Reviews of Ship Inn
R. A. D.
Just about managed to get squeezed in - our fault for not booking! They guaranteed that if we could eat within an hour, they would ensure that they would feed us fast enough and they did! It took a little of the relaxed enjoyment out of it but it was our choice to do that. Food was simple but well done and tasty. Service, considering they were under pressure, was very pleasant. I felt starters were slightly overpriced but mains were suitably priced for what you got.

Went to this awesome place accidentally as we had no booking at the *boathouse* and *tavern* was much ahead.
But this place turned out to be so much better than what I expected!! A warm welcome at the bar and we were seated soon. Orders were taken fast by the staff and service was prompt. We ordered Bloody Mary, Prawn veg curry with rice and Dragon Pie along with sweet potato fries
All our food was freshly cooked, awesome tasty Praises for the braised and sgredded lamb cooked well, served with the smooth curry sauce and potato mash with blanched carrots beans and florets on the side
Good food 😍

We were stopping at a nearby caravan site. We called in several times for drinks and food. The first meal we had wasn't great but the second was so I think alot depends on what you order! Dog friendly inside and out which was appreciated. Lovely outside area with heaters and huts. Perfect location, right on the bay. Very picturesque especially at low tide. Reasonably priced. Recommended *****

Lovely village Inn next to Red Wharf Bay where you can sit outside on picnic tables and watch the tide come in then completely drain the bay leaving the boats stranded. Also plenty of room and tables in cosy inside rooms. Clean loos upstairs with a function room. Good menu including gluten free options, nice rance of local beers, with friendly staff. A bit expensive but worth it for the views on a nice day. Small car park and can get very busy during the holidays and at weekends so we went mid week and weren't dissapointed. Also right on the coastal path so you can discover more views and work up an appetite. If you are sitting outside and eating, make sure you sit at a table with a number on. If you are just drinking you can sit anywhere. They also have little huts and sheltered areas under large umbrellas.

Lovely Pub with great food which you don't have to wait a lifetime for 😉 to top it all off its in beautiful surroundings.
Worth a visit for sure!

Was a nice place and is great that you can take dogs but to be honest, the food was lacking and took us 30 minutes before anyone even asked if we wanted a drink. Was £155 for 4 meals, 1 starter (BTW the chicken wings are NOT worth it) and 3 desserts (which were the best part of the meal). Birds were an issue diving for our neighbours food. Overall, the view was nice but we wouldn't go back, we preferred the fish and chips from a local shop.
C. L.
We’ve eaten here a few times over the last couple of months. The food is consistently good, really simple menu, but what they do is great. I’d recommend the chowder and dragon pie as my favourites, but the fish & chips and burgers are great too. The staff are always really helpful, friendly and cheerful.

We visited the Ship Inn for dinner on a rainy December evening without a reservation.
The staff were really welcoming & professional & found us a table whilst advising what time it was booked from.
It was great to see a couple of fab looking veggie & vegan dishes on the menu.
Everyone in our party loved the food & the excellent service.
Will definitely be back the next time I'm staying nearby.
I. B.
Great pub offering excellent food and ales. Dogs welcome in there own snug.
C. B.
Great food and friendly staff. Food was served very quickly and can't fault it.
S. H.
Great location. Parking can be a bit of a challenge, but the food is well worth waiting for a parking spot. The Dragon pie is 5 star! Enjoy!!
T. L.
Never the cheapest but lovely food, excellent cask ales, friendly staff and however busy it gets you never have to wait long. Ideal location and dog friendly. Couldn't wish for much more. Well worth a visit. An extensive menu as well with some interesting specials.
J. M.
Unbelievably fast service to get some of the best food we've had this holiday! Every meal was cooked to perfection with a perfect balance, and most of it was cheaper than anywhere else we've been. The chef's own deserts especially, absolutely amazing!
The staff were also really helpful and friendly. They knew exactly what was on the menu and even helped us to alter a meal for the picky eater in the family. They even had a laugh with us when we spilled a glass of water (still sorry about that) which was a relief.
It's also located right on the beach front which is great for the views and coming straight from the beach for a meal. Dog friendly too. Definitely one of my top recommendations on Anglesey!

Let's start by saying the Ship is a great pub in a superb location. Having previously lived Llandudno before my career moved me it was good to be back. So why 3 stars...well when I visited the pub is so busy and popular, I felt its character changing. Perhaps a visit on a cold January day when all the outdoor paraphernalia has been removed and log fires are lit, I may feel differently. Good beer though and the people next to us enjoyed their food.
R. B.
Turned up on spec and was offered a choice of tables all sheltered though the weather was lovely if rather cool. Can really recommend the seafood chowder and the dragon pie was an absolute treat. Wasn't familiar with any if the beers on offer but the Buckley bitter was excellent. The staff here were lovely, friendly and with prompt service to match. Didn't see the inside because of restrictions currently in place; this was our first visit here, hopefully with many more to follow.
C. C.
Great service, beautiful view and good food! Really enjoyed our visit here and were made to feel very welcome.
•. N. •.
Lovely food and drink. Free customer parking. Good menu choice...good friendly service outside and inside and food arrived quickly 👍 Good views. Very dog friendly inside and outside with water bowles and dog treats for sale.
M. A.
Food was lovely. Good service. We went on a busy Sunday lunchtime. Brilliant location. The drinks were a bit expensive but overall a really good time out.
N. M.
Great location, but limited menu, no steaks, gammon, pizza or even Scampi. Quite pricey, fish was nice, but chips were hard and mostly crunchy bits. A bit disappointing after reading the reviews. Wish we had gone next door to the Boathouse.
D.
We walked here from Benllech, really old pub but very nice and friendly place, lots of seating outside, dog friendly inside to the left and outside of course.
We didn't eat there but the menu looked good and smelt lovely. If your in the area call in.
A. W.
Just had the last evening meal of our holiday and went to the Ship Inn at Red Wharf Bay.
Service was outstanding, and the food was amazing. Some of the nicest seafood chowder I've ever had.
Will definitely be going back on our next visit to Angelsey, loved it.
E. D.
Lovely little spot right by the sea. Dog friendly and amazing service. We had lunch which was a little expensive, but the food was really nice. Would definitely visit again.
k. G.
Great atmosphere, will go every time we go to Llandudno. Best pub we found , great outside and Inn , though didn't have any food , the food we saw looked good. Could do with staying open later than 10pm.
P. G.
Great food, dog friendly, friendly staff beautiful location
M. C.
Visited twice while on holiday, highly recommend staff very welcoming, the staff accommodated for 7 of us straight away without booking with no hesitation on are first visit.
The food was lovely, good quality home made, would recommend the dragon pie.
P. D.
Can't fault the friendly and helpful staff, also a good pint. Only downside is the dog friendly part of the pub is quite a small room, have to say I thought it was dog friendly pub not just a room atthe back.
N. C.
This place has seen better days. Its clean and tidy and the menu is varied enough with some modern additions but the food is, well, ordinary. It needs love.
The burger I had was cooked well, but tasteless. The bun was tasteless too and the salad limp, as though it had been taken straight out of a packet and plonked on the plate. And Don't get me started on the chips...
The Halloumi wrap was the same. A limp wrap straight out of the packet with tasteless sweet potato fries.
Drinks are the same, perfectly perfunctory, but need love. No bottled soft drinks, only one option offered of tonic for a Gin and the dreaded Pepsi on postmix, not bottled.
Maybe it's the cost of living crisis which is forcing the owners to use cheaper ingredients but overall it was an underwhelming visit, the atmosphere was muted.
Having been to this place several times over the years I expected more and it was worrying to see it half empty, but maybe it is me being uber critical. I just don't get why people rave about this place.
L.
Beautiful pub. So kind and friendly. Can't comment on the food as we just stopped for a drink. Staff go above and beyond though
G. P.
Just had a drink but served quickly and pleasantly. Good supply of trays to carry drinks outside which you don't often see. Prices not OTT given location.
C. C.
Lovely pub in a glorious setting, overlooking Red Wharf Bay. We just visited for a drink but ended up having lunch. The menu had a lot of fish dishes as well as your usual pub meals and they had an extensive specials board. We sat and ate outside as it was a warm sunny day and enjoyed the views of the bay. It was a bit pricey but the the food was good. Maybe more for a special treat than dropping in somewhere for lunch but that's probably me being tight.🤣
A. H.
Rarely do I think a venue deserves 5☆ plus.Ok-location 2nd to none ,front of house and bar staff ~ professional, smart, pleasant, helpful ~ get the gist ? food ~ not just good pub food way above and excellent.Service - 1st class,Plus a separate 'dog' room for wet 4 legged furry things, and a children's room for wet 2 legged smelly and noisy things!

