Reviews of The Orchard Bar & Restaurant
B. F.
First time I've been for food having been just for drinks before. Service was great and really friendly. I had the fish & chips: fish was crispy, tasty and not greasy and the chips were next level skin-on 'rooster' ones. Only minor thing was it was a wee bit on the chilly side even with the radiator on but we were right at the window. I also got a taste of the steak pie (helped with the leftovers) it was also really good. Oh and couldn't resist the sticky toffee pudding and glad I didn't. Will definitely be back!

We had the most absolute pleasant experience at The Orchard. Staff was super lovely and the food and beers absolutely delicious. Great attention to details in a stunning charming venue where we felt very warmly welcomed.
It is located in an area just 15 mins away from Princes Street, away from the frenzy of the most touristic area and extremely close to Water Lieth. Highly recommend.

Nice bar, had not been in before. Just on outskirts of city centre. Good location for pint and/or food before or after visit to Botanic gardens or doing The Water of Leith walk. Very friendly staff. Clean pleasant environment. Did not try the food but looks good (I’ll take their word that their steak pie is legendary- might go back to confirm), child friendly.

Amazing food and service 🥰 my server helped me find the perfect whisky for my lunch and the meal was phenomenal! …

We passed this place by mere chance and wanted to give it a shot.
And we were lucky!
The Orchard is a very friendly, modern pub with good vibes. Perfect to spend a rainy evening. The food (British pub classics) was excellent: We had Sunday roast (beef), mussels and ice cream for dessert ( highly recommend it!). All dishes were well prepared, tasty and way above average. The service was (and there are no other words to describe it) lovely! They made us feel welcome and at home. This in itself was an amazing experience for me as German, cause I am used to bad service. But even for the UK the service was outstanding!
Last but not least, the whisky menu is well curated and the bartender was very kind and helpful in finding interesting tastes.
So what else can I say? This is a hidden gem! You should most definitely check it out!

Came here after seeing the lights at the botanics. We didn't book and although busy, they were able to get us a table for 4 pretty quickly. Staff were very friendly and chatty which was nice. Extremely attentive. Food was really good! They were able to substitute some items on dishes easily enough, reasonably priced and came pretty quickly. I would go again. Only slight issue, is that it can be difficult to find parking as it is residential and on a main road.

We had a wonderful dinner here.
We both took burgers (veggie and classic) and both of them were delicious.
The portions were generous and tasty. It was also the best fries we ate during our trip through Scotland.
The place itself is very pretty and the staff is nice and welcoming.
The quality/price ratio is very good.
We would highly recommend it !

We absolutely adored our server! So lovely and friendly, and very helpful! Excellent food (garlic bread, veggie burger, souffle, lamb roast, haddock) and the only complaint would be that the lamb's sauce/gravy was over-reduced. Otherwise, very, very lovely evening! Absolutely loved the decor and colours of the back area, as well!
D. K.
Amazing food, service and service! Kate, our waiter was incredibly helpful and nice.
I asked her to seat us to a quieter place ( me and my friend has sensory issues) and she did it straight away!
She was friendly and the haggis starters are the best in Scotland! ❤️🤩
I can’t recommend this place enough!!!
T. C.
Not somewhere you'd naturally find as a tourist but worth a visit, booking recommended. Well priced and varied menu. A good range of beers where the bar staff could make recommendations. The mussels here were far superior to those that we ordered in one of the city centre restaurants.
D.
It is a very lovely place. Usually I go there after work for beers and chips ( best in town). Last Sunday I had a Sunday roast there and it was amazing, staff is lovely and excellent atmosphere. Food was great and I had to have a portion of chips because they are too good
T. O.
Great service, quaint place, good food.
One ofmy friends must eat gluten-free and was handily accommodated.
I enjoyed the steak and ale pie and some great chips.
There is a good wine and spirit list.
I had a great time with friends and will return.
S. M.
great on your own and great in groups.
often going there with our baseball team after games. very understanding in finding us space. a nice local atmosphere without a feeling of a bar out of its time.
A. S.
Had a dinner and lunch there last week on a return to my home patch.
Particularly friendly and good service
I am still dreaming of that black pudding salad! Sensational. Soups, pie, mussels all sampled also by others and …Big thumbs up 👍
K. T.
A really warm and wonderful pub with character and probably the happiest staff I've ever met. Loved every minute there and will now hopefully make it my local.
Really brilliant place!
