Good place a for a quick well priced pint. Also serves food and located in the middle of Shawlands, the Sir John Stirling delivers exactly what you would expect from any other Witherspoons. There is Wi-Fi but no music instead you will find the placed filled with conversation. It's a chilled atmosphere and the bar tenders are all nice people, it is also wheelchair accessible.

Disappointed been in a few times for lunch with my mum and it has been good for food and drink! Took my son in for breakfast after we paid, we got told they don't have bread so we can't have toast! fine, We got offered a muffin tho. Two breakfasts came out and 2 potatoes scones were missing from the big scottish breakfast plate and one from the small Scottish breakfast! One potatoes scone got brought out on the 3rd breakfast plate and I was told that was for the big breakfast plate! I pointed out we were all ment to have potatoe scones! the waitress went back to the kitchen and when the potatoe scones came out we had ate half out food and there was still one potatoe missing too. £18.88 for breakfast and half is missing not great.

Every time I'm in Shawlands, with or without the family we always pop in for lunch. The food is always delicious and the prices are very reasonable. I occasionally go in for a pint too, and I really enjoy a bottle of Baltika. (Russian lager), and it's also a very reasonable price. I would recommend anyone who hasn't been in here to give it a try as the staff are also very friendly and attentive.There are a few changes in place in view of Covid 19 for the safety of customers and staff, but it's nice to relax at a table to enjoy lunch or a beer.

Have drank in here many times over many years now and hasn't changed. Lots of faces from the past still having a pint .. long may it last! Best prices in Shawlands for sure .. that's for their value meals and value drink. Have been in just for a coffee also. Sports showing on bar area, but quite a big eating area at back has no TV, but you can hear commentating. Drinks are very reasonable, with a huge selection of both beers and spirits. Food good, nice selection, promptly served. Only drawback. You have to order and pay immediately at bar. Also when you ve ordered and paid for, tea and coffee at bar, you are given an empty mug to take across to another table where you operate the machine yourself. THIS IS NOT A GOOD IDEA IF YOU'RE DISABLED LIKE ME. ALSO IT MAKES YOU FEEL AS IF YOU'RE IN SUPERMARKET CAFF!!!!

Wee update post Covid restrictions - still decent, friendly, well run. Could do with a few more dark, guest ales but still a good venue You know what you are getting in a Spoons joint in general but the staff here really do listen to feedback especially when it comes to the beer and stock issues. Managed by Anne, a cracking lady who runs a tight ship. Loos are up steps but disabled loo on entry level (ask for key). Sport shown on multiple screens near bar but up back is for socialising. Kids allowed, with no official kick out time, so as long as they don't run wild then you can relax. It's a tight fit with tables up the back, and serious drinking down front, so wee ones could easily get bumped in innocence if left to stroll. There is a young contingent, some drinking pre club and others borderline underage on juice, but I've never seen a fight or anyone chucked out. Good food deals, worth a visit but dont go expecting frills... It does what it says on the tin.

Sir John Stirling Maxwell, part of JD Weatherspoons, was very busy on Friday night with a very mixed clientele, people of all ages, sitting,eating,and enjoying each others company in a warm, carpeted environment with absolutely no music. Great !!. The staff are young and attentive and appeared to be doing a good job. The toilets were clean and tidy . The beer was good, Guinness at £2.85 , Deuchars at around £1.80. Food is served here and it looked okay. I gave this place three stars because I didn't eat here. I would most likely come back for lunch or tea and reappraise the pub. However,it was a good experience.

Situated in Shawlands Glasgow this well established pub has much to offer you of its only a quick drink or a family meal. They offer a selection of real ales which you can sample before you bye currently £1.99 per pint. The could is very good and they also do specials.

Unfortunately, although the service was great using the wetherspoons app, this review will be tinged with the disappointment of social distancing and track and trace failures. Doors were clearly marked as entrance only and exit only and there was a huge sign telling new customers to wait to be seated. However in the 3 hours that I was there I witnessed around 20 people bypass the track and trace sign-in sheet by walking in through the "exit only" door. New customers arriving were sometimes frustrated by having to wait to be signed in by a member of staff. There were occasions when people were signing themselves in, rather than wait, and therefore increasing the risk of transmission as multiple people were touching the pen. Tables could have been more widely spaced. Almost all of the customers were crammed into the lower half of the pub with the upper half almost empty. There could have been improved social distancing by removing some more tables forcing customers to observe social distancing rules more effectively. I understand there's a balance to be struck between health and the economy, but with new cases rising exponentially I'm sure the last thing the hospitality sector needs is another lockdown. We all have a responsibility to wider public health and if the hospitality sector want to weather this storm they need to think "long term" rather than chasing the "quick buck" in between lockdown periods.

Tonight was curry night but three of us went with other options. Two of us had the Christmas burger, one vegetarian, one not. I had the veggie which was the standard burger served with brie and cranberry sauce which was a pleasant change. My onion rings were somewhat over done verging on the burnt rather than crispy. The other burger was enjoyed by my friend. As I said curry night but at 7.15ish there was no jalfrezi or vindaloo! The 4th option was chicken and ribs also served with onion rings - this time they looked crisp and fresh rather than reheated and over done. On the whole a pleasant evening with polite friendly staff taking and delivering orders.
