Reviews of The World's End
A. A.
Great place to eat and have a drink. Highly recommend. Really friendly, it looks great inside and outside and there is more information about how the pub got it's name! The food was genuinely the best I've had in a long while. We had steak and ale pie with buttered mash potato and a cabbage wedge. It was so tasty and desert was great aswell. Seriously cannot praise it highly enough. John and Marcus were our servers and the service was absolutely fantastic. Food and drinks were also served quickly and it was very affordable. 100% would go again.
H. G.
Excellent beer, burger, fries and Onion rings, was great. Fish and chips, is been the best so far, literally FISH, no fish finger or strip. Recommend this place. Graeme and James were great, they took care of us. Great service and great food.

Every time we visit Edinburgh we visit The World's End, several times. It's our favourite pub in Edinburgh. The food is great and the beer is excellent, especially the World's End bitter. The hosts are always welcoming, friendly and accomodating, they can't do enough for you. This time Lauren and Blair looked after us brilliantly. Over the years we've come away with t shirts, fridge magnets and glasses. We will be back. Thank you.
K. H.
Stopped in here for some lunch and a quiet drink. The chicken platter was delicious and just enough for 2 people. The worlds end ale is definitely worth a try. The bar man had great knowledge of whiskeys and we enjoyed just sitting there and listening to him explaining the different types to people as they tried them. Will definitely be going again
J. D.
Great pub! Fun music, not too expensive and friendly staff. We also ate here and were not disappointed. It was really good.
P. D.
My sister and I had dinner and some drinks here on our first night in Edinburgh. The food was delicious and the staff were fabulous! Malcolm and Marcus were so nice that we went back on our last night for some drinks. Malcolm was there again and was very helpful and even gave me a lot of advice for my trip to Skye the next morning...driving tips and an excellent place to stop on the way, The Green Welly Stop. We really appreciated the extra care and friendly service!! Thank you very much!
K. L.
A historic pub on the Royal Mile with a good range of locally brewed beers on menu. The Innis & Gunn lager we had was malty and slightly sweet, and I was rather surprised by the ale which was crisp and refreshing.
Nice pub food. We had a Haggis & Potato Pie. Probably a typical Scottish dish which is actually another form of haggis neeps & tatties, with cheddar as topping, followed by layers of mashed potato, haggis and turnip cubes underneath, complimented with savoury whisky sauce. We love the haggis here, simply mild without any earthy or livery taste.
Most of other customers ordered Fish & Chips during our meal, and we had mixed feeling about it. Impressively crispy and light batter, however the haddock tasted a bit bland – it was not really dry, something probably went wrong before it was fried. They are definitely capable to deliver better ones.
D. R. E.
We came here for a tow people's dinner and we were extremely happy.
Best fish and chips I had and a excellent customer service from Marcus and specially James.
Price was more than worth it, we will be back, Gracias!
B. D.
The best pie (haggis) we ever had! Pork belly was awesome too! Really nice place and friendly staff. Definitely recommended.

