Reviews of Westgate Farm - Dining & Carvery
R. G.
Bit disappointed with the limited menu after reading the extensive one online, but what we had was excellent. Service was great. Spacious pub, toilets clean and tidy. We went back for breakfast next day again only buffet breakfast available but really good value for money.
A. G.
My wife and I went for all day breakfast this morning. When we ordered the breakfast came and was well presented.. Just about everything on the plate wasn't as warm as it should have been. It was as if we got what was left over from the buffet breakfast.. my wife's bacon was overly crisp as if it had been under the heated lamp in the buffet for hours.. Sorry won't be returning..
D. K.
I had the carvery which was really nice but had to wait 5 mins to be served as chef had disappeared. My colleague had a couple of things from the menu which were average. However the staff were very friendly and the place was clean. Was excellent value for money for the carvery.
n. m. (.
Food was alright but l find it a bit overpriced for homely like meals and roast. I encountered a very unprofessional staff member. It's conveniently located in an area with hotels that don't serve good meals
K. B.
Visited Friday evening for carvery.
Was busy and overheard staff telling other customers that they were short of staff. Bit of a wait to order food.
Tasty gammon and good choice of sides, tho some were not to my liking (more a personal taste thing than anything wrong with quality).
Kids were entertained in the indoor play area.
K. A.
Food was decent, some things on menu were not available which was poor. Staff need trained properly, took 20 mins for drinks to arrive when restaurant was quiet, too many staff standing about when customers need served. In the whole disappointed.
L.
5 star, i had a really great lunch and the atmosphere is cosy and warm. friendly staff, great service. would recommend. i had the carvery and it was perfectly cooked.
J. M.
My colleagues and I were here for a lunch.the meal was first class ample size plate full.great taste good presentation we had no complaints what so ever.and the choice of deserts Ice cream well what can I say.great.staff where friendly and pleasant.definatly will be back
L. M.
An ok experience. Staff friendly and approachable, especially young lady with pony tail behind bar taking food orders, very professional. The older girl who showed us to our table was lovely, friendly and efficient...both staff an asset to Westfarm. A few disappointing things to note - lukewarm chips served with mains but these were replaced almost immediately with 3 or 4 apologies, which we accepted. There was no IPA beer or Belhaven Best as they had run out, but it didn't faze us as we were with grandchild for a wee Hogmanay meal out so we had soft drinks and water instead. Play area lacking for kids over 2yrs, could do with a ball pit, slide, big Connect 4 game and maybe a playhouse? It wouldn't need staffed if disclaimer/sign stated kids using play area is at parent discretion, just cleaned a few times during the day with anti-bac spray. There is definitely room for improvement but the food was decent, portion sizes good and price was affordable. I was astounded there was a fly floating around our booth on 31 Dec which looked like a juvenile bluebottle. I wonder where that came from??
j. s.
Very nice in here, today they only served carvery as staff issues, we didn't mind
, The food was lovely, there was 2 meats on which where beef and gammon both where amazing, really enjoyed ourselves
T.
Only had carvery available due to staffing issues. Food was nice. Only filter coffee available as new machine not ready yet limited choice of cakes.
Will go back to try it again
M. M.
There are no restrictions here as you do not have to book though it might be better to phone first as it is always busy. Went there on a Saturday night bu the kitchen was closing at none and there was not a big choice from the menu as they had been so busy during the day.what we all had was still good as usual.fely sorry for the staff as they were really working hard .I recommend either farms if you like a cozyish apmosphere.
D. M.
Great value for money, food was excellent (maybe a little too much) , staff were pleasant, great space for kids. However, I was not sure that the app based ordering was working effectively so we had a few ordering issues.
K. E.
It was very quiet for a Saturday evening. If this had been the one in Aberdeen you would have to book a table. Food was OK but very limited memu.
M. B.
Good experience today, good food, wonderful weather so got to sit outside! The lamb shank was perfect, tender and well flavoured, the all-day breakfast was ok, but not brilliant for some reason. Staff looked after us well, but could not quite grasp the idea of white wine being cold.. thank you.
j. b.
Absolutely outstanding food and service from Lorna will definitely be back the best carvery I’ve had.
S. K.
Went at 7pm, party of 7 people. There was no carvery because they had no meat, no mac and cheese and no coffee as there machine wasn't working. However, what we did manage to eat was delicious. Staff were very friendly and helpful.
K. D.
Banging meals for all 3 of us, 1 carvery and 2 from the menu and none of them disappointed. Great selection on the carvery and also on the menu Service was quick and the staff friendly, will definitely be going back and would definitely recommend
S. F.
Poor choice of meat tonight gammon or turkey potatoes and veg very dried up, had bern lying too long with being refreshed, difficult i know but staff should be trying to give paying customers the best
L. J.
Very tasty home cooked food! Carvery only at this time. Great customer service and a well stocked bar! The dessert options were fantastic!
S. S.
Not the best I've had by far but certainly not the worst either. Carvery meat was good, vegetables not so great. Staff were all lovely
C. D.
Service was fantastic Claire was on point with getting seated quickly and lorna attending to us and ensure everything was okay
A.
There was a good meat selection and had plenty choice on the vegetables. Although the whole experience did lack the personal touch. I would visit again.
A. H.
The staff are amazing. The stuffing that was served was freezing cold and they bent over backwards to rectify it. As a way of apology they gave me cake on the house
K. F.
Lorna was a star and was exceptional under very busy and trying circumstances due to how busy it was.
M. W.
Place was amazing, kind staff and superb food. 100% recommended. I've found my new favourite place to eat out 👌🏻 …
B. L.
Nice place booked a table online for the same day but only found out when I arrived that it was a limited menu due to staff shortages I understand that these things happen but would have been good to let me know before I arrived
B. H.
Nice place, good food. Service a bit slow, but would recommend it.
C. E. L.
Calvary and menu to order from. Menu has huge variety. Large Family restaurant.
D. W.
We had a table booked fir 7.30pm but our food didn't arrive till nearly 9pm. That was tolerable, since we had lots to chat about but rhe really galling thing was that there wasn't even rhe slightest apology - or explanation - for the wait.
U. D.
Attended here last night for the first time with my family, staff were really friendly, my youngest is disabled and to be honest they couldn't accommodate us any better moving tables etc, would definitely recommend, food was great at really good prices.
