Reviews of Òran Mór

Pretty good. The staff were extremely friendly. I ordered the fish and chips, they were cooked very well, quite greasy in the middle though. Beer was good. It's in a really cool building, definitely worth checking out!

We had the absolute best wedding we could have imagined at this venue. Everything was perfect from the very first day of planning all the way until the end. Pauline was such a wonderful person to work with! We wish we could do it all over again! ❤️❤️❤️ Thank you for everything. Can't wait to come back for another visit or maybe someone else's wedding! Photo by David Grant Simpson.

Pie and a Pint Panto was superb today, top marks for the writing and acting. Had a pint before hand and entertaining barman singing Mr Henky the Christmas Poo. Where else but Glasgow. Love it.
j. k.
Lovely venue, we had a wedding there. It was very efficient. Beautifully done out.Toilets need a bit of care in the disabled one. Staff were helpful.
T. W.
What an amazing venue. The only reason I can't give it 5* is because I think they should invest in A/C in the upper function room. Other than that it was perfect. Fantastic food! Sharp service and obviously a beautiful room. Was well worth the trip up from Coventry for the visit.
E. L.
Great place for a few cocktails with friends. Very social nighttime atmosphere with quirky decor. Also has a downstairs that is set up for concerts and music. It’s good size for seeing artists at it is quite small and intimate. I have also seen many people have ceremonies and wedding here. This place seems to do it all! Haven’t tried the food.
T. H.
Beautiful pub in an old church. The place is incredible and I loved the John Muir room!
M. K. S.
Great pub, bar & food place in a church opposite Glasgow Grosvenor Hotel
Classic ambience of a pub
H. F.
I attended a wedding here a few weeks back. The function room is huge, it’s where performances are put on, the decor is beautiful with murals on the walls. The food was lovely, and although the service was quick, some of staff were a bit surly. I’m not sure if they are mistreated or just tired but it was a bit of a shame. Other then the whole experience was wonderful!
M.
Food is really good, architecture is amazing, service was good and friendly. Nothing to complain at all.
n. g.
Have you ever had a whiskey in an old church pub? Well it's really interesting and I highly recommend it. Was such a catch
A. R.
Candlelight - Fleetwood Mac , great experience in the auditorium at Oran Mor. Bar service could have been quicker when it was open but rest of the night was great!
l. m.
Fantastic Christmas lunch with my family. Food was amazing and they had catered to my daughter who is vegan/gluten free.
Shout out to Lewis who made sure we had everything we needed. Definitely be back next year. 🌲🌲🌲🥂🥂🥂 …
P. M.
Fabulous conversion of a church. Multi purpose place - saw main bar (stunning!) & brasserie. Lovely Sunday lunch. Only slight concern was that the roast potatoes were new ones - so not really chrispy outside. But staff were lovely and would be happy to return.
a. s.
Very good ambience,
Great place to organise the corporate party or any private party.
Variety of the drinks available,
However I was looking for mulled wine which wasn't available.
C. e.
Lovely bar to go with family friends
Staff are all lovely. Always receive a
5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ service
d. m.
One of the best bars in the West end area, suitable for all! Food is great and wide selection of drinks available. Can often be busy at the weekend but still very quick to get a drink and a great atmosphere
P. B.
Kiki was amazing today. Music was fabulous and well written, very entertaining. Hope everyone going to see it enjoys it as much as we did.x
Clive and Hilary, your cast are lucky to have you both, all amazing.x
S. W.
Another Play a pie and a pint. This time the winter panto. Wonderful. We are going through a set of bad news at moment and to have an hour and a bit of laughter and loosing it a fantastic performance. If you don't know Plat pie and pint you are missing a huge chunk of entertainment. (The pie was very good as well).
M. S.
Fantastic place! Great food and a wonderful atmosphere. Steak pie was amazing. Will definitely come back if future travels take me to Glasgow.
M. D.
Spent most of the day 2pm-10pm attending a rock and blues event.
Extremely well organised and stewarded. Wide variety of beers and spirits available. The restuarant(s) catered for all tastes served by happy staff. Great venue.
T. C.
They need to sort the staff out, door staff that don't engage and the bar staffed by teenagers twiddling their thumbs, with little interest in work. Limited selection of beer, but live music was good, and the place looks nice enough.
B. B.
I've been here for concerts a few times. Great venue that's not too big. the drinks are good prices too. unlike some venues which sting you for a drink!
K.
Great fish and chips. The beer was good enough but not great 🤷🏼♀️ …
V. L.
I had a lovely night ruined at the end by the aggressive security staff who took my drink from my hands outside without realising it still was 9:50pm, without a word and threw it to the floor. They had no identification as it is their obligation. They were rather insecurity staff obviously with no appropriate training. All other staff of the house gave us a nice treatment and make us have a lovely time.
M. B.
My friend took me for a pie, a pint and a play recently. It was a lovely way to spend an hour or two. The seats in the theatre were a bit uncomfortable but otherwise it was a great experience, I recommend it as therapy for the current cost of living crisis.
E. S.
Went to see David hayman in time's plague . It was awesome!! Great venue, lovely staff!
H. “. t. I.
Love this venue!! Great gig and then disco after. 🥰Had many an office Christmas Party here too. Bar staff were fab. …
G. C.
Comfy classic bar in the west end, cool interior and good range of drinks. Had a choice of alcohol free beer which was great and a cozy vibe, great for chatting with pals
R. R.
I had dinner at the restaurant which had a lovely and intimate setting. I also had a chance to glimpse into the beer hall which is very atmospheric and highly recommended for a few pints with friends. Food at restaurant is decent and every ingredient was perfectly cooked. But compared to similar priced Scottish restaurants which I had been, the flavour of dishes are quite 1 dimensional and not as complex. Overall still a good place for dinner.
T. G.
Attended x Ambassadors concert here. Nice place.
M. S.
A place I've been meaning to visit for ages. Quite a busy Friday night. Not too busy to get a table and have a meal. Good food and good choice of beers, etc.
e. b.
Nice staff, a bit pricey for drinks downstairs basic but good for gigs.
Met some really nice people, went to see mac Fleetwood, not my thing .
K. M.
Great place for live music but the audience are always noisy. I'd prefer if they went upstairs if they want to talk. It's disrespectful to the person on stage.
m. e.
Panto was fab although the queuing system was bit chaotic and seating in auditorium was too cramped for comfort.
Main bar area was fine tho. Would visit bar again
S. J.
Absolutely fantastic, took my wee Ma an lemon curd to play a pie an a pint, seen, 'The sheriff of Shettleston and it was amazing best one yet I've been the last 4 there my mammys 1st time and she was wettin herself, shows full of one liners excellent acting singing and audience participation, quality pint of the black stuff excellent pie and plenty seating, 💯 pc recommended for all!
J. K.
Visited late on a Friday for drinks and it was very hot inside, and very busy. No outside area available to be able take your drink with you, considering the heat inside this was frustrating.
T. G.
Certainly an unusual experience to drink and eat in a church. It's a very nice spot though. Definitely a must try when in the area.
They make great classical haggis, offer good beer and such. Staff was very pleasant too.
L. H.
I really like this place, good food, good selection of drinks. They also do plays downstairs and gigs, totally worth checking the listings. It's accessible to wheelchairs through the bistro entrance, then there's a lift to all floors, but there's not an outside button so you have to get someone to go in to the bar to get them to open it outside bistro hours.
R. B.
Really nice pub. It's situated in old church, but the style inside is very nice and comfy. You have there wide choice of alcohol and good staff. It's interesting and whenever you are nearby it's worth to step for a drink.
N. d. L. D.
I love the fact this place used to be a church. They say in Scotland they have too many churches, and not enough demand, so they have to find things to do with them.
And making a church into a pub is about the best thing you can do with it, in my book.
The place looks amazing (see the pics) and they have a great selection of whiskys. The staff tries to be friendly, but their knowledge of whisky may not be up to par with some of their "competitors" (read my other reviews). They finish losing a star because they don't have proper tasting glasses.
M. B.
What a stunning venue, will definitely be back, well worth a visit and a must to catch a show if you can.
N. M.
Nice friendly atmosphere on a friday night and lots of interesting single malts to choose from if a whisky takes your fancy.
M. N.
Great smaller music venue in a generally very nice part of Glasgow. Drinks priced very reasonably and all the staff friendly. Would love to get back at some point.
J.
Great pub and events venue. Nice little garden out front for sunny day beers
K. C.
An exquisite conversion of a beautiful church into an inviting public house. The bar is gorgeous, the decor is very appropriate to the building but also the atmosphere. I always enjoy coming with friends to show off one of our favourite places to converse and grab a drink.
E. M.
Stunning old church made into a great pub with good and coffee. Staff super helpful and took my dad up to see the painted ceiling which made his day! Thanks again,!
U. G.
Visited for a 6pm dinner with a friend. Excellent service and friendly staff. Poor selection of wine and no wine list. I had a chicken wrap and garlic fries. She had the steak pie. We had sticky toffee pudding and vanilla cheesecake for dessert. A bottle of wine, 2 gins, a few real ales and a malt dram. Total bill was £78 ish plus a tip. Atypical prices for the area. Would go back.
C. L.
Incredible converted church, beautifully, sympathetically designed inside, lovely vibe and delightful selection of food and drink. A must visit!
S. M.
I played here with Bombskare. It was excellent. And the food was outstanding. All the stars..
D. I.
On Thursday the 9th of June, 2022, I was in the Byres Road area of Glasgow with my parents and we decided to eat at Òran Mór. It had actually been a long time since I'd been in it. It's a lovely converted old Church with a good selection of drinks at the bar. The menu was very different to the last time I'd eaten in it but we were still able to choose something and the food was really nice! The staff were very friendly and efficient also.
R. B.