On a business trip, we were strolling through Edinburgh in the evening to look for a good pub with local beers. We ended up in the World’s End which was a good choice. It’s a good mix with locals and tourists. The beer is very good. No barrier free access.
G. M.
As a fan of the movie, I had to check this place out, and it was awesome! Great service, epic food and cozy atmosphere. Definitely a good place to stop while in Old City.
E.
Service here was lovely. While I was up in Scotland I wanted to try my first Whiskey. The guy on the bar was only too happy to walk me through all the differences in notes and allow me to smell all the corks.
Settled on one from Edinburgh as it felt right being in the place. There are places to sit inside and out and they also seem to have a very good smelling menu. Can't complain one bit.
R. P.
Had a lovely experience at The World’s End. Bartender Graham was super engaging, funny and honest. Got us to like Thistly Cross cider and exposed us to Brockmans Gin, which is fabulous! Had a lovely dinner. Our server Ian was lovely, attentive and helpful. He recommended Botonist lavender gin which was also fabulous. Food was great. Nothing was bad. Would highly recommend.
G. H.
Nice, but busy pub. Had to wait 40 minutes for a table for eating, but that's not their fault. Tasty fish'n chips, that was served very quickly after ordering. Good portion, and the stout recommended to go with the fish was nice.
V. B.
Received a warm welcome as soon as we came in the door and told it would be 45 mins to get a table, which was understandable since the dining room has less than 25 seats and it was supper time. We opted to wait in the bar and was called for a table in less than 20 mins. While waiting I was able to take in all the history and decor of the bar. I ordered the steak & ale pie and loved the rich gravy, tender steak and flaky pastry. Be sure to peruse their desserts as the stucky toffee pudding is to die for.
R.
After walking the streets of Edinburgh, we sat in and enjoyed some drinks and classic pub grub at The World’s End. Great Fish & Chips and the Lasagne was very good as well. Lovely ambiance and history within interior walls which provides some historical background to the building and name.
L. R.
Went there at the beginning of April. Fantastic staff, great atmosphere, good beer and very good advice for whiskies. We went there three or four times. I highly recommand this pub and restaurant. Hope to go back some day.
M. Q.
Fantastic food, drink and service. We visited the day after the Queen died and though it was busy we felt like locals and were treated extremely well.
Blair and James were great!
T. E.
We loved our experience at Worlds End. Graeme and James took great care of us. The food was delicious and the atmosphere warm and welcoming. Can’t wait to visit again.
G. T.
My friends told me the best fish and chips is in The World’s End, and they were right. Crisped to perfection on the outside, and meat was tender on the inside. Hot wings were a great side to have too.
S.
Great hot toddy, good haggis bon bons, some of the best fish and chips I've had in years. Solid service from John and James as well. Highly recommended, especially as it's just off royal mile so it isn't super packed.
A. L.
Food was good (sausage and mash and the scotch egg). Atmosphere a bit less than other pubs but still enjoyable. Good story to the place
P. G.
When they bring out the fish and chips they aren't kidding around! Big Fish. Fitting that the World's End pub is down the street from Adam Smith's statue. The Royal Mile was a fantasic walk as well.
C. P.
Loved their fish & chips!! Worth waiting :)
Try their tap beer too! We had Innis & Gunn, Peroni, Guiness and Belhaven and they were all good :)
S. P.
The best Macaroni and cheese I have ever had! It was incredibly cheese, and the cheese was so creamy. The pub is quaint and the staff is very kind! We were served by Holly and Malcom, and they were amazing.
Would come again, 100%
N. M. (.
Had the steak & ale with mashed potatoes, and also got to try to Irm Bru. The food was really good but I am not a fan of Irm Bru, tastes like bubble gum. The staff were my favorite thing about this place, always available, super nice, polite and funny and it just made the experience way better.
R. R.
We had an amazing experience with the World's end. There was an hour wait originally but we were sat after 20 min. Food was phenomenal and service was friendly. Thanks End of the World!!!
S. M.
After a good hike up Arthur's Seat we came across this place called The Worlds End.
It has a lot of history around it being named such so you have to go and see it for yourself to understand.
I fell in love with the set up the beautiful bar the atmosphere and ambience perfect to just sit and enjoy your meal!
The hosts were absolutely fantastic so welcoming and friendly! Accommodated us for Lunch and Drinks!
We ordered what you cab see in the picture and the food was superb.
I must say this is a MUST STOP on your way around if you looking for somewhere to eat!
We shall be back for more....
H. C.
Had the haggis fritters and scotch egg.
The scotch egg was okay, but I wished the egg itself is the Hugh quality orangy color, runny egg yolk. I think they overcooked the egg.
Haggis fritters were nice, but this is my third time to have haggis in my life so I can’t tell.
K. S.
The Fish & Chips...The huge piece of fish...flakey & delicious. Apple pie for dessert...The place smells like "Food Heaven" when you enter...because it is 😋 …
C. B.
Our favorite pub in Edinburgh! Fantastic service, great selection of whisky and beer, and the best fish and chips we've had in the city.
M. M.
Great manager? If he was. Extremely helpful and friendly ( to another customer, I saw it) & in general. Made the atmosphere upbeat and welcoming. Nothing was too much of a problem. As a chef people like this are an asset to any company. Wish I could name check but probably obvious. Give the guy a raise.
l. k.
Amazing pub, great food, the staff are exceptional.
We went back every day of our visit to Edinburgh.
Manuel
J. T.
Not been in for about 10 years - part of it has been turned into a sit down restaurant which means it's quite a squeeze now. Nice beer and whisky selection but aside from its historical value a little small now. The food looked great however and they had to turn people away due to demand which is always a good sign.
C. S.
This has to be one of the best 'pub meals' I have ever had!! I ordered the steak pie and it was so lovely that we came back later in the week and had it all again!
Would thoroughly recommend this small but mighty pub! Lauren and Marcus who served us were both very lovely and efficient.
P.s the haggis fritters are SO worth trying ... I fell in love with haggis in this pub.
r. s.
We had a lovely lunch here - steak & ale pie and mash (my other half had chips), with cabbage and proper gravy. Everything tasted great. The menu choice was good, everything that came out looked amazing, nice service from Marcus & Ryan, and good atmosphere too. We'll definitely visit again next time we're in Edinburgh.
A.
Staff and food were wonderful! The haggis and potato pie was amazing. But the real star of the show is the haggis fritters. My husband and I had never eaten haggis before until our visit and now are huge fans! Thank you for a wonderful time!
Our visit was on 4 July 22.
D. R. V. S.
Attended by Marcus and James, the food was awesome and the beer excellent! Sure to be back soon!
J. B.
Great food, great atmosphere, surprisingly good prices.
M. C.
A great spot for a pint or a G&T! Super friendly staff, and welcoming to tourists. The bartender that helped me order my drink had great knowledge on local gins, and definitely crafted one of my favourite G&T's while in Edinburgh. Highly recommend stopping by if you're in and around the area.
T. R.
It's a great pub with a very cool history/story that you can read at the beginning of the menu :)
It's a bit touristy, but in a good way, and they were very nice and accomodating, finding us a table for drinks and a quick bite
They have a great selection of single malt whisky, but you have to ask for the menu.
Georgia and James were awesome, very helpful and extremely quick with our orders. Thanks for the good time!
A. N.
I went there in the afternoon for a very late lunch and the place was already very busy. The atmosphere was great. I had the meat pie and it was delicious. The staff was very nice and the service was fast, thanks to Malcolm, James and Marcus. I would recommend, even if it is for just a drink. The interior of the bar is iconic, worth the detour. I don't think you need a reservation, but you might wait a little during peak hours.
N. F.
Fantastic night out, great atmosphere. Manager (James I think) was super friendly, very welcoming and staff couldn't do enough to suit our group needs.
Definitely worth a visit
I. F.
I can recommend this place great service great atmosphere very good beer.
T. S.
Good pub, it's at a busy location and isn't the cheapest but atmosphere is great, seating limited and helpful staff
A. F.
Wonderful pub despite being in a tourist area. Great staff and excellent selections for scotch whisky
C. _.
You shouldn’t miss out this one they know what they are doing, great portions recommend!
J. T.
Phoned in advance and was told they didn't take reservations, but they still set aside a table for us that was ready when we arrived. Service was very friendly and the food was excellent. It would have been nice if the Christmas specials were pointed out, but that would be my only criticism. Would 100% visit again!
R. w. H.
Quick and friendly service. Warm, delicious, hearty food.
S. N.
Went in for a meal, very friendly staff, especially Graeme and James. Our food was really delicious and they had a good selection of drinks. Would definitely recommend !
P. S.
Must have visit on the Royal Mile.
Real tasty food and good beer in the tap.
O. M. A. P.
Deliciuos food and cool beer in a tipic Scottish pub. The staff is a rather kind.
L. W.
Professional, funny and handsome barman haha who made us feel welcome. The only downside was a bit pricey but I guess pretty normal for Edinburgh. I didn't eat there but it was busy for food.
B. J.
A lovely pub, with a character, and a past. Great choice of beers too
D. R.
Very Nice place to drink a beer! Good environment. Because we were at Dinner time it was smelling fried food a lot!
Good price for Beers.
A. D.
Managed to get a table straight away, went for the fish and chips. Absolutely amazing food, would recommend to everyone to try and go when in Edinburgh! Thanks to Ryan and James!
F. a. F.
This place is the spirit of Edinburgh! Great food (vegetarian options yeah!) and knowledgeable staff. Even if you see a line it’s well worth waiting. Having been to Edinburgh twice this was the top of my list on both trips. I promise this will be the only place you want to drink!
M. L.
We visited due to the good reviews online and had high hopes for the fish and chips. The location is nicely located right off the Royal Mile and the place itself is cozy.
However, the fish and chips were rather underwhelming. They did not taste horrible, but were not just up to what we had hoped for. In fact, we had fish and chips at a different place a day prior and that dish beat theirs out of the water. The beer was good though.
I am always a little nervous when going to a pub/ restaurant right next to a main tourist attraction. In the future I will stick to my gut feeling :) good for a quick beer stop, would not recommend to eat there.
J.
Great local pub that has a lot of history and fame both from the movie and from when it marked the end of old Edinburgh's historic town limits. They have their own special World's End IPA brew which is light and fragrant, very drinkable and agreeable. The selection of scotch was decent. Their haggis fritters were delicious, as were the sausage rolls. The chicken wings in particular were excellent as each "wing" really consisted of a meaty wing flat and wing drumette. Staff were friendly and service was good.
J. J.
Incredible food and tasty drink selection. Recommend you go early. The staff is delightful but the menu tends to sell out fast and the wait can be brutal. The fish & chips is enormous and the steak & ale pie is not to be missed. But save room for the cheesecake, the shortbread crust is a game changer.
H. H.
This was the best food and atmosphere!!!we have been travelling for 35 days and both my kids stated it was the best burger by far well done Marcus and Blair
C. G.
Fab pub! Very friendly atmosphere and great staff! Highly recommend for a nice beer! Dog friendly too!
R. M.
Pub with a lot of history. Small but quaint pub. Food and beverages were excellent. Fish and chips were unique in that the fish was a entire fillet, battered and deep fried.
E. B.
Fantastic food, great beer and gin, good time! Definitely visit again! Thank you!
S. H.
Everything you could want in a pub. Centuries old, good beer, plenty of food, music and friendly staff.
We enjoyed the atmosphere twice in one day, we liked it that much.
If you like dark beers, go for the Belhaven Black Scottish Stout. A meal in every pint.
C. S.
We went here to experience the scottish pub. It's a little cozy restaurant/pub. This place is along the same route to Holyrood Palace.
Micheal who assisted us and got our orders was very nice and friendly. He even suggested some food from the meny. He make sure that we're having a good time. The food and dessert was superb.👍👍👍 worth the price. The service is top👍👍👍.
It's a must to visit place while you are in Edinburgh.
K. F.
Great pub and amazing staff. Sorry to say to say I didn’t get his name but the man seating people on New Year’s Eve is a absolute gem!
K. H.
Fun history behind this pub on the Royal Mile. Be sure to arrive early and be prepared to wait if you want to have dinner; seating is limited and it seems to be quite popular! You can order drinks at the bar while you wait. The food was delicious and drinks were good!
M. S.
A great spot full of history and delicious food. A bit of a wait on a Friday night for a table but definitely worth it. We shared the haggis fritters and had the chicken pot pie.
C. R.
Enjoy a drink here waiting for the rain to pass, was lovely inside. It can get busy, so limited seats sometime but still worth a visit.
K. W.
After two weeks across Scotland, I can tell you, this was the BEST meal of my entire trip, easily! Incredible food and great atmosphere. Michael served me and he was a delight, too. The food was perfect. I had the Steak & Ale Pie and after reading recommendations for the Sticky Toffee Pudding I saved room for it. Unbelievable food. It was all delicious. I cannot say enough - you must stop in for a meal if you're in Edinburgh!
C. S.
A nice homey place. Very busy though. But once we got a table, service was quick and friendly.
They have a lovely selection of Scotch and while I'm no expert, the fish and chips were quite tasty.
The garlic cheesy bread was fantastic and probably horrible for you. But oh so tasty.
I. C.
Excellent cosy pub on the Royal Mile only had the 1 drink but it felt welcoming and friendly
R. L.
Great staff lovely food went about 3 nights macaroni cheese was amazing so was fish and chips also burgers well worth a visit if in Edinburgh
S. K.
I’m not a great photographer so pardon the pics but I am so happy we went to The World’s End for dinner. My ten year old absolutely gobbled up the steak and ale pie (I could hardly steal a few bites) and the fish and chips were delicious. The fish was cooked perfectly with a flakey tasty crust! The staff were lovely. We had about a thirty minute wait where we sat near the bar and enjoyed a lemonade and a cider (for mum). It was worth the wait for sure. We may go back for dinner tonight!
S. H.
Fabulous pub, super staff especially Graeme and great atmosphere. Definitely a place to call in for a drink, didn't get time to eat but will visit again
S. W.
My partner and I enjoyed ourselves. The service was very friendly and efficient. Food was tasty.
m. k.
Another of the citys old watering holes. Very polular tourist pub. Busy for food best to book ahead
D. F.
Friendly enough service. Great Fish & Chips. Delicious Sticky Toffee Pudding.
D. H.
Stopped in during our visit to Edinburgh and had a snack. Really enjoyed the place and your welcoming hospitality! Hubby's apple pie was tangy good and my onion rings were delicious!! Thanks to Malcolm and Matt!
R. S.
Cheap beer. Good variety of beer and cocktails on tap. They could do with slightly more alcohol in their cocktails. The live music band was absolutely exceptional. Great vocals and a very nice collection of songs that were performed. Be mindful that the place gets quite packed so this may not be a bar if you are claustrophobic.
M. T.
Great little gastropub off the Royal Mile. Friendly staff and good food. The rump steak with haggis was more tender than I expected. Some of the best chips I've had!
Z. B.
We had just finished from our hopon hopefully tour bus and visiting the castle walked down the Royal Mile and we decided to call in here for a drink or two. It’s a traditional style pub. Friendly welcoming staff, nice beer and from what I could see the food looked very appetising.
There is also a lot of history of this building and stories. If you are in the area a must go place.
S. S.
A fabulous atmospheric pub. Old world stylish decor. Barman was fantastic, with a great sense of humour. Vast variety of beers lagers and spirits. Comfortable seating with cosy neuks n crannies. Restaurant was packed, with a 30 to 45 minutes wait for seating. Absolutely loved the place. Be back soon hopefully.
L. J. U.
Great atmosphere and service. The food was great and better than anticipated. Highly worth the wait! Small music stage adds to the ambiance and enjoyment! Good Scottish selection of brews, we went up the hill for better Scottish whiskey selections.
J. R.
Malcolm and James provided excellent service. The food was fantastic (have the steak pie and sticky toffee pudding). The drinks were well priced. Location is perfect
F. M.
Nice pub but very expensive for drinks.
S. M.
Wonderful place! So unassuming but incredible food. So delicious and very generous portions. Graeme and Andrea were incredible, friendly and provided excellent service.
F. B.
I had a great time here while on my last trip to Edinburgh so I decided to stop in again and was met with the same cosy atmosphere and friendly bar staff. Would definitely recommend, thanks James and Marcus for the great service!
A. D.
Scotch eggs are higly recommended! Good selections of local beers too! Mystics enviroment and the staff is very friendly, always smiling and happy to help! We were looked after by Sean (irish name, but Scottish lad) and a Portuguese young man (I don’t remember his name, sorry).
It is located in the heart of the city; you can have a nice break from the city walk and from the cold weather by stopping there!
J. P.
The service and food was great. Ask for local beers food and whisky and you will leave full happy and merry
M. B.
The food was fantastic and the service great. I had the big fish and chips and my wife had the steak pie. Both were delicious.
J. M.
Lovely pub! Great staff and very clean and tidy.
The friendly cleaner was out in the mornings during the bin strikes keeping the street clean for everyone too!
L. M.
Crowded. Almost no seating places. The bearded bartender keeps cursing. He must be bored of all those silly tourists. Way too many.😊 …
J. S.
I've had a pint at the World's End. Being here makes me want a pub like this in my hometown. Exactly what you would expect from a centuries old pub with cool architecture, fun vibe, and delicious beer.
E. B.
Atmosphere and food were very good. Graeme was awesome in his serving and great personality. Well done!
K.
Very authentic pub, good atmosphere. They adhere to social distancing rules and clean the tables after every customer. Good beer, friendly service.
r. s.
Fascinating history... Basically the world's end because the people of Edinburgh were not allowed to leave the city without paying an entrance fee... which was way beyond the means of most of the citizens.
D. K.
Cool pub environment, the staff was friendly enough despite how busy they were. Not a particularly wide selection of beer on tap and the kitchen closed some time before 8.
M. K.
Great lunch ! Went here on a Sunday and got a table for two straightaway . We ordered a fish and chips and the balmoral chicken, both delicious ! Great place for a meal in Edinburgh
M. F.
Great cozy place to grab a couple pints and a bite to eat. Staff is excellent, service was great, Fish and Chips was really exceptional...when they claim it’s a specialty they aren’t kidding...really good....Classic little pub with lots of character. I’ll be back
M. C.
Had a great time here. Friendly staff and good food and drink. Highly recommended
L. H. M.
Great amounts of food, everything tasted very well. The place is also quite cozy and the staff is very friendly.
G. K.
Must try this place. My husband got haggis and it was delicious and I really loved my fish and chips as well.
L. P.
My sister and I went to The World's End pub for dinner three of our four nights in Edinburgh. The food and atmosphere was that good. We had the same waiter two of the nights. I wish I could remember his name. He has a mustache and a tattoo of Cincinnati on his arm. He was a character! He was personable and made you feel like you were the only table he had. He made great recommendations and took care of us. Two of the nights I had a diet coke and the soup of the day which was fish chowder. So warm and yummy. The soup came with two pieces of bread. My sister got the bangers and mash two of the nights. What can I say? We liked what we ordered! I stole many bites of her meal. The third night, we had a different waiter but he was just as friendly and personable; an Irish chap. We changed it up and both had the haggis, neeps, and tattie pie with a whisky sauce and steamed veg. The portions were huge and it was delicious! My sister tried the local cider and a local gin & tonic which she said were both very good. There are restrooms. There is also a separate dining room for people eating in. You can still order drinks from the bar and if you want to go over to the bar area after finishing dinner, you can. And this place is historic! Part of the wall used to be the outer city wall, at the very edge of Edinburgh at that time. Hence the name, World's End. Make sure and stop in for food or a drink.
R. Y.
Friendly bar staff. Good beer. A bit cozy inside but that's part of the charm.
C. W.
The fish and chips was great here, much larger than I'd expected as compared to normal portion sizes in Canada - not that I'm complaining of course ;) extra food is certainly not a bad thing, 100% felt like I got my money's worth
t. S.
Excellent food, nice service , but always full . Better to make a reservation ahead
L. D.
Meet Edinburgh’s best Barman
Spent a few welcoming hours in here on a Saturday afternoon. Graham ( the beardy ) made our trip. After experiencing so many other pubs the night before that made you feel like an unwelcome tourist , the worlds end made us feel like part of the family. Great pub with a fantastic atmosphere. Thank you .., from the three lads at the bar and thier wife’s pretending they didn’t know them 👍🏻
R. T.
Love.the
History of this place.
Got a world end t shirt too. At least I know it is authentic and good quality material t shirt.
A. D.
We loved it so much. Sorry for this extremely delayed review, about 6 months due to the date.
Graeme, is absolutely fantastic. Took us on a lovely whiskey journey.
We're really hoping to go back and visit again soon!
Thank you for having us!
L. C.
Lovely wee cosy pub ,nice welcoming staff 🤗 …
H. T.
Delicious food, great service. The eating area for this pub is really quite tiny though - we were lucky to be able to walk in and get a table! Recommend booking or being prepared to be patient to get seated. It’s worth the wait though!
B. W.
Very nice food which we enjoyed.
I know its busy but personally I could have done with a minute or so after having my starter to have my main rather than it being brought out instantly.
Really reasonably priced for the brilliant food you get, would recommend!
S. M.
Good food and friendly staff. Meet the Americans there we had a good chat with them.
L. G.
Fantastic pub food. Great portion size. Staff are amazing. Even giving a history lesson as they serve your drinks. Table service excellent. Highly recommend. Really lovely experience. Thanks. Fae 4 tourists.
M. O.
Amazing food and atmosphere! Mesmerizing history! It's a must see!
N. Y.
Little pub in really centric zone. We were going to sit outside but we decided to go inside cause It looked cool and different from the big chains pubs. We didn't try the food as kitchen was closed on the afternoon.
A. B.
Friendly staff, really good food, fun atmosphere!! Really great place, definitely recommend!! The steak pie was soooooo good!
M. M.
Super Fish and Chips! Just tasty and huge:) Went here twice in three days! Best service - thanks a lot for the good food and nice atmosphere.
H. M.
We've had fish and chips and vegan burger, both super tasty
P. D.
Stopped in for a bite to eat when in Edinburgh. Small pub but due to the time of our visit we were able to get a table after a short wait.
All the staff were fantastic and food was good value.
Would recommend to anyone visiting
A. K.
A very Special place with good scottish foot. Thanks to the Guys from the worlds end.
All so Kind and funy.
See you 2023😉 …

