L. S.Food was delicious! Service was fast. 2 for 1 deals which wasn't bad. Good sized portions. Over all, happy with the establishment.
BUT, the hassle to pay for parking over the phone was enough to make me drive away and I nearly did. Went to find a payment meter and it had an "out of order" sign on. I nearly cried. Apart from that, I would recommend it here!

J. B.Fantastic steak and wine offer on Tuesdays. I have been and has a sirloin and my wife had the rump. Cooked to perfection and amazing service. A friendly warm place that literally accommodates for everyone including dogs with a menu of their own.
D. C.5* service and food. For somebody who is not comfortable in restaurants or pubs, I was made to feel very welcome. The cheese pie was unbelievable my Chicken salad there was so much of it they even gave me a box to take it home. Fresh ingredients prepared very well. My husband had the jam sponge and custard wow 👌 will definitely be going back.
C. B.The High Orchard is a very welcoming and relaxed place to take your family, dog or date! Staff are amazing, friendly and always give a warm welcome! They will always go the extra mile to be sure your experience is the best. It's affordable but great quality and if you fancy a deliciously cook steak then would highly recommend Tuesday's which is "Steak & wine" night from 5pm, two steaks and a bottle of wine for an amazing £25!! Or Thursdays are quiz night! Such fun! And great prizes!
V. W.We had a table of 6. The food came fairly quickly. The service was good. The bar man was very friendly. Most of the dishes were hot but I had fish and chips which was only warm and the batter was a bit over done.
P. M.We had to wait on entry as the welcomer was engaged with a seated client. No particular issue. His computer system was down but as it was quiet he found us a table.
We ordered a beer, a tonic water, lasagne and hunters chicken. Delivery of the food was a little slow given it was quiet, but the food was hot and very good.

T. L.Fantastic evening at the High orchard quiz night! So funny and a good night all round! Staff, Chiquitita and Courtney were very smiley and friendly, they had good banter between themselves too which was lovely to see in a work place! They kept on top of everything! Food was delicious, hunters chicken and pasta alfedo with chicken is highly recommended! Am hoping to go back for the steak and wine offer on Tuesday and will definitely be returning for the quiz!

g. V.First of all, this is a typical english pub. And I never expected such a place to have so many vegan options.
They serve the moving mountains burger, and many other options which were very acceptable.
The service is not very good, you have to pick up your food from the counter and it took them ages to prepare it.
I’m giving them 3 stars as I’m glad to be able to have so many vegan options in this kind of pub. Thanks guys! But I think you should improve the service...

L. A.Offered a good 2 4 1 deal. Polite and efficient bar staff. High base meal prices. None of my party (4) rated the food higher than a 6/10. No major faults though. Good location and parking. Was a 20/25 minute wait time on the day we visited. Was not busy on this day.

Went back today. Food was better this time however there were ants on our table. By ants I'm referring to in excess of 15. We moved tables within the same room and surprisingly, though less, ants were on that table too. We stayed for our food, I had the ultimate beef burger for £11.55 which I would definitely get again, if I were to return.

A. T.Went for the Sunday carvery a couple of weeks ago with my daughter and son in law who have been before. They kept telling me how good the food and service was. They were correct. The vegetables were perfect, great choice of meats and vegetables. Deserts were lovely. Rachel who served us was brilliant and couldn't have been more helpful, especially to me. Will definitely be going again and highly recommend The High Orchard to anyone.

A kid's Menu and highchairs available although we didn't use it.

S. B.On Sunday evening the atmosphere was very pleasant and enjoyable. Arrival was smooth enough, met at entrance and sat to our table promptly. Ample car parking. Staff were in the main very helpful and friendly. Easy enough to order food either at bar or from table via a QR Code and app. Had the carvery, good choice of meats 🍖 👌 and ample choice of self help vegetables. All in all very good and quite tasty. Would come back again.

