Reviews of Rock Glasgow
S. S.
Cheap but not cheerful is the best way to describe the rock. What once was a clearly a vibrant spot in Hyndland has now become a rather dark (and definitely dark) outdated locals pub with the odd dusting of students who are there to watch football or get cheap pints. Drink selection is decent, service is ok apart from the weird rules around which football matches can be shown on which TV.
P. H.
Where to start with this place? Been drinking here since as long as I can remember. The staff and punters come and go but the old place stays the same. Could do with a wee bit of TLC but it'll always be the heart and soul of the area for me!
T. C.
Cracking pub. Atmosphere was fantastic. Will be back for sure. Staff were superb also. No complaints here.
H. M.
Went for the y2k event and was so much fun!! Please do more themed nights like this, Michelle makes the best cocktails xxxx
B. B.
This bar is a gem in the west end of Glasgow. Run by brilliant staff, great friendly atmosphere. Would recommend 100%
H. C.
Wonderful little bar in the heart of the west end of Glasgow. this hidden gem has pool tables, a dart board, juke box and loads of TV's. The staff are always lovely whenever we visit - although we do get jealous that the dog gets more attention than we do :)
A. R.
Clean nice surroundings bar staff very helpful..met the missus there 40 yrs ago not really changed..will be back.cheers
J. B.
Drink in here every day. Great pub with good staff and a brilliant bunch of regulars. Can't wait top be done with covid and be back at the bar where we belong!
S. D.
Visited here on Friday with my wife for the tarot reading and had a fantastic night. The staff were great and there was a real buzz about the place. Shame we didn't come on the nights with the cheap drinks but we'll defo be back!
B. M.
Very clean friendly service good price 👍 for drink we would go back
Look like a good sports bar
J. B.
Great pub, with great Guinness and plenty of tv’s for the football…Loved it..
S. P.
This place is awesome. Cheap pints through the week, pool table, all the football on massive TV's and the staff have decent banter too. Just moved in nearby and I've found my new local!
B. B.
Good pub but a bit limited on the beer front. John Smith's. Good price for Glasgow.
S. B.
Good food with decent portion sizes. The tables are separate to the pool table & slot machine area which is nice. They play the footie. Decor is a bit bland but staff are very friendly and helpful. They don't offer the steak & ale pie from the menu anymore.
Would go back for the food.
M. B.
Brilliant boozer. Come in here with my pals sometimes and even with the missus from time to time. Good for the football and the quiz.
P. K.
Visited to meet mate n watch Scotland game. Wasn't too busy, got seats to watch game. Staff on ball serving at bar, clearing tables & being on the ball. As normal as a bar visit u can have these days.
A. M.
Just left here the 2 male bar staff was really friendly and helped with the parking. Hopefully the kitchen opens again soon used to enjoy coming here for food.

Love this pub, Great atmosphere and really friendly bar staff. The beer garden is a total sun trap great for this weather, Would highly recommend
T. C.
Nice local pub, cheap prices
A. D.
Nice bar that serves tasty pub grub. Did have to choose second options as they ran out of most of our first choices. But the manager was nice enough to give us something to make up for it. Played a couple games of pool and watched the football and rugby on the multiple screens they had.
D. S.
It's a fine generic pub that shows sports especially football and rugby with good floor space. Has quite a standard selection of drinks with some guest beers and some whisky as well. Last time we went they had an issue with card payments time before that had issue in the kitchen. Can be busy at times but often not packed. Good place to go in a group or to watch 6 nations
G. R.
Best pub in Hyndland! Staff are fantastic always on form with banter and pints are poured before you even get to the bar!
I was in last month and ordered food. The chips were extremely salty and there was ingredients on my food that weren’t advertised on the menu which spoiled my meal for me.
I came in again a few days ago for some food and there has been a vast improvement in the food. I don’t know if maybe there is a new chef but it was fantastic!
L. W.
Great pub showing various sports games. Has a local pub vibe for any age.
A. W.
Sadly to say love the rock . Covid has desolated pubs .
No atmosphere. No chatting .no banter . Sadly I.would prefer to stay at home . Staff lovely .covid conscious. My view better at home with music food and drinks
B. K.
Great pub especially for the sport. Two big TVs to enjoy everything on. The food is also really good pub grub and everything at a decent price. Happy to hear they'll be bringing in an open mic night soon!
D. M.
Cracking place. Great staff, drinks and food. All the staff are helpful and friendly. I was it for the quiz last Thursday and it was brilliant. There is big TV screens for the football aswell. Overall a brilliant experience.

