Reviews of Royal Mile Tavern

Took my sister and the kids today, the food was delicious 😋 and the staff were so friendly. The rugby was on and the atmosphere was really good 👍 kids had their flags cheering along with the crowd 👍 definitely recommend this place and will be back. X
A. N.
Came in to try the deep-friend mars bar and it didn’t not disappoint! It’s one of the best desserts I’ve had in a long time and the serving was amazing. Would definitely recommend!
K. C.
We didn't take photos of the starters but rest assured they were also delicious. The staff were beyond friendly and the atmosphere is welcoming and warm. Best lunch in Edinburgh so far!
Highly reccomend

Very nice environment with joyous people and live music. The staff are all polite and friendly. We enjoyed our drinks very much. We didn't have a chance to try the food, definitely next time
L. C.
Absolutely fantastic. Traditional Scottish food, we even tried haggis (freshly caught, haha). Wait staff was very helpful and friendly.
Food we ordered: Haggis, neeps, and tatties...bangers and mash...pie of the day.
H. Y. D.
We had a Beginner Whiskey flight and the world's famous deep fried Mars bar and were not disappointed! It was very delicious and chocolaty (Kind of comparable to a Nutella Crepe). Loved that they added the tiny fruits to make us feel better about the deadly calories!
D. S.
Really lovely traditional pub in a great location. Staff are friendly and they manage the COVID-19 restrictions really well.
Love the high tables and mirrors, with the live music being an added attraction in the evenings. The few outside tables are great for people watching. Definitely worth a visit.

Cool little pub in the heart of the Royal Mile. We got lucky with finding a table and didn't have to wait too long as it did stay busy the entire time we were there. Great service, decent selection of drinks, and standard pub food. Haggis hotdog was very unique and provided a cool way to try the local dish.

Located on the historical Royal Mile in the heart of Edinburgh's Old town, the Royal Mile Tavern is a traditional Scottish pub full of charm and charisma.
They serve delicious Scottish fare with an epic whisky list, real ales and live music every night.
When I went there the staff was very prompt and the food was delicious.
I highly recommend the Haggis Bon Bons (£5.95) and the Haggis Neeps & Tatties (£10.95).
m. k.
Great old pub on the royal mile. Great charicter and the old wooden/stone design makes it appealing. Food looked great especially the Haggis and Drambuie saurce
A. M.
Food was superb and portion size was unreal, our waitress Wendy was so diligent and helpful, can't rate them any higher than 5.
Was great that we could bring dog.
C.
This was the best pub we went to in Edinburgh. Lovely atmosphere and the food was incredible. My burger was some of the best pub grub I have ever eaten.
C. L.
I cannot praise this place enough!! The food was outstanding and highly exceeded my expectations. I had Scottish IPA, Haggis bons (gotta try the Scottish National dish), Halloumi fries and deep-fried Mars bars for dessert. Seriously so, so good!
The staff was super friendly and accommodating in helping me choose food and drinks.
10/10 would highly recommend!!
J. D.
Amazing food, affordable and waiting staff is really nice!!

There are many options on the Royal Mile - we picked this one for its warm and friendly vibe.
We only stopped for a few drinks, however, found the place to be charming and the staff friendly and easy going.
As we were leaving they were setting up for some live music, which we are sad to have missed.
D. M.
Had fantastic lunch here with family. Well done to Chef food excellent and prices i thought cheap for such great food which was also well presented. The staff all friendly and helpful especially as we had toddler and baby with us and staff treated us so well.
Will be recommending this place to friends and family.

