well in advance as it gets so buys and the place is not very blessed with space. the good thing is that on a good weather day, there are some extra sits outside in front of the pub

The bar looks lovely (loads of space, wood panelling, interesting lights and quirky features), but sometimes feels a bit soulless - possibly because it's quite big it often feels empty! Still, every time I've gone I knew I could get a seat, and they have a lovely range of beers on tap.

We use this place for our university sport socials, they have been good to sponsor us for the last few years. Pilgrim is very quirky/edgy and has some great aesthetics, the service is normally good and most of the time there is a good atmosphere with lots of people. The prices are a bit steep however they do offer student discounts and the food and drink they provide is good quality. They live music is good, sometimes a bit too loud when you just want to have a conversation with someone!

Good little bar, love how the bar is styled. It is made up from suitcases and unlike anything else i have ever seen. They have a good selection of other wacky designs from the interesting seats to the huge tables. Entertainment is varied, they offer a quiz and a wide range of live music. And they also show a variety of sport. It is a bar but they do a mean stromboli so if you get the munches or feel yourself starting to get tipsy maybe grab one of these to see you through.

Pilgrim is good! It feels a little like a hotel or airport restaurant in that you have to pay as you order (as least there was no tab option for me). And it has a theme - travel and wandering. And it is solid. Good burgers and dogs. Decent ale selection (don't expect more than a couple of "craft" selections). And friendly service. Dining alone in Edinburgh is not as easy as it is in my home of Manhattan. But you can comfortably dine alone at Pilgrim. This is a nice backup if Brewdog is too crowded (which it usually is).

We are not from Edinburgh so will have to make a seperate trip to use 2nd voucher. Be aware of this before you go so you won't be disappointed No really sure what difference it makes to Pilgrim Bar when the vouchers were redeemed, that's my only negative point.

My go-to place for a drink with friends or a date. Serves beers, spirits, cocktails and food plus runs fun events (kareoke, quizzes, dj's) in a quirky environment. The bar is made of old suitcases whilst you sit and relax in old cinema seats or a couch made of denim jeans. Great central location in Edinburgh so worth a visit, even if it is to grab a few photos of the place.

The decor is funky, old theatre seats along one wall, bench seating along another, with tall bar stools along the window. The bar is a wall of stacked antique suitcases. There is a small selection of craft beers with Innis & Gunn on tap along with their own Pilgrim Lager which was sold to me as 'similar to Tennents'.. (not exactly a great selling point IMO). I was promptly offered a taste and although it's inoffensive, wouldn't be my first choice. The menu is small with chilli con carne, lasagna, cottage pie, nachos and a couple of other options on offer, prices are very reasonable at around £6 each. Portions are ok and the food is more akin to home cooking than what I've gotten used to for 'pub food'. I polished off my cottage pie without trouble and definitely had room for dessert (which they don't have). Very much geared towards a student clientèle, it's not somewhere I'll be rushing back to although I can't fault my visit at all.
