Beautiful place with top notch service! I highly recommend! The dishes are delicious, the Balmoral Chicken is very well done as well as the Sticky Toffee Pudding! The waitress was very charming, thank you again for this very pleasant moment!

Nice, local type bar. Staff were friendly and helpful, food was better than your average pub chain. The fish and chips was a decent portion and tasty. I love a whisky and it was great to see a few options, especially a very reasonable priced Lagavulin 16, a personal favourite! Recommended for a quick bite or casual afternoon

Such a lovely and welcoming place! with a wide selection of different drinks which is amazing. I was served by Caitlin and what a wonderful young lady, she recommended one of the new slushy cocktails and it was delicious. Will highly recommend to anyone and will most definitely be back 😊

I really struggle to fault this place, all the times I've been here I've never had a single complaint or issue. The mobile app is a really convenient way of ordering food from the table, although it doesn't seem to update when a particular meal is sold out, a couple of times I've had to reselect a meal when the staff have come over and let me know they've sold out (usually sold out of chicken breast as this place is really popular) Staff are attentive and friendly. The live music nights on a Friday evening are usually worth a visit. I really like this place and have made it my regular local when I am in the city. I'm working my way through their menu, trying out every meal. So far, the Balmoral Chicken is my favourite! Although - Team Howgait - is it possible to have the Purple Rain cocktail added back to the menu? This was the best one! I also enjoy the weekday half price cocktail prices, very good value for money.

Such an amazing place!! The food is great and the bar service is quick! I was in last Friday for their live music night and I had such a fantastic night! A special mention to Mantas and Graeme for being so helpful and lovely, really made my night. Was in tonight, place is a great wee pub. I think the girls serving were absolutely amazing ! sabrina I think ? Was so efficient and always had an eye on the bar to see if anyone wanted served and got there before most people could even ask for another absolutely amazing barmaid ! The other I didn't quite catch the name has a daisy tattoo made the place light up with a smile, serving and a thank you, both made me feel so welcome I will definitely be back thank you Cracking pint too !!!

Always have an amazing time here! Wether it’s for food or a night out. A couple weeks ago me and my cousin were here for a night out and Lisa and Fiona were lovely! And the drinks were fabulous! Today I jumped in for a quick lunch and it was delicious! Fraser and Rachel were great when it came to allergens and the buttermilk style sub (vegan) was delicious 😍 the nachos as always were to die for💓 Brought my papa for his birthday and he absolutely loved it! Nice and cozy place to take a sip and get some side dishes, watching football match with friends. Large parking area behind the shop for customers. The outdoor beer garden is lovely for the sunshine day if you can find. My favourite menu are the 30 pcs BBQ chicken wings, narchos and tower of onion rings. They also have a nice live music after dinner. Get the student card for the selected discounted drinks.

Went to this Lovely pub set out the way from main busy rd after a funeral. Had some homemade soup which was delicious an hot followed by a variety of sandwiches with lots of choice on both brown an white soft bread. Drinks were reasonable priced. Will go again when I next come home to Glasgow 😁

Me and the ladies absolutely love the howgait and we come very often! They do the best cheeky tipples in the area at very good prices! The house white is beaut and we usually get a bottle (or three!) but my personal fave is the pink ginitini (always made by the beautiful Rosie!). Love all the staff! See you very soon my lovelies! Best bar in town - fact. I’m here nearly every week. Fiona and all the bar staff are absolutely amazing. Food is 10/10. Quiz nights are great fun and live music is always brilliant. Keep it up guys!

Original review: For some reason they never have the full menu. It's also a bit expensive for the food they serve. Nice place but a little off for few things. Edited: Adding a star on the original review because I like that they responded to my original one. I wanted to explain better what I think about the food, because I didn't explain myself at all. I've been there 3 times recently and they never had the full menu, and they explained why (issues with suppliers, which is pretty common at the moment). The prices are very good, that is true. Most of the menus include a free drink. You can easily eat and drink with less than 10£. But I think that they could do better with the portions and the quality of the food. The burgers, the chips and the fish are on the small side, and nothing special. There are pubs in city center which offer a much better quality at a just slightly higher price. Anyway, the place is nice, staff is helpful, they show sports on tv and even kindly agreed to change to the match I would have liked on the tv next to me. They have a room for playing games and a beer garden, which wasn't open for the weather but I think it's a great thing. Overall I would recommend the place, but think they can improve and get the 5th star.

A nice pub which serves some very nice food, a separate bar and lounge gives you options and it has a pool table. Drink prices are a wee bit steep, however if you work for the NHS you can get a discount (unfortunately I don't know what it is) but probably the best thing about The Howgait is the large beer garden...but not right now because as I'm writing this storm Eunice has arrived 😱

Was in last night could only get a seat in wee lounge bit that was fine. lovely food and as a nhs employee great you get a wee discount on alcohol only complaint is the bar staff will not serve you in lounge u need to go outside then into bar to be served then go outside and back into lounge with your drink. Feel this is a poor situation that needs addressed considering ther was 3 to 4 bar staff hopefully this is addressed and look forward to visiting again

I was here with a group of friends last Wednesday, we had originally sat outside in the beer garden when the weather took a turn for the worse. The staff were all so accommodating and moved us inside. We felt so safe during our visit as they had lots of covid related measures in place, whilst still having a fun atmosphere. The Howgait is just down the road from Strathclyde Uni and was me and my friends' local essentially, wonderful pub and great memories. The staff is lovely (especially Abby, incredibly nice and very helpful) and is still one of my favorite places to go for a pint in Glasgow.

A skip, hop and a jump away from the Cathedral if you need warming up or a quick refuel, especially with varied dietary requirements in the group. Staff very friendly and helpful. Went there on a Sunday afternoon, and boy wasn't it crowded. Went there on a game day and that's a place to watch out for if you have any Celtic football games to watch while you eat and/or drink. I tried the footlong sub and coke, which was good - nothing fancy and downgraded about it. But I heard the burgers there are really good. Some of my friends tried it and they said it was amazing. Affordable, cozy and a great place to be. So next time, if you have a game day, you know where to go.

Lovely little bar/pub to go to if you want to get away from the busy city streets, the food isn't all too expensive and the service is friendly and quick. I am a regular for good at this location because there is always something new to try with new menus and specials regularly changing. If you are a football fan they also regularly showcase the biggest matches of the day on 4 big screens dotted around the place.

Called in on a rainy afternoon for a drink and ended up getting a stack of nachos to snack on between us. Prices were fair and the plate of nachos was decent. Looked like a student bar but seemed to be a mix of young folk, couples and a few old fellas propping up the bar.
