Reviews of The Crystal Palace - JD Wetherspoon
M. d.
Was really busy but expected that on a sat afternoon but got table within minutes and the service was fast
Ordered through app and drinks at table in minutes food15min
Never expect much from pub grub steaks but really surprised how good it was and cooked how I ordered.
No one had bad word to say and bill was very reasonable also.
Great cheap n cheerful lunch what expect from a wetherspoons
G. M.
Went here for tea with wife and parents, decent seats upstairs at window, great atmosphere in pub for a Tuesday evening, alcoholic drink with every meal, under 10 pounds per head, 😀 food was cooked well and tasted good 3 of us having fish chips and peas i had bread andbutterwith mine only got 1 tub of butter for 2 slices, and one spicy chicken strips with a bbq jd sauce nice and tangy, had 3 drinks each plus a woo woo cocktail and a zombie cocktail, although cheap tasted good zombie was better, 1 bad thing was a fork that hadn't seen soap for a while, would ho back here again ordered everything through the app drinks and food at table in no time good service good staff.
W. R.
This pub is a very vast area with many seats available. However, the toilet need some TLC, especially in this day and age of coronavirus, you'd think that there will be consistent cleaning of the toilet. It was disgusting to see all these used toilet rolls damp in the sink and you're in all on the floor.
C. G.
Great experience here on a recent visit to Glasgow. As you’d expect for a Wetherspoon’s the food is decent and relatively cheap. Compared with other places we had had a drink at , this place was far cheaper. In fact we stayed on after our meal and had a few more drinks seeing as it was our last night in the city. It was a Monday evening, so was fairly quiet. Seemed clean and service was quick.
A. L.
Easy to get to. Prompt seated, and great service from the waitress. Food was served quickly, well cooked. The ham and eggs particularly well done, and the portion size just right.
Great place for a reasonable bite at the start of a nigjt out in Glasgow.
C. A.
Intriguing venue that is less busy usually compared to other pubs in the vicinity.
Spent time with my mate for lunch there on a matchday weekend and there was only outdoor seating available.
Still as always, staff tried best and it was a good experience despite how busy everything was.
Got the 3 small plates deal for 2 as well, and ordering online went without a jiffy!
B. B.
Very average Spoons. Has one interesting feature that it has one of (if not the oldest) installations of lifts (elevators) in the UK. Made headlines a few years ago when some punters got stuck in it...
Overall quite dirty, tables not cleared and covered in drink and the last guest's glasses. The proper Spoons experience here - be prepared to clear your own table. A good thing is it's so big with multiple floors you're (almost) guaranteed to find a table if you're by yourself or just a few of you.
Served fast though through the app with free decent Wi-Fi and food + pint (although my Corona was in a generic glass with a slice of lime in the beer) was good and friendly staff.
Toilets were large and clean enough.
Usually my go-to in Glasgow before a gig at the O2 Academy or Hydro as the Sir John Moore/Counting House is usually packed
K. S.
Great food & drink selection. Friendly staff. 👍
T. A.
Nice atmosphere during the weekday. Sat upstairs which is a vast open area with its own Bar. Service speed was quick for drinks but very slow for food. Temperature of the upstairs was nice without being too hot. One out of two coffee machines were operational. The toilets needed work - smelly although there was an air freshener but placing it next to an extractor fan was probably very silly. Water pressure at the taps were out of control so avoid unless you want to be explaining to people about your wet patch for an hour or two. Staff seemed pleasant and one of few wetherspoons venues to actually adhere to requests such as no ice/fruit and requesting a straw with the order. Can't comment on weekends although having walked past it looks incredibly busy at weekends although for the middle of Glasgow thats not surprising.
S. A.
Wetherspoons is always a great place to go for a drink and or a meal at very sensible low prices.
The menu gives you plenty of choices and great offers including drinks with the cost of a meal.
Staff are always very friendly and helpful.
F. G.
Handy place decent food at a good price. Close to central train station. The hot N spicy chicken was great and the drink prices can't be beaten for a city bar.
K. W.
Very popular as the alcohol cheaper than most places. Our food wasn't warm enough and another customer said her steak was full of fat. No toilet roll in toilet plus toilet pan not clean.
A. D.
There food is delicious however its hard to find seats on a Saturday night! I was also very sad to hear that the zombie was out of stock still’ even though i had went 3 Saturdays in a row for my favourite drink!
T. L.
Ive only given this 4 star, not because of the service, which was excellent but because of the appearance . The food was nice and the staff were friendly. The prices of drinks were reasonable. It just needs a makeover.
.
M. L.
Great atmosphere and drink selection; food is fairly good though the pasta tasted and had the texture of potentially being microwaved. Still a pleasant experience.
P. J.
Stayed in hotel fown the road for 3 nights with work. This was my go to establishment for evening meal.
No nonsense, reasonably prices scran. No complaints.
1 star dropped as my colleague asked for a copy of his receipt (for expenses claim) that never materialised.
J. S.
Good cheap breakfast, could have been warmer
C. P.
Nice spacious pub very friendly staff and quick service I love the upstairs seating area plenty of room and good view of city centre and definitely my favourite stop off whenever I'm in Glasgow
I. L.
Food was good, had a lovely pasta. Would have preferred fresh orange juice. Table was dirty and sticky.
M. W.
Food brilliant. Service a bit slow but it was very busy and the server did apologise. Definitely be back
C. M.
Pretty good place. The insides are not as pretty as the one in the city centre but it's not a problem. Has plenty of tables.
J. M.
I enjoyed the food the beer was nice and cooled a good experience I'd go again in a minute
D. C.
Been here a few times for drinks and a meal and it is very good chilled out pub. Definitely be back soon 😊😊😊
A. W.
I'm not really a JDW loyalist and have never had a breakfast there but I was pleasantly surprised. Ordering via the app (didn't have it in installed but got it downloaded, registered and running before my wife had decided from the menu) was easy and food arrived very quickly and was spot-on. Coffee machine a little annoying (it did the milk too fluffy for a flat white - yep, first world problems I know) but you can't complain at free refills for £1.20. All considered, definitely great VFM and I would go again.
N. R.
Great atmosphere and good staff. Table service is extremely fast paced. They haven't had creamy peppercorn sauce in months however and that is a big let down.
s. b.
