A fancy feel for afternoon drinks with their interior and classy drinks which you need to expect a little bit pricey for the price compared to other bars around Merchant City. It’s a nice place with lovely staff. We enjoyed our wee time here just before our dinner at another restaurant, but will definitely come back for the next visit in Glasgow :) Oh! Don’t forget to book ahead of time, for more convenience.

Beautiful decor, we found this bar by accident so didn't know what to expect and was so impressed when we walked in, we were quite early so the inside section was very quiet, there were more people out on the terrace but we stayed inside. The drinks are a little pricey but no more than expected in a nice cocktail bar, and we enjoyed everything we tried. The rum punch was probably my favourite. Would be really nice to see info on the menu to show which drinks are vegan to avoid having to Google unfamiliar spirits

We visited on a Saturday afternoon and it was pretty busy. Service was a bit slow and when I approached the bar I was told it was table service only - a sign wouldn’t have avoided the awkward exchange. Drinks were overpriced, no other way to put it - £4.50 for a bottle on non-alcoholic beer is too much. A bit too much style over substance for my taste I think, classy but not enough to justify the prices.

Another great place to stop for a refreshing and tasty cocktail. Would highly recommend the Cuban Cherry Pie, priced around £9 which is a the usual price for a good cocktail. Just a little issue and this was probably down to it being busy but kept on getting over looked at the bar as the bar staff did not seem to recognise who had been waiting and who was next to be served. I had to tell them i had been waiting for some time which spoilt the experience.

Lovely 2 course meal from their market menu (Itison deal) with bottle of Prosecco. Honey wings; soup of the day; fish n chips very good light batter; squash curry. All great and generous portions. Polite staff and good service.

I was there for a night out last night and the food was out of this world. The smoked salmon was so flavoursome and the pickled cucumber which accompanied it was perfect. I think the slow roast beef must have been roasting since last Christmas, it was so tender. Possibly the nicest beef I have ever eaten. Great cocktails too.

The food here is delicious. Granted I usually get a mix of starters and sides, but that's just my preferences. The black pudding bon bons are amazing. Applewood Mac and cheese, we love to see it, and taste it. And the parmesan fries are nice crispy and fresh. The staff are always friendly and the place is very nice.

Feels a bit hit and miss. The areas downstairs seem well kept, upstairs felt like it could do with a little bit of sprucing up. The terrace area upstairs was okay though. The scallops starter was nicely presented but the haggis was a bit dry. Although the steak sandwich took a while to arrive, it was tasty. Overall food was okay, place was clean, staff was friendly but nothing too memorable.

Nice venue on several floors that borders a central internal open plaza. Various large spacious seating areas & booths. Eating areas at ground level & an upstairs balcony overlooking the plaza make for a pleasant atmosphere. Very fine cocktails 🍸 in the upstairs bar. Good standard of food nicely presented. Visited with a large group of work colleagues ...bar staff were on the ball ....but no soap in the dispensers in the gents needs looked at ...plus as the night gets longer the gents toilet requires a bit more attention ...i.e. clear up the surplus water around the sinks etc ,wet floor is an accident waiting to happen ....please be warned .

When we arrived put us to the darkest place in restaurant, when we asked to put to another table told it was set for 4 only 2 more diners in,, then 2 ladies arrived and asked to sit in table that was set for 4 that was no problem just took plates and cutlery away for 2 don't know why waiter could not do for myself and wife but overall staff friendly food was ok but wouldn't rush back

The place is nice so I was surprised it was not full on a Friday night. While the interior is nicer downstairs, it's also louder there, so we were glad to be sat upstairs for food. I had the soup, which was delicious and very filling. The cocktails were delicious, be sure to try the Caribbean punch if you like cocktails. Piña colada and the parma violet ones were also very good. Would happily go back again

Where to start....Walked into this place and was met by a friendly staff member,asked if they did Prosecco by the glass and nice coffee they said yes then we sat and sat and sat,then they brought a menu...They knew what we wanted but made us wait a little more.That said the drinks were lovely,staff great atmosphere 1st class.Pay this place a wee visit.

Nice bistro type with traditional oldie worldie decor along with modernity under one massive arching roof. Different restaurants serving various menu from international cuisine. Only downside, it can get crammed easily with overwhelming crowds at its peak. Otherwise, worthwhile visit to savour the atmosphere.