L. M.
Was a bit disappointed on our visit this time. The breaded mushrooms and scampi were hard and overcooked.
R. U.
Breakfast was amazing staff were very polite and friendly 10/10
H. L.
Good food, don’t recommend the mac n cheese but burgers and carvery etc are great! Cake stand is one of the best I’ve seen
L. M.
Amazing, helpful, friendly staff especially Lorna who went out of her way to help our group of 8 women. We had the Christmas menu and everyone in our group enjoyed their meal. Delicious food, large generous portions and fair price. Highly recommend. Need a member of staff to take payment after meal, we had to wait in drink queue.
S. M.
Absolutely loved this place. Actually changed our dining plans so we could make a return visit. Staff outstanding and meals very good value for money. Wish this place was next to my house!!
J. G.
Nice ambience and good food selections. Enjoyed lunch with family here. Waiting time is okay too.
J. M.
First visit to the Westgate Farm - Dining and Carvery and was quite impressed. I had a tuna melt ciabatta which came with chips, salad and coleslaw and was very nice and reasonably priced. The surroundings were very comfortable and the staff very pleasant. I'll be back. Why only 4 stars, nowhere is perfect!
S. M.
Kind, friendly and helpful staff. All staff went above and beyond to look after us during our stay in Scotland. We went along for breakfast on our first morning of our holiday and the service was so good we came back every day for the rest of our holiday. A big thank you to all staff. 5* for customer care
t. b.
Nice choice of menu better then tobey .there is a carvery to
s. t.
Very nice. Only had a cheeky fish finger sandwich but it was nice. The big question is ...the massive cakes and mountains of icecream on display ...are they real ...we need to know 🙂 …
S. T.
Disappointing that a good selection of the menu was "off" and considering time of visit (12n) could have been cleaner.
R. G.
Excellent eatery, especially where kids are concerned. Great food selection for families and cakes beyond compare.
K. M.
Great food at very reasonable prices, really friendly and polite staff, nice place to take kids of all ages as they have a family area. Personally I would recommend the cake's if you have a sweet tooth. Also they have a good vegan range of food. Definitely coming back again.
M. F.
I stopped by here after a weekend in Edinburgh and before my journey home. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming with friendly and helpful staff. The carvery was spot on and just what I needed before my drive down the road. Thank you for a great visit, I'll be back again on my next trip! 😁 …
O. N.
Just enjoyed a meal with family and friends. Excellent evening
E. A.
Enjoyed meal it was good, but portions are a bit on the large side
C. V.
I liked everything, the atmosphere, the place, the varied menu, the fresh food prepared with dedication, and the service. I didn’t try the cakes, but at the hotel where I am staying I was told that they are superb.
G. M.
Not brilliant but very reasonable price
I. H.
We were a party of 7 on Saturday the 13th at 7.30, place was very quiet, we ordered 5 carvery and 2 other mains from the menu, the food from the carvery was fine, but we were ignored after we got our food. We ordered soms desserts on the app at 9.07, went to ask what the holdup was we were told the kitchen closes at 9 and they didnt look at the order screens after that as the kitchen was closed although the payment was taken from the card. Nobody told us the kitchen closed at 9, in fact nobody came to clear our table or came to ask if we had enjoyed the meal. The only reason I have given 3 stars was for the food.Very disappointing as it was a birthday meal.
J. M.
Slow service at carvery although when the chef did come through from the kitchen his nice manner more than made up for the wait. Sadly the Yorkshire puddings were luke warm and so tough they were inedible. Staff very pleasant. First visit to this place on the recommendation of a friend but don't know if I'd like to return.
M. B.
Very pleasant visit and the food was excellent
A. B.
Excellent food and even better service.
d. i.
Food is good/ value for money, but service needs improving. Wait time for food is unacceptable. Also that's after waiting to put the order in. 1 person on the till for orders, then left to serve food with a large queue still waiting to put in orders!!!!!
My 4/5 is only for the food - service would maybe get 1/5
H. C.
Lovely carvery , quiet atmosphere. Good parking
S. E.
Offered a table quickly, our food choices arrived shortly afterwards which were hot, tasty, nicely cooked and presented. Pleasant surroundings, helpful and pleasant staff. Not overpriced and offer enough of a selection to please the majority of tastes and preferences.
K. B.
Excellent service, not our first visit. Only problem was many items from the menu were not available...due to ordering via the app this was easy to see tho. App is easy to use making ordering quick and easy with no extra movement around the restaurant
R. W.
Poor show yesterday. Took the wife and her pal along with me when I was meeting my mates for our usual breakfast. Told them about the great food, what a let down. The bacon was Doubled up, the sausages looked like they had been stood on, the Black pudding was as hard as an ice hockey Puck, etc etc. But everything was Lukewarm instead of Hot! Even the tea. I know we should have complained, season of Goodwill and all that. I'll be back with the mates at our next meeting and see how it works out.
S. C.
It's a nice place, food was really nice and very good value for money
B. D. O.
The food was good here will be back if I'm in Edinburgh again, went back the next day as well and the lady who worked in the play area is one of the best person you could meet she could not do any more for you and the young woman behind the bar was so friendly, if I'm in Edinburgh again I will definitely be coming back here
E. G.
Nice warm hostelry with a good range of dishes at a good price. A warm welcome each time we went during our five nights stay in Edinburgh, a particularly helpful and pleasant waiter/host when we visited was a chap named Peter, it always helps when in an unfamiliar environment.
L. L.
Meeting family for birthday celebration. Managed to download app, but did not find it at all user friendly, had to ask staff three times about accessing items, ended up going to bar twice to order & pay in person, items on laminated menu did not appear on app. Found it easier to order at counter. We had carvery food which was lovely.
Waitress accidentally spilt pint of beer on me, soaking my top, trousers and chair but only offered to replace pint which she spilled!!! Thought maybe there would have been some kind of discount or even a dessert offered.
R. B.
Lovely pub
Ample parking
Good menu
Friendly Attentive Staff
i. B.
Unfortunately due to staff shortages only the carvery was available but it was good.
B. B.
Nice friendly staff. Served up a wonderful carvery. The roast beef was the best I've had in years.
