Reviews of Champagne Central
S. H.
Took my mum here today for afternoon tea. After reading reviews I was setting up for a fail. When I left my opinion was very different. Staff were very friendly and made sure everything was to our liking. Sandwiches were freshly made and cakes and scones were delicious. Cannot fault the food or staff. Thank you for a lovely afternoon.
R. R.
Booked for a 30th Birthday treat and it was a fantastic place with great atmosphere and helpful staff. Even brought out a plate with some mini desserts which was an added touch. Go for it if your celebrating!
E. H. C.
My husband and I had a lovely meal for two for a set price which was very reasonable. There were special cocktails and plenty of champagne options. Staff lovely and pleasant ambiance.
J. F.
My Mum and I enjoyed cocktails here today(pm)X2 French martinis and x2 bloody Mary’s.The presentation was amazing and they tasted even better. The male bar man did a splendid job… have never tasted a Bloody Mary like it…. Just delightful. Take a bow!
Have to say however the main entrance to the hotel( exterior) could have been cleaner…. Brass plate gross as was the vomit very near by. Front entrance is first impression …. Not a good one .
Just as well the cocktails made up for it!!!
I. M.
Not the best high tea that I have had as the portions were small but I loved the wee rhubarb and custard tartlets.
I felt the staff dressed in denim was not appropriate and would rather see more formal dress code. Drink was also very pricey but I suppose worth it very a one off visit to this splendid building.
H. B.
Nice place, for sophisticated drinks and snacks before you head out for a night in glasgow
L. O.
Food lovely very fresh .Couldn't say the same for the staff
.Asked the waitress a couple of questions no answer. And any afternoon tea I have been to was never told your time will be up in 30 mins .Will not return bad experience ☹
R. A.
Beautiful venue Great Champagne’s and clunky service
J. M.
Expensive but nice is the way I would describe this place. If you want an upmarket experience in Glasgow this is the place to try. The bar is relaxed and the staff are great and the service is top quality.
I.
Fab place, beautiful and spacious, but split into smaller sections, which makes them more intimate and cosy. We loved the service, staff was friendly and welcoming and we had a nice banter. The cocktails looked beautiful and they serve tea in the vending as well, which is fantastic as I really like hot drinks and not many bars offer it.

Recent refurb means the place is looking and feeling very modern and fresh. Great place to start a special evening. Nice cocktail menu & snacks. It’s a firm favourite stop off
R. K. M.
Excellent environment.
Efficient, polite, friendly staff.
Really enjoyed our afternoon tea. Would certainly recommend this venue. Keir

Cocktails were lovely 🥂
Just love this place its BEAUTIFUL inside 💕
M. F.
Lovely afternoon tea with delicious & plentiful sandwiched, scones & cakes. Could have done with a much wider selection of black teas - only English Breakfast & Earl Grey is insufficient. Why not include Lapsang Souchong, Darjeeling, Assam etc.
N. M.
Beautiful place, lovely atmosphere and amazing cocktails! I can't wait to come back here again!
C. B.
1930s style bar with view over the concourse of Central Station. Champagne selection appears much appreciated by others, but we were there for Afternoon Tea: excellent set of sandwich fingers and cakes, tho disappointed in only 2 types of real tea.
P. T.
Good selection of drinks and light bights, great place to meet up before heading off for a night out or at the end of a day shopping in Glasgow, it's a bit pricy but I suppose the location/service comes at a price.
k. w.
Sandwiches really small, and the room was cold,e andy sister sat with our coats on.....ive had better experiences of afternoon tea
P. D.
We both enjoyed our tea, staff were first class, decor wasn't to bad either
P. S.
Loved it just popped in for few drinks really nice decor and very friendly a must if in the area
L. S.
Fine selection of spirits and good selection food. Very stylish ambience. I ordered the Croque Monsieur, excellent! The seasoned grilled romaine leaves were a tasty addition to the sandwich.
N. D.
Ace bar inside Glasgow Central. Highly trained bar staff. Perfect for a few last drinks before catching train home.
B. W.
Nice, relaxing pub inside the hotel. Service poor, but very comfy and nice
C. S.
Afternoon tea was lovely, staff very attentive. Really nice bar and cocktails amazing.
M. G.
Popped in for a drink between connections. Ots got that air of faded grandeur. Not the best selection of beer but I'm sure for wine and cocktails it's very different. Good place to waste 36 mins
A. C.
Had moet and chandon brut it was fab. Decor was amazing!
j. m.
lovely afternoon tea. would have liked freshly baked scones.
E. C.
Went for prosecco afternoon tea. Had quite a wait before we got our food and to be honest it wasn't that great. Food was tasty and sandwiches were very fresh but I expected more variation and perhaps a sausage roll, or quiche. Teapot only gave 1 full cup of tea so should have been offered top ups but no one came and asked if we needed anything else.
S. C.
Nice, but can be busy, difficult to find a seat sometimes it's better to book. Can be pricey
e. j.
Go enjoy