Metropolitan is a very busy bar in Merchant square attracting quite a trendy crowd, set over 2 levels and with seating area outside in the Square, it's a great place for a night out and if you don't like it there's so many bars both inside and outside the square just go somewhere else,. A modern bar and restaurant with a good vibe , service as you would expect and a fine range of drinks, but not the cheapest.

I didn't eat so can only comment on the drinks. I had vegan white wine, and my friends all have various cocktails. It did take quite a while for each individual cocktail to be made, and all the fruit and things in them were prepared to order. The price reflects the quality of the drinks. The member of staff that I spoke to was really friendly and helpful.

Was here for a 70th birthday lunch yesterday. Paul introduced himself to the birthday boy and his wife who arranged the event. He was extremely friendly and attentive throughout our stay. India assisted him serving our meals and drinks. The layout of the private room upstairs was beautiful. There is a lift to the upper floor which was great for some members of the group. The food was delicious and served timeously. After our meal, we all (32) went downstairs to a reserved area where the staff again were extremely friendly and helpful. When Paul finished his shift, he tookl the time to come and speak with the birthday boy and his wife, which was a lovely touch. A fantastic night was had by all. Well done to everyone for making this such a special day for David's 70th.

I was here for a few drinks, and it was nice. It's a bit loud for this time in the afternoon, and the music seems to be club remixes which clashes with the general atmosphere. It could be cheaper but you can't complain when it's table service!

Second time visiting for an afternoon tea. First visit, I had to ask for the tea to be served. I thought it was an oversight. Went again today and same thing happened we got our cake stand brought to the table super quick however, after waiting for 15 minutes I had to ask for the pots of tea this was not only not once but, twice. The clue is in the name AFTERNOON TEA. We waited long enough for the tea. To add insult to injury the cup was dirty & had to be returned & the tea pot lid was cracked.. The food which was lovely we ate up and left never to return again.. Very disappointed..

We were in at the weekend there, initially there were 4 of us but our group grew to 10, the management and staff were superb, friendly, accommodating and patient as we were rowdy im sure at times and over stepped the mark but they calmly and politely had a friendly word. Excellent food, friendly and efficient service and great view of the courtyard. Had a wonderful night with my wife. Couple of positve suggestions to help with COVID situation. Chairs should be cleaned as well as tables after each guest and staff should wear face coverings over their nose as well as their mouth. Would also suggest customers pour their own wine. All in all great experience!

We went to Metropolitian on Saturday with our friends from down south. Despite being excentionally busy the staff managed to find us a table. It is a very busy bar in Merchant Square in Glasgows Merchant City. The decor is very modern and has a very trendy vibe. Our friends were impressed and loved the venue. We were served fairly quickly. Cocktails range from around £8-£12 each and there is a large variety to choose from. The cocktails are delicious and high quality. Defo worth the money in my opinion. We would highly recommend this bar. Staff were polite, helpful and attentative and drinks were top notch. Defo worth a visit.

Ok - so when we finally got our cocktails they truly were fantastic however the arduous wait to get served was nearly enough to put us off. I am however glad to report we hung in there and the results we well worth it. Buzzing cocktail lounge with seating into the square. Gets VERY busy at the weekend but with the bar staff paying such attention to detail it is hard to get agitated with the slow service. Will visit again out side of peek hours!

What a fantastic place, really atmospheric and so big, great for big parties or smaller intimate dates. Cocktails are fantastic. Easily the best in Glasgow. Ask for something not on the menu! Challenge these guys they are really talented. Special recommendation to the staff Claire, Beth, she was easily the best so attentive, fast without looking rushed and beautiful personality. Went for the early evening wine and dine on a Sunday. It was reasonably quiet, the service was quick and the food was delicious. Would definitely recommend to anyone wanting a quiet meal in Merchant Square. (some of the tables are in view of the large projector if you want to watch a football match while you're there)

Popular with hen and stags. Good food although the quality has seemed to decline over the years I've been going. There's a great stock of drinks and they do amazing cocktails. Very busy on Saturday nights with live DJs. The indoor patio at the back is nice for larger groups to eat out as it's not in the main restaurant and looks into merchant square (an indoor square surrounded by more pubs, bars and restaurants.)

Not expensive by Glasgow standards, but still not great if you're on a budget. Lovely atmosphere, even had a pianist there when I happened to be visiting. Can be short on sitting space though, because everywhere is when it's busy in Glasgow. Not brilliant for wheelchairs, but I'm sure if you ask the staff they'll accommodate!

