Reviews of The Turks Head Inn
J. H.
Lost its allure a little since our last visit. Didn't feel as welcoming or friendly as it used to. Quirky decor and an interesting pub but not as warm and friendly as we remember.
L. T. P.
This place is just amazing
Real welcoming atmosphere
Great beers and spirits
You really must see this place
It will blow your mind
P. R.
A real gem. An old fashioned pub with cask ales and ciders. The new location has an upstairs room with nice views over the newly revamped Kings Square. The prices are also very reasonable.
Don't come here looking for loud music, WiFi and fruit machines mind. It is somewhere to chat to friends and enjoy a pint
j. l.
Had a lovely pint or two of North Cotswold Brewery’s Jumpin Jack Flash. Great prices and a warm welcome from the owner.
S. P.
Went on a Saturday, enjoyed it so much, I may go back Sunday! I believe that 'quirky' would be the description of this lovely micropub. A great selection of ales served from the cask. An even greater-er selection of ciders. Just hope I don't get in trouble for these photographs.... I took one with my phone... :-) !
K. W.
Excellent little no nonsense pub. Although only 4 years old, just as if it had been there for 60 years. Friendly Landlady serves good beer. See notice board.
B. S.
A wonderful experience awaits the connoisseur who appreciates a fine selection of good quality cider and real ales and spirits. A good atmosphere can always be found with friendly and helpful bar staff and you'll generally find some very colourful characters . All in all I can guarantee that you'll thoroughly enjoy your visit to Gloucester's only Micro Pub !!
a. d.
Great little find small little pub big atmosphere need to visit real ale dog friendly staff and punters friendly
L. B.
A really nice traditional style pub worth a look and find out how nice yourself.🍻
T. G. N.
Nice little "micro" styled pub with 5 or 6 ales on tap & lots of interesting furnishings/ memorabilia & a friendly welcome.
A. W.
Great line up of real ales and cider. They also offer one lager on tap for anyone in your party who may be a larger drinker!
Always a good crowd of people here willing to share a conversation or two.
Very friendly staff.
d. b.
Susan was brilliant. Great punters. Sampled the ale and cider. I can recommend this place to people who enjoy cider and ale. A real gem.
A. K.
Great little pub, wonderful service and great atmosphere. Go to pub every time we visit Gloucester, and the new premises are fantastic.
M. P.
Always a decent selection of real ales. Recently moved from Southgate St. Friendly staff. Small pub with a nice atmosphere.
J. B.
A completely no nonsense pub, real ale or cider, this is the place. Cash only, dogs welcome, simply a proper British pub. Great welcome, great clientele, somewhere not to be missed in Gloucester.
M. G.
Ale House well Good down earth real ale real Pub ... Just enjoy and the Cider 🍻 now St Aldates ..... Still fine Ale 🤓 Beer please Just enjoy a lovely ale with a different take .... Ta

Love this little eccentric bar, real ales and ciders galore and lots of character. You can even get scrambled eggs on toast. Love the sign on the door.

If u like cask beer or ale then u love this place. Cheep but nice quality drinks at low prices. Even service is good but great for locals. Nice atmosphere, specially love the colourful walls. Just next to dock in high street. Plenty of seating inside n outside too.
T. H.
One of the best bars in Gloucester. Great for ale, better for cider! Excellent atmosphere and someone is always up for a chat

Visited for the first time a few weeks ago. What a fantastic friendly welcoming place! A great selection of ales for sale, which my mates loved, but also a draught lager for sale, which is such a nice touch in an ale house. And they didn't look down their nose at me for drinking lager! I can't comment on the ales, as I don't drink ale, but for me it was the atmosphere and the welcome that shone through. The place is small and intimate. We propped up the bar and the owner/manager and I think his partner were both really friendly and chatty, which is just what you want in a place like this. The hidden gents toilet caught me out, but was a quirky touch and good fun. Love this place, will definitely be back soon!
C. M.
Great staff. Old fashioned pub. Great barrels of real ale and cider. Reasonable price. Drinking, chilling or chatting pub, not smart phone friendly. 🍻
D. D.
Great selection of beer and cider! Awesome staff! You can't get bored sitting in here! Worth every penny!