W. J.
Staff VERY HELPFUL and friendly. Very clean and plenty of space between tables. The food was tasty and there was a great selection. A good choice of drinks. This was my first visit and going back in a few days with my family 👪. Thank You 😊 …
B. D.
Excellent rump steak and chips. Cooked to perfection and a bargain at £10.95
I've now been two weeks in a row....think I'll be back again next week. Nice wee glass of red wine too....now that we are allowed to drink indoors again.
P. L.
Handy carvery with options for other dishes. You can have a breakfast, again with various other options, main meals allow choices and amounts of vegetables to suit yourself all in all a nice place to eat with staff attentive. There is also a play area for under fives that you supervise yourself not superb but enough to keep a child amused for a bit.
Today (Sunday) very busy, took a while for the carver to come out and serve, food was OK but have seen it much better, took ages to be served 2 non alcoholic drinks not impressed with today's visit.
G. A.
Beautifully clean and some good food that is very reasonably priced. A good selection of drinks and beers and a surprisingly very good pint of Guinness. Altogether a very pleasant visit
J. j.
Affordable carvery although the roast potatoes were extremely dry and borderline inedible. Staff pleasant and friendly on a positive note, it wasn't overly crowded on my visit.
E. B.
Really good meal. Staff are helpful and pleasant
G. R.
Excellent friendly staff, great menu, large family booth, reasonably priced, food was brilliant. Greene king IPA was a nice pint!
N. A.
OK carvery. Quite honestly the small plate would have been enough. I found the large plate a bit heavy going (I'm 63). I had pork, gammon and turkey, but avoided the beef (the portion that was on display was almost finished and looked very dried out - I like it pink!) For the price very good value and they also do a seniors menu at certain times of the week which includes a starter or pudding. Good selection of beers although we had a bottle of rose wine, quite reasonably priced. Nice atmosphere with a separate section for kids and families. Loads of outdoor seating with parasols if the weather is good. Same sort of set up as Toby Carvery although you just take a vacant table on arrival and then order at the bar where you are given a ticket to show chef if you have opted for carvery. Plenty of other options on menu apart from carvery and lovely cake and ice cream display. All in all an enjoyable lunch.
P. S.
Chicken dishes are great here and priced reasonably. The beer selection could be bigger but it's fine. The service has gotten a bit worse since reopening, but hopefully that will improve soon.
E. J.
Lovely team, friendly service! Food was delicious and cakes are amazing 🤤 food to tale away available also which is a bonus!
R. B.
Enjoyed the roast dinner - potatoes a bit chewy but it's a budget meal. Slightly perturbed by the cleaning of the tables when the floor and chairs and sills were dirty.... Missing the whole hygiene point!
C. M.
The carvery is great, staff are polite and welcoming but the highlight is the desserts.
Service can be improved though
G. P.
A very good and pleasant experience. Not very crowded, weekday. Very organized and with all the health safety measures in place. Very spacious car park, that really is a plus. All in all a very good experience, good food, good ambience. Surely to be repeated.
J. C.
Excellent Value. Lovely range of food options in a nice clean setting. We resisted the alluring cakes, but the food we did have was great. We benefited from the AA discount, but even without that I don't know any place in Edinburgh that's better value. Easy parking too.
p. m.
Great choice with the food menu , shame the drinks menu was so poor , great if your a lager drinker , says cask ales yet only had Greene king IPA ? Maybe get a few more ales on and it could be a local
Staff were friendly and helpful.
Only rated 3 due to poor choice of drinks.
Was told by a member of staff that the abbots was off and no mention of the speckle hen , also does not say on app about the hen.
Thank you for reply.
D. T.
Great value for money place for food and drinks options. Carvery option available as was breakfast option for following day hotels nearby. Friendly staff and helpful too highly recommend good basic fare done very well and value for money too
J. P.
We were pretty disappointed, we understood it was busy but we waiting 2 and a bit hours for our first drinks and food, in between waiting I had to go to the bar and order more drinks which we could drink while waiting since we used the app the first time then when we finally got our meals (our mains came before our starters!!) the girl who served us the food had to get it sorted as they had misplaced our ticket for the first drinks. We had a bit of attitude from one server with blonde hair (this has happened before as she avoids our table while we are in) but another server with darker hair up in a pony who brought our food helped sort everything for us. She couldn’t be more apologetic and fixed everything for us within 20 minutes she was brilliant although our drinks still came wrong and all we got was “oh my god this is what it came through as” as the girl walked off (this was not the same server who was sorting it as she was very busy trying to get food out)which must be a fault on the app as my conformation said exactly what I asked for but we were made to feel it was our fault. We are unsure why the other server (younger with blonde hair and glasses) always treats us in this manor when we are here but the other girls are great. The first girl we got who was another dark haired girl with heavy make up was great she showed us the app how it worked our table number etc and was completely rushed off her feet!! These two girls are the only reason we will return but we will now avoid being served by the blonde haired female if she ever does come to serve us as the attitude she gave wasn’t very welcoming . But on a positive note when we did get our food it was great as always and we started to feel more relaxed as everything was sorted for us.
T.
Food was really late, food was warm at best when it did come and my draught pint was warm! Took my son and their play area is good but that is the only redeeming feature unfortunately
G. C.
Had a carvery lunch. Very reasonably priced. Big selection of vegetables and lots of salad items to choose from. I like this place. Another visit 11th March 22. Again, enjoyed carvery lunch...really good selection of veg. The gammon was melt in the mouth.
R. S.
We went on a Friday late lunchtime so booked a table just to ensure we didn't have to wait. I had the all day breakfast and it was fantastic, other people in my group had the carvery and really enjoyed their meal. We didn't get to sample the deserts as we didn't have time but we will definitely be back.
V. P.
Was very busy and tables taking a while to clear but staff definitely doing their best. Certain carvery food wasn't hot enough. Chips weren't great. Puddings impressive.
Nice idea of oversized deserts.
Would go again.
M. N.
The food is good in my opinion but the service is quite slow very friendly none the less and they work well with extra need's. There's plenty of protocol in place to keep safe and still enjoy a meal out.
C. G.
Met friends here during the week for dinner. Staff were friendly and a fantastic selection on the menu. Some of the meat in the carvery looked a bit dry but I was pleased to see the chef removed the top slice before serving it. A huge selection of vegetables! We will be back!