We've just had a wonderful meal at The Royal Mile Tavern. Went in for a Guinness on St Patricks day as they looked welcoming with their St Patrick's decorations outside. We received a very warm welcome from a lovely lady who served us our drinks & food, she couldn't do enough for us & was so friendly. We ordered the Irish stew pie for my hubby & I had the pan fried salmon... It turned out to be one of the best pub lunches we've had. The price was very reasonable for the quality of food we got. So tasty, good portions, very well cooked & presented. You can tell the staff/chefs are proud of what they do and give fantastic service. Thanks, we hope to come back soon.
A. F.
If you find yourself hungry after visiting the castle or just wandering through the Royal Mile, the Royal Mile is a great place for lunch, the staff are polite and helpful, the food warms your stomach and soul and with very reasonable prices considering its a tourist hotspot. Highly recommended
G. C.
A good place to dine in Edinburgh, their staff was so kind and helpful. I really like their halloumi with corn relish! Cant get enough of it!!
O. B.
They have very delicious deep fried Mars bars, beautifully presented. Very friendly staff and atmosphere. A must when you visit Edinburgh ❤
L. H.
The baked Brie and spicy tomato chutney was delicious. We had stopped in for a couple of pints the day before and decided to come back. Loved the atmosphere & the pints ! Was able to try a taste of an obscure (to me) beer and found it wouldn’t have suited me very well. Was very pleased with Innis & Gunn.
Cheers ! From northern New York, United States
A. P.
I ordered the Tav Burger and it was delicious. The haggis just under the bun is great addition to an already tasty burger. The onion rings were just right. Chips could have been better, but then again, skin-on, fat non-crispy chips just aren't really my favourite type. Amazingly this place really delivers on the hype for their deep fried Mars bars! You get two, so after a burger, it's better if you can split this dessert with someone as it's obviously very sweet and filling.
Service was great and I really enjoyed walking around and seeing all the old Edinburgh paintings and photos and learning about some famous Scotsmen.
G.
The best deep fried Mars bars in Edinburgh, staff really welcoming. Would recommend you go and try it 😉
A. D.
Beautiful pub. Staff is friendly. Food is real good. Tried haggis. It was amazing. They do deep fried mars bars too 😂
M. R.
Friendly staff, fair prices, and tasty food - the pan fried salmon was exceptional!
f.
Great place right on High street (royal mile). Serves up decent pub fare at reasonable prices. The ambiance and staff are what sets this place apart from other pubs on high street. 8 min walk from Waverly Station.
J. S.
During a few days staying in Edinburgh, called here most nights for a decent pint of cask 🍺The pub is a traditional boozer, with friendly staff, well worth a visit 👍🏻
E. &. T. D. T.
Lovely place.. food great, big selection of drinks, staff very welcoming and friendly.. kids made to feel very welcome lovely alternative to the big chains located near by. Give it a try 👍🏻
A. M.
Great night, with food and drink with 2 guys singing, fantastic time here
I. S.
We went to this traditional pub for a drink after dinner. One of the very few places that is not closed after 11pm. Self-service after dinner-time, high quality whiskey and live music!
G. T.
Lovely food with friendly staff, would definitely go here again.
R. S.
Beautiful, very welcoming, staff couldn't do enough.
B. A.
brilliant food, staff, drink and lovely atmosphere. Good portions for the price and food was delicious! Shout out to Jemma, she's always so lovely<3
J. H.
Just the place to go for a relaxing beer and a bite after seeing the Ray Harryhausen exhibit. Friendly staff and prompt service.
c. h.
Outstanding venue!! Staff are all very friendly & welcoming with a clearly well trained knowledge of products on offer & in depth menu knowledge.
Lovely menu with a vast selection of dishes ranging from traditional fish & chips/haggis neeps & tatties to burgers or hotdogs to pan fried salmon with quirky additions such as haggis Taco's or pork & chorizo scotch egg.
The public space has ample seating & boasts fabulous artwork throughout, the bar offers a simply huge variety of whisky, draught lagers, real ales & an abundance of other drinks, you simply can't not find your tipple here!!
I would highly recommend this venue for any occasion, the food is fabulous, the staff are some of the best I've envountered & the overall ambience of the bar was second to none... The live music every night @ 21.00 is always top class also. 100 % a place to try!!
J. S.
We popped in for the live music at 10pm, the blonde lady behind the bar (think she may have been a manager) got our group a great table. Music was fantastic. Many pints were sunk and lots of songs sung.
Not sure of the bouncers name, shaved head and a beard.. He was also really friendly and had a good laugh with us and made our night, top bloke.
Brilliant night out!
c. m.
Great food at decent prices. Highly recommended
S. H.
Great atmosphere friendly staff. Great food

Stopped in before a film at the Omni. Pleasant surprise.
Started with the chips and haggis with whisky sauce. Quite good. The haggis was creamy and peppery, but the whisky sauce (really, whisky gravy) was the star of the show. One of the better gravies I’ve had.
My wife ordered the veggie soup, which was quite good as well.
Main was lamb liver with black pudding and mash. All of the elements were really enjoyable, but they cooked the liver too long. It was a bit tough and dry. If it had been cooked cooked correctly, this dish would have been spectacular.
Finished with the banoffee pie. Good.
a.
Delicious lunch service was a bit slow although the staff were nice.
B. A.