5 stars for food and drinks and lovely interior, but 3 stars for prices. A place you come once in a blue moon because it is great, but you wouldn’t want to come here for casual drinks as it’ll make a big dent in your wallet
M. M.
Oran Mor exceeded my expectations! I think it’s really cool that they used an old church. The atmosphere was great, food was good, and the drinks plenty! For sure look forward to visiting again someday!
C. S.
A first time visit to this venue and it won't be the last. The bar was well stocked with friendly staff attending. Prices were reasonable to. The actual venue, regarding the band I'd come to see and hear, was excellent to.
D. W.
Awesome time Watching the show during the day and then back after for a few beers to finish the night. Really can't recommend this place enough for people who want to have a nice day out in the West end. Play was excellent, even if tourists seem to forget its a play so turn ofd your wrist watch and don't take flash photos
D. V.
After visiting the botanical gardens, I had a beer in this former church. Nice setting! Even on a sunny day, sitting inside is OK.
S. D.
Lovely staff and awesome food at the Bistro.
Would recommend for lunch, for sure.
Could do with some more interesting beers over the comprehensive wine list.
A. H.
Authentic pub in an old church, with various rooms available for different functions, and live music.
The main space is in the basement, but nicely appointed, with helpful staff. The draft selection was good, and the pub food was well prepared.
This is directly across the street from the Glasgow Botanic Garden.
S. N.
Had a very tasty haggis tart & beer sat out on the patio, great for people watching across from the botanical gardens, inside is huge and warm somehow- staff are really friendly - solid place to go for midday relaxation.
M. R. S.
I'm not a regular here but would say it has a charm about it and good place to come with friends. Some nights is can get really busy. In terms of events, the other halls are beautiful and great for functions. Location is fantastic and if you are traveling from outside of Scotland, I would recommend you pop into this place.
T. M.
Atmospheric place for a lunch of Cullen skink and a cheese omelette , was in the conservatory so missed out on much of the hubbub in the rest of the main bar area
a. b.
The play on Tuesday made me very emotional, the cast were fantastic and worthy of the standing ovation. It was a roller coaster of fun then sadness. All round loved it, the pies aren't half bad either😉 …
O. P.
£4 for a squooshie lemonade. Like, the lemonade that comes from the the dirty tap pipe thing they use to to make shandies.
I'll be having tap water.
C. M.
The bar is a great place for a Friday night out or after work pint. The Muir Room is a favorite if you can grab a spot. Definitely recommend.
M. R.
Dined in the bistro for dinner and had the £17.95 3 course pre theater dinner that included a glass of wine. Food was impeccable and large portions for the price.
We had the soup of the day and duck confit for our first course. For mains I ordered the chicken which I have to say is some of the best chicken I have ever had. Soft and full of flavor. My boyfriend ordered the beef rump meal which he very much enjoyed. We then had the cheese selection and sticky toffee pudding for dessert. Amazing meal!
A. S.
Was awesome and really enjoyed our little stop off here. Tasted a few whiskeys and had a look around was really cool from a tourists perspective. Thanks staff!
B. N.
Really, really cool. Low-key and surprisingly not crowded in the late afternoon/early evening when i went, maybe because people thought it was a normal church
M. C.
Good food and very good service. I enjoyed it a lot. Will be back there.
A. H.
First time here following return to Scotland. Great place. Went to see 'Time's Plague' by Chris Dolan with David Hayman, a favourite of mine. Excellent.
D. F.
Attended a live music event here. Was my first time visiting Oran Mor and I would definitely recommend. Beautiful venue and great staff
S. R.
Great food and friendly service, as a venue in a church it definitely catches the eye and is hard to miss!. It's located right in the heart of the west end which was really convenient for us. There are a variety of menu options particularly for vegetarians and vegans The pictures are of the vegetarian haggis and cheeseboard. If I'm in the neighbourhood I would definitely go again.
G. H.
As a wedding it’s absolutely stunning! Also a fantastic pub!
s. l.
This is a very tastefully converted church into bar, resteraunt, wedding venue and much more. There are multiple levels with ground floor being a whisky bar and restaurant. They had just put the Xmas decorations and done a beautiful job. They are currently doing both standard menu and Christmas menu. I opted for some very traditional fare and both starter and main were fantastic. Cullen skink for starter, a smooth creamy soup with smoked fish and potato, very generous portion and very flavoursome. Main was Haggis, Neeps and tatties, very tasty and again generous portions. The staff were great and made sure we had a good time and a special thank you to the Yorkshire lass for taking extra time to make us feel welcome. Prices are excellent and the food worth every penny. We will be back next time we're up in Glasgow. The photos do not do it justice but a flavour.
C. “. M.
Great bar with a good atmosphere. We visited for a play a pie and a pint. Great value!
C. C.
Had a lovely day in Oran Mor for Play, Pie & a Pint. Beautiful building, friendly staff and play was amazing. Will definitely do it again. 👍 …
F. M.
All round brilliant play, 'The Peace Piece' where sharp humour brings home the bitter reality of the Palestine people at A Play a Pie and a Pint
v. d.
What a beautiful venue and all staff and facilities where top class. Definitely worth a visit for a drink, concert or candlelight ballet
F. F.
Very lovely pub and atmosphere however I'd only recommend it for drinks, which are fortunately pretty cheap. The food is all moderately priced and there's a good selection however we didn't feel we got much for what we bought. The burgers don't include chips which is pretty uncommon and were not super filling. The food also took a while to arrive and we felt kinda cut off from the waiters at the back of the restaurant.
K. B.
Was at Blues Festival downstairs last Sunday. Wow what an event. Well organised bar well staffed. Service a swift and efficient.
D. H.
First time back at A Play A Pie and A Pint since the pandemic and it didn't disappoint. The play was very entertaining but perhaps more importantly the pie was one of the tastiest I've ever had. Excellent short pastry and very nice lamb, beautifully spiced. Lager was also very nice.
V. J.
Special place. Sister building you the Alfred Hotel. Pub theatre and music venue. Lots if local talent in images around the walls. Go...Just to have a look. Nice atmosphere!
A. K.
Place is amazing. Drinks are a bit expensive I would say. But ambience of place would never disappoint you
G. T.
Excellent pub food, big portions, good service. They even have some gluten free options available. The church itself is grand and the Botanical Gardens are right on the other side of the road. Keen observers can also spot a Tardis nearby.
L. C.
Love the atmosphere at Oran Mor & the foods nor bad either !!! Also a great music venue
F. D.
Good venu, but drinks overpriced. £16.60 for a pint and a large wine, which was so vile I couldn't even drink it.
A. P.
Great vibe, great drinks. Amazing place for a night out 😁😁 …
P. T.
Nice. Atmosphere and great service. Food was a bit slow coming out the kitchen but it was December
A. S.
We first went to the venue, which is in the basement of the church to attend the Celtic connections festival where Andrew Combs and Amy Helm were performing. The atmosphere was quite nice and the sound pretty good. The drinks were cheap enough. After the concert we headed to the main bar. I really enjoyed the two themed bars, one focusing purely on whiskey and the other one having some gins and other liquors. Between 10 and 11 they don’t serve any food which was a bit disappointing. Overall a pleasant experience.
B. B.
Great pub. Food took a while to come so they comp-ed it, which was good of them. Great selection of whiskies, try their whisky of the month.
E. G.
Nice intimate venue for gigs, very cool old church conversion, quite good bar prices for west end Glasgow
t. r.
At the panto, which was fantastic as was the pie! Only gripe, minor gripe.....wee bit cold in the theatre. I will be back though!
D. R.
First time here for a gig and was impressed. Good sound, good viewing positions and quick bar service. Pretty much all you want from a gig venue.
A. M.
Lovely little venue, good sound and in a beautiful area of Glasgow, will definitely be back
G. W.
Went to the bar for a drink. No music or anything but it was very noisy even though it was quiet. I think the acoustics just don't lend themselves to quiet chatting. Left with a sore throat from projecting my voice so much.
S. M.
Fun event, great bar, chill atmosphere.
J. C.
Best wedding experience. Excellent venue, perfect location, wonderful staff. Communication before, during the day, and after was amazing and everything went smoothly.
G. M.
I liked the place ; it's situated within an ancient church. Absolutely to go!
Pub Food very nice, òran burger strictly recommended
C. B.
If your in the west end and want to keep it chill but go late this is the place to be. Venue is a nice place too!
G. D.
Fab venue in a old church. They have pie pint and play for a tenner on Saturdays. Where else can you get the value ? Fantastic. No music in the bar.
F. S.
One of a kind in West Glasgow. Had the delicious steak pie. Nice patio outside for a sunny day.
D. W.
I've always liked the relaxed atmosphere of this pub. Decent surroundings and attentive staff add to the feeling of settling down for a comfortable time. Foodwise, my wife had haggis, neeps and tatties and I had the fish, chips and mushy peas: excellent!
R. L.
This place is great. Staff is young and a little on the inexperienced whiskey side to complement their selection, but they’re ver bailing you help and try to answer any questions. Amazing Selection and incredible prices to boot. Food menu is decent too. I had the Scottish salmon starter which was tasty and fresh. Impressive selection of other world whiskeys too. Multiple levels and very well run
I. S.
Pleasant beer garden - great in nice weather. Helpful friendly staff. Nice food...we had desserts just!
M. C.
Excellent location, fantastic food, beautiful building and above all polite and helpful staff. Certainly recommend this place. Thank you.
I. m.
Been here quite a few times. It’s a nice, decent sized venue for gigs, the sound is very good and the bar service is speedy. Maybe too quick in throwing everyone out, but I guess they gotta reset for the nightclub side of the business. Handy location for driving, parking, drinking or the Underground is only a few minutes walk away.
S. M.
Fantastic gig - who would knew German oompah band would be such fun!
V. A.
A really good place to have a drink, dinner or company events.
M. D.
Here for Zeal & Ardor gig, band excellent, venue, your usual sweat box 😜 …
J. M.
Nice place, but they dont stock Jack Daniels.
J. M.