It’s a spoons so not much to say.
Food was good especially the dessert and the Guinness was cold.
Idea stop off for the station
P. C.
Great value for money on days when you want a chill place for getting drunk. Really had a nice time on our last evening in Glasgow
J. O.
On the High Street not too far from the Central Station (Train) and a walking distance to the Ricer Clyde.
Staff are welcome, easy to order food and drink in a Covid safe environment.
Food menu is okay, standard pub meals.
Card or contactless payment accepted. Paid Parking opposite - NCP.
H. M.
Service was good and really quick. Breakfast was pretty cold. I've had dinner here before and that was pretty good though
A.
Always quick service, especially during our most recent visit (on a Saturday night), as we found a table almost immediately and our drinks arrived about 10 minutes after ordering them through the app.
B. M.
Used soiled napkins littering the floor, tables dirty , had to ask to have them cleaned down, however nice staff and fish was enjoyable lots of room for improvement.
j.
Usually good food, fast service , cheap drinks. Rice was Burnt once though so occasionally a hit and miss. Delicious cookie dough ice cream sandwich
A. D.
Popped in for a beer. Spoons prices.
Outside area on main street with tables and chairs but quite noisy if you are looking for relaxing conversation.
J. S.
This place was very clean and tidy staff were very helpful also and the food and drink prices were excellent will go back there again when I'm back there
T. M.
Great value for money and services was great even though they were busy didn't have long to wait for meal 🙄😃
r. k.
Once again got my Budweiser on tap sat upstairs lots of families and groups of people eating I had my favourite bbq chicken pizza with a pint of Budweiser say no more the staff were very friendly as well.
S. M.
Lovely place, but expect a long wait from drink orders as staff are overwhelmed and understaffed on Friday/Saturdays
S. T.
Service ok but my chair was broken and felt a bit claustrophobic as so busy, even on a Thursday afternoon. I like it but not my favourite Spoons experience
S. C.
Excellent place to eat the food and drinks in that pub. The food and beverage (hot and cold) are very good price.
P. D.
Central Wetherspoons pub, can get busy. Mixed bag of people, from tourists to locals, to oldies and youngsters.
Works well. Good value for a city centre pub. All housed in a very historical and ornate building... Worth a try, just maybe to get your own experience?
A. R.
Decent pub grub. Not too bad prices.
B. M.
Nice enough but ordered on App, could see the drinks being made and put on a tray, then watched 3 staff have a 5 minute chat before one brought them over when I stood up.
A. B.
Decent Wetherspoons, not as busy as city Central ones but close to Glasgow Central if you like to avoid the other crowded Spoons
K. B.
Food prices were very reasonable. Nice place to sit and chat.
K. P.
Loved the building outside & in
Toilets ok as well as Sir John More Wetherspoons toilets are a disgrace they stink of mold
Crystal palace is so much a better pub
M. K.
Good boozer for cheap drink and food but good standards. Highly recommend for what it is in the centre of Glasgow
I. M.
Food was good but not very warm. Otherwise a good experience 😌
M. P.
Excellent atmosphere and staff, great night out! :)
M. L.
It's a Wetherspoons so please read the rating understanding that. It is by far the best 'spoons in Glasgow in my opinion. Walked past 3 others to get to this one tonight. Food exactly the same as the others but a much better real ale selection. Very pretty too, with all the crystal chandeliers. If you want a 'spoons in Glasgow, check this one out.
S. Q.
Decent service but the table hadn't been cleared when we sat down
K. B.
Ok meal quite busy inexpensive food
D. H.
What you would expect. Good choice of beers, food that is acceptable and reasonably priced.
E. M.
Service was quick, but tables could have done with a good clean.
I. H.
Came in here the morning after going to a gig at the nearby classic grand. Staff were very friendly, food was good, nothing exceptional but for the price you definitely can't complain. I had the large Scottish breakfast with the added haggis and my girlfriend had the regular Scottish breakfast. She had asked for a hard egg yolk which came out as asked. We had popped in the night before but was very busy as expected for a Friday night but I witnessed no trouble. The toilets were clean and the place has lots of seating and a big bar. One entrance is wheelchair friendly the other has a few steps. The building inside and out is amazing and on the front of the food menu is a short but interesting piece of history of the building. Am back in Glasgow in April for another gig so will be returning!
R. J.
It's old Spoonie's; great value, for tourists, don't dwell eat up, very busy, up stairs quieter. To avoid Yahoo's, spread out, plenty space. But seriously where would we be without them, so goodbye and thank you for all the fish.Upstairs social distance, bags of room.Tables outside, open again inside.
C. E.
Should be viewed from outside looks fabulous. Inside standard decent Wetherspoon
L. M.
Had a lovely meal and drinks here today. Staff were very nice and friendly.
Visited the ladies to find toilet seats all lying ski wiff and I almost fell off one. Toilets were messy
U. M. G.
Did not realise there were that many Wetherspoons in Glasgow. Not my favourite one, but still plenty of beers to choose from and cozy place.
d. h.
Another great Weatherspoons pub. Great food and drink beer ,ale cider promoth6 this month check out the offers.
J. H.
Very good and friendly service also great and atmosphere is superb. Also the fish chips mushy peas is brilliant nice and hot all the time. There is not much more to add fish and chips mushy peas are gr8
P. L. (.
Very good choice of beer
B. F.
Wetherspoons pub in Glasgow city centre
Not one of the better ones
Despite not being busy food orders were late and cold
S. S.
Very busy but prompt service for food and drink when ordered through the App
a. s.
Had a great night. All drink reasonably priced - this is my first port of call when I'm in the town...
j. C.
Amazing place, amazing staff on our works night out after cop26 shifts and we all felt relaxed and welcome and the bouncer was very pleasant.
Definitely 5 stars for me
B. L.
One of the young boy staff was a bit abrupt when he asked our company to drink up saying you have two minutes to do so or I will take them from you.
