Reviews of Fromebridge Mill
T. N.
Gorgeous pub/ restaurant probably my favourite so far.
The food was perfect service was swift staff friendly and the place itself is situated in the most tranquil surroundings I’ve ever had the pleasure to eat at.
The river runs alongside the pub and enhances the building even more so.
It’s laid back from the main road with plenty of free parking available.
Plenty of outdoor seating available and the river can be seen clearly from the outdoor eating area.
Highly recommend this restaurant it’s definitely up there as one of the best in my book. 💜
L. B.
Lovely location. Easy to get to being only 3 minutes from the M5 junction 13 exit.
Plenty of character both inside and outside the restaurant. We'll worth a visit.
Both the food and service was great.
Reasonably priced with a very good choice of meals available. Staff were helpful and friendly.

Excellent pub & restaurant! Picturesque location on banks of the River Frome this Grade 2 listed former corn mill is full of character and with a lovely atmosphere. The meal we had was perfect and the staff so friendly, helpful and efficient. With a large car par park and a good variety of seating areas indoors & outdoors this is a wonderful place to visit for all occasions! Highly recommended!
S. F.
Had a fab meal here for my mum's birthday. There were 18 of us, the food was lovely and the service faultless. Thank you for making this such a special occasion.
E. B.
Great stop of with our motorhome. £10 over night but that's donated to mcmillan charity. Beautiful pubs and great walks for the dogs. Car parks huge!!!
L. L.
We only visited because it was a recommended friendly dinner and stop for Motor homes. What we weren't expecting was some seriously good food and excellent customer service. Thanks so much for having some more interesting GF options too. I sometimes get stuck eating the same stuff because of my dumb gut so a nice choice is really appreciated.
We were later in the evening and it was quiet enough to have a peak round. Really cool building. Will definitely come back if we pass through again.
L. H.
Absolutely stunning food lovely staff THANKYOU. Will definitely return.
A. P.
Lovely setting and atmosphere. Had Sunday lunch there. Roast turkey was succulent. Vegetables were ok. The ice cream sundae had far too much whipped cream in it and the cup of tea was only half full. It's not as good as it used to be when they had the carvery there but still a nice place to go.
G. C.
Great food all fresh. Much improved from last visit many moons ago. Barman and waitresses couldn't have been more helpful. A delightful lunch. But star missing as the area around was overgrown and bit scruffy. But well worth a visit.
C. B.
The food was very tasty and I was there for my nephew who was turning 18. The service was great and they really made sure we got our order and quickly made up any mistakes. We were a big party and the place was packed so the staff were really working hard for us to make sure we were happy. And my nephew had a good birthday. Thank You
M. N.
The location is beautiful
The food took almost an hour to come out but it was pretty good taste and portion size.
Most tables were still adhering to social distancing
Only negative was the staff that were serving tables weren't wearing masks - although they're not compulsory currently, it would help to prevent cross contamination.
N. F.
Nice place. It is pretty good value for money. The staff were pleasant. They offer a function room too for larger gatherings. The food we had was served timely and was enjoyable.
B. S.
Greene King pub in nice waterside setting. The signature burger is worth trying.
M. P.
Chose this pub to have lunch with an old friend. We had fish and chips.. lovely batter, but oh the fish was like leather! Chips were good butno salad or garnish and at £14 we found it very expensive.
Clean enough with great servers and picturesque environment.

The staff were friendly but my food was not as I hoped for. I had a Beyond meat burger, the burger was lovely but the brioche bun was very burnt inside and the chips weren't great with no other option on the plate. No one came to the table to see how our food was. It was a shame as its a beautiful place and last time I had a great meal there.
P. T.
Having been today 1/8/22 my birthday lunch, I would not recommend this pub for the following reasons. Having booked a table and they were not very busy, I was alarmed to fund all 5 beer pumps were empty also some lagers were also empty. We were then told there was a long wait for meals, when there were not many people in. We waited over half hour to then find that I meal the hunters chicken was not edible. When we complained we were just fobbed of with a sorry. Not a pleasant experience so we went to the local garden centre for a dessert. Don’t bother to try this pup.
S. N.
Food good, unfortunately we visited on a bank holiday and had to wait an hour for our food. We were warned when.ordering that there would be a wait. Lovely location. Lots of seating outside for the nice weather.
Y. S.
Lovely meal. We went early as we had my grandsons with us. My steak was cooked perfectly and everyones meal was very good. The service was good as was the atmosphere.
M. S.
We visit 4-5 times a year. Food was not great this time and I put it down to lack of staff.
I had the Sunday Roast and it looked and tasted like a microwave meal.
This is the game places serving food now play. Do they underbook/overbook and miss out on trade or struggle to cope.
Every other time we have been it has been quiet, and food has been good and service fast.
Being "best at your busiest" is a challenge for a lot of restaurants now.
D. S.
The pub is lovely. It's nestled on the side of the river and had a lovely charm to it.
The sunday roast though, was miserable. The roast beef looked as though it was boiled in milk. A tepid grey colour. It was also sliced so thinly that I wouldn't be surprised that if I held it up I could see through it.
The vegetables seemed liked the frozen mixed veg you can buy from the supermarket and not fresh.
I didn't try anything else so couldn't comment on any other meal there but others looked happy enough so maybe I was just unlucky.
S. T.
What an amazing pub
Beautiful surroundings and wonderful atmosphere inside. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Great service. We will be back.
M. F.
Nice setting and good service. However carpark and approach have many potholes. Very roomy. However 2 of the dishes we ordered were inedible and one was wrong but corrected straight away.Staff apologised and we had free desserts
M. C.
Food is ok pub grub. Outside area is pleasant to sit out in summer. Downside is that there are not enough staff, the staff do their best but because of staffing levels there always tends to be queues.
M. S.
Great location, great food and lovely staff.
D. S.
Called in on quite a busy day, however, the service was very good with hot food and friendly table service. A pleasant location with good parking and plenty of table space for eating.
C. C.
Beautiful classic pub and the food was delicious. Sunday Roast was so perfect.
Feel so safe from Covid-19 because customers have to order by using application and their place was so clean. Too many spots of hand sanitiser.
A. E.
Lovely location, great value and good food. We went on a Sunday for a family Birthday. It was incredibly busy but they managed to find us a table for 6. The queue for the carvery was very long so we all opted for items from the main menu. Despite being so busy the food arrived quickly and the service was good. I would definitely visit again.
R. M.
Big group of us came in, there was a little confusion as to how many seats we needed but we got there in the end. Food was good though and good value
C. B. S.
Had the most amazing roast. Staff were friendly and welcoming will 100% recommend to others
See you soon
K. R.
Service wasn't brilliant, found the girl on the bar quite rude and abrupt when taking our order. Disappointing, but the food was nice.
T. R. P. (.
Great place for food stop after a long drive with some of the best food around! .
I really love the river side view sitting outside .
Recommended! A lot better then a service station..if you need fuel there’s gulf around the corner.
J. A.
One Bright Sunday afternoon my party of 6 adults had lunch here.
My wife who because of her illness doesn't eat very much.
So the only option open to her was a child's menu meal.
I had a 3 meat Sunday roast. The meat was excellent . But sorry to say the vegetables were in my opinion were hard .peas, broccoli, and cauliflower and carrots. I presume they will were done in a steamer, not my choice.
I really missed Carvery they used to do, where you could pick your own vegetables.
Also my wife wouldn't be embarrassed about ordering a child's meal, she could take exactly what she would eat.
We used to be regular customers before lockdown.
Things have changed.
Won't be back in a hurry.
Sorry because we always enjoyed meals here
J. E.
Spacious dining areas. Staff pleasant and efficient.. I was very happy with my lamb. My daughter enjoyed her scampi. Children's meal slightly dearer than l thought was average BUT the portion was generous. We were delighted our vegan diner had a choice of meals. All reasonably priced. Pudding portions were huge! The establishment is family and dog friendly so we were happy, as we had black lab and a toddler in tow! Setting by the river will be lovely for outside dining when the weather is warmer.
N. M.
Had Roast. I slice of beef, forgot cauliflower cheese. Not worth the money. Desserts came when our dirty plates still on table.
G. C.
Food was lovely, however they don't do a cavery anymore, so you chose from a range of roast meal, all nice and hot when it was delivered. Just the decor needs some updating. The staff were helpful and pleasant
D. C.
Great restaurant open all day for food. Lovely setting on a small river with swans. The food is great with a big choice. Sunday roasts are the best here. Definitely recommend
K. G.
Nice surroundings good food friendly staff good service unfortunately as its a greene king pub Abbot ale was off
S. P.
Good food, reasonably priced, great location. We did have a long wait for food, think the lovely weather had brought everyone out.
S. D.
First time back since covid.....just remember to order at the bar, do not receive table service. Had their roast. Was good.
T. G. N.
Lovely old mill in a picturesque location , great sitting by the river on a warm summers evening or in side under the old beamed ceiling in the colder weather. Not the greatest of ale choice , nice food although the potatoes with the Mushroom & Ale pie could have been cooked a bit longer !
A. P.
Great location, excellent fast service and friendly staff, we stumbled across this pub and were not disappointed
J. W.
Followed Sat nav using postcode , this was no good. Follow brown signs, good parking, food good and reasonable price. Friendly staff.
K. G.
Nice food, friendly staff. Lovely location on river bank. Was an old mill.
H. H.
Lovely food, Very friendly and helpful staff, best place I've been to for a long time.
S. H.
Lovely food and the staff very professional.
D. B.
Most beers off. No soap in gents. Mattress in garden. Waited 50mins for desert. Food was quite nice.
S. M.
Nice camper stopover. A bit of noise. Food was good and staff and locals friendly.
M. J.
First time visit after several good recommendations. A great location with nice outside areas, ducks and swans on the river. Staff were lovely, dining area was nice and well laid out. Food wasn't great, seemed to have been under a heat lamp for a while but was barely warm and not of great quality.
E. M.
A pleasant place to visit in a spacious, characterful building. Fairly priced menu to choose from.
C. W.
Fabulous location with friendly staff and great food. Spacious car park and lots of outdoor seating.
S. B.
Great Birthday Meal Family 💜💫😘💫