A. A.
Nice time out lunch with my team today. Nice environment, good foods and reasonable pricing. I did enjoy my Chicken Sharer menu. Would recommend!
M. L.
Typical chain food pub, wide range of average meals at average prices. Plenty of deserts to choose from. Sufficient parking and easy to find. Convenient with kids in tow. Service was quick and accurate when I was there, soon after it had opened. Also very clean at this time.
M.
Nice atmosphere, good carvery.
A. P. (.
Good carvery food friendly staff
F. P.
Food is good and prices are ok
J. S.
I had a meal here with the family and it was perfect, surprisingly cheap for such great food. Breakfast was also superb. Pints are standard prices - £4.40 for a San Miguel.
J. L.
Went early morning, took the little one and had a good time. Large amount of food for the price. £3.99 or £6.99 depending on appetites (at time of writing). Meats are dished out, everything else is "fill yer boots" as the staff put it. 😊
Staff are friendly and had plenty of time for my "demon spawn" doing laps of the restaurant.
A little dull on the decor, and staff are at a constant battle to keep the place clean.
Food a little greasy for my liking as it has to be kept warm.
All in all an excellent little "all you can eat" for the price. Plenty of parking at rear. Would recommend for young families, and hungover stag/hen parties alike!
L. L.
We got food from here using the Too good to go app and we weren't Disappointed!! Good food. Excellent staff.
A. K. (.
Went here with my daughter and husband for her birthday. We had a great meal. I had medium buffet my husband has the fish and daughter a vegetarian meal. The choice of veg as the buffet was fabulous and the best out of any of the farms we've been to. Will definitely be back. We come from g Glasgow!!!
M. N.
Quality of food was exceptional and great value for money. Comfortable family dining with indoor kids play area which is free. Service was good, would have been 5 stars if we hadn't been seated at a table that was already taken! However they assisted and re-seated us with adequate sufficiency.
S. M.
I was a bit nervous as it was the first restaurant i visited pre lockdown. The social distancing is very well done. I felt at ease instantly. The food was great, hearty portion sizes and the service was amazing. The eat out to help out scheme meant a 2 course meal for 6 people came in at under £40.
D. S.
Had a lovely carvery , service and price was great !!
D. D.
A nice relaxing carvery. The prices are good, the food is nice, they have a wide variety, steaks, roasts, burgers, appetizers etc. The service is wonderful though you may have to wait to get a table depending on the day. But this restaurant is with a twist because of their cakeaway. Huge slices of wonderful cake for just a fiver and I must say one slice can feed three and the combination of flavors is lovely. All in all a nice restaurant with a relaxing atmosphere. A chilled evening out. They also cater to family and wheel chair access.
K. G.
There are not many places to eat nearby so it's good to have a place like this. Carvery is the main attraction here and is good value. Plenty of other choices though if you don't want carvery. They also sell giant cakes which you'd need to share with one or two others. Prices are fair and quality is average.
T. W.
Huge portions on desserts. I was disappointed that there was no salad with the veggie burger .
R. K.
Nice menu and the carvery is good value for money. 1st visit 2019.
Went back July 2020. Staff and Covid measurements seemed spot on. However the food we ordered was fish n chips and chicken skewer type battered chicken. Both dishes were well over cooked and luke arm when they arrived. Obviously sat a long time before being served. Wont be back. Very disappointed. Simple food and nor expecting much. Awful.
My wife has since made a complaint to the company and they have provided a generous voucher for the group of businesses. So while disappointed with our visit the Customer Service seems prompt and fair.
L. F.
Lovely carvery, good kids choices, well thought out children's area although I'm not sure about the toy vending machine choices. Affordable prices and good choice of desserts.
Overall a pleasant meal and we will definitely be back.
s. c.
Great good value breakfast. Definitely did not leave hungry. Excellent decor too.
A. D.
Lovely food, friendly staff, large menu, play area for kids, good value.
G. C.
Great food and drinks..... staff really friendly and efficient ..... highly recommended 👌 …
J. R.
Had tea here last night 5/10/21 and it was gorgeous, I reccomend the lasagne and the beef and ale pie was great too.Staff friendly and helpful will be back today for breakfast can't fault it thanks
M. W.
Standard breakfast fayre. Food was on the cold side of warm given the buffet nature of it. Small plates more than sufficient.
S. G.
Had lunch here recently the food was lovely, we all enjoyed it, most of the staff were lovely.... but there's always one though right.... didn't let that ruin it though.
G. S.
A good sized dining area that also has a children's area, the hotplate area is bright and spacious and is based on self service, ensure you pay before getting your meal. The toilets are immaculate and cleaned on a regular basis. There is ample car parking. The menu is ample with food properly cooked. By far the best and most competitive priced meal I have had in the West Edinburgh area £3.99 fora small plated self service Breakfast including toast, rolls, tea and coffee
A. G.
Service and layout excellent. I had a small carvery but everything was dumped on my plate and covered in gravy even though I only asked for tiny bit. Totally put off with so much but on whole food was hot and delicious.
A. R.
Problems trying to get gluten free food. Gave us a gf menu then told us it was out of date and had to order from an app which the staff didn't even know how to use. Wouldn't go there again.
D. m.
Looks impressive but only has rubbish coffee or tea to drink nothing else. By the time your toast is cooked everything is cold. Toaster only toast one side at a time. The rolling toaster you have to put bread through twice. Only one member of staff on the till queue nearly out the door. Sausages taste funny with herbs. Good haggis. Watery scrambled eggs and no spoon with drainage holes in it. that is twice I have been and not been great.
A. L.
I have never had anything less than an excellent meal at Westgate Farm. Another great experience today. With the app and the new safety procedures they have put in place since Covid I truly felt like I was eating in a safe environment. Rachel was amazingly helpful through out our meal.
R. W.
The buffet breakfast is a descent stay away from the haggis it's tastes like acid reflux.
The carvery is only good when the meat is freshly cooked but once it's been lying for ages it's just velvet underground... shiny bits of leather. Haha.

Fantastic starters and mains. Good size portions, served quickly with friendly helpful staff. Would have rated this place 5 but we didn't leave any room for the fabby looking desserts. We'll certainly be coming back!
