Superb tacos. Just had the beef shin and oxtail tacos today, had the fish ones too. Fish bites and fries are amazing, lovely little orange zest mayo along side. Absolutely delicious! Great bar staff, nice draft lagers. My usual once a month meal to myself on my route home.

Nipped in for dinner with my parents who were visiting me. The staff are lovely and managed to fit us in for food even though it was quite busy. We were blown away by everything we ordered, the flavour combinations were delicious! Would highly recommend!

A very nice place with an African theme where you can have a wide variety of beers and other drinks. The waitresses are very nice and Cheff Elías is very good, he left the kitchen to say goodbye to us and thank us, very nice detail, a hundred place per hundred recommended.

After spending 2 afternoons in this establishment I feel like it's a home from home. I booked one of the function rooms for a shindig and they have been very responsive to all questions that I have raised. The staff certainly know how to prep a qwality drink as well, mate. Their coffees are some of the best I've had this year!

Great atmosphere, if a bit raucous at busier times. Dog friendly and popular with dog owners of all sizes. When busy expect to wait for a table, but highly recommend you do. The popcorn mussels are probably the best in Edinburgh. Good beers sourced locally and imported, chance is high they will have something you'll like.

Well worth seeking out this old / updated pub. It is amazing that they manage to produce the food they do when working in a small area behind the bar near the front window. Good selection of beers too. Portions are huge but you must ALWAYS leave room for the the mussel popcorn if it is on as it is fantastic!

Went last night to meet friends there, it was my first visit. The place is really cool , the food is really good and the drinks were nice. The staff were nice and very helpful, knowledgeable. Would definitely recommend the place if you want to try a new place also one of the few places where the nachos are actually tasty and worth it !

First time I've been to the Safari. The decor is quirky with animals all over the place. The food was delicious and vegan, vegetarian, gluten free were widely available, most under a tenner. The speciality jungle sauce was inspired! Went great with the fries. 😋 They had a choice of rosé which were too difficult to choose between so we had both. The service was quick, accommodating and very friendly. With good company I couldn't ask for more really! 😇🙏🏼

Amazing food! We ordered when we were having drinks at the Bellfield brewery. The gojuchang chicken and pulled pork tacos were so fresh and flavoursome. Will definitely be getting food from them again.

Great food and cocktails! Fast selling daily specials and lots of Gluten Free and Vegan options too that are packed full of flavour. Fairly priced and not too expensive 🙂 You can find quiz, bands and workshops happening here too. Nice vibe and dog friendly - never a disappointment!

This pub is quirky and seemed a fun place to go. It serves a good range of drink and offers an excellent range of food especially for vegans & vegetarian diets whilst offering meat options too. I love the jungle/ safari theme rustic look to the pub. The atmosphere was fun and the bar staff good natured which added to the joviality. We happen to be there for the quiz night with "Dr Dave" (who goes around other pubs with his well organized quizzes). We came last though 😂

Excellent experience! The food was great, atmosphere relaxed and laid back, the service friendly and efficient. My wife enjoyed her beer (unfortunately I am off the booze for a while - say no more) and there was a good choice of beers bottled and draught. Interesting cocktails too but it was a lunchtime visit. Amazing staff who are friendly approachable and always helpful to customers. The team are first class and really make the casual atmosphere. The food is awesome and the menu changes frequently with new dishes added while some of the favourites are retained as a result it's always fresh and interesting. The back room is great for kids with toys and colouring pens to keep the little ones occupied. Bring back the Japanese chicken burger it was awesome.

Great food, a bit pricey for the area but worth it. Excellent range of craft ales, and all the usual drinks. Quirky decor, the deer head on the wall is plywood! Staff are charming, helpful and polite, but also efficient. Only let down slightly by the gents toilet, I've seen a lot worse but the rather basic urinal wasn't draining very well.

The food is great, they have gluten-free beer, and it's lively without being too loud. Only problems are the very low toilets (hard to get back up with dodgy knees), and it's a very tight squeeze to get in when it's busy. Also not really wheelchair accessible, as it's such a tight squeeze and the loos aren't suitable.

I often come here for food and a friendly drink. Great menu with a lot of creative variations on the regular pub food. Steamed rice buns with fillings, truffle oil chips, great hot dogs and an awesome jungle curry are just some of my highlights. They also do a great Sunday brunch. Staff are friendly, although it can get a little lively on Friday and Saturday night, but who can fault them for that :)

It’s not the size of the kitchen that matters, best pub grub in Edinburgh. Consistently good. Chef T brought some inspirational dishes continued now he’s left. Never had a bad meal here. Tastiest tacos too need a mention as always bursting with amazing flavours!

We had the vegetarian curry platter and buttermilk chicken, we scooped up every little bit even tho the portion sizes were huge! Also a great chilled atmosphere with nice music, nice bar staff, nice location and just very nice for a weekly meal or weekend drinks with friends.

I found this place by chance walking through the park, as the area around it is almost industrial I wasn't expecting to see anywhere nice. The food is generally "fast food" style with a fusion/gastronomic twist. We had one of the hot dogs and the crispy saffron potatoes which were amazing. The servings are a decent size and the staff are super nice and friendly. I definitely would come back again, I just wish they were where I live!