Lovely food, perfect place for a family Sunday lunch!
T. K.

C. P.
We visited today for my Mums birthday. Delicious food and fab service from friendly staff
E. a.
Looking tired inside. Outer ring of seating is falling apart. Food and service was good.
j. t.
Beautiful environment, friendly staff, delicious food. Definitely coming back
C. H.
Nice outside and in, menu a little over priced and limited lovely fries though and lacking in ambiance.
J. S.
Staff are always friendly and provide excellent service.
Can't wait to go back
R. S.
Staff was so busy as had a coach party in but they was so efficient, nothing was to much trouble, food was excellent, the standard did not drop just because they was busy.
Definitely recommend,
D. M.
Perfect venue good food great atmosphere and in beautiful surroundings
J. C.
Great meal today the sea bass was amazing
See you soon
T. M.
Lovely setting for a delicious and quality meal.
Staff welcoming and very helpful
J. N.
Lovely food, really good service.
We made a mistake with our order, so only ourselves to blame, but the waitress was so accommodating and got us what we intended to order. We went with the 5 of us and really enjoyed it.
Definitely recommend!
N. L.
No daily carvery and always seems short staffed. Pleasant enough
M. P.
Lovely location for a stop off from the motorway. Menu could perhaps do with a bit more quality over quantity
B.
Good menu, nice outdoor seating friendly staff.
A. J.
A lovely setting with all the character required for a lovely sunday lunch. The food was great value for money though I must say there may be too much choice on the plate. Beer were decent enough but £4.20 per pint probably not. A visit in the summer would be a lovely day out
e. h.
Excellent food, excellent service and very reasonable prices. Plenty of parking
A. C.
Food was lovely but the service was very slow. They lost our order for dessert as well. I would go again but maybe not at the weekend when it was clearly too busy and understaffed.
P. W.
First meal out with friends after a long time. The food was brilliant, we all had fab meals. And the dessert was just sumptuous! Special shout out to our fab waitress Jess was so friendly and helpful and all smiles 😊
Highly recommend a meal here :)
A. C.
Evening meal, nice surroundings, staff on point. Reasonable price
R. “. D.
Lovely setting , good food , great times