T. O.
Wow! What great fresh food!. I was impressed with the manager Les and his warm friendly service. Way to lead from the front! . A small thing is all the menus i saw were sticky and smelt like it was wiped with a smelly cloth ( thats where the last star went) . But who can forget the friendly and attentive service of Louisa. I am looking forward to going back. The bill was decent too. Great experience and worth the visit. Big thumbs up!
D. B.
Free parking, cheap food with £1for kids meals offer over the holidays, was great to call in and order after our zoo visit, before heading back to hotel in Edinburgh.helpful staff.
J. M.
Great food and reasonably priced
M. D.
Great family time together, nothing too much for staff, very helpful, great play area for the kids, so easy to order online, only thing unhappy about was the menu said £1 for kids, but they didn't have their favourite dish which is macaroni cheese, which I think most kids would like, so we had to order adult portion of mac & cheese
S. T.
Not a bad place to go. Quite roomy and ample parking but maybe just because it was Xmas time and was busy but a long slooow process of watching your meat carved at the carvery. Food was good though and prices good too. Would need to go back another time to get a proper experience of it.
S. F.
The venue is nice inside, very tidy and quite spacious. The staff on this occasion seemed scarce but were polite and friendly when we did need them. We weren't rushed to vacate after eating which is always pleasant. Food was good and plentiful. Would visit again
S.
Really like this place. It has space, great looking interior, excellent food and staff. I also like the location - perfect after work. I have to mention that the size of their takeaway cake is just ridiculous... it's huge! Recommended
I. G.
We often eat here when visiting Edinburgh. Nice surroundings and lovely staff.
R. W.
Been here multiple times for lunch. Always lovely food and enjoyable atmosphere. However on my last visit the lady behind the till rushed us through our entire breakfast carvery, nicely gave us extra food but wouldn't give an extra plate when there was no room left on the plate. Lady appeared to be fed up and rude. Her customer service was not great.
g. -. l.
Staff are so kind and the food wait is quite fast. Amazing place to go for families there is an area for kids to go free xbox and play station games but doesn't work because it doesn't connect up to the WiFi. Food is sensational. It's also great for visitors because there is also some house next to it that you can hire for a week or two.
S. O.
Had a great time, went with my family and the food was spot on.
Amazing service from Konnor, he was very professional and looked after us well. 10/10
I. K.
We have had some mixed experiences with this restaurant. on occasions the food can be quite good but sometimes it can be quite poor like on our last visit my salmon was almost raw and had obviously just been stuck in a microwave and not checked that it had been cooked properly. May return but not in a rush to do so!
S. C.
Visited last night, the food was excellent and the service from all staff was amazing. Will definitely be back next time I'm in Edinburgh
B. E. T. A.
The carvery is the main thing here. If you like a carvery then this place is fine. It is very big with plenty of seating. Parking is fine but limited and if busy could get difficult. Disabled access is good as well
j. d.
Beautiful building, quick and friendly service, food was of a higher standard than other carverys. All fresh and HOT. Other carverys iv found food isn't always hot enough. I've been here twice now and haven't disappointed me in any way yet. Will be back again for another meal.
G. F.
The menu is simple but food is of good quality. I've been to Westgate Farm a few times and food has always been good. Service is generally good however I think because its fairly new, staff are still unsure of process and ability so this can let it down a little however in sure this will improve given time.
B. G.
Lorna made our experience very enjoyable. She was very helpful with our allergies and made my daughter's birthday meal a lovely experience. Lorna understood our dilemmas about allergies and nothing was too much trouble for her.
Thank you Lorna from the Girdwoods
C.
Nice place.
Good seating area outside
P. W.
Good range of food on menu to order also carvery service. Just newly opened so not completely polished but all staff are friendly and service is quick. Food has been great so far. Ample parking.
R. H.
Very nice place and friendly staff
k. c.
The food was lovely when we got it . There was 10 in our party and my wife and I got our food 20 mins after everyone else
D. M.
Not many gluten free options. Carvery seems to be off the menu altogether. No chips. Usual assortment of jacket potato with steaks etc.
Curry was okay, huge portion. Nothing to get excited about.
Edit: apparently I'm incorrect about the chips. Will return sometime and give them a go. Thanks. 😁
Didn't realise there was a GF menu as it's self seating and menus are already on the table, and nothing marked as GF. So at a busy lunch time, you just have to guess rather than trying to get a new menu (strapped for time as it is), so I went by the online one... Which doesn't have chips on it.
M. H.
We've been here for breakfast and lunch.
The lunch was decent service, was quite fast and the food was really tasty and hot.
Breakfast is a total shambles, it's all self service so there are people walking everywhere with hot tea and coffee. The milk ran out, cups were dirty. The queue for food was badly organised and you couldn't get past the people queuing for eggs. There was actually an argument cause someone said excuse me to try and get through.
Although the cakes are good value they are just too big. Bought an eclair and had to scoop out more than half the cream. Very tasty but so difficult to eat.
We would go back for lunch or dinner but definitely not breakfast
K. B.
Dont think it has enough staff, queues can be a fair wait. There is a sign saying "ice cream parlour/desserts" above a till, dont stand there hoping for dessert cause it's never open and when they realise they just tell you to join the other queue at the bar..
Carvery isnt great, Toby's is well better.
Kids eat for £1 though and there is other items worth ordering on the menu.
J. M.
The food was amazing and the staff very nice .
A. E.
Have always really enjoyed Westgate Farm, but when we had the carvery recently, it was pretty poor. I had a prawn cocktail to start, which was tasteless. There was no seasoning or flavour at all. The carvery meat was very good, but the vegetables were overcooked and dried out. The potatoes were hard and the parsnips were very hard and chewy. It was such a shame as it's always been so good, but I felt that the standard of the food let the place down
G. W.
We went to Westgate farm for a meal with family and friends we arrived a bit early but they didn't mind showing us to our table . We all ordered different meals and all of us really enjoyed the food no complaints it was so good my friend has booked again for six next week from the festive menu .you won't be disappointed I can assure xxx

Late 2017 opening from this emerging family pub/restaurant chain. If you’ve been in one, you’ve been in them all, but if you haven’t then here’s what to expect. Large open plan dining area with plenty of seats and a few booths, and a children’s play area. Extensive menu alongside all-day carvery, with a dessert menu featuring giant cakes and ice cream parlour. Reasonably priced and good portion sizes. Self selection breakfast, and other breakfast items available from 7-11am. Initially very popular, being located next to a new housing estate, and forthcoming Travelodge. Service is friendly and attentive, as well as sometimes a little overstretched at busy times.