P. S.
Best fish and chips I've had for ages, maybe since the last time at the Ship Inn.
What a great setting to have a meal in. Friendly helpful staff. We will dine here again next time we visit Wales.
4. S.
The Sunday dinner was very good!Staff very friendly!
The pub has a lot of character, great atmosphere and stunning views!!
A. M.
Fabulous. Selection of local as well as international beers on tap. Beautiful location and lovely decoration. Dog and family friendly. Plenty of staff who were courteous and helpful. We only had a couple of drinks after walking around the bay, but the menu looked interesting and varied. We visited in autumn and the bars firs were lit giving a great cozy atmosphere on a chilly autumn day.
L. B.
Great pub.. great location.. Friendly staff.. Food really nice.... Plenty of parking spaces Perfect place to visit
B. F.
We ate our lunch in Hut 1 with fabulous sea views. We really enjoyed our main courses: three of us had Welsh Dragon pie and one had battered haddock. Served with a smile. Even on a blustery day eating outside in one of the beach huts was fine.
J. M.
Currently all seating is outside and they Re serving via a window. They really are making the best of it and food and drinks are still just as good. It’s obviously only ok if the weather is good, which it was for us last week, but be warned it can get quite breezy. It’s almost nearly wasp season and they could do with a few wasp catches up as we were plagued while having a drink. Great pub with free parking and amazing beach walks so worth a visit if your heading down to the bay. The staff are also paying attention to the social distancing regulations.
E. B.
How you would imagine a quintessential pub to be. Very good service but the food really was very good. Muscles were plentiful and I could not refommend enough. The location is another reason to visit- even on a cloudy day the views were stunning. We will definitely going back.
S. H.
Dog friendly pub, great food, lovely people, good drinks and good facilities, including ground floor disabled access toilet, though because it is such an old building, there are some steps that may need to be used to get about. Lots of old photos and interesting items of decor throughout.
I definitely recommend the Dragon's Pie!
D. B.
We read reviews this morning before coming to Anglesey and decided to come to the Ship inn.
So glad we did the fish chowder was stunning and the bread serves was so soft with a lovely flavour. I would definitely recommend this place for good home cooked food. Should have stopped eating 2/3 way through my meal but it was so good I couldn’t stop .
We’ll done to the chef
Ps staff were very friendly and welcoming
d.
What a great place. Staff were friendly, great company. Felt like I was home from home. Couldn't fault the food. Had the Chilli and Salt Crusted Chicken Schnitzel with house coleslaw and honey roasted sweet potato chips followed by the Sticky Toffee Pudding. Comes highly recommended.
D. S.
A cracking spot for some quality pub grub. The view across the bay is lovely. We sat outside as we had the dogs. There are outdoor heaters and it's all very reasonably priced. Can't recommend the seafood chowder highly enough.
M. S.
Lovely spot for a pub lunch by the sea!! Nice beers, good food and a beaut view. Gets super busy in the evenings and you can't book at the moment so might have to queue a bit but its worth it!
P. H.
Sun shining, but blowing a gale. Sat outside with the dog. Ordered fish and chips and burger. Both were really nice. Local beer was great too. As so windy we were hoping to sit undered covered area to left of pub but this wasn't the food area which we felt was a shame, however could understand that staff would have had further to walk. They were very efficient though and had difficult enough time with the strong winds.
V. D.
Ship Inn in prime spot looking over the sea... perfect setting guarantee! You need some luck to park up due to limited spaces. Foods & drinks to cater for everyone. Not to be miss if you're in the vicinity.
R. I.
Fabulous food, excellent service, warm hospitable and comfortable surroundings and the Welsh Dragon Pie is superb. Its been a long time since I have enjoyed lunch this much! And very reasonably priced with service at your discretion. What a delightful and refreshing change. If you haven't been you must go!!
G. M.
Went there for the first time today with my sister and brother in law and it was amazing, absolutely perfect location beautifully set in my opinion couldn't ask for much more (except for the tide to have been right in at the time but that can't be helped) really nice and friendly staff and what I believe we're the owners, amazing service, would definitely come back here again as the food I ordered was well just short of absolutely amazing if you actually understand food the flavours in the dish I ordered Was almost if not the up there with the best I've had and that was just within the "let's say gravy "on the braised steak dish I had couldn't praise it more, keep up the great work guys and gals your true people to this trade.
J. L.
Fabulous lunch at the ship inn, chilli prawn starter excellent, so tasty. Braised beef and chicken fillet burger for mains, also excellent. Quick service, very pleasant staff. Large outside eating area, part under cover if required, with great views.
G. G.
Great place to eat. Food was lovely and prices for drinks were reasonable- not like some places where drink prices are extortionate when having a meal. Staff were very friendly and welcoming and there is a dog friendly dining area too. Highly recommended if you are visiting Anglesey.
P. D.
What more can i say about this place that hasn't already been said, stunning views on one of the best islands in the world, good beers excellent food, lovely walks along the beach when the tide is out, parking can be a bit of an issue peak season and bank holidays but well worth the waiting for a space :)
J. S.
Was recommended here by a staff member at the hotel where I’m staying ,,,
Finally found it after two evenings ,,
Well worth the visit , gentleman who led us to the table was very pleasant and polite ,
The pub is an old Worldy style IMO which I love , all staff are very pleasant and friendly ,
Food is top class , I had the dragon pie , very filling , mom had fish and chips , which she couldn’t finish ,
Over all a great evening had 👍🏻👍🏻
A. H.
What a beautiful spot!
Worth bearing in mind that the car park IS NOT camper van friendly and has a sign saying as such just about managed to turn my LWB van around in the space that is marked out as the car park. The good news is that there is some other parking before you reach the pub that you can squeeze a van in to.
VEGAN OPTIONS!!!! So happy to see the specials board with vegan meals on. We shared a portion of tempura cauliflower and portion of chips and it was delicious and totally unexpected.
All of this is before we get to the view, the bay with the tide out is beautiful and being able to sit outside and take it all in was amazing. Such a great pub
K. B.
Had the slow cooked braising steak, was lovely. Staff very friendly and helpful. Dog friendly too. Nice views of the bay sitting g outside.
r. b.
Great pub with window onto outside so can buy drink or food without the need to go in. "Ship Inn" pint very good. Menu looked good but only had beer. Parking in late June tight so suspect more difficult in school hols.
L. R.
Beautiful location overlooking Red Wharf bay.
Food was amazing.
Best Seafood chowder I ve tasted.Crammed with fresh seafood, more like a stew served with very large portions of freshly baked bloomer bread.
The menu is very varied and all fresh ,local.produce
It was difficult to decide what we wanted to order as everything coming from the kitchen looked wonderful
Those great home cooked smells too.
Inside its very clean very oldy world and authentic pub
Staff were lovely and friendly, very good service.
Thoroughly recommend.
D. W.
If you fancy somewhere with good honest pub food and a great view, topped off with quality service, then this is the place for you! I cannot fault anything from my experiences at the Ship Inn tonight. Well worth a visit.
J. M.
Perfect location, the food was delicious and seem local. A lot of tables outside. Quick
C. F.
From what we saw of the pub it was very nice but as we walked in to order some drinks we were quite abruptly ushered out and told order our drinks at the window which made us feel quite awkward. We have been there before and had a pleasant experience but this was not so pleasant and will have second thoughts about returning.
D. B.
Great pub, beautiful location. Staff are so friendly and excellent service even when busy. Food delicious, eaten there a few times and never dissapointed.
S. H.
This pub is in a fantastic location, right next to the sea. The food is superb, and the menu is very extensive. Great beers on tap, and attractive, nautical decor throughout. With friendly staff, too, this is a must visit place to enjoy a seaside drink and a delicious meal. Highly recommended.
C.
Lovely location and staff where fantastic...came recommended and we weren't disappointed...we had the haddock and chips and it was lovely ..great views and good food and drink...
D. A.
Very nice beer garden
F. M.
Very good beer large outdoor seating area also outside ordering / bar area
N. W.
Great old traditional pub with lovely food and a good beer selection. Nice views of the bay as well . Will visit again next time I am in Anglesey.
G. B.
Good he vooked pub food with vegan and veggie options. Nice staff and nice place. I liked the outside seating. Service was very good.
P. H.
Lovely food, nice traditional interior, friendly staff and a great view. Parking will be a bit difficult as they don't have much space but other than that highly recommended.
R. G.
Nice pub in a fantastic location, family of 4 seated swiftly and served with decent food (Dragon pie is great) and a good pint.
G. B.
Lovely food! They were very organised, taking orders at a table outside. The food arrived promptly and was very good
S. R.
Fabulous setting. Gorgeous and delicious chowder and extensive menu to suit all tastes. Staff polite, helpful and efficient. Parking is premium at busy times though and because we had a campervan were not allowed to park in their carpark as indicated on their parking notice sign and a man who monitors the gate. Managed to get parked in the public car park which is free (very unusual these days).Highly recommend though despite this issue.
g. b.
The food was fantastic. Would recommend the dragon pie and the Sunday beef roast. Worth booking a table in advance.
G. C. C.
we wasn’t allowed to park at the ship in because they don’t allow for large wheel chair accessible vehicles to park on their car park and had to park on double yellow lines. Very disappointed as it was our first visit to red warf bay nice place but not very accommodating for the disabled.
T. O.
Great location, desert was fabulous but we didn't enjoy our main courses as much.
Wonderful friendly service & lovely outdoor seating area.
J. P.
Very good selection of food on the specials board!
m. t.
Fantastic hosts, really welcoming atmosphere, food was delicious and reasonably priced. Would definitely go back if I were I. The area
M. M.
Great food, amazing views of the bay and the sea. Its always a treat to visit. It never disappoints.
L. R.
Nice pub with gorgeous views across the bay. Food was good and can recommend the sticky toffee pudding.
M. A.
Great food and atmosphere. Took a long time to get a table but that's to be expected over the holiday weekends
C. C.
Excellent food, friendly folks. Bonus points for managing to cater for a large group at short notice.
M. N.
Nice food, nice drink, awesome view. You can sit outside overlooking Red Wharf Bay. Kids can play on the beach right in front of the pub.
C. L.
had a drink outside. a fantastic view and a beautiful beach. friendly staff. you could sit there all day. will come back for sure.
N. G.
Lovely pub near the bay, with great views. Very friendly staff and fab service. I'll definitely visit again!
M. T.
Lovely old pub overlooking the bay, dog friendly, good food. Nice to sit out in the summer
K. B.
Nice little pub with excellent local ales and beers.
Great walk around the bay to get to this gem which was finally rewarded with nice and friendly staff, good drinks, and view that is just simply one amazing.
b. h.
Such a lovely pub looking out across the sea.
Friendly staff and great food.
Redwarf Bay is just picturesque.
M. R.
Second visit this year, and still can't find fault. Lovely old building, set in a lovely scenic area of Anglesey, although you will be hard pressed to find any part of Anglesey that doesn't come with outstanding views!
Hygiene comes with four stars, not sure if that's because there's outside seating, but to be honest, this place is spotless!
There are two rooms at the front of the building, one of which leads to another around the back, plus more upstairs.
Disabled toilets are on the ground floor, for the rest of us, they're upstairs, and again, spotless.
The menu is a good size, and right proper tasty. Today, my wife had the roast lamb rump, which was apparently, lush! Personally, I had the Dragon lamb pie. Just a hint of chilli there then.
Found the owner, and his staff to be very polite and friendly.
In the summer, this place would be rammed, inside and out, and from past experience, it is. Bring your dogs people, they're welcome.
Not first visit, nor will it be my last.
S. S.
Over £9 for a toasty is a bit much. Nothing out of the ordinary but didn't want a big meal so went for this.
D. H.
Been here a couple of times. Food is always amazing, good quality dishes. Staff are all very professional and attentive. Well worth a visit
m.
Nothing to fault with this pub. Very friendly, helpful staff, tasty filling food, great drinks and fantastic views.
C.
I suppose that if you get loads of kids, plus outdoor drinking / eating, then the glasses must be returned to the bar in all sorts of condition, but nonetheless, every pub should have a good modern dishwasher to deal with whatever comes its way. Well, by the looks of it, the Ship needs to change its machine, because every pint I drank over several visits recently was served to me in a filthy glass.
It's not rocket science - bubbles cling to dirt, so if dirt is left on the inside of a glass, you will see it as a smear of bubbles. Such a shame, because the beer is good, the pub's location is brilliant and the staff are great - they just need to get the glasses clean!
J. E.
Lovely setting, nice food served quickly, friendly professional staff. Very interesting decor I pinched some ideas.
I. D.
A real proper pub with a warm welcome, roaring log fires and delicious home cooked food! Couldn't ask for more.
R. S.
They let us stay overnight in our motor home . Good beer and food. Lovely location by the canal.
N. B.
Great place great food beautiful setting.. Definitely worth a visit 👍will be returning
A. J.
Fabulous Sunday lunch. We had the nut roast and the pork - both were absolutely delicious. Came with a generous portion of veg, perfectly cooked, gorgeous roasties, Yorkshire pud and gravy. Sat outside and enjoyed the sea view - lovely.
N. W.
Sat outside on tables in the car park. My crab sandwich was OK. There was plenty of crab filling but it wasn't particularly tasty. The same goes for the sweet potato fries that came with my sister's meal. Plenty of them, but no flavour. The ordinary chips that cans with my mum's meal were delicious.
Quite nice looking out to sea but the car park setting was lacking something. Maybe some flower pots?
J. R.
Excellent Pub, fantastic food the best Fish chowder and a cracking pint
A.
Great traditional pub right on the shore front. Wide selection of real ale and beers. I thought the food menu suited the pub perfectly I.e traditional Welsh pub, not trying to be something else. Food was very good, especially the fresh seafood chowder and lamb dragon pie, a must! Would return again
D. J.
Great food and beer in a fantastic location. Excellent value. Traditional surroundings in a cosy setting. Can get very busy, booking advised
K. M.
Very friendly and efficient service. Great extensive menu and nothing a problem for them. Wish I lived closer and would very a regular. Dogs seemed welcome at the outside tables.
L. H.
Love pub, food really yummy and the staff are fantastic. We had Sunday lunch which I could not fault. Service was quick, food arrived piping hot and the sticky toffee pudding was to die for. Big shout out to Gareth our waiter, very pleasant and nothing was too much trouble.
F. J.
Oh wowzer wowzer not been here for a few years had 1 of most amazing Sunday lunch and sticky toffee pudding, can't wait to go again only live 6 miles away.
S. E.
Staff were lovely and food was great. Had a lovely stop and lunch while on the coastal walk from Benllech
G. C.
Friendly staff beautiful old pub and the food was excellent
S. S.
Go on a sunny day and sit outside to enjoy the views of the bay. The food is good, honest pub food, not only the usual fare (e.g. seafood chowder), not too pricey. Service was very welcoming. It’s accessed via a busy public car park but they have their own roped off area for patrons parking - go early to make sure there’s space though
T. G.
Lovely surroundings with excellent food and good service. Had both lunch and evening meal on different occasions and both very good.
S. H.
Good food, good service, dog friendly and a lovely seaside setting 😀