Disappointing visit for my mum's birthday. When we first arrived we were told that there was no chicken available, mum had her heart set on Hunters Chicken so was disappointed she couldn't have this. I had found that I got 20% off with my AA membership which was a bonus. It said that I needed to tell them when ordering the food which I did and the lad behind the bar asked for the code which he put in. I asked for the food to be put on a tab as we would possibly having puddings and further drinks. When I added these on at the end of the meal I was told the discount couldn't be applied to them. I asked to speak to the manager who basically said she could do it but couldn't be bothered as it would be hassle for her. Eventually after a bit of an argument she agreed. Slightly spoilt a special evening.
Food was average and staff were not very helpful. I will go elsewhere if in the area again.
J. R.
Lovely location & friendly staff. There were 8 of us & everyone really enjoyed their food. Will definitely be going back. (Only one tiny negative, there was no mayonnaise with the sauces. Tracey who was serving us though was great & sorted us some from the kitchen) will definitely recommend the Fromebridge to friends
M. C.
Good food, decent price, parked campervan by River for night
K. B.
Lovely place always enjoy going the food is beautiful highly recommend
K. H.
Went at lunchtime. Good pub food. Leek and chicken pie good. Good varied choice.
K. J.
There wasn't enough staff for the size of pub and the populaty of it set in an old mill they also had a very limited choice of drinks a victim of there own success and the job market at the moment
M. I.
Beautiful scenery and a really wonderful looking pub. Part of the Greene King chain. I ordered, Salt and Pepper Squid at £6.49 which was a very small portion for a starter and a little overcooked however, the batter was very good. I had a Gourmet Burger at £11.99 which was very disappointing. It was very greasy, there was actually grease dripping from it and the brioche bun was oily to the touch. The fries however were quite good, they were skin on and from a packet but cooked well and they tasted good. For desert I had a Salted Caramel Sunday which was reasonably good but overpriced for what was delivered. The staff were the saving grace and were attentive although service was very slow. There were six of us eating and we spent 2 hours in the restaurant, mostly waiting for mediocre food. I would probably not return here to eat but the setting is wonderful and the pub looks incredible.
T. B.
Went to FrombridgeMill for Sunday lunch, sat outside by the Mill Pond, great food, wonderful service, really good day out.
S. S.
It was a group meal of 30 oap people, they was told that there would be two wheel chairs, they put the group up on platform so had two steps to get up. One girl serving us, she done a great job but really needed another server. Food was nice.
r.
Great pub and food was awesome, staff were really friendly even tho they were dealing with not having card machines working. Will definitely be going again.
R. T.
Lovely staff. Amazing building. Worth a visit.
B. J.
Had a burger which was really dry and overcooked, it came with just 3 of the smallest onions rings i have ever seen. the only positive about the food was the chips.
Location is really nice but the food really lets this place down
G. U.
Good food, reasonable prices, service ok
H. D.
A meal I went to with my friends was a lovely experience here. The staff were curtious and friendly. The meal was lovely and well presented. I feel we were treated well and we had a memorable time.
M. O.
Great place ,good food ,good for price and very friendly staff
M. P.
Popped in for a drink and a bowl of chips. Nice pub dog friendly. Bar man could have been a bit happier. Not very welcoming.
M. D.
Lovely location and good food
P. D.
Nice location, large venue good service. Food similar to Hungry Horse. Would visit again as really good for any disabled access. Car park large but far away from entrance for none disabled.
S. G.
Hired the function room yesterday for a Christmas family party. It was such great value for money. Lots of variety of food and good quality. The staff were great and very helpful. Would definitely recommend!
S. F.
Large old mill next to the River, lovely looking pub and grounds. Unfortunately a rude and miserable landlady/ manageress half the ale's were off, and she was just stood there on her phone.
First time, and unfortunately the last time that we will be going to that pub.
f. b.
Beautiful place to go. Only negative was they were out of chicken, salmon and sandwiches strangely. But definitely go back it was such a nice place
P. R.
First class service and the food was excellent
J. P.
After travelling from Bristol and having booked a table for 1.30pm with my family, we were told they were running late, an hour later our food arrived, having seen photos of Sunday roast, it was certainly not as I had imagined, I know they were busy, but there is no excuse in serving up broccoli that you couldn't put a knife through, the cauliflower cheese was missing from the lamb roast and when it arrived, it looked as though the cauliflower had just been put under the grill as top was burnt and no cheese , carrots not cooked also, roast potatoes weren't properly roasted, although the setting was beautiful, very disappointing Sunday roast.
certainly can't recommend the roast dinner, perhaps they should concentrate more on the Sunday roast rather then have a lot of other things on menu. I hope all my points will be addressed.
H. T.
Great visit - lovely sea bass salad - nice staff - be back soon 😀
g. s.
Food and drink OK but we had to wait approx 45 mins for a couple of sandwiches.
R. K.
Super location excellent
Menu catering for all
Needs .service superb
Food exceptional.
A. W.
The Sunday roast was fabulous and tasty. Just the right portion of food. Unfortunately there a victim of the our success. We waited the best part of an hour before our food came out, which I had to ask the waitress to check how much longer it was going to take. I think itwould have curtious to have informed customers when ordering, that is how ever long waiting for food. We was just left waiting and wondering if every meal that came out the kitchen was ours.
D.
I arrived early afternoon and was immediately greeted by a very pleasant hostess who explained the Covid safe arrangements in place in a concise, simply and very understandable way 👍. I requested a quiet table for myself as I had some work I needed to do. I was seated at the perfect table overlooking the river and aside from the main area. Perfect 👌. I ordered easily using the app and the drink arrived in good time. Food was alright! I only had a simple burger but it was cooked right and rather well presented. Onion rings were the only issue as they were in a sweet batter! Not my thing but it was interesting. Fries were good too. I didn't have desert. The whole restaurant seemed clean and very welcoming, even during the quiet time. Thank you see you soon!
a. t.
Great pub for family meals and a good carvery. Lots of space and plenty of choice. Good range of ales and wine. We love the riverside setting and quaint old mill without the pretentious Cotswold set.
D. S.
Stumbled upon this pub when the traffic on the motorway was bad....
What a find!
Stunning building and clearly a lot of history about it.
Used the app which worked like a dream. Everything turned up super quick.
We had a couple of starters, a gourmet burger, and a lovely steak! Cooked beautifully!
Team were attentive and friendly.
Hopefully the traffic will be rubbish again and I'll call in!
M. H.
I had my birthday at this gorgeous venue yesterday, Sarah, the manager, was amazing.
In the week prior to Sunday she asked if we would like the private dining room.... Bearing in mind that 8+newborn of my grandchildren were attending the party. Wonderful greetings from her team, very professional but relaxed service bearing in mind the breadth of age groups... And the food 🍲..
To die for... Seriously having worked in catering for the majority of my **years it cheers me up so much to know that this style of service and quality of food is available on our doorstep in Gloucester /Stroud /Cheltenham area.... I think what I'm trying to say is that you have got to sample this gem 💎 of an establishment in the cotswolds.... Thank you again Sarah and all your team.
c. w.
Good food, good beer and very nice staff
K. B.
Bit disappointing. Salad wilted, everything seemed microwaved.
T. P.
Nice pub. Staff seemed off and non responsive to conversation
D. M.
Well since its not a carvery anymore the food has gone up in standard and has greatly improved, its nice atmosphere and lovely surroundings and the roast dinner you can get now on a Sunday are to die for only thing I would change to make it even better is to have table service to order food and drink 🙂
C. W.
As always a good trip. Queuing for food was not so great as it meant I spent so much time away from the people I was with
s. j.
Good surroundings and atmosphere...not very fast service..meals good .expensive
E. W.
Easily accessed off the A38, plenty safe car parking, soothing water music from the waterfall and open barn-like restaurant and bar. Extensive menu, very reasonable prices, and food prepared to order. Hard working staff provide friendly service. Very happy experience.
B. S.
I had a fish finger goujons sandwich and the chips were the star of the show really nice chips I would come back just for the chips and I thought it was nice that you could sit by the water and eat your delicious food the staff were ok.
J. W.
Lovely atmosphere, great food.
F. B.
Many thanks to Sarah, Tracy & Sacha for serving up a 50 person deluxe buffet for our Dads wake. The food was lovely & everyone had a good platefull & even some left over to take home. Thankyou to all the staff