M. L.
Visited while staying in Edinburgh had never heard of this pub/restaurant chain before but decided to give it a try after reading the review's and all I can say is I'm glad we did. The place was busy but didn't take long to get served with our drinks after looking at menu and ordering a steak and a steak and ale pie both of which were delicious it only took about half hour to arrive which considering how busy it was,was very quick.Anyway we're off for breakfast tomorrow and I'm sure it will be as good as our meal was. Please open in Norwich.
l. m.
Great staff and great food. Very accommodating and friendly, 2 large birthday bookings handled very well. Only gripe would be the of ordering food and drinks at the bar and paying in advance, nightmare with 12 people!! Will definitely return again.
K. L.
What a delicious meal we had here. We all had something different and we all enjoyed each. The staff were so friendly and professional. We will be back again and again.
J. G.
Always like to visit a carvery and this one is really good. They have 2 prices and the smaller portion is enough for lunch time or just if you like to eat a lot. No restrictions on the amount of veg you can eat.
D. W.
The food is delicious, great value and the staff are polite and helpful. However our seats were sticky and dusty. The menus were extremely grubby. This didn’t stop our enjoyment and I would recommend.
B. L.
Service at Original Till was nice & friendly
We ordered a Tuna Melt & Plain Burger both good.
Fish sadly was mainly batter The Mushy Peas looked like dried up Play Doh & were cold.
Got Choc Mint Cheesecake to take enjoyed which had tiny piece of base but enjoyable.
Mint Choc Ice cream Lovely.
Carpets around the tables had lots of mess from dropped food.
Till Area for Desserts dirty.
A. M.
This is the place to go if your looking for light snack/lunch as well as if you are looking for something special. Reasonable priced and great choices. Good selection of drinks non alcoholic as well as alcohol. Cakes are just business to enjoy on site as well as takeaway to indulge later. Staff very friendly and helpful.
Will be back soon. Already eaten here several times 👍🏻😀
U. R.
Great choice at tasty breakfast buffet. Staff were friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend
G. D.
Had a big family celebration meal and i cant recommend this restaurant enough!!!!
The staff were fantastically friendly and the food was top drawer...
Only small thing that i would suggest was to improve the kids play area as although it was big enough didnt really have that many options for children to play for free.
Altogether it was a GREAT evening out!!!!
M. D.
Was here for Saturday lunch. Not too busy at this time, seated easily. Ordered at the bar, large menu & Carvery. Great food, well priced, good service. Would definitely recommend.
E. S.
Track and trace okay if you have a phone. As I didn't have enough internet they wrote down name and number, so you have the option which is good. Chocolate Profiteroles were amazing, too much so half went home for supper. X
L.
Had the worst racist experience ever. The blond girl serving and the tall one behind the till mocked us for our accent and how we pronounced the words thinking we were stupid and could not understand them. But I want to be fair and say that the others were very kind and the food is really good.
M. T.
Really enjoyed Carvery. Roast potatoes where lovely.!!! Staff very polite. Salad bar could've been topped up regularly, with side plates on side to help yourself. Been here afew times really friendly environment.
j. y.
All staff where polite and helpful. Food portions where larger than I expected but couldn't fault the taste and presentation of the food. I will definitely be coming back here soon. Hopefully next time I can order a gin and tonic.
N. B.
Like a Toby. We had breakfast. Nothing out of this world but perfectly good and well priced for the amount. We've been a few times for lunch and wiĺl return.
Update 8th may 2022. Had lunch but same review applies
J. H.
Called in over the weekend for lunch with friends, the food was nice and really good value!! Great cake selection too
K. R.
Went for the Christmas menu and was quite disappointed. Winter veg soup was ridiculously spicy, carvery was ok but hubby had the 'festive burger' which was so dry it seemed like it had been pre cooked and reheated so was inedible. As for the pudding/cake again they seemed like they were from the day before, Marz attack cake was ok heated up with cream otherwise would've been dry and toffee eclair was dry and far too full of synthetic cream. Won't be in a hurry to go back.
d. M.
I like to go here for the carvery, but it can be a hit or miss depending on how long the meat has been out.
P. K.
Used to like going for breakfast, but they have done away with their small breakfast, which is a shame, as standard is too much for me & it wasn't as good as it used to be.
J. F.
The best carvery chain in my opinion. The carvery meat is always top notch, never dried out like so many others. Fantastic desserts, and a decent kids play area.
S. C.
It's a good place to go for a meal, as you have two options. You can choose something from the menu or you can go for the carvery after 11am, breakfast buffet before 11. There is a large selection of food available. I've been a few times as I used to work in Edinburgh Park. I've eaten from each and the food is a good standard. It's a friendly place to go and can get quite busy at peak times. They also have a cakeaway service! You can buy a big slab of cake to take home, you can also get ice-cream. I'm guilty of trying at least half of the variety of cakes they offer! It's ideal if you live or work nearby and really the only other option in the area that's not at The Gyle shopping centre.
M. P.
Great food and atmosphere 👌🏻
R. M.
Starter size was more suited to a mains course . The Calvary was average 35/45 minute wait took it to below average. Staff were polite, helpful and not too attentive. Perhaps wait until after festive period to visit
C. X.
Lovely little pub style restaurant. The food was okay for me (Hunter's chicken) but I'm afraid the rest of my family were a bit underwhelmed (burger and mix chicken platter) . The food however came fast and the restaurant offers a family area with a kids play area.
L. S.
Really nice pub, good atmosphere, right around the corner and great prices! Food was lovely, staff were nice, will definitely be going more often.
Only odd thing was that we paid £2 extra for the additional yorkshire and pigs in blanket, which was a decent price. I figured this was £1 each, and me and my partner both got a ticket each for the additional sides. The guy serving the food gave me two sausages and yorkshires, and one yorkshire and no sausages to my partner. Questioned it, and the staff member told me that's the way it works. No idea what that was about, as I've never been to a carvery that operates like that. He ended up giving my partner the sausages, which was nice, but I found the exchange awkward and confusing for what should be a simple thing. Maybe I somehow handed him the wrong tickets? I have no idea.