S. F.
Went to the Botanic Gardens Light show and called in here on the way back with my daughter and small grandaughter. Service was friendly and welcoming and super efficient. We had just a main course because we didn't want to be out too late with the wee one. Fish and Chips was excellent, both the adults and childs portion. The mussels were also excellent and the prices were very reasonable. Will definately return again when back in the area.
P. R.
Though busy after the new year, they still found a small space to fit us in. Cosy and friendly with good food
D. S.
One of my favourite pubs at the moment, their sandwiches are to die for (the steak sandwich is 10/10) and the portions are really generous for the prices. Great lunch choice!
P. P.
Lovely place to eat fresh food. Everything was exquisite, the treatment was fantastic, after a whole day walking and getting loss in the edimburgh streets, it was really kind fro. The waitress to exquise us in o e of the tables with everything book up. They have a wide range of beers, so you can feel free to taste new ones and the food was marvellous. Definetly I will be back my next time in edimburgh.
S. F.
We stopped by here for some food after we went to the botanical gardens.
They have a great variety of local beers on tap if you fancy that. We had burgers and they were delicious with beer.
Around that time a few families were in. If you come with kids only the non bar area is aloud to sit for you.
We enjoyed our time here.
Perfect for a good bite (typically Scottish food as well) and a pint.
Cheers!
K. H.
Steak pie to die for. Lucy & manager Chris were real gems. They looked after us and treated us like royalty. Well done.
A. G.
The Orchard is a nice looking pub with tables and chairs outside as it was a beautiful day.
We booked a table for three and were warmly welcomed on arrival and shown to our table.
We found the inside setting a little cold and dark and also a little old fashioned. Our drinks served swiftly along with water and the menu. We ordered fish and chips and two steak pies.
Even though the pub was not that busy we waited a long time for our food which was reasonably good but typically pub grub. This is a nice place for drinks without doubt but the competition for pub restaurants in Edinburgh is strong and there are many formidable choices.
K. W.
Fantastic food! Absolute lovely pub, friendly service, incredible eats. Highly recommend!
I. Y.
We walked by and decided to have lunch here. We ordered breaded fishes, it was crispy and the chips with skins on were yummy too. Staff are so friendly and lovely. Nice clean place inside.
S. P.
The Orchard was recommended by on of the staff at the hotel we are staying in. Really friendly and helpful staff and good service. The food was delicious. Had the veggie burger and it came with REAL chips! All the food was piping hot. We all had the sticky toffee pudding for dessert which was delicious too. Would highly recommend The Orchard too.
A. G.
Love this Bar. Food is top quality and puddings are delicious. Friendly staff lovely atmosphere. Superb Rum selection 🥃🥃🙂
J. B.
A welcoming pub with an excellent menu offering contemporary dishes using local, seasonal produce.
From the moment you enter the Orchard through it's stained glass door, you know this place is a bit special.
Staff are friendly and knowledgeable and the bar manages to tread the fine line between being stylish and informal.
J. B.
We had lunch here. Ciabatta sandwich. Very tasteful. We had Brie and one with chicken. Nice interior. WC. Friendly staff.
A. V.
Good food and reasonable range of decent cask beers. The food we had was pretty good and service was excellent.
S. S.
This places Food is fantastic. I had Haggis in Batter starter which was not too dry and served on a plate with sauce and amazing presentation. My main was a Steak pie and is easily the best Pub steak pie, I've ever had. I had what felt like a full rump steak in a pie with a tasty grave and perfect pastry. YOU GOTTA TRY THIS!!!....
S. C.
Great food and fast service .was nice and friendly vibe .would defo go back for more grub.
M. N.
A lovely place to eat and drink. Staff really nice too. We'll worth a visit.
S. W.
Great service and food. Smart, but comfortable and relaxed.
T.
Me and my dad a lovely time at the Orchard. Instantly felt at home because of the lovely staff and the homely atmosphere. The food was delicious, with plenty to choose from as well.
Also just generally so much better from all the touristic places near the city centre. Definitely recommend!
C. L.
Great friendly service and delicious food
F. N.
Cozy place, friendly staff and good food with a fine variety of options in the menu. The wait was not long after ordering, dining room and rest rooms were very clean.
D. M.
Good local beers, excellent food and lovely friendly staff. Grand experience.
H. V.
Nice Little pub, well worth a long sit-down after the botanical garden
C. R.
Lovely meal here and a few drinks watching the world go by.