Rainy day warm welcome going back for chippy day
T. U.
Nice place with stunning views. Food was really nice.
M. T.
It's always a great experience when you accidently find a great place for food. When it is a dog friendly establishment, its an almost unbelievable find !!
A visit to Red Wharf Bay, meant that we stumbled across this gem of a place while walking our Lab.
We ordered for all 3 of our party and the food was great. In particular, can I recommend the Dragon Pie 🥧 I can honestly say, having eaten at a well know establishment in Rhosnegir last weekend that the Ships version of a Shepherds pie was much better.
Thoroughly recommended if you're looking for a dog friendly establishment !!
We will definitely be back 😋😋😋
t. j.
Sat outside in the sun and had a few tasty draft ciders. The menu looked pretty amazing and so much choice, so will be paying a visit soon to sample the food. Such an olde worldly pub, lots of little rooms to sit in. Love it
P. S.
Lovely fish and chips and good service, plus a good pint of TIMOTHY taylor
M. R.
Lovely place absolutely stunning sea views, make sure you visit at sunset.
No food however
B. H.
Great food, especially great vegan/vegetarian options. Friendly staff and lovely atmosphere.
S. P.
Very friendly pub, and dog friendly. Our Pug Pippa had lots of attention. Highly recommended
M. B.
My dragon pie was very tasty I would definitely recommend it 👍
D. Z.
Good atmosphere and food very good. Reasonable prices for everything including a great selection of drinks
L. C.
Only sat outside to enjoy the view as it was early morning and wasn't open.
Will definitely visit next time I'm in the area

