Really nice place, relaxed and chilled. I suppose in normal times it's very busy and a bit more life. As it's COVID times there is table service. Really lovely seafood tagliatelle and steak pie.

This place was very busy pre-rugby, right from opening time, but super efficient staff served up great breakfasts and lovely beers to set us all up. Went back for post match dinner and more drinks- great menu and everything was first rate, and the atmosphere was magic! Everything about The Caley Sample Room is so good- warm welcome, excellent food and beers (and what a choice of draught ales) and superb staff. Couldn’t think of anywhere better the next morning to fill my flat white needs, because there can’t be many better places. Well done to manager Neil, and all your lovely staff- thanks for being a big part of a great weekend!!

The food was beautiful. We had the soup of the day and buffalo wings, steak pie and hamburger, and a brownie. Best steak pie I have had in a long time. Normally get basic veg but there was 4 different types of veg. Didn't scrimp on portion size. There was one fella looking after the entire front of house and he was totally on the ball. Will definitely be back soon and would recommend to anyone

Really recommend this Pub to anyone that actually enjoys being able to chat to their friends. The staff are extremely friendly and do their best to ensure you enjoy your food and drinks. For example : a friend of mine remembered drinking a specific beer last time but couldn’t remember the name, the barman listened and had my friend try 2 beer and one of them was the right one. The music isn’t too loud, there’s plenty of seats and space and the food is great.

First day of our trip we came in this little gem. The blond curly lady(didn't get her name) was amazing. Very friendly and kind, very good service and awesome sence of humor. We left with a smile. Came in the 2nd day, she even remembered what we had for drinks before,(pointing me when i was going at the bar with the quote "Punk IPA") just amazing. If i have the option I will come again for sure.

Good well decorated bar/restaurant, particularly so close to usual old fashioned Gorgie Road pubs. Plenty of good craft beers and spirits . Good layout, popular at weekends. Restaurant food also available in dedicated area. Staff friendly and helpful.

In short, this pub has character and atmosphere but is quite expensive. Me and a few friends attend the pub quiz at the Caley Sample Room on Mondays (it's free and good fun!). They have a good selection of drinks, but they are quite expensive (it was £5.10 for a pint of Punk IPA). The food is also quite expensive but is well presented and very tasty. The atmosphere is always pretty good. The pub has dark, atmospheric lighting and a cool almost exclusively wooden interior. The staff are friendly and helpful. I would recommend this pub to you if you're looking for somewhere a little bit quirky and different!

A great local! Was there very recently for a couple of drinks to catch up before Christmas. Always a buzzing atmosphere. My friend had a venison burger and saif it was "really, really good". Dogs allowed and water provided. Most staff were welcoming although there was one in particular that had a face like a wet weekend and wasn't very acknowledging of customers in the bar.

This place is great! My friends and I often come here for a drink and the atmosphere is always friendly. Have also had some lovely meals here and the bar snacks are very good quality. Would particularly recommend the pittas and hummus. They are also happy to welcome dogs.

Love the Caley...we always make a visit when we are down in Edinburgh. They're a great place to take your dog. The staff are so friendly and extremely efficient. Baxter got lots of dogs biscuits and treats and he even met a couple of friends! If you want a great night out and fabulous food don't look past the Caley Sample rooms.

Definitely a place I'd recommend. As the name might suggest this pub is linked to the local Caledonian Brewery allowing you to effectively drink straight from the source. If you love your ales, you are in for a treat and if you're visiting Scotland/Edinburgh and want to get a taste for some of the local tipples you can't go too far wrong here. The food is also particularly good - a great place to visit on a Sunday morning/afternoon to clear those hangover blues with a filled belly. Inside the decor suits the "brewery vibe", the service is normally fast and the atmosphere is friendly. A really nice local pub.

I threw my birthday party at the Caley. The staff were fabulous and user-friendly. The house let us play Persian music without second thought. We danced and we drank a lot. It is the place you can get weird. All my friends relished the night and the place.

Great pub. The kind of place you go for dinner or drinks with friends and end up staying way longer than you thought you would. Food is great, atmosphere friendly and relaxed. Went on a Friday evening for food. The staff here are friendly and very accommodating, food is great and they have a top notch craft beer selection. The restaurant and bar were packed which made for a good atmosphere. Would definitely recommend.

This part of town is pretty lacking in nice bars so this is the place to head if you find yourself around here. Table booking is reccomended for a meal, especially at the weekend. Good range of wines and beers and the food is above par pub classics as well as other dishes. I usually go for the Tempura Battered fish and mushy peas...

Nice pub with good section of beers although quite pricy. Always makes me laugh the way they pour German wheat beer. Takes them about 5 minutes as they twirl the bottle and bang it off the bar to get every last drop, all to give the air they know what they're doing and why it's nearly £6 a bottle. In Germany it'd be pour and a quick swirl, job done. Last time I was in everyone still had coats and scarfs on as it was so cold inside. Bottom line, it's ok but not as good as it thinks it is.

Would never have thought to come here for breakfast, but it's well worth it. There's loads of space early on, and it's really nice inside. The chef does the best omellete you'll have ever eaten. I had cheese, onions and Jalapeños in mine and it was balanced perfectly. I make them all the time and I was dismayed to find his so much better than mine (but also glad as I was starving). My girlfriend had the breakfast ciabata which was LOADED with haggis and bacon. Flipping delicious, and great bar/waiting staff too. Oh, and they have trade sized Tabasco in case you can't go without the spicy stuff like me.