Stopped by randomly for dinner on our last evening in town. It was pretty busy. We were told the table won't be ready for 30 mins and suggested to get a drink at the bar while waiting. The bar tender was very attentive when we asked about local beers & made the suggestions. The table was ready in about 15 mins. The food was delicious! The waitress was very attentive and friendly. Overall a very good and pleasant experience. Thank you.
M.
Great place! Staff members are very kind and attentive.
Food is delicious!
Dishes are full of food and they are well presented.
Fried Mars is top!
S. B.
Very busy bar on the Royal Mile. Great atmosphere and decor. The night I visited was the night before the Scotland v Italy rugby game, so a varied crowd with many Italians and rugby types.. students and travellers also.
K. H.
The best pub grub I’ve ever eaten, the beef in the pie was succulent, and cooked to perfection you could just put your fork through it, lovely food, the husband said the beef burger wasn’t fatty and had fantastic flavour, good friendly service and great variety of drinks to choose from. Lovely pub.

Dog friendly pub with nice ambience and warm, cheerful staff who are knowledgeable about the beers/guest ales. Stayed a couple of times for drinks and chips (which were sensational). Highly recommended.

My girlfriend and I came here twice during our trip. We couldn’t get enough the first time. The food is fantastic! They have so many good options on the menu it’s almost impossible to choose. They also have a nice beer list and a great atmosphere. Easily located on the royal Mile, you can’t miss it.
c.
Really good food and big portions, the platting is also nice :) it a little bit more expensive but worth it
R. T.

Great little pub, staff and really friendly and look happy to work there, nice atmosphere and a good selection of beers and ales, not to mention spirits 👌. Bangers and mash with Yorkshire pudding was on point! One of us ordered this and it was so good the other 4 of us ordered the same and we all loved it.
J. M.

S. M.
Food was amazing as was the service x
M. C.
Atmosphere is great such a Scottish cliché for French. The could find us both a tiny place even if room was booked for a big group. Food was really.. REALLY good and portion quite generous, our first haggis was a success. Service has been fast as well which is always good when you are in a hurry. Value for money is pretty good. 1 starter 2 mains for £27.
M. L.
Great range of beer and whisky. Food was also delicious.
The waitresses are very knowledgeable and are very happy to suggest meal pairings.
L. J.
I can't fault the staff here, they were really friendly especially as we were a very loud table. Great location and live music. Very surprised to see there was not even 1 vegan option on the menu. I was told that even the chips weren't so that was a shame. At least there was plenty of alcohol!
W. M.
Amazing food at a reasonable price. Staff were super friendly and accommodating. The deep fried Mars bar is a must try!
A.
You can shop till u drop here & lots of great Pubs & eateries. Just don’t stay over in heart , stay one block or two away . Much quieter at night. Unless u like to’ parte

If it’s good enough for Mary Queen of Scots... I
treated the “wee wummin” to a refreshing gin and tonic on the way home and slaik’d my thirst with a perfectly poured pint of Caledonia Best... then it’s good enough for John Knox.
Let’s just say they have an eclectic crowd.
There were three lads fishing in one corner who appeared to be using chips and peas for bait... big portions, freshly cooked. Next time I’ll bring my appetite and my thirst. Adjacent was the prerequisite intellectual reading his book. No doubt the poems of Robert Ferguson. Mum, Dad and three well behaved kids were having a family affair at the table next, sans iPhones, I am pleased to report. A grey bearded local was perched next to us on a high stool doubtless longing for the day when he can belly up to the bar and listen to the live music once again. We’ll be right there with him. In the interim the bar staff are doing their utmost to serve their patrons in a friendly though somewhat muted atmosphere limited by govt. regs.
Many bars are yet to open. Support the ones who are and look forward to the not too distant future when the Public House is once again the Free House we know and cherish.
Two thumbs up for the ROYAL MILE TAVERN!
A. Y.
We were regulars here throughout the pandemic, as it was spacious, well ventilated and excellent food along with excellent table service. On Saturday night it was very busy, with a lot of people standing around and bar service. For us didn't feel safe. It's a great pub and I just hope they can get the ballance right as they come out of the pandemic.
H. A.
Best traditional Scottish plates... reasonable prices... huge portions... limited seating places
S. P.