Great friendly staff, fantastic fresh food and great location, very dog friendly. We'll worth a visit
P. W.
Lovely food well run pub with outdoor dining area with sea views
M. J.
This has always been my favourite hostelry on Anglesey since 1966, great selection of beers, good quality pub food at reasonable prices but best of all it's the staff that make it for me. ..always a smile, a great welcome which is always appreciated. Love it
K.
Can't comment on the food as we only called for a drink, but it's a lovely pub in a great location. Staff were very friendly. I can imagine it would be very nice sat outside on a lovely summer's day looking at the fantastic views. Well worth a visit.
j. l. C.
Lovely homely look about the place ,the staff couldn't do enough for us very friendly ,good price food that melted in your mouth recomend the ship 100% will be going back.
A. B.
The Ship Inn is always quite busy, but the food is excellent and the service is fast . Highly recommended for lunch.
K. P.
Lovely food. Great atmosphere. Excellent service. A must go to place
A. G.
Nice walk along the beach to a great old pub right on the beach, great beers n food.
G. A.
Lovely food...lovely beer..
Lovely service... in a beautiful part of Anglesey..
Thanks
C. F.
Delicious food, friendly and welcoming staff and dog friendly....what more could you want!
A. D.
Not a bad meal, vegetarian lasagne.
However as usual, for me, it's one of very few veggie options I'll eat.
Everyone thinks that every vegetarian / vegan loves mushrooms, halloumi.
How about meat free sausage, chips beans.
Just a normal meal would be great.
Staff were really nice and friendly but not over so.
C. M.
The fish and chips are the best we'd ever had. Lovely service.
S. F.
Lovely friendly pub excellent setting fabulous food
L.
Great setting, excellent food and a choice of well kept real ales. Dog friendly, snug bars, gardens and a terrace overlooking the sea. Arrive early to be sure of a space in the car park.
m.
Lovely restraunt/Pub on the beach
S. R.
Delicious fresh mussels and dry white white eaten outdoors with very good heaters on to keep us comfortable. Beautiful views of the estuary and excellent, friendly service.
s. p.
Always a pleasure to go to this pub , everytime we go to Anglesey x
Lovely friendly staff xx
L. G.
Lovely pub at Red Wharf Bay off the beaten track overlooking the water north west Anglesey. It's got a wealth of history and goes back to the 1700's.
It's open 7 days a week and serves food from 4.30pm but is best to book as it gets incredibly busy. Dog friendly. Lots of outdoor seating.Car park.
We didn't eat in the restaurant but had a drink and a bowl of chips outside.
Nice friendly staff.
Worth a visit.
C. W.
Fabulous location, friendly staff and the chowder is gorgeous. Would definitely recommend this place.
A. W.
Food was ace and arrived very quick!
m. l.
Beautiful place to sit , eat and let the world go by
M. L.
A lovely, very old ,atmospheric pub on the edge if the sea shore. Food is excellent so l is the service. Will return here as often as possible.
C. R.
Nice pub in a fantastic location.... Food was good, but wasn't made the most welcome as it was insisted we pay upfront or leave a card as a tab even though we were sitting in the pub and it wasn't busy! I can see walk-outs being a problem outside in summer, but not inside with only 4 tables taken! Shame, as other than that a nice place to eat.
J. D.
A warm welcome and wonderful food overlooking the beautiful sea view in Red Wharfe Bay
S. A.
Great pub, great service and excellent location. Didn't try the food but definitely will next time.
j. m.
Great location great staff great food nice pint lovely little pub
P. M.
We love this place.its the first port of call for dinner whenever we holiday around the area.imo one of the best places around.the food is lovely and the staff are very attentive.
S. R.
Staying not far away from The Ship Inn I needed to find somewhere that had good gluten free and vegetarian options and the Ship Inn came up trumps to fit 10 of us in.
The welcome and service were first class throughout, the food was devine, the lamb pie was off the charts, everyone really enjoyed their meals.
Some of us made room for pudding and the sticky toffee pudding was the only slight disappointment as it was slightly dry, but it didn't spoil the evening.
If you're in the area definitely go, we'll be going back
H. I.
Plenty of seating in the shade, lovely crab sandwich and well kept beer.
K. A.
Busy for Sunday lunch, good size helpings, drinks prices getting high
P. B.
This is a really magical place. Down by the waters edge. Great views. Great beer and choice of other drinks. Very good food.
The dog really appreciated a doggy ice cream!
D. S.
We had eaten here last year so was hopeful of an equally good meal. And it was. A small hiccup with the food order, but this was noticed by the staff before the meal came out so was corrected after they re-confirmed with us the order.
v. h.
Good oarking considering how busy it was. Fantastic views. Good beer. Excellent service.
J. N.
Lovely place, lovely food, lovely staff we will be back
P. P.
Lovely food, good service, friendly staff

Excellent service and food. Staff are very welcoming and nothing is too much trouble.
Very good menu including daily specials and good value for money.