My Regular place for meeting up half way with my bestie. Very handy place just off M5, easy to find and plenty of spaces to park. Nice setting with tables outside which is lovely in the summer when the sun shines!
Staff are very friendly and helpful. Overall recommended.
G. A.
Nice venue, friendly staff, quick service, bit pricey , 4 out of 5 meals were good but asked for medium steak and it was burnt on the outside, offered kids desserts as apology but didn't have time.
T. G.
My first visit to Fromebridge Mill for a meet-up with old school chums. The environment was perfect not too pokey, the food was delicious at a reasonable price. Would certainly go again and recommend to friends if they have not already tried it. 👍
I. B.
Went to have a few drinks sat outside its a lovely place was great listening to the water fall will try the food on our next visit
M. L.
Had Atlantic cod xwhitby scampi was very nice next visit we had hunters chicken not so nice average but also a overnight stay in carpark is available for campervans and motor homes 10 pound per night all proceeds go to cancer reserve 😀

Fantastic location at the end of a private road... the food and service were spot on event though they had a large wake reception to cayer for... well done ✔ all of you.... it won't be my last visit here 😋

M. A.
Great atmosphere and good menu with loads of options. Would highly recommend.

Fantastic location and friendly staff. It’s a Green king facility therefore they’re good fare is pub standard for good value. I haven’t been for ages so the recent visit was most welcome. The setting is really lovely and I’m sure that you will enjoy your time there.
M. C.
Absolutely beautiful place ! Lovely and friendly staff . I would recommend going if you haven't already.
P. M.
Visited for lunch on Monday, staff friendly and safe surroundings.. Was a bit dissapointed with food, chicken was only warm, brownie was red hot.. Maybe the microwave was having an off day..!!! Visited here before with no problems, nice venue..
S. M.
Great place. We were staying near by and wanted a nice place to eat one evening. This ticked all the boxes. Lovely place, view, waitress and food without being very expensive.
P. S.
Good pub with good standard fare food. Good staff too.
A. S.
Great food and excellent service.
J. H.
loved the food, just needed abit of a dusting but otherwise beautiful place
J. “. P.
Service was slow, which could be due to staff shortage, but food was below par, very chewy grisly stake, small portion for the price. This place has been alot better in the past, maybe down to new owners who i beleive is Greenking.
I. P.
I know its an old building but the interior furnishings are old and tatty with dead flies collected in lampshades and non matching patches on the seat upholstery. Staff friendly but often the choice of beers is limited. IPA or Abbot Ale but rarely both available
S. R.
We went to Fromebridge on a Sunday and I had the lamb Sunday roast. The food was good, filling and delicious. The lamb was cooked perfectly. The staff were helpful and friendly.
B. A.
Great Greene King pub. Good service, clean (tables wiped down well after previous customer) and reliable as ever. Good vegan choices too, all at a reasonable price.
p. l.
Lovely place, very good service and food, we come here often, last visit was at 3pm and it really wasn't warm enough, in fact we were not alone in wearing top coats, green issues!!! Otherwise full marks for value.
s. b.
Pub was very cold. Most people still had coats on. Food was passable but not great.
D. R.
A lack of care about covid, unfortunately. A desk to report to, and to be shown to your tables but the guys behind the bar just told people to 'come on in and feel free to sit anywhere'. Not good.
Our food was nice,so that's a plus!
A.
Our first time visiting today & will definitely be returning. Busy on arrival. We had a carvery & really enjoyed it. We thought that we'd be waiting a little while as the queue for the carvery was quite long but we weren't waiting for long at all. Good selection off the sunday menu for those not wanting a carvery. Lovely place with plenty of seating. Will definitely be back !
J. H.
Very friendly pub,good service.
M. H.
Always had good food here,
N. E.
Fantastic staff couldn't do enough to help us. Totally amazing
D. H.
Went for a lunch a few weeks ago, disappointed on no carvery. What we ordered was more than enough to eat.
C. C.
Food was AMAZING. The views to the channel: amazing. Car park: nice and quiet. Bartenders: lovely.
What a wonderful place to go. Highly recommended.
A. H.
Food was great, staff very friendly...just seemed to take an age between each course, but then they seemed quite short of staff ?
J.
Staff were really nice & hardworking. We found the beef on the carvery was tough. Turkey was really nice & tender. Veg was hugely overcooked. Would have paid extra if it meant having fresh veg. The building is stunning!
B. B.
Rude lady behind the bar and portion of soup didn't even fill a third of the bowl! Decent fish sandwich though
S. B.
Lovely food, beautiful surroundings
S. M.
The food quality is exceptional, really nice. The staff were really friendly, although not too responsive, however they respected Covid-19 guidelines better than any other pubs I've been to, following a one way system correctly, tables spaced out perfectly, and of course masks too. The food prices seemed moderate, it wasn't overly expensive, however its not cheap either, it's the kind of place you go to as a family for a meal. The location is cute too, surrounded by a river. And the building is fairly big, and has that classical pub/Inn look. The interior was unique and stylish as well, however it can cause paranoia if you're sitting underneath the rack with the wheels on it, it doesn't look unstable, but you never know. Generally I enjoyed my time here, I would recommend especially if you're with a family.
p. f.
Nice location and outside area. Burger was mediocre, too much on menu.
A. H.
Have been here few times before today and found the carvery very tasty, not so good this evening, dried out roast potatoes were hard, veg over cooked. We got there about 630pm and the food just seemed to of been out for hours getting dried out. The staff are friendly and helpful though. Won't being go back in a rush as was disappointed with today's food on offer.
M. v. B.
Lovely area and a beautiful building. Enjoyed a tasty carvery - a bit pricey for my liking hence only 4 stars.
Waiting staff a bit forgetful as I asked twice about getting a high chair for our toddler but had to grab one myself in the end.
S. D.
Great meal Dog friendly.
S. N.
Excellent food and service ... more than we could eat. We could even stay in the carpark overnight for a £10 donation to Macmillan Cancer Care.
W. H.
Lovely friendly staff, great place to relax.
V.
The food is nice but the queue for the carvery is long. If they had two people carving the meat at a bigger counter then it would get people through quicker. The waiters and waitresses do a good of keeping tables clean and cleared.
M. B.
Fantastic, enjoyed every minute.A great 80th birthday party with my family staff were also fabulous,so was the food
H. E.
Beautiful setting, pub food & carvery. Huge queue for drinks which you cannot order from your table. More bar staff required to cope with the drinks, the food orders & payment. The waitresses literally just deliver the food on plates that look too heavy for them to carry!
Give me proper table service any day.
D. K.
Told food was half hour wait turned up just over an hour later. Kids pasta hard as been sat under the hotplate for so long. Service really slow, ordered a coke and nothing arrived so ended up going to the bar myself to reorder it. Only upside was the 50% government offer. So 50% off means 50% service 😕 food was ok nothing to shout about.
G. S.
Nice quiet resteraunt food was good and cooked just right
J. F.
I have had several meals here and on the last visit I had a Sunday lunch. The meat and veg choices were very good, however I felt that the veg was from frozen packs as they all tasted a bit rubbery especially the carrots. I may be wrong but then on the day the veg quality not quantity was poor.
K. W.
Stayed in campervan overnight and had a meal in the evening. Great place to stop for a drink or meal and for us a great stopover on a trip to Devon. Very dog friendly too. £10 Donation to Macmillan for overnight motorhome parking.
A. R.
Excellent in all respects, except having to queue when ordering drinks and food. Bring back table service, or at least have dedicated bar staff. No WiFi signal so unable to even use app.
H. “. W.
The mill was amazing and the food was excellent and well worth waiting for we used the app and so the drinks were a bit slower than the table service but overall a lovely evening will definitely be back.
M. M.
Friendly, comfortable and welcoming. Generous helpings of very tasty food - that was the Sunday roast at 9.99 or 11.99 depending on how greedy you're feeling, but I'm sure it's just as good on other days. Our party ranged in age from 8 to 75 and everyone had a good time.
Z. C.