C. S.
Visiting glasgow from Leeds and of course had to stop by a Wetherspoons. Fairly quick service for the most part and me and my mate had a class evening. Only downside was we ordered a portion of chicken bites on the app, advertised with soy sauce, came with a white sauce of which we were not sure what it was. We assume they ran out of soy sauce (could tell us and ask if we would prefer an alternative?) Mate tried it and said it was garlic, which was fine and we ate it and enjoyed. Ordered another portion to share about an hour later and came with a very similar looking white sauce. I had some with my chicken and nearly threw up, made me feel physically sick. I asked the waitress when I finally managed to get her attention what the sauce was, she shrugged and said probably garlic but I don’t know? I said it definitely wasn’t garlic it tasted completely different from the last sauce. She proceeded to shrug and walk away, not happy with the way she dealt with the matter, felt very brushed off and as if she didn’t care. Luckily we don’t have allergies but if we did and we were under the impression it was something else it could’ve ended badly? Think they should know what they’re serving you before bringing it out. And staff should be more accommodating to customers. Other than that had a really good night, would probably go back, just take more caution with the food.
m. d.
Great place for a drink when in Glasgow very busy
D. E.
Nice spoons good service and well stocked. Still has hand gel but they were not enforcing track trace as they should and were not cleaning tables down between customers .
D. M.
It's a spoonies, busy, noisy, beer cheap and good ok.
I always think of spoonies like McDonald's, you know what to expect whichever pub you visit
W. B.
It's a good place to meet up. Food & drink are cheaper than other pubs. But it does get very crowded at the weekend and you can wait a while to get served at the bar. Food is usually good.
D. M.
Its a good size so even though its full you dont feel crammed in. Its a wethespoons so prices are all about the same. Its a good atmosphere inside and i have never seen any trouble. The bar staff and the security seem very friendly too. All in all its not a bad place for a pint
C. M.
Always a great rendezvous point for friends. No football colours allowed 😁
P. T.
Breakfast at spoons is quick, delicious and cheap... Toast with marmalade and refillable latte £3.15
This wetherspoons was quite busy at 11am. Convenient, just off Argyle Street, around the corner from Glasgow Central rail station. 💜💜💜
D. C.
Very pleasant staff well priced drinks but the smelliest gents I have ever been in. They could be doing with a cleaning rota to increase hygiene standards.
K. J. M.
The food was nice. But it was really cold. I think they need to put on a the heating
s. m.
Great place to eat, drink and meet friends. Can be very busy at times but if you have the Wetherspoons app it's a good queue jumper and you get served quicker. Great selection of food and drinks all set in a good atmosphere and comfy setting. Located centrally and close to Central station.
g. H.
Had chicken strips with fries and both were cooked to perfection
C. B.
Love wetherspoons great wee place , good food
J. M.
Good pub, friendly staff, reasonable prices and great daily offers.
I. T.
Great bar with a good range of drinks including real ales. Wide variety of food available at reasonable prices.
K. W.
Food as always delicious, staff members polite, friendly and helpful, no booking in advance needed so thats perfect during the "plandemic", you just show up and if there is table for you available you will be seated. Other places- unfortunately needs booking in advance and of the party size is bigger than 5 - they will need you card details. Wheterspoons winning so far. Selection of beers and alcohol however there is a big negative - for me- I like my whisky without the mixer and you can't order that on the app - so upsetting. Overall -great place, atmosphere 👌
w. m.
Always a decent breakfast here and new coffee machine (unlimited refills) is good. Can’t really fault it, good value for money.
A. S.
Really quiet place and they really do a good job with social distancing and table service...
J. R.
Great staff, lovely old building, nice food at great prices.
D. S.
It's a spoons pub in the middle of Glasgow.... Decent enough for a cheap pint 😂
T. N.
Good pub to meet up and start your night.
M. H.
Went in, greeted by someone at the desk, checked in, and within 5 minutes someone came to the table to take our order. Full credit to the guys for standing firm and refusing people who were in groups bigger than 6. Not normally a Spoons fan but these guys have got it sorted!
c. f.
Good food great price drinks
B. d.
Typical spoons!! Cheap & cheerful. Poor staff run off their feet, place was mobbed.
S. H.
It was ok, it's a Spoons pub. Staff friendly enough. Food was good, mine anyway. Liz had the veggie burger, which she said was dry. A bit dark, could do with a freshen up. Apart from that, good enough, cheap and cheerful
N. C.
Standard weatherponns. Food and drink as expected, but could not understand a word the staff were saying... Jokes 😉
R. a. M.
Wee breakfast after my partners birthday weekend with friends, no issues or delays all good ❤️
M. D.
Food is good for reletivly cheap prices and service very good.
I. C.
Service good food acceptable could have been a little bit warmer
W. M.
Can be quite busy but they do pretty well in spite of it
C. M.
Luv the place 🤗 foods Gr8 & drinks r very reasonable, & staff r luvly 😉
D. M.
Just a usual Wetherspoons. Great prices. Average food if that's your thing.
A. S.
Convenient pub for public transport in centre of Glasgow. Real ales and food available
L. M.
Usually very busy place,(ie pre covid)less busy now and an even better experience.Well done to staff
R. G.
Staff friendly as are door staff, excellent central location and prices are very reasonable. A good atmosphere for a nice evening out.
G. G.
Good pub with good ales at reasonable prices
A. M.
It's good value, but fairly basic fare.
R. A. R.
An OK pub for meeting friends but service is so slow. 🙃🙃🙃
C. D.
Stopped in for one during the wetherspoons ale festival. Selection wasn't the greatest, pretty much just the staples, apart from one. Nice place though, would visit again
r. f.
One of the best witherspoon for quick service and good value food!excellent staff, packed out one night while I was there!my order went in on app!10 min ?later on my table!excellent!congratulations to all staff who work there!highly recommend!
B. N.
Typical weatherspoons great prices for drink! food is average
C. B. C.
Ok food very reasonable prices
S. K.
Lively pub in the center of Glasgow. It's the usual cheap & cheerful Spoons.
K. K.
Cheap Cheerful and good range of beer! Scored a few BrewDog Elvis Juice! BrewDog themselves didn't even have it 🍻
D. C.
Great food, great drink, best prices in Glasgow!
e. m.
