Such a lovely place. The owners are great hosts and very nice people. We had a good time on a rainy winter evening - so absolutely cozy. I tried to buy a special glass they had from a local brewery and even got it for free. One of my best memories on this trip. Highly recommended!

Introduced to this pub by a local and its a truly great find. Tucked away off George St it looks like one of the many chain pubs but it’s an independent with cracking selection of spirits. The bar is atmospheric and super clean. Enjoyed a couple of rum cocktails which were delicious

Great to be back in the Thistle Street Bar again, a regular haunt in the before times. When we visited the regulations required table service and the staff were attentive and helpful. I definitely felt safe there and look forward to returning soon.

Edinburgh is a great city with a lot of really good bars and sundry watering holes. This bar is outstanding in a field of champions. Mine Host, Robert - has a level of expertise to match the staggering array of spirits on his display shelves and he will happily share his encyclopaedic knowledge with those that share his passions.

Good covid measures and a very nice bar. We had never been here before and because there was no background music but that's not the pubs fault so I'm afraid it felt a little flat but I feel that this is the type of pub that could be good for a romantic night out. The Thistle Street Bar is one of the best run pubs I have been in. The service is friendly and slick, the bar is clean and fresh, the beer is well presented and the price of the drinks are fair and reasonable. Robert and Dorothy have got all their vivid safety measures worked out better than any other licensed premises. It feels very safe in there, but it still maintains its warmth and character. Five stars!

Really enjoyable few hours spent in a pub that takes its staff and customers safety really seriously. Great choice of beers and chat even though it is limiting the amount of seating available for the customers protection. Screens between seats as standard. Book a table first!!

Very pleasant pub. Not too busy as it is off the main roads in the areas. Really good selection of ales and its Scotland so of course there is an extensive collection of malt whiskies. Friendly staff and the other customers seemed pleasant. No music on the night I was in so nice and quiet place for a natter with your pals.

Lovely little place. Cosy atmosphere and decor. You feel like you've stepped back into the early 1900s. Good selection of local or Scottish beers, and of course plenty of whisky. Prices were as expected on Thistle Street; pricey but not extortionate. Staff were very friendly and their music selection was chilled. Toilets were up a small set of steps, so not entirely accessible, but so is the entrance. Unfortunate consequence of being a very old, possibly even listed building.

Stopped in for a beer about 8:30 PM on a Friday night. The place was very lively. Great selection of beers and the barmaid was very friendly except I could not hear her because of my old ears, the noise and her brogue😀. The beer garden out back is very small, but you could stand in the alley to enjoy the nice weather. It will be my home bar while visiting Edinburgh.

Popped in after work on a sunny day - Edinburgh doesn't have too many beer gardens, and this bar tucked away on a side street promised one. A hidden gem and a must for anyone visiting Edinburgh or living here. I've waited a long time to write a review for this pub, but it was tasting the lovingly served haggis stoVies, a truly Scottish dish, that inspired me! It's the best traditional Scottish food I've had in the city's new town. Exceptionally good, the whiskey sauce was the icing on the cake and for only £5 of your legal "Scottish tender"! Sure how could you not? Come for the Stovies, stay for the authentic Scottish charm, traditional Scottish music and friendly Scottish bar staff. What's the stovie in Edinbory? It's the Thistle Street bar!

Unfussy and unpretentious, a great range of whiskies and gins and good beers selection. It is quite small though so not ideal for larger groups and they don't do food. It's a pubs pub.