A traditional style pub with a really nice atmosphere, friendly staff, and a wide range to choose from. We enjoyed a night of live music and whiskey, at a very reasonable price for a pub in such a prime location. We’ll be back next time we’re in Edinburgh.

Great location, your typical local pub. Good atmosphere. The food menu had good variety. I had the Mac and cheese, tasted amazing good size portion and really tasty, other half had bangers and mash and was again tasty and good size. The highlight though... the battered mars bar.. When in Edinburgh you must try 👍👌

We had our Xmas dinner and drinks here. All enjoyed it. A friend ordered a cider and was served a pint, but wanted a bottle. Exchanged with a smile and no challenge. Good choice of food and drinks. Good service and atmosphere too.
K. M.
We went there two times and we can totally recommend! Food, drinks and service its great!
A. C.
Gorgeous interior, great service, tasty beers and eats.... the sampler is highly recommended
R. P.
Best deep fried mars bar ever!
G. F.
Food is great and good price service was quick and friendly too
E. M.
Lovely place, lovely staff, delicious food!
M. F.
Nice place for traditional Edinburgh pub food, we were seated upstairs and the service here was amazing, very helpful and patient waitress made us feel really welcome. We had the haggis tower which was our first time trying it, the haggis itself was pretty good but the highlight of the meal was the deep fried Mars bars! You must try this if nothing else.
D. B.
Quick and friendly service good food
S. S.
Was great experience learnt a lot and views amazing 👍
P. H.
Wonderful service and Excellent live music from John McIntyre
C. O.
Good food and we felt we had to try the popular Scottish delicacy Deep Fried Mars Bar...very friendly staff and fair prices...well worth a visit
M. C.
This was one of my favorite restaurants/taverns in Scotland. We always found a seat and always got drink and food quickly with a very hospitible host.
D. S.
The price of breakfast for 2 wasn't to hard on the wallet. So you do get your money's worth
m. h.
Apparently a chain pub. Good food, and docent all around.
P. S.
Not the best food in the world, everything a bit on the overdone side
M. B.
Great fish and chips, and beer. And excellent scotch list.
N. B.
I would love to eat the haggis here every time I visit Edinburgh.
T. L.
Delicious affordable food with fantastic service
A. A.
Great food, ale and atmosphere.
A. H.
Great place to try haggis for the first time. Like most, I had a few reservations about trying haggis for the first time. I heard only good things about haggis at The Royal Mile Tavern so I gave it a try. I ordered the haggis, needs and 'tatties' and certainly was not disappointed by my experience. I ended up eating the whole plate! I strongly recommend this place if you are looking to get an easy introduction to good and tasty haggis in Scotland.
J. W.
First meal in Scotland and it leave us a deep impression! Delicious food and great service. But the haggis is not something everyone can appreciate. I love the soup and pan fried fish.
S. E. E.
Great service and nice atmosphere! Visited this tavern a few weeks ago with friends. We originally came for a pint but when we saw the food we decided to try some. We shared a 'pie of the week' which was an awesome chicken and veg pie and also a mac and cheese which was ultimately amazing and ideal comfort food on a cold evening.
We were served by 2 lovely people an Australian guy and a Spanish girl from Madrid. They were both really helpful and friendly and there seems to be a great atmosphere between the staff which is so important! Will be back again!
L. v. O.
Friendly staff (thanks Rachel), great food, quick service, fantastic drinks - can't complain at all!
A. Z.
Good wine and good beer, also lively music performance, love it!
C. G.
Great beer, (reliably informed) fabulous food.
S. M.
This is a great place for food and drink. The haggis and haggis bites were both very good.
s. 1. (.
Amazing staff and amazing haggis. Brilliant pub, I highly recommend!
J. D.
Visited here on a whim on Monday, and the food and staff were lovely. Rachel and Euan/Ewan done a fantastic job particularly
A. H.
Very lovely old pub. The staff was really friendly and transmitted a great deal of warmth despite having to serve during these times of face covering. It's a pity that music wasn't allowed under new measures against covid.
A. R.
The atmosphere was very cozy as you get that feeling of a traditional Scottish restaurant.