Food was lovely. Cheap and cheerful
C. B.
Still one of my fav spoons, flying visit today, but left satisfied, thank you 😊
C. H.
It's fine. It's a weatherspoons. The food is cheap and the booze is cheap. But all pretty good. The service is good too and I'd say my experience was lgbt friendly. The bathroom was also clean.
C. C.
A nice Wetherspoon in the city that is very spacious and big, the large windows makes everything feel more open and less stuffy and cramped. Good for a nice pint and some food.
S. G.
Not the easiest place to access if in a wheelchair. high bar stools and tables on platforms. Only place we could sit was at the back tucked away from everything. When we went for breakfast the lights kept going off so spent most of our meal in the dark. Staff said it was a faulty switch.
D. S.
Cheap cheerful and staff are friendly A++++
j. j.
Lovely and clean, staff well mannered and helpful
R. M.
Amazing prices, great to get out of the cold rainy evening.
C. G.
App works well. Food was nice
f. w.
Quick fast service. Pleasant staff.
J. C.
staff very reluctant to help in sitting arrangements, with ordering food, and with cleaning sitting accommodation
S. B.
Fab place for an early start. Ideally situated in the heart of the city. I had a full Scottish breakfast which was amazing. Fantastic value for money, and comes with free refill on your drinks. The staff were great too. Friendly and welcoming as well as efficient and professional. Definitely recommended.
G. A.
had a breakfast muffin was very good X.
J. M.
Had a good night
A. D.
Place is busy but always manage to get a seat even if you need to wait. There's plenty of room downstairs and up. The prices are great for food and drink. And good options for the kids too. Staff are lovely despite how busy they get. Always our go to place when up in Glasgow.
l. s.
Good spoons. Far better than counting house
R. H.
Standard Spoons with a spectacular lift 😀
R. M.
Food as good as always. Quick service, fairly friendly staff. It's a Wetherspoons - you just know what you're going to get!!
C. B.
Friendly service and prices reasonable for a munch
K. R.
Cheap pints, free refills on coffee. What's not to like?
t. q.
Was in before a gig in the classic grand, great pint and cheap too, shared some nice pizzas aswell
m. m.
Nice place with good ambience and of course very spacious. Outdoor seating available. Food and service is commendable
p. b.
An average spoons conveniently located close to the train station.
Not as friendly as the Counting House, Society Rooms or the Hengler's
P. B.
Standard Wetherspoons in a fairly grim location, much nicer Wetherspoons available close by, head for those.
A. C.
A beautiful building on the inside and out. A pretty popular place too, but that shouldn't be a surprise since it's located near the south end of Buchanan Street, near Glasgow Central and St. Enoch. The staff are friendly and helpful. Social distanceing measures have been put in place for seating and ordering food etc. To order food you do so by using the Weatherspoon's app. They have extended the Eat Out to Help Out scheme with their specials coined Rishi's Dishes and Sunak Specials (or it could be the other way around, though either way I think it is funny but also a clever marketing strategy that's not intended to be disrespectful at all). I will definitely go back again.
m. g.
Just a plain meal no veg or salad, not the tastiest I've had, didn't get a choice of sauces, waitress pointed vaguely at where salt etc was went to it and only vinegar there
J. K.
Fast, friendly service. Meals were very nice and good value for money.
A. G.
Nice toilets. Food was fast coming out and the new pizza are really nice. Recommend the BBQ chicken
A. B.
Enjoyed my food, really tasty
A. H.
I have eaten here on numerous occasions and have always been very pleased. My wife confirms this opinion. The building is superb especially upstairs. Atmosphere is good, busy yet never crowded in the late afternoon. Staff and service are excellent. Consistently great experience.
Z. K.
Great pub if you want to lose the feeling of time and even space. Your time gets dilated and you might even contract. You will make good old Einstein smile. Buses home are across the road and you can even see their arrival times from the pub if you are an eagle and alcohol has not reached your cornea yet😂
L. M.
Food was amazing had fish chip peas 😋 had ice cream for dessert it was lovely been going there for years staff are so nice would definitely recommend it 👌
M. M.
Just had a lovely lunch and drink here today.Staff very friendly and attentive, prices unbelievable.🍹
C. D.
Good pub with brilliant staff!
J. B.
Meal was enjoyable and staff friendly but seems like the portion size has taken a hit.
B. B.
Cheap and cheerful, was very very busy tonight
M. K.
The food is cheap and the drinks are too, which made it super busy and packed. However it is a Wetherspoons and the cheap drinks and food is why it's so busy all the time. The building itself is stunning, I love how regal it looks inside. The upstairs area also has really great tables by the windows, which makes for nice people watching.
D. P.
Cheap and cheery, managed a full night in here and only spent £20, but that came at the cost of waiting over 20 minutes to get served at the bar. Good place for larger groups of people, lots of open space and two floors. Nice old building with high ceiling gives a sense of space.
D. B.
Friendly service and good value.
B. R.
Great meal and greatly served by the staff xx pre show drinks x
G. K.
Well priced for Glasgow. Decent pub.
A. M.
Good service beer prices good. Staff gave quick and good service sitting out side ordered through app very easy 👍
C. W.
Got in this wetherspoons at 11:15 and ordered food i waited 30mins and didn't get any food or the drink i ordered when i complained got the refund, staff were respectful and understanding.
*. f. n.
Atmosphere is good. It's a good place to go and, although i ate there a while ago, the food was nice and, apparently still is nice. However, (and this is why i only gave 3 stars) the bar staff, most notably the young girls, always seem down and/or cold. Standing at the bar, they pretend not to see you and serve other people (sometimes everybody) before getting to you which is strange. Other than them, the place is a good place to go. I would recommend! Just let someone else go for the drinks ha!
J. T.
Sound place to meet up for a few pints before a gig
R. A.
Nice had best fish chips and (Yorkshire caviar) mushy peas the fish taste so fresh you could taste the sea yum yum
A. G.
Very good Burger, good onion rings and fries. The roll should be a bit crispy

There was a bit of a queue and it took some time getting in coz the greeter on the door insisted on taking details for all 3 of us. When we got to our table there was a notice inviting us to register for track and trace online, we were upstairs and obliged to use the app for ordering- could have saved a bit of hassle at the door. But then again, didn't some newspaper run a story that Wetherspoons wasn't being thorough enough with their checking? So perhaps we need to cut some slack. The food was really good, servers were great so you must wonder why only 4 stars....... well the kitchen got the order wrong: 2 different curries one large one normal- mixed them up. That won't put us off, we like a deal, so we'll be back!!