I've never had a drink before that I felt required a piece of literature but here it stands. A Smokey Amaretto Sour in Champayne Central the bar within Glasgow Central Station.
When I walked in to the hotel you pass through to get to the bar I was concerned by how unsecured it was for a place within a city central station. Now I'm pretty sure the inevitable has occurred and I died because heaven is the only place this drink could exist.
About the drink it's the perfect balance of sweet, smokey and savoury. It looks fantastic, manly, intriguing and is dressed with spice across the top.
When I took the photo of it the flash on my phone triggered drawing everyones attention to the fact I was snapping my drink like a instadicted millenial but was I ashamed or embarresed, was I hell.....I was proud! Proud to be seen with this masterpiece gracing the table I sit at and I with it's presence.
This is to me what the Bugatti Veyron is to Jeremy Clarkson. You'd expect me to be happy like you would Jeremy repleat with Bugatti but as he famously said he was enjoying the experience so much that he felt mixed emotions of sorrow knowing he'd unlikely drive the car again and couldn't own one, alas I feel the same knowing that the creator and venue for this Scarlett Johanson of cocktails is 450miles away from 'my ends' or as the locals say, where I'm fir. Even moving wouldn't guarentee this particularly skilled barman would remain.
After the first sip I simply stared the cocktail down shocked and stunned as though it just grabbed me by the chap, it's brasen but welcome to do as it pleases. Give it up cocktail bars for here on this day cocktail was achieved. We have answered the begging question of many: How do I cocktail?
This is how.
...or words to that effect it was pretty good.
P. C.
Great afternoon tea and great service. Lovely place to eat.
l. c.
Sandwiches limited plus edges hard not offered another coffee as we had on previous visits felt service quality has dropped very disappointed
P. G.
Great cocktails but so busy om the weekend.
Hardly any room tour stand.
K. H.
Had a fantastic time having afternoon tea for my Mum's 80th Birthday. The staff were just fantastic, Sophie Allan who I had been emailing was so professional and kind as took time out to speak to my Mum, also Sandy who helped me out with the flowers+ gifts & all the girls who were so pleasant, Even one of the managers passed my Mum and wished her a Happy Birthday.
The Afternoon Tea is amazing the prosecco and rosé wine were fab, the kitchen even sent a plate out writing in chocolate Happy Birthday with mini treats. Thank you all so much my Mum had a fabulous time thanks to you all.
G. S.
Went for a high tea, really enjoyable and tasty.
C. S.
Great champagne bar inside central station whilst waiting for a train!
P. Q.
Smashin, really enjoyed dinner and drinks, I'll be back soon.
S. B.
Good cocktails but plenty of posers hang out there
K. G.
Had afternoon tea then drinks which was lovely. Surroundings beautiful and fantastic staff. Very attentive, polite & helpful.
V. B.
Lovely, lovely bar. Friendly staff, yummy cocktails.
Y. M.
Amazing place, great choice of cocktails
s.
Thoroughly enjoyed myself.
Pleasant experience.
A. G.
Attentive staff along with reasonable pricing, we almost had the perfect visit. I would have given 5* but 6 persons sitting around a massive marble pillar is not ideal for having a conversation.
K. D.
Nice champagne bar with great cocktails
J. B.
Super smashing marvellous great. As Jim Bowen would have said.
S.
Fab place for a drink, great atmosphere 🎉
J. H.
Clean and loaded with history.
Lunch time visit with wife and daughter. They love the ambience. And even I as an old curmudgeon I can see why they like it. But, no no buts if you want a wee cocktail after a days shopping, as you wait for the train, go on enjoy. But, do not be seduced and miss train after train. The atmosphere could seduce you
Cheers
R. C.
Great place to meet with colleagues and friends. Friendly staff, really good selection of food and drinks and very handy for getting home by train!
s. l.
Great bar to wait for your train. Fantastic beer
R. J.
Great selection of drinks and cocktails. Cocktails are usually well made. Handy for starting or ending a night. However, table service now seems to be on booking only at the weekends. For some reason bar manager was encouraging single file queuing at the bar which just causes chaos as no bar, anywhere, has ever operated like that.
a.
Lovely afternoon tea here with my mum , we got a voucher as a gift and it was an amazing day out, I often feel awkward asking to be lactose free with afternoon tea as normally it's all cream cakes but the staff were more than accommodating and put my mind at ease so I didn't feel like I was being a bother, the waitress was friendly and courteous. Definitely would like to return again.
A. M.
I haven't eaten here but have popped in for cocktails which are lovely yet very pricey. I was accosted by a very rude waitress who demanded to see my ID before I even sat down (I can tell you that was a shock and hasn't happened in a LONG time).
D. M.
Great for people watching into the train station
S. M.
Great atmosphere! cocktails are amazing as well as the staff, especially the manager Katie fantastic service and very professional. Will most definitely be back.
J. W.
Not worth the money despite being a Woucher, afternoon tea was just okay and service not great, staff appeared to be new and just learning on the job
C. W.
Great cocktails and lovely staff
C. Y.
Lovely place. Good service. Great historic location
R. M.
Nice venue and good drinks, just on the pricy side. No real deals etc for cocktails
D. C.
Can get a little busy and that means service is slower.
S. A.
Great atmosphere and service was excellent
D. G.
What a place for relaxation and a few sodas .
C. A.