Great atmosphere. Play, pie and pint make a really enjoyable experience. (Don't have to have Scotch pie!! Vegetarian option available). Can have wine (not a pint!) or beer.
K. C.
A must visit in Glasgow! Gorgeous church with cozy pub inside.
J. F.
One of Glasgow's best pubs. Good choice of beer and good menu. Best of all is the extensive range of malt whisky, ideal for trying the harder to find varieties. The staff are helpful and friendly. I can highly recommend this establishment.
J. C.
Always enjoy a pint here when visiting Glasgow, nice buzz!
D. R.
This converted church (like most churhes in the UK) is really still well preserved and used.. just the worshipers have changed somewhat ... the spirit is still very welcoming
C. A.
How cool! A nightclub in a converted church! We started in the first floor which is a very welcoming and friendly pub. We later went downstairs to the club, which was playing mostly older, cheesier music, but we still had a really, really great night!
G. R.
It’s a great venue for all sorts of things. I visited with a friend for a quick meal. Service was good and so was the food. It lacked the wow factor so I am awarding 4 stars. However I have no complaints and will be back.
T. R. A.
Very nice venue, situated inside an old church.
A. P.
Attended for Eric Gales gig. Everything went smoothly and a great gig. Nice atmosphere. One small point would be and is the same for every gig ever.... there's never enough bar staff. Other than that brilliant.
C. J.
Went to Oran Mor with my wife to see Aaron Watson and had an awesome time - relatively intimate venue and great gig that had the crowd jumping. Area in front of the stage was crowded but was a great atmosphere for a midweek show, would definitely come back
B.
This is a lovely gem in the West end of Glasgow. A good selection of drinks and the food is fantastic! Only thing to watch out for is that it is very pricey! Worth a visit though!
M. H.
Really great venue for live music, a good size for intimate feel but can get a lot of folks in., Only drawback is the lack of good beer in the music venue. Would be good to have some sort of IPA or similar.
G. B.
Yes another bucket list achievement. It was a fun way to spend a wet lunchtime. The main bar is comfortable
M. R.
Great place to eat and drink and a good music venue
A. H.
Saw a gig at The Venue. Great size of room to create a good atmosphere for a small gig.
J. L.
I enjoyed my meal of haggis, tatties and neeps it just needed more of the whisky sauce which was superb . The wife's steak was not rested long enough. We then went down stairs for the live music. We had 5 drinks of the exact same and somehow they managed to charge us 1 price for 3 and another for 2 strange 🤔. 5 🌟,s for the band Cloudbusting. Superb as usual
M. O.
An absolute must for experiencing the west-end of Glasgow.
Great atmosphere, fantastic selection of spirits and a great selection of Malts.
Does its own Beer in a dark and light variety.
One of the most picturesque bars in Glasgow and one of the best known.
G. d. R.
What a pub! my favorite so far. Unfortunately I'm not from Glasgow but every time that I'm there this is a must pub to go! Good Selection of beers! I love the design and the atmosphere inside!
M. S.
Absolute superb performance today of 'the Inheritance'. Terrific script and acting - oh, and the vegan pastry was delicious. Stunning venue and great staff.
S. P.
Always Love A Visit, To The Oran Mor.
Tonight Was Live Comedy, With Stuart Goldsmith & Larry Dean. As I'm Disabled, The Staff Are Always Incredibly Helpful ❤
J. H.
Great venue, friendly staff and just delivers more than expected. Highly recommend a Play, a Pie and a Pint. Fun, engaging and a great way to spend an hour.
M. O.
Amazing food, great staff and the atmosphere cosy and warm friendly
E. S.
My friend and I went to see Hans Zimmers Best Works at this beautiful venue last night.
The String Quartet were mesmerising.
A truly unique, intimate and uplifting experience.
J. L. f.
I have stopped in for a couple and spent an evening here-it was very busy but great atmosphere. Stunning venue, tons of character. Sadly no step free access.
O. C.
Great venue with different areas to see and it's a great wedding reception venue too
K. G.
I generally really like this venue, but the sound was a bit off for me this time, drowned out by the punters 😅 …
J. T.
Pint/Pie/Panto - Turned up late and got two pies. Laugh out loud and crying at some of the jokes and antics.
A. G.
Pretty good food, nice staff, really pretty pub
J. W.
First time there, won't be the last. Very enjoyable venue and the sun was shining too 😊 …
K. G.
A great venue for gigs avoid and drinks. Student vibe downstairs and check out the halo on the steeple. A Glasgow west end legend, this place is well worth a visit.
A. H.
Was at a gig here in the downstairs music venue. It's a great place for live music
R. L.
Loved it..excellent pub for a catch up with friends..gorgeous decor, great staff, great location
a. m.
Fantastic building in which you can have a drink and something to eat in comfy surroundings. The pie and a pint play experience is simply amazing. A perfect combination.
M. F. O.
Great club that I didn't know existed and good music too.
B. K.
My favorite pub in Glasgow by far. Great food prep and relaxed atmosphere.
J. C.
Absolutely Beautiful interior, Good Food & Service too.. Recommend Oran Mor as a place to try👍 …
D. D.
Nice looking venue for events, "interesting" lighting, nice starter and dessert, mediocre main.
m. c.
A bar and venue situated in an imposing old church. The main bar is extensively decorated with original and reproduction art works and the foyer features a mural by Alasdair Grey, who also designed the entrance to the local subway station. The atmosphere is polite and arty, maybe a little pretentious? There are bouncers on the door. It's not a craft beer place, but the beer I drank was a local pale ale of some character and they had some bottles of German beer, too. I didn't come in for food, but they'd be fools if they didn't provide it. It has restaurant written all over it. A nice place to come to in new clothes, with a birthday to celebrate or on a first date.
M. P.
Quiet, uncrowded, lively looking, comfortable place and good drinks.
T. C.
Lovely decor and great variety of choice in food and drink.
A. A.
A very creative environment come that used to be a church and now it's a bar with lots of different rooms and different seating options. We got a great corner table and had some great cocktails and good people watching
T. G.
I forgot what an great place this is. I'm always put off by the crowds outside. But we had a wake upstairs and then down to the bar where we were looked after brilliantly.
Plus, it's got good beer.
A. R.
We were at a "candlelight concert" in the main area upstairs. The setting is beautiful and staff were very helpful.
We've eaten and attended gigs here before, and always found Oran Mor to be a great place. We will come back, and good to see pie a pint and a play back on
M. B.
Great small venue for watching gigs , excellent staff and friendly atmosphere
L. H.
Brilliant night ... great atmosphere ... band were fabulous
R. A.
My daughters wedding ceremony and after party held in oran mor yesterday. Big shout out to staff they were brilliant. The venue was amazing the food was amazing, the female singer was amazing would highly recommend this venue 100%
B. O.
Converted church multi functional as a pub arts venue & space for weddings. Loved the decor and great selections of beers attended a gig in the club area on Saturday loved it x
E. R.
Once of my favourite spots in Glasgow as a lifelong fan of Alasdair Gray. Such a beautiful space, and the food and drinks is fantastic too!
j. m.
This place has to be seen to be believed. We had a pint in the bar, then went to the Play a Pie and a Pint which was brilliant. We went back that night to see Dane Baptiste's stand up comedy show. All it was excellent. My only wish was that the selection of beer was as good in the venue area as in the bar where they had a lovely pint called Oran Mor dark. I would recommend based on that and the awesome building alone.
N. S.
Amazing place. Pub in the church. Must see place in Glasgow!!
R. M.
Excellent venue and very grateful to the staff for their help (which was offered without asking)for my reduced mobility. Thanks to all, made a great night a lot easier for me and my wife.
I attended Wreckless Eric 25th May.
C. C.
Great atmosphere, beautiful building and the food was lovely 😊 …
J. W.
Great place with excellent facilities. Events downstairs and weddings held here too. Good bar and food menu. Would definitely visit again.
j. m.
Must rate as one of the classiest bars in the UK. Had a few drinks after a jazz festival concert downstairs. Perfect combination.
T. Q.
I was in the basement. The live music was good. But then I think that's more to do with the band then the venue. Nothing exceptional about the venue itself either for our against it. I probably wouldn't go if it wasn't for the band and company. Other parts upstairs are quite different but I don't know them.
s. m.
Excellent panto yet again well worth a visit
C. C.
Great old pub and excellent music venue downstairs.
Y. S.
We booked the brasserie for lunch for my mother in law's birthday through the website earlier in the week as it was a nicer menu than the standard menu in the bar.
The booking was accepted for lunch.
We were running slightly late as traffic was bad, and we're only advised when we got there that the brasserie did not open until 5 pm & that we would need to eat in the bar, so at such short notice we had no choice in the matter, as most places will only accept bookings.
Due to this late notice we ended up with the bar food menu & not the menu we had originally booked so we were extremely disappointed.
Why does the booking for this particular part of the venue let you book tables for lunch if they do not open until 5 pm & why did know one contact us to let us know.
Pretty poor customer service, I expect better from a place like this.
J. T.
Was really looking forward to my first visit to this establishment. Positives were easy booking, good communication/reminders nice pleasant environment and the lovely waiter who served us who was polite, helpful and professional. Sadly list of negatives was slightly longer. Staff on night appeared unaware of our booking (despite frequent email reminders they sent) presented with £39 Festive menu with only 4 main meal options, told no other menu/choices available, had to ask twice before Manager agreed I could be offered chicken dish being served in another part of restaurant, portions very small, dessert awful, wine charged at £2 more than priced on menu. Very little choice of food and, not value for money. Machine brought to table to pay before we had requested to pay to hurry us out.
Won't be rushing back.
a. d.
Great bar, lovely decor, beautiful building. Good selection of beers, great selection of whisky. Food menu has plenty of choice, traditional Scottish upmarket pub grub. Chose the fish chips, wasn't disappointed, but have had better. Great portion size would happily order again. Knocking a star off for putting salt on the onion rings. Who puts salt on onion rings - a light sprinkling of parmesan or maybe some herbs, but not salt. Also, there was far too much salt. Lost the flavour of the batter and the onion.

