Reviews of Tennents Byres Rd Glasgow
A. C.
Due to the pandemic it has been a while since eating with there with mum & kept telling my partner how lovely the food is & finally got the chance to take him, he enjoyed his meal so much he wants to go back. I do love the new app. they have as you can add & take things off, unlike the Wetherspoons app. For example my partner does not like lettuce & you are given that option to have your burger with or without lettuce, same go for drinks ice or no ice, which surprised me too. The food is really great there & they do the most amazing chips ( light, fluffy & crispy). Can't wait to go back

Been going to Tennents for years now and tend to take it for granted that it’s an excellent pub. In yesterday, with my adult kids tagging along. Booked a table, which was ready when we arrived. Food was great, tremendous atmosphere (rugby was on) and service was excellent, as usual. See you soon !

Great pub. Always been a good atmosphere whenever I've been there. A decent selection of beers and friendly staff. A good place to have a few birthday beers makes me feel less bad about getting old!
R. F.
We had a works night out in the downstairs area. The food was delicious ,the DJ Andrew was fab but our bar person Chloe was top notch she was just so lovely, very efficient in dealing with all of us and a credit to the business. Thank you all for a fab night
P. C.
Tennent's is a pleasant enough bar. It has a large horse-shoe bar and plenty of daylight through large and double-aspect windows. It's clean and the staff are friendly.
However, despite a multiplicity of draught taps providing a wide range of English beers, it only has a single, token, Scottish ale on offer - the ubiquitous, though not unpleasant, Punk. Could do better!
M. G.
Great pub. Food and cocktails excellent but as with too many other glasgow bars women have to walk down into the cellar to go to the loo and even on a lovely day its freezing down there
P. M.
Great friendly bar staff enjoyed Sunday night quiz. Food was great too after few drinks.
J. M.
Excellent pub, good selection of drinks. Busy but no problems getting served
D. P. (.
A busy bar with a lively social craic. Wide selection of beers on hand pumps. Food was nicely cooked and well presented, with something for everyone.
P. G.
A proper, real life pub. Lots of sports on numerous big screen TV's. Nice food, friendly staff, huge variety of age groups, very reasonable prices.
M. R.
Good pint, decent service and table reservation worked out fine. Face masks were derigeur through the day but appeared very much optional as the night went on (likely an issue for most pubs though). Food was pretty good too. I'll be back.
D. N. M. T.
Staff are wonderful. Well run establishment. Can't wait to do a real karaoke night if the guys are up for it. 🎶🎶🎼🎶🎵
A. P.
Always good vibe in Tennents. Always seems busy so obviously very popular. Good bar staff and good beer selection. Although you should really drink Tennents in Tennents.
S. P.
An iconic West End pub. Old man's pub but with a wide demographic. So cheap for a round of drinks. Recommended.
j. m.
Always good to visit Tennents. Good crowd, friendly staff and a good range of beer. Great place to watch football and rugby
D. I.
Really great pub , one of my favourites
N. T.
Friendly staff great atmosphere love going here for lunch and strongly recommend the fish and chips
S. F. S.
Brilliant for football . Screens all round and the wee wifey behind the bar manages to turn kicking out time into a masterclass of how to firmly insult some people while others see it as brutal weegie banter.
S. B.
Went in for a catch up with my friend, had a few beers, place was friendly, good atmosphere, pub was clean and toilets was spotless.
V. P.
Simply awesome starters and good main courses. Make use of offers for pizza-drink and burger-drink combinations. Beers are good and reasonably priced. Vegetarian menu is a little bland though. Good seating capacity, and always some game is running on TV which gives it a lively atmosphere
Has a toilet, requires identification to enter (giving 4 stars because of the wildly stringent rules of needing physical identification of all members in a group, and disallowing a seat because one out of seven did not have a BRP, even though they had other IDs and digital copies ).
K. M.
Nice clean traditional bar and a great pint, if you want piece and quiet to have a conversation this is a good place to go with a friendly atmosphere
N. c.
Fantastic pub, great food at great prices, good clean toilets, fantastic staff highly recommend to anyone in the area
M. P.
Good old style pub. Didn't stay long so can't really comment on range of drinks or food but it was clean, sociable and had plenty of seating. Had sports on too
e. h.
Visited while on a weekend visit to Glasgow. Has been many years since it was our local.
Great pub & really friendly service. Much appreciated a member of staff running out to our taxi after I left my mobile behind :)
Highly recommended x
a. m.
Great place , decent tasty food and a good pint at a good price , always worth a visit
D. P.
Went for a meeting.bar staff are famtastic..this is best pub in westend.always has been.cheers
T. D.
An old fashioned pub with a fine collection of ales. The food on offer is now much smaller portions than previously, and of lower quality. Expensive. Popular but usually seats to be had. No music, lots of conversations going on!
J. Y.
Great pub and lovely food .
kevin is on the ball as prices are all the place.
Michelle is also switched on
A. L.
I used to enjoy popping into Tennent's for a pint ot two at a very reasonable price. The place was done up not too long before Covid 19 shut down all Pubs.Since the transformation, the prices have gone up by a good chunk.I actually liked the look of the old place better, and the prices too.
Still quite a good Pub to venture into though, with a good choice of different Beers and Spirits.
L. R.
Wonderful. One of the best ale pubs in Glasgow. 10 handpumps and all beer well kept. Friendly folk too.
D. G.
Excellent high quality food and drink at very reasonable proces.
R. J.
It was our best pub of the night in Glasgow. I had a nice pint of Wainwright's ale and the wife had a soku gin. Got talking to a couple of locals who gave us some info about shopping ( for the wife...lol ).
A great atmosphere.
A. W.
Excellent choice of beers and food was lovely.
R. W.
Great pub excellent service and friendly staff loved it.
J. U.
First time visit. Great atmosphere and nice surroundings!
j. t.
Went in for the amir Khan fight on a Saturday night and had a good time, the place has a very good selection of reasonably priced drinks, ales, beers, lagers, ciders, wines, gins and whiskey 🍻,very friendly customers and staff especially Lauren who is an absolute star, free WiFi and free function suite, I now go once or twice a week at least 👍
K. K.
Decent food. Nice service. Good value 👏
R. N.
Great pub realistic prices pleasant staff
S.
Not been in for years pleasantly surprised looking good nice friendly staff😀
g. g.

