Reviews of WestRoom
A. C.
Great restaurant! My friend and I went for the first time last night and were discussing coming back before we finished our mains! Delicious food, good wine selection, attentive and friendly staff and incredible value for money! An absolute gem in the West End 🥰
C.
Really nice food, good service and friendly staff and a short walk from princes st
F. R.
Lovely bar / restaurant with a modern and inviting atmosphere. Ate a sirloin steak, super delicious with great fries. Staff very friendly and attentive!

Can’t fault a thing - will be back as soon as we can. Newly serving breakfast on the weekends and would recommend a visit.
A. W.
Great food, great service, great value. We came back for a second visit.
C.
Only stayed for a quick drink but they were great and my partner's cocktail was spot on. A nice bar but the service could have been a bit more on the ball considering it wasn't busy.

Lovely food, staff very helpful and friendly

Service, food & atmosphere were all stellar! We cannot say enough about this restaurant. The small plates we beautiful for sharing and definitely delivered on both taste and appearance. The house made Raviolis are a must try. Great wine selection to accompany the meal!

Been here 4 times now and the food never fails. It all tastes incredible and is super fresh and filling. You order 3/4 dishes each depending on how hungry you are and can easily sit and nibble through them all over a drink or two. The staff have always been friendly and helpful. Cocktails are great and good wine choices. Menu was different a couple of times which is fun as you get to choose different things to try. p.s. Biggest lampshade I've ever seen in my life in the dining area haha

What a lovely find- Great customer service and wonderful place for a wine or two!
Fantastic drinks and bar snacks- well worth a visit! Thank you 😊👏

Cocktails not that great. Food was really nice as was the wine when we finally chose one they still had in stock. (When ordering a 2nd bottle of our choice they didn't have any of that left either - none of what we chose was 'house')). Staff friendly.
S. W.
Lovely small stylish bar!! Had a drink with a friend on a Sunday night. Bar staff were very friendly and there was just a nice vibe to the place! Good selection of drinks as well! Next time I go back I think I will try the food as it smelt delicious!

WestRoom proposes a different from traditional UK Italian restaurant, focused on small portions to share with bold flavours and delivers well on it. A nice wine list and decors, however can get noisy when busy.

Menu is simple which is nice. Staff were extremely chatty and friendly. We had a young guy serve us who helped us plan a day out in Scotland with suggestions of places to visit. Food was to good quality and not overly complicated. Fantastic meal.

loved it. the west room is a small but very thoughtfully laid out pub. the decor is modern and quirky; its a very comfortable and welcoming place to be. the staff are friendly and knowledgeable about their products and are complimented by top class food from their small but eclectic menu and drinks from an innovative cocktail list.
Highly recommend
p.s. Sophie says "cocktails were bob on!"

The West Room is a cute little place that opens up in time to do a good range of breakfasts and coffees. I really enjoy their croissants and they do a fab eggs benedict. We recently went on an evening and I was not as impressed with the food then. However the staff are lovely and cocktails fabby

I met a friend here for an evening get-together and catch-up, and it was perfect.Small, secluded, friendly and accommodating, with a straightforward but interesting menu and a solidly good wine list ... all good. The exterior is unassuming; the interior, though by no means extensive, is smart and classy. A good place to meet friends and chat, although morning visitors (regulars?) often seem to be enjoying hearty but solitary breakfasts. A place that works for the discerning type!
D. I.
Excellent food (small plates Italian style) and they have a Negroni menu 😋😍
M. F.
This place is always busy and not only during weekends. I like it for its authentic Scottish food and great cocktails. The decor makes it feel more like a cocktail bar but the restaurant bit at the back is very cosy. One of the best burgers and margaritas I had in town.
C. S.
Was taken there today for mothers day and loved it. No expense has been spared on dishes and glasses to present the tasty delicious freshly made food on. A lovely experience and can't wait to return with friends.
E. L.
The food is amazing. Handmade and fresh and bursting with flavour. The staff are lovely and attentive. Great wine list too.
D. C.
Tasty breakfast, good service, friendly staff. My latte in a glass was too strong, but that's my personal taste. Water in a carafe with cucumber & mint very refreshing.
K. H.
I had dinner last week at the West Rooms and thoroughly lovely experience. The wine list is brilliant and we would highly recommend the baked camembert as a sharing starter. Good range of food - including yummy veggie options - and a great ambiance. Will certainly eat here again soon.
I. R.
Food great, enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere and staff were very attentive.
R. N.
Great wee find in Edinburgh, brilliant atmosphere prices not too bad for city drinking. Worth going in for drinks as a couple or with friends. Not really designed for large groups.
M. R.
Good food - try the pork and fennel meatballs and the nduja arrancini. Some well made cocktails too. There are a few tables in the back and a small bar area near the door so it's worth booking a reservation to be sure.
e. g. I.
I was in this morning for breakfast and had eggs benedict with salmon. As ever the hollandaise is the best I know of in Edinburgh. I was a little disappointed that the spinach was such a thin layer--a little more works better! In every other way it was exceptional for food and environment--
The decor has been renewed and is lighter and brighter. The area for sitting outside is improved as a bow to global warming. All the service is gracious and timely. I'm always happy to come back to the West Room for Coffee, a meal or a drink. All Good.
J. B.
The best cocktail I've ever had was at the WestRoom - if it wasn't so expensive I could drink it all night. I also like the place itself, with lots of wood and a stylish decor. Definitely recommend it.
C. P.
Good (gastro)pub food for a reasonable price. Wee bit small so I was sat facing a wall, and beer selection could have been a bit bigger. But decent place and solid 4-stars.
S. L.
Fave place for weekend breakfast. Food that's good quality and well-prepared. Love their oversized printed lampshades, huge perspex framed mirror and nice little touches like cool big chalkboard & wood menus and biscuits with their coffees.
S. C.
Quite a small place that I would favour for lunchtime rather than a long evenings drinking. A compact but pleasing menu with usual fish and chips, burgers, salads etc. If i recall correctly they have quite giant TVs which can be a bit distracting if you're meant to be concentrating on your dining partner! I believe you can book a table online to be sure of a seat.
A. G.
Fabulous food, cocktails and service. Would recommend the Negronis, olives and bruschetta.
A. L.
Great little bar, situated just off bustling Princes Street and the West End. Lovely staff. Good selection of drinks...will even make off the menu cocktails
S. W.
Chilled out bar with nice ambience and great selection of cocktails. Food menu a little limited and service on the slow side but just good enough not to ruin the overall experience.
F. C.
Big change from a mince pie round, mash and peas+ pint of heavy back in the day at the West End Bar on the same site
N. M.
Really nice little bar with great good, sadly you always come put smelling of food as the kitchen seems to lack extraction, a real shame as otherwise its great.
S. H.
A good place for a cocktail and a catch-up, if you like that sort of thing, but avoid the risotto.
We booked here under the Top Table scheme, which it seems, alas, does not accept anything other than glowingly positive reviews. Overall, I don't regret going, but four days on I remain very sad about the mushroom risotto, which was probably one of the worst meals that I have ever been served. It was completely tasteless. Completely. It tasted of nothing. I realise that I'm repeating myself but I'm still baffled as to how they pulled this trick.
It had the texture of sodden Weetabix, and the mushrooms had been left to stew until all the flavour had leeched away. I can only assume the chef didn't taste it; in fact, as I'd made the mistake of ordering exactly the same dish at a restaurant owned by the same parent group (yes, I'm a slow learned) some months before and had the same bland, disappointing mush, I would be prepared to believe it's rehydrated after being left to slump in some chthonic cauldron for a couple of decades until all the flavour evaporated. I resorted, in the end, to dousing it with the sauce that accompanied my friend's (much better) fish and chip meal; hardly standard procedure, but I had to do something to stop myself from feeling that I was eating Dickensian gruel. It was genuinely awful.
However, the cocktails were very nice - if I ever return, I will bring some toast in my handbag.