Went to see a play, then quick whisky upstairs, all good 👍 …
M. S.
Went to see the Snuts. Nice friendly staff and great venue.
M. N.
Had the most profound experience with a member of your staff. It think it was a spirited lad called Doug? He went above and beyond what I've experienced of hospitality staff. If that man is on minimum wage I would be disappointed, VERY graciously accepted a tip and dispite my insisting for him to keep it he assured me it would be split between everyone.
E. D.
Very nice ,I enjoyed myself
M. F.
Went to the pie pint and a play. It was fab. My first time there. The play was excellent and we were captivated throughout the performance. Look fwd to next time
D. M.
Love going here, prices are a bit steep, but it is Glasgow West End after all and you have to compensate for that. How they can charge the same price for alcoholic and non alcoholic beer is a mystery to me.
I. F.
I wanted to like this place much more 😪
Warm, watery drinks served in inappropriate glassware with the wrong garnish was a warning sign. The house red was frankly a crime against nature.
But stick to a pint of Tennent's lager in here and you'll probably be OK 👍
E. R.
Beautiful pub with a hall above for any event bookings
R. M.
Staff excellent, especially a girl called Sharon, who had us all laughing
J. T.
Really big bar at end of byers road food very good and staff pleasant. We went round the corner to the basement of oran mor for a theatre play of the butterfly kiss which was excellent and the cast was hugely talented all in a great night out
G.
The venue itself is very good...the problem is the door staff, they refused one of our party (maybe they just didn't like the look of him) for no good reason. I find this attitude typical of Glasgow doorstaff. In the past I've been refused entry when I hadn't even been drinking and tooted my horn as I drove past.
J. D.
Had dinner and drinks there. Haggis, neeps n tatties - delicious😋 lovely place, would highly recommend and the botanical gardens are right across the road, beautiful and a lovely relaxing wander around kibble palace. Love Glasgow, my city ❤❤ …
J. M.
Great gig with Dave Hause, loved the venue.
l. l.
Great time at A Play a Pie and a Pint. ALWAYS a joy to visit they have the best scotch pies and with gravy. Lovely friendly staff and as always super entertainment.
C. M.
Fabulous bar but could do with some other entrance/exit for the downstairs play, pint n pie. The girls were very good at coraling us all into a big queue. The panto as usual was very well done, you've got to love the Scottish banter. We saw cinderrella 2,i married a numpty. Brilliant show.
M.
Nice pub in an Old Church building. Haggis Burger was great.
K. M.
I love this establishment, soooo much to enjoy from the venue, upstairs where my sister got married, the bistro for intimate or family dinners, or a play and a pint at lunch time. On this occasion, out kilt shopping with my friend we ended the afternoon surrounded by Great characters to chat too, and Glasgow's theatrical and artistic history displayed on the walls. The gantry is complete, whatever you desire and a brilliant beer garden for fresh air chat. It's always on my list for friends visiting the city. Service is friendly but unintrusive, bar staff charming and facilities faultlessly clean.
L. W. t. T.
Went to our first Oran Mor panto which was great fun. Exactly what was needed in these strange times. Fantastic acting, great current script and pint and good included. Socially distanced and everyone complying with covid regulations. Great 👍 …
S. L.
Stunning building and a pleasant atmosphere
A.
Brilliant place to see a show and grab a drink
S. R.
A former church, now a bar. The food is delicious and the size of the serving is enough. Good beers and drinks. A nice place to celebrate a birthday or to gather with friends.
J. F.
Good "Scottish" cusine. Might need reservations at busy time. Site offers meals and is also a location for theater. Directly across from the Botanical Garden.
A. W.
Love Oran Mor go to summer panto every year, beautiful venue, fab atmosphere, food always nice, this year after panto was privileged to witness a wee impromtu marriage proposal 💍 …
R. L.
We visited for a pie, a play and a pint and we really enjoyed it. I'm originally Glaswegian, but live in Birmingham now, and it had me lamenting for Glasgow.
J. M.
First time inside after passing many many times. Went to see 'Rose' as part of the Play, a pie and a pint deal. Scotch Pie, brown sauce - what's not to like. The play itself was absolutely crackin' a must see for any footie fan! Heading back in December to see the Panto - Oh Yes We Are!!
O. R.
Ye olde faithful of Glasgow's West End. The Mor never disappoints.
f. g.
Service ok although food could have been warmer. One of our party had to return his lunch as it was cold. Good value for money all round.
N. M.
I enjoyed my visit to the Oran Mor there is a good atmosphere and the staff are lovely. There is also a great selection of alcohol.
A. I.
Very nice place with both indoor and outdoor seating.
D.
Incredible bar. Great fun, but I don't remember a lot of it.
M. M.
Great live music venue. Fantastic atmosphere, security staff were brilliant, they really looked after someone who took ill at the gig.
J. H.
Great venue. Helpful staff too
A. E.
Beautiful location, but the bar tenders were a bit cold and lack of any cocktails or list of their purported 300+ whiskeys is wildly unhelpful.
O.
Food is nothing breathtaking, but that doesn't mean its not good, neat place
L. (.
First time here. I loved the size of the venue & informal atmosphere. Drinks not a stupid price & I really appreciated having jugs of iced water available at the bar. Toilets were reasonable which is refreshing. I drove up from the Lake District & definitely thought the gig I attended was worth the journey. Will return. Also, with a short walk I managed to park in an unrestricted area for free.
M. D.
Fond memories at this perfect small yet big music venue.
P.
Food was good but came out cold, service was very slow
S. L.
Second time being here for an event staff always friendly and helpful
u.
Hard to find the entrance but great when inside, The men they couldn't hang were awesome
R. G.
My first proper gig since March 2020, The venue is lovely, and Thea Gilmore was fabulous. Her first tour as a solo artist, playing guitar and piano, with great use of a loop pedal.
The venue was well laid out and there were no restricted views. Covid QR code on entry, hand sanitiser available, and not over crowded.
Drinks prices were reasonable with a wide selection of drinks.
e. k.
The 'Pie, play n pint' is always a fantastic live play well worth seeing. 'Hello in there' is an amazing play well worth seeing. Made me cry 😪. …
A. M. B.
If you get a chance to go for noontime A Pie, A Pint, A Play, don't miss it.
s. b.
Really cool place (I mean its in an old church) with really good food and friendly staff.
My portion was slightly smaller than I'd have expected but others in my group got huge portions so your mileage may vary but it was all really tasty good food
I. M. R.
Great venue for music and theatre as well as a good bar restaurant.
J. I.
Travelled down from Aberdeen with my wife, daughter travelled over from Edinburgh. Paid £30 per ticket in anticipation of a swan lake ballet experience. What we actually got was one hour of a string quartet(reasonable) and two kids who I can only assume have recently taken up ballet trying hard but not having the strength or skill to fully carry it off. After paying £90 for 1 hour for 3 people I'd say it was around £10 per person (£30 value max). This was a complete rip off and the price for 80 people in the room totalling £2,400 cannot be justified. The lady who shouted out 'I won't be back, I paid for an orchestra and a ballet, not tap dancing is absolutely right. Oran Mor, hang your robbing head in shame.
R. T.
Great looking venue. Brasserie service was very slow and the food quality is always somewhat mixed - sometimes excellent, sometimes not so much (the meat dish I had was overcooked and dry).
T. R.
Amazing bar! The place used to be a church, that's cool!
C. B.
Enjoyed Jah Wobble - some sound issues but not sure blame could be laid at the soundman/venue's door for them; great 'wee' venue - like the old days/how gigs should be
D. M. (. M. L.
As a former member of Glasgow University Hares and Hounds I was invited to attend their Centenary Dinner and Ceilidh at Òran Mór. Spectacular venue and a very special night. Most enjoyable.
S. D.
Beautiful pub in an old church. Bar service was good even though they were very busy. Felt slightly intimidated by bouncers on the door. Ideally we would have booked in advance.
W. H.