N. L.
great place to go
W. M.
Lovely place, staff were great and very attentive.
O. A. S.
Wow! Princess and her tea LOL
F. B.
Setting of the hotel is lovely but waiting time at the bar is too long (Saturday at 1600). This made us leave after one drink. Would still go back and visit the restaurant for food as it looked lovely.
S. B.
It's beautiful but it's far too packed. There needs to be someone on the door counting numbers. At the risk of soundng boring, I honestly can't see how it's not a fire hazard and illegal. People are packed in like sardines and surely the staff can see that
j. l.
Great bar, great buzz, great food at a good price. Staff were very attentive and friendly. Nice to wile away an hour or so.
W. J.
Cocktails are amazing, great atmosphere with lovely staff. great destination bar to while away the hours people watching over central station main concourse.
D. S.
Nice location, stunning building, missing the good Staff with knowledge to represent.
G. G.
Really busy here, if you want a table book in advance. Its a shame that the couches have been taken away. Was nice to be on a comfy couch while out drinking with the girls.
L. D.

Nice setting but overall a wee bit loud for us, (it was a Saturday during the European championships lol) the waiter was excellent and knowledgeable 👍
A. D.
Located within Glasgow central station. Prices are as expected for the location and premium drinks. Good cocktail selection available. Bar is nicely presented
s. H.
Amazing service and value of money. We will return once it reopens . That you so much for our afternoon tea today x
G. W.
Classy AF. Pricey, but fun. Worth your while and close to central. Dae it!
S. F.
Beautiful bar and great space for people watching! Cocktails were delish and staff with such attention to detail.

J. I.
Excellent, lovely waiter -didn't get his name....very knowledgeable on the cocktail selection. Nice atmosphere.
E. C.
Thee best cocktails in town by far, made by the best bar staff. Great atmosphere makes for a great day/night out.
R. B.
Lovely, stylish bar with a good atmosphere and great drinks, cocktails being made right in front of you and can be seen from your table even !
T. M.
Like the place. Sat for about 15 minutes while staff wandered about. Stopped and asked if it was table service. Of course, what can i get you. Really. So what happened to actually serving?
S. H.
Had a drink of cola in here a few times before catching a train south amazing view of central station and the trains and busy people outside :)
S. E.

Beautiful afternoon tea bent over backwards to cater for my dietary needs and the staff were amazing.
K. G.
Fabulous cocktails and venue. Service can be slow considering how expensive the drinks are.
A. D.
Afternoon tea treat. Plenty of choice and cause one of us is gluten free we go double the choice as well.
M. J.
Beautiful! Right in the heart of grand central station, so you can have drinks and dinner or just drinks. Great starters!
A. S.
A little pretentious for me. If you are looking a cocktail, or want to impress, then probably a good about....be prepared to wait
T. S.
Nice enough, not sure if its table service, some people were approached, some like us went to the bar🤷♀️
L. P.
It was fantastic. Staff food fizz and surroundings all 5 star.