A. P.
Typical Wetherspoons. You get what it says on the tin! Simple, tasty, good value, speedy. Very busy with good atmosphere. Good to be able to get small portions on some of the dishes. However the small fish and chips I had was disappointing... it was really a small portion of batter...I had to hunt for any fish! I'd recommend just getting the full portion.
L. C.
It was okay.
But our table had about 8 empty glasses on it, and still the servers would come and bring us newly ordered drinks without taking the empty glasses...
When we moved the empty glasses to another table that no-one was at for some space, a waitress rolled her eyes at us.
🙄
C. C.
Friendly atmosphere good value. Handy location.
w. g.
Very comfortable, great prices.
A. G.
Had a lovely meal at The Crystal Palace. I was surprised by how big the pub was. Cannot get more central that this
J. M.
The pandemic means u have to use the app for pretty much anything the grub was good as always but the beer was pretty rank our first pints were "off" problem with the pipes we were told they stopped taking drinks orders at 9:15 pm the bell rang once and that was that will be a while b4 we go back when they re open
K.
I took a breakfast there. Good customer service. Great food and worth for the price!
D. M.
Pleasant place to eat, tasty food only downside was the toilets were not very clean.
S. L.
Just a wetherspoons does what it says on the tin....no thrills. Waited about 20 mins for our dessert and it was the wrong item when it finally came.
i. A.
Huge place so lots of tables and good service. Pretty swanky looking too for a spoons
G. M.
Staff were very alert helpful and services were quick and polite seem to be understaff .staff were on the ball tables cleaned soon as emptied well done🤓👏👏
T. C.
This is a typical Wetherspoon Pub in a great location. When I have a mixed group of ages from baby to 95yo and mixed abilities (blind/wheelchair/out of towners) this is where I take them. Food is of a good standard, recommend curry or fish and chips and it is affordable and there is a dish to suit everyone. If folk are from out of town, this is easy to get to, a passerby can easily tell your friend where it is. It can get busy downstairs but upstairs is quieter with large tables for bigger groups and a lift to take up wheelchair users, wheelchair toilet upstairs too. Great selection of usual beers as well as craft beers and cocktail pitchers and others. Breakfast really cheap, a fry up for under £5 & unlimited self serve coffee and tea. Always clean and always got toilet paper in girls loo. Kids have to be out by 8pm. Staff friendly and helpful. No music or parking. Would recommend to anyone on a budget, large groups and meeting place for relatives and friends from out of town or just your own friends. I have also popped in to have a quiet breakfast over a paper on my own. Try it.
M. W.
Decent selection of ales which is refreshed regularly. Great for after gigs at Audio, which is just round the corner. Only draw backs are the long waiting times for your drink, the bar is regularly mobbed. Not as bad as the Counting House though.
C. F.
Overall good place to get a drink. Went last weekend and the power for the block went out - they kicked us out and told us to leave the drinks. Little but rude but won't put them down for it. Pitchers are a good cheap way to get plastered fast.
A. S.
Enjoyed my meal & drink up to Wetherspoons standard ! Only thing some Table Tops are a little tired and could do with being freshened up a bit !
S. A.
Good boozer. Good selection of beers and grub at decent prices. Can be tricky to get a seat when football's on. Apparently your not allowed on tables when Scotland score against England. Would go back but I reckon I'm barred.
S. N.
Went last week arrived at 2.15 tried to get fish and chips and a steak pie none left so we left poor show
E. W.
We like the Crystal Palace because the food is ok at a very decent price and it is easy to get to.
They have a massive choice on the menu as with most Wetherspoon restaurants. The quality of the food is good. When we ordered food we were told by the staff it would be 15 minutes the food was at the table a lot quicker than that.
One of the big reasons I like going to this restaurant is all the Glasgow history on the walls every time I go in there I learn something new also the building is very historic and has a lovely old elevator which you can take up to the top to have a look over Glasgow. It is very popular with football fans because there's lots of big tv screen all over the room.
I and my mother-in-law were not happy with hygiene. We know there was a football match on at the time and it was very busy but the place was filled with dirty plates and glasses. When the game was over the lady that came to clear up wipe the tables with a dirty cloth with no disinfectant spray and then sticking the cloth in her pocket. Also, the disabled bathroom was dirty.
Accessibility
Getting in and around this bar is ok but can be a bit problematic when the is on footballs. The disabled bathroom is adequate but it's a bit of a tight squeeze.
A good place to go for something to eat or for a drink or to watch sports.
S. R.
The food quality and portions are nice and drinks are cheap compared to any free houses, like any other Weatherspoon.
L. Y.
Food as usual was amazing my only complaint was the table hadn't been wiped down or wasted menus removed
D. G.
Simply a wetherspoons, does what it says on the tin. Nice old building too
P. H.
Booked a table for the start of a hen night. We got mixed up with the times and were as such an hour late, however our table was still available. The new app is great! No more standing at the bar to get served. Cheap cocktails, and drinks.
G. M.
Quiet due to current road restrictions into the city centre but a good get together.
T.
Great atmosphere when quiet, not the best place when it's full and you can hardly heat yourself think, personally think there should be more bar staff allocated upstairs on busier nights. Glad that Wetherspoons now has a order at your table app as it saves you standing around at the bar for ages.
J. H.
The staff are always plesent and know their beers 😋 very reasonable prices too.
A. M.
Food was lovely and the staff was kind and offered advice on what to get. I found them giving their personal opinion on certain foods welcoming and encouraged me to try something new. Now it is my favourite dish there.
J. R.
Good prices and food
m. c.
Very nice atmosphere great staff
D. J.
Lovely surroundings in a classic old Glasgow building. Great choice of beers and very friendly staff. Big screens on for sporting events too. My only gripe is the time it takes to get served during busy times. A few extra staff wouldn't go amiss!
Y. B.
Absolutely full of wonderful characters, safe haven of friendly characters and to top it off gorgeously low prices
B. M.
Fairly standard Witherspoons experience. Good to nick in for a quick pint and a bit of food before heading onward. Comparatively cheap standard fare. Quite bright inside given the interesting architecture of the building. A solid starting point.
