A bit of a tardis, much larger inside, lots of dining areas, large car park and loads of outside seating. Staff friendly, lots of food being served which looked great, I didn't eat there but would very much like to next time. Visited on a Tuesday evening, a very nice experience.

We decided to stay at The Royal George within Birdlip, due to visiting a member of the family within the area. All members of staff we came across were accommodating & the building from the outside looks lovely. …

Have to say is a lovely place not only is it in a beautiful little village called Birdlip on the old B4070 road to cirencester it also has an amazing view point area just down the road where you can see the Malverns, Maryhill across gloucester for miles..
To get to this pub is a lovely drive whichever direction you come, The staff are lovely and friendly and helpful, The food we all had different and all empty plates so we said definitely going back and definitely recommend and recommend visiting Birdlip for lovely views and walking..
Having visited here again 18/09/22 would like to say not disappointed first the lady that saw us to our table was helpful and friendly, it was as usual busy, we had two roast Lamb dinners which was really good and hot and definitely worth the money as very large portion.
Will definitely go again and keep recommending

We've always enjoyed popping in to the Royal George at Birdlip, a small village just off the A417 to the east of Gloucester. Over the years like most hotels it's changed brands & owners regularly.
We visited several times during 2021 and chose it as the venue to take some nice family photos before our son flew off to pastures new in August. We enjoyed sitting in the garden soaking up the afternoon sun.
We visited again just before Christmas, for a small family get-together in the bar, whilst having a meal and drinks. The bar offered a standard bar menu as well as a Christmas Specials menu so our meals varied from the Christmas turkey, the Christmas pie, a rump steak and several vegetarian meals; so we were all well catered for. I had the Christmas pie and wondered whether it had been re-heated as the pastry felt a little hard and chewie.
But the service was good and our meals, barr one, all arrived at the same time. We ordered at the bar, where there'd a good selection of beers, lagers and ales as well as wines and gins. Service again was very good.
Dogs are allowed in the bar, as long as they're well behaved.
All in all a nice couple of hours spent with the family.
Visited again in August 2022 on a Sunday evening. Service still very good and some familiar faces too. Very polite & helpful staff. Food was on a par with previous visits. I wanted the trio of roasts but they were out of turkey. Deserts were good. Food arrived altogether and was hot, although the beer was a little dry.
Overall though happy with our evening, the service & our meal.

Stayed here for a couple of nights, the room was very comfortable and clean. We had a very good breakfast and the evening food is also of a high standard

What a gem!
Lovely staff, gorgeous pub, good choice for breakfast.
However, rooms are in desperate need for refurbishment and modernisation.

Clearly a popular pub grub place, been visiting on and off for years. Food is as described, but the menu could really do with some new ideas. It's very heavy on meat/pies etc. Could really do with some fresh healthy dishes. Green king beer is along the same lines, not much new here either.

I am staying in the hotel for three nights, B&B. Tonight is my last night.
The room is great. The bed is huge and very comfy. The shower is awesome.
Breakfast is very good, and I have also had dinner here. That has also been excellent.

We stayed here during the heatwave. Our room had a little outside space and French window. We sat outside in a lovely beer garden enjoying live music. The meal was great to. Definitely a good place to stay if you want to explore the Cotswolds.

Looking a little tired could do with a refurb but very clean. Staff excellent and always happy to help. The menu is good and the quality of food is great. We are staying 4 nights and so far so great.