Great pub! We even got to meet the Queen! ;)
M. H.
Cosy, great vibe, good selection of beers and spirits, and delicious food! Well located in the Royal Mile. Great staff. Feels like a Scottish pub should. We’ll be back!
W. E.
Haggis was pretty good, with cheesy mashed potatoes, although I wish there were more meat in the pie. Vegetables (some sort of cabbage) were fairly bland but adequate.
W. M.
Gorgeous food and very friendly staff. Deffo worth a visit
M.
Very nice staff, will try and get you a seat even if they need to wait a couple of minutes for a customer to pay and leave so they can clean the table, authentic atmosphere, good beer and better food
R. -. C. A. -.
THE place to go for fish'n'Chips. Best to arrive with a reservation, but you also can enjoy a drink at the bar and wait till a table gets free.
Service had been great, and food made to order. Yummy.
M. B.
Great bar! If you're new to whisky like me they are willing to explain stuff and get you going with your first drinks 😊👍 …
C. G.
Great food. In normal times you always have to wait for a table. The fish and chips are highly recommended.
B. G.
We tried, haggis, fish and chips and meat and ale pie. All three were delicious and served super hot. The best haggis we had in Edinburgh.
D. L.
Great pub. Amazing history and amazing food. It is right at the bottom of the Royal Mile, in the exact place where the limit of Edinburgh used to be in ancient times. There are various depictions of how the city used to look at the time, both outside and inside the pub. And they even have their own branded tshirts!
J. S.
Absolute amazing experience! The staff was amazing and the food was delicious. Wish we would have realized this place before our last night here.
R. D. F.
Very cozy. Lots of colorful artifacts on the walls. I had the regular Fish and Chips (they also sell a large size) which came with a side of peas. The piece of cod was large and excellent. The fries were good but the peas had little taste. All in all I enjoyed it.
C.
Nice pub at the end of the mile, dog friendly
K. m.
Perfect place with the most delicious haggis pie and fish and chips.
V. K.
We had a lovely lunch here! Ordered their steak and ale pie and it was delicious. Their whiskey sauce is superb - must be the good Scottish whiskey ;) staff were friendly, and the whole place adhered to Covid restrictions: staff were masks, tables were socially distanced, and we had to check in with track and trace upon arrival. Felt safe and had a nice meal - highly recommended!
S. K.
Great little pub, excellent service, really delicious food, quick kitchen, gorgeous interior.
C. B.
Lovely food, great atmosphere and brilliant service from John and Ryan
M. C.
Great but often busy place to start (or better yet, end) a walk down the Mile. Highly recommend their namesake ale.
e. j.
Food lovely front House staff great courteous Edinburgh gin was lovely shout out to the kitchen staff my food was lovely
K. J.
Fun place, good vibe, great bartenders. Food wasn't blow your socks off, but the service was amazing and I had a great evening. Hats off to the staff.
K. M.
So I didn't get to eat there, because I was afraid I would miss my engagement, but it is very nice looking.
B. A.
A lovely place with tasty food. Lauren and Graeme were very kind :)
You must visit it!
C. v. d. V.
Very popular place. Be prepared to wait. Excellent food. Friendly staff.
B. C.
Excellent selection, classic pub decor, and more of a local ambience than most of the surrounding joints. Bartender was a nice quiet gentleman.
F. B.
Great food, good drinks, awesome service: what else?
Totally recommend
M. C.
Amazing fish and chips and cozy place. Lots of good 🍺 too. Malcolm the bartender had lots of knowledge he shared with us too. …
K. T.
This was my first trip to Scotland and Edinburgh from the US. I went to The World's End to try some UK beer and food. I was not disappointed with either but what stood out to me was the service! It was top-notch our server was Scott. Scott was engaging and made me feel at home he gave advice on places to go in Edinburgh and what to eat. I would 100% recommend going here for a quick drink and snack. Some may say it is a tourist trap but I believe that anywhere you go and get great food and great service is worth a visit!
C. W.
Great pub! Very cosy and relaxed atmosphere. We were out on the Royal Mile and came across it and decided to try it out, with no booking we managed to get a table. The staff were wonderful and welcoming, especially Graeme and Blair.
S. M.
10 out of 10 for the Maccharoni & Cheese. Probs for the kitchen & the staff. Friendly, quick and well organized.
E. C.
Marcus and Blair were amazing and the food was the best in Edinburgh! Amazing, absolutely worth the trip. Much love from Canada!
L. P.
Not been in for ages but still a great little pub with good selection.of beers.
B. F.
Charming little pub with wide selection of beers, cider and local scrumpy! We thoroughly enjoyed our experience here. Fine bartenders and friendly patrons. I will definitely go back if possible. Cheers!
A. B. A.
James Grakme: very good service. Food perfect. I recommend
A. J.
Holly and Marcus was amazing! Wonderful experience, good food and best service!
A. J.
We stopped here for lunch while we were on a day trip to Edinburgh. Its a cosy little pub, the staff are so helpful and friendly. I had the Balmoral burger which has haggis in it, which I absolutely loved. My husband had the classic burger. Very good meal and very tasty. Well worth a visit.
S. B.
A great pub with friendly staff and good selection of cask ales and whiskies.
s. m.
Great restaurant! Good food, large portions, and a good beer menu. Had the fish and chips which was quite good.
p. h.
My wife and I were afraid to try haggis but we are glad we did. It was really good 😀👍 we were in Edinburgh for 5 days and ate at Worlds End 3 times. The hospitality was great and I would recommend going. …
M. H.
Had a delicious meal when visiting Edinburgh with my hubby on 30/04/22, the haggis fritters tasted amazing. Staff couldn't do enough for us. The atmosphere was buzzing. Will definately be back.
K. B.
How can you be in historic Edinburgh and not stop in The World's End?! The history behind the pub is fascinating and really puts you in touch with how the world has changed. The beer selection is good, the spirit is lively, and everyone is casual. It is very crowded at night. Definitely pop in for at least 1 drink and make sure to find the gold stones outside.
T. G.
Great pub experience for sure!!! The food gets maybe 3-4 stars, not the best meal we had but not at all a bad meal by any means!! Fish and chips is hard to mess up. The staff was excellent! I hope I can visit again, when I am Edinburgh!
A. C.
Just popped in for 1 pint nice friendly place with a good atmosphere.
V. C.
Amazing 👏 lovely staff, delicious food and good selection of whisky …
M. J.
Awesome staff. Had a great time as a tourist. Good beer, what else do you want?
N. A.
Really friendly staff, the food was delicious, especially the mushroom wings, the fish and chips was very fresh. Peri-peri sauce was gorgeous but spicy, more than I expected. Service was a tiny bit slower than what I'm used to, but it's such a nice place, you don't mind waiting a few mins
B. H.
Return visit which did not disappoint. Food delicious and staff friendly.
H. E.
Amazing history behind this place, the bar staff were friendly and informative. They made us feel so welcome!! Lovely range of drinks!!
B. C.
Great location, friendly staff. Not too impressed with the selection of ales, but I was unlucky that they had just ran out of their main house ale when I got there.
G. M.
Small cosy pub friendly staff.
D. “. N.
A busy pub on the Royal Mile. Good atmosphere
K. B.
Food was delicious wished I lived up there I would be in there every nite .
A. C.
Great place for Scottish Pub fare and great brews...
R. R.
Smaller than it seems. Had a bit of a wait, but it was worth it for the food. Fish and chips, pie that we got were great
H. W.
We hadn't pre-booked our visit but were lucky enough to get a table on walk in. The guy who served our food & drinks appeared to be covering all service, he was very efficient and friendly. We opted for the steak & ale pie which was packed with tender, melt in the mouth beef and a good amount of ale. I love the traditional decor, the pub had such a cosy welcoming feel and just an all round good vibe.
I. R.
My phone was dead and hard on me rained when I found me-self at The World’s End.
Had me some whiskey and some sticky puddin’ mate and came to call that a Happy End.
S. B.
Best battered haggis fritters and whisky sauce in Edinburgh. The steak and ale pie is a definite must.
L. M.
Excellent food, super friendly service. Highly recommend 👍👍 …
C. D.
Spent a great afternoon in here. Stopped in for a quick drink and stayed all afternoon as the staff flexed things to keep our table available. Nice relaxed atmosphere, attentive and fun staff kept us entertained (thanks Suzy and Georgia), and good food (traditional, simple pub grub but high quality, well presented).
Y. B.
Great food and excellent service. Would absolutely recommend!
G. D.
World's End was brilliant. Staff went out of their way to help us get seats for six when they were pretty busy already. A few excellent beers to choose from too....Great place for a few drinks (and something to eat too, if you're hungry).
N. S.
best fish and chips in edinburgh! very nice atmosphere and service. it is nice to eat in a historical place. can totally recommend.
M. H.
Food was ok although a children's menu would be a nice addition (even if it was same options; smaller portions).
Shame that this is another pub that used to have an ok beer selection until Greene King bought it and now the beer selection is poor. If they're going to buy up nice pubs they should offer better drinks choices!
E. L.
Been here twice now and will definitely be back again, their fish and chips is DELICIOUS! 😍 don't usually like haddock but this is so fresh it's lovely, staff are super attentive and friendly too and it's nice to be in a cozy old British pub love it 😁 …
l. M.
Lovely cozy homely little pub, over 300 yrs old full of character
R. M.
Great pub ,delicious food and service was superb
T. M.
Good time thanks to James and Lauren. Food good. Not too large inside. Got the T shirt.
N. W.
Friendly, warm welcome by the bar staff. Generous and well-priced drinks (mulled wine was only £5.50). Traditional, cosy interior with a friendly atmosphere. Definitely worth a visit; and far superior to the bar opposite.
J. S.
Excellent pub food, the pie was incredible. Service was superb and very friendly. You will need to have a booking.
D. B.
Atmosphere and drinks were good but the food very average, greasy, Wetherspoon level for a much higher price. Also our clothes took in all the smell of fried fish which was def not pleasant, would recommend to work on ventilation or separation of the areas. The staff was nice and helpful.
D. R.
Great welcome and beer, staff all friendly and helpful.
Fish and chips was excellent, everyone enjoyed food not one complaint from 6 of us.
Can't wait to return.
N. A.
Traditional scottish pub with traditional scottish food, good beer, great service and lovely atmosphere.