C. S.
Very loud and busy not alot of cleaning or social distancing. Food was cheap and chearful
m. r.
Great value for drinks
T. M.
Staff are all lovely, can be a little bit crowded but it's part of the charm. Only time I've ever had a bad experience was when the food I ordered came out frozen in the middle, but the staff were very apologetic and replaced it as well as gave me a dessert :)
K. C.
Nice decor nice staff great prices
G. B.
Very cold&draughty was very disappointed with food l usually have lasagne but thought for a change ld have macaroni no offence but it tasted like the boxed Cheesy Pasta
had to send it back young girl who seved us was lovely went into kitchen came back out apologies from kitchen and offered me something else just had dessert instead. But was impressed by paying one tea coffee and having free refills
J. r.
Food was reasonably priced and you know what you are getting. Cannot fault value for money. Appreciate top up of coffee too! Some of seating however were looking very dirty and shabby. Staff friendly.
L. H.
Great place. Very friendly staff. Lovely food.
L. T.
I like many love a Wetherspoons they are well priced, spacious and having the app to be able to order is one of the best ideas they have had. This one is a little smaller than most I have been to but the food was very nice, we had breakfast of pancakes as we visited on pancake day. Had a very nice look with huge windows on 2 walls.
The location was good for us as we were staying in the jurys inn just up the road as well.
P. B.
Box standard Wetherspoons, very well priced food and drink.
D. S. F.
Love the food and clubs that I notice when I'm there.
Access info:
Two entrance and exit doors. The door toward the kitchen is the wheelchair access as the other entrance has stairs
Lift for anyone
Toilet around the building at the back.
A. M.
First time there great food and excellent service from the bar staff
B.
Your typical Wetherspons but it is quite nice. Very clean, didn't seem to be any "louts" about and the vibe was very relaxed. Ordered a mixed grill and that was pretty decent as well.
S. C.
It's a beautiful building. Also they have a coffee machine that you can get refills from. It was a bit loud when the rugby was on but we went upstairs where there were no screens and it was all good
E. M.
Pretty typical whetherspoons. Located next to Jury's Inn so I think a lot of people did what we did and thought breakfast would be cheaper. It was cheap but place was super busy and the table were flight. Think we waited about 40mins for food. Would not rush back.
B. w.
Far better prices for brekkie than hotel and just as tastie
s. l.
Very good wasnt waiting long for our drinks and the toilets are nice and clean
W. B.
Just had the 14oz Aberdeen Angus rump steak my partner had a Hawaiian Pizza. All great food, served before I was half way down my pint. Steak was cooked rare and was perfect. Loved the honey glaze. Used the new order & pay system which worked well only one thing. When ordering my partners Strongbow with blackcurrant cordial there was no option to add this. We were offered Strongbow dark fruits but the waiter managed to sort this out for us.
G. N.
Fairly standard for a Wetherspoons. However, ordered the small fish and chips and were less than pleased with the portion size. The fish was absolutely tiny. The rice we had with the British Beef chilli was cold and one of our glasses was unclean. The staff were neither friendly nor unfriendly.
D.
Nice place. Reminds me of a free house we went to in Edinburgh. This space is large and very open and bright (upstairs anyway). Not your typical heavily wooded dark pub
A. M.
Had a couple drinks here. Staff are lovely and friendly, enjoyed the time I spent there. Good if you want some food while on a night out too
R. T.
Nice real ale at a good price. Nice Ham, Eggs and Chips as well. Great experience.
S. C.
I always take my family here after shopping at the weekends. Its always extremely busy. The staff work hard to make sure customer needs are met. On a few occasions I have observed managers having to deal with difficult customers and they always do a brilliant job of sorting things out. Would recommend.
a. m. (.
Scan QR code on arrival. Use app for ordering food and drinks - brought straight to your table
M. B.
A well appointed pub/restaurant in the middle of Glasgow. I'd call it more a restaurant than a pub; it doesn't have the cozy pub 'feel', its brightly lit and carpeted and has a full menu. It was a good meal, the prices were reasonable and the service was good, but as far as atmosphere goes its not a pub.
L. S.
Part of Wetherspoons chain. Does what it says. Reasonable prices. Enjoyed the sparkling wine, a big improvement on the Prosecco. Food was average but couldn't complain about price. Service at bar good but it was a Tuesday evening.
D. M.
Always good for meeting up with friends. Can be very busy especially at the weekends so be prepared to wait a wee while to get served. But staff are very friendly and drink prices are very reasonable
B. S.
One of my favourite Wetherspoons. With huge windows on two sides it is bright and welcoming. Add to that a good selection of seating to suit any party and then an excellent choice of beverages. What's not to like.
C. F.
The Crystal Palace is a short walk away from Glasgow central station, making it ideal for a quick pint after work or for pre drinks. Set over two huge floors it is massive and has plenty of seating. The staff are friendly and the service is relatively quick however it can get quite busy!
G. M.
Usual Wetherspoons pub but a good location near to the Central Station. Very busy but handy for travellers early breakfast. The lift has a new internal glass door but has kept the original entrance. Better for disabled access.
M. T.
Visited a few times, only for food tho, during quiet times. Efficient service, most likely the quickest I've ever received in a Wetherspoons pub, and I've been to quite a few of them in Scotland. Clean and spacious.
R. D.
Great meal and beer
A. C.
Great beer, great location
J. M.
This is my favourite Wetherspoons.
We normally sit upstairs as it has so many windows overlooking the bustling streets of the city centre. The staff are normally friendly and the food is good, especially for the price. The atmosphere and character of the building is what makes it for me.
I would recommend going for lunch (family friendly)and sit upstairs near a window. In the evening it can be a bit rowdy due to it's location, which is why I tend to avoid it after 5pm.
S.
Lovely atmosphere, great selection of drinks. Food a little dry. Not knowledgeable about certain foods allergies. If improved on this would gladly eat again. Happily drink there just not eat
D. M.
Probably the busiest Wetherspoons pub in the city, the prices are great and the food is great and very reasonably priced. The building is remarkable - mainly glass exterior, therefore the name. Excellent choice of beers and real ales.