Love the Safari Lounge, a great local bar, with good food & drink. Amazed to see recent reviews about being anti visitors. The Safari has employed many nationalities including Spanish & welcomed visitors and is popular with many Spanish residents in the city. The posts from a group about being not welcome is strange as think we were present when they were in, they seem to enjoy themselves, rather loudly - but so what - and left without any sign of being unhappy.

The Safari lounge is a cute little gastro pub with some of the best beers I had on my travels. Not only was the beer great, but so was the food and service, especially the sticky toffee pudding. If you're lucky there will be a lovely dog around to give a pat as well.

Some really tasty food with a great variety of beers, wines and cocktails. The food is generally very good, hard to pick a bad meal. That being said, the fish tacos, are under-seasoned, and I would consider fairly bland. With a little spice possibly in the form of ginger, salt and a light but tangy sauce, would make the dish. Also a decent hefeweizen couldn't go a miss!

A bit cramped in the bar area but plenty room in the back. Three real ales taps, which are always in excellent condition. Big selling point to this place is the food especially the dogs, which I would consider to be the best in Edinburgh. Update: First review made 2 years ago and this place continues to amaze. Menu changes on regular basis but the food continues to excel. No dogs at the moment but hopefully they will be back soon. Was not convinced that their cask ales would last but they continue to serve up an excellent choice of superbly kept ales. Will update in 2 years time when I hope Google has given the ability to assign 6 stars.

Pleasant friendly and spacious, a good range of reasonably priced beer and delicious food at acceptable prices and a range of bookable rooms at no cost. You could very easily end up some place worse and it's on so many bus routes that avoiding it would be a challenge, well worth a visit!

This place is newly done and is something different for the area! Went here for a casual meal one week night and was surprised to find the place packed. Nabbed a table in front of the bar (and near the door, so was a bit draughty) and were happy to watch our food being prepared by the enthusiastic chef in the tiny kitchen at the end of the bar! We had a meat platter which was amazing, we practically licked it clean, and will definitely be back!

Ordered from the Bellfield Brewery Delivery menu (where Safari Lounge deliver food to your nominated table down the road at Belffield, usually in under an hour). Food was hot when it arrived and super tasty and other drinkers in the brewery looked on with obvious envy. The Korean wings had a satisfying chilli hit and were my favourite. Everything served in cardboard boxes and with wooden cutlery so not a lot of plastic being used. Bellfield have their own beer on tap and a full bar of wines, softies and spirits so something for everyone. Safari Lounge is great for sit-in and this is a nice alternative.

This bar is really good, you will fine great staff and an excellent atmosphere. This is a good area as well! There is a KFC like 5 minutes away, you can literally just go over and pick up a cheeky Mighty Bucket for one! I remember I got a KFC and i was really enjoying it and it made my day. I really like chiken so it's quite easy to please me. I usually ask to have chiken legs instead of the other one the bone pieces. I sometimes get gravy for my chips but that's a lot of calories... Anyway it's a good bar!

A slight detour from town if you don't live in the area, but well worth the effort as they have the best hot dogs in town! There's a large private room at the back which sometimes holds yoga, pilates or zumba classes. Service is always super friendly and very laid back. I'm happy to call this place my local~!

I am a regular customer at the safari lounge since 2015. The food has never stopped being one of the best pub gastro offer in the whole Edinburgh, the deco is friednly, relaxed and pretty 'wild' with its collection of safari animals and crocodile seats. They make good teas and chai lattes, the beer selection is definitely varied , well researched and at times experimental. Great place for gigs, the Monday quiz keeps you going through the week and I hope to see the Wednesday night open mic back on. Excellent local business.

The safari lounge is quite an apt name as much of your time will be spent wondering if you wouldn't perhaps be having more fun inside a car looking out at other patrons. Alongside a mix of entirely normal, friendly young people enjoying their local bar in Abbey Hill there is also a health does of chavs and undesirables who frequent this establishment at all times of the day. On my first visit I was joined at lunch by two local drunks. The second time I was in was to meet someone already there, we had a couple of drinks as its very good value but then left after getting fed up moving away from smelly people. The staff try their best but I wonder why they let so many people in who are not buying drinks and wouldn't make it in to other local establishments. This place is okay at best. Try and go with a group and you won't be disturbed by people looking for '20p for the bus' as often.

Small local bar in the Abbeyhill area near Meadowbank. Live music often takes place downstairs or just park your bum in the quieter ‘snug’ area at the back. Look out for the safari themed artwork on the walls. Staff are friendly and will suggest some of the great menu items available from the open kitchen on display.

3 stars is for the cramped old pub with a half hearted redecoration (when a refit was essential) but the food was definitely 5 star I chose the vegan fish and chips, a lightly spiced aubergine stuffed with dhal masala, was fried in a gram flour batter which hit the fish n chips spot my appetite was craving for, the side salsa and salad was refreshing and cleansed the palate after the batter and spice , the house lager was sweet and refreshing too, well done safari lounge for having a chef who effortlessly makes awesome vegan and gluten free food, please lose the art on the back room walls ;-)

You go away for almost two years, come back, and old man boozers on London Road are transformed into leopard print swathed child friendly spaces with real ale and hot dogs.
