Reviews of The Beer House
T. W.
Served by 2 delightful, cheerful and welcoming young men. The pub was clean and very much Covid safety was in place. Table service was been used and the young staff member welcomed us very warmly, took us to our table and informed us of all the options of beer and wines the pub had on offer. I enjoyed a crisp pint of Camden and my partner enjoyed a large glass of wine. The burgers we ended up having were also very tasty. All in all a very pleasant and joyful experience. Would recommend to anyone going through Edinburgh
K. W.
After spending a most glorious long weekend in Edinburgh our final destination was the Beer House as we waited for our delayed train. The bar was very clean and although it was busy to staff were ensuring tables were cleaned quickly and efficiently. The lady who served us was very pleasant and chatty. She had genuine interest in how our weekend had been and served us in an extremely friendly and warm manner. It was £7.50 for our Pint of Stella and Fruit Cider bottle which was cheaper than we expected for a bar in the middle of the station. A truly nice experience, enhanced greatly by the staff working there

Left with a hour to spare in Waverley Train station so decided to give the Beer House a try. Clean and well decorated bar with warm and welcoming staff who were very friendly and funny. Burger and Pint deal which meant it was extremely reasonably priced, especially for a place in a station. Burger was served quick but was fresh and tasty. Pints were delicious and went down very well. Extremely pleasant and enjoyable experience
L. C.
Warm and welcoming bar staff who treated us very nicely. We ordered Burgers, Fish and a number of different pints. Food was delicious and the pints were fresh and lovely as well. We really enjoyed our meals and drinks in the bar. Thank you to the very friendly bar staff who made us feel welcome, gave us great advice and made us smile. Lovely people

I’m so grateful to the team at Edinburgh Beer House. My last train was cancelled and I was worried. The bartender who served me found me a table and got me a drink quickly but even more impressive was that he took the time to help me look for hotels and used his local knowledge to let me know the best deals. He helped to calm me and meant I was able to relax, book a hotel and enjoy a couple of pints in very pleasant surroundings. We don’t have the same COVID procedures in London but I was impressed with how they were used in your pub. The pints of Camden Hells I had were very fresh and reasonably priced for a station pub. All in all a great experience and sensational hospitality.
H. W.
Reasonably priced for a station pub. Staff were very kind, caring and attentive. No tables available when we arrived but male bartender quickly cleaned a table when another couple left and made sure we got served ASAP. Friendly and informative service and drinks were most enjoyable. Fantastic ambience.

The Beer House at Edinburgh Waverley Station. We popped in for a quick drink before heading down south and ended up spending nearly two hours in here.
The staff were really friendly and helpful. The people that we met whilst having a drink were great fun and all up for a laugh.
No masks required but the hygienic standard was kept up with.
The only way I can really describe it would be like your local away from home....
S. M.
Lovely lovely young lady called Tash served us. She made sure the Husband and I were welcomed and looked after in the most professional and yet fun way possible. My other half thoroughly enjoyed his Double Burger and we both very much enjoyed the lagers that we tried. Fully positive experience