A. H.
Excellent pint. Reasonably priced too
N. C.
Very friendly staff, large beer selection, and good food all at an easily affordable price, enjoyed visit will come again
A. H.
Great Bar with a good selection of beers, wines and spirits. Add in the helpful and cheery staff and you have the best pub in the West end.
M. M.
Great location, good prices, good food, nice staff, good selection of drinks. Lots of reasonable deals for food and drinks as well. Highly recommended.
D. M.
Modern old pub.
Standing or sitting is an option both good choices.
Cool and friendly staff.
A West End of Glasgow pleasent vibe.
D. R.
Great beers, always a good atmosphere, friendly staff. Highly recommended.
T. G.
Fantastic spot for a cold one or a good whisky. This place has lots of character and its been around for ages. It's the most traditional Scottish pub you could ever imagine. The place gets crowded, and quite loud in the evening. The amazing thing though is, it's filled with people's chatter, rather than some loud music. You won't see people playing with their phones here, they come to talk and drink, and enjoy the moment - soaking up the atmosphere of a traditional pub, like they've done for centuries, before technology came along. You can really feel the history in this place. Especially when you talk to some of the locals. If you come to Glasgow, I recommend you find the time on a rainy evening, and come here for a few drinks. It's worth it.
M. M.
Never disappointed, food good, staff very helpful and lovely atmosphere
J. C.
New makeover has taken something away from the atmosphere.
J. L.
Old school boozer. Drink good enough, food out of the freezer via a microwave straight to your plate. Went when it was quiet but imagine it could get busy and rowdy!
L. C.
Nice, reasonably priced pub, always busy.
j.
what a little friendly belter with mucho going on and room for dogs 🐕 😍
D. C.
Look, I know this pub is not open at the moment but when it is, it is one of the best in the west end.. there is always a great atmosphere and a real good mix of customers young old and some of your more flamboyant types.. I'll name drop just this once....and I'll say it quietly....( Neil Lennon ) drinks here now and then...and also some other well known faces.,great staff and a really good pint as well as an assortment of other drinks on offer....if you don't enjoy it you must be very hard to please...next time you are in the west end give it a try and tell me I'm wrong ..I dare you...have fun and enjoy.... Cheers....
P. H.
Lovely food and still doing eat out to help out, so great value for money. Very friendly staff, get yerself along and enjoy. If this is successful it may become the norm. Deffo going back next week.
R. J.
Good selection wine good pub grub, real ale at very reasonable prices; keep on keeping on . You do nothing wrong.Get Deli crisps it will be"perfick". An institution, but who wants to be in one..Open with chairs outside..No Bad Dog here.Good selection Real Ale@realistic prices.
A. L.
Best bar in town. We will come back as soon as posibble, than we will be beer profs shortly.
C. S.
Great food great place to stay and get a fine beer
r. s.
Great food and reasonably priced drinks. Staff are friendly ndd helpful.
J. M.
Nothing great. Big pub with multiple TV's. Good for sport. Prices average. Pub grub.
J. N.
It was late morning/early afternoon only stopped off for a rest and cold drink ,looked clean enough and barman was very nice
N. D.
This pub has been on Byres Rd for many years. It's very busy when football and rugby are on, but there's always a good atmosphere. Food is served, although it's the usual pub grub. Staff are always quick and sharp to attend to customers, and very pleasant towards tourists. Plus the fact, it's one of the cheapest pubs in the west end.
B. M.
Can't beat a pint here - this is what a pub should be.
m. n.
Was one of the last classic Traditional Pubs. Famous for its old style bar and gantry. Sadly being refurbished into just another plastic corporate pub. Will look like a clone of the thousands of other corporate pubs up and down the country. What a waste of a classic pub.
D. C.
Really good pub. Large choice of beers with a very good menu. Food and drink were inexpensive. Certain amount of history attached to the pub. We are reliably informed that this was the last pub in Glasgow to allow women inside!
b.
Cracking pub with an extensive selection of drink and delicious food. However incompetent staff serving today the 18/12/2019 can't tell the difference between an 18 year old and a 30 year old. Poorly trained staff if you fail to enforce challenge 25.
T. K.
Great pub on Byres road. Great selection of craft ales. About a dozen of which 5/6 are permanent and the rest rotated about every 2 weeks. Does the usual Tennents and Stella as well. Good selection of whisky and wine. Good number of large screens for watching sports.
G. A.
