Reviews of The Brown Bull
E. T.
Amazing wee pub with plenty of cask ale on offer. A really cosy bar with a great atmosphere and big fireplace in the corner. Can see many lively evenings huddled around the hearth in the winter. It also has a beer garden that gets sun most of the day.
J. K.
Very friendly family run bar with a lovely eclectic beer garden and a great choice of real ales. Always a nice warm atmosphere with a woodburnig stove. I love this pub

We entered the Brown Bull on a rainy Thursday afternoon.
We parked our motorhome on the castle semple car park and went for a walk and a drink and found Laura at the Brown Bull.
Warm stove, nice music and a very lovely smile.... and something to drink.
A lovely place, only since 29 years. Go there, you will not be disappointed.

The beer garden is a bizarre selection of recycled and home made nicknacks and a really cool place to sit and enjoy your dtinks

Excellent pub. A proper pub. Cask ales, real fire, dark wood, friendly welcome, stone walls and the best beer garden in Scotland.
R. R.

Good beers and whiskies. Fair prices.

Food was tasty and came out quickly, but maybe a bit on the pricey side. Staff were helpful, good atmosphere

This pub is managing to produce both food and drink at a very high standard whilst keeping them affordable. The bartender was friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much for her and she remained constantly good humoured. Excellent, deserving of its awards.
C. M.

Really lovely welcoming pub. Very impressed with the vegetarian options - had the tastiest bean stew I really couldn't fault any of the meal. Friendly and attentive services without feeling harassed. Dog friendly too - recommend fully.

Gigging here last night was a complete joy. A really quaint, old fashioned pub which is 210 years old. Yep,as old as the blues itself. Lochwinnoch is a quiet typical little Scottish haven where you will receive a friendly welcome at the Brown Bull from the lovely Laura and her staff. It may not be a modern fancy place but boy!! does it have character.

This was a good find after a visit to the RSPB. From the outside the Brown Bull looked an inviting and quaint pub and once inside, the initial impression was confirmed. Traditional wooden floor, welcoming bar and cosy ambience overall. Friendly staff and good selection of drinks. Although we didn't have a meal, the food looked great, fresh and tasty. Looking forward to another visit.

Really good food. All freshly cooked and well seasoned. Fish was delicious, perfectly cooked, with a great crispy batter. Burgers were juicy and really good flavour. Fantastic value too
A. O.
Great service with a friendly welcome. Excellent rotation of craft beers and high quality pub food. Visited after a cold walk in Castle Semple park, the Brown Bull was a great way to finish the afternoon.
l. h.
Great friendly pub with excellent selection of cask ales. Make sure to visit quirky Beer Garden.
S. C.
Great wee local. Pub everyone very friendly and always good device and chat. A great place to spend an afternoon or evening .
P. M.
Best belly dancing club in Renfrewshire. I had the steak and shrimp tacos washed down with a Bud light lime. My only criticism of the place was the bare knuckle boxing match happening in the beer garden between the ghosts of Apollo Creed and Ivan Dragov. Excellent door and window placements. The Landlady Laura makes all the beer by hand.
J. G.
Absolutely brilliant pub, the owner Laura is super friendly and a great host. The bar menu is fantastic but where the place really shines is the upstairs menu at the weekends. A hidden gem, do not miss!
m. c.
The Brown Bull is a FANTASTIC pub. Fine hospitality. Great ales and beers and spirits and wines. The restaurant is TOP CLASS. Great staff and a great chef. Myself and Tessie HIGHLY recommend the pub.

A great village pub with fireplace, warm atmosphere, dog friendly and has ales that some may enjoy. Tennent's on draft. The staff are a right odd lot but seem friendly and mostly harmless.

I've been coming to this pub for over seven years and it's one of my favourite places in Scotland. Last visit was excellent, the food was delicious and I'm really glad to see that improve over the years!

Was made to feel very welcome on our special day. The vegan options were good and the food was delectable! Thank you so much!
K. M.
Small pub with a big beer garden at the rear. Dogs welcome.
M. W.
Real Ale oasis which is now more of a pub than a restaurant. Music a bit loud but otherwise excellent. Barman could maybe learn to smile though.
B. d.
The place is just fantastic!! Lovely staff, you must visit for either food or a drink!
P. C.
