1st time & the service was excellent, very welcoming & friendly. A little odd that they seemed to pack the corner of the restaurant with people while the rest stayed empty but didn't spoil anything. The food was great, the cowboy burger was superb. A sharing platter of nachos, 3 burgers & 6 cokes came to £60 which seemed fine to me.

I stayed in the Premier Inn opposite for a week and frequented here for meals. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. I appreciated their conversation and speed of service. The prices are good, especially for the carvery. I knocked off a star because the quality of the food can be lacking. Definitely room for improvement here but it was not terrible or inedible. It is a comfortable/relaxing setting and I was grateful to have this option so close to the hotel. Scottish breakfast: £6.75 Large Carvery: £8.75

Having only been to the Steam Wheeler once when it opened, 5 of us went for a carvery on Saturday. It was busy, but not over crowded. Although we had not booked, were given a lovely table in a booth by the window. The waitress Ellie was so pleasant and explained when our food would be ready and kept us up to date. Her happy and willing attitude was a delight! The food was delicious and everything spotless. The atmosphere was perfect for a family meal. Well done Steam Wheeler!

Food was all very good, service quick and attentive. Sat outside but inside looked good always. Small screens showing sports inside. Carvery was on and although we did not have that it looked high quality. Recommended and will go again.

Excellent meal today at steam wheeler. We had steaks which were done exactly as we had asked for them to be done. Excellent service from all staff as always never had a bad meal at all staff always helpful and considerate. I have mobility issues and if I have the carvery always have help getting back to my seat with my dinner as I use a walking stick. Today it was Lindsey who attended to us very helpful and kind. As are all the staff. Thanks again for your service. We will be back.

Had the rump steak yesterday, cooked to perfection. I had peppercorn sauce with it and it was just perfect. The restaurant was warm, welcoming and the staff were amazing. The service was quick and easy, I was able to sit back and relax at my table and my food was brought out to me quickly. Drinks were cold and crisp in clean glasses.

Sunday dinner. Fantastic STAFF. Very attentive, efficient, professional and fun. Food was great. Had a lovely evening at Steam Wheeler. We had the carvery and while the creamed potatoes weren't available, it was still great as always (although please bring them back, they're the best!?) The service from John was VERY good!! Attentive, cheery and friendly. A great asset to the place!

Five stars isn’t enough for how good breakfast with chase and jayjay was today! The staff were absolutely fantastic! Really good with all the kids! The breakfast considering how busy it was came out piping hot and super quick! The mascots went round all the tables plenty of time with all the kids and it was absolutely fun day had by all! Very polite and friendly staff it really makes a big difference to the overall eating experience. There were toys and games for young children and an outdoor play area. A good selection of drinks and the food was very good. It is hard to find a place with a carvery and I must say it was all very good. I will be back!

As with every visit to this establishment, we did not leave disappointed. Although the staff were busy, they provided the best of service, always with a smile. Food was served promptly and was piping hot, a sign that the products were cooked to order. My partner and I both had steak, to be honest I always do, and it was cooked to perfection. I have not been into another restaurant where I could be guaranteed my steak was done exactly the way i like it every time. So it's seven visits out of seven that get 100% satisfaction rating. If you are in the area, drop in, as you will be made most welcome.

Had a nice time with a friend and my grandson. Lyndsey our server was the loveliest person ever and encouraged my grandson to eat some more of his meal before talking him through all the toppings he could have on ice cream. Nothing was too much trouble for her. Would like to have a lunchtime option of sandwich or baguette but sadly this is only available on weekdays.

Been going here for a few weeks now food and service been brilliant can’t fault them, then this evening my meal was spoiled by being seen to table then the couple on the table next to us being served before us even though they came in after us. Some time later one of guys asked how we were doing I pointed out the situation with the service and he promptly sorted things out for us which somewhat changed my opinion on them. Well done to this guy for promptly sorting us out.

We were welcomed and seated by the fire by John who was very friendly. We opted for carvery and Joe served us. Joe was very chatty and directed us to gravy and sauces after serving our food. Restaurant provided an ambient relaxed atmosphere which suited our needs.