Love the staff and the atmosphere. Very welcoming of tourists
?.
Lovely friendly pub serving fabulous food.
T. S.
Old pub overlooking Red Wharf Bay ,rules in place because of Covide ,good beer nice staff .
J. D.
Friendly, helpful staff. Food came quickly. Great fish and chips. The chowder was delicious and plenty of it. You can sit outside, but inside is cosy with interesting ornaments to make you feel relaxed. Definitely recommend
J. H.
It's a nice pic with plenty of outdoor seating, quick service and pretty location
M. W.
Very enjoyable meat 4 adults and 3 kid no worries
P. L.
First visit since Covid and its become an outside venue pub with lots of tables outside with a fire in the middle. Great service and great views
K. F.
Not just a lovely location but amazing food too plus excellent friendly service. We have the local beer to accompany the burger and the dragon pie. The burger came with bacon plus other garnishes in a brioche bun with excellent chips, coleslaw and salad. The dragon pie was slow cooked Welsh lamb with chilli and topped with cheesy potatoes and served with greens, carrots and mangetout. Both meals were worthy of 11 out if 10.
B. L.
Traditional pub with good food- the chowder is the speciality and I liked it. Good real ales. It was a little bit cold inside though - could do with some more wood on the fires maybe
N. E.
The Ship has a really good outside set up. It was a warm winter day yesterday so we sat out and had lunch and a couple of drinks. We had excellent service. Would recommend.
K. a. P. C.
Good food , quick friendly service, dog friendly.
M. W.
They were better staffed last year, but like most places at the moment they seem to be light on staff. The food was excellent.
S. H.
Been coming here for 25 years and it's hardly changed. Good beer, great food, friendly staff, 5 stars
D. J.
Went the Ship Inn back in June and had the Dragon Pie. Delicious.
C. B.
Went for dinner. Got a table quickly. Food was great. Good prices. Everyone was super helpful and can not fault the team who work there. They were so busy and yet really attentive and happy to have a chat and a laugh with us. Can highly recommend 👌
J. H.
Beautiful spot, even in the rain..Landlord very friendly and helpful as to the staff. Food looks amazing. Will be try it out later in the week.
S. D.
I had lunch, a light snack there, chicken wings with chilli sauce and a bowl of homemade coleslaw which was also delicious. The view is fantastic and The service from the staff was excellent.. Thank you all xx
K. Y.
Lovely Inn in a beautiful location, great atmosphere, great staff, great food and drink
R. P.
Sad they were not serving meals. Had a nice Latte though.
M. B.
A welcoming pub with a great menu and beers. Helpful friendly staff
S. W.
Sort of dog "friendly" shoved in a windowless room which felt a bit unwelcoming. I had the moules special which was £17.50 the moules were delicious as were the fries but there was far too much so quite a bit of waste. My partner had the fish & chips. Chips were soggy and greasy, fish was dry. Not the best.
E. P.
Friendly staff, nice food, lovely views across the bay, would go again
M. l.
Very good food and excellent service. Thank you.
A. J.
Lovely location, fabulous fish and chips
H. M.
Fantastic pub, great food..
Freindly and efficient service..
Beautiful location.
Happy memories from childhood holidays..
T. P.
Outdoor seating aplenty, fabulous views across bay.
L. J.
Gorgeous view, lovely food and great beer. We came here many years ago and it was lovely to see a photo of the gorgeous little cat who used to climb into the fireplace bless!
C. F.
Not a great beer choice. Long queue for drinks. Fantastic location.
f. j.
After a chilly December walk along the windswept beach we stopped off for a bite of lunch at the Ship Inn. Due to current covid concerns we sat outside in a lovely cabin type shelter. Very friendly and attentive staff quickly to our order and in no time we had excellent fresh food.
A. C.
Food was excellent. Very fast service with nice big portion sizes. Small menu done very well and good social distancing. Everyone enjoyed the food and the burger was amazing. Difficult to get extra drinks though and would have preferred fries instead of the chunky chips but overall delicious and I appreciated the large amount of salad.
T. S.
Beautiful old pub right next to the water - good food and nice local beer
G. W.
Lovely place, particularly on days when you can sit outside and appreciate the views. The staff are friendly and helpful, the food is good, the selection of beers is good and they are well-kept.
They are now geared up with more outside seating than ever and a streamlined ordering system
L. A.
The day we went was very busy but the service was very good. Basic pub grub but the Welsh dragon pie was delicious. There could have been a few more vegetarian options for one of our group... Jacket potatoes or a pasta dish.
M. R.
Outside area changed since last visit with an extensive covered and heated area which is really nice, unfortunately it is only if you are eating. We only had the one drink as it was a bit windy and cool in the cheap seats, it will not stop us continuing to visit but will make us more aware of the weather if intending to go for just drinks.
J. B.
Lovely views. The barriers all over the place spoilt it a bit and could do with a proper coffee machine
A. W. o. G.
Great Harbour side location, with views over Red Wharf Bay and out to sea. Their Mushroom and Tarragon soup is very good!
L. S.
Food lovely, quick service, we visited at lunchtime. Very little parking, they have covered several parking spaces with outside tables, Covid I assume, could be problematic in busy months.
M.
Lovely food. Nice staff.
D. F.
Fab food super staff so dog friendly..excellent
C. O.
Didn't actually intend to visit as was planning on popping in to the Tavern on the Bay but glad we did. Only had a drink but food & drink looked and smelt really good.
Choice of 3 real ales, one of which was brewed in Conwy, called Kenneally's (named after current proprietors and very nice it was too. Will definitely call back at some point
A. W.
Lovely atmosphere, fast and efficient service with lovely food
T. B.
Food is lovely and the service is excellent. Definitely recommend
A. H.
Lovely pub in a great location. Dragon Pie, excellent.
C. R.
Lovely food. Great value for money.
Great setting. Lovely atmosphere
Well worth a visit.
L. G.
Found by accident. We were aiming for The Boat House Inn. Long, windy and steep road sent us to full council car park. We parked in an available space to find it said "Parking for Ship Inn patrons only", so we had to order at the Ship Inn. Service good, waited until 4pm to order food, £15 for a sea food chowder (thick creamy soup). Sun was out. Well organised. Harbour side. Lovely all round.
P. D.
Just had lunch and it was a great experience all round. Great service (even with covid), good food and a lovely pint. Parking is a real problem as so popular and the public car park is not that big, but knowing that, we parked at Benllech that has loads of space and had a lovely walk across the sand at low tide and coast path on way back - even better!! Had burger and Dragon pie - both really good. Would definitely recommend.
M. P.
Super location, right on the shoreline. Lunch menu was limited, but the food was good (great fish and chips!). Plenty of tables for outside dining. Good Covid precautions and the staff were all great. Thanks for a special lunchtime treat.
B. “. J.
Brilliant place for for and drink! Just go there and see for yourself. 🏴
C. R.
The Ship Inn is in such a perfect location right on the sea front a stones throw from water. I went for an evening meal with my kids and my parents, the service was excellent and the food was beautiful. Finished the evening having a drink outside watching the sunset over the bay! ❤️
M. H.
Great Place, Good Food. When the sun shines you could be anywhere in the world.
R. D.
Good experience nice location nice views good service and the food was ok.
d. l.
One of Anglesey's finest pubs with good quality food and situated with pleasant views on the banks of Red Wharf Bay. Plenty of seating outside but I love the traditional decor inside. Good choice of real ales.
P. U.
Normally 5 star but at the moment with covid 19 you cant go in, and served through the window, no problem for now but hopefully people can get inside soon as its getting cooler,
P. B.
Lovely little place great pub great food
M. J.
Best place on Anglesey been going since 1966...Great atmosphere, very good pub food at sensible prices.. best of all warm welcoming staff....the views are awesome, what's not to love?
Y. E.
Great pub in an excellent location. Strongly recommended.
P. B.