B. B.The high orchard is by far the friendliest and most welcoming pub in Gloucester, nothing is too much effort for the team and you're always welcomed with smiley faces. Food is always on point and can't beat the curry deal on a Wednesday or quiz night on a Thursday. D. J.Excellent service and the shef Alex is excellent with the food as I'm a fussy person when is comes to my cod but all I can say is that the cod just melted in my mouth and its very quick service, I will definitely be back again soon

P. S.Wow! What a place, me and my husband are super impressed. We had two mega mixed grills and a couple of pints of coke for less than £30! Shaun was great with us and came over and checked we were okay. All the staff were lovely and friendly. Be aware though it did get busy about 2pm, as there was a football game on over the road. So if you want somewhere quiet to go probably not the best place if Gloucester City are playing at home.

The Sunday carvery I had today was the best ever. Colleen and her team in the kitchen really are wizards. All the vegetables were cooked to perfection, and the broccoli wellington I ordered was absolutely gorgeous in texture and flavour.
Worth acknowledging the friendly efficiency of the serving staff too.

Best experience ever!
Made my sister’s 13th birthday really special, everyone went out of their way to make sure everything was perfect for us, there were a lot of us as we booked a big table and even though it was really busy anyway, nothing was too much trouble. Very happy :)
c. w.We had a lovely family meal (apart from the glass of red wine tasted off, but was kindly exchanged for another drink and the beef from the carvery was a bit tough). Michelle the waitress was very kind, helpful and was a lovely lady to have serve us today.
The only main issue was poor communication from another waitress to Michelle meaning we didn't get our extra drinks that were ordered until we asked someone again over 20 mins later (nothing to do with Michelle though, she apologized on behalf of the other waitress when she bought them over).
Overall, a lovely family get together in a nice atmosphere.
N. M.We went here for tea yesterday and it was quite quiet. It was really nicely decorated for Christmas. There were two ladies Rebecca and Jess who served our table. They were really polite even when we spilt a drink on our table and had to clear it up. We had a conversation with Rebecca about working over Christmas and how she was studying at Bath University. She was absolutely great and a credit to your company.
The food was fairly priced as it was 2 for 1 on meals. We ordered a platter and 4 main meals to come out at the same time which they did.

R. S.Pleasant food, only ever seen one staff member, who is nice. They never seem to have chilli for the chilli cheeseburger, which would always be my partner's first choice. We always go for early lunch so I can't say whether there's a good atmosphere as we're usually the only customers at that time.

All I can is the staff were amazing and so friendly. It was perfect for us as we had 2 children and a dog with us and it is a dog friendly pub. Would highly recommend this pub and want to thank the staff for attending to our family needs in such difficult circumstances.

L. “. P.I've moved to Hempsted November 2020 and this is my new local. I have a baby and I bring her along too and usually my sister as well. The owner and staff are fantastic with us 3 and makes us feel so welcomed.
The food is great. And for a decent price.
I try and go when it's quieter as the baby is with me, and she enjoys herself in the play area bit and she loves the food too.

S. B.I have mixed feelings about High Orchard. On the positive side, it was clean and welcoming, staff very friendly. Easy to find and good parking - if there was a lot of you meeting up, this venue would be ideal. Menu was quite extensive but felt a little like a Wetherspoons - not bad thing, but this is what made it feel samey - perhaps that was their intention!
We went for the food, it arrived quickly and was OK. Food is a matter of personal choice so is always difficult to pitch the standard - for us it was bland. We don’t drink alcohol so we also measure our visits by the standard of the latte’s - not good; overpriced, small, machine made and a strange washing-up style froth (not recommended). We were visiting Gloucester so it didn’t tick enough boxes to consider revisiting - sorry guys.