A lovely place to go in lovely weather as there is outdoor seating. On the day we went there was only 1 person serving, 1 person running food and it was a bit of a mess. I couldn't locate a children meal and to ask for one. The tables were filthy as well as the highchairs! Luckily I had brought a new packet of wipes with me. The highchairs definitely needed some TLC as it was partially falling apart. The carvery was busy as usual but had a big queue. Our food took 40 minutes to come and the fish and chips was nothing special. Watery and tastless fish and the batter was soggy and gluey. No check was done at all and we left. We definitely won't be returning anytime soon.
C. M.
A good meal and nice venue.
S. M.
Attended a family wake here today. Very tasty buffet, extremely friendly and helpful staff. Beautifully decorated. Definately recommend.
L. E.
Queue's were massive and we had to wait a while to be served, but this was understandable as they had an unexpected mass of people arrive due to the local half marathon. Maybe because of this they could of employed a table service instead of people having to order at the bar and queue for nearly half an hour.
That said, the staff were lovely and apologized once we were served. The pub is beautiful with a lush view. We had the carvery, and the food was lovely. Would visit again and would definitely recommend. Just maybe when it's a little less busy.
R. S.
A very nice carvery meal. The chef was so nice, as was our server. The roadworks are horrible but manageable and in nice weather it's beautiful to sit outside by the weir. The car park and drive really need resurfacing!
l. k.
Good value Sunday carvery! I'd recommend booking a table and be prepared to wait in line for the carvery between 12:00 and 15.00 as it gets very busy.
The food (carvery) was very good, the veg was refreshed regularly and there was vegie gravy for non meat eaters or just for a change. My only criticism would be that the turkey was a bit dry as was the stuffing ball (but not inedible).
I. S.
I've stopped 3 times there, all been a great experience it's pub food reasonable priced and the staff are with out attitude, an enjoyable moment. You can stay the night with motor home caravan self contained along as you give something back. Spend money in the pub.
J. R.
Food and surroundings very nice. However I was disappointed when it came to my request for sauces, it took 10 minutes to provide tomate sauce and mayonaise. This meant that my food was getting cold.
G. P.
Had a nice carvery lunch which I considered to be good value. Although I did think the drinks were a bit on the pricey side. It was lunch time and we never booked but we still managed to get a table for 6. The staff were friendly. We would go again.
S. P.
Great food, value for money. Friendly service.
N.
Didn't want to go in when I noticed it was a green king pub.as my local green king pub is at best a shambles ..but I went in and had a good time a fantastic meal (fish and chips)cooked to perfection. And to top it all the lady who served us was a mature stunner xx♥️🤓👍
J. G.
Carvery was lovely, we ordered coffee with a cake, the coffee came without the cake so we were disappointed as we had drunk our coffees and still had a wait for cake to arrive. Understand they were busy but we would have waited for the coffee so that it could have been served together with the cake as displayed on the menu
C. P.
We booked just for drinks, were welcomed warmly and ordered easily using the Greene King app. Note that the location is wrong on Google Maps - the entrance is off the roundabout on the A38 (Bristol Road) not off the quiet country lane we were sent down..
C. B.
Lovely food. Lack of staff meant we weren't rushed, so bonus. Recommended
E. H.
Had a lovely meal there. Would highly recommend their signature pies absolutely gorgeous. Friendly staff, hardworking definitely will return. Thank you x
R. D.
Setting is great, prices and staff too. Service or food preparation was slow, and quality was ok but not brill. Sadly, probably won't go back as was pretty much the same last time, just before March 2020... Shame...
N. K.
Very busy, under staffed, long queue at bar, Food was okay, not to pricey, Would I go back... No.
P. “. C.
First time we called in here though we have driven past so many times in the last 25 years. We had the carvery which was really nice and the beef just melted in your mouth. The vegetables had a good selection and the gravy was nice. The reason why we gave it 4 stars was the veg and gravy was not very warm, in fairness we were one of the last ones in for the carvery, and the table could have done with a wipe down. But all said it was well worth a visit and we won't be waiting 25 years to call in again.
N. B.
Pub food at very reasonable prices.
P. A.
Great food, lovely setting will definitely go again.
K. R.
Lovely location. Lovely food and very good service. Ollie and team were fantastic. We visited recently in July and we had a lovely meal and great service. Thank you.
B. L.
At least once a month we visit for the carvery on a Sunday evening. I understand that it is very popular and a high turn over of food but recently the veg has been a diced mix of frozen swede and carrots.. I could turn this out from the remnants of my own freezer, so when I go out I want something better especially as the standard carvery has also gone up a pound. However today tho the diced mix was still on offer the broccoli and sprouts were good. The bar system queuing to order is tedious and disordered and tho the coffee states it comes with a delicious piece of shortbread it rarely does and its not worth complaining as it's no bigger than your thumbnail. The previous owners used to serve a delicious piece of fudge which was worth getting but again you rarely did. All said and done It is a lovely pub and beautiful setting in the summer and the staff are pleasant.
g. w.
Just had a 2 course meal from the new spring menu. Sharing platter to start. Salmon for my wife & Sirloin steak for me. Well presented and tasty throughout. I asked for medium steak but was well done. Still tasted nice. Final bill was amazing with the 30 % reduction, promotion til 29th. Only came to £24, that £12 each. Fantastic value.
M. P.
Lovely food! Unfortunately there was no carvery! But the staff made us feel welcomed and good table service
J. P.
Good value for good quality food. Nice location. Service was also great.
We will definitely return.
N. H.
Was bloody lovely thanks everyone x
t. G.
Good place to eat.good choice of food.staff are very helpful.i would recommend 7/10
d. G.
Lovely location sat by the water the food and service was superb..
G. N. (.
Pretty average Greene Pub with the same menu. Nice setting let down by poor beer and only adequate food.
S. H.
We opted for the menu rather than carvery. We both had pork sausages on champ mash, which was delicious. Unfortunately the vegetables were old - they were certainly not fresh, very limp and barely warm. The shredded cabbage was brown in places - more rotten at the edges rather than “caught” on a hot pan, and the tenderstem broccoli was almost unrecognisable. In fact the vegetables actually looked like leftovers. We asked for them to be reheated as they were so cool. The sticky toffee pudding had burnt undertones and the custard served in small individual jugs was also asked to be reheated as it was also served barely warm. We visited on a Tuesday lunchtime. It was very quiet. We won’t visit midweek again. We have eaten here before but always when busy and always the carvery. If it wasn’t for the sausages and champ mash they would have been awarded 1 star - the minimum. It’s unfortunate that you have to pay in advance for the meal.
N. W.
Good experience food good staff friendly
D. T.
Plenty of parking space, seating areas. Friendly staff and fairly quick food delivery. Reasonable prices and agood location not far of the motorway.
K. P.
Sadly gone down hill. Not Carvery anymore and the food is mediocre at best
E. P.
No carvery now, although the roast was still not late.
r. g.
We could eat outside as we were 6 people from 4 households. But honestly? Do they want business or not. Can you get a waiter when you want one? And half the dishes were "off" such as roast pork... and how long to get a waiter to get the bill? Ludicrous. Why can't these businesses employ the many many unemployed that are around? It would make the experience and the ratings higher
T. L.
Lovely pub/restaurant in the countryside.
Has a lovely river running past the building and has a very large car park and lots of outside seating.
Good menu with a large range of food however at the time of review there are no vegan options - only if you were to swap some items on one of the vegetarian meals.
Have had a couple of birthday events here that were catered very well.
The only thing I think is poor is that they don’t do table services under any circumstances so for every meal or drink you need to go to the bar which is a little bit annoying if you are in a large group.
S. U.
Good carvery and very popular. Suggest you try to avoid potential hot spot times if possible. However, the wait is worth it.
I have given only 4 stars because room cleanliness has declined since my last visit. The tables were disinfected but the floor at this visit was disgusting. A one off hopefully.
C. K.
Had Christmas day lunch there and although the chef had left a few days beforehand, the staff did a splendid job. The gravy is to die for
S. W.
What a great night. We were looked after so well by our waitress Katie, she was so helpful and informative and she could not have been more accommodating. The food and drink was really first class, thanks Katie and all the staff.
Stan from Derbyshire