P.
Went for the first time, and even though I live locally I thought I would give it a try.Great food friendly staff nice selection of alcohol and desserts to die for. Great customer service and Id like to give a special mention to Mandy who was very helpful, friendly and it was nice to be made very welcome.I will definitely be back.
Y. Y.
Nice quality meat the corstorphine road toby carvery quality of meat would kill a child it's like chewing gum their thats why I come here it's clean it's good quality the chef is careful what he's giving you he bins all the bad bits not that theirs much the service is very good
H. W.
Decent food and good atmosphere.

S. M.
Clean friendly staff good service
D. P.
Was there for lunch and had the all day breakfast. Staff were friendly and polite.
J. A.
We had the carvery which was excellent we opted for ice-cream two scoops and sauce why put it in silly little tubs with a tiny spoon it ended up running over the sides and and with the sauce it was a sticky mess .Put it in a pudding plate and a proper spoon. Rant over.
B. L.
Lovely Night with Family. Made to feel welcome on arrival no fuss even though we hadnt booked.
Menu has good selection at Great Prices something for everyone.
Great Friendly Service from Bar Staff & Waiting Staff Well done
Thanks Megan & Lauren
K. K.
You will get a lot of food for the price you are paying. Dishes are big and quite tasty. Its good place to go woth kids as there is a big space for them to play with something to climb on ect. Place it sefl is huge and quite noisy so wouldnt recommend for a date, rather for dinner with your very hungry cousins :) deserts are tasty but something was wrong with ice creams itself... both me and my kids just left it (yeah kids refused eating ice cream...)
P. L.
It advertises a breakfast buffet, but it is really a breakfast carvery. The food was ok but nothing special. The coffee was awful and Luke warm. Staff were all friendly and the place was nice and easily accessible.
J. I.
Good place to to with kids. Have playroom inside of pub. Food wise, starters are ok, main dishes are very low quality. Meat is overcooked, and old. Menu is ery big for this amount of customers.
a. w.
Been here a few times. Very enjoyable, great menus and variety of food. Food is always fresh and tasty. Staff always nice and premises clean and tidy.
H. G.
Food came out super fast which made me question how fresh it was.. but it was delicious. The staff were friendly and we really enjoyed our burgers.
P. K.
First time in Scotland. First time in this place and enjoying every minute.Food is amazing.Lovely kids area with monitoring to keep your loved one's safe.Staff very polite and helpful. For person from Poland it is unforgetable part of holiday to eat in this place.
M. O.
Great service nice staff lovely place to eat pity the 22 doesn't go along as we had to walk a fair bit but overall the food was good and value for money
K. W.
Had a lovely evening, good food and great service. Very friendly and helpful staff
A. Y.
Cosy atmosphere, great food, big portion so my partner and I can’t finish them, could be a share platter. Price was great too. Plenty parking spaces and easy to access.
G. A.
Westgate farm is a great place to enjoy Carvery meals or Main menu meals also a very varied selection of drinks to choose from,I have never been disappointed with the menu or the restaurant. Would recommend to anyone to go and see for themselves.
J. T.
My husband and I went for lunch today have to comment first on Lisa who served us very friendly and helpful food was very good nice big portions we sat outside but was no problem for staff actually Lisa recommended it as it was such a nice day. Recommend this place nice friendly and very reasonably priced
M. A. O.
Very tasty food xx
N. K.
Visit Westgate farm regularly and I have always been happy with my food especially the burgers . The cake is so good and such a great variety . Definitely worth the money .
E. H.
We were able to get a socially distanced table in the children's area with my grandson. Easy to order meals using their App. Excellent service and friendly.
D. M.
Lovely lunch , great help with steps to get the new app . Busy place and nice environment had a great afternoon will certainly return.
D. M.
Visited westgate today for lunch. Claire was fantastic upon arrival and took really good care of us. Steak was cooked perfectly and presented very well.
j. w.
This would be a better restaurant if the servers took your order at the table, apart from that the food was okay
A. S.
Great place good prices and wonderful staff
y. m.
Good service from staff and they were kind. Had the vegan fish and chips, they weren't the best but I appreciate that it was an option on the menu. There were many vegan options to choose from!
c. d.
Clean and efficient service. Lots of filling dishes to choose from. Love the screens to help keep an eye in the kids in the play area-Helped me relax cause I knew where they were .Will be bringing the family back here again
e.
Birthday family lunch
Ordered off the menu to avoid the buffet queue.
Enjoyed immensely, but took the cakes home for later, due to lack of room inside our waist-bands
A. T.
Bought strawberry cheesecake to eat at home.Wish i had opened it before i got home sad looks like been lying in there fridge for 2 to 3 days as definitely not fresh cream was all
thick and hard not happy
C. C.
Not bad at all. Responsibly priced with a large selection. Food was piping hot and my niece couldn't believe the size of the cakes! Massive
F. G.
Food ok but not very warm. Although it's relatively new, carpets needed vacuumed, toilet seat missing and service a bit disorganised. Good for kids and good prices.
K. B.
Easy to order with the app. No contact needed if your don't wish. Easy dining. Regular pub grub.
S. M.
Good carvery and friendly staff.
Very reasonable prices too!
Basic food, some of it seemed to be microwave food hence the 4 stars not 5.
L. F.
Had a lovely meal this evening, bar and table staff were extremely polite and efficient. Food was lovely. I would definitely recommend.
w. m.
Awesome place ,me & my colleague were staying next door & working in the next building ,we have been in everyday day (for the past week & abit)& tried most of the menu ,really great food & staff, all very friendly, see you again soon from nobby & Tony
L. M.
Great place for a meal and a catch up with friends
F. R.
Food great but service when ordering drinks and food horrendous. 3 people behind bar but only 1 serving drinks and taking orders. Other 2 chatting and not doing much. Customers not happy and length of queue and no apologies.
A. B.
Great place for celebration of any occasion. The staff are very welcome and friendly. The food is great. Was there couple of times already and I will come back again
g. k.