We spent quite a few hours at this pub the staff were brilliant especially Malcom and Graeme
a. m.
Lovely pub, bar staff very friendly x would recommend a visit to this pub x
t.
Great atmosphere. Would definitely return.
I. K.
Great looking pub with good drinks, but the food is very average, hamburgers and fried onion rings are not recommended at all. Our clothes took in all the smell of fried food. The staff was nice and helpful.
K. A.
Super fun place to pop in for a pint!
J. P.
The staff were so friendly and the service was inpecible. Would really recommend you try it out!
B. W.
July 2018 first time: It is crowded but worth waiting, the food and drinks are excellent!
August 2020 update: unfortunately closed, very sad
July 2022 update: with great pleasure we returned at one of our most favourite pubs from UK I may add without being wrong. Definitely it didn't let us down! Matt and Blair made the experience even more special!
Y. W.
Nice place, the staff are very friendly and very articulate. Speed is also good. recommend.
A. H.
Delicious cask ale.
H. C.
Lovely pub. Table service due to covid but staff were very attentive. Very cosy, lovely and warm on a cold day! Plenty of friendly staff chatting away in between service. Had some food too, that was really nice. Standard pub grub, all reasonably priced and portion sizes were good. Looking forward to going back soon!
B. S. (.
Great pub. Great staff. Great atmosphere! Go here for a drink or a meal! It's definitely worth it!
V. M.
Great place to wind down the end of the day. Malcom was hilarious, food was delicious, good whiskey list, and the sticky toffee pudding is ridiculously good. Would definitely go there again!
P. B.
Simon Pegg fan so a must. Good stuff. Small quaint spot and very well priced for tourist trap
S. F.
Fun, traditional pub at the end of the Royal Mile. Staff were friendly, atmosphere was fun, beer was cold, and the food was delicious UK pub fare. Worth the walk down from the castle
K. W.
Great food and even better service! Marcus and Blair were awesome! Can’t wait to come back! Cheers!
A.
Smashing pub. Great atmosphere, lovely staff and the food, beers and whiskies are good too!
J. V.
Our favourite pub in Edinburgh during our visit. Great atmosphere, superb service (the staff were very friendly and welcoming) and the food was excellent. Highly recommend the haggis fritters and the steak pie for dinner. Was my first time trying haggis and I'm surprised and happy to say it's delicious.
A must visit if you are staying in Edinburgh.
M. T.
Nice place to have a pint. Too bad that it belongs to the large company franchise. But a really cozy pub with friendly staff and nice selections of ales.
D. P.
Thanks to Lauren, Andrea and John for the nice service and the good Food.
M. R.
Visited Edinburgh for the afternoon and after a good ol' walkabout, happened upon the World's End and went in for food and drink. Not only was the pub delightful and cosy, the food hot fresh and delicious, but the service was by far the best part of the experience. Blair, Scott and James (? I hope I remembered his name correctly) looked after us so brilliantly, and made us feel so welcome and happy, exactly what everyone should feel when visiting a venue. All three are a real credit to the team, and made our evening fantastic. Thanks so much chaps, and to anyone thinking of going, DO IT!
A. C.
A very good english pub where you can eat and drink tasty products. We were happy of the efforts to welcome vegetarians with delicious adaptations of traditional cooking
R. E.
Fabulous. Fun atmosphere and best Scottish food in town.
S. S.
We had a couple of pints and read the paper. A busy time but service was efficient and one member of staff in particular seemed to be everywhere. I didn't catch her name. We didn't sample the food except for a serving of chips to keep us going. They were very good.
M. R.
Very nice place to go & a meal & a bevvie. The world's end is your place to go. Tho I would say that there is a barmaid with blonde hair who thinks she's the b all and end all. As I came from my hotel to get a pint as was down on my mother's death she says?? I think UV had enough. Y I don't know
N. B.
Loved it burgers are ace friendly staff and brilliant history and story behind world ends pub highly recommend 🤩😍 …
D. N.
Good beer, good food, good service and nice vibe.