Lovely location and for covid times very diligent in observing the rules. But even more important- the Dragon Lamb pie is one of the nicest pub meals I have ever eaten. Delicious!
A. B.
Lovely place right by the sea, food looked and smelt amazing !
J. L.
Really excellent service. Amazing food. Very pleasant staff, even provided colouring books for the children. Wonderful experience. Thank you.
j. k.
Lovely place just by the bay. All food is currently being served outside only. Had the seafood chowder and it was really nice. My wife had the cheese sandwich which was ok. The only thing that spoilt it was the weather as a squall blew up and tried to remove the food from our plates and forks before we could get it into our mouths. On the up side at least it did not rain.
C. M.
Great pub in great location. Try the Dragon Pie - it's lush!
B. W.
Absolutely superb food and location. Fast service for the initial order but could have done with a drink with the meal. We gave up & went home after the meal having waited unfruitfully for 3 staff who separately said someone would come to take drinks orders.
J. M.
Went here to reminisce about childhood memories with our parents. Very welcoming hosts, great food....too much to chose from! Felt very safe covid wise. Definitely be back.
G. A.
Lamb dragon pie was a highlight. I will have that next time I come here.
C. B.
The staff were amazing and nothing was too much trouble. The food was quick and delicious. The mother in law said it was the nicest bit of fish she has ever had. Very Covid safe x
I. B.
Sat outside under a canopy to eat.
A radiant heater was available to take off the chill, which was welcome.
Meal was fabulous. Fish and chips. Large portions that we struggled to finish.
S. P.
Very nice people. Very old pub. Smal tables and chairs for tall people.
R. J.
Can't fault it, staff were very welcoming and friendly went though the specials.
Didn't have to wait long for the food and it was served piping hot. Very tasty and just the sort of food you want from a place like this.
Pub was very cosy and plenty of space inside for our baby.
If we are ever in the area again we will be back.
g. t.
Cracking nautical themed pub on red wharf bay. Watch where you park or you might lose your vehicle to Davy jones ' locker. Alright if you drive a submarine on wheels. Nice pint and food. I had fish n chips 🍻
G. p. (.
Great place for a drink and to take in the views.
J. A.
Lovely atmosphere very helpful staff and excellent food. Lovely stop after 10 mile coastal walk from tydynn isaf holiday park to red wharf bay.
A. P.
The food is fabulous, the views outside are also great. The owners are really nice and welcoming
G. R.
Due to covid we were restricted to outdoor seating. Drinks weren't very hot but service was good. Great location in summer.
D. A.
We went to the Ship Inn on a busy July, Saturday night. I didn't realise it would close early because of Covid but with an hour and a half to closing, the staff couldn't do more to accommodate our party of six. Although we sat at a table further away from the other tables, Andrew and his team ensured we were able to order food before the kitchen closed and that we were served drinks twice, getting an order in before last orders. The food was lovely as usual and we were very happy with the service offered at this tricky time. Thank you all.
K. M.
Great service and views. Really traditional pub.
J. B.
Food was really nice and good size portions. Order to food arriving was quick. Great customer service. Got busy and another person taking orders would have helped. I would definitely recommend it.
J. M.
Brilliant range of beers and menu looked fantastic. Wish we hadn't prepared a picnic.
D. C.
Haven't been there for 9 years but it's still oldie worldie and most of the pictures are still in the same place. Love the new screens on the benches really in keeping with the rest of the pub.
S. T.
Great food and service with fantastic views
A. R.
Lovely welcome and prompt table service. Ideal spot for a quick al fresco drink while on a beautiful walk with our dog round Red Wharf Bay and up into the forest.
r. d.
Nice pub, great views 👍
N. P.
Well run pub. Friendly helpful staff, great food and service. Well worth a visit.
I. L.
The staff are fantastic, friendly and personable. On one visit, I wasn't sure if I wanted the soup, so without a second thought a little cupful was brought out so I could try some. Another time there was an ale I had never had, so they poured some so I could try it. The waiting staff are friendly and attentive and ready to chat. The location is stunning - Red Wharf pay is beautiful and the pub is lovely, well maintained and a credit to the owners. So why 4 not 5 stars? The bar food is average in amongst all that excellence. There's nothing wrong with it at all. It just suffers by comparison.
P.
Dog friendly indoors and out, cosy, great waitresses
S. L.
What a location. Friendly staff. Need to go back for a meal next time 😎
R. C.
Sat outside with our dog. Very pleasant staff and very good food. Next time we are in the area, we will certainly be back.
K. P.
Fabulous pub in a beautiful place. Terrific food fayre. Staff jumping through hoops with covid issues to make your experience a wonderful one. Very highly recommended
l. P.
We went quite late on, but they had sold out of nearly everything that we asked for!
Food was good, the chowder wasn't as good as it's previously been, it used to be very thick and creamy and it tasted far more like a packet base (even if it wasn't, that's just how I thought it tasted).
Burger looked good.
A portion of fries was very expensive for what we actually received.
Sticky toffee pudding was ok, sauce was nice but don't even think there was a teaspoon full of ice cream served with it.
Service was good and quite quick.
We would return as it's very convenient, but it is very expensive for what you actually get .
And hopefully they'll have the dragon pie next time.
d. r.
Nice meal. Friendly local staff.fantastic views.
K. B.
We had a lovely meal with a fantastic view of the bay
B. L.
My favorite pub on the Wales section of our trip.
D. D.
If you want to escape to a shoreline pub then look no further.
G.
Good food, good menu for meat and fish, poor for veggies, too much goats cheese, yuk. Portions are generous with the option of a smaller size if preferred. Beer is the most expensive I have ever paid. On a nice day the location is great. The fishcakes are particularly good as is the chowder.
B. M.
An absolute great little pub right by the sea. I've been a few times now and all the times I've been it's been a 5 star experience. Yesterday when we went I had the muscles that were in a white wine and garlic sauce and they were the best thing I'd ever had. Fully recommend the place. There is also a wide variety menu with gluten free and vegetarian options available. Great service with smiling friendly staff even during busy periods like yesterday.
D. O.
Beer first class, food excellent, what more could you ask for? Well, the staff/owners (forgive my ignorance) are very pleasant and knowledgeable about local stuff. On top of that the views are terrific. The pub is decked out with all sorts of quaint objects, mostly from old ships, that are very interesting too!
S. C.
Lovely pub lovely food and excellent service.
K. F.
Fantastic position, great place for a cool beer
A. T.
Fantastic location and the food if fab too.
P. P.
Lovely location. Delicious Sunday lunch
m. h.
Great friendly service! Very welcoming Welcoming, great pint on a stop off! Will be returning! Lovely spot great views real suntrap too!
G. R.
We thought that we'd be lucky to get a table ,but, we did. The staff were extremely welcoming, it was just 12 on a Sunday lunchtime. We ordered a drink and were given a tab key. We ordered rump of lamb with Sunday roast trimmings and dragon pie (braised spicy lamb with a potato and cheese topping. We didn't have to wait long. The food was delicious, meat was done to perfection and the vegetables fresh. Staff were attentive and very professional. Wonderful lunch.
G. D.
Country pub, fair prices on new food and drinks, fantastic views and scenery, typical country pub, worth a visit .
M. B.
Beautiful traditional pub.
Fantastic food
Lovely staff
Dog friendly
And....Great beer
L. B.
Lovely staff, wine and beer
A. E.
A really lovely pub. The food was excellent and the staff were so friendly and polite. The road to the bay is a bit awkward to drive down but it is well worth persevering with. We will definitely be returning if we are ever in the area again.
K. 7.