B. “. e.
I was a regular here 30 years ago when it was, 'The Northern Bar' seems more relaxed and a place to sit and watch the world go bye now (yes I am getting older). Love a pint of Stella but allsorts of other drinks available. Lol
S. B.
Great food, nice staff, beautiful setting. There are large windows to let the light in and I love the marbled glass lampshades.
m. s.
So eating the excellent pies and stews a few times here, I was very disappointed with the portions for the Sunday lunch, while the meal itself was delicious and very tasty, it was basically child portions, I’d have happily paid more for an adult size serving
R. M.
First time ever in this bar but popped in for beers with a friend and certainly look forward to returning and including a meal from the splendid choice menu. Lovely atmosphere and great service.
A. L. G.
Superb is not good enough the food was first class, service excellent five stars all round.
L. L.
Very clean bar retaining some original fixtures. Friendly staff who take great pride in pouring a perfect pint. We shared a fish and chips which was delicious.
c. f.
Nice place, was seated promptly, staff friendly and helpful.
J. R.
Visited for lunch. Nice menu selection. I had the fennel and blue cheese salad which was really tasty. Would l
Visit again to try more of the food (the steak pie and twice baked goats cheese soufflé sound amazing) and drinks.
R. B.
Such an amazing pub! Staff were amazing! Food was fantastic! I'd walk back to Edinburgh and go again 😊
s.
Nice place, nice food and staff were happy to help.
D. R.
Really friendly, accommodating staff - always have a good evening in The Orchard.
B. B.
The food is good great atmosphere. Could do with a lick of paint.
Still needs some paint didnt enjoy it this time steak pie was very sweet wont have food again . Still a great bar staff are nice not been for awhile
A. R.
Nothing bad to say, food and service were excellent 👌
K. G.
We ordered onion rings and chips, they were delicious. Chunky chips with the skin on and giant onion rings. The pub is pretty and has nice window seating and fresh flowers for the tables. There is a variety of beers and ciders to choose from. The staff are all very friendly.
S. B.
Had dinner here on Hogmanay. Tables well spaced out. Staff on duty very friendly and efficient. Ribeye steak cooked to perfection. Ice cream not bad either.
C. H.
Had out first "big" work night out here, with around 15-20 people. Bar staff were great. It was still table service, so no crowding at the bar. Felt good to be out again!
J. L.
Excellent bar. Good selection of drinks and upbeat friendly staff. Lunch time menu is excellent. Good range of choice from toasties and burgers to pies and pork belly, there is also usually a fish of the day from the local mongers.
Food is served quickly and always to a high standard. Never usually to busy to seat a couple of people but bigger parties should book ahead.
R. H.
Sad times in C19 world, only alcohol free beers available as well as soft drinks and teas and coffees- heres to a better 2021
C. G.
We went in here tonight and had a lovely time. The sharing meat and cheese platter was delicious and the staff were really friendly. They are also doing a fab job of being covid compliant. Can’t wait to go back!
M. A.
Just a nice traditional pub with friendly staff and a great atmosphere.
I dined here recently and had the Steak Pie. It was quite simply out of this world! And I've tried quite a few Pies 😉 …
N. S.
The staff were friendly. Food was good.
R. S.
Good food, good prices, good atmosphere. Loved it!
S. P.
Smashing little eatery close to botanical gardens too.
A. L.
For a gluten free diner, the menu options were relatively limited. I had a tasty risotto and salmon dish - good, not outstanding. A bit spendy for the quality in my opinion. My husband was raving about the steak pie and would likely rate this place much higher than me!
N. S.
Loved the ambience and their service, helpful staffs.
N. L.
A beautiful little bar we stumbled upon on a walk back from the Botanic Gardens - and we are so happy we did. The most lovely, friendly staff & service. Food was delicious and the menu was varied - the Haggis fritters are an absolute must try (especially if you're trying Haggis for the first time). Cannot recommend this place enough!
P. B.
Great foodie pub without the pretentious guff you can get with this type of place. Had the greatest home made burger I've had in years. (Beef). Wife had veggie burger & rated it 10/10. Chips were marvellous old fashioned, skin on, proper chips. Dessert is normally skipped for a dram but temptation was too much and we indulged. Homemade again, sticky toffee pudding was a bit obvious but great and a raspberry yoghurt cake a nice wee surprise. Braw vanilla icecream too.
All washed down with Aspall's cider on draught and some decent coffee.
Marvellous!
