Our local spot. We've been regularly visiting for the last three years. We noticed a significant improvement over the last few months. We like the food options, great prices, good kids' menu. It's a family-friendly pub. It's spacious and cosy. They did redo the interior, and looks even better now. We also enjoy the outside terrace. Spacious and sunny. Free parking on site. They organise quizzes and live music.

Adam who I believe is the manager was so welcoming and friendly. Also staff were friendly and were able to accommodate an order I asked for which was good. Food was excellent and a nice calm and relaxing atmosphere will definitely be visiting again

We've visited this pub during our stay in Edinburgh. Food was very tasty, good portion and good value for money (Love your nachos!!). Staff members were friendly and remembered us when we came back! Definitely recommend to visit if you're in the area.

Staff were lovely, but there were not enough on, we waited such a long time for our food. We waited a really long time for the first course, sat for at least half an hour, if not more in between courses, with the dishes sitting in front of us. The second course was either over cooked or was waiting under the heat lamps too long and was dried out (my Grandma was too embarrassed to send it back). The bar has such a great potential but this is the second time this has happened. The staff are having to serve at the bar, restock the bar and wait on the tables despite low numbers if staff vs customers, it seems like an unmanageable amount of work for the amount of people that are on shift. Very disappointing, sorry.

Took my wife and mother and father here was a nice little quiet pub lovely please to be feels right at home there. Only reason for the lack of 5 stars would be the wait for the food took alot longer than expected when there wasn't many people in but overall a very good experience bar staff were great and the food was to will definitely be returning here.

The Hunter's Tryst is a very ordinary, reasonable pub with the standard offering you would expect from a chain of this sort. I ordered the fish and chips. It was absolutely fine. Nothing to write home about, but nothing wrong with it either. I ordered the Eton Mess for dessert, which wasn't great. It was really just a bowl of melted cream and ice cream, of indistinguishable flavours and textures. The service was fine, although I didn't appreciate the staff member rather patronisingly explaining that even paper straws are bad for the environment, when I asked for one. It would have been enough just to explain that they'd ran out of them (which they had, anyway). I'll probably be back in future for a quick bite to eat or drink, but only because the location is very convenient for me personally. I wouldn't make a special trip to visit here.

A decent pub, relaxed, quiet on a Thursday night, always short of staff, and forever letting down customers with poor customer service due to lack of staff with one excuse or another. Still a decent friendly bar. They only have one Gluten Free beer which isn't exactly progressive, and Peroni GF isn't the best. Come on Ember Inns, let's get some GF ales in please. Join the 21st century.

Stuff should be aware of the food allergies (e.g. gluten intolerance,...)! Overall, good service, affordable prices and good food (although not many gluten free options). Writing 3 days later: I suggest gluten intolerant people stay away from this restaurant as I have been contaminated and been suffering with terrible headaches for the past 3 days. I understand not every restaurant can have specific facilities for coeliacs. Next time just be clear!

We were a group of 14 that booked on short notice. The staff were fantastic, got a table for us all in a quiet corner. The kids (6 of them from 8 to 13) loved it. Good selection of food, though limited real ale that night. Great atmosphere, good staff a good evening all round. Would recommend.

The food was hearty and decent enough. The staff however were very off with us. Google and the place itself said food until 21:00 however the staff believe 20:00-20:30 is in fact 21:00 they were very reluctant to serve us food. The person I believe to be the manager seemed to be enforcing the 21:00 rule and the staff he was talking to were less than impressed that the kitchen staff would have to work until the 21:00 'deadline' Having given our order for a family of five the staff proceeded to scowl and give dirty looks when the felt we were not looking but we were. Honestly I understand having worked in the service/hospitality industry in the past it's very annoying when a customer turns up at the last hurdle to order food etc HOWEVER that does not mean you change they way in which you treat that customer. The customer is king and puts the money in the til at the end of the day. A very nice pub and the food was decent enough for a return, the staff and the way in which we were made to feel and the way the treated us I'm unsure if we will return. The food saved this review from a one or two star rating however I myself feel the quality of the food would be better had we been able to turn up earlier.

I've been here on many occasions and have always enjoyed it. Unfortunately on my last 2 visits there seemed to be a shortage of staff. Despite asking twice for a vegetarian option I was given chicken instead of halloumi and when eventually I did get my order the food was cold. Toilets could have been cleaner and cobwebs remained from second last visit to last visit. No complaints regarding staff.

Have been going here regularly for over 10 years. Bar a couple of minor complaints previously, which were resolved to our greatest satisfaction, we have always been very happy to eat here. Tonight however was a bit of a game changer. I ordered a rare steak. It came out grey, so definitely overcooked. We handed it back as it was not as ordered. 5 minutes later the duty manager comes over, stipulating he is a steak man and he doesn't understand the complaint. I felt I was being accused of lying. I explained again that I like my steak rare, that means red all the way through, not grey. By this time I was pretty annoyed. My partner's steak was really tough so he had complained as well. He was then told that his steak had been undercooked and was not medium, so couldn't be tough. I am very angry at the way we were spoken to and made to feel like liars when the manager was actually admitting that neither steaks were cooked as we requested. Though he went to have them done again, we decided not to go ahead with our order. We were finishing our drinks when the manager had the audacity to come over and ask if we wanted desserts! In over 10 years, it's the first time I've had such a bad experience with the manager. Don't think I'll be back in a hurry in case he is on duty again. Shame, because my family and I really like the place because it's cosy, clean and good value.

Asked for a menu, staff couldn't find a menu and had to print some off, steak and ale pie was disgusting, pastry was hard as a brick struggled to cut it, fish was more of a tiddler with a handful of chips, staff were polite however, think they looked embarrassed when serving the food, I used to come regularly years ago, what a let down now.

Pleasant surrounding, they do lunch deals, main meal starting at £4.99, evening deals, two courses for £9.99. We both had steaks Rump £9.99 Serlion £10.99. was not very when our meal arrived after waiting 30 mins, both our steaks were just warm and very chewy, fry,s were just warm, I had pepper sauce with my steak and that to was watery and just warm. Would have thought after waiting all that time our food would have came out piping hot and the portion s could have been a bit bigger. Good news for Sale drinkers, Mon-Wed they sell different ale,s at £2.49 a pint.

Lighting in some parts of the pub could be improved but the large gas and real fire gives it a homely feel. Usually visit in the afternoon or early evening. Outside sitting area could do with a good clean as their is often loads of burnt out fags in the bushes and around sitting area.Food is reasonably priced with plenty on the plate.