The staff were friendly and helpful, patient and understanding when waiting for our children to decided. But the food was only really mediocre I'm sorry to say and defiantly not gourmet as per there website, it's okay pub food at best. I was in a group of eight who chose a mixed selection from the menu and specials board. And only one of us really thought their food was worth having again.
M. F.
First time here this year and very impressed. Lots of covered seating erected outside and well spaced and first class service, so well organised and the food faultless with no wait even though extremely busy. The place to go!
J. M.
Very good food and friendly staff and the dogs made welcome lovely fresh sandwiches and chips of course
S. B.
The steak burger was the best I've ever had!
A. C.
Always heard brilliant things and finally got round to going. Couldn’t fault the place! Really friendly staff, fast service and great food. Plus the location is amazing ❤️ 10/10
R. H.
Quaint old traditional oak beamed pub in excellent location. Good choice menu with reasonable prices. Dogs allowed in snug and children allowed in smaller front bar. Good size car park and situated on harbour, next to beach for having a good stroll to earn your lunch!
J. A.
It's undeniably a fantastic location with views out over the bay, the weather was superb when we visited so we sat outside and enjoyed the sun. The pub itself is great, very nice in side with good facilities. The staff were a little stand-offish, but that's pretty standard of UK hospitality!
The food was good - (we had fish and chips), I'd had the Mussels before which were fantastic, but they weren't on when we visited. The prices are maybe a little high, but there's not much else offering the same quality & location so I think it's acceptable. If you're looking for a good pub meal in a great spot - check it out.
J. W.
Good menu choices and separate vegan menu. Dog friendly and helpful staff. Ample parking.
K. R.
Lovely food big portions. Very friendly place.
n. s.
Dogs welcome inside we was taken to a room at the back of the pub. Room was basic unlike rest of the eating areas, anyhow we decided to order food. Food was standard nothing special, and the cost of the meal in my opnion was overpriced. First time visit but sadly last.
Younger staff were friendly than the older, remember customers keep business open!
N. L.
Nice pub with good food although a little expensive. We had to sit in a very small room at the back as we had a dog with us. Staff were very friendly.
j. l.
Really enjoyed the food and the staff were great. Simple but well done food. The local beer is a good choice.
C. W.
Great location looking out over Red Wharf Bay, perfect seating for a drink on a sunny day. Food is also good.
m. g.
Great atmosphere and very good food...
A. C.
Half way through a walk we stopped for a beer and a snack. Great service from a new member of staff with a great crab sandwich and local ales. Will call in when back over to Anglesey.
T.
Bit cramped but a lovely traditional pub. Wouldn't recommend the southern fried chicken burger unless you like crispy/ welldone food. but the gammon, curry and beef burger are all very good. Big portions. And best of all the chocolate orange Cheese Cake is amazing ❤❤
L. C.
Wonderful setting. Great food. Helpful staff and very covid aware. It was all very well organised. Did I say the food was great. Will make a point of going there again next time we are on Anglesea
m.
Had lovely meal...great friendly service...good size portions....well worth visit...but come early for car park space...limited.....will be back.
M. O.
Excellent meal of fish and chips. Stunning location. Weather not good but still lovely views. Only downside is pub is listed as dog friendly but dogs are limited to the snug, smallest of the four rooms.
A. B.
I wanted to like The Ship - I REALLY wanted to like the ship, but it pains me to say that it isn't quite up to scratch. Ostensibly dog friendly, we booked a table for the two of us and our pooch. We were put in a bleak room next to the toilets at the back of the pub when we arrived. Fortunately, it was a reasonable day so we took ourselves outside to one of the table there which was fine. Beer, food and service were all acceptable, but nothing special. I understand that we arrived just as the busy season came to a crunching halt with the end of school holidays, but that's no excuse to stop trying. We'll probably go again, but just for a drink. Oh, and the location is a bit special too - best to mention that.
S. R.
Great pub in a wonderful location. Recommend the Dragon Pie.
b. c.
Looked like a great menu and very atmospheric inside but didn't book ahead so no room...for the kids.... apparently although seemed like a good few empty tables. Contemplated leaving the kids in the car while me and my partner dined but decided to spend our money elsewhere.
G. G.
Had fish n chips outside under cover, had a beautiful view of the bay, lovely experience. Car parking quickly gets taken.
C. B.
Nice setting. Gets quite busy. Lots missing off the menu. Food quite overcooked
K. K.
Brilliant stop off for the kids and for some local ales, lovely place, great service (despite not being allowed indoors at the moment) they have sheltered benches/huts with a nice harbour view. We last visited about 5 years ago and will be coming back in the years to come! Keep up the good efforts
J. N.
Excellent pub in a fantastic location right on Red Wharf Bay. Plenty of seating outside. Excellent Real Ale. Food of high quality and a reasonable price. Children welcome, also dogs. Dragon Pie and fishcakes were both good and they were doing Paella outside on Fridays.
N. B.
If you are seeking a pub with both good beer and honest to goodness food this place ticks all the boxes. Well worth a visit.
l. c.
Lovely old traditional pub in a lovely location. Dragon pie is recommended.
M. K.
Fantastic location to take advantage of the stunning view across to the mainland. Good food (not the cheapest) and great Northern service from the Bury waiter. Thank you
H. H.
Good beach-side pub with fine selection of drinks including choice of real ales. Good for food too. Families and dogs catered for in the appropriate areas (clearly sign-posted). Plenty of parking. Busy in season.
P. W.
Gorgeous old pub in an idyllic setting. Well kept ales though the Taylor's Landlord was overpriced. Didn't eat so can't comment on the food. Lots of space to sit outdoors & enjoy the view plus a sheltered area. A very popular pub and understandably so.
S. “. W.
Poor reception on arrival at 11.45am when I took a disabled friend (& her dog) for coffee. Was told all dog friendly areas were reserved & was advised to sit outside (cold & windy). A member of staff did then come out to offer us a table inside which was only reserved from 1.30pm onwards, but our first & lasting impression was not positive I'm afraid.
C. C.
Very busy but friendly pub which does a good range of freshly made food. A separate room with a for dogs and plenty of outside seating. The setting is wonderful and it's well worth a visit.
S. W.
The Ship inn sits right on the front by the beach of Red wharf Bay. The food was lovely. I can recommend the Chowder it was delicious served with crusty bread.
I. D.
Located right on the beach, friendly pub with excellent food.
A. C.
Lovely pub and team, food looked great and was well enjoyed by the guys we were seated with. Only gripe was that with a dog you were put in a back room which lacked the homeliness of the rest of the pub but it was so friendly that I would definitely go again.
M. E.
Watched the footy in there whilst dog walking on a busy sunny day.
Very nice beer and food. Great location with wonderful views.
Pricey, but nothing unexpected for its location and quality. It didn't stop us going back again!
S. Y.
Food pretty good, view and beer outstanding.
R. M.
The food I had was excellent, chips hand cut sirloin steak cooked to perfection. You will need to book!! Only let down for me is the cost of the drink, but all were of good quality! Car parking available.
G. J.
We returned here 45 yrs from our first visit ,the pub is very much the same and was very busy , all the meals looked nice and customers were happy ,we may come again within the next 45yrs.lol
A. F. (.
The setting is stunning, one of the best sights on the island. As for the Ship Inn, well the 3 times we visited this week (06-07-13 to 13/07/13) it was very busy, must have been due to the fantastic weather we are having.
The menu is pretty limited and IMO expensive for what it is which is why we didn't try the food, but from what we saw the portions were pretty large & everything seemed to turn up with huge slices of brown bread.
The beer was cold which was needed but it was overpriced as was the coffee\coke\lemonade, when you get a few coppers in change from £7.00 for 1 beer & a very small coffee it does taint the review slightly.