The younger sister to Sygn, the West Room goes to show that good things do come in small packages. Stylish décor and great food make this bar stand head and shoulders above many in Edinburgh, despite being half their size.
A cosy environment, the West Room has it all. There’s a decent wine and cocktail list and they have a good range of beers, including a selection of the all-important craft variety. The food is great – the burger is fantastic, as are the weekend breakfasts. This bar also has a huge screen, perfect for watching the rugby on a Saturday with a couple of friends.
A great bar, I would thoroughly recommend making a pit stop if you find yourself in the west end of the city.
E. C.
Great food and service, a lovely lunchtime direct here. Will be back.
K. E.
The bar tenders are really great. The cocktails are excellent. It also has a really pleasant atmosphere. The cocktail are a good value too.
Z. P.
So far, I've only had a pot of tea here (which came with a jammy dodger biscuit on the side) but the food going past made me wish I'd ordered something more substantial. Free wifi and friendly staff has ensured I'll be back.
R. H.
Tucked away near Dean Bridge the WestRoom is a classy establishment with a great cocktail list and food menu. An ideal spot for bunch of a weekend with superb bloody marys and a great cooked breakfast but, for me, it's the cocktail menu that shines, from the classics to more outlandish concoctions they're always well made and presented (and slip down way too easily) at around £7-8 a cocktail it's a good price for the quality you're getting.
A. W.
Pretty classy wee hangout with a nice menu and good drinks. It's never overly busy which I enjoy and the staff are super friendly.
M. D.
Mediocre breakfast, imaginative menu descriptions hiding a fairly pedestrian offering. The place is freezing cold and the music is inexplicable. Definitely deteriorating.
B. S.
Stopped in for brunch. Good menu with a mix of breakfast and light lunch type items. Good coffee and serving alcohol.
R. L.
Friendly helpful staff. Excellent food and a good range of drinks, especially the wine.
S. J.
Super friendly staff and old classic dishes taken up a notch. Great selection of drinks too.
M. N.
Vibrant, narrow and often busy. Expensive (West End prices), but good service and tasty modern gastro-style bar food.
N. B.
Great small place for a wine/beer and their small plates. Truffle fries and arancini are always delicious
M. G.
Really like this bar for coffee, snacks or a meal. Nice staff, chilled glasses for the prosecco.
E. N.
Quirky bar near the west end. Small menu but each item is done well. Good drinks menus.
E. F.
Fantastic cocktails....staff are knowledgeable and can make many more cocktails than those offered on the menu.
S. P.
Great place. Friendly staff and well located. Food is pretty good too for a bar.
M. S.

The wine is very good. It's a pretty good Italian place but very pricey.

(Translated) Excellent address discovered by chance while strolling to join the park. Italian tapas restaurant, many tapas between £ 3 and £ 5. Delicious for those we tested, cheese croquettes, parmesan with balsamic, the bruchetta was refreshing with delicious dice of tomatoes and tastes on a buratta bed just as good. The dishes have nothing to envy to the starters, excellent too, risotto crab and ravioli of the day.