Visited 24 August 2022. Beef and gammon were excellent. Vegetables lukewarm. Waited full 10 minutes between starters and being invited up for carvery and restaurant wasn't all that busy. Assume waiter forgot about us. Had to ask for bill twice and even then had to request a paper bill to check it was correct. Could do (much) better.

The deserts are always top notch, and the kids play area is great. The burgers aren't fab though. They're quite bland, and don't have a great texture, even homemade 100% beef mince on the frying pan gives better results. Skip the burger, and go for the carvery, that's nice!

Had two meals at this pub, one on the day of the Queens funeral when we were waiting for an evening flight back to Southampton. We were very grateful that the pub was open, as nothing else was. Fabulous carvery! If you're looking for a vegetarian or meat carvery, this is the place to go to. Homely interior, cosy and good atmosphere. The staff are super friendly and helpful. My family and I have been going to this place for years as we have yet to find anything quite as good!

Very nice food, service is good and friendly. Had a couple of different burgers from this place and always been happy. The desserts are something else though. Amazing cakes and Sundaes. Full size eclairs as part of one cake, full size flakes on another. They also do 'cake away' so if you're struggling can take an amazing cake home for later.

For a carvery I was actually really impressed! The girl that served us was really nice and explained the menu etc jsut like a waiter should. Really nice atmosphere and the food I ordered format he menu was a really good standard. 3 of us eat with drinks for about £40 so pricing is not too bad either! Some carverys are a bit drab or the food is really low quality but the food here was actually really good quality, I'd deffo recommend! Ideal for a pre or post munch after braehead! (I'd suggest after as shopping on a full stomach can lead to tears)

We stumbled across this place by chance, after going to IKEA which is close by. Two meals for £11.00 during the week is a bargain, and when we walked in the smell of the carvery left us an easy choice! A choice of 3 meats, and as much veg as you want. The roast potatoes were slight dried out but still tasty. Great service from the staff, very friendly too.

Very quiet surprisingly Friday at 16:00 but a few came in within 15 mins Rachel worked very hard and as it got busier 2 more servers appeared ,Carverys can rarely be great this was OK quality of the meat was fine although I think the sage and onion stuffing looked unappetising, the big Yorkshire Puddings don't fare too well under the heat lamps you could have made it into a plant pot ,7/10

We had seen an advertisement on Facebook for the Grazers menu and wanted to try this. First of all the staff greeted us and asked if any dietary requirements. We were seated and drinks were offered. We ordered 3 items from the Grazers menu and these were stunning. Will definitely be back to sample the others. We had puddings which were also lovely. Overall the staff could not have been more helpful and friendly which is a credit to them and food was lovely.

Decent family restaurant with really good outside area for eating, with a large play area for the kids. In terms of food, the carvery is definitely worth the money and would be my recommendation, has well sized portions and quality. Found the food from the menu is a bit overpriced for what you get, so stick to the carvery. 4x stars for the service and experience, especially as the sun was shining while we sat outside.

I visited the Steam Wheeler with my parents on Saturday, the 9th of April, 2022, which was my first visit for a long time. The menu had changed slightly since I had last been, but it was a very good choice of things to eat. In fact, I struggled to decide at first as there was so many things that I could have chosen! For starters, my Mum had Prawn Cocktail, which looked lovely, my Dad had Soup of the Day which was tomato, again, his looked lovely and I opted for the Brie Bites, which was Brie inside breadcrumbs and served with a caramelised red onion chutney and salad garnish. All three starters were given thumbs up. For our main courses, my Mum had Scampi served with Chips, Mushy Peas (although there was a choice of Garden Peas also) and Tartare Sauce, my Dad had Hunters Chicken which was served with Chips, beer battered Onion Rings and salad garnish and I had The BBQ Chicken Burger, which was a Southern Fried Chicken Fillet Burger topped with American style cheese slices, BBQ sauce, beef tomato, lettuce and burger sauce in a seeded bun and served with French fries. We were full after our two courses so didn't bother with desserts. The staff were very friendly and welcoming, the toilets were very clean and the service and food top drawer. I'd definitely go back and I think my Girlfriend would like to visit the Steam Wheeler also.

Fod above average and tasty but slightly over priced. The service is 5 star and the staff lovely and kind. The place is clean and welcoming with a nice lighted ambience, even during the day. We had a 4 month baby who was lovely and quiet and was brest fed discreetly with no noise or fusd, in fact not sure if anyone noticed. The manager was visible and his staff gave as always a first class service. The reason I did not give 5 star is slightly over priced for lunch time menu. I will be a return visitor.