Fantastic, friendly service. Stopped over in the camper for a night. Peaceful location and the food was delicious. Would highly recommend
C. H.
Absolutley brilliant. Booked a table for 20 people and they delivered very well. Very accommodating. Food served quickly, and the carvery was superb. Good beer, great atmosphere. Will be returning soon.
J. W.
Food good during very busy service. Analogy data in two poorly organised ring back folders with some 25 pockets with 2 to 3 sheets in each. Took 15 minutes at the pay till to find that the fish batter was dairy free
J. R.
I would not recommend the Sunday Roast... poor quality compared to other local places, however very nice surroundings for a drink
Update: having spoken with the assistant manager (sorry bad line so missed the name)... very pleased with the customer service; had a good discussion around our visit and received an explanation an apology... thank you 😊
J. R.
Good food, reasonable priced full menu.. friendly staff..
Felt SAFE there.. hygiene good..
Thank You to Jes, & colleagues x

We went for Xmas Day and our table was fortunate that we had all the courses we wanted but it was not the same for everyone .It was clear there were not enough staff and those working were under pressure from clients who were waiting ages for Xmas meal and some didnt even get a single course. People lost their cool, staff were in tears and some left on Xmas day having nothing to eat.Our meal took 3 hours , but management should reflect on the lack of staffing on duty and what could have been a wonderful experience sadly wasnt for a number of people including the staff.

.
Always a warm welcome. and great platefuls of food!
I come regularly from London to visit relatives nearby and go each time to the Fromebridge Mill. Enormous helpings of tasty food in very pleasant surroundings. Superb value for money - I ask myself each time how they can make any money on what they charge us.
But the outstanding feature is the quality of the service that the staff provide.
They are friendly, courteous, helpful - a delight to deal with them. Whatever it is that the manager does in Staff selection and training ,he does extremely well, and other managers could learn from him.
We come and come again to this great pub.