Special credits to Cat who was an absolute star in terms of service!
H. N.
Excellent food and a wide range of whiskies. Try the haggis, naps, and tatties meal !
P. B.
Friendly staff. Good cask beer
C. S.
Absolutely outstanding pub. The staff made us feel welcome from the get go and couldn't do anything more to make our stay more pleasant. I felt like I was a regular at the pub, rather than a tourist that had been there for 2 days.
Couldn't recommend this place anymore than the 5* that's I've given. Keep up the good work guys, and I'll see you soon enough. X
R. B.
Nice atmosphere, great seletion of beer. Friendly and helpful staff
H. P.
Friendly Staff, Live Music and the perfect stop in Edinburgh for a few drinks.
G. H.
Loved the friendly atmosphere, and great food and staff service
S. S.
Deep fried mars bar was good. We also ordered a seasonal risotto - a very small portion, not well done - definitely not worth the price. The service was slow and not very friendly. My friend's drink order came after my main dish. Will not go back.
P. O.
Good spot.Great choice of beers.Staff on the ball.
D. V.
Typical 'Royal Mile' pub with often live music, pretty decent as well. Great atmosphere with some dancing, mix of all ages and locals with (mostly) tourists. Great selection of whisky's and spirits, good beers and fair prices for Edinburgh. Not the best place in town, but definitely not the worst either. Can get crowded on weekend evenings, as almost every place on the Royal Mile.
B. G.
Typical Edinburgh pub but we also had an excellent meal. I had one of the best haggis dishes ever and the wife had fish & chips. Both we better than expected preparations for a pub setting. Service was prompt and friendly as well. Obviously from the name, this tavern is located on the Royal Mile and is close to all the main Edinburgh Old Town attractions. Highly recommend!
M. W.
Excellent atmosphere. And service. Good burger and chips.
J. M.
Great bar good food and later live music brilliant.
M. E.
Only had drinks. Pretty expensive.
D.
Nice ambient, definitely the image of a tavern. Only stayed a small time but tried a most decadent Deep fried Mars Bar. With some friends' help, who also ate lunch there. It is their reviews that bring it down to 3 stars, salmon being bland and a burger quite greasy, moreso than it should be.
However if its for a pint it seemed like a good place.
R. S.
Brilliant tavern in the heart of Edinburgh. We went here randomly on our last night in Ediburgh and we were pleasantly suprised. We highly recommend the food, especially the burgers and the battered mars bars with ice cream! The staff were also really polite and helpful. I would definitely recommend anyone check it out.
M. A. A.
Just like any other pub.
Food was good and they have many options.
A. L.
Right place on the right way. They offer food and drinks in Scottish style: lovely.
J. T.
Good service and comfortable surroundings. Food looked nice beer was great.
H. D.
Great pub
Takes dogs and toddlers, which is harder to find than you would think.
Great food. Haggis is huge!
Cheese sandwich for the toddler was toasted and very tasty!
They brought water for the dog without asking too.
Looks a little iffy from outside but was excellent.
Oh And they have a good beer selection too.
N. S.
I have been here on two occasions and the traditional music was excellent. The only issue is the size. The main room is always way overcrowded and uncomfortable but when the downstairs is open it is much better and much more enjoyable. The staff is also friendly and helpful.
A. P.
Amazing place! The atmosphere is absolutely characteristic and warm. Staff is very caring and nice and food is great. Priced too are honest! A place to go back and that I would recommend with no doubts
m. m.
We spent Christmas night here. Serving food all day and a really good band on in the evening. This is a great traditional Scottish pub in the heart of Edinburgh. Great staff and friendly atmosphere.
I. S.
Tasty food. Supportive staff. Actual pub is pub pub... Certainly coming back
K. B.
Food service selection you name it! Surprisingly large portions for prices. Great experience! I recommend the highland chicken. First time ever eating haggis. LOVE IT!!
W. A.
Great venue for food and drinks
B. G.
Food outstanding, friendly staff in a great location. Would highly recommend.
K. R.
Great bar, great fish and chips! We stayed long enough to hear a local band play a bunch of 70s and 80s American music, and they were awesome! Glad we found this place!