Fantastic food and service, ...and at very affordable prices.
The staff are very friendly and efficient. Excellent experience!
J. K.
Food is tasty, service is quite quick, good buzz, typical carvery with a good buzz. Work, family, anything friendly. Mars attack is the cake to go for 😉 …
M. S.
We have been here 4 times since it opened each visit has been better than the last. Our last visit was with our granddaughter, she too loved the place, getting her away from the indoor play area was a wrench. She just loved the idea of choosing her own meat, veg and salad, said her ice cream was delicious!
What an asset this wonderful restaurant is to our community, staff are so helpful, friendly and professional. Highly recommend this restuarant deffinately a must try- you won't regret it.
DISAPIONTMENT !!!! ☹☹ AVOID !!!
Went to Westgate Farm 3 November 2018,, what a disappointing visit, we left very quickly !! Floors were grubby, unkept, with food under many tables ,,, buffet hot plates meat was dry looking , veg, potatoes ECT awful dry having been left out for sometime, salad bar sparse and unkept looking,,, oh dear !! What a shame this once local restuarant that was well looked after has gone quickly DOWN HILL
D. R.
Nice enough food but portions far to big we couldn't finish ours Also not a fan of using app to order took ages to install and didn't work as well as it should
R. D.
Enjoyed my light lunch. Staff were very friendly. Clean establishment. Will definitely return. Coffee just how I liked it piping hot.
s. b.
Food was excellent staff very helpfull. Was very busy but still managed great service and didn't wait long to be served. Will definitely be back (better than Tobys in my opinion)
R. H.
Really nice pub to get a quick bite in and for drinks. Equally good service at lunch time or in the evenings, although you'll be surprised if you think their location means they won't be busy on a Friday night!
A. S.
Food was OK but quite confusing set up. Yes a buffet breakfast which is fine. No milk jugs for teas coffees (only an urn) not very convenient having to go back and forth git milk
B.
Mid week lunch here tried the carvery and it was all freshly cooked and very tasty unlike other carverys I have eaten at in Edinburgh.
Thoroughly recommend the carvery great value and really tasty.
J. L.
food great but one order for our table took half an hour longer than the other so 2 of us had finished before other 2 had arrived. had to ask waitress where they were
D. T.
Good range of food and huge slice of cake with hot drink as an afternoon deal
Staff courteous and efficient
B. D.
A lot of variety in the carvery. Everything was delicious. Would recommend to anyone. Will be back again. Also the cakes are class.
J. R.
Had an amazing meal here on Christmas eve for my partners birthday great service
E. M.
Good value food and quick service even when busy. I didn't have the carvery but those in our party that did enjoyed it. The ultimate carvery is seriously massive though.

B. M.
Went in for cake n some coffee. Service was class n the cake was insane. Defos would recommend to anyone. Great value for great taste.
M. Y.
Close to the airport and the food was pretty good. Would have got a higher rating if the staff had been more helpful....it could have been the time of day but they didn't seem to want to be there.
J. D.
Interesting menu choices. Food quality very good. Friendly and efficient customer service. Christmas decor very well done. Strongly recommended. Will revisit.
R. H.
Popped in today for a spot of lunch. Fantastic lunch with great service. Smiley and happy staff! Would definitely recommend!
E. F.
Food was nice but the tables were too close so the chair behind me knocked my chair numerous times. The occupant apologized a couple of times but l just thought they are packing the tables in to make more money.
S. N.
Good service and food. Save room for dessert
l. M.

Well cooked and filling. Just a bit of a queue food couldn't come out fast enough
D. M.
Visited westgate farm for lunch , lovely staff and such a nice place the Xmas decorations certainly make a great atmosphere. Plenty of variety on menu ‘ look forward to my next visit.
J. L.
Good place for quick to eat. Great breakfasts but when it's warm outside they have all the doors open which leads to a main road which is disappointing for a family restaurant.....maybe a suggestion would be to keep the door closed near the play area or get a gate on the play area to save little ones running out on to the road ?
N. G.
Lovely venue, only had a few drinks, friendly staff, clean, would have eaten but flying visit
J. M.
Great pub. Staff do helpfull and friendly. Great atmosphere Certainly recommend.
G. D.
Lovely place great service
C. C.
Excellent meal and service. Not hovering around came by 1 or twice to check all was ok. Very child friendly.
A. H.
Carvery was cold but I should have used the microwave oven that where available to reheat bud didn't see them until it was to late. Apart from that very clean and service good
S.
westgate farm was amazing the carvery i had was delicious and lots of variety.

Good food and nice staff
W. W.
Atmosphere and food excellent but on Sunday lunch onwards the ordering at the bar is poor. Maybe insufficient staff till trained but needs addressed.
J. M.
Excellent service and very nice meal, we will be back again soon.
S. “. H.
Nice main meal and very large portions. Deserts look amazing but the cream in the éclair is synthetic tasting.
J. D.
While visiting Edinburgh with my wife and Son a few days ago, i searched on the internet to find a nearby Farmhouse Inn as we always visit the one's in Robroyston and Broxden Farm in Perth. What a delight it was to find this gem on our way home to Stirling. The food is fantastic and the portions are plentiful. I made a mistake ordering my wife's food and the staff sorted and returned the meal to us in super quick time. We will definitely return. Just wish we had one of your restaurants in Stirling.
J. P.
Delicious every time! We always get pudding to take away as well. The giant profiteroles highly recommended!
J. M.
Wanted to take the family but it was closed, been there several times and really like it, took our daughter and grandaughter there for lunch today we all enjoyed it.
L. C.
Loved the meal. Great food and great company
S. J.
Lovely big pub, extensive menu and very good portions for the price
M. H.
The meal was lovely but if you order sticky toffee pudding beware it's the biggest I've see but it was great got to take what was left home
J. G.
Massive breakfast for £3.99, none of us could finish it. Not high class cuisine but did the job and easily good value for money especially in Edinburgh
R. J.
Well organised pub with good food options which are reasonably priced. Staff very helpful and friendly. ✔️
T. O.
A great place for a bite to eat. Staff are very friendly and helpful. The food is good value for money.
S. D.
Excellent value carvery. ...get the standard unless this is a treat and the food needs to last a couple of days ha ha really though excellent all round