We visited this excellent local bar a couple of weeks ago as a small group of guys.
We hadn’t booked but the friendly Irish manager found us 2 tables near the well kept fire that provided a lovely focal point, surrounded by TV’s and a big screen showing sport.
There was a well stocked bar, great range of beers, with excellent IPA’s and all much cheaper than what was on offer down on Byres Road.
Staff were knowledgeable, remembered our order pretty much each time and offered table service too.
There is darts and pool tables which were in use all night and we were told about forthcoming live music.
All in The Rock was a brilliant find, we stayed till closing time in this great local gem!
We’ll definitely be back.
R. S.
You dont really need a review for The Rock. Its been a top drawer pub for decades. We popped in for dinner and had burgers and they were top drawer too! The girl who served me was extremely polite and helpful. For this reason this cynical old guy wondered if she was a new start :)
P. H.
From Formula 1 to Celtic...it's got it all
C. P.
Does what is says on the tin! Good beer options, food is decent for the price, and plays the usual sports matches. A nice space outside for those rare sunny days, but you have to get in quick as they fill up fast!
S. G.
Situated on the cusp of Glasgow's west end between Hyndland and Partick this is a mix of student and locals. Good bar food served and a good mixture of tap beers and lagers. The only down side is the incredibly loud music which seems to be provided for the pool table enthusiasts and can make conversation challenging!
G. R.
Mainly it’s a place for regular locals (much more so than the bars of nearby Byres Rd. Well maintained Satellite TV and all the sports channels available on 4 TVs/big screens. Drinks and Good food at reasonable prices. The Rock ticks all the boxes and is a good 'local'
I. C.
Good friendly pub. Watching PRO14 rugby there. Reasonably priced beer, a pub for all ages & families. Been visiting since the late 1960's.
A. A.
Bit rough round the edges in terms of decor and the gents but a big place with a great range of drinks on offer and very patient helpful staff. A great sports bar.
M. z. C.
Love this place. Great for watching sport
j. t.
I went with friends who live nearby for a game of pool and a pint, the place has a good selection of reasonably priced drinks 🍻, good service, friendly staff and customers and 2 pool tables, has a quiz night on Thursday's, i liked Paddy's advice for students to buy drinks in rounds, I would recommend it 👍
E. M.
Been going to this pub for years and never let's me down. Staff friendly and wonderful, the beer garage area is perfect if you like to people watch and have a nice drink.
A. W.
The haddock & chips is fantastic still. But I am disappointed you cannot purchase Carlsberg any longer. My favourite lager, and the Rock was one of the few places in the city it was available.
C. P.
Excellent service and friendly atmosphere. Nice pints would go back.
A.
gorgeous indoor and outdoor pub experience with superb atmosphere. Cant recommend it enough
J. M.
Been in the bar a good few times but I must say I don't think I have been in a pub so cold, last week it was that cold we ended up going to Tennants bar, please get heating sorted as we do like the pub.
G. G.
Popped in with our pooch whilst out for a walk in the West End. Coffee was good. Staff all very friendly and made a fuss of my dog by offering her biscuits, water and cuddles!
A. V.
Went here with mate and my niece because she was underage to have a meal. Other pubs around don't accommodate 16 year olds food was really good and we had a few beers while the waen had cokes
J. R.
Undervalued, hidden gem. Juke box, pool tables and reasonably priced booze
A. “. M.

S. L.
Great pub very good prices for the area and pet friendly
D. A.
Okay for sport but tv's are clearly ageing and the projector is barely visible.
Men's toilets are horrible and food is cheap and cheerful.
In need of a complete renovation.
L. M.
Fab bar with a cosy fire perfect for Winter nights. Great selection of drinks available and really lovely and attentive staff. Worth a visit.

A. J. U.
It's a nice local pub. Quiz night it's a bit messy, and mainly focused on people born in the 60s or before, but fun non the less!
G. S.

R. Y.

This is a wonderful pub just a 2 minute walk from my flat. Take the dog in most days as he loves to lie at the fire and get spoiled rotten by the staff. Great bunch of people who work here too - would definitely recommend a visit, especially if you have a dog! Was also in for the boxing recently and it had a really good atmosphere. Felt safe which isn't always the case when there's fighting on the TV!
Back again - finally visited for the quiz. We had an epic night and convinced our friends to become regulars too :)