R. W.
Lovely tatties, neeps and haggis. Innis and Gunn lager good. Deep fried Mars bar-perfect.
P. P.
Real Scottish place. Even though all tables were occupied after 10min at the bar they found table for us. Good drinks, food and perfect service. Recommend it for drum of whiskey and tasty smokey burger.
K. B.
absolutely a must if looking for a great wee pub with fantastic food, staff friendly and helpful, always cheery, will defo be back
C. V.
Great atmosphere and excellent food
K. G.
Lovely bar, friendly staff, great atmosphere.
f. R.
Very good place for food and drink
C. R.
Great little pub in the High Street. Friendly staff and a good selection of drinks on offer.
My wife and I went for a couple of drinks here after eating out in town and the staff were very friendly and the service was great.
We had a couple of drinks and there was live music on which was great as well.
All in all, well worth a visit.
Dogs are also allowed in the pub #Dugsinpubs
D. A.
Small bar with friendly staff. I hear they have very good haggis, but I haven't tried it personally. I definitely will make sure to do so the next time I'm nearby.
D. J.
Probably the best eatery in Edinburgh. Considering what a tourist destination it is, fantastic friendly customer service, good cellar, good pint and AMAZING FOOD! We had the feasting platter years ago and just had it now and it is still as scrumptious!
A.
Good meals and good bear. Service is so slow maybe due to they are at Royal Mile and it's always crowded. Nice place to try huggies, you can find them at lunch menu everyday cheaper than from the general menu.
D. C.
Fantastic bar....great live music...staff are the most friendliest I've ever experienced and great fun....this bar made our trip....highly recommend a visit numerous times. Well we did....loved it. We will be back
d. k.
Absolutely amazing wee pub! Popped in here on a recommendation and they weren't wrong. Waiting times for a table, but it's ok, didn't take long and we were ok standing for a short while, it's a bar after all..
Live music started at 10 and the guys was amazing, like super amazing. What a voice and his eclectic mix of music was superb. You dance where you can and it's just fab. Magnificent 5 * wee pub, absolutely well worth the visit and the return lol..
B. P.
I have been to Edinburgh City a couple of times but each time, I have found it very difficult to resit the sensation of going for a pint in the Royal Mile Tavern. My favourite time for going here is actually late evening from say 9pm when both the food from the kitchen, the drinks and the musical side of the City all come to life in this amazing place. it has got a wide choice of beers and ales, tasty food and a very friendly staff."
J. K.
Surprisingly good haggis
S. T.
A cute, quaint little pub. It was really close to the bnb we stayed at so went there a few times for drinks. Their fish n chips were really good and everyone was very nice.
A. N.
Good service.nice pub
D. H.
Service is great, my first meal was disgusting with undercooked fish with a soggy batter and a side of the worst mash potatoes in Scotland. My friends wanted to try there so I joined them and I had a really nice haggis.
F. S.
Good food, friendly staff and nice atmosphere.
C. B.
Good food and friendly staff.
P. P.
Absolutely ADORED this place. We came here on our first night and the food was really good. Our server was fantastic and super charismatic! We came back yet again the night after because we loved the vibe of this place.
G. C.
Nice pub good atmosphere.
R. H.
Nice friendly pub
R. H.
What a lovely little pub on the Royal Mile. I was greeted with a room full of lovely Scottish lads although I suspect the were mostly honorary Scottish being tourist Central and and all. The Tenants really hit the spot and the burger was a joy after a lengthy day out shopping and site seeing. So definitely pop in for a dram and some nibbles whilst strolling on The Mile.
K. H.
You can bring your puppers inside!
J. C.
Nice beer and spirit selection. One of very few places to have music on (quietly as background noise) but made the experience much more enjoyable :)
B. R.
Lovely pub, lovely staff, lovely cider, nice food and a really good experience.
We had a great craich with the staff and would go back again at the drop of a hat.
B. O.
Nice ambiance, particularly enjoyed the live band. Very good experience.
P. D.