M. G.Lovely experience at this Marston's 2 for 1 pub. Staff were very attentive and the meals were perfectly cooked. As there were 2 of us the cheapest main meal was free. Based on my experience tonight, I would highly recommend.
C. O.I thought it was alright. Despite the different restrictions and bits in place, service was a little slow. We were a couple sat inside with about 4 other tables, drinks service was slow and we had to really fight to get someone's attention to take our order. Food was average. We'll stick to the Barn Owl in future.
T. B.Visited today for a quick drink. The place itself is nice but it was let down by other customers. Three young lads drinking in there, nothing wrong with that... Until two of them got in to a heated argument over a woman. They were being loud and swearing a lot... This doesn't bother me but what did bother me was the fact a young boy was there with his father having food. I could tell the dad felt intimidated by what was going on around him and didn't want to say anything but I felt more frustrated by the fact the shift manager said nothing at all. These types of pubs are tailored to be family friendly and no one should be made to feel uncomfortable. I understand people can get heated during conversations when they are drinking but these guys should have taken a second to remember where they were and who was around them.

One thing I think Marstons should change policy on the card machines, as now people are not carrying cash so much there should be a choice to put on a tip on, as staff are having to work twice as hard .

We're very surprised by all the bad reviews - maybe less good experiences were due to time of day? We arrived at midday on a Sunday and everything was perfectly cooked/warm.

The waiter who served us was friendly but was too busy to be able to give his best service. It was not overly busy for a Thursday afternoon however there should definitely have been more staff in duty. I would recommend the food but as I say not if you need to eat and leave quickly.

Normally it's meant to have a waited table service but after nearly 25 minutes of waiting, I end up going up to the bar. I know many places order at the bar but I know here they don't normally and on the way in, the said find a seat and someone will be be over shortly. I wonder what shortly is to them.
The food itself wasn't too bad and with the 2 for £10, it's reasonable value. Just I didn't feel the food was anything special.
S. C.We booked a table for large party and on arrival the table was filthy with rubbish and dirty plates, and it took along time after asking for it to be cleaned. A rather rude member of staff then informed us that the carvery was sold out, even though we arrived early afternoon on a Sunday. The food itself was nice when it arrived. Even though the experience today was pretty poor, the above stars have taken previous good experiences into account. However, they seem to be struggling with too few staff.

I came here with my partner and stepson, it took a while for someone to come and take our drinks orders and then to take our food orders too.
We all ordered something that had coleslaw with it (as stated on the menu), but when our food eventually came, none of us had coleslaw. When I mentioned this, the colleague who brought us our food told me that they were making some and it would be brought out, he just thought he would bring our food out so it wouldn't go cold, this wasn't stated when he initially brought the first plates of food, I felt like he thought I was stupid for asking in the first place.
We started eating our meals so they wouldn't go cold and there was still no coleslaw by the time we were finished.
I know it's only coleslaw but I would imagine that food would be prepped ready to go, and I wasn't expecting to wait 20 minutes for some coleslaw.
Someone came to collect our plates and ask how our food was so I told them that we were still waiting for our coleslaw, which obviously wasn't needed at that point. He gave us some money off our food, which was good of him and he was very apologetic about it.
During our meal, we also heard other people complaining that they were waiting a long time to be seen to.
Usually, when we go here, the service is much better than this, the only redeeming thing from today was Greg (I think that was his name), he was really friendly and went out of his way to help us.

Not particularly impressed. Place was filling up so we decided to stick with what we'd finally got which was quite tasty. Paid our bill at the bar and left. The bonus of The High orchard is the free parking and a seperate section for tables with children. Bar staff helpful and good service, menu varied and good choice for your 241. Kitchen/ waiting staff could do with a little more training. We'd definately go back again though.

Being an ale drinker, there has only ever been 2/3 hand pulls with beer on, although there are 8 hand pulls. The staff are very friendly and very accommodating, and they are always there to help you. I personally think that if there were more ales available, this could be a good venue for ale drinkers like myself, it would not only encourage us to drink here, but also eat as well. I think the beers need to be reviewed.