Nice place to cut the time when waiting for trains to arrive. Serves comfort food and staffs are friendly.👍
C. C.
Its ok, situated in Waverley Train Station.Has a good selection of beer on tap. It helps pass time when waiting for a train.
A. C.
I missed my train so went for a quick drink to The Beer House. The staff were so lovely, and want to thank them personally, Josh, Tom, Alan and Rebecca for their warm welcome and putting me at ease before my next train. They are an asset to your team and will most certainly be back. Thank you 🙏
T. I.
Popped in for a quick drink before my train, and what a great wee bar. The staff were so friendly and chatty. Tom, Josh, Alan and Rebecca were so accommodating and are an asset to your company. Well done 👏
J. O.
We got to Edinburgh train station extremely early for our train but luckily we found a lovely spot to rest and enjoy ourselves before our train was due. The Beer House was clean and welcoming. We sat outside and even then the staff were very attentive, regularly coming out to santise tables and always checking we were ok every time they did so. Pints and Burgers were both very tasty and went down very well. £9.99 for a Burger and a pint of lager was reasonable price before we ate but even more so afterwards. Food was served quickly and we were very happy with our choice when it came. All the staff we interacted with were exceptionally friendly and gave us some good banter. Lovely place with lovely people
D. I.
The establishment was not busy when we arrived but a member of staff with the name Bex on her badge took time to speak to a couple at the bar who already had drinks in front of them. I tried to order drinks and was told in a curt manner, "I'm making sure everyone in front of you has been served", she then quipped something to the couple at the bar which I didn't hear but the three of them had a chuckle about it. Once she did serve me she seemed to know what she was doing, the drinks were poured and handed over quickly.
Perhaps Bex would benefit from a course in customer service.
M. M.
I like this gaff,it is what it is .A pub in a train station.it’s comfy has friendly staff and a pretty good selection of drinks at ok prices honest.ok spot to kill some time waiting for the train if you don’t want to leave station and lug bags around.
B. R.
Nice atmosphere and friendly staff. Popped in for a quick drink enroute to a restaurant. Would definitely come back for more.
G. E.
Does the job but could do with an upgrade. Signs on toilet doors saying " sorry, closed" but we're actually open and in use. Not great for main station in capital city.
N. S.
Lovely little tavern. At the Edinburgh train station. Barmaids were very friendly. And a pint is a pint.
G. S.
Fantastic staff, the beer has been reduced in price which makes it a great place to visit.
M. A.
Wonderful bartending crew. We were made very welcome from as soon as we entered the pub. The food and drink were sublime and the friendliness of your team really made our experience so much better. Thank you very much
R. W. M.
I only went in here to kill time and wait for a train, and I just had a lemonade, so I don't really have any complaints.
An international rugby match was playing (France vs Ital) on a big TV and I watched the last few minutes of that.
The staff were polite but not particularly friendly.
Best thing about this place is its location: right in the heart of Waverley Station. It's the only place to sit and be warm at night and for this I'm grateful. It's almost a community resource.
They also have some quite witty sayings on the wall, some of which I photographed.
I didn't eat here and, judging from the other reviews, I'm glad I didn't.
J. H.
Lovely experience. Great hospitality delivered by the staff who gave quick and friendly service even though pub was packed to the rafters. Food was tasty and wines very refreshing.
S. A.
Wonderful wonderful service from a great staff. Helpful, delightful and full of energy. Beer and food very nice too but the staff really make this bar a place worth visiting.
J. H.
We were served by Tom & Alan - very friendly and efficient. Good beer, handy for the train. An old favourite
R. S.
Very busy station pub but staff very good. Friendly, fast and funny. Table service but only through Scottish Law.
R. B.
today we were served by Tash. Her customer service skills were outstanding. she was efficient at serving whilst also making time to make us feel welcome. i’m grateful for this service and i would love to come back because of Tash as the serving team. thank you. polly.
J. T.
Busy little place... quick service from the staff and hats off to the girls with there patience with one rather tipsy group of men. Toilets were quite small but prices were fair.
R. S.
Good place while you are waiting for the trains. And good beers and service.
M. M.
Pretty busy given the traffic coming to and from the station, but the music is at a low enough level to allow conversation. It would be nice if there was a board to show train times etc without leaving the building - otherwise would have been five stars.
B. A.
Needed quick drink before train. Service could have been quicker but can understand because of restrictions
I. C.
very friendly man loved his beard and had the voice of an angel xxx
O. H.
This is a place where you can have a beer when you waiting for a train. Friendly staff and clean toilets, what more can you wish for when waiting for a train.
L. I.
Lovely young lady called Tash served me. Very friendly, courteous and professional. An asset to your company!
F. E.
Bar staff on hand were really friendly and attentive, would love to come here again!
K. H.
Great customer service would definitely come back, Catherine and Iliasse were great and made us feel very welcome :)
c.
The toilets need a revamp grotty looking but clean. Not a great look for travellers. The beer prices are more comparable to others near by. Good.
F. K.
Angies' customer care is really great loved the nachos, and the fish and chips were fantastic
A. C.
Alan was a great help when serving me and my wife, on our trip away!
L. S.
Love this bar, it's inside Waverly Station Edinburgh. We can take the kids in when waiting for our train, feed them and get them juice. The staff are fab, they keep the place clean and that's not easy where they are at this time
K. B.
Good little pub, good service 🍻👍
L. G.
Staff were attentive and polite, nice atmosphere while waiting on our train
L. M.