A. P.
Good pub for drinking and for eating. Steak sandwich and chips were lovely. Absolutely top notch New Zealand sauvignon blanc which is hard to find in a pub. Thank you.
S. K.
Relaxing atmosphere with pleasant friendly staff. Thoroughly enjoyed lunch, too much, very filling warm salad blackpudding, bacon, poached egg. My sister had haggis bonbons again generous lunch portion. Staff actually offered selection of gin available. Nice touch.
A. L.
Great food. Friendly service.
j. o.
Excellent, all of the meals we had looked and tasted good
A. V.
We had lunch at the Orchard. We ordered in advance and the food was promptly available and delicious. Very friendly and helpful staff. We even had some extra orders that were provided without fuss. One thing that really impressed me was that they we are happy to provide us all with individual bills at the end.
C. J.
Fantastic place to spend an evening. We had a delicious dinner here on Friday night. The food was scrumptious and even though the bar was packed out, we received amazing service from the really lovely staff. Can't wait to go back!
L. J.
Took our mum there for Sunfay lunch. Staff very friendly. Food nice and my mum really enjoyed. Had the Sunday roast, was tastey.
C. R.
Decent pub, a few nice ales and a few nice wines. There's a couple of cosy sofas tucked away in one corner, it would be even better if they had a proper fire. Food is average at best, my mashed potato was a bit dry and past it but the sausages were good.
S. P.
Just for drinks but service and staff and Cleanliness excellent.
Food that we saw going out looked good.
C. T.
Nice place and friendly staff. However charging £4.40 for a small bottle of Alcohol Free Peroni is disgusting- 20p cheaper than bottles of normal strength and same price as a pint of Tennents!!
J. L.
Much improved since I was last here, about three hundred years ago!
Nice and chilled with grand staff.
Menu looks good but I just had a pint so can tell you what the nosh was like.
A. M.
Just stopped in for one drink. The gentleman that served us was very polite and friendly. Would definitely go there again. Very safe and covid compliant
S. F.
Really friendly helpful people. We reserved the back room for a leaving do and pre-ordered food. It all arrived together and was very tasty. The bar staff went out of their way to make sure we had a great evening.
n. p.
Excellent restaurant quality food served at pub prices. Crayfish tails sandwich is amazingly fresh and tasty. Chef once cooked for us after kitchen was closed - really appreciated it. Despite only going in occasionally I get the impression that the manager and staff in the Orchard are a really good crew.
L. C.
Nice pub. My favourite here is the black pudding salad. Good beer selection. They take reservations. Good for groups and couples alike. Would recommend if you find yourself looking for a pub in this neck of the woods
E. K.
Great place, delicious food and very friendly staff. Had a hake special, steak pie and desserts, all amazing! Steak pie best so far, as well as brownie. Definitely will come back.
K. B.
Just had a drink here. Lovely place, tasteful and welcoming, particularly nice New Zealand waitress who couldn't do enough to make us welcome. Going back for a meal tomorrow night.
E. G.
The Orchard is one of the best pubs in the area. Great staff, great atmosphere, and wonderful food, the steak pie is fantastic asis the rest of the menu on offer. Special thanks to Sheila and Kelly, as Tony the Tiger would say "there great".
A. H.
Quality gastropub with a modernised aesthetic on something more traditional. Bustling towards the weekend but also great for mid-fancy lunches.
Includes a healthy mix of the larger and the more common local beers, with a good range to choose from. Typically only one or two ciders on tap, but more are available bottled.
The food is generally excellent with well presented pub classics. If eating with groups larger than 4 I'd recommend booking a table in the less trafficked dining area.
Seating is comfy all round, but it can get busy in the bar on Friday nights where you will likely be standing if you haven't booked ahead.
C. B.
Best fish and chips and meat pie ever. Typical English pub vibe. Team were super friendly and helpful. Also had an excellent selection of kiwi ciders!
A. L.
Excellent food served with good humour. No rush from staff but service very efficient.
J. H.
Lovely restaurant with large bar. Large selection of beer, cider and wine. Stellar menu. The Steak and Ale pie as well as the flank steak were cooked perfectly. Wonderful staff as well.
D. A.
Spacious pub with many nice beers inc Hoegaarden wheat beer, Bitter & Twisted and many more. Food was also nice, where starters can be upgraded to main dishes. Service was very efficient, and helpful.
L.