One of the most impressive pubs I have ever been to. Looks amazing from the outside. Inside is a straightforward centre bar with tables, booths around the wall. The interior is beautiful as it would be in such an old building. A great place to stand in with a pint and just look around. And open until 3am at the weekend.
C. C.
Great pub with restaurant quality food.
A. M.
nice place for a drink. great for groups and affordable drinks but bit loud for dates
D. C.
I love this bar. It's my favourite in all of Glasgow. It has a wide range of whisky and beer and it's a beautiful place to waste a few hours chatting away.
S. R.
We had an excellent night here, good food, good drink in an excellent location either a good atmosphere. Lewis looked after us well, hope we can get back sometime before too long.
J. M.
PPP was a bit hit or miss , it was a miss for me last week , will not put me off
M. P.
We were here to celebrate our son's graduation and could not have had a better time. Food was wonderful. The range of drinks available was just as good. We had a great time, and that's what really matters. The venue certainly made that easy. Thank you!
T. C.
Just a fantastic place for a beer and a gig. Never disappoints. Would give more than 5 stars if I could
C. D.
Friendly staff, welcoming, comfortable and reasonable prices. Always looks clean and feels safe. Will be popping in on my next visit to Scotland.
I. K.
Enjoy the beer garden when possible. Nothing to not like about this place, friendly and lively.
P. K.
Service was great food was absolutely dynamite great experience thank you
M. L.
Great atmosphere. The vegan burger was a bit dry but the overall experience was very enjoyable.
C. M.
Nice pub. Good friendly staff
F.
Amazing experience pub in post church, lovely food as well!
J. H.
Brilliant thanks to all the staff had a great time at wedding on Sunday
M. H.
That place is good for get together with friends. Also this place is open till 3 am . I am non alcoholic person so I don't give review about the drinks
M. G.
Had Christmas Dinner here with the family, the food was great, the atmosphere was lovely and Christmasy, and the service was really exceptional. The staff bent over backwards to anticipate what we needed, and you could see they really wanted to make the day special. First time I've eaten out on Christmas day and I would recommend it very highly. Also great value for Christmas day.
B. H.
Great location and bar. Loved the decor, good beer and good drink selection. Prices are good contrary to some reviews. £3.50 for a pint is standard for the UK. Londoners will love the prices for instance. Havent tried the food but it looks good from seeing it pass the table. Well worth a visit and we will be back when next in Glasgow.
G. S.
Great small venue, perfect for intimate gigs.
M. K.
Brilliant venue, beautiful building, good service
G. R.
Was at a wedding here and the venue was superb, Food was superb and the staff organising the change from wedding ceremony to the seating for the meal were on the ball. Thoroughly enjoyed my day. Would have gave it 5. But for the bar staff downstairs who never seemed to notice who was at the bar 1st and just served at random. Bar staff upstairs were hard working and efficient.
G. F.
It's fine, generic food, expensive beer
C. W.
Great atmosphere clean and reasonably priced. Went to the comedy club excellent show great evening
J. J.
Excellent venue, great sound, nice atmosphere.
V. W.
What a fabulous experience this was - my first Glasgow restaurant...good beers, excellent Mac n Cheese with bacon - massive portion
Unfortunately The Skids had cancelled their gig on the floor above so we didn't get the full Òrab Mòr experience - but truth to tell it was worth it just for the food
c. h.
Great menu. Knowledgeable bartenders. Cool atmosphere.
A. W.
Loved it - perfect blend of old Glasgow with the more modern. Nice food. Good Drink. The interior is just as lovely as the exterior.
P. I.
Great place, amazing bar in an old beautiful chirch. Atmosphere is perfect. Went for a ballet event. Sadly the wine was under par.
L.
Best panto we seen in a long time
J. W.
Had a friend visiting and as a theatre student she wanted to experience Scottish theatre. Hadn’t heard of the place myself but now that I been, I can see my self going back. The price for a pint, pie and play was amazing. The quality of the play we saw as really good and we both thought that the actress did and amazing job
S. O.
Great atmosphere, very friendly, and unusual interior
B. L.
Church converted into very nice bar with quality food and traditional vibe. Ideal place for people who like to talk, as there was no background music.
C. B.
Love Òran Mór. Fantastic setting in an old church. Even better if you are lucky enough to access the first floor dining area with its wonderful eaves and high roof. The food here is great and they provide a fantastic range of beers and whiskies
R. E.
Covid safe bar. Visited last weekend. The staff were all wearing masks. The bouncers made sure the table sizes stayed under 8. There is lots of hand sanitizer. The menus were paper and single use. The staff cleaned the tables between uses, even outside in the beer Garden.
A. d. V.
Upstairs in the private dinning room we all thoroughly enjoyed our evening. Menu had excellent choices and preparation to detail was wonderful. For a small special event it's ideal. Highly recommended.
S. R.
I love this building (a converted church) which does food and drinks and also concerts downstairs. I've been many times over the years. I'd go for drinks with friends or a meal with family. On this occasion we were there for the panto (a play when not Dec), pie & pint which I'd highly recommend.
A.
Good pub with reasonable prices for the west end
J. C.
I'm probably posting more on behalf of my guest who was blown away by its splendour. And it is beautiful. And on this instance, the staff were decent.. But it was quiet. Having been when it's been busy, some of the staff are disgracefully rude and dismissive, and the manager wasn't overly bothered when I reported it. They don't do the legitimate bar profession any credit, as they bob about from one raised hand to the next, with little to know wider appreciation of the bar layout. That's what happens when you employ surly student youngsters who seem to think it's beneath them, I guess. To the extent an independent rep, working for a supplier, overheard how one of these brave chaps spoke to me when I dared try to attract his attention (politely), and commented how rude he was...he should be eternally grateful it wasn't in the street he chose that tone to be frank.
Summary..... Aesthetically grand venue. It will impress tourists. Good selection of drinks.... Inc malts. Staff decent until under pressure. So maybe stick to afternoons like I did this time. 😊
C. W.
Food was good staff very helpful and friendly beer good just visited for panto pie and a pint ,excellent!!
l. t.
Lovely guy named euan was very accommodating and made sure we had a great night! Couldn't recommend more!
N. C.
Great place for drinks. They also have a menu and the wait staff was polite and attentive. We did not here but the food looked good. The bar is in a beautiful old church with lots of space. In the basement there is a dance club too, it is a separate establishment. Definitely recommend this place for drinks.
T. A.
Great pub and gig venue but food needs spruced up as a little bland new menu a must.
P. M. U.
As a music venue, this place is very enjoyable. Because of its size, it creates a bond between the performers and the audience with that feeling of intimacy. Like most music venues, trying to get served at a busy bar is not always the easiest. However, this is a great venue for live performances.
A. S.
A nice, intimate basement venue for music concerts. Good sound and views of the stage except if you hide yourself behind a pillar.
K. P. T.
Great pub and really nice atmosphere.
G. A.
Really loved this! Only had the nachos but they were lovely! Staff very friendly and drinks really nice! Very cool inside!
A. L.
Love this place. Great pub, great atmosphere. And of a weekend night, downstairs is a superb club. No door fee, and sensible, friendly door staff. Prices are reasonable, service usually swift (given the number of customers).
T. M.
The place is beautiful, the staff are friendly and the food is amazing. We were a couple, ate fish and chips and a beef and both were amazing. Goos place to eat and drink.
D. N.
Great music venue. Great gig by The Men They Couldn't Hang.
A. W.
Great if you are looking for a unpretentious, traditional pub. You can try lots of different whiskies here and they don't play music so perfect if you want to sit and chat. The club downstairs is a great wee venue for gigs and their 'play, pie, pint' is popular and really fun. The nightclub can be a bit of a meat market as West End singles flock for a late night drinking venue.