We stopped here for lunch, the bar was very busy because Celtic were playing but they have a room to the side where you can eat quietly.
The food was really nice and I would recommend it. The only downside was that you can see the guys standing at the toilet when the restroom door opens.
S. m.
not been in here in years and by the pics shown wont be back
A. M.
Old man pub that's dog friendly, cheap and cheerful. Always a smile from the folk behind the bar, drinkers happy to share tables and food that's wholesome. I absolutely love coming here and my dog Winston always gets a treat and a bowl of water too.
R. T.
I love the foood! One of the best in west end. I thought they just have tennents, but no. They have everything.
S. P.
Great atmosphere with drinks at a great price
J. B.
Great traditional bar good service manager said hello as we entered and cherrio when we left I liked that nice atmosphere
W. R.
Excellent pint and food. Staff are fantastic.
Great pub
L. S.
Very traditional pub. Football and cricket on the tellies. Friendly people to engage in conversation. Was strictly a pub for males until the 1970s when women chained themselves to the bar. Since women have the managers. Near a sightseeing hop on hop off bus stop.
A. S.
Good atmosphere and a good Pint
T. W.
Great food. Friendly atmosphere. Neat history.
D. M.
Tennent's is a historic Glasgow West End pub. The staff are hand-picked and of the highest quality and the bar itself is highly decorated and quite unique. Excellent food is available and a superb selection of craft beers. It is quite simply one of the best pubs in the country.
N. S.
Superb company and excellent atmosphere.
The bar staff are one of the friendliest teams I've ever had the privilege of knowing.
"Expensive "???
No way!!
Excellent value for money and a brilliant venue for a friendly pint
F. K.
My favourite West End bar and one I keep returning to even if I have now moved away from the City. Ideal for Jags games. Good, solid, traditional Glasgow pub. Key for me is the excellent range of real ales Landlord being my favourite. Hats off to the Cellar Man or Woman for the condition of the beer. The West End is a special place and Tennent's has its rightful place in a good night out, followed by a trip to the Ashoka or the Chip. Customer service is quick and knowledgeable so always a pleasure to deal with the staff. Keep doing the right things folks. It is much appreciated. Aye. Fraser.
J. S.
Nice big pub, airy and plenty of space. Food was good too
R. S.
A West End institution. a real Glasgow bar. Great atmosphere, good selection of beers and spirits (at a great price). What's not to like. And great pub food. Also TV Sport for those who like that, without it dominating.
G. G.
Fairly average pub located on Byers Road in Glasgow's West End. It's recently had a bit of a makeover but nothing major.
Was quite busy and it's not a big place so standing room only when we were in.
Usual selection of beers and spirits and plenty of screens to watch sports if that's your thing.
It does a selection of pub food but don't know what they serve as I only seen menus on the tables.
D. M.
Great pub, visited with my wife and son. Very professional and efficient system for dealing with COVID. Good selection of drinks and friendly staff.
t.
nicely refitted and a classic west end pub. neutral football venue and inexpensive
D. C.
Had a lively Plum Porter, beautiful
R. N.
nice cider - but did't have any martell brandy - it's a greater atmosphere with lots of people watching the man city match. its busy but peaceful. - i sat and enjoyed my drink and every so often looked up from my phone to check the score - what more can you ask for?
D. M.
A pretty good bar, cheap prices and good food can get rather busy at weekends
The only Downsides are that quite often when I have been in, some of the female staff moan and complain about work and are happy to tell and entertain the punters about the politics in this pub.
L. F. A.
(So it means you overcharged me? I paid 12£ for 2 beers. That's actually offensive) The bar is nice, but the beer is too expensive. I paid 6 pounds for a Tennent which is too much compared with other bars close to that area. The food is OK, 9 pounds for two dishes is a good deal. There is a room where you can sit and eat or you can just stay standing close to there bar.
G. G.
Tonight for the umpteeth time I have ruined a pair of expensive stockings on the seating. The tacked town fabric catches on tights, stockings and fine fabric. I was once in there when a man went crazy as he had ruined his suit trousers on the cheap seating. Otherwise the drink, food and staff are first class.
I told a staff member who seemed totally disinterested in my complaint !
r. o.
Great boozer great food drinks and a cracking atmosphere, still superb
R. C.
I watched the ENGvTUN game here in the World Cup. Needless to say there was a lot of 'Tunisia' fans in that night. They were well behaved :)
Staff were excellent and it's a nice bar but the food was pretty feeble. Shame.