The food was that good, we went back a few days later. Fish was cooked to perfection and the veggie fish fingers (battered halloumi), was a great twist on normal fish fingers.
If going in the evening, you'll probably have to book a table for food, as lots of customers.

3 of us had a delicious evening meal sitting outside. Couldn't fault the service except doesn't take orders till 5.30pm ,. Well worth waiting for, small F/chips and Sea bass special, followed by Baily's white chocolate cheesecake & ice cream. Really dog friendly car park . Deffo worth another visit.

No eating inside when we visited, but had a meal outside. Been before, food really nice, views amazing. Can't wait to get the virus out if the way so we can sit inside.

A cosy pub. Friendly service. The dragon pie is very tasty. Reasonable prices.

Excellent food in a fantastic location. When done right, simple food can be great. We went for lunch. Ham sandwich and cheese sandwich with salad on the side were really good. The kids had sausage, chips and beans...and three good quality sausages on the plate. Any place prepared to dish up quality food for little ones is a winner with me. Have paid more not too far from here for very poor children's food.

Love it,of tide low walk from Benllech beach to ship pub

Really nice. Clean and great selection of cheap drinks. The food is surprisingly nice. I was always put of a bit but it is delicious. Especially eating with the view of red wharf bay

Good beer, food and service. But you go in the colder back room if you gave a dog.

Only dropped by the Ship Inn by mistake, thought we may as well have a drink & a bite to eat. Staff coping very well with Covid 19. Had a prawn sandwich, absolutely lovely,on granary bread and loads of prawns.£8.95 which sounds a lot for a sandwich but 100% worth it.

Went back 3 times. Great for a drink looking out across the bay. Loved it !

Very busy as always. The food was OK. Standard pub grub. Seems like the same food and presentation for 15yrs. Could do with a menu revamp.

The most friendly people, great drinks and the food was excellent.

Nice pub a little on the pricey side but the beer was good

Nice location and dog friendly which is always nice to see 😊
Prices are abit high but you pay for what you get when it comes to the food. The food was very tasty and can have 2 sizes on most meals so compliments to the chef 😊
The waiting staff are really friendly but in my opinion, the bar team could be abit more interactive/friendly with the customers, they were abit too formal for my preference but each to their own 😊
Would come here again and recommend to people.

Nice old pub in a lovely beach side location.
Always busy.

Beautiful pub right on the beach very friendly staff.

Food and service first class and they accommodated us even though we hadn't booked. Did get a bit crowded though and we felt a little unsafe at times.

On holiday and went to the Ship Inn several times for a drink and take in the beautiful views, on our last day we decided to have a meal, for starters we had homemade carrot and coriander soup, and whitebait, very nice, for mains we had the beef chilli and cheese on nacho's, hubby had the large fish and chips, again all very nice, they even cooked our dog a couple of sausages. All the staff were very friendly and polite. I suggest people ignore the negative comments on here and try the food for themselves as I fully recommend it.

Nice pub. Lovely setting. Bit pricey.q I wasn't best pleased to be ordered into the family room when our 2 month old granddaughter arrived with her mother. Seemed a bit harsh.

Because of covid the inside was closed off but we where accommodated outside under a canopy with a heater. The staff where very efficient and pleasant and the food was lovely but the outside toilets we had to use where not very nice

Lovely hearty food overlooking bay. Old fashion pub in an old wood beam building. Food cost on average £13 for a meal. Fish and chips was tasty.Meal of the day for me was grilled fillet of seabass tasty £15.95. Overall a lovely experience.

Sat in one of the cosy huts and enjoyed a pint of Landlord. Pretty much perfect
S. M.
Excellent food and service a special thanks to Gareth for looking after us so well will definitely be back thanks 👍

Love this place, great atmosphere and excellent grub
S.
Nice selection of local beers in a fantastic location right on the bay .
J. W.
Great location for a drink and a bite to eat. Pub is a little dated and service on hot days can be slow especially during school and bank holidays (it gets very busy). Although it has it's own car park, it can be very difficult to get a space when busy.

Great place for a birthday treat! Lovely pint (Kenneally’s Bitter brewed in Conwy), very tasty meal (sweet potato & chick-pea curry with rice and home-made chips . . . and Classic FM playing in the background! The staff were really friendly and setting is always a sight for sore eyes and breath of fresh air.

Pretty good, expected the food to be a bit fancier but it’s fine for what it was. Sandwiches for example were on standard sliced bread instead of a really nice bread. Staff were very good though and the ice creams were nice. There’s also limited options in this bay!

Quaint old world style restaurant.
Homely food.

Wish we had time to go for an evening meal... But lunch was great, and the staff very welcoming!

Visited on a cold wet windy day so gave us a warm shelter. Place looked busy but we found a table and ordered coffee.
Cosy pub which has charm, long wait for food so we went elsewhere. Will revisit though.

Great location and the landlady and staff welcome dogs into the two back rooms. Food is well prepared and priced. Large carpark but only for customers of the pub.

Very busy but worth the wait.

Lets be honest this is a lovely place, fab views and brill location....and yes you pay for it, £1.70 for a soda water etc. £9.50 for a pint and glass of soda. Barman looked like he fancied a TV roll, dressed in waistcoat and bow tie, no smile, or at least an artificial one. Pay up and go.

Was hete a couple of years ago food was fantastic service excellent covid handled well really enjoyed it if your in this area well worth a visit.
