Really good cocktails and nice atmosphere. Callum behind the bar was lovely. He recommended us a spicy margarita of his own creation (not on the menu) and it was delicious! He was very knowledgeable about making cocktails and an absolute pleasure to talk to. The manager was also very helpful as we had some vouchers that we didn't know needed to be in paper form so he printed them out for us. Overall the best experience!

What a great bar!!!! These are few and far between. The balance between great concept, good, interesting decor, great staff, interesting drinks (meteorological cocktails), and an extensive menu. I loved the slogan, "fine foods and other curiosities". Oh yes, also great espresso. We haven't eaten here yet but it is on our "to do" list and I will update the review. The barman was happy to try his hand at my bespoke cocktails :) Funky decor by the set designers of Harry Potter!

Despite some amazing service, unfortunately the food just wasn't great, ranging from flavourless to overcooked to underseasoned. Everything with the exception of the side of chunky chips was disappointing. Shame to say as the service really was outstanding.

Always wanted to go to the Barologist, from the reviews I heard from people. This is now my favourite restaurant to go to absolutely beautiful inside the decor is so nice, Can get busy so I recommend to get a reservation. Food is beautiful and the drink served all comes with that little detail. I really wanted to see the stary 🌟 window but there was a wedding booked in that room. On going to the toilet I had a sneak look in, and captured a photo, the decor I haven't seen anything like the Barologist which makes it so different and unique. I went on the Friday, food stops getting served at 10pm and they have drinks after with a DJ with great music that fits the vibe. Pictures doesn't do this place justice. I do recommend they get some nachos in there Menu though, 😋

Drinks tasted good, but I think service was lacking. All tables were wet all the time. There weren't any napkins under the glasses so it's gets even more wet all the time. Still a nice experience and a beautiful bar. This problem is easy to fix and would improve the quality a lot.

Quirky fun pub. The top hat and tails greeter was delightful and really added some fun to the event. Maybe I'm just not getting out enough but drinks seemed really expensive. Noone else seemed to bat an eyelid so I guess I'm just out the loop. Great friendly and helpful staff.

First time here tonight. Friendly staff although our male server got our orders wrong twice, but he was a nice friendly guy. Loved the vibe and the decor. The prices are on the steep side. 21 quid for a bread, olive, meat platter is over the top. The belly pork was delicious. Overall, loved the place but too expensive. Unlikely to be back based on the prices alone but nothing other negative to say.

Dropped in for a drink. Got shown to a table but had to wait a while for service. Looks very interesting from outside but apart from watching Sky sports there wasn't much that grabbed me inside. Toilets beautifully clean though and in a prime sport near The Shore in Leith.

I used to love coming here when it first opened. It had a great menu with something for everyone, the cocktails were (and still are) great. But lately it seems to have gone downhill. Was there recently and there were several problems. Firstly, we had to ask for the inner back door not to be proper open by staff, as the outer back door was constantly open with smokers streaming in and out. So with the inner door open all I could smell was the stench of people smoking. Not good when you are trying to eat. Second problem was the non-alcoholic drinks selection. I had a hot chocolate, which was nowhere to be found on any menu, and I can see why. When it arrived it tasted like someone had waves some chocolate powder at hot water and called it hot chocolate. There was little to no taste to it at all. And as there are only 4 non-alcoholic cocktails, the choices for alcohol free drinks are very limited. Next up, the food. I like to look at the menu before going anywhere as it makes it easier to know in advance. Which normally works well. But upon arrival, I found that half the options had been taken off due to a menu change that was still over a week away. And what was left on the menu was well overpriced for what it was. Almost £9 for two sliders. And that is all you get for that price. Two mini buns. Two mini burgers. A tiny bit of salad. None of the meals came with sides, pushing a reasonable priced meal out way into overpriced and expensive. Then there was the ordering. Our waiter didn't have the one basic piece of equipment all wait staff should have: pen and paper. So he had to take a couple.orsers, go out them in, come back, take some more, go out them in, and so on. Then repeat with the drinks. So yeah, overall, the company made the evening. The food and venue were a disappointment. Which is a shame, as it used to be such a lovely place to visit.

We only went in here for some pre dinner cocktails, and loved it. The cocktails were delish and the staff were lovely and made us feel really welcome. We had the table at the bar and the barman, who turned out to be the new Manager, was so friendly and struck up conversations with us, again making us feel welcome. Really nice place with good selection of drinks. Only disappointment was a dirty martini that had so much olive brine in it was undrinkable so I had to buy another drink. Bar tender didn’t seem too bothered by my feedback. Given the other staff were so friendly and helpful, I think this was a reflection of his manner rather than anything to do with the establishment. I’d definitely give it a second chance tho.

We had to send 2 mains back to the kitchen as they were cold in the middle (macaroni which was piping hot on the outside), and a side of fries which were also cold.