Lovely place. Food was fab as was the service. Loved the atmosphere of this old pub. Will definitely go back there. Highly recommend.
J. D.
Great food and drinks.
R. D.
Decent pint, limited downstairs seating
G. W.
Great food and great atmosphere, came here with my partner and dog last night, and the food was brilliant , the staff attentive , they even made a mistake with my desert (fried mars bar!) Someone had my order and I had to wait longer than expected , so got my desert free :) highly recommend this pub when visiting Edinburgh
P. B.
Everyday live music. We went on a Wednesday an the singer was great. Did a lot of requests and a lot of classics. Drinks were a bit pricey though. £5 for a pint
c. b.
Fabulous place, unfortunately the head bar person was very rude to a lady making enquiries about a toasty.
Y. E.
Burger and beer - amazing!
I.
Great staff. Thank you for looking after us when we visited. Things obviously different because of Covid. You're doing a great job. Well done.
A. D.
Good whisky selection. In house list is augmented by online listing. Haggis is large. Recommend sharing. Live music may not start on time and was not worth the wait.
M. B.
Definitely recommend stopping here for a meal if you are in Edinburgh. Was in town for a day on a driving tour of Scotland and had Bangers and Mash...was their awesome gourmet pork sausage. So good and a great location too.
S. R.
Good value meals, especially considering the amazing location. Inside, it's cozy but not at all stuffy. Staff were friendly and the service was prompt.
S. G.
Booze.. Nuff said... Ok not enuff.. Editing... I came here during the 2019 Fringe Festival.. I was lost, and thirsty.. I wandered in here looking for a drink.. What a great place, live music by the door as you come in, great friendly bar staff, and a great selection of grog.. I even donated a Aussie $5 for your wall... One place I really miss since coming home... And I wish I got her number 😔
l. a.
Fantastic friendly pub great entertainment and sells Jagermeister black spice very happy Liz. Been here 3 nights this week fantastic artist's each night. The staff are all amazing.
Π. Μ.
It's a perfect place to drink your ale, eat your lunch and relax.
Their Christmas menu was a very tasteful choice.
Strongly recommend!
M. G.
Good singer on, less than a dozen people in. Next door is packed, couldn't get a seat. So came in for the music ! £5.10 for a pint of lager !!
Homeless person came in for a bit of a sing song before being ushered out
T. S.
Great Haggis, fish and chips and really nice service!
v. r. m.
Lovely place to eat some traditional food. Special prices for lunch are available. Totally recommendable the traditional haggis. Very attentive and nice staff.
K. L.
Had the haggis and tatties and it was very well presented and was great! Everything was good from the decor to the service. Only qualm was that it was a bit on the expensive side for what it was.
S. K.
Friendly staff, quick service, nice ambiance, delicious food, suitable for vegetarians. Can't say enough good things about this place. Recommend 100%
D. C.
Fantastic food, thoroughly enjoyed every bit of it.
S. P.
Had the fish and chips, and learned a bit more about Scottish history from all the decorative literature on the walls about breweries and famous architects. Was a very good experience.
a. h.
Good pub. Very touristy, if you can tolerate that, you will enjoy. Good staff. Havent tried the food. Music ok
D. S.
The place was nice and busy when we went. Even though we got there a bit late, we were still able to get some food. I loved the fish & chips there.

Better food than you would expect in a pub. Friendly staff. The night experience is very different from the day with live music and it is much busier.
A. D.
The whiskey selection here was awesome and the specials good. They have live events later in the evening. If you want to try scotches - this is a great place to go.

Very friendly and welcoming!!

Great local food at moderate prices. Attentive staff and nice interior make this a viable food option in the rather touristy centre of the old town.
K. K.
Great food at this little oub. We thoroughly enjoyed it and stopped by several times during our stay in the city.
J. H.
Average food and lumpy the lumpiest mash potato in lumpy land was a common theme for us. Sausages were overdone. Beer was great though.

Friendly staff though.
A. &. S. B.
Smashin place but get a license to allow kids. Sat there watching tourist families being turned away every few minutes cause they had kids. It ain't right.