Really enjoyed the prosecco and steak here. The steak was well cooked and very tasty but would have been much easier to eat on a plate. Mine was served on top of the chips (making them soggy) and salad in a pasta bowl!? Very awkward to cut steak when it's piled on top of things. Also rather heavy on the red onion in the salad. The pate was nice too but not enough oatcakes (a familiar problem in many places) although I was brought some more when I asked. We were there for lunch at a free event - the service was great and the place is nicely decorated in a modern yet comfortable style.

Another wonderful little bar in the Merchant City. The Metropolitan is a very cozy little place that is small and inviting. I did not try the upstairs but the little table I sat at and enjoyed my St Mungo's was quite lovely. I would definitely recommend the Metropolitan for grabbing a drink with your boy friend as it is way more romantic than most of it's near-by competitors

This little restaurant located in merchant square is lovely, great chilled atmosphere in lovely surroundings, the kind of place to be to feel a little fancy without breaking the bank. I went with my wife for a pre-bought meal for 2 which included 2 course each and a bottle of wine to share. I had the scallops to start at a £4 supplement and the steak for main for a £6 supplement which was worth the extra. The scallops were fresh and cooked to perfection and the steak was cooked medium rare as per my request and was a lovely cut (think it was rib eye) and was seasoned to perfection. It was a deal so it wasn't the biggest or most extravagant cut of steak but was very tasty. The house white was refreshing and complimented my meal particularly the scallops very well and the staff were super friendly and a good level of attentive. I would recommend this place for a lovely Saturday afternoon lunch with some drinks and maybe a wee walk around the market they have in the merchant square at weekends.

Went for lunch. Food was really nice but service wasn't the best. Wrong things turn up and had to ask a 2nd time of things. Asked for a highchair for little one and turned up very dirty, cleaned it myself.

Have eaten here a couple of times and most recently had an afternoon tea there (gifted a voucher) it pales in comparison to other afternoon tea options in the city centre. We had to work out who got what as there was an uneven number of sandwiches meaning someone missed out on one type. I struggled to choke back the flapjack, the scones were lacking size and flavour and the strawberry tart was a huge let down - a tiny pastry case threatened with cream and a little sauce. We were crammed into a table for two next to a post that meant very restricted movement and nowhere to put my bag. It wasn't a horrendous experience but I wouldn't recommend it for afternoon tea. Choose somewhere else.

Me and the Girlfriend went to Glasgow for a post Valentines - Valentines day. We were told to hit the Metropolitan as it had great cocktails. My girlfriend worked in one of Dublin's top cocktail places at the time and she wanted to challenge this. Anyway I can honestly say she was taken back by how good they were. We tried a good cocktails, we asked our waitress what she would recommend and she was great a qualifying our needs. I wanted something with whiskey and sweet and herself wanted something a bit softer and playful on the pallet. The cocktail that was suggested was Scotch based, Maple Scotsman(maple & Auchentoshan) and I'm not a fan of scotch but they blend of the cocktail was incredible!!! And would be tough to find a challenger of this. She got a Lazy Cocktail - french berret - such a fancy champagne glass - Chambord Pineapple juice blackberrys... so so so yumme Anyway, the waitress showed us the menu and after a fun day rambling around the city looking and Rennie Mackintosh museums and various others, we were very hungry. They had a great selection on the menu, very traditional scottish, but some nice modernness which suited the style of the place. So what did we get I hear you ask? Starter Scallop with chrizo to share, WOW honestly WOW! She got the rack of Lamb with butternut squash and cabbage. The cabbage was way better than anything mother use to make. lol I had the Steak Sirlion hand cut chunky chips, and some delicious peppercorn sauce. I love mine medium, and it just could not be more perfect(is that a word?) Dessert time.. my eyes were bigger than my belly and I was stuffed afterwards. For me... Sticky toffee pudding = lovely! Simply Lovely(with caps) I also picked on her Metropolitan Cheesecake, the manager recommended we got this as it was based on the house cocktail- creme de cassis, vodaka, strawberry and cranberry... I couldn't stop smiling, I do love a good Cheesecake. What I loved was they had a Rainbow of shots, I really wanted to try this, but I was way way way to full. I may have pigged out. Anyway we thoroughly enjoy ourselves, and stayed after in the inside/outdoor area in the venue and have a few more drinks. When I am back in Glasgow, which I hope is soon, I will be adding this to my GO TO list.