I was incredibly impressed. The atmosphere is like none I've experienced. The staff were incredibly friendly, especially (I'm assuming) the manager, who took his personal time to chat about my fiance and I's interests while offering solid opinions on his own interests. We felt welcomed and enjoyed our beverages. I see some low reviews for small pours and I'll say that only one cocktail seemed to be a small pours and quite frankly a major ingredient was sugar syrup so I wasn't expecting a pow to the face. We are returning tomorrow to see what we think. But tonight was a success and we would absolutely recommend a visit here!

Awesome place to visit!! The pork belly starter was so amazing - could have had it again straight after finishing. Cocktail list is extensive and they make them all perfectly. You can even get a photo imposed on the top of cocktail foam which is crazy. Super fun different themes of each room including a thunder button that sets off the bar area. Absolutely worth a visit for dinner or even just a couple of drinks and snacks. They also support the local dog and cat home with donations from your meal if you ask. Great vibes

This is the second time I have been to the Barologist, the first time I was at a small wedding reception in the winter room it is gorgeous, it has a warm cosy atmosphere with lovely comfy seating. The staff were great. Food was excellent. I have just got back from another visit for a birthday dinner. I had Michael’s fish and the best minty mushy peas I’ve tasted. A member of staff ( a gentleman in a top hat 🎩) was particularly good with my 1yr old grandson letting us go behind the bar to push a big red button to make a thunder sound. I wish I live closer as I’d be a regular... I highly recommend you give it a try. Well done to the chef an staff at the Barologist.

Quirky restaurant with an interesting menu. Waiting a wee bit for our order to be taken but a lot of people had come in at the same time as us. A mix up with our starter which was quickly rectified. One main course (salmon) was undercooked, again quickly rectified. We were not charged for the starter or the main course which I though was very well handled. Will return and recommend

Had a works Christmas Meal here and I couldn't fault a thing. Amazing service from the moment we arrived. Even being early wasn't an issue. Staff are superb! Exquisite. A truly superb transformation, turning a nice but bang average pub, into a truly unique and intriguing bar and eatery. Taking the historical link to a well known neighbour, sets the theme for an imaginative and inspired pub experience. The decor and quality of finish is outstanding, creating a superb environment to frequent, making this a true destination and not just somewhere to go. The buildings awkward layout has been improved, and there are so many things to wander round and look at. Service is of a high calibre, with totally unique staff uniforms. Very impressed with the company breaking away from the usual corporate model, and treating patrons to quality and style. Could well teach bars in the capital a thing or two, and it’s reputation will truly grow.

Haven't been in since it was the cameo. Cocktails I would say are overpriced, food was fabulous. Had the jambulia bursting with taste n prawns. Service ok and the original waitress could have done with breaking a smile. French waiter was friendly n quirky so obviously depending on who serves you coloured your judgement. Went in on a quiet night but the bar looks amazing inside and a big departure from it's previous guise as the Cameo. Nice attentive barman looked after us and we quite liked the booth seating. Prices fall in to the expensive side which is the norm for all the shore pubs. I am afraid to say you get better value up town and on Leith walk.

Nice place to have a lunch. Large dining areas make for good events I'd imagine. Good food (menus available were great, from a breakfast to main course with snack menu too, my drink not so much (no lime cordial in the ginger and lime, only a slice of lime and glassfull of ice🙄) decor looks cool, it has a funky steampunk weird science vibe with strange artefacts placed around buzzing and flashing with globes and tubes of lightning, Great to look at(not allowed to touch thou) all in a nice place to spend some time eating and drinking with friends or family, I would go again happily. I recommended it to friends too.

I've been here a few times as I live pretty close by and I really like the place. The cocktail selection is good with plenty to choose from and something for everyone. I like the classic boozey cocktails where my girlfriend likes the fruity sweeter ones and neither of us are disappointed by the selection on offer. The atmosphere and surroundings will either make it or break it for you. There are some people who will see the pomp and décor as try hard, but I personally don't feel that way. I like the break from the norm it gives considering it's by The Shore which already has a selection of great local pubs and restaurants. It's different, it's not like the other pubs around, and I dont want it to be. My only criticism is that sometimes the table service can feel a bit sporadic. Being greeted and sat won't take any time at all, getting your first round of drinks might be quick enough, but after that it's the luck of the draw. There's plenty of waiters walking around and everyone looks busy, but it still takes time to get someone to take an order for second round of drinks. Now, the time it takes to get drinks depends on what you order, a load of pints will be ready much quicker than a load of cocktails, but it's just getting the order in can take some time. All wrinkles I'm sure will be ironed out as it's opened longer and longer. Other than that, I highly recommend giving this place a go. Try the Sazerac, they're delicious!

Very nice decor. There is a room to the right for functions but dangerous step up/down in this room. There is a sign saying mind the step but if people stand in front of it hey ho down you go. Maybe requires a railing with a gap put up to save people falling off the step.