b. h.
Whilst the food was ok and the service was good. It is worth noting that this is no longer a carvery.
E.
Over crowded, people crammed in to tables that are too close together, not good if you suffer from anxiety. That being said the carvery is good value for money, and as long as you get there when it is fresh, is quite tasty. Just be prepared to stand in a queue for 20 minutes or more.
D. G.
Lovely old building and setting on the riverside, with small waterfall so lovely on a sunny day. Nice bar left as you go in with old mill equipment on show.main dining area lacks character but pleasant none the less. Very popular early dinner spot and waiting times can be 45min for food. Carvery or menu selection of standard fare...steaks, burgers, fish & chips, lamb shank etc
J. T.
Food good. Organisation bad.Booked online. Not transferred to there bookings book.So no table reserved. Carvery service painfully slow.Staff harassed which made them surly.Ordered our sweets.Told there was a 30min.wait.45mins later asked for our money back and left.Very disappointed. Been there several times before. But they are so understaffed now..I can't see us returning. That's 7 meals lost.
k. W.
6 of us had an evening meal last Friday, stayed overnight in our motor homes. Had a nice quiet night. Went in the following morning and had a full English breakfast. Lovely food, great service, good price and value. We will definitely be returning.
M. T.
Long wait for food despite us pre booking the table. Only 4 of us so not a large party. Creamy fish pie wasn't at all creamy sadly. Dry on top, watery in the bottom. The 3 other meals were good although a battered mushroom turned out to be a battered scampi hiding in amongst the expected mushrooms!
C. K.
Very lovely place for a meal busy too. The food was really nice carvery. Staff very friendly and helpful as a free elderly persons on our group. Will go again.
J. B.
Stayed for a overnight stay in a Motorhome.
Beautiful spot near River with other MH's
£10 to stay donated to Macmillan.
Service and food was brilliant. Staff very freindly, used the Green King App..
Would highly recommend
F. C.
Have been here quite a few times now and have never had a bad experience. Food is good and the atmosphere is very pleasant
R. O.
I’ve recently discovered this lovely pub and I can’t praise it enough, the staff are amazing and friendly, my most recent trip I was served by a gentleman named Tom and he made me feel very welcome and like it was my local, couldn’t praise this pub any higher
k. G.
wonderful views, fantastic gardens, comfortable restaurant area.
Food was great and very reasonably priced it would have been a 5 star, but we were out on a works meal and subjected to a charity bucket held up to each member of staff which made everybody feel pressurized to give !
At the end of the night the barman brought a bucket to end of table to give to another charity, to his credit he was more discrete and left it with us to return.
However not what you want on a relaxing evening out, shame the first charity could not have been so discrete. Twice in one meal is a bit much.
J. S.
Our carvery of choice. Better food quality than the two Toby restaurants in Gloucester. The bar and restaurant staff are very welcoming and the East European Carvery staff are lovely when you are polite to them. They also are more generous with the meat than Toby. All they need to do is get their Yorkshire Puddings super sized! Lovely surroundings too.
A. B.
Carvery here on a weekend is cheap and the food is great. Even cheaper in the week. Get there for about 12pm other wise you'll be queuing out the door. It is a very popular place due to the how good the food is and the value you get. Have been here many times before and will continue to keep coming here!
c. c.
A lovely and quiet place Sunday dinner are great and staff are brilliant
B. C.
Everything was organised to cope with social distancing. The staff were eceptionally helpful and friendly and happy, and were constantly checking that we were ok and did we need anything else. The meal was very good and hot and well presented. The toilets were spotless. We will definitely return. Many thanks to them all. Tony,Bev and Di.
M. D.
We visited here in our campervan. We were able to stopover for the night for a donation to Macmillan. Had lunch, dinner and breakfast. All superb! Friendly staff, good Covid-19 safety measures in place. Lovely location, convenient for M5. Can't fault it.
S. H.
We are camping near by and stopped off for a drink.
Very pretty pub. Carvery looked lovely.
Not the cheapest of bars but the beauty of.it made it worthwhile. Food prices seemed reasonable
D. B.
A friendly welcome from the staff at the Fromebridge Mill. A lovely range of food on the menu as well as a carvery. Nice selection of real ales, wine and non-alcoholic drinks. Our food came quickly, was nicely presented and delicious.
l. w.
Great place for a drink and a nice meal u can sit inside and sit outside
Price is great