J. C.
Booked a seat to watch the Lions game and it was great! Good atmosphere, good prices and a great night out.
S. G.
The newly refurbished Tennents, still like the old one... Except the women's toilets are now downstairs but the kitchen looks bigger, making the food taste a lot better!! New tellys to watch Partick Thistle on! A new entrance from the upstairs bar to help you get to the bar downstairs, intimate and functional. The staff are still all very helpful and knowledgeable about the beers, but I think they've got rid of a couple of pumps Definitely recommended.
N. S.
Nice wee bat, friendly and quick service and good crack. Plus decent screens and that for sport.
J. P.
I really like this bar as received good value for money. My wife and I took my sister in law and brother in law for lunch there and had a good day. The only dissapointing issue I had was that I ordered a bottle of red wine from the wine list which stated it was 13.5% vol but when it was put on the table the bottle stated it was 12.5% vol. ( the bottle was opened but the menu was wrong). I asked if other wines were available at 13.5% and that I would pay any extra in price and the barman said they had no other red wine availabless specifically the dearer one I stated. I then asked a different member of staff what wine was available at 13.5 % vol and she advised that all wines I required was available and she resolved the issue. I must say I was disappointed that this issue occurred in presence of my in laws. Thanks to the barmaid who resolved the issue. Hope the wine list has been updated.
Hope to return to Tennents Bar.
S. H.
Great real ale pub! Has varied types of beer available and all are good. I love this place for its vibe that is given through years of work.
G. B.
Loved sitting at the window watching the Glasgow World go by.. 🚶♂️ good pint as well
G. B. D.
Cool old bar. Great place to stop and chat
A. N.
Average pub in Glasgow did not like the layout of the pub. The atmosphere was a bit flat not my cup of tea we had our drink then left.
b. a.
Great beer Good pub
A. N.
Great traditional bar, staff always friendly & efficient at the bar. Good selection of drinks, at good prices. Plenty TVs showing various sports. Always has a great atmosphere with a nice mixed crowd.
M.
Great atmosphere for all age groups. Many tvs for live sport. Good staff and reasonably priced for the West End.
l. o.
One of the best pubs in glasgow. fantastic gantry hood selection of beers/ales/lagers, wines & spirts etc. Been here many times, always a great atmosphere & staff really friendly. give it a visit, you might even see the odd wee famous face here too.....
R. M.
Super friendly staff and really helpful. They generally cannot do enough for you. The pub has been painted recently and has really helped. Always sport on the many TV's creating a cracking atmosphere
B. F.
We visit this pub often. It's one of the best in Glasgow. The staff are great, they have quite a few tellies if you want to catch up with the fitba scores and the Wee T is a room, popular with students, where you can get away from the bustle of the main area. Best of all, they have a good selection of cask ales. Tennents also serve food throughout the day and both food & drink are reasonably cheap.
S. H.
We went in and it was rammed! Rugby on one screen, football on the other. Great atmosphere and a decent pint. Only marked it down because it was that busy it took an age to get to the bar
b. w.
Always a pleasure to visit this excellent real ale bar, just a shame about the lack of choice due to delivery problems.
L. P.
Good traditional pub with a good selection of beers. Always a good atmosphere and usually showing sport. This isn't for people who wanf fancy dining or cocktails. Well priced too.
A. R.
Friendly pub. Covid protocol followed by staff.
M. R.
Great old fashioned Glasgow bar in the West End of the City. Plenty of locals to talk to and a decent atmosphere. Plenty of ales to try and staff know there drinks to try depending on your mood.
N. K.
Nice bar, decent prices for the area, but can be quite crowded if you go at peak times, so don't expect a seat at half 9 on a Friday. Also, as a sort of sports bar, that's all there'll be on the, admittedly many and good quality TVs strewn around the bar.
C. M.
Good selection of real ale and other beer.
L. G.
A proper PUB in an area of student bars.
Extensive selection of real ale and lovely atmosphere.
The perfect place to go during the zombie apocalypse, while you wait for it all to blow over.
S. A.
Historic pub. Nice atmosphere. Friendly helpful staff. Good food, priced very well. Always a quality pint of Tennents.
G. C.
Good bar. Amazing Champions league final. Atmosphere was buzzing. They let too many people in but it was a great night.
P. W.
Great bar. A real slice of Glasgow and a great range of real ales and lagers. Very busy on match days so not a place for a quiet pint on those days
M.