Great pub. Food is always up to a high standard, especially the vegan Shepherd's pie! Staff are pleasant, upbeat and friendly. Would highly recommend!
S. B.
Went for a lunch once with office colleagues. Great burgers and attentive service. The chips were a bit over fried (Read burnt) though.
I. M.
Excellent gastro pub in canonmills. Food is amazing and always large portions. Also reasonably priced so cant really go wrong. I have to recommend either the seafood risotto or the burgers, delicious! The bar itself is always fairly quiet so good for a quiet pint.
R. H.
Great to be back at the Orchard again. Fabulous service and a menu filled with great choices of starters and mains. The staff are great - you always get a warm welcome and service is attentive without being intrusive.
I. A.
Great food and atmosphere! I had the pork belly and my company the duck leg, both were delicious, well presented and the meat was crispy on the outside but soft and succulent on the inside.
C. P.
The Orchard was the first pub I visited when I moved into the area, and for that reason it will always be special to me. But putting my sentimental musings to one side, The Orchard is a great pub, with some lovely locals and some mighty fine food.
The Orchard serves some pretty delicious pub grub. Think homemade steak pie with creamy mash and a rich gravy or your classic fish and chips. It’s all very tasty and reasonably priced.
On the drinks front, there is a decent wine list and a good selection of beers and ciders. The atmosphere encompasses a local pub, with those on a first name basis with the staff standing at the bar, always up for a chat when you go up to place your order. The other nice thing about The Orchard is the mix in ages. From couples in their early 20s to people that could tell you a thing or two about the local area, everyone is welcome.
A great little pub that I’m happy is on the doorstep, I would thoroughly recommend putting it on your list of places to visit.
M. B.
Fantastic friendly staff, good beer and good food.
Staff are constantly cleaning tables, chairs etching, making you feel safe during these covid times.
Highly recommend the Orchard
I. M.
Good atmosphere and friendly staff. Busy pub with a decent choice of drinks available. Pub also servers food although I did not have any and the pub is also family friendly as there were people in with their kids having meals. Nothing fancy as a pub but it appears to have a good vibe about it
K. H.
The Orchard is a classy pub in Canonmills. With a nice atmosphere and squishy sofas (if you're lucky!) it's a great place for a drink or some tasty dinner. The pork belly is delicious, a definite favourite of mine! Service is good and prices are reasonable for decent portions and tasty grub.
S.
My work local. Friendly helpful staff. Nice range of beers on offer. Great food and fabulous chips. If you don't eat anything else, order some chips!!!
Z. P.
The Orchard is one of those bars you can really rely on... the food is well above pub standard and never fails to impress, there's a mix of comfy couches and little nooks for sitting/sprawling, and the staff always seem to remember you no matter how long it's been since you've been in. In fact, you can be sure of a bit of friendly chat, whatever the time of day. Add into the mix a great stock of drinks, huge windows and even a few seats outside when it's sunny – and basically, it's a good go-to place. One thing to note though, the bar is near to a few large financial services offices. This isn't a bad thing, it just means you'll encounter whole teams having post-work drinks so it can seem like you've joined someone else's work night out!
T. A.
Nice spot, really accommodating! Seperate Gluten Free Menu, fish & chip option delicious!
Gluten free IPA on tap, what more can you ask for...
C. R.
Good range of drinks, nice atmosphere and although I’ve not eaten there, the food looks good! The staff are really friendly too.
S. M.
Pleasant atmosphere. I stopped in for a drink to while away some time.
N. D.
Service was lovely, very homely and welcoming pub. Food was amazing and fresh! Will definitely visit again :)
c.
We stayed in a hotel within two minutes walk so nipped in for a bite to eat on our first night. The staff were friendly and helpful, the food was great and the atmosphere was brill. We liked it so much we went back for more.
C. H.
Excellent food and a lovely atmosphere. The staff are upbeat and polite. I'd really recommend it!
J. C.
The orchard bar is excellent the food is 10 out of 10 top-notch and the staff are so friendly and this pub I really like the orchard I recommend a sticky toffee pudding because it’s so delicious and yummy it is the best food ever 👍 …
W. M.
Good selection of draught beer and whisky. Friendly staff making the Orchard a great wee pub. Not changed too much from the days it was called 'The Northern Bar'.
e. e.
Really nice friendly waitress; bar ladies. Chef you did a fantastic job of the steak pie. Must have been extra good for me to leave a fiver tip.
a. h.
Friendly helpful staff nice pint
G. M.
Lovely pub with great food and friendly staff.