Birthday gathering Sat 28 Sept 19, been several times for different celebrations, until now a favoured venue. Had tables 8 n 9 for 8 of us, first thing was the lack of regard to the smoking law,
Smokers were allowed to smoke in the porch the stench of there smoke was present in the bar and certainly in our are.
Big fan of there Carvery until now, always well priced and value for money, so I queued for 10 mins to buy 2 Carvey to find that they are now each £2 more expensive than my last visit. Proceeded to the queue for the Carvery to find no one in attendance for 4 minutes, noticed meats all present but practically no veg was available finally 15 minutes later we were told that due to a staff shift change there was no fresh veg or roasters for 5 minutes.
Final outcome was a very poor quality meal, meat Ok but the rest was either very tired, or rush cooked (dehydrated or not cooked) if that is what is dished up for £9.99 I think Wetherspoon have just one me back.
R. R.
Excellent food and drink at moderate prices. Disabled access with wheelchairs.. Only one area of a vast area is not wheelchair friendly. Also pet friendly in one area. Huge car park and lovely views.
D. B.
Great food and wide choice of drinks. Dog friendly area inside (and ‘Dog Bar’ outside) which you can also order food to which is great. Lovely location and plenty of outdoor seating. Food can often take between 45 mins and an hour when busy and service at the bar can often be slow with only one or two people serving.
T. R.
Very good meal and attentive staff. Lovely styling and surrounding just lacked a little atmosphere due to there not being many people in the place. A real shame as the last tome we were here a couple of years ago the place was buzzin'.
K. T.
Lovely pub in a beautiful location, welcoming and friendly staff, excellent 5* food....the only problem that lets the pub down is some of the decor. The carpets definitely need renewing as they had been pulled up underneath our table so weren't sitting flat and they all seemed a bit worn.
Also the toilets to the left of the bar were not suitable at all for the public. I'm assuming they might have been staff toilets but even so, they just felt uncomfortable, cold, dark, a bit dirty, and one of the doors didn't lock shut - so that would definitely need renovating. And if they're not going to do that, they shouldn't label the door for people to wander through.
However, my brother went into the toilets to the right of the bar and said those were perfectly fine, clean and well maintained. So I definitely wandered into the staff toilets which was a shame because that experience and the carpets really let this beautiful, well run pub down 😕
S. R.
Great restaurant good food
R. b.
Great food here and lovely people to serve you. Stay overnight with your motorhome in their extensive car park provided you patronise the pub. Easy access from the Bristol road. Peaceful nights sleep.
N. K.
We stopped for a quick Sunday carvery. We got a table and ordered from the bar had our ticket and joined the Que 1hour later we sat down to eat our food. Which I have to say was good. I don't know if this is usual for a Sunday but it is the first time I have ever waited in a que that long for a caravry. Shame
M. R.
Nice pub to stop at after a paddle
G. R.
A lovely setting. Friendly staff and nice pub food. Ordered off the menu which was good. Will have to try the carvery next time as I hear it's pretty good
C. H.
Old building with character. Entry is picturesque, via a bridge over the River Frome with waterfall. Very good selection of food and drink with added carvery. It also has plenty of outside tables. Handily, it's only a few hundred yards away off junction 13 on M5. Go towards A38 and go straight across roundabout into pub's private road (not shown on road sign). Look for two wartime brick pillboxes, one on way in and one coming out, each one on left hand side.
L. E.
Prompt service, very busy, good value for a large family party and kind to my messily eating grandson!
Beef very overcooked, Yorkshire hard and sprouts soggy, almost inevitable with the time food hangs around and I should have known better, good gravy and ok roasties.
Well situated on busy A road, plenty of parking, overall a nice lunch session.
J. B.
Great value for money. Wide variety of meals, all tasty and respectable quantity. Staff very friendly. Always very busy rather like a geriatric ward. The bar is extremely well stocked. We use it twice a mnth.
M. H.
Had a lovely meal there today, used the app to order our meals, the drinks came out first and the meals afterwards.
Will go again
A. B.
An alright pub with good food and have carvery on everyday. Drinks are definitely more expensive than average (Peroni currently at £4.85). They always seem to have a 45min-1hr wait time for food, and bar is somewhat understaffed.
A. H.
Birthday meal with family, we mainly ate carvery and the meal was really good, one of the best carveries we have ever been too. The staff were amazingly helpful and very courteous, we highly recommend and will go again soon.
N. H.
Food and prices were good. It was quaint with an old world feel. Staff were lovely but thought that the bar staff left the new lady to manage on her own was unhelpful as there were lots of people to serve that night. Unfortunately I was sat in a draft and got a chill but that was not the fault of the place.
C. S.
Really busy when we were there. They were very professional and food was lovely.
R. B.
Atmospheric old building with a nice view over the Weir. The food was excellent once it arrived but the service was very very slow. In fairness this was the week before Christmas and we were one of several large parties so the poor service was understandable to a degree and I would be prepared to go back and try it again.
S. W.
A Lovely Summer Sunday with my Mum. Had the Salmon on a bed of Roast Vegetables. Yummy apart from the Butternut Squash being Under cooked. Took my Puppy Buster and they Even had a Doggy Bar with Water and Biscuits. Stunning Scenery and I'll Definitely be going Again.
E. M. C. S.
Come here often for lunch, the food is always good quality and reasonably priced. The carvery is really good and excellent price. Nice bar and lovely outdoor seating in the summer
L. P.
We arrived on opening for some brunch it wasn't very clean as when I pulled my chair our there was some chips on the floor and my seat... My partner had the carvery and said he couldn't fault it and the meat was lovely. My food was nice however I found pastry really doey on the inside. Lovely friendly staff.
S. C.
If you want a bog standard drink and lunch as a stop off from the M5 then this just about does the job. We live not far but decided to eat out today on the way back from shopping but won’t be visiting again.
A minimum of 45 mins wait for the food you ordered was an issue, the poor cleanliness of the tables another, I dare not mention the state of the gents toilets but I’ve seen better street ones. The bar was incredibly slow, as only one person was serving most of the time.
Then after a long but advised wait for our food, our patience was rewarded with something is expect from a Boy Scout’s attempt over a camp fire. Chips (if they can be called that) were undercooked and of no taste whatsoever, the burgers that my wife and I had were hard as wood and burnt, the “coleslaw” which was described as a relish was revolting.
My daughter faired slightly better with her sausages and chips, though the latter was as bad as what we had.
The staff however were good, friendly and helpful, which paved the way to a three out of five rating, but we’ll not visit again and certainly will never be recommending to friends and family.
K. L.
Fun venue for a Christmas party
A. W.
Lovely family meal today, smashing roast. Really friendly staff and great atmosphere, highly recommended. Sarah Willis
S. H.
Really nice Sunday carvery generous helping of meat and plenty of vegetable choices. Would of got 5 stars but totally over priced children squash £1.05 for a 1/3 of a pint with 5 children I felt totally ripped off for their drink
E. D.
Great for a sunday carvery. Super food well cooked & plentiful. Good value for money & good choice of beers & wines & non alcoholic drinks. Great puddings too. All this in a realy nice setting of an old converted mill with the river frome flowing through the grounds. Highly recommended.
C. H.
Stayed as a stop over in motorhome like other reviews locations lovely food not bad passable but was very busy staff run off there feet but all in all would call again
J. w.
Lovely location, good pub food. Friendly staff.
C. C.
Pub stop close to m.5 plenty of overnight parking. £10 but money goes to mc millan charity. Good food friendly staff.
S.
Fantastic food and service. Cov19 safe. Thank you team for making our gathering happy and enjoyable.
G. Y.
The setting is amazing with seating outdoors as well. Kids also have space to run around after the meal outside which is great. Plenty of parking space. I've heard they are known for their Carvery with huge queues on Sundays. Price range: ££ - £££
A. H.
Lovely food and beautiful outdoors seating area
C. W.
Lovely pub in an old converted mill with some of the original water mill workings left on display. Great views and the carvery is very nice and good value. But be prepared to queue.
M. O.
Great location and excellent food. Could do with another couple of bar staff. Can fully recommend.
A. K.
Excellent food. The chips were amazing - light, crunchy, perfectly cooked and the battered fish was outstanding. I will definitely return. Reasonable prices and friendly staff - picturesque location.
L. M.
The bar man was very helpful. Carvery was a very very long queue. Could do with more than one person carving meat at busy times. Food good.
D. J.
This place lives in my memory as an excellent carvery just off the motorway. It is a Greene King pub/restaurant. I don't know if it always was. My visit wasn't quite as successful as hoped BUT one of the staff went above and beyond to put things right. The carvery I had was brilliant, although frustratingly the bell used to call the chef didn't work and I stood around too long next to those very hot lights on a very warm day. This needs fixing. We needed water (from our journey) and whilst tap water was available, it was not cold and no sign of ice. This needs fixing. The vegan meal was a distaster.. You fixed this! (Very happy). In my opinion, that dish should not be on the menu. It looked unappetising and appalling vfm. I will write to Greene King on your behalf. Generally, I think you have some work to do on making really rather good food look better. So - in many ways I should give you 5 stars but either you or Greene King need to do a little work. I will certainly come again. I genuinely wish you luck. To anyone who has read this far - it's a beautiful place with great staff. They need your support. Go there! Please.

£5 rump steak, salad and jacket potato was great. Cannot beat that value for money. Resturant and bar area always clean looking unfortunatley toilets always let the place down, cannot lock door on one the other has no lock, cannot say about toilets carvery end didnt visit that one.

We go up Fromebridge Mill pretty much every week for a meal and we love it, The roast dinners are always the best when cooked by Terry, he cooks the meat so unbelievably tender and beats most chefs around here for your Sunday dinner (or mon, tues, weds, thurs, fri, sat dinner 😂) you are guaranteed to leave stuffed and he even sent me home with some scraps for my bulldog.
The staff are all very friendly and down the Earth, so it’s a lovely place for a chilled out meal in a beautiful old building and lovely surroundings.

It was lovely but due to not being able to get deliveries there was quite a lot of food on the menue not available but having said that it was still very good 👍

We had to wait over an hour to get our food. However we were offered free deserts as a way of an apology. Good quality food - but I wouldnt say it was worth waiting that long for.

We won't be going back. It has really gone down hill. Food got cold quickly and veg all seemed to be cooked from frozen. Parsnips and meats were OK thankfully.

Nice old mill building, love the inside and a really nice carvery, but the ques let it down, waited 25 minutes at the bar to get a drink and order food ( ended up buying 2 drinks at a time as couldnt be bother to que again), then you have to que again for another 20 minute for your carvery. If you go on a sunday leave it till gone 2pm

I felt it was a nice cosy chilling place to be, with a waterfall and lots of green all around. Inside a remodeled celar turned into a lounge dining room. Amazing. My advice would be having plants like citronela around so it would be less annoying insects. Apart from that, nothing to say. Nice fish and chips over there

I luv this place.food is great,my only moan would be the chap carving the meat, man with glasses so bloody slow, all ways long queue when he is on,little short dark haired chap brilliant, cuts the meat and very efficient and so much quicker when he is on.
Otherwise this is a 5 star place to eat and fabulous surroundings

Change the menu since I last went but it has made the food a lot better. Even though it is a bit smaller portions. Also, the service was brilliant