Small place but if you get a seat the food is worth it. Highly recommend the steak and ale pie, and a sticky toffee pudding with custard for dessert
p. h.
Historic pub on the Royal Mile. Great place to sit outside with a pint of Thistly Cross and watch the world go by. Very Friendly barman called Graham. Would recommend
P. D.
Nice People. The manager is a funny man, Graham. Who makes time to speak to customers
G. S.
The food was amazing, a lot of history in this pub. The beer was lovely and the staff were friendly.
R. M.
What a lovely pub. It's got an old school vibe... the pint glasses are windowed and the staff are really great. They also have a pint of mild that is home brewed and delicious. The staff even wrote a lovely note on our reciept.. would highly recommend
E. S.
The fish and chips looked great but my scampi and chips was pretty well average, the scampi looked like they ran to Tesco's and pulled it out of the freezer.
M. B.
Salad with grilled halloumi was delicious! Cool vibe and great service.
E. C.
Great place and good food.
Thanks to Laura and Graeme
T. N.
Great food, very welcoming staff, and a great atmosphere!
C. S.
Marcus & Michael made my husband very welcome, still being in slight lockdown, masks to be worn social distancing etc. They made us feel comfortable and not anxious with being inside. The atmosphere was lively, drink reasonable good pint, and fab gins. If you roofing for a spot to stop for lunch or tea or a wee drink. This is highly recommended. Clean and welcoming. X
J. B.
Ollie and Michael made me feel very welcome and the food was fantastic I had an ale and steak pie). Great place to eat.
C. T.
Had a great time here for a quick bite for my mother’s 50th! Was such a lovely time I recommended after being here once before for food and was just as nice as I remember. Scott and Andrea were attentive friendly and very helpful All around! Thanks for the nice time ☺️
B. R.
Lovely small pub. It has everything you'd want in an old timey pub
P. R.