R. K.
Was there for a comedy show, nice venue for this or live music, bar prices were way too expensive though and it was only soft drinks!
M. S.
One of the best bars on byres road.
Large selection of drinks
Plenty of seating
Lots of different rooms available for different occasions and different nights out.
There can be music and a band in one room.
There can be a wedding upstairs and a quiet bar for a conversation in one of the other rooms.
V. B.
Dined at the Brasserie here on a Saturday evening at 8pm and it was very quiet. The staff were very friendly and the restaurant is relaxed with attractive decor. The food was quite nice but I feel it was very expensive for the taste; compared to a lot of other places I have been.
D. H.
Love this place. Very atmospheric bar. We come from Kent to visit our son. This is his favorite place and now one of ours too. It's in a large old church with original stained glass windows and pretty Christmas fairy lights up all year round. Good selection of drinks, fair prices. They do food too, but we didn't fancy the menu so can't pass any comment. Other people were eating in there though.
R. G.
Have visited Oran Mor many times over the years, play pie and pint has made me laugh, cry, and love the music but they have surpassed themselves during this difficult time. I would like to make a special thank you to David in the box office he is efficient courteous and witty too the epitome of the Oran Mor ethos. We are so fortunate to have such a theatre in Glasgow. People make Glasgow but Oran Mor entertains Glasgow People.
W. J.
fantastic bar great ambiance, and a good selection of beers but the malt whisky selection is absolutely superb, we will be back.
L. A. P. S.
Amazing artistry, but not my cup of tea.
W. C.
Only get here for lunch, but the bar look pretty cool for a drink
S.
Nice spacious bar and bar staff top class considering we had 10 orders at a time. We had a great night and will return.
A. R.
One of the most beautiful pubs ever. Church converted pub so make sure you look up when inside.
D. G.
The venue and meal.last night could not have been better. Moreover. The efficiency and friendliness of the staff. Including the cloakroom attendant need to be emphasised too.
A. G.
Went to see the Christmas panto. Always very well done, and the pie and glass of wine you get as part of the ticket price, isn't too shabby either. Would thoroughly recommend visiting this venue. Great for intimate gigs.
r. r.
I love this place!! Once you get past the fact that you're drinking in a church, you get to enjoy delicious food, and a great selection of Whisky. Staff is very polite and friendly, the atmosphere is laid back and the crowd is very diverse in age. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking to have a drink and a chat with friends.
d. d.
Great West End Pub, large selection of beers. We visited the gig area as well and there was plenty of staff on which meant getting a drink was no problem prices were ok. Limited seating, toilets were clean, again great place to watch a band.
P. D.
One of my favourite pubs in the Westend.
Great extensive selection of drinks.
Ate here with friends. I ordered the Chicken Balmoral with whiskey sauce really enjoyed it highly recommend.
Friend had the steak and ale pie, she loved it.
Will return many times again.
J. E.
Good conversion of a church.. ground level is the venue..mostly Indy and roots music shows and nightclub action. The upstairs bar and restaurant are well laid out. Staff are great...whiskey choices are truly amazing!!
J. M.
Interesting restaurant!! (The food was just "OK" though).
R. C.
Nice atmosphere for a concert. Spacious and easy to navigate. Though the bar employs a minimum order to use a debit/credit card which is against most card supplier rules so dropping a star for poor service.
l. k.
Nice ambience, good variety of whiskey, friendly staff ready for suggestions, good prices, live music. Worth definitely a visit
M. R.
Beautiful building but a fairly average boozer. Fair beer selection but with nothing too interesting. The atmosphere is lively and the staff are great, and there's decent food served in the bar.
A. E.
Only had a drink here this time, but the building is beautiful and I'd love to go to a gig next time!
M. F.
As a gig venue 5 stars, unfortunately we had food before the gig. The steak pie was tepid so sent it back. The veg was almost raw & like bullets. Definitely won't be back for food. Friendly & helpful staff, great sound & beautiful building
J. K.
Great venue. Good mix of nicely priced beer and a mashed up dance floor
A. H.
Concerts in upstairs hall - excellent seating and bar facilities.
Z.
Food is unreal! The Macaroni cheese was to die for! Great location. Staff were fantastic, very chatty and full of banter. Warm and homely/cosy inside. Was here for the comedy night down the stairs which was well worth the money. Already planning on going back!
p. s.
Staff were fabulous. The setting for the concert we attended was gorgeous. Will deffo go again.
P. M.
It is the most iconic pub in the west end of Glasgow. Anyone should visit it at least once. Food is superb, they have a nice selection of beers, also a locally brewed one. Live Music and a splendid location!!!
M. M.
music's fans will love this wee place very intimate venue great for close ups of your favourite musicians and the bar offer a really good selection of lagers and beers to fulfill your night
E. B.
Great service, high quality menu choice and high quality , delicious food. Let down by the fact that i wanted something light for dessert so chose ice cream priced at £4.95, the waiter was unsure of the flavours available so I went for strawberry, vanilla and chocolate and hoped it would be delicious high quality ice cream as per the rest of the menu and surroundings - instead I was presented with something akin to a scoop each of Tesco Value strawberry, vanilla and chocolate ice cream - synthetic tasting cheap crap and although my 3 year old would have loved it, I felt ripped off to be charged £4.95 for this as I didn't even want to eat it, and the rest of the meal was good value.
A. C.
Panto was great, venue very good. Only giving 4 stars though as no vegan pies on offer. Otherwise all good.
S. W.
Great place will always go back when in Glasgow
D. F.
One of my favourite bars and even the restrictions didn't put me off popping in. Even better now restrictions have been lifted.
E. M.
We had our Christmas night out here this year and it was such a brilliant night. I had never been up to the function room before, absolutely stunning! It felt so chrismassy up there. Food was fabulous and a great band after the meal. Quite a diverse age range in our work, but everyone had a cracking night, young and old! Definitely booking up for next year again.
J. H.
Decent place for a couple of drinks, the atmosphere is always good, as well as the added novelty of drinking in a church. Prices are a bit steep though, so I personally never stay too long before moving on.
Can't comment about food.
Q. m.
Great beverages and architecture. Friendly and welcoming staffs. Could do with more selection on the taps.
G. B.
Attended my daughter's wedding at this beautiful venue.Staff friendly and helpful and the food was delicious.
I. W.
My sisters & myself were here 17th Dec. Lovely place fir a drink before going on elsewhere. We returned after our lunch.
m. d.
Impressive venue...good choice of beverages ,
M. C.
I have such mixed opinions about the Oran Mor. I've had a work Christmas lunch here, which was excellent. The upstairs bar is stocked with just about every spirit you can think of, however it does get extremely busy, and this can be a problem when trying to order a drink. There is a fairly large outdoor seating area towards the front of the building, which come the sunny weather is always packed. I think my negative feelings towards it comes from going to the club nights, which end up being extremely expensive even for the West End. Good for casual drinks, but plenty of better places to go for a night out.
M. C.
We visited here as an early Christmas pressie from my sister-in-law for a play about the Lisbon Lions (Glasgow Celtic's European Cup winning team). The play itself was very funny and most enjoyable. The location was definitely different to anywhere I have been before, with individual seats placed in rows, probably seating a couple of hundred people at a guess. There is a bar at the back so it's possible to have a drink (or two) whilst the show is on, something which is not too common in my experience. Overall, it was a good night, but the seats could never be described as comfortable, hence a star knocked off.