Nicely laid out with a family area, dining area and a pub area.
Lovely big tables for large groups.
S. L.
Really nice, spacious pub in this part of town. Kids meals are generous. They have a TV for football, but it doesn't dominate the pub. Bit of everything to like here really.
T. O. A. O.
Very nice staff, we felt very welcomed. Wide range of different beers and ciders. Nice pub where we would definitely go to again.
t. S.
This is probably Edinburghs best pub. We have been several times and the food is great, good selection of beers but it's the staff that make it so great. Always happy to help and give great service
E. C.
Staff are super lovely and happy to help. Good options for drinks
V. L.
Really tasty dinner. Quick service, staff were very helpful when it came to recommendations! Very friendly pub.
M. A.
Nice bar with a decent atmosphere. Often extremely crowded on a Friday evening and drinks can be very £££. Would expect it to be a little cheaper since its out of the city centre. Staff extremely pleasant.
S. K.
Great food and service.
L. B.
Heaven on earth. I couldn't get through my working week without. Rosie's Pig is my cider of choice and it's regularly on tap. Friendly staff brighten up your day on even the most dreich of Edinburgh days.

The Orchard, Edinburgh.
We went there on a Saturday, early afternoon. The Orchard is a very cosy and welcoming place, with a laid back atmosphere. Waitresses and manager offered a very good and friendly customer service.
The pub was rather busy with a couple of big tables with parents and well behaved toddlers & babies celebrating someone’s birthdays. Because of that, our food took longer than usual to arrive at our table, but it was understandable.
I got the Steak and Merlot Pie with hand cut chips. My friends got the Ciabatta sandwich with ham, cheese and pickles accompanied with crisps, a 6.5 out of 10 treat as they told me. The Steak and Merlot Pie flavours were properly balanced and you can enjoy the red wine aftertaste. Also it was filled with abundant chucks of tender beef, which was a plus. All washed down with some Staropramen beer. All in all a very positive experience and, yes, we’ll be back.
M. G.
Fantastic food. Extraordinary delicious. The waiting time was reasonable and the staff working there are very nice people. Will go there again
I. S.
Excellent little place, hidden in North Queensferry.
Highly recommended.
Food outstanding. Coffee (cappuccino) was not good, tasted water
G.
Lovely food and service.
D. M.
Excellent! Best food I've had in Edinburgh, great service and beer selection. Lovely quite and laid back atmosphere.
C. A.
Superb food, well worth a visit if in the area.
Haggis fritters great, steak pie superb and vegi option of sweet potato with chilli beans also highly recommended
Staying at the student halls round the corner - ideal
N. D.
Nice place, warm staff and good menu but our food came a bit late and my pie was worse the wear for it. Would try it again...probably just an off day.
G. W.
Food is great -very good pub grub- I cant see past the steak pie as is service. They are very welcoming if children.
p.
Friendly, clean, cozy. Good hot chocolate.
J. C.
Just spent a very enjoyable evening in the Orchard. Excellent meal and wide range of drinks available. Service quick, friendly and cheerful. Thanks.
a. J.
Popped in for a quick drink. The staff were wonderful and the bar is lovely.
R. H.
Nice atmosphere. Food was okay.
But never go there during rush hour!! We went during lunch break, and we had to wait around 45-50 minutes for the food!
K. M.
The Orchard is a down to earth pub in the leafy Canonmills area. Top picks from the menu include the steak and ale pie and, on a Sunday, the classic roast dinner. The staff are friendly and the food is good value for money.
b. w.
Neighborhood, elevated bar-food, restaurant. it might be difficult to get seating at times, great selection of beers & ales, food is generous and delicious, pastrami sandwich with pickles and chips, avocado & roasted sandwiches, wood pigeon salad with rocket and lentil/ tomato, risotto Verde, all excellent, if you still have room for for some ice cream (my favorite salted caramel)
A. K.
Really nice traditional pub with a modern twist. Staff is very friendly and food is very tasty. My burger was a bit burnt tho.

Picture this. Torrential rain on a dark Edinburgh night. Three women, literally soaked to the skin & completely disorientated, are unable to locate their digs but find themselves opposite the Orchard. There the staff really go the extra mile, call these women a cab, allow them to sit and wait in the dry and, when a cab arrives, go out themselves in the hoolie to check it's the correct one. Thank you so much to the kind lad who did this for us. Your actions were hugely appreciated.