We had a wonderful Sunday Roast carvery which was delicious as always. We were quite impressed with the covid regulations in place, although the system faltered slightly causing us a delay of 30mins before being allowed to go up for food. After mentioning to our server, they gave us free pigs in blankets with our meal, as an apology. We just put it all down to "teething problems" since re-opening after lockdown. It was great to be back, and to see that all the usual familiar staff were still there. Hopefully it won't be long til we're back on a regular basis again. Onwards & Upwards

Their Carvery is great. Choice of 3 different meats (Gammon aka Ham, Turkey and Beef) Good selection of vegetables, Homemade cranberry sauce and a very flavourful gravy. I was also here 2 yrs ago and it has shown to be consistently good. They also have table service now (you used to place your order at the bar) which was a nice upgrade. The servers are super friendly and when I received my Latte at the end of the meal, there was a "wee" biscuit on the side, such a nice finishing touch (North American restaurants should follow their example, well done!) When I'm back in Scotland, I'll be going to the Steam Wheeler again!

Nice vibe. You don't have to pay upfront. You don't have to order at the bar. It's good old fashioned waiting service. When you order, it's at the table using tablet computer. When you pay the waiter or waitress has the stuff on them like a tool belt! So a mix of old fashioned values and hi tech. Marsden's pedigree is famous for being diabetes friendly. Their outlets in Scotland are rare. The outside area is wonderful in summer by the way. Best of its kind. Proper English pub vibe. Carvery. Cakes. What's not to like?

Made to feel very unwelcome from having to wait out in the rain to be allowed to enter to having to wait 45mins for carvery. Gin and lemonade came without any ice or lemon etc and waiter argued that drinks didn't come with "fruit" (did give ice and lemon after we asked). We have been several times previously pre Covid but staff were very belligerent towards us. We were wanting to have a birthday treat for our daughter in law but it was she in the end who wanted to leave because of the atmosphere.

Visited this restaurant last evening with another 3 friends (all ladies). On arrival we were pleasantly greeted by our waiter and shown to our table. We were given just the right amount of time before being asked if we were ready to order from the menu. Our drinks were served timeously even although the restaurant was very busy. Our food was delicious and chef met all of our requirements, eg. chips instead of rice, 1 small portion, etc. We had a lovely, relaxing evening and did not feel rushed to leave. Another great evening in this establishment. Well done everyone!

My wife and I were well received at the front door and shown to our table. Although there's a carvery, we both decided on the cheese and bacon burgers. The atmosphere was good, a warm feel to the place and the service was slick. It's perhaps not the sort of place you might take your girlfriend, but it's close to a large shopping mall, Braehead, and I'm sure many people would be pleased to go there rather than go home to start making a meal from scratch. The two burgers, fries and two soft drinks came to a total of under fifteen pounds. The burgers were delicious. Next time I might try the carvery as well as an ice cream.

We went last week and had a total disaster. Really poor service, poor food and a terrible experience. We complained to Charlie the manager who went to great lenght to make sure our next visit would be much better. We chanced another visit today and had a totally different experience. The food was much better, service improved and on the whole things were much better. It's an ok chain restaurant experience with reasonable food. I think Charlie the young manager will do well and is an asset to the company. I still think there is lots of improvement to be made in relation to quality control and staff training, however overall it was ok.

No offence but its not very often I get to go out without the kids so when I do I would rather not be sat next to a play section with other peoples kids, especially when there Is other seating available. Excellent place for food and drink, selling a wide range of dishes and beverages. There is a carvery available as well on a special offer and a kids menu is available too. They do have table service here and you are usually seated fairly quick although it can get very busy at weekends.

Similiar to other Carvery type pub places but no complaints. Prices are decent and there's a good assortment of meals, desserts and drinks. We went for the carvery which was a good deal (2 for £10) and it was pretty quiet on a weekday early evening. The cakes and puddings looks seriously yummy (although I was not won over by the one that contained yorkshire pudding!). Staff were helpful and friendly, and should you be lucky enough to get some sunshine there's outside seating.