V. R.
Food reasonable and tasty. Quick seevice.. Kids allowed. X
G. T.
Good pub and good service and nice to be back in there again food was really good good pub to start night out in
M. M.
Great affordable food
B. A.
Nice, small outside area with planters. Place look tidy and looked after. Very friendly staff.
J. R.
Very good food, we had fish and chips. Good sized portions, large restaurant with lots of smaller areas to sit in. Table service available through an easy to download app.
s. m.
Chilled atmosphere which is just what i needed after a day of frantic shopping . Staff were most helpful and willing to attain anything we required including the highchair that was needed for my 3 year old
R. F.
Lovely food lovely staff, nice selection of drinks, friendly atmosphere
J. P.
There´s always plenty of space. Beautiful refurbished old building. Cheap prices and huge variate in both food and drinks. The only downside is that the staff could be nicer and that some times it takes them ages to clean the tables.
J. M.
Cannae beat a spoons sometimes and this one is particularly good because it can be for a whole variety of clientele. Upstairs for families during the day and pre drinks later on. And downstairs for those who enjoy a bit of the football on the telly.
J. H.
Terrible service. Had to wait ages to get my drinks & it wasn't very busy. Twice my table got other people's drinks.
E. M.
Usually a bit quieter than the likes of the counting house! Went in with a group of 15 and the staff were great when we ordered drinks for everyone! Very efficient!
M. D.
Staff very pleasant and helpful
t. m.
Girl with green hair stole my sandals , nice staff killed her
M. B.
Very nice place. Value for money meals. Staff very welcoming. Bar staff ok but need to up their customer service with a smile. All in all 5 out of 5.
A. B.
Brilliant service the food excellent and the waiting staff were polite and friendly.
I. B.
Delicious continental breakfast with buttery coirsaunts. Would've been five stars but this creepy neighbor appeared out of nowhere and started whispering in a strange ancient language that made everyone around us heads explode. My wife managed to snap a pic before he came bounding over on all fours.
R. S.
Service slow, however, polite and attentive staff. The food is good and the drinks are reasonably priced.
E. L.
Crystal Palace is a lovely place to go for something inexpensive but tasty in town.
However, if you are in a wheelchair or have mobility issues where stairs and high chairs are a no go then AVOID this place.
The lift has not worked for months and judging by the signs put up there are no intentions of fixing/replacing. The downstairs area is split into 2 parts, by you guessed it, a couple of stairs - fairly high ones at that. To compound the problem the area up the 3 stairs is the ONLY area down stairs that has regular seating, the rest is all high seats, which isn't suitable if you have a wheelchair in your group.
I myself is fully able bodied, but I work with people who are not, and it infuriates me that Crystal palace no longer is properly wheelchair friendly.
E. L.
Fab pub in Glasgow great atmosphere and the staff are very friendly
R. W.
Friendly Glasgow pub with a good range of beers and serves food, also cheap 👍
R. W.
Very very friendly staff will 💯 b bk
P. V.
Ordered my drinks through the app. They came quickly and I was left to my own devices. Not too busy or noisy. A perfect quiet drink
L. M.
Great service, nicely presented food, good prices
S. M.
Wetherspoon in the heart of Glasgow. Ok for a drink or two.
A. N.
Courteous staff, prompt service.
T. F.
good beer and food -upstairs is less busy -there is an old fashioned lift too well worth a ride -sausage and mash is to die for -deserves a michelin star
S. L.
The original wetherspoons pub in Scotland it is very big and and ornate.
Very busy when we visited prior to catching a train.
Using the app at this point was almost compulsory as getting served at the bar was a nightmare because of the number of people.
Possibly caused by the other nearby wetherspoons being closed.
A nice place to go as long as it's not the weekend.
D.
Boisterous atmosphere on a Thursday night as it was quite busy, but not as loud or cramped as the Counting house. Ok selection of beers. Interior not too inspiring, though.
J. R.
My first time there, great food & friendly staff
M. W.
Excellent staff and service.
N. M.
Good food cheap drinks service a bit slow
T. G.
I am still laughing at the mixed reviews especially the manager snatching drinks from punters at closing time and the one with the snotty egg saying what do you want me to do about it ha ha ha. It is what it is at spoons all over the uk some days it's great some it's not what do you want at these great prices..? By the way my one beef is could the staff wipe the tables more often when collecting glasses and crockery.? Cheers good old Tim
D. A.
Table side service app is brilliant. Didn't need to go near the bar once, the food wasn't long on a busy Saturday. Don't know when they changed there food but it's delicious.
K. L.
Love this place but the staff should nip round and wipe the tables more often... Too many glass rings and bits of food. Could do better!
I. H.
Good controls of covid regulations. Table numbers are a bit of a joke when using the app. 3 table 45 which made ordering through the app mayhem
I. C.
Very fast in service considering it was busy especially when you book on the app
d. v.
Very busy place I can see why drinks are very fairly priced food is very good would recommend using there app as you can order from your own seat and just sit back while the food gets delivered to your table same goes for drinks
j. n.
Just popped in for quick beer while waiting for bus home staff were very helpful
g.
Now not a bad place at all good ales the staff were overrun a bit only two behind the bar and the lass didn't seem to have the knowledge of what a gluten free beer was the answer I got was check the drinks menu but I'll still give it 5 stars because they had a good variety of ipa
H. M.
Fantastic service, staff we're very attentive, food was excellent
s. s.
Cool laid back you get your own space great staff good food good prices..
Service always attentive ..tonight steak night wife on the way look forward to another good night we meet here after work and when we don't feel like cooking like tonight... Loved the introduction of pizzas..as an italian national though well let's see
..great pizzas love the vegan dish the sweet potatoes and spinach my wife's favourite... Anyway I don't work for this company just a big fan..
Ciao Santino....
r. l.
It's a spoon, can't complain? ;)
R. J.
My favourite Wetherspoons in Glasgow. Reliable guest ales and great value food.
D. A.
Really good food, staff nice & friendly
j. h.
Good atmosphere, great prices. Great staff. Go in often for a couple of drinks then catch the train. Haven't eaten there yet.