A lovely little pub. Great ale, fantastic whisky and friendly staff. Well worth a visit
A. C.
What a fantastic pub!! Great food, customer service and environment. We both had a great evening here. Thank you very much
K. S.
Great little pub and the food was spot on. They don't have a kids menu but brought us a extra plate so our little one could have some of our dinners. We sat in the window and people watched while we ate, food was lovely and people outside entertaining!
P. M.
Delicious food and very friendly service from a couple of happy fellas. Cosy little pub with a great atmosphere, and I'm always happy to visit.
A.
Great bar, half decent menu. Bar staff are welcoming folk. Lost of history to the bar if you care to dig on it.
T. J.
Lovely old pub. We stopped in for a couple of pints and really enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere and friendly staff. We didn't eat there but the food looked nice.
J. H.
Wonderful place. The website said they were fully booked for months but they had plenty of space when we asked if they had a table. Food was perfect and simple. That’s what makes it delicious and better while all of the other restaurants are trying to put too many odd things on your plate. Definitely best experience during recent trip and shows continuous perfection since my last visit pre-covid.
S. C.
Not too bad. Nice enough bar, atmosphere good. Not quite sure why it shut at 10, we only got in at 9:30 and were happy enough to sit for a while. In a great location.
P. C.
Had a great lunch, and yes beer, and sent best wishes, complete with pictures of me in front of your bar to a dear friend for his 80th birthday, back in Canada.
F. L. d. M.
The staff is amazing and the food is delicious. An special thanks for the waiters and the guys at the bar that gave me great suggestions of what to have. I cant wait to comeback to Edinburgh to go there again =)
J. P.
What a fantastic and warm welcome and service! The staff were polite and quick to check and double check my experience was to my satisfaction. The food was gorgeous. I had the Balmoral Burger which came with some of the nicest haggis and chips I've ever tried. The house ale, "The Worlds End bitter" was crisp, refreshing and full of flavour. I'll definitely be back.
D. D.
A fun little venue which seemed to be the heart of Edinburgh when we went in last night. Their house bitter is very tasty and you can tell the staff care about their pub.
L. F.
This 500 year old establishment has the good Scottish spirit. Loved the steak meat pie and sides.
J.
Great atmosphere. All the staff were super friendly, I think they were called Andrew and Matt. Also best food I've had in a Greene King
r. b.
One of the best pubs we visited in Edinburgh,,,the beer was excellent and our food was also excellent ,,,we had the steak and ale pie and mash potatoes off the menu,,,,well worth trying

S. F.
Wow, visited this pub three times so far.. its just so good, we have only eaten once and the food was amazing. Friendly staff and as its my last day in Edinburgh tomorrow I will surely be back for a final visit. Highly recommended 👌 …
M. H.
Great Pub experience in the heart of the Royal Mile. Proper Scottish pub food and lots of beer and other alcohol choices. We went at the end of the dinner rush on a rainy night after being denied at several other pubs and snagged a table at the wall next to the kitchen but it kind of added to the fun. Waiter was a bit busy so kinda short but he did still did a great job. Fish and chips were HUGE and really good. Our table had sausage rolls and haggis and all sorta really good food with great portions. We were visiting from Northern California and we had a great time. One of the best pub experiences we had during our week in Edinburgh. Grab a T-shirt if you can to make your pub experience proper. We will be back...hopefully soon.
A. D.
Absolutely amazing pub, staff are super friendly and the food is melt in the mouth delicious. Would recommend to anyone visiting Edinburgh
T. M.
Right on the royal miles so bit more tourist place than local but that doesn't mean it's not cool with some good home brew and Mac and cheese.
張.
Warm and helpful staff. Food and atmosphere are great!
c. p.
Good pub but over priced on certain drinks , but it is for the visitors
P. T.
Fantastic food and a lovely atmosphere. Proper pub feel and great service.

J. A.
Nice food, well raised staff, alot of good beers, alot of good single malt whiskeys, cosy. Sláinte!
E. W.
A very popular pub! Not a lot of space to congregate. We brought drinks and felt we were standing in the way from all directions!
A. S.
One of those landmarks people tell you to visit very nice and comfy. Many selections of whiskey and they do their own pint called at worlds end
L. W.
When I came to Edinburgh I knew I wanted to try a traditional pub. The World's End came up in several guides online and I decided to go to The World's End before I arrived. At first I tried to get a two person table at around 9pm on a Monday, the pub was packed and they said there was no space for us that night. It was completely packed and we were understanding. Not to be in discouraged we decided to come again the next day. We came at 5 the next day and even though there was still a wait we were seated after only 10 minutes. All of the servers and bartenders were incredibly friendly and our orders were taken quickly. The atmosphere in the pub was comfortable and cozy, the entire pub is pretty small and intimate but not too loud. I ordered the fish and chips and had an apple crumble for dessert. The Fish and Chips were delicious, it comes with peas as well. The fish was amazing it was soft but not too mushy and the chips were very tasty too. The apple crumble was very good it came with hot vanilla custard that mixed perfectly with the apple. Overall my experience at the World's End was very enjoyable and I would eat there again the next time I am in Edinburgh. I would recommend it to anyone in town.
M. D.
We visited the Worlds End yesterday and were delighted with the fresh ,warm welcome. The menu was perfect and not overwhelming. Their burgers are exactly as descibed and utterly unctious served with mouth watering sides and a mound of skin on crispy french fries. .We chose Innes and Gunn to wash it all down with and were delighted with the fresh tangy beer. A must visit if you are in the vicinity. cri
K. T.
Small but perfect. Lovely atmosphere, great staff and good food - what more could you want.
a. d.
Great little pub very friendly
S. P.
Loved it, even bought the T-Shirt (Polo actually). Excellent service. Friendly staff.
m.
A lovely busy town pub. We had a meal which was good value and the drinks were reasonably priced.
J. S.
Nice small pub near old Town. The pub is divided into two sections. One side is a small bar and the other is a small restaurant. When we visited, even though they were not very busy it was still a 45 minute wait for a table. They do not offer takeaway. The pub is not overly loud making conversations at your table easy. The staff is very friendly and personable. The fish and chips are very good but not the best we have had in Scotland. It is a good place to enjoy a pint, a bite, and to get out of the weather.
R. H.
What a warm and cosy pub, very friendly staff and lovely food. We were only in Edinburgh for a few nights and had we not already made plans for the other evenings would definitely have eaten here again.
J. C.
Great location, fish and chips lived up to the hype. Awesome history, staff was friendly, reasonably priced.
N. B.
Good Scottish food and large choice of whisky
V. M.
Great service great setting on Royal Mile and staff super
P. D.
Great pub with great history and a landlord who knows the history. Popped in there for a pint of Worlds end bitter and a whisky
A. T.
I’ve been to Edinburgh a few times over the years, and it’s the first time I’ve been to The World’s End - I regret not coming before. What a fantastic place this is, filled with some grand history of Edinburgh itself. The service was efficient & friendly. The food came out very quickly, cooked very well and the portions were quite large & value for money. Highly recommend this to anyone, although as an Englishman the knife being held to the Englishman’s throat in the old-time piece was interesting to stare at through my meal (don’t worry, it’s good banter!) Great place, we will be back again!
H. R.
Cute little pub on the highstreet. We didn't eat there but the food looked super. The pub has a nice cosy vibe to it with freindly service and plenty of choice of drink. One of the more pricey places in the center of town and our seating was directed directly in front of the kitchen door that was open which took away from the vibe a little bit. All in all nice pub!
J. D.
Half is picturesque pub/bar, the other half is a small restaurant. We had a short wait before seating at the restaurant. It was a welcome escape from the cold, drizzly weather. It is easily found along the Royal Mile. Seating was a bit cramped but still comfortable. We enjoyed the haggis-potato pie and the steak & ale pie. Both pies tasted very good; and both were very filling. Service was friendly and welcoming. The non-alcoholic cider tasted too close to a soft drink for my taste - too sweet. This is a good place to eat regardless of the weather.
A. M.
Wow the haggis pie is amazing. Friendly staff. Quirky little eatery and great service. Stooped for food and a drink for lunch. Well worth a visit
m. n.
Awesome little pub, serving great food and drink!
R.
Great pub. Lots of history, fascinating if you look into it. Good atmosphere. Would definitely recommend. Great to start off (or finish) a pub crawl down the 'Royal mile'
S. T.
A mixed bag.We visited twice over the weekend.
During the day it was a welcoming pub & quite cozy. The staff were friendly.
We called again the following night & the place was packed to the rafters with boisterous groups & it felt quite a threatening place to be.
There was a couple of glasses knocked off the bar & it wasn't until the live musician refused to play anymore until it was cleaned up that it was dealt with.
There was lots of pushing, shoving & aggressive comments being thrown about.
It was like a timebomb waiting to explode & we left after one drink.
Maybe there needs to be restrictions on the actual numbers in the pub.
We didn't eat so I can't comment on the food.
Overall it was a lovely heritage pub that I'd try again - during the daytime.
N. J.
I was a little cautious at first since I figured it was going to be another over priced pub on the mile, but I am happy to report it was not. The staff was super friendly and the food was delicious! It was surprisingly inexpensive and the portions were generous. I def recommend getting there early however. They fill up fast and will stop seating if they run out of tables they can seat before the kitchen closes. We got there at 8pm the first night and we're turned away. We went around 5 the next night and got in with no issues. I highly recommend after a day of hiking the city.
D. A.
Staff were so lovely, very happy to chat and give booze suggestions. Food was so good! Perfect pub food.
M. D.
Absolutely amazing meal 10/10!! Had the garlic ciabatta to start which was absolutely lovely, the steak and ale pie with mash for main which I can easily say is the best pie and mash I’ve ever had, and I’ve been enough places to know, followed by the most perfect sticky toffee pudding I’ve ever been blessed enough to taste. A wonderful evening, great atmosphere, not too big or busy but still has spirit, lovely staff and great drinks. Couldn’t of asked for a better end to a day! (Also served a perfect gin and tonic ;)
R. H.
Great old-fashioned style pub. Food is exceptional. Great service. Fairly small so best to book in advance if dining.
S. R.
Pub itself was beautiful, very atmospheric. Limited selection of beers on tap and we didn't order food, but staff were great and overall a pleasant place to spend an hour or two.
J. M.
Great old style traditional city bar with nice food n drinks. Staff were the most efficient and skilled that we seen, very attentive and forward thinking as well as friendly n welcoming.
A. H.
How can you not pop in here for a pint? Whether you're a Simon Pegg/Nick Frost fan or just a pub fan, this has a wonderful air of history around it, not to mention a gorgeous feel of an old tavern with comfortable corners and friendly staff, not to mention their excellent selection of local drinks.
N. L.
Most local feeling of about 10 pubs we visited round the royal mile
N. N.
Good food, great service!
D. Ž.
Nice place. Georgia and Alex were very kind!
B. R.
A cool pub whit a delicious menu. Very cosy and warm. Good service and a friendly staff. Definitely drink a pint of their home brewed beer it's is a great one! The location is really good on the royal mile and definitely a good pub to stop by for at least a beer, but dinner is recommended for sure!