This place is really cool, built in old church and great decor. The pub (the other venues were closed when we visited) had a nice atmosphere with live music in the background that still allowed us to chat and hear each other. Great selection of drinks.

A pub in a church. Didn't know what to expect, but the food was REALLY GOOD, definitely notches above standard pub fair. The service staff knew their stuff, but seemed somewhat confused. Maybe it was our Canadian accents?
The place is definitely worth the visit if you're in Glasgow

Great pub, good atmosphere. So much on here. Panto in the basement. Live music upstairs. Absolutely delicious food. I would highly recommend a visit here whether you're a tourist or living in Glasgow.

Great historic building. Lovely setting and good service. Wide selection of whiskey

Toilet not within reach, had to use a lift. Disappointed in the meal, no mashed potatoes. Staff were lovely.

Nice place with good staff. They have that sense of urgency you like without being imposing or annoying. The quiet absence of music offers a quiet but pleasant hubbub during the quieter times and at weekends offers the possibility of decent conversation. Since it's so popular but with well mannered patrons the lack of music is never distinctly annoying or awkward.
The only criticism I could offer up is that the bar top is often a little wet and/or sticky, but that's usually the sign of a popular, great pub, so who's complaining?!

Delicious food in a hip location. The atmosphere here was clubby, but not so much that you couldn't enjoy dinner and drinks with friends. My party of four enjoyed our food for the most part. One dining companion had steak pie that was underwhelming and not that hot. Two of us had the haggis burger, which we agreed was delicious, and our fourth had the chicken burger, which he gave rave reviews. We had some drinks and enjoyed our meal and hanging out. Very arty and hip.

Interesting venue. I was there for a gig and we were up in the bell tower room (I think). Really cool architecture being built in an old church.

My wife and friends went to pantomime play pie and a pint had a great time also very nice bar good choice of drinks on offer

Real buzz about the place..good vibe and atmosphere from the customers and staff😊👍🏼🍺🏴 …

A former church that has been converted into a bar (ground floor), nightclub (basement) and music/theatre venue (upper floors). The bar serves a good range of beers and a lot of different whiskies. Decent food menu too.

Panto, Pie and a Pint.... what a brill laugh 😃 …
H. B.
Great gig with really good acoustics, but seats are unreserved so get there early and sit near the front. If you're at the back there's constant noise coming from the bar and the door staff's walkie-talkies.
W. F.
First time I've been to the place .Abso great place to see a band.Defo go back.A+++++

Spacious, well thought out Covid-safe plan. Lovely decor. Friendly staff with a great selection of drinks. (Opted for a local specialty, vodka and Iron Bru 🤣) …

Brilliant venue. An beautiful old church repurposed as an entertainment venue for the 21st century.

The Oran Mor is a great venue for live music in Glasgow and I've had several good feeds here to.
The venue is a great space that undertow right circumstances can feel quite intimate despite its size.
It does let itself down slightly having high bar prices and a very minimal selection of beers in a city with so many great breweries. It is also disappointing to see such a major venue with the ability to wash glasses providing plastic disposable cups especially when only a select few bar staff will willing refill an already used cup to save on waste. There are plenty of options for reusable plastic cups so it's time to move forward.

Fantastic church conversion into a large and atmospheric pub with good food, good beers and good service. Coupled with a great subterranean venue with a decent sized stage, good sound and a decent bar. What's not to like.
J. C.
Waited a while for food and again for coffees. Otherwise, decent evening.
K. V.
Bar is quite expensive and bar staff a bit off hand. If it is a seated function the wooden chairs they use are too small and uncomfortable, and arranged too close together! Folk on the door are always nice.
J. N.
Great gig venue, not cheap for drinks but perfect size for a small gig
M. M.
Was at Oran Mor seeing a play called Oscar, which I can highly recommend, a lunchtime treat as part of their Play, Pie and Pint programme.
W. N.
Just been to the Play, pie and a pint. Brilliant venue and a fine pie! Didn't drink but enjoyed the show very much. Really well done and beautifully acted. What a special place, brilliant.

Great panto in really good surroundings

Open to 2/3 am every night, the customers are mostly friendly as are all off the staff David, kaitlinn, Keiran, josh, John and others who's names I can't remember 👍 …

Beautiful venue, really friendly staff and excellent food! This place is an absolute cracker.

A perfect pub...i was there in 2009 and I still have very profound memories of its envoirent, aesthetics, and above all the people..