K. W.
Good place to have a drink with friends, lovely atmosphere, big selection of drinks, not bad service, at the bar usually have to wait a little bit to long because of confused bar staff. Great location with taxies and bus stops nerby. After all great value for money👌
Z. Z.
Its a weatherspoons, so what can you expect? Great prices but extremely busy at times. I would say understaffed on weekend nights. Breakfasts are usually no bother, you get what you want in peace
S.
Good place to meet friends and have a bite to eat. Food is good and fast. There's across the street in the multi-story car park. Good central location.
J. S.
I have been having lunch every week for 12mths.
Recently my food has not been of the standard id come to expect.
One of my fried eggs was raw, when i complained the reply from David the duty manager was"what do you want me to do about it"
So not only has the food went down hill so has the customer service.
It spoiled my day, so be advised.
D. C.
Helpful staff with ordering from app. Breakfast good value
L. C.
Not bad.
negatives... got ID'd at 32 years old...
positives... 1:10 delivery time from the app from order to ice cold Heineken.
Good hustle guys!
D.
The thing about Wetherspoons is you know what you getting. Consistancy is good as you can almost decide what you are going to eat before you get there. The staff I have never had bother with, they are polite and eager to please. Some customers on the other hand don't know how to queue, I must complete my Wetherspoons a app to avoid the bar.
C. B.
Is what it says on the tin.Happy with service and premises.
S. M.
Too big, too busy but great value.right on center of town.
L. C.
Great to pop in for a few drinks and some food.. meals are well priced and cooked well. Can't complain!
P. P.
Apart from The Counting House, Wetherspoon’s establishments in Glasgow pale compared to their compatriots in the capital. Despite the very large windows, everything about the decor seems to soak up the light, similar to the Sir John Moore. This will be probably be addressed when the extending of the pub floor into the adjoining site, along with the addition of hotel rooms and rooftop garden. Until then, pub is split over ground and upper floors, with toilets in the basement. A strip of seats and tables has been added along the edge of the pavement. Early opening, and a good place to wait for a train from Central station. Free coffee refills, and order and pay from your table.
S. K.
Excellent staff, Lisa went above and beyond to make my birthday special
G. M.
Enjoyed food and real ales.
2nd visit with my parents. Ales was great. I had empire state burger. It's was great.
My mum had british beef lasagne. She was very happy as it's hot food.
J. C.
Friendly , helpful Staff . Big airy pub , great interior .
F. S.
Breakfast was lovely and the staff were very nice and attentive 👌
S. W.
cheap and cheerful. let kids in to eat until late in the day. can use the Wetherspoon app so no need to fight your way to the bar.
A. B.
Staff nice and cheap beer 🍺
A. W.
Weatherspoon pub with normal range of food & drink. Exceptionally large windows make it good for watching the world pass by. Large tvs in either corner above bar are decent for watching sports. Their biggest drawback is service can be extremely slow at peak hours, the staff sometimes seem perplexed or disinterested
F. F.
Really enjoyed our visit with very friendly staff
R. K.
The steaks were tough.
A. G.
Palace by name and worthy by being a Pleasure to visit... Real ales at Great prices.. Weatherspoons menu so great value.. If you must eat......!! busy but staff welcoming..
P. M.
Large Wetherspoons pub set over 2 floors. Lots of seats and a few TV screens for sports. Standard range of draught and bottles but really well priced.
Very traditional pub decor with a relaxed vibe. Mixed ages but generally leaning towards an older crowd. Large floor to ceiling windows all around (hence the name of the pub) great for people watching.
Table service available with the usual Wetherspoons pub menu. Food arrived quickly and was well prepared. Very small seating area outside for smokers.
No music playing as per most Wetherspoons pubs, a few gambling machines scattered around, cash machine available.
Last big pub before you leave the city centre and worth a visit if you're down that end.
L. P.
Had a full Scottish breakfast for 5 people all served together and food not. Fantastic breakfast with free fill up of coffee highly recommend.
M. W.
Had a nice meal and a drink. Service was good.
B. H.
As part of the Wetherspoons chain you can expect the usual offerings.
The pub is large and multi-levelled, with an open, old style lift in operation to take you between floors if you require a lift.
The Crystal Palace does have televisions for the sport, so it can get busy during match times, so if you are looking for somewhere to have a seat in the relative quiet I would avoid it during the big games.
r. m.
Good place to eat .
L. H.
Always good food and busy but not loud, so you can actually have a convo. Nice atmosphere
G. G.
Your typical JD Wetherspoons pub which isn't really different from most others to be honest.
Has two floors, with plenty of seating and sells the same drinks and food as you would expect.
Located in the heart of Glasgow city center.
T. T.
Nice little mixed pub. Can order food using your phone. Staff are friendly and presentable. Definetly the best 'Spoons' in the city centre.
D. S.
good pub with friendly staff and decent prices
R. M.
Gd service 👍4 star would be 5 if staff smiled looked bit unhappy x
F. B.
Pretty decent city centre pub, go here fairly regularly and keep going back so it's doing something right! Typical wetherspoons with plenty of space, does get very busy though!
p. f.
Reasonable prices for wide range of drinks but never enough staff to serve it. Food is cheap and cheerful
D. G.
Went for breakfast and it was excellent, can't comment on what it's like as a boozer at night but the surroundings were very nice
M. N.
Good service cheap food and drink.
S. K.
Was great for drinks and food although the place was over crowded and the staff weren't very polite x
S. H.
Fab wee day with my husband daughter son in law warm friendly well priced drinks .. and food big screen for sports avents .... will b back .. staff friendly .. down loaded app for table service for drinks didnt have to cue at bar great
E. T.
Nice spoons. As always the staff could make more of an effort to actually clear and wipe tables. Food was average and what you expect from a spoons. Thanks
S. L.
Typical wetherspoons, fast service, good value food.
J. N.
Only 4/5 didn't try the Alcohol, but the fish 🐠, chips 🍟 & Mushy peas was nice & the Coffee ☕ was quite good 😂
p. R.
Been coming here for years, great food, and even better value, feels good not to ripped off for your food and drink, greedy Irish publicans and restaurantuers should take note, con artists.
K. S.
Have to go back for the Gordon's pink gin