Our party of four had fish and chips with beer on tap. Tasty and very generous food. Friendly service by Michael and Ollie. Come as early as 4 p.m. as the diner room cannot accommodate all who want to dine there.

Came across by accident but very glad we did. Food, drink and service were excellent and reasonable price considering it location. Wish I lived closer for more regular visits!

I would like to thank the barman (the long bearded one) for helping me, inadvertently, to find a bargain on the Internet. Had it not been for his lack of knowledge, I would have probably missed this bargain. This was the result of me asking for an Innis & Gunn Original, whereupon he proceeded to pull me a pint of Innis & Gunn lager. When I protested, he insisted that this drink was what I had asked for. I told him that this was not Innis & Gunn Original, whereupon he started to deride me to my partner and fellow customers. This gaslighting had me questioning my own knowledge of the brand, to such an extent that I resorted to researching the brand on the Internet. As a result of his ignorance I found a great online deal for 24 bottles of the aforementioned ORIGINAL. If it hadn't been for the ignorance and derision of beardy, the pub would have have had 5 stars as it was very nice in there. Thank you thicky beardy.

Fantastic pub, is a must see and experience
A. H.
Over rated and very pricey for a gimmick pub.
2 halfs of Peroni £5.10 yet 2 pints charged at £11.80
(Should be £10.20) how does that work out.
Come to Edinburgh very regularly but will be giving this place a miss now.
Appreciate just off the Royal Mile but now taking the p×××

Good food, beer and atmosphere.
A warning in advance, this place is almost always fully booked. So make reservations well in advance. There is the option of having a drink at the bar while you wait for tables to become available though. We did this and got a table for five after half an hour.
The food was excellent and came in big portions, slightly too big for me and I'm a big eater. They have a few signature dishes that are very good. A few of us tried them and we were not disappointed.
The place is nice and cosy, although the tables are a bit too close together. But other than that, it was a very enjoyable experience.

Small pub with friendly staff and good food.

Worlds end but the fun is just beginning with Marcus and Blair

This place has a great history to it. You'll be able to learn more about it whilst there through the pictures on the walls. Previous reviews do not disappoint. Food is Amazing! I personally had Fish and Chips. Very large portions.

Stopped in here on a whim as it looked charming. Had a berry cider and a few appetizers. Very attentive staff which made great conversations and very good French fries.
M. T.
Great friendly pub on Edinburgh's Royal Mile with plenty of character. The staff are really nice and welcoming, and they also serve food (I've not tried their food yet but the meals do look good). It can get busy so getting a seat can sometimes be a challenge but we normally manage to.
R. P.
An average establishment. It's very cozy. The beer selection is decent. The food was average to good. It is a bit loud. Service was again, okay. It's a good enough place to stop if you're doing the royal mile tourist thing
C. I.
The food is lovely, really over the level of the traditional pubs. Inside it's very nice and classical. Only you don't have to be in a rush and have to be a lot of patient as we waited one hour to eat. To apologise they gave us a discount. No bad. Ask suggestions to the waiter for the whisky, he can give you very good ones and he tells you stories and traditions of them.
D. H.
Very lovely pub, amazing atmosphere, the best potato and leek soup I've ever tried, can't recommend it enough, all together bosh!
R. B.
Just popped in for a pint. Staff were polite and attentive. It's a city centre pub in Edinburgh so prices aren't surprising.
Nice little place and would visit again.
D. E.
What a fantastic pub this is. The staff are amazing especially Graham. Food and beer excellent. A must visit if in Edinburgh. Customer service as it should be.
S. C.
Very interesting spot with fantastic ambiance. Had a pint and the "award winning fish and chips" - the pint was cold and the fish was hot...all as expected! They were busy on the day of my visit but we got seated quickly and served just as fast. Prices are okay- but it's right in the middle of the hot tourist spot so its competitive with others nearby. I would recommend as a stop for a drink and a bite while walking the "Royal Mile".
J. W.
Popped in for lunch on our first day in Edinburgh. The guys found us a table very promptly. Our meals were absolutely incredible. I had Hunters chicken which was delicious and a lovely portion size. The lads made us feel very welcome. Nice one, lads!
K. M.
Excellent food, great service, wonderful setting.

First time visiting and definitely will be back!

Very popular pub.Great choice of beers, wines and spirits. Good
choice of meals. Wel cooked andl presented. Very friendly staff. Highly recommended.
C. G.
Very small pub on the famous Royal Mile in Edinburgh. Good choice of ales, lagers and ciders, plus a fantastic whisky choice. There were musicians on during the two nights we went in, in April, and they were quite good. They also serve food, which looks lovely, but we didn't dine there, so can't comment on it. Would go in again though. It's just on the end of the street where the Travel Lodge is, so it was very handy for us.
C. R.
Best place to eat on the royal mile. Back in 2018 we had a great 7 days in Edinburgh and The Worlds End was by far the best. Cozy, Fun and great food. We will be back in 2022. We cant wait!!!
C. K.
Great food and service. David was a great waiter.
J. W.
Nice place, friendly staff, good food, tasty beer. What more could you possibly want on a nice Sumner day?
A. C.
Lovely little pub, very popular lucky to just manage to get a table, great service just popped in a few drinks would highly recommend a visit.
F. L. X.
An amazing historic pub with great bar and drinks options. The place is fairly small but the food is divine. One of the best fish and chips I've ever had. I would also 100% recommend the haggis. Would go again every time I visit Edinburgh.
B.
Great hospitality and great food/beer. Had a lovely meal and a couple pints, service was lovely, a lovely relaxing place to eat and drink, I highly recommend the steak and ale pie with mash, absolutely perfect
J. D.
Wish I took pictures of this place and the food! Portions were large and so delicious - the small cozy feel of the pub/dining area was delightful, and the service was excellent. My only complaint was that I did not come back for seconds.
Top notch 👌🏽 …
L. R.
What a lovely pub, staff very friendly and accommodating. Excellent food lovely atmosphere 👌. Will definitely call back. …
J. M.
Best scampi and chips, keeps me coming back year after year. Great apmosphere, and happy friendly staff members. Great food, and very warm welcome
L. O.
Nice atmosphere, great service. Lovely local cider. Great history.