Taken here by a friend who lives in Glasgow. The decor is very unique, it's just a great place to be. I had the full Scottish breakfast which was good but could possibly have done with being a touch hotter. All in all though, a good choice if exploring the west end.

Good beer great music

Really nice venue. The entrances aren't all clearly marked, however. There are entrances on two sides, including one which is below street level, down some stairs ("The Venue").
We seen Jason Byrne at "The Venue". The show was great, the staff were friendly and the venue was intimate without being overly cramped. The bar was well stocked.
The decor and architecture were really nice, and the building was large enough to have three events running simultaneously (I believe a wedding or reception, comedy show and third event at another entrance).
I'd enjoy coming back for future events.

Cool pub and restaurant inside an old church. Frequented by locals, especially University students. Also a nice place for private parties. I can't comment on their food but they have a nice variety of offerings on tap and also bottled.
J. E.
Great atmosphere. Been here a few times for pints, ceilidhs, afters, etc. Always love the inside decoration and barstaff are very friendly. Tad on the expensive side but it's expected for such a nice venue
A. R.
Panto pie and pint, very very popular and a great show it is too, why they dont do allocated seating is beyond me, I've been going for years and the layout hasnt changed as far as I can tell. It would save people standing in a queue for an hour worried about getting a seat with their chums, this causes some aggravation for those who choose to wait inside and blend into the crowd and ultimately spoils the atmosphere... overall, good venue, good food and drinks on the more expensive side.
S. C.
Had supper in the Conservatory which was great! Food good and staff fab.Good value. Then we saw Janey Godley in The Venue below..great show...but chairs hard and uncomfortable..and squashed together...no room to move...
S. T.
A great live music venue. The sound is always perfect. You can tell the people running it put an extra effort into production. Bar queues can be long but, on the whole, faster than most other music venues.
M. W.
Good place for a gig (The Venue). Can get a bit hot when busy though and the bar at the back can be a right pain, the staff don't take account of quiet passages during the gig, and people going back and forward for drinks is annoying.
L. C.
Lovely iconic venue in the West end of Glasgow. Went with a group of family and friends for drinks after work. Originally went for an online advertised pub quiz but they don't run it any more. Huge choice of drinks in the whisky bar where we sat, good vibe and there was a guy singing and playing guitar towards the end of our visit.
J. B.
Classy looking bar service very good quick and efficient, had a few drinks staff were attentive menu looked although we didn't eat
S. M.
Great bar in a great setting in Glasgow, excellent staff and the food is great.
M. M.
Food lovely, staff very helpful and friendly ,. Lovely atmosphere , beautiful surroundings .

It's these sort of places that restore your faith in pubs. An amazing building full of beers, whisky and plays. there is a limited menu and the one reason I've not given it 5 stars is there was nothing vegan on the food menu
O. W.
Great venue to see live music. Saw Josh Ritter and greatly enjoyed. A commendation to the very friendly and helpful bouncers who showed us where to go.
If you are looking for a friendly and welcoming venue for great music/drinks look no further!

Deacon Blues and Simple Minded. Great night, venue reminded me of a mini barrowland where I saw simple minds many years ago. Loved the fact that the group played lots of the early songs of simple minds, and also great singing of deacon blue also, the female, sorry can't remember her name has a fantastic voice also and all of our party said they enjoyed the sets. Only grumble was lack of seats, would have been nice to sit for a little bit of the time, as I have bad knees, however, we will just get there quicker next time. Ps. Food upstairs was delicious and tasty, served by friendly staff.

Had a company ball here. The planners were professional and the night itself we had was amazing- a unique setting fantastic entertainment and a sumptuous 3 course meal. I'd definitely recommend this for anyone planning a party!

Great spot for drinks and drams.
Can be super busy late in the evening but out of those hours is well worth a visit.
Decent selection of whiksy. Lacks variation on the gantry for decen gins and rums.
Never eat here but bar staff are super helpful.

The concert I attended was excellent, however, people were allowed to enter who clearly had far too much to drink and were continued to be served more alcohol. They became abusive and rowdy and then started to fight amongst themselves. We left before end of encore as I felt unsafe. We advised security who where attending the door. We were told we should have complained earlier. I advised it was not my job and it would have been sensible to have security in the hall which led me to be sworn at. It would put me off attending the venue again, as I do nit feel safe.

Excellent venue and staff.
Spoiled by West end trendies, who would much rather hear their own loud obnoxious voices than listen to bands we have all paid to see. 80% of the crowd are always interested in and respectful of the bands, but it's that 20% who are convinced that whatever they say is much more important than anything else that's going on that spoils it for others. Why don't they stay at home and shout at each other, rather than do it at a music venue that they have obviously paid for and are only interested in saying they've been to a gig, but have no interest in music.
D. M.
One of the very best bar restaurants in Glasgow. It's as simple as that! The design and decor is a must to see, the range of drinks is very impressive and the staff are excellent. Prices are average for Glasgows West End. WELL worth a visit!

Three Very talented Singers doing Songs from the Musicals a very enjoyable early Evening Show
M. M.
Very cool pub church with a great selection of whiskies. However the beer selection is way to international and not much available as bottled beer. That could be improved as there are many good small breweries.
A. C.
Lovely wedding here a year ago (couldn't fault) but went in two nights ago and very slow service. Food was tasty but arrived without much garnish/sides and burgers even needed chips ordered separately.
J. C.
Oran mor is a beautiful building full of history. We sat at the table in the stained glass window and surrounded by history.. We went for breakfast. The waitress was lovely and so helpful and told us stories of the history which we wanted to hear
The food however is mediocre. The coffees were not heated enough but tasted okay.the breakfast was not great. The omelette did not contain all the fillings requested and the full Scottish was almost like a reheat. The bacon was dried out and the tattie scone was hard and dry not freshly cooked. I would probably go back for a drink and live music but not sure I would eat there again.

Lovely outdoor seated garden and very spacious inside

Stunning church conversion in Glasgow's West End. Pub/bar on ground floor. Brasserie (which we thought we'd booked for) is closed on Sunday evenings.
Photos of famous visitors ( inc Kate Moss) on the walls. Great lighting especially in the spire.
Food service was slow tho they apologised with free drink. Food was good but main courses a bit dry by the time they arrived.

Friendly staff good service a bit quiet

Enjoyable place, not much daylight. Has a burger with haggis in, which was a good taste experience but not a good eating experience - it got extremely messy quickly. Prices are good and drink selection is too.
D. C.
Great atmosphere! Attended a whisky tasting in Oran Mor and loved it! Generous measures, interesting whisky and very knowledgeable people running the Oran Mor Whisky Club. Stuck around afterwards to try some of the whisky they had at the bar and was impressed by the selection and the music that was on that night. Would definitely go again.

Good pub with lots of atmosphere and with a small theatre downstairs, featuring the play, pie and a pint. A great way to spend a couple of hours during the afternoon. There is also a good restaurant in the building.
J. G.
What an amazing experience! I organised a visit for 7 of my work colleagues. We saw Spuds and laughed so heartily. I had high expectations but the performance was even better! Booked again to go in April with my husband and am organising another visit for May
S. C.
Mixed thoughts about this as a gig venue - the main church bit is good in that it looks lovely, but some views are obscured by pillars etc. The downstairs basement bit is rather small with not enough seats for all leading to some standing. Bar prices on the highish side (eg nearly £6 for large glass of wine). Really handy for other pubs/restaurants in the Byrnes Road/Ashton Lane area.
J. R.
Unbelievably quiet today, but very well managed for Covid-19 arrangements. The Cullen Skink remains one of the best I've had, and there is nice lunch sized portion of haggis, neeps and tatties with a mustard sauce that's great value.
G. F.
Food was tasty, service was amazing, had a great time all and all thanks to my lovely company and the amazing service of Phoebe (and the occasional waiting/bar staff clearing the table) ^^
W. S.
The home of a play, a pie and a pint. An excellent venue where you will mix with locals as well as actors, authors, directors etc. Don't be surprised to be sitting beside someone you are sure you have seen somewhere before - then realise they are a well known TV presenter.
Great décor, helpful staff, good wine and beer. What else could you want from a pub?
My only complain was a bit too cramped at a first class play so get along early to get a good spot.