S. A.

S. C.
Service good staff friendly and welcoming 👍
C. M.
Service was good our server Bex was helpful and friendly. Will definitely be back
H. B.
Pleasant, straight forward place to stop by and have a bite or a bev in Waverley station. You get what you need; I needed a cozy hideaway and a warm bite in a pleasant atmosphere, when I came by during breakfast hours. Breakfast and lunch/dinner selections (served until 11 and from 11, consecutively) both include vegetarian options. Surprisingly wide selection of wine and bubbly, given the name of the bar.
No complaints here. This place is good.
K. N.
Went for drink before train - service good
Z. G.
Friendly staff. This cider was lovely.
J. x.

c. m.
Great atmosphere to chill waiting for my train
K. P.
Great lunch! Cozy spot, but don't under estimate it. Food is noteworthy!
C. M.
Stopped for coffee between trains, good experience
S. J.
Lovely staff very friendly food piping hot and tasted delicious
G. B.
Actually not bad at all for a Station pub. Staff were friendly, they have a good selection of ales and wines. It was quite busy while we were there but there's plenty of standing room inside and out to prop your pint up. And they sell scampi fries!
E. G.
Went into this pub after missing our train. We thought we would have a drink and relax during the two hour wait for our next train. The music was absolutely shocking, heavy metal that was played so loud you couldnt hear what you were saying. And to top it off the same songs played repeatedly. This is not the type of place people could relax and enjoy a drink before making their journey.
J. W.
The Beer House serves one of the creamiest lattes, and one of the tastiest breakfasts I've had in a long while. Spent some time in Edinburgh and ate in some class establishments, but they honestly don't compare to the breakfast here.
M. C.
Always busy with friendly atmosphere
K. J.
Fab experience while waiting for our train
I. F.
Innis n Gunn is my favourite beer just now. I tried a pint of Gunpowder which was rather nice. I still prefer the lager tho. We didn't try the food but it did look good especially one of the burgers
W. C.
Nice spot for a drink whilst waiting for a train. Big screen for sports.
B.
Nice wee chill place to wait on a train
B. L.
Pub very decent, staff nice and friendly. Good variety of beers. Downside is toilets are abysmal. Smell so bad, hand drier not working and so on.
S. C.
Can't hope for too much at a railway bar, but not having pigeons attempting to relieve themselves on you and not having annoying men trying to start a fight about bar queuing etiquette would be welcomed. To be fair the staff are nice enough.
R. M.
Great place, great beer, first visit but not the last
S. “. E.
Fine place for a quick pint
D. M.
TASH WAS AWESOME VERY FRIENDLY AND ATTENTIVE
M. M.
We occasionally pop into this pub at Edinburgh Waverley Rail STN while waiting for our train home. Sometimes have trial ales on sale. Can be noisy at peak times.
r. j.
Good place. Great atmosphere and venue. Brilliant live acts and the beer is fantastic.
The place itself is architecturally beautiful and friendly
L. R.
Busy as expected for a pit stop whilst waiting for a train.
A. M.
Good food
C. W.
Brilliant as Im allowed to dance to my iPod in the station where The Beer Station is situated plus my one and only drink is pints of soda water which is free! 😎 or what! 😂
G. S. M.
I had some drinks before I came back to London, I loved the Scottish mentality having friendly chats with locals it was very good.
A. M.
Great place nice staff
D. M.
Expensive drinks, cashing in on the captive audience. Nothing very exciting or unique. With the location, it could be so much more. Disappointing.
T. B.
Lovely pub with extremely friendly and fun staff
S. M.
A well, established place served by friendly staff who provide cold, refreshing drinks also hot breakfast available I highly recommend a wee visit when in Auld Reekie
T. B.
Pricey, as are all station pubs, but there's a decent selection of drinks and the staff are nice.
S. S.
Always busy, staff are always attentive and efficient - not a lot of craic though. Pretty expensive for drinks.
P. T.
Loved the atmosphere and the staff were very good. Beer excellent
K. D.
Over priced but handy for the station and the dog could sit outside. Some good beers.

A. S.
Pretty standard train station pub. Fine for a drink if you're waiting for a train but nothing else.
V. B.
Popped in while waiting for a connecting train. Was very busy. More seats needed. There were 3 empty tables but no seats.

D. W.
Handy in the train station. Always packed though. Fair prices and staff seemed nice and helpful .
A. F.
Nothing to complain about it! And I had only beers in almost 1 hour in the pub.
L. H.
I mean it's not the best pub and drinks are not cheap but it's super convenient when you are waiting for a train and you don't want to venture far
Y. U.
Good place to have a drink and kill the time until your train leaves.
P. P.
Friendly staff, but service can be over burdened. Clean and clinical, but was very cold. Pricey.