A. I.
Lovely big and airy pub
T. S. Q.
Authentic Scottish pub. You can find traditional dishes, local wiskys, local people in there. Good to see sports or chill any time eating or only with a beer, alone in group
J. C.
Brilliant beer. Great food. quick service
M. J.
Always a decent beer selection and reasonable prices. Could always do with more places to sit but on the whole a great classic pub with outstanding beer choice

As always the character remains the same after the refurbishment. Food was great. Please check the cubicles in the gents and sort the toilet roll.
C. W.
Glasgow classic. You want old men staring into their pints like it's loves lost dream? Good service and any sport you can shake your first at on telly. Boom

A. M.
Staff where nice but was very cold. Panini not the best but natchos where lovely
B. M.
Nice staff but a bit slow
A. M.
An institution in the Westend this bar is down to earth and great value for drinks. An eclectic mix of people can be found here & it's often a very entertaining venue
N. M.
It's upon one of the only bars in Glasgow that has kept it's olde look and feel (traditional). Great service, no hassle people are always kind and chatty.
g. m.
Fantastic bar, great staff, great inexpensive food, great atmosphere, brilliant selection of beers and real ales, what's not to love about the place, also very dog friendly, my wee Baxter looks forward to his visits👍

Went in for food with my wee girl and it was lovely and staff were friendly. Cracking pub will definitely go back again
B. M.
Been an age since I'd been in here, pleasantly surprised at the selection of real ales including Thornbridge Jaipur as a guest. Very busy with tourists, I assume one of the tour guide books most were holding recommends it!
J. M. N.
Tenants is permanent fixture in the west end of Glasgow. Here you get a taste of the essence of the city. A down to earth banter-filled bar with a friendly stimulating atmosphere.
K. L.
A brilliant bar to quoff some outstanding ales, I had a particularly tasty ale called Knee-buckler. I urge all ale lovers to go and sample their wide range of ales.
D. M.
Live this place! Great food, great atmosphere, & made very welcome! 🙂👍
S. M.
Quick service, with an excellent pint of the eponymous amber nectar...

b. p.
Great couple of hours.well laid out..food good and staff really nice
T.
Staff.are always on the ball and it's service with a smile, reasonably priced too.
C. B.
This is your kind of traditional pub, it's alright and lively, just a bit bright and lacking of music and general atmosphere.
C. H.
Very busy as it was a couple of days before Xmas, but service was still very good. Not much room to move though I did manage to get my wife in on her wheelchair.
J. H.
Solid pub with a good selection of beer. Food was better than expected too; nothing groundbreaking but not bad at all
K.
Great spot for food and pints
D. G.
Tennent's has always been one of my favourite pubs in Byres Road, always lovely staff & great Clientele of customers
Y. S.
One word; sizzling breakfast!
OK that's two but this is the place I go when I want to get stuffed without the need to sell a kidney to do so. I enjoy the atmosphere of this place a lot.

Hired the Basement for a work party. Great space with booths and standing room. Private entrance and restrooms. Bar service was good, buffet was great.
G. R.
