What can I say that hasn't already been covered in the other comments and reviews!... This is a proper pub! We were on a long weekender, our 2nd trip to Edinburgh and had just spent 4 hours at the Castle. We wandered down the Royal Mile looking for a place to get a bite to eat, but couldn't decide where to go. So, we thought we'd stop, sit down and have a browse on-line for places to eat over a quick pint. We 'popped in' in here at about 3pm... We fell out of the door about 5 hours later. A great local guy was playing some covers on his guitar, rock, blues, country and the place just filled up with locals and returning visitors. It wasn't long before the entire gaff was belting out the vocals, dancing around the floor, getting to know each other and just having a damn good time! We will be returning to Edinburgh next year, it's a great city, and now we know that this pub will 100% forever be on our "Oh, we'll just pop in for a quickie..." ;-) Go there! Enjoy!

Great little pub/bar to pop in just off the Royal Mile. Good prices on alcohol and a lovely relaxed atmosphere. We were lucky enough to pop in on Christmas Eve and watch the talents of singer/songwriter Kevin Gore. Definitely consider popping in here for a couple of drinks.

One of the best run bars I have ever been in. Professional and friendly staff like Triona, Al and Paul. Music twice a night. If you get a chance to see Mary Ann go for it, she is brilliant. Also great that no nonsense accepted here as Al will sort it immediately. Loved this place and would go back to Edinburgh just for this pub.

It was our first time visiting this place and the guy who greeted us made the visit memorable. Tall, big bearded guy. He was so funny and welcoming. The pub had made a great effort with their outdoor seating, which we tried out but found too windy the day we visited, so we moved inside. It's a nice pub with great staff and very close to the train station. My only gripe is that they had run out of white wine! But just after lockdown, there's bound to be some teething troubles. I would visit again. Cost about £4.50 each for a bottle of Rekorderlig cider and a red wine.

Been here every visit to Edinburgh, summer, autumn and Hogmanay. Each night has been brilliant. Small pub with such a huge atmosphere. Locals and tourists mix great and we've always felt welcome. With live music, jukebox and all round chat it's always hard to leave early. Prices good too.

Living on this side of town, I required a new local. Cue the Scotsman's Lounge. A small, friendly bar on Cockburn Street, where a mix of regulars, passing trade and tourists are made very welcome. Priced well, considering where it's situated. Live music every day, with a mixture of local guitarists play and sing adding to the atmosphere... Absolutely worth a visit if you like traditional pubs.

We called on our first visit to Edinburgh for a cold one end ended up having a few. Yes it was busy but getting served wasn't an issue. Good atmosphere and young guy playing a guitar was pretty good. Overall a decent pub and wouldn't hesitate to return.

We arrived for food and drink . There was a table for 4 people where we would like to have sat down. However ,there was one man sitting alone having a pint. We didn't have a proper place to sit, we had to sit on two small stalls. Generally ,In some places where some people are sitting alone,there are gently asked to move to a smaller table to give opportunity for groups of people to sit down! This didn't happen in this place. He was not asked to move by staff . And he stayed there for quite a long time, drinking his once in a lifetime same pint of beer. They were not serving food and we didn't stay very long ,but long enough to wait for this selfish person to move away which didn't happen.

Nice dive pub with live entertainment. I loved all the interesting items used to decorate the room. Flags on the ceilings, photos and memorabilia on the walls will keep you interested while enjoying a cool cocktail after a day of sightseeing. Live entertainment is usually available also. If you don't like this place, just walk a feet to another bar!

A very pleasant bar, on Cockburn Street near the Royal Mile, so a seat at the window offers nice views while enjoying a drink. The decor is nice and the staff are very friendly indeed. Good range of beers and spirits, reasonably priced. The toilets are very clean - something I always regard as a good litmus paper for the overall quality of a place. I had a Maltsmith Lager - one of the best pints I've had in a very long time. I HIGHLY recommend this bar for a visit. Thanks Scotsman's!

Simply an easy place to find! You walk in, get a Scotch and enjoy the company of your fellow Scottsmen along with great live music. It has a center bar with bar stool seating, table sitting and side wall stools as well. A small quaint space with a big brawny Scottish vibe. What I loved is how the singers introduced themselves with a heavy thick Scottish accent and then one if them sang in American English without his accent. How do they do that? 🤷‍♀️ He was so good too! Right on the mark! Had a great timexwatching the sport on the tv and enjoying a nice Scotch. Check this place out. You'll enjoy it. At last, the Scotsman's Lounge has emerged from 1973! New, 1993 decor (with age-appropriate till), smart flooring and tables, hopefully (not) to attract tourists. Last bastion of old Edinburgh giving the finger to transient incomers. Better than it used to be but less so than it could be, a must for Edinburghers looking for a decent pint away from the inflated nano tourist flotsam bourgeoisie. V.