This pub is worth a visit first and foremost for its location on the Royal Mile and its historic significance. At some point it formed part of the town wall around the old city, hence its peculiar name. For the fans of the series 'Outlander': it also plays a minor part in the third series.
The atmosphere inside is, as in almost any pub in Edinburgh, great, with friendly people all over the place. It seems more popular with tourists than with locals though. Food is fine, but nothing special either.
M. R.
Always call in past for a pint when in Edinburgh. Very friendly staff. Great food. A great wee traditional pub.
j. p.
Not the biggest pub has an excellent bar ,serving The best fish and chips in Scotland.Recommended
A. S.
Lovely little pub. Fast service.
S. H.
Lovely spot for a late night drink, very interesting history too as the pub at marks the old edge of the city.
S. S.
Cool place with good food and drinks.
R. M.
Great old pub in the heart of the old town. Good beers and friendly staff. Loads of history 🏴👍🍻 …

We chose "The World's End" as our "Last Supper" while here on our final evening in Edinburgh as recommended by our tour guide. I had the generously proportioned fish and chips and my sis had the popular steak & ale pie as was recommended by staff & customers who sat at the table next to ours followed by the sticky toffee pudding for dessert. Scrumptious!! Excellent service and food, always friendly is our experiences to remember while in Scotland.

I really wasn't expecting one of the most memorable meals of my life but, I was very pleasantly surprised. I had the Haggis and black pudding for the first time - ever. These two dishes were unbelievably delicious (by the way, this is too much food for one person, but I felt compelled to try both and I'm glad for it). The Haggis arrived hotter than I have ever seen food arrive at a table and it remained so throughout my dinner. My son's Steak and Ale pie was spectacular, so much so, he hardly spoke the entire meal. The bread and butter was so heavenly we needed to restrain ourselves from making a meal of just that. Happy, very well cared for, and comfortable from our time here, we'll remember this place and visit again.
M. T.
Really nice place, serving traditional Scottish food. Friendly staff. I did enjoy my steak and ale pie.
R. P.
I love this place. Yes it's small but you can't beat it for atmosphere.
I eat here at least once every time I am in Edinburgh.
The food is hearty and the beer comes easily. The staff are always up for a good laugh and it's wonderfully relaxed.
Hop in here to get out of the rain and you might just find you stay a while...
N. W.
Would definitely recommend it.
Loved every bit of it. Food is great and tasty, people really nice and caring, ready to make proposals when asked for advice. Really good value for money.
If going for dinner, take the table by the east window (next to the kitchen as there is a bit more light and away for the counter of the pub.
Drink whisky!
M. P.
Delicious food, good sized portions, friendly staff and quick service.
A. N.
Great food! It really looks like the bar from the Simon Pegg movie. I just love the area! This restaurant is in the heart of the Royal Mile. It's the perfect place to pop in, have some fish & chips, maybe a pint or two (great beer selection) and then hit the cobble stone streets. It's also right by a hop on hop off bus tour stop.
E. S.
The good is delicious and the staff are great! Definitely worth stopping in!
M. W.
The food was good, but not exceptional.
T. S.
Fun atmosphere and authentic pub experience. We enjoyed sitting at the bar and learning a bit from the bartender about the difference between the pulled beers versus those on tap. Later, we enjoyed a tasty meal in the restaurant. While The World's End is right in the middle of all the hullabaloo, it hasn't yet sold it's soul to the tourist industry. There are still plenty of locals who enjoy their pints and meals there.
D. J.
Despite the description this is not a spacious place. Went on a Saturday night and we weren't allowed into the"eating" area despite it being late and no one being there so were shoulder to shoulder. That said, it is a really nice boozer. Friendly staff (even to us invaders), good beer and they had some live music on the night we were there, which made for less seating/space
J. R.
Great Place and excellent fish and chips !!!
I. D.
Great cozy atmosphere and impeccable service. They even made a drink for me that I invented even though, we all later found out, it was not very good. The location is fun with some interesting history. Great whiskey selection, the Haggas pie was fantastic and the sticky toffee pudding was immaculate.
R. Z.
Was there yesterday for the second time after 3 years. Still nice. Friendly staff. Quick response. Food r gorgeous. Nice portion and reasonable price. Haggis is so tasty. It's not "dark" style meal at all. Can't recommend more.

Kind staff, delicious food with huge portion! Highly recommended!

Great hosts, great beer and great food
J. K.
Very authentic even though it's in the touristy area. Great pub
j. o.
Great beer and back story. Everyone needs to visit the world' end. Coming soon to all of us
B. F.
For what must be one if the most touristy named pubs in the world, it has great food and the staff are fantastic. Don't hesitate to visit it, you won't be disappointed.
C.
Classic! You can really feel the years and history when you walk through the door. Not a bad selection of ales, and a solid selection of whisky. It's tight, so be prepared for a cozy atmosphere. Staff are really fun and friendly.

I travelled from London to Edinburgh this summer, stopping many places in between.
Possibly the best waitress I've encountered anywhere in the world, and the BEST fish and chips ever! (Including my own). Worth the trip for the ambiance alone. If I ever get back again, it's on my list!! GO!!!!!
R. A.
I’ve been to Worlds End a couple times now. Food is usually pretty good, although if the wait is very long I would say it’s alright to go elsewhere. The staff tend to be quite busy so they won’t be too warm, but they aren’t rude or off putting at all. My boyfriend is partial to their fish n chips which is a pretty huge portion.
K. P.
OK food but a reasonable price
J. H. J.
I was lucky enough to rent a room 30 seconds from this legendary pub. It is smaller than I expected but the service was top notch. The food was great, the bartender was fantastic. The Cranachan was positively addictive. The steak and ale pie was huge and delicious. I can't wait to get back to Scotland and pop back in to the World's End.
C. O.
A very cool wee bar. Staff very friendly. But almost disappointed that it was a Belhaven I thought it wasn't managed itself.
E. D.
Good food, not crowded from the outside bustle of Edinburgh peak season. Cozy and warm, and very nice service. The Sirloin Steak with mushrooms (I wish i asked what kind of mushrooms these were - amazing!) was great, as was the Orkney Macaroni and Cheese!
L. S.
I'm sorry, but the food was not good.
A. P.
I had my lunch at that place.a good choice of food and wine. A visit place if you are in Edinburgh
M. Z.
A typical pub with nice atmosphere. The staff is very friendly. Good food, especially fish and chips.

Lovely food, great pints
M. H.
Loved it. Great atmosphere, staff and beer!!
B. H.
Delicious food! I had to be wheelchaired out. The nachos were so worth it. Some of the best fish and chips I’ve ever had. Wifey had the vegetarian haggis and loved it! Do yourself a favor and eat here.
C. R.
Cozy and very lively pub. Best food and drink
M. L.
We called in here for a couple of cold ones during our walk up the Royal Mile.
Staff were spot on , the pub due to it's age is full of charm and character. Good range of drinks and very comfortable so well worth a visit
A. L. T.
Fine pub. Delicious fish & chips.
M. P.
Great atmosphere and delicious food. Try cullen skink (typically Scottish chowder) and fish & chips. We’ve visited this place twice in 2016 and now and next time in Edinburgh we will do it again!
Be careful - portions sizes are huge!
M. W.
Great welcome from staff, simple honest food and good selection of beers. Good place to stop to rest the feet being central to a lot of things.
R. I.
Awesome pub on the Royal Mile with, quite surprisingly, the best churros that we have had in Europe. All of the Scottish favorites can be had there including haggis and fish and chips. It is cozy, loud at times and features a terrific and friendly staff...just what you always wanted in a proper pub.
A. M.
Well what can I say. A fantastic stop and a must if on the royal mile!! Great staff drinks and atmosphere..
S. D.
The worlds end does good fish and chips but be careful the large portion is stupidly large!
B. W.
Small pub but great old school feel inside. Not much seating but wort dropping in for a pint if you are walking up the royal mile. Not sure about the food as I didn't try any but seemed busy which is usually a good sign
E. A.
Friendly, only had drinks in here but was a lovely atmosphete with good history!
R. M.
4 of us went in, having never been before, myself and my 2 brothers with my brother's fiancee svetlana from Bulgaria. We were made very welcome and we had a laugh with the barmaid.
T. M.
Lovely buzzing pub. Friendly, helpful staff who found us a table, even though we weren't eating.
F. S.
Food was as to be expected from a pub. I did have to wait until after my friends for my food as it had some how been forgotten. A decent size pub but felt a little cramped due to number of tables. Interesting tale to how it get its name but nothing too special about the pub itself. The staff were friendly and it was quick service aside from my meal being forgotten.
H.
Disappointing, considering it's in the good beer guide (or was) range of real ales very poor.
Nice pub tho just the same and the food looked great.