Nice old school pub with a great selection of beers and ciders. We went when it was quiet and it was very enjoyable, but I can imagine if it was busy it might feel a little claustrophobic. The staff are very welcoming and the tea even came with a complimentary Club bar which was a really nice touch. I'll definitely be visiting again.
C. M.
Never got to write a review during the Gloucester Folk Trail as I was attempting a no phone policy to get the most out of the evening. But I can't forget to share that this pub is incredible. The sheer selection is worth praise alone, but the decor and the atmosphere, as well as the service will definitely have us returning when in Gloucester. We stayed for a while even though bar hopping was on the agenda. We sampled various ales and ciders and got stuck into a few board games. Love this place!
D. M.
All the lovely atmosphere of the previous premises, but now bigger and better !
D. B.
Good real ales, and only £2.50 pint midweek before 5pm
M. J.
Snug, traditional, friendly, honest, welcoming. Outstanding ale and a nice quiet spot to sit and enjoy it.
R. C.
Brilliant place. Great range of well kept, gravity poured ales. Love the house rules (no children but dogs and sheep welcome, switch your phone off, no more than 4 trendy beards allowed in at same time etc etc). Spanish breakfast , which is a coffee, piece of cake and a brandy for £2.50. Sorry if it’s more when you go in, I told them it was far too cheap. Come on real, real ale lovers, populate the place before the CAMRA knobs do
S. D.
Lovely small pub. Only visited once as I don't live in the area but there was a good range of beers of my liking and a nice atmosphere with friendly local people. The sign on the door made me chuckle too - sheep welcome, no phones
J. P.
Sells real ale and large selection of ciders. Quite place and good for a quiet drink and chatting. No phones. No children. Board games and comfortable seats. Walls covered in local photos and wallpapered with local news. Outside seating available in the street.
J. F.
Excellent range of cider and beer. Atmospheric and a good place to chill and chat. No frills but they would deter from ambiance. Friendly, knowledgeable staff. Put it on your list of must visit venues.

Found this place well walking through Gloucester town microbrewery absolutely brilliant. From the moment you walk in you are made to feel welcome from you ever it behind the counter to the people that frequent it looks are very deceiving they are seating and tables to the back so if you're looking for the group of friends there's plenty of room at the back as well as seating at the front off a couple of tables. They will oldie worldie feel about it. Some interesting names given for ales and ciders. If you like your relaxed chilled atmosphere then this is definitely a place to go to a polite notice asking people to go outside and take their phone calls is absolutely brilliant. For those that are looking to have a prolonged stay Monday to Friday I think it's 1 to 5 all points are 250 a point. I would definitely recommend this to anybody that one's a homely chilled sociable mini little pub brilliant
G. R.
This is what I would call my ideal pub. A great daytime deal on beers with board games to hand. Real and decent folk serving a range of local beers you could not get through in a week. I'd go back to Gloucester for this place
R. C.
great new micropub in Gloucester serving beers direct from the barrels behind the bar. No music, no wifi, just good conversations with the locals and visitors. Made to feel very welcome on my visit and look forward to returning some day.
M. G.
Fantastic new pub on one of the main streets, Southgate Street. It serves gravity poured real ales, it's quite small with a back room. We went there when it was snowing heavily, and there were a few others in there too, despite the weather. I had to look very hard for the gents toilet, it blended in very well with the wallpaper
S. Z.
Proper old-style crusty, no-nonsense boozer - with a sardonic, quirky touch. Real ale fresh straight out of a cask - no badly-cleaned pipes to give you a headache! Attracts some real characters as well - absolutely loved it!
A. B.
Great place to meet friends, Great beers and ciders
j. e.
Great little pub with some very nice ciders highly recommend
R. S.
Gets a A for character. Were you go for a great selection of ales ( 8) and ciders Viz. Old Bristolian 7.5abv . We went as guests to their 2nd anni of re-opening and were treated to cured meats, pickles and delicious snacks. Lovely people and good pub for talk usually where you can mid week meet the most famous town crier in All England master Alan Myatt MBE.!! Enjoy the crack.
R. L.
Good down to earth proper boozer. Not for the faint hearted maybe. Good prices.
S. P.

R. S. (.
Great atmosphere, unpretentious, and a fantastic selection of cider. Couldn't ask for more in a town pub. Will be returning for sure!
j. p.
A very cosy olde worlde City Centre pub close to the quays and the main shopping streets. The landlord and landlady make extremely good hosts with their warm and welcoming manner. A relaxed place with reasonable prices, I would thoroughly recommend a visit.
g. l. (.
What an amazing pub! Real ales and ciders straight out the barrel. A pub with character
J. O.
Proper pub run by real people selling great beers, what more could you want? To make it even better mobile phones are banned so you never have to listen to a one sided conversation.
J. S.
Amazing selection of beers, lovely staff. They sell cheese and onion rolls really cheap so just go in for one if them if you dont drink lol
M. L.
A pub just like it used to be, only gravity fed beers, no jukebox, fruit machine or pool table. 👍🍺🍻
T. J.

Top quality pub, great beer (especially when it's only £2.50 a pint between 12 & 5 Monday to Thursday's), great conversation.
L. R. (. b.
A great pub with unique ale and cider that you can't get anywhere else. If you go in the daytime all ales are £2.50!
I. M.
